Scotty's in Barrie

Since we moved to Barrie we have always wanted to go to Scottys. We finally got the chance and what a great dining experience from our servers to the meal. Great food good customer service. I RECCOMEND THE BANG BANG SHRIMP. So crunchy.

My family and I have been coming to Scottys for nearly 20 years. It has always been a place we could count on for incredible food and excellent service. Scottys was a favorite of someone near and dear to us - we would often come here to celebrate special occasions. Sadly, they passed away recently, and we came last night to honor what would have been their birthday. While the food, as always, was fantastic, our experience was marred by the deplorable service we received from our waitress. From the moment we sat down, she rushed us through our meal as though we were an inconvenience. When I asked a question about the menu, she responded in a condescending tone, making me feel embarrassed for even asking. She didnt check on us, didn t smile, and left us feeling uncomfortable. I ve had this particular waitress before, and although the service wasn t great then, last night was far worse, given the significance of the visit. While Scotty s will always be one of my favorite places, I do hope more thought is given to the hiring process moving forward to ensure that all staff embody the qualities that make the place so special.

We decided to try this place after reading some reviews with our young children. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was pleasant. The staff were very friendly and attentive. An unassuming gem that I am glad we have discovered. I would highly recommend!

Attended a family gathering of 18. Our servers Peter and I m sorry I have forgotten the other server s name were fantastic and attentive to details. I love Jambalaya and my favourite spot closed down about 10 years ago. I ve been searching either since and Scotty s Jambalaya was superb!!! Great spot

We have been long-time patrons of Scottys, its like coming home every time we visit. They are literally one of the best restaurants in the entire Simcoe County area, but dont take my word for it, come check it out for yourself!

We wish to give a good rating but tonight we met a lady working in the kitchen who talked with us and is quite rude and discriminating. It s an elegant restaurant but definitely overpriced We paid 60 with all Tax and tip included for a 6 oz steak for each person but the quantity is very small

Lovely meal with my out of town guests. All four of us found our meals to be delicious and generous portions. We all took leftovers home. Our guests complemented us on this restaurant choice. Never had a bad meal here. We had the ribs, wings, the smothered chicken and the bourbon chicken. All superb.

My family loves this place! It is our go to when we want to have a nice dinner out together. The staff is always lovely and the food always feels like it could have been homemade ( I mean that as a compliment). Some of our favourite dishes are the Chicken Marsala and their Bruschetta. I also finally decided to try their peppercorn filet last night and it was so good, easily better than The Keg. Anyways, I just felt like Ive enjoyed myself enough times at Scottys that I should leave a review. Eating out is a lot these days so I really appreciate it when the food is of this quality and the staff is this caring! Love it :)

We used to frequent this restaurant a lot when I was younger and its location was at Minets Point. We were near their new location and decided to give it a try. Nothing had changed. Food and service.was amazing. Our waiter Peter was kind and friendly. Definitely will be going back

I ve lived blocks away from this place for 5 years. First time finally going and I m so sad I ve wasted so much time near and not going. I sat down, great service and was stumped what to order. Stumped because I couldn t decide what to try. Everything looked so good! Got the chicken stir fry and it was great. Can t wait to come back.

Scottys is a excellent place to dine in. Very personal, friendly staff, excellent service from Keith. Love the atmosphere. Food was very flavorful and great big portions. We highly recommended this place. Even the drinks were delicious...the Sangria was just perfect tasting. Everything was delicious. The homemade dessert is also a rarity. Yum!

Lovely place, been going here for almost 27 years.

Enjoyed dinner here. The atmosphere feels like a steak house vibe, dim lighting and dark decor. Food options were great especially with Keto options on the menu which I havent seen much of dining out. Portions for my entrée Chicken Marsala were enormous. Would prefer less but that is my opinion. The lemon dessert was not very good. It was like a jello pudding dessert to me. Overall experience was good and would definitely go back to try a different entrée.

We were a party of three. Our wait staff reminded us that their portions were on the larger size. I ordered the half rack of ribs and fries to go along with my red ale bevie. The ribs were most excellent and very tasty. I attempted to save room for dessert, alas I was completely full after my entrée. My table mates were able to have some takeaway. Thanks a lot for a most pleasant dining experience.

