Have tried them twice now but will not return. Food is ok. Prices are high. But my Ruben Sandwich was essentially a sauerkraut sandwich with one thin piece of meat. Omelettes are decent but anyone can do that. Eggs Benedict - the Peameal bacon was very tough and over cooked.

Our first time here but definitely NOT our last. We searched for breakfast in Barrie and stumbled across this absolute gem. Delicious food, lots of homemade options, great sides, and the jalapeño cream sauce is killer!! Their homemade strawberry preserves took me right back to my Moms kitchen...

Went here for lunch with my friend, had the turkey club. I could tell it was freshly made in house and was outstanding. Food was great but the service was amazing. Didnt catch her name but she had very curly hair, she was so kind and knowledgeable. Will be back.

We came for brunch with my child and 2 other adults. We were seated quickly but when we took a seat the seats were wet. No big deal for me we all miss things some times. The issue is when we ordered. We waited an excess of 40 minutes for our food. We spent 5 minutes attempting to waive down our server with no luck. After another few minutes we decided to pay for our coffees and orange juice at the front register but were told by another server it was fine and we don t need to worry about the bill. If the interaction ended here I would not be leaving a review BUT As we stepped outside OUR SERVER came out to tell us our food was almost out. We said we can t wait any longer and it s been over an hour at this point (anyone with children can understand). She then accused us of Dining and dashing in front of my child and friends. We explained to her dining and dashing would imply that we ate the food we never received and after a moment she did apologize. I don t take being called a thief in-front of my family lightly.

Horrible experience. It took them too much time to bring our breakfast that we decided to take it out. Food was not that great.

We thought wed try a different breakfast place in Barrie. The service was great, the atmosphere nice (some of the furniture needed upgrades) but unfortunately the food was just okay. The bacon was a bit too greasy and the ham didnt have much flavour. I do want to commend the hollandaise sauce which I thought was great!

I was visiting my hometown and meeting a friend. We had a wonderful meal there. I enjoyed the eggs benedict, a very rare treat for me. Our server was wonderful. The simmering Kettle has become my new favourite place to go when I next return to Barrie.

Delicious turkey club. Will come back to try some other food in the near future.

Just ate here for the first time. Absolutely loved the food. We had the country fried chicken and the home hash. It was a bit of a wait, but the server apologized for the wait and was fantastic with us. We have a 7 month old, and they were super accommodating towards our needs with him. I also loved seeing the huge space and change table in the womens washroom for babies as well. Just wish they had one in the mens as well. Will definitely be coming back here again.

This is our first time here and we really enjoyed it. The foods are delicious, we got the burgers and the meats inside are omg! Really homemade and juicy. The atmosphere inside is so friendly and warm, service and the lady who took care about us is very kind and smiling. Definitely a unique place to go and eat in. We re looking forward to go for breakfast!

Didnt even make it through the door. Their right wing anti vax and anti lock down signage posted in the front window turned my appetite right off. Come on now ... time to move on.

We came to this restaurant because it was the closest one open after shopping at canada computers I ordered the fish and chips, and my husband ordered a turkey club. This restaurants menu was very catered for the younger, more trendy people, a lot of vegetarian options, and a lot of artisan-ish plates We ordered our drinks first, and when they came, our server also brought us cups of water. At every table, there is a small pamphlet about Kangen water. It has all kinds of claims and benefits. We took a sip of this magical water, and it was the weirdest water Ive ever had. I took my sip and swallowed, and it felt like all the liquid in my mouth went down with the water. My tongue got so dry and bitter.. Claiming this water will detoxify anything and all the other claims is very sketchy when we went to the link for the water. We find out that the machine costs so much that you need to finance it to be able to get it in your house . Also, when you search for this kangen water, there are so many articles about how its a scam. The food at this restaurant was ok but a bit pricey for what we got. The water is one of the reasons for a low review, but the reason i really dislike this restaurant was the choice of decoration. We sat at a booth, and the booths were separated by a small glass plane. This glass plane looks so disgusting. its red/brown tinged with lines running through it. But it honestly looks like a glass wall with hair stuck to it. It was very distracting, and just unsettling.

