I ordered sushi rolls tonight from this place it was absolutely the worst sushi I ever ate! Fish was old and my stomach is killing me! I been eating sushi for 20 years and never seen anything like this!

I spent over 300 hundred and it was the worst sushi my family has ever had It wasn t fresh it was disgusting. I ordered from here off of their strong previous reviews and I think they have manufactured their great reviews because the sushi was awful I will never order sushi here again

Food 5*... Food was good. Atmosphere 0*... Unless you like stale cigarette smoke smell, out of order washrooms, ugly decorations, and sitting in a rendomly broken up living room with no windows and no ac. Service 2*... servant was extremely shy and quiet, didnt know the menu items, and never once came by unless called upon. At least they didnt charge automatic gratuity like many other places.

Best sushi weve ever had! We had an assortment of sushis and sashimis, the Boston roll and the Rainbow Dragon roll. The chef treated us to delicious bluefin tuna sashimi - it literally melted in our mouths. Cant wait to stop in again!

Our friends came over from Toronto and we were looking for a sushi place. My husband was sceptical about going somewhere where we haven t been before however we were very pleasantly surprised with this little gem downtown. Very small but the food was fresh, and delicious. Four of us ate to the point where we couldn t take another bite and even had to take a dogie bag all for $105.00. Highly recommend.

This was my first time having Tteokbokki and my mind and taste buds were blown away If you re ever in need of some amazing rice cakes in Barrie this is the place to order from!! 100/10!!

Was excited to find a place that offered Korean food in Barrie. We ordered the bibimbap with beef and pork bone soup - the flavour was so-so for both but the portions were tiny for the price and the amount of meat was a joke. The pork bone soup had two bones, quarter of a potato, and two pieces of cabbage.

A surprise gem! A long hallway takes you into a comfortable dining area and a warm welcome. The food is delicious and there are typical Japanese beers, sake and also soju if youve been watching too much Korean drama. Eating out is expensive but at least this place wont put you into cardiac arrest. Most enjoyable!

Best sushi place in Barrie right now! .

The food was delicious, we got a lot of the dragon rolls, and not only were they quickly made, but also fresh and perfect !!! There wasnt a ton of rice like in other restaurants, and it wasnt overly sweet. There were more fillings and the rice bowls were very nice! The miso soup was nice and super delicious, and the salmon and ikura were so gentle and delicious, they melted in my mouth, two (usually, in other restaurants) large bubble teas together were about 12, and 6 for one! The service was great, two people, super polite and friendly. The cost for three people and a lot of food we couldnt even finish because of the sheer amount in comparison to price only came to be 150. Very satisfied! The atmosphere was very nice, everything was extremely clean and neat, and was almost home-like. Very cozy, quiet, and nice. There were just a few spots in the restaurant that could be seen as slightly cramped and the lighting in the bathroom can be better, but this isnt a worry as everything else was substantial and great! They even do delivery and take out. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and would definitely go here again! Wheelchair accessibility: I seen there were larger toilets for wheelchairs

This is my new favourite Sushi spot in town. I don t leave reviews normally but felt the need too on this one. Didn t even know this place was around - absolute gem of a place. Sashimi and Rolls are amazing . The owner is also incredible. Highly recommend. Will be back for sure!

We decided to try this place based on the good reviews, ordered through Skip on February 3, 2024. Normally, we order a platter from Diamond. We ordered the 45 piece platter without knowing what it contains. The selection was ok other than only one shrimp sushi. The salmon sashimi had bones in it. The sushi rolls contained battered shrimp tails with no shrimp meat. Overall the food did not taste fresh and was loaded with sodium (even without soya sauce). So disappointed and will not be ordering again. Dont waste your money at this restaurant, there is better in Barrie (even grocery store sushi is better).

The food was by far the best Sushi I have had in Barrie and even Toronto. The price was also surprisingly great, we expected to pay much more for this quality of food. We showed up a little earlier than their opening time and the server welcomed us without issue. She was very kind and the atmosphere was great. We usually don t enjoy having a restaurant to ourselves but this was actually quite nice. We will definitely be back.

Delicious experience We had a great Sunday lunch at this cozy place in downtown Barrie. The food was delicious, good quality ingredients and the lady chef was so kind and welcoming to us even though if happened that she was the only staff. We will keep coming back and we also have it earmarked as takeout option.

Visited this casual Japanese spot with my friends today. We all got the lunch bento box which was filling and budget friendly. We would recommend the galbi bento box. For a casual Japanese meal I would recommend visiting.

The amazing roll was exactly that - Amazing! Highly recommended this little gem. One recommendation is to focus on those in the store as much as the take out orders. We sat for some time before being served and that shouldnt be the case as we did not come during a busy time.