Very family oriented.. laid back and relaxed!! After a hard week at work, have a shower put on your comfy clothes.. slide down for a meal I d swear your momma made!!! .. best place hands down! Friendly staff, clean washrooms, .. every single worker here helps each other and does it like family .. I d swear.. my niece and nephew have been running to grab us drinks and food since we have been here!! FYI ALLFOOD IS MADE FRESH!! go get you some homemade delicious comfort food!! Well done! Was recommended by a family member, went in for a date night, the waitress was very friendly and helpful, we were seated almost immediately. Service was a bit slow during the busier hours, it slowed down around 730pm and was then amazing! My husband ordered a steak and I ordered the chicken parmigiana. About 15 minutes after ordering our waitress came to inform us they ran out of steak. My husband picked something else on the menu, it happened to be ribs which was the second most highly rated item on the menu (first being steak). After 5 minutes of ordering the a full rack of ribs our waitress came back out to tell us that they only had half a rack of ribs left and then they were out. My husband decided to change his meal again to a chicken dish, which was then served about 10 minutes later. Our meals were hot, it was fast and our waitress was extremely apologetic. The best part of our meals would have to be the drinks! Before leaving our waitress offered us 2 pieces of turtle cheesecake (complimentary) and took two drinks off of our bill due to the mix up regarding the food. We will definitely be returning and appreciate making it right!

Absolutely love this place. The prices are reasonable, and the plates are full. Its a high end dinner with average prices but your plate is full. Service is fast amd always there when needed. Highly recommend this place.

Overpriced, burnt steaks smothered in sauce that did not taste nice at all...after reading all the reviews thought this would be a nice place to check out...was extremely disappointed. Parking: A lot of parking is available in the plaza parking lot.

I have been enjoying your restaurant for over 10 years with my family ,sometimes with four generations, however tonight was just 4 of us and 3 of us looking forward to a steak . The restaurant opens at 4:30 on Saturday so I made reservations online for 5:15pm. The four of us new exactly what we wanted to eat so no time was wasted and as we ordered our waiter said we have only one steak left! And we don t have salmon either!! We all thought the waiter was joking. My son in law ordered the only steak and the waiter went to make sure it was still available and he came back to our table to tell us that was gone as well ! I have always spoken so highly and recommended to many this restaurant and we were all very disappointed as our favourite steak house has run out of steak 45 minutes after they open. We reluctantly all had chicken and mine was over cooked and dry. I can no longer consider this my family restaurant as not even a soft drink was removed from the bill!! Very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

2023 April 1/5: Burnt steaks smothered in a disgusting sauce. The mash potatoes tasted burnt as well (1/5) :( Inside decor looks a bit dated and not in the best condition (3/5) Service was okay (3/5) ... nothing bad about it, nothing exemplary about it either...

Excellent service from start to finish at Scottys! They were quite busy, but managed to fit us in even though we did not have a reservation. Our waiter, Peter, was amazing and the food was simply superb. We will definitely be back in the future.

Absolutely love this place! One of my favourites. Never disappoints! A must try! I try to go a few times a year. Last time I went there it a for my grandmas birthday a couple weeks ago. Melissa was our waitress. Absolutely fantastic experience. She was flawless! Unfortunately Keith ruined our whole experience. He wasnt even our waiter. He was rude, depressing, and sour. I asked him for a lemonade and he abruptly says we dont have any. Didnt smile once or offer another option and made our experience horrible. Walked around with an attitude you could sense from a Mile away. If he gets fired I would gladly switch my rating to an easy 5 star!

Came here for dinner and was welcomed with the greatest service. Our server, Peter was one of the best servers I ve ever had. He was kind, gave his opinions and overall had amazing service. I got the steak and normally I don t get steak out because I like it blue, and places normally don t make it even requested. I took a gamble and it didn t disappoint. It was cooked perfectly, and amazing quality. I would take this steak over any other place I ve been to including The Keg. Will be recommending this to all family and friends.

They make the best beef dip in Barrie. We come from Wasaga Beach to eat at their restaurant.