Excellent restaurant! The Cream of Turkey soup-of-the-day was categorically the most delicious soup I ve ever tasted, and the little house-made crackers were a unique flavourful treat. By request, Chef was so kind to switch up the menu s Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap into a wonderful toasted sandwich on multi-grain for me. Thanks also to Sherry, who was very pleasant and fun to chat with. All four of us enjoyed our lunch, and will definitely make The Simmering Kettle a favourite stop when visiting Barrie.

Food wasnt great. Ordered the skillet, and it was soaked in butter. The waitress would bring over things not ordered, apologize and then forget to take them back with her.

My family has been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the food. Pretty much a homerun every time. The best pancakes in town in our opinion. The only drawback is that as of late, the seating has taken a beating and the upholstery is completely falling apart. Because of this it has been a struggle with my son everytime we go there as he feels like the damaged upholstery is dirty and doesnt want to sit anywhere. This review is more for management as a plea to upgrade the seating upholstery and nothing more. If not for this I would give this place 5 Stars. UPDATE: Management must have seen my review because my family and I returned for breakfast 2 weeks later and all the remaining seats were reupholstered. The seats look great and clean and we are very happy. 5 Stars

Great breakfast! Great service. However if your going for pancakes this not the place.. VERY small pancakes in comparison to what you would expect for the cost.

We ended up getting lunch here and had a good time, the service was very good and attentive. The food was tasty. We both got the banquet burger ( very large! ) and also a poutine. It wasn t too busy and the place is nicely decorated with large windows. The menu has lots of options! Definitely want to try the breakfast next time. Lovely place, looks very well taken care of.

We waited ten minutes to be acknowledged when we walked. Then we waited another ten minutes for someone to notice we were sitting at a table. 30 minutes for food to arrive. There was no organization with the waitstaff or communication. The eggs Benedict with avocado was inedible. $20 for a meal and I couldn t eat it. I let the one waitress know and she just took my plate. I was still charged for it. My father had the breakfast with peameal bacon. It was so dry he couldn t cut through it. I was embarrassed to take my parents here as I had heard good things and they are from out of town. So not only was the service horrible, but the food was not edible. No one came around and asked if our food was OK or asked us if we wanted more coffee or tea We had to flag someone down to take our plates and get the bill which is when I told them how bad my meal was. We walked out of there without being acknowledged at all. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Crunched into shell in second bite of my Eggs Benedict. It only took a quick inspection to find several more good sized shells. The meal was replaced but not until my party were finished their meals. The replacement came with a soggy english muffin and little burnt bits of something. I am not generally over particular but, would not recommend this restaurant. The server was very apologetic but unfortunately didnt come back to ask how the food was until we were well into the meal. There are definitely better choices in the area.

Love going to the Simmering Kettle. Havent been for a while, but still as delicious as I remember it! Plus thr portions are perfect and it leaves you satisfied!

We booked for 12 pp for a Thanksgiving homemade meal. Everything was fabulous. Thank you so much for accommodating us for much needed family visit. The portions were huge and I loved the pumpkin soup! Our server was amazing and I feel bad because I forget her name. Great spot and I highly recommend this place.

This place is ridiculous. Take out orders upside down in the bag all food arrived flipped and covered in each other. all containers covered in hollandaise sauce. Jam all over all food aswell. Not the first time here fed up had to write review. Never agian

I had such a great experience here. If you go for lunch I highly suggest trying their soup. I got their chicken noodle soup and it was fantastic. You can tell it is home made which is something I love about soup. Our server was so sweet and nice the entire time. My boyfriend got the breakfast and it was also amazing. Great spot for both breakfast and lunch.

This place is actually filthy. They say a restaurants bathroom speaks volumes for the kitchens cleanliness. Never again!

Food was good, service was okay, no employees wearing masks at all made me want to leave at first, but I decided to give them a chance, until I was eating my $24 quesadilla and saw the dishwasher and chefs wearing no protective equipment at all, and the $75 bill at the end for two decent quesadillas was ridiculous. Was also asked if I wanted gravy for my fries without being told it costs $2.00. Will not be returning.

We ve been 3 times now and the food is outstanding. Amazing prices and service. Highly recommended.

My mind was blown with how incredibly flavorful their food was. I am from oakville and will never eat anywhere else when visiting Barrie because they have spoiled my taste buds. Food good enough to leave Oakville for. I am extremely impressed. A must visit when going to or passing through Barrie. You will not be disappointed.