We have now ordered twice from Kinja and have been extremely impressed with the quality of the food. This place, by far, is amongst some of the best sushi we have had. Fresh. Great presentation. They don t skimp on ingredients. All around, fantastic. Their customer service is also excellent. Tonight, while waiting for our order to arrive, the restaurant called me to say they had forgotten our miso soups in the order (being a busy night), and that they were going to deliver them directly to our house. 15 minutes later, the woman I had spoken with on the phone showed up at our door, apologetic and very friendly. Truly impressed with their dedication. Highly highly recommended.

Was excited to try their poke bowl but very disappointed unfortunately. It looks nothing like their photos on their Google page. Veges were frozen mixed peas, carrots and corn. Yuck! Where are the fresh veges and Avocado ? Barely any fish on top. $1 extra for spicy sauce. No nori, or salmon roe. No sesame seeds. Nothing . And why are there massive pieces or raw onion ? Thank you for the quick response but the poke bowl picture is definitely not the spicy salmon dish you speak of and the pic was taken at your restaurant (on your placemats at your tables).

What a wonderful place! Food quality and quantity are incredible. We were wowed from the first bite to the last. I don t think I can say enough great things - just look at my picture of the lobster roll - think how good that can be now times that by 100 and that s how good it is. - also the staff was so helpful and fun, thank you guys so much for the great dinner!

A cozy little spot to enjoy sushi. We ordered green dragon roll, spicy tuna and lobster roll. Turns out spicy tuna was the best. Parking: Its a street parking, free on weekends and after 5pm.

When words can not express an experience. This is the place you want to share with someone. Dine in and tip well, they are busy. Be patient, and perfection will arrive. The entire staff is wonderful. This is the best hidden gem is Barrie by far. Vegetarian options: They will accommodate from what Ive seen. They care about their guests. Parking: Free parking is conditional, usually free. If not, pay the $2 meter and have the best sushi by far for miles around. Easy choice. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly.

My daughter and I had lunch at Kinja Sushi yesterday. It was excellent. The sashimi is first-rate quality. ALL THE FOOD IS. I became a sushi/sashimi nut after my first visit to Japan in 1983, and Im so glad to have found this little place right here in Barrie. Very friendly and attentive staff. Domo arigato. My Gods. If you are looking for a culinary treat to light up your senses. This is the place. Eat bit is crisp and clean. Each flavour coming through, distinct and impactful. The broth in the soups are spectacular. 10/10 highly recommend.

The best dynamite roll sushi in Barrie. They also serve Ramen in big servings but at reasonable price. Though the place is a bit small, it gives you a warm, homey feel. The owner herself is the one who served our orders which for us is a plus for personal touch. They also serve the best Korean Pat Bingsu dessert in Barrie. We really enjoy our dinner there.

Finally an Japanese restaurant with fresh delicious authentic food. Absolutely the best in Barrie. Restaurant itself is very small but they do have takeout.

Great quality sushi. Very well prepared by the chef. Fresh ingredients. Friendly staff and very reasonable wait times for food to be prepared fresh. I tried the Angry Salmon Maki Rolls. It is a unique take on traditional way its made. I recommend you try it if you are a fan of spicy salmon maki.

Edit: I just tried their tteokbokki for the first time and it was absolutely delicious with the perfect amount of chewiness! Please try their Korean food as well! This has to be my favourite restaurant in Barrie, they never fail to provide fresh and tasty food. I just ordered delivery from Kinja Sushi for the first time, I got the Sashimi Lunch Bento... It was absolutely fantastic! This has to be the best delivery sushi in Barrie! The portions of the bento were perfect and I didnt feel overly stuffed afterwards, but extremely satisfied! The sashimi were so fresh and buttery, the california rolls were amazing, the salad was crisp with a yummy dressing, the steamed rice was perfect and the miso soup was so warm and comforting! I look forward to trying more bentos from here, please give them a try!

I went there today with my friend; one of the BEST sushi places Ive been to. Very fresh ingredients with amazing taste. Prices are really reasonable and the service was amazing. The owner was so friendly and accommodating and the food was ready fairly quick in respect to it only being her working at the time. The place was clean and put together and the choice of music was very fitting. Definitely a laidback restaurant while also having amazing presentation and a comfortable atmosphere. Likely the best fish variety and selection in all of Barrie

We tried Kinja Sushi for the first time last weekend and was totally happy with everything we got. We purchase the sashimi plater and had some additional rolls that were great. (loved how they torched the top of the roll). The lady that greeted us when we arrived so so nice which was a great change from other locations. We will be making this our new sushi place. Looking forward to being able to eat in.

Placed an order at 5:30 on Doordash and the order was cancelled at 7pm by the Dasher because the restaurant still hadnt prepared the order. When Doordash Support was contacted, they said that the Dasher closed the order because the restaurant was closed, so we called the restaurant. During the phone call, they said that the order was half-done (after an hour and a half) and had did not apologise for the situation. 90 minutes wasted.