Such a sweet, friendly, cozy restaurant. The owners, Scotty and Sherry are absolutely lovely and care about each and every person who dines in their establishment. Scotty does the cooking in the back and Sherry runs the front of the house. Myself, my son and husband went in for their special Thanksgiving turkey dinner and it did not disappoint. Everything is homemade and nothing comes from a box. The stuffing and gravy were outstanding. We ended the dinner with the scrumptious pumpkin pie! Our server was Peter and he was absolutely phenomenal. You really feel like part of the family when you go in and dine with them. I would highly recommend this place to anyone without hesitation!

I heard so much about Scottys from the neighbors and I had to try their food. Honestly everything was great, the burgers were amazing (nice thick juicy patties) and the fish and chips was better than most places. Will definitely be coming back

I was skeptical to try this place but honestly we love it. Great cozy ol pub type atmosphere, incredibly friendly servers and overall great service. Food is all excellent, prices are reasonable, bathrooms are always clean and we have enjoyed everything we have ever eaten there. Highly recommend, they are a hidden gem in this city.

Honestly my favourite place in Barrie to sit down and eat. I ve ordered the salmon teriyaki and jambalaya here and both the portions were really big and the food is absolutely incredible. Top stars to the German pilsners as well. I get upset when I eat out elsewhere instead of coming back to Scotty s. Will be a staple for my family for many years to come.

Been coming here for over ten years but getting tired of having sliced carrots with every meat menu option. Food is excellent and so is the service but would be nice to see some variety on the vegetable side. Is there really nothing other than sliced carrots?

Barrie s hidden gem. Always consistent meals and the employees are so caring

An absolutely wonderful restaurant to go to when you are hungry and you want delicious food at a reasonable price. I had French onion soup which was yummy and hot as well as the French Dip which was tender and meaty. As my guest and I had not visited with each other for a couple of years we had a lot of catching up to do and were not rushed at all. Our server was quite the gentleman and excellent at his job.

Had diner here for the first time. What an amazing restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are warmly greeted. The service was outstanding. Our server was so friendly and attentive. The owner was so warm and friendly. She made us laugh and we felt so welcome. The food is so delicious. It s so fresh and flavourful. The Lemon Chiffon desert is home made and is now my favourite desert of all time. We had such a wonderful diner and I can t wait to go back.

Great little restaurant! Atmosphere was nice and had a good flow! Lighting kind of reminds me of the Keg, you know that dark moody lighting(which I am a fan of) Not an absolute giant menu but certainly enough to choose from. I tried the chicken Alfredo and truthfully I was not the biggest fan but maybe I am just not a fan of it in general! My girlfriends chicken masala was to die for. Just from having a bite of hers makes me want to go back! Staff were super friendly and checked in with us not too much but enough! We will be back!

Six of us just happened onto this Restaurant and it is a jewel. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food and the exceptional Staff just added to it. I had the Chicken with peppercorn sauce on a bed of zucchini I dont care for zucchini but, with this fantastic sauce, I ate it all up & & wanted to lick the plate Kudos to this Team We will be back.

I ordered fish and chips and chicken Parmesan for my husband for his birthday. we picked it up in timely Manor and we brought it home. (We live not even 5 mins up the road.) and I am so disappointed to say it s probably the worst takeout I ve ever had in my life! I would never put a review but sadly I have to this time the fish was as if it was microwaved too long overdone it was total rubber and tasteless, I couldn t even bite the batter was so hard, and the french fries were like rubber !!! It was so terrible, the coleslaw was worse than Kentucky fried chickens coleslaw! And the chicken Parmesan was nothing to write home about so sad. Terrible, we were longtime customers but I will never go back again. We ve had a couple of bad incidences in the past but just chalked it up to the pandemic and that but this is terrible. I don t know what happened you guys used to be amazing!! I don t know if you changed your cook or what but sad, we use to love that place Unacceptable we will not be going back

Best restaurant in Barrie

Once again another amazing dining experience heightened by our waitress who had us laughing throughout the meal. Delicious food, wonderful people and ambience. We have loved Scottys for years!

Attended with friends and were accommodated quickly with friendly reception. Efficient order taken and presented promptly. Positive comments and appreciation from all of us. Recommend the jambalaya as well as the chicken bacon penne. A great experience . Try it ...you will be impressed. Thumbs up !!!!!!!!!

