Great selection of Draught!

Appetizers were great, mains were okay nothing great. For the price I could have went to The Keg. I gave the service a 2 because of our experience but it could just be based on our server at the time. Seemed like he was annoyed to have to tend to us.

It was hot on one side, but Stephanie had no problem with us moving to a cooler table that wasnt right in the sun (the shades didnt help). She was very sweet and attentive. We all loved our food too!

My family flew into Toronto from Alberta and headed north for my son s wedding in Dunchurch staying overnight in Barrie. We were tired and hungry and headed to State and Main. Our meals were fresh and delicious and our server Marisa was exceptional. My mother in law even left a note for the manager to state what a great server she was. Thank you!

Food was good and well seasoned, however I got a drink that was stronger than I anticipated, I ordered a water to help me get it down but I just couldn t. The manager came over to ask about it, I kindly told him the situation and he gave me the attitude of a toddler, rolled his eyes and stomped away when I asked if it could be taken off the bill. I can understand having a bad day at work but you still have to respect your costumers. Extremely unprofessional and rude behaviour from the manager of all people. Server was nice and helpful though. I just reposted this review with a much lower rating because of how shocked I am at the manager s unprofessionalism. And upon reading other reviews I m not the only one to have an issue with him. Something should be done about this behaviour. He was the manager 26/10/24 we went around 7pm.

My dad and I went for a meal this week (Sept 17/24) at Barries State & Main. Our server, Trinity, was absolutely phenomenal! She made our experience great with her friendly personality and excellent customer service. Everyone who works there seems happy and professional, which is rare these days in hospitality. As for food, I had the pistachio salmon and it was incredible. I appreciate they have Muskoka Brewery beer as well. This is my go-to local spot.

We visited for lunch and it was fantastic. The espresso martini was well balanced and my lunch partner s mock-tail was beautiful yet tasty. The fish tacos with a side of fries was the perfect amount of food to not have the heavy feeling afterwards! Our server Trinity was kind and attentive.

Not pleased at all I ordered tomato soup on Uber eats and asked for no bacon (due to sensitivities) and ordered the Mac and cheese, I would have liked a call back to let me know they couldn t remove the bacon in the soup instead they wrote it in the lid!! They are quick with taking peoples money but cannot let them know they can t remove ingredients that I physically cannot have! Keep in mind my info was on Uber eats! Anyways I contacted Uber first they told me to contact the restaurant, I did and spoke the David the manager he said he ll call me back in a couple of days figure it out! I got charged for a meal I didn t even have or enjoy! I don t understand why they couldn t let me know and instead write on the lid couldn t remove bacon what can I do with a item I said I could ve have THATS A HEALTH AND SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!

We have come here often and have loved the atmosphere and service along with the food. We did not have a great start to our experience, however Moe the am manger was one of the most amazing restaurant staff Ive had the experience of dealing with and saved our whole experience and will definitely come back. First time venturing to this gem in Barrie where the service and food were top notch! Ordered the pistachio salmon on a bed of mashed potatoes and asparagus and it was fantastic! Hubby ordered the sirloin steak cooked perfecly to order of medium rare with a side of mashed potatoes, sauted mushrooms and asparagus. Meals were served fresh and hot and in a timely manner. Well worth the drive from Alliston and definately returning for another great meal in the near future!

Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options!!! I have high standards and I am personally impressed. Kid-friendliness: These workers are angels! The food is of high quality *most of the time* and the service is almost always quick/promt. Even more important than the generally wonderful quality of products, there are two bartenders/servers that make visiting worth my while. If it were not for Jessica and Diana, I would not bother with this restaurant, but their vibrant souls and EXTREMELY compassionate demeanours keep me coming back, comforted by their humanitarian outlooks and thoroughly generous service.

Wow - Never seen this before and eat out 3 times a week and been at S&M 3 Times this mo. After alerting server we were ready to settle up she left us sitting there for 22 minutes before bringing Bill. Unbelievable disconnect with this young women s attitude and no excuse other than pure stupidity. Food was good and always have had reasonable service in the past. Ordered S&P wings. There served plain wings. When I mentioned it they were replaced with undercooked over spiced ones. I left 7 of the 10 wings and waitress/bar tender never realized there was an issue.

State and Main has long been one of our favorite spots to hit up for a good drink and meal. Stef is an AMAZING bartender who is always smiling! Great spot for cocktails too! I enjoyed the prickly pear margarita last time!

Came here with a couple of work colleagues for the first time and I have to say, everything was top tier! The butter chicken was surprisingly really good and the brussel sprouts are fire! The service we received and the vibe at the restaurant was awesome.

