Old-school and creative Indian dishes in a stylish restaurant with neutral decor and a large garden.
A 40 minute drive for Sunday lunch! To be honest, if it was a lot closer, I would be a regular customer but just too far for a return visit. However, the food is superb together with outstanding service. This is a large restaurant and as such, whilst beautifully designed, had little atmosphere and would be extremely noisy when full which it wasn't at all for our lunch. Not cheap but worth the cost. NOT your average Indian!
This was the worst experience I've ever had in an Indian restaurant in my life. The manager was rude, and completely ignored the problems my husband and I experienced during our meal, which were many. The portion sizes were minuscule and the food was cold and tasteless. This has to be the worst experience for a restaurant I'd booked as my restaurant of choice for my 40th birthday celebrations having been recommended by a friend. When the booking was made, the restaurant was notified of my big birthday, but no one made any mention of it on arrival and they gave us a terrible table which we asked to change. It was cold and drafty, and even when we asked, they did nothing about it. We asked for the owners name and were told we couldn't have it. Avoid this restaurant at any cost if you don't wish to waste your evening and money. The owners need to mystery shop this restaurant and see just arrogant, rude unforgiving and nasty the manager is. Barely 1 star in our opinion . .
Went for afternoon tea for my daughters birthday and I must say I was impressed. Lovely place and service outstanding. Very attentive and caring. Will be back 100%
Absolutely disgusting service. Went for a birthday afternoon tea , booked weeks in advance for 2pm. Service prior to attendance was great, lots of follow up calls advise of a nut allergy, and 4 vegetarians and 4 meat eaters. Table was lovely set when we arrived, I did request somewhere cool as we had a baby with us and it was very hot. The afternoon tea set layout was lovely but it went crash landing down hill: No water served so had to request this repeatedly. No tea so had to ask for this and was only given Indian tea which was not authentic towards the end of the meal. Meat samosas served on the vegetarian afternoon tea, only noticed when it was cut into. Nuts on the tray for someone with a nut allergy. No dips served, had to ask for this. Waiters were clueless and rude, asked for a tea top up and was still waiting 30 minutes later.....we are still waiting...🤔 It got to the point where we gave up asking for basic things, like cutlery and water as this took ages to arrive or didn't arrive. Scones arrived at the end with no cream, so I asked the man (who I can only assume was the manager) to provide this after he seemed surprised it hadn't come already. Waiters were laughing in full nkew of us at the fact we didn't get any extra tea and the poor service, which was heartbreaking as it was for mums 71st birthday where were all travelled from over an hour away and she barely goes out due to limited mobility. She was so excited to go and got dressed up, which made this occasion even more heartbreaking. Supposed manager was argumentative when we provided feedback and his good will gesture was to remove the "optional" service charge from the bill, where he out the bill on the table and walked off. Menu states: A CHOICE OF OUR SELECTION OF FINE LOOSE LEAF TEAS INDIAN CHILLI PANEER Batons of Indian cottage cheese tossed with spring onions and peppers in a sticky sweet sauce MIXED VEGETABLE WRAP Mixed vegetables in a masala sauce wrapped in a homemade chapati GINGER POTATO Potato cakes stuffed with lentil and topped with ginger SAG ALOO SKEWER Spinach and potato pieces rolled together with turmeric DELICATELY SPICED VEGETABLE SAMOSA Triangular pastry pockets filled with lightly spiced mixed vegetables PAKORA Spring vegetables mixed with aromatic herbs and spices bound together with gram flour MANGO LASSI Indian infused mango milkshake GULAB JAMUN A milky Indian sponge soaked in a sugary syrup BOMBAY MESS Crushed meringue, mango and cream topped with grated pistachio MACARONS Assorted tea-flavoured macarons FRESHLY-MADE FRUIT SCONES DESSERT OF THE DAY There was NO selection fine lose leaf teas, nor ginger potato. The afternoon tea was preagreed for 2pm, via a telephone booking, if this was an issue, staff should have raised this then as we were happy to book it earlier. We were told the staff were waiting for us to leave and the chef had left so thrown everything away. There was only 1 other group so it wasn't busy to warrant the poor customer service. I wouldn't even bother wasting your time. Lovely décor but the staff and customer service is shockingly disgusting. Go Southall where the food will be authentic. If I could give less that 1 star I would. Save your money, don't let them mess up your day and avoid at all cost. Absolutely ripoff.