Got a maki set with a cali roll, spicy salmon and tuna rolls and the specialty amazing roll and oh my god the sushi was top shelf! The amazing roll has a house made garlic sauce and is finished with a blowtorch. Definitely would recommend to everyone. I would say it s the best sushi i ve had in Barrie.

This review is for excellent Sushi and wonderful friendly customer service with efforts put into every detail of my experience. I had made a very large order and request specific to my shellfish allergy Note * I have not had a reaction since my early teens as I actively avoid so I am not aware of the current severity. My wife however is obsessed with sushi and all shellfish native to her east coast roots I take some risks every once in a while for the sake of living a little. I started my order with a specific text requesting almost everything on the menu without shellfish or crab (even if artificial) to help avoid the risk. I was then called within 15 minutes to discuss the severity and type of allergy I had. The lady putting together my order was very clear on detail and what I chose that wouldn t be safe and what she could modify to make safe. I picked up my very large order (with about 1hr notice) everything was pieced together perfectly . I will note that we found shrimp on one of the platters. I do not know if it was habit, mix up or misunderstanding but she was clear that they cleaned all surfaces and changed tools between types of sushi made. I avoided the container that had the shrimp piece and had a TON of everything else and was perfectly fine. Everything was fresh and very tasty. She even told me to avoid any tempura or fried menu items as the oils are shared with shellfish orders sometimes and didn t want me to risk it. Top notch experience.

Made a reservation early valentines morning and when I got there at dinner for my reservation time they told me that they had no servers. Would have been great to know over the phone when I called as it was Valentine s Day and hard to find anywhere to go that s not booked already. Ended up going out to wild wings and movies and made the best out of it and had a perfect night anyways! Obviously never got to try the food but I won t be going back.

The service is amazing and the food quality is exceptional - we are visiting from Toronto and usually go to other spots in Barrie but today took a chance. This place deserves all the stars, every dish is on point. Barrie is lucky to have a restaurant like this. We will can t to come back the next time we are in town. We ordered salmon, blue fin tuna and squid sashimi. For rolls we ordered the Amazing, the Hurricane and the Snow Dragon. Also, Agedashi tofu and soft shell crab. - for 3 people - so worth it (obvi we had takeout).

The quality of the sushi and the other menu items is a breath of fresh air, with the variety and execution of the food being well above excellence. The location itself is super clean and well-kept with a cozy, intimate atmosphere. The owner is the nicest lady and is very understanding and accommodating to those with severe allergies; something I cannot be more appreciative of. Despite not being all-you-can-eat, you will certainly come to agree that Kinjas high-quality fare is worth paying a little more. Overall, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem within Barrie and I will be sure to recommend it to anyone who loves Japanese food. I look forward to dining there whenever I can!

Since discovering this little gem downtown Barrie, I cannot stop eating there! The menu is a la carte and centred around a small and varied selection, allowing the food to be served fresh straight from the kitchen to your table! The sashimi dinner never fails to disappoint, the fish quality itself supremely fresh and prepared beautifully each time I have ordered it. They also serve the BEST takoyaki I have ever eaten at any restaurant serving it ever. You can tell that preparing and serving these stunning meals isnt just a business but is a labour of love. If you are looking for an incredible sushi and food experience, I highly recommend Kinja Sushi!

Got to try Kinja this weekend and we were very pleased! Tasted great at a great price. Have been trying a lot of sushi in Barrie and Kinja is one of our top choices now. Friendly staff that made us feel very welcomed. My only wish was the tray came with spicy salmon rolls but other than that it was terrific. Cant wait to order again!

Went here for lunch on a Sunday around 12:30. The place was empty when we came in, so was quickly greeted and seated. Their in store menu is the same as their take out and delivery menu, which was what we ordered from. Ended up getting the lunch Bento box (tempura option), which came with California rolls, salad, miso soup, tempura, gyoza, and rice. Everything arrived quickly and tasted great. If Im in the area, would go again.

We drive 45 minutes to get take out here. This is the best sushi around and a must try if you have not yet.

Whattttt!!!!! Awesome, excellent and spectacularly clean sushi/rolls. I have eaten sushi many places but never found one like this. This place is a gem. Worth every penny. You can taste the love in the art and flavor of the food there. Unfortunately my husband didnt get to taste it because I couldnt leave any for him maybe next time.

The quality is really good, and the extra touches they add to their sushi is more in line with higher end places - wasabi rubbed on the rice for the sushi pieces, beautifully carved sashimi, house made sauces added to some sushi pieces to enhance the flavour, etc. I ordered for pickup, and the service was phenomenal - more than happy to make substitutions to sets, offering some more fun sushi choices to try, incredibly friendly and personable service.