We had dinner this evening, the staff is friendly and good atmosphere. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal and would order it again. I was disappointed in portion size of my salad. I was glad I added a grilled chicken breast but still was hungry after.

Just had a lovely lunch today. Husband had poutine, I had chicken fingers and fries. S&M has the best tendies, and who doesn t love dill dip for the fries??? Our server was Nicole, and she was fantastic, prompt, personable, and just a delight. 10/10, for sure.

My husband and i have date night mostly every Friday night. This week we choose State and Main. Pamela provided wonderful service and they food was great!

Definitely the most uncomfortable dining experience Ive ever had. Our server was super aggressive from the first interaction, it felt like we were a huge burden for coming in and spending a large amount of money. He was very snappy and extremely rude. Our entire table of 7 all work in the service industry and we were all literally in shock that another server would treat a table this way, it was actually mind blowing. I would never come back here.

I found a disgusting long hair in my poutine from ordering uber eats, absolutely ruined my night. All I was looking forward after work was a delicious fresh poutine and I received a dry, cold curd, hairy appetizer.

A franchise restaurant with limited choice on menu but all are goodies in particular steak salad and 2 non-alcoholic cocktails. The sprout as starter is spectacular. My favorite is steak salad with blue cheese.

Recommend by Carmine Lupertazzi for a Father s Day brunch. Service was fantastic, ordered the Boson Burger expecting an exotic taste but, was average at best. The Gumah got the butter chicken which followed the same motif.

My wife and I stumbled across this location on day and really dig the ambiance. The food is excellent, great selection of beer on tap, and some delicious mocktails for the pregnant Mrs. The staff is fantastic and attentive. Definitely recommend stopping in for a pint and a bite!

State and Main has been our go-to place for quite some time. Food and service is always great. A couple of weeks ago we placed an order for pick up. One of our meals turned out to be very disappointing. I called and shared our experience. The manager was excellent and rectified things for our next visit/pick up. The next time we placed a pickup order, the manager on duty knew about the issue and we picked up our order and we were happy, returning customers. Thank you State and Main!

This is one of the best restaurants in Ontario for grilled salmon! It was just perfect!! There was no 1 ingredient on the plate which I did not like!thank you to the chef ! After a long long time Im not disappointed in spending money in a restaurant..every penny was worth it !! Our host Jessica was amazing too ! Loved the ambiance.

Walked in. Asked for seats for two the said it was 30 min wait. Not crazy for a Saturday. Second group walks in they asked the same , they offered them the wait list, then realized they didnt offer us the option after waiting then asked. Then they offered them seating at the bar and took them ahead of us. Then before we could get to the server to ask for the same they sat another group at the bar as they heard the option as well and piped in me too. Moral of the story done expect 100% from them. If you like the food book ahead.

First time visiting this restaurant. Good service, but super heavy on the salt!! I dont understand why so many restaurants do this. More salt does not make food taste better...I ordered the Spicy Tune Poke bowl, from the first bite the sodium took over and that was all I could taste. If youre not a fan of heavy salt use, avoid this establishment.

I feel we waited too long for our server to take our order. Others coming in after us were getting their orders in before us. She was attentive once we received our order. I had the chicken club, the chicken was stringy and if I was so hungry and pressed for time.. I would have sent it back

Everything was fantastic! The food was incredible the service is unmatched I reallly can not find a better establishment that has the best combination of both food and service.

Diana gave us the best dining experience we ve ever received at a restaurant. Her kind, bubbly, energetic personality had us smiling head to toe! Went for dinner the other night and sat at the bar and was served by Jessica. Love being served by her. Great service and always smiling and friendly. It was a bit disappointing though. Every time we go, there are items on the menu that aren t available. This time it was the pretzel bites and calamari. This is the third time in a row the calamari isn t available. I m not usually one to complain, but it s annoying when you go for a specific item and it s never available.

Nothing but good things to say about this place. 5:30pm on Dec 30th... it was busy, but 6 of us sat 1 minute after walking in the door. Manager greeted us immediately. His demeanor wasnt just charming, but witty and welcoming. Sana, our server for the evening, was incredibly attentive. No wait time between drinks. Anything we needed, she was already on her way back to us before we could wave her down. Recommendations for food and drink? No problem. Knowledge of substitutions because of dietary restrictions? Done! Exceptionally good food. The kitchen staff was quick, and everything was prepared beautifully. Portions were perfect. This is truly one of Barries hidden gems... thats not so hidden.