What an amazing meal we shared this evening with our family. We enjoyed French Onion soup and deep fried pickles to start. Then for our main dishes we had two Pastas - Chicken Alfredo and Chicken Bacon Penne. Well I haven t had a good pasta in the last two years. So many restaurants are skimping out on portions and use poor quality Chicken. Not Scotty s!!! I m a pasta Lover and they were both FABULOUS! We have been delighting ourselves in dining out a few times in the past two weeks. Our other two Dine-out meals were sadly disappointing. This is now our go to spot I m sure because it s real food and great portion sizes. I can t wait to try other things on the menu :) Compliments to the Chef this evening and the owners for running a quality restaurant. Kid-friendliness: It s a kid friendly environment and classy for a date night also.

Was recommended by a good friend, Id never heard of or knew anything about this place. Am I ever happy Ive been shown its location & had the food recommended! The menu had just the right amount of selection to keep the food quality in-check, beautiful presentation, excellent taste! I was not disappointed at all. I would definitely recommend this little gem of a {restaurant/pub/fine dinning you can see it has the quality of all three types of establishments to it}, to anyone asking for a recommendation!

We had just found Scottys when the pandemic hit, just managed to get back there last weekend and so glad we did! Arrived around 6:30 on Friday night and the dining room was full but the bar side had lots of tables and cute little booths for two. Our server, Peter, was very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a good wine menu and reasonable prices. We had the baked garlic shrimp and the shrimp cocktail, both were delicious, nice portions of big, fresh shrimp. The garlic shrimp came with cheesy breadsticks that were fantastic! They offer a whole Keto section on the menu which makes me very happy. I had the Keto chicken with zucchini and it was juicy and delicious. Hubby had chicken parmesan and he said it was excellent and I never even got a bite! It also came with the fantastic breadsticks. I took Peters advice and had the lemon chiffon cheesecake and it was light and refreshing and the perfect end to a great meal. The atmosphere at Scottys is relaxed and fun. We really enjoyed listening to one of the female servers bantering with her guests, she was hilarious. I commented that it didnt seem like anyone was in any hurry to leave, everyone was having a great time. Looking forward to our next dinner at Scottys! Dietary restrictions: Keto menu options! We thoroughly enjoy the menu items, the ambience, and the service. Now that were in the pandemic and take out only, they bend over backwards to provide great service. We had a slight mishap with our most recent take-out order, and when discovered at home and phoned them, they took care of us with no questions asked - and even delivered right to our door. Great to have a neighbourhood restaurant like this nearby. Great tasting meals, good sized portions, and quality food!

Its been a while since I have eaten here and I have to say that the quality of the food has not suffered at all through this madness! I am a fellow business owner here in our city and its been tough for all of us so I know how you feel! This is by far one of best restaurants in Barrie! If I could give this place double the stars I totally would. Hands down one of the best places Ive ever ordered takeout. Excellent customer service & a very classy looking. Definitely hope to be back sometime, & highly recommend it to anyone! Service for the 2 of us for takeout - our meal was ready in about 10 minutes (full rack fall-apart ribs, wings, fries & gravy, Caesar salad, coleslaw, carrots with dip, potato skins w sour cream).

Id like to start by saying that Scottys is my Moms favourite restaurant and I try to take her there every time I visit from the GTA. On March 9, I called Scottys Restaurant to help me plan my Moms birthday dinner for the following day. Due to the lockdown and current COVID restrictions at the time, my plan was to arrange a delivery of her favourite dinner because I was unable to visit and take her personally. When I called I was told that they are not partners with any of the delivery apps and that they will not be able to arrange the delivery. I was disappointed but completed understood. A few minutes later the owner Sherry called me back and offered to deliver my Moms dinner herself!! I was overwhelmed with gratitude! We took her up on this very generous offer. After I ordered my Moms meal and Sherry confirmed the time that Moms dinner would be delivered I hung up hopeful that all would go as planned. Not only was my Moms dinner delivered right on time and without issue but Sherry had taken the time out of her busy schedule to decorate the food bag with some birthday decorations!! This was all done for a stranger!! In this crazy world that we are living in including the stresses of dealing with Covid, we were incredibly touched by Sherrys kindness!! We are customers for life, on top of this the food is absolutely delicious! This is a must try for everyone!!