What a pleasure to have found this place. We started with the articoke dip with naan bread and it was very flavorful The wife had a breakfast themed plate and the bacon was cooked perfectly. I had a burger and added the mushrooms and onions. The only thing better than the food was the service. Smiling friendly and extremely helpful. My only regret was we dodnt find this place sooner most certainly will return

My son and I driven 3 hours to drop off a rental in Barrie. Beautiful city! Decided to have lunch but wanted something off the chain and local. Cozy, clean and friendly restaurant. I was told everything was home made. And it really is.. I had a soup and sandwich lunch, sandwich was fully loaded BLT on rye and Italian wedding soup. Both were absolutely amazing. Best Italian wedding soup I ever had! Portions were perfect as well. My son had a kids burger with fries. He inhaled the burger and had half his fries. The cheese on his burger... perfectly gooey. He loved it, he said its better than dads homemade burger ( ha. Hopefully he doesnt see this) I ended up pulling the parent card and had some of his fries. If I wasnt full from my lunch, I would have finished those fries. So. Good! Highly recommend!

The best breakfast and brunch place in Barrie. We tried this restaurant when we first moved to Barrie and never looked back!! This is our Sunday brunch joint. Both food and staff here are amazing! My favourite from the breakfast menu is The skillet ! Highly recommend this restaurant for those from Barrie and the ones visiting or driving past South Barrie.

Breakfast was was tasty even though it was luke warm. Service was slow but I think there was only one person serving that day. Loved the jam was so good I bought a jar.

It was overall, a disappointing experience. The service staff were not very friendly. Took us close to an hour to get our food. My steak was cold and dry despite ordering a medium. Had to wait another 5 minutes for ketchup. Water glass had sour cream rubbed on the outside. The taste of the food was not impressive. Surprised to see the very high reviews or maybe we just got unlucky.

Have not been here since pandemic began. Great friendly service. Would now rate this the best breakfast in Barrie.

I was very disappointed with the service as normally they are very friendly. When we first went into the restaurant the server seemed very hesitant (we are Asian) to greet us. Even though the restaurant was half full we were relegated to the corner furtherest away from other people beside some trash and boxes. It felt as though we were being treated differently. I hope this will change soon as the food is wonderful.

I had a soup and a reuben sandwich... Huge disappointment. First of all the size of the everything looked like its from kids menu (I wouldnt complain if they wouldnt charge $20 for it). Then the soup was ok but had quite a lot of vinegar in it (onion soup), the sandwich was one of the worst reubens I had topped with a tiny peace of cheap Walmart pickle on the side... Again, I wouldnt be so upset if it wasnt $20 bucks for a cheaply made sandwich. They had other things on the menu, but for sure dont get any of those sandwiches! What a rip-off!

I definitely recommend this breakfast place, the food was absolutely delicious, costumer service was amazing waitress was very kind , the chocolate chip pancakes were mind blowing best pancakes Ive had and the prices for all the food we got was great. I definitely recommend this restaurant.. Support small local places as well..

We have been going to the Simmering Kettle for years now but last time in will be my last time in. I had the soap of the day as my side. It was very good, until I was almost done when I found a piece of steel wool on my mouth from the soup! I understand that tha5 can happen and its not just that I found a FOREIGN OBJECT in my food but that the server only took off $2 for it. Yes I did eat the sandwich, but in ANY restaurant where Ive worked (Im a chef) the whole meal would have been comped. She also acted like it was no big deal. Only reason for 2 stars is in the past we have had good experiences there.

All-Day Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner restaurant found right next to the 400 exit in Barrie. Restaurant was very clean, quiet due to the time I was there, but ample seating. The waitress was very attentive and the food came out quick and was absolutely delicious. Great spot to eat, will definitely return.

It s refreshing to come across a hidden gem like this one. The food is beyond excellent. The staff are kind and caring. If I had to complain about any one thing and I really mean if I had to, I would say that the portion size on their steak and shrimp could use to be a little bit bigger! Otherwise, I become a regular customer! From now on anytime I m in the city of Barrie. I will be making a stop here for lunch dinner or breakfast.