I came yesterday with two friends (new years day) and I have to say the food was absolutely incredible. We had the calamari, spicy tuna tartare, bang, bang shrimp, baja brussel sprouts and the truffle and shrimp rigatoni. Each dish was bursting with flavor, seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend the brussels sprouts they were incredible. Our server was Steph and she gave the best service. I ve probably ever experienced at a restaurant. She was super friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. The managers also came over to check on us and make sure everything was prepared properly and that we were enjoying our meals. Thank you Stayton mean for making our New Year s afternoon a pleasant one

It was our first time in this restaurant and it was for a family birthday. The service was great. The food was great. The all around experience was great!

We were just there for dinner this evening. I ordered the Fish & Chips simply because a neighbouring table had them and they looked good. I specifically asked if there was seasoning put on the fries and told yes at which time I asked for mine without. My partner ordered the Steak Salad; we were told it was the same steak as the keg. My dinner arrived with seasoned fries; I tried one and couldnt eat them. The server did eventually come back and I said there was seasoning on the fries. At the same time I asked if the same seasoning was put in the fish batter because it had an odd taste and she said she would check and let me know. She did offer to replace the fries but I declined. She never did get back to me about the batter. Basically I ate a piece of bland fish with the batter removed and nothing else. The requested vinegar never did arrive. My partners steak was extremely gristly and he left a lot on his plate. The bill arrived at which point the server stood over us while we paid. It will be a long time before I consider returning.

Went here for dinner tonight. Even with the problem I still give everything 5 stars because its deserved. My steak did come over cooked. They made me a new one no questions asked. Mistakes happen. Were only human. They handled it properly and the next one was cooked to perfection. Definitely will go back.

Our server was so unhappy doing her job it put us off enjoying my husbands birthday celebration. She only smiled when she gave us the bill. Our server just complained to the rest of the servers who were so happy and engaging with their customers. We love this place and will be back but she will not be looking after us again. Im so upset with this server she should look elsewhere for employment if she hates her job that much. We where there for lunch at 12 on July 17, 2023.

Walked in on a Sunday during a not busy time , barely anyone in there but they had a 45 minute wait for really no reason, wouldn t sit us in a empty resteraunt so we could have a drink while we wait The young lady at the front clearly didn t want to work there either Wouldn t recommend just go downtown

We have an annual family event and State and Main is our choice to kick off our weekend. We had excellent service from Jessica, who brought humor and professionalism to our table. She didnt blink an eye when we asked for separate bills, ensured our food orders had no errors or mix ups, and made sure our experience was beyond our expectations. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options that are both delicious and healthy! Dietary restrictions: There are many options on the menu for those who are gluten free or allergies to specific ingredients, and they always do their best to accommodate where they can.

Peaceful, calm and relaxing. Great place for a family get together if you like conversing as many restaurants can get too loud. The menu has great range and variety. All the food was fresh, crisp, flavourful, vibrant and colorful. Each dish is prepared with skill and professionalism. The presentation is on point, clean and exciting. I would recommend the Spicy(mild heat) Tuna Poke Bowl or the Teriyaki Rice bowl . Lots of fun great tasting ingredients that satisfies cravings for light, fresh, and dynamic dishes you can feel good about afterwards. The Soup Dumplings make for a nice starter. They pumped full of hot seasoned meat and juices. All the salads are winners . You cannot go wrong with any of them.

My friend took me here to try, I likely would not return. The fish tacos were pretty gross, it tasted like a lot of mayo and fish unfortunately. The fries and dill dip was so yummy. My friends shrimp pasta was yummy though. Service was okay and the atmosphere was really nice. Maybe worth a try but not for the fish tacos. Caesar salad was also nice but thats hard to mess up:)

My family and I visited State and Main while on vacation and we were all very pleased with our meals. Our waitress Jessica was really friendly and provided great service. I would definitely recommend going here if you are in Barrie and want to go somewhere to have a good meal!

New server did great. Over charged on half price wing night and happy hour. No problem mistakes happen, just asked for the money back. Manager comes out offering gift cards for less than the value of the over charge. I, again, ask for my actual money back. He comes back minutes later with his little attitude and cash for, again, less than the value of the over charge. Took my money and left. Will never return.

I always order their food through a delivery app. Tonight Marisa helped rectify an issue with the app. Their food is never cold and always on point. It s nice to be able to rely on the consistency of this restaurant and it s staff

I just had to say thank you for the wonderful Birthday Experience I had yesterday on your patio. I had the Steak and Blue Cheese Salad which was out of the park and then was surprised with a beautiful slice of Ice Cream Birthday Cake. It was a fantastic experience all around and excellent service by Stefanie and all the support staff. Thanks for making it such a special memory.