First time eating there and I promise it wont be my last. I ordered for pick on the Friday and I was absolutely pleased with my order. Had spud skins and chicken wings. It was so good, I ended up going back Saturday to dine in. Customers service was very good and friendly. Sherry, absolutely a sweetheart. Keith was very attentive. Had the simply grilled steak and it was cooked perfectly. My food and my drink was quite hypnotizing. Lol. Atmosphere was great. Danced in my seat enjoying my meal. Definitely recommending visiting.

We hosted a 22 - person surprise birthday dinner on Saturday. It was amazing, the food was delicious, came out quickly and all at the same time. The owners were so wonderful and helpful, so much so, that they encouraged us to drop off a cake prior to opening hours, and allowed us to add two extra seats due to RSVP changes. I do not have enough amazing things to say about their restaurant and the staff. They close relatively early and again, encourages us to stay as late as we wanted. It was so wonderful and could not have gone better thanks to the owners and the staff.

I had called to make reservations for Barrielicious and told them I was bringing my grandma who is in a wheelchair. They pride themselves on being wheelchair accessible so I thought this was no issue. We called half an hour ahead to make sure we had a wheelchair accessible table and whoever I talked to on the phone had given us a booth - not understanding that Grandma was not able to get out of her wheelchair and would need to be in it to eat, which meant we had to wait longer for an accessible seat.

Our family had spent a long and emotional day attending the funeral of our mother. With many from out of town we wanted to get a meal and relax before everyone headed home. Our party of 30 walked into Scotty s without giving them even a moment of notice. Their staff were welcoming and friend providing us with seating close to one another. Great food, amazing service! Truly a home cooked experience with the continence of heading out for the evening. Burger was on point and the beers were cold! Great vegetarian options also. Great service from our waiter peter, the food was well portioned and cooked beautifully. I ordered the bruschetta salmon, was not dry at all while my boyfriend ordered the peppercorn steak. He thought that it was very good, just wished that the steak was a little bit bigger. Overall, would come back!

Was there for an anniversary dinner and I must say the service was amazing and the food was just spot on. I had a Brie burger and the fiancée had a beef dip sandwich. My oh my was it ever good, the meat was fresh and cooked to perfection the fries were crispy and the setting was intimate. Price on wine was a little overpriced based on what were used to however that doesn t knock the 5 star rating I m giving to Scotty and his restaurant. Keep up the great food and atmosphere we will definitely be returning customers thank you for the awesome experience !

Excellent meal (Jambalaya) tonight on the socially distances patio. Spicy creole sauce over jumbo shrimp, chicken and sausage and your choice of rice or linguine. Service was also excellent from friendly serve staff. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back again.

Went to Scottys on August 12 and the food was great. Peter our server was an excellent host. He was always diligent making sure we were taken care and overall great personality. We ordered the rib combo, was good . However one exception, we thought the ribs to be over smokey with the sauce.

Always a 6 star plus experience. Food is home cooked. Delicious options and kid friendly. This is one of my fav. Restaurants. Staff are amazing. Best burger in town. Best burger Ive ever had actually. Highly recommend!!!

We were so pleased with our experience being from out of town. Felt like a place that only the locals know about. The food was fantastic. The bourbon chicken and chicken marsala were so good. The bruschetta bread was one of the best weve had. The waitress and manager were also great.

Dropped in for a weekend dinner with friends, everything we ordered was excellent but the brie burger and wings stood out above the others. Also if available, I absolute recommend you get the lemon chiffon pie, it was phenomenal. Excellent service with friendly staff. Would highly recommend and visit again.

This was our first visit to Scottys and we will definitely be back. The food was amazing and the service was second to none. I had the smothered chicken and my wife had the bruchetta salmon. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. We would definitely recommend Scottys to all of our friends.

Never been to this place before as it is in an odd location. Staff was incredible, the atmosphere was quiet and open and the food, just WOW. I would love to come back here again as it was a very nice surprise.

Great atmosphere, service and the food is always so good! Smaller portions would be a nice option, especially for the pasta dishes. But I suppose left overs arent terrible

5 of us were there for dinner tonight and it was fantastic. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Food was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. Will be returning again soon to try something else off the menu.

A little on the expensive side, but worth it. The service here is always warm and attentive, food is delicious (like your best home cooked meals), and the interior is cozy in spite of the underwhelming exterior. Their garlic shrimp, pastas, and peppercorn steak are wonderful.