State and Main has a lot of potential. Service was fair; beer was cold (excellent); food was average. Price was comparable to other popular bar and eatery s in Barrie (Kenz, etc.) Not certain I d recommend to friends and/or family, but I wasn t disappointed. With a little bit of work on service, this restaurant could change direction very quickly.

Always enjoy our dinner here. They have great gluten free options including New Grist beer! I think it is the only restaurant in Barrie that has this beer on their menu. A little bit noisy for my senior parents. Not sure why when a restaurant is full with lots of noise, there is also music playing. I haven t noticed it being this loud on previous visits. Perhaps it was just the volume of people. Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten free options. Buns don t fall apart like other restaurants.

Great service by Stephanie and Moe. The Enchiladas were fantastic. Cost is middle.of the road. About 20 to 25 per plate.

This was my first time at this restaurant and I met a friend for lunch. I was blown away by how personable and attentive our server Stefanie was. I felt like I was being served by a friend and she made me feel very welcome! The food was beyond delicious and also had a wonderful presentation so my expeience was also visually pleasing. Will absolutely be returning again for dinner to try some of their mains!

Had a great early dinner here with a friend, served by Diana who was very attentive, friendly and competent. We enjoyed the raspberry mocktail, Brussels sprouts app, and shrimp rigatoni! Parking: Lots of free parking Wheelchair accessibility: The entrance may be difficult to navigate due to a few turns and limited space just inside the entrance, and they have a limited number of floor seating available. Most seating is either high top tables or booths that you have to step up into. The booth cushions are firm and comfortable for a bad back or hips.

Good food and excellent service. Staff was nice, courteous, and attentive, steak was cooked to perfection.

State and Main has been our go to lunch spot after the kids weekend sport programs. The whole family enjoys the menu. The best part by far, is the service. We are mostly taken care of by Victoria. She is an excellent server, very attentive and has great memory, always remember drink and food orders from past visits. Victorias welcoming attitude and attentiveness keeps us coming back.

We come here often, as we like the atmosphere, service, food and daily specials. Especially Thursdays half priced bottles of wine! Jenny, our server tonight did an excellent job. Mehool, the manager, is always present, and tonight fixed an issue with the meal that we didnt expect. What a great team.

Had an awesome time at a great restaurant with super-friendly staff! The food was amazing, and special thanks to Catherine for the wonderful service. It truly made the experience memorable.

I reserved a table on open table, my father is currently on crutches with a broken leg, but there was no where to put that on open table so I just booked, well my husband and dad arrived before me and prior to even discussing anything the manager had an awful attitude just asking for the reservation name. Then proceeded to tell my husband and dad that I didn t book an accessible table and I should have called but our party wasn t even concerned, it was almost as if he was afraid we were blaming him, maybe? Anyway in this almost empty restaurant he sits us up to a bar height table which again was fine we didn t book anything for accessibility ALTHOUGH there wasn t a spot to, and the restaurant stayed pretty empty the whole time we were there so he most likely could have put us elsewhere and possibly didn t to prove a point?? Either way his customer service skills are far from on point!

While we didn t have a reservation this evening, I came in with an air cast on my foot asking for a low table to accommodate my cast. We were totally dismissed and their approach to our ask was rude and completely disrespectful. Sitting at a high table was near impossible for me and they had zero regard or care for my situation. The hostess was rude and the manger did nothing to help. We will not be back and will tell others with special needs when dining to not visit this location.

This was our first visit to State & Main. I made a reservation as I heard from others it was usually busy and there were wait times. Making a reservation was super easy. Staff were amazing and so welcoming. From the hostess to our waitress Nicole, the service was stellar. Nicole was helpful and was on top of it all. Super service. Food was amazing as well. We each had something different and each meal was delicious and our requests were accommodated. This is 100% our new favorite restaurant. We will be back. Thanks Nicole for making our first visit memorable. Dietary restrictions: They ask right up front if there are any dietary restrictions or allergies and add it to the table order so the chefs know. It was great.

This was my first time dining at State and Main. Loved the atmosphere and the service. Staff is very attentive. I ordered the shrimp rigatoni with black truffle sauce. $26 for a handful of rigatoni, maybe 5 small shrimp and maybe 3 mushrooms chopped. The sauce was just oily and the prosciutto was ground up fine. Nothing like the photo on your website. It was flavourful but not worth $26. Just a heads up!