We went for an afternoon tea which was overall an extremely poor experience. The food was varied but could have done with more authentic flavour and spice. They failed to even ask us for drink and it was a very hot day! One jug of water between 8 people and we had to ask for more. The restaurant had 2 tables occupied so there was no excuse for the lack of service. The tea was only served once we asked and even then it was not as per advertised. Our service was very poor and the restaurant payed no attention to cross contamination despite being told this before and after our visit. In particular someone with a nut allergy was served a Macaroon. The vegetarian dishes all had meat samosas served. Despite raising our concerns the staff displayed a lack of care or regard. I will not be visiting again! This is the worst afternoon tea experience to date.
Very poor service for afternoon tea. Would not recommend. Vegetarians was given meat samosa to our disgust. An individual with nut allergy was offered macaroons. Advertised is a selection of tea however given a basic select of food and a thimble of masala tea. We were told the chef had left for home at 2:30 and could't give more food or drink even though our booking was at 2pm. Afternoon tea all for £35 per head... Very poor form guys. We were made to feel us being there was an inconvenience for the staff. I hope the restaurant takes notice of this because we feel hugely let down by the restaurant and staff (who were laughing in the corner at us for some reason). Very disappointed for a birthday occasion!
Just went for food with me and 2 friends asked for a sizzling chicken tikka and he said they have that they brought out some chicken sitting in water! Absolutely disgusting when I send it back and said I don’t like it he then argued and said that they don’t do that on there menu they removed the food from the bill but said very sarcastically once I was leaving to not return!!!!!! Would never come back again all the chicken looked pink food was absolutely rotten
We went there as a group for Indian afternoon Tea on a Saturday. We were the only ones there, so it was quiet and not that atmospheric but the food was varied and plenty of it which was good. I would say that it wasn't that spicy which was a shame, I think as a standard they should serve some of it with chutneys etc but we had to ask. It's worth going for the Indian Afternoon Tea experience.
Went for afternoon Indian Tea but the irony was that they have no idea what Indian Tea is and gave us some boiled water with a few herbs!! This is truly misleading and should not be allowed. The service was below par and they could do with basic training in this area as well. Vegetarian options: Have vegeta
Never go here!! They are awful! So rude! I have never come across such rude people!
Good food and fairly attentive service, expensive though.
AVOID. Genuinely worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant. Food was not good either, I would not go back even if I was paid to. We had wrong dishes arrive, some dishes not arrive at all, drinks not turning up and half items on menu not available. Completely ruined the day. Service was shockingly bad. Staff were clueless, rude and unhygienic. We were charged for items we did not even have and then when I raised this they just said they had run out... Yet still thought it was ok to charge! Obviously I asked for the items to be removed from the bill and staff said they could not... even though we had not even had it!! Then when I asked for the manager he was even more obnoxious. I have never been treated with such disrespect where I am a paying customer AND when they were in the wrong and I should not have been paying for items I did not receive. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all
It was my uncles bright day we went to Spice Merchant, Excellent Mansur and his team are brilliant. food is exceptional and staff and friendly Recommend to everyone Food
Spice merchants. Merchants of the spice. Who is the spice man? Mansur. This place is fantastic - take your partner, take your mates, take your grandmother s urn - she wouldn t want to miss one. Bashir is one-of-a-kind bossman with a refreshing view of the world and witty insights (not to mention an exceptional singing voice). Shame he s a United fan!!! PSA for all those who are reading this - please visit, you won t leave disappointed. Spice merchants. Merchants of the spice. Who is the spice man? Mansur.
I went for an afternoon tea / birthday meal. Whilst the food was nice I would not recommend due to service. Vegetarian and meat dishes got mixed up and we were not made to feel welcome at all by staff or manager.
Dont waste your time, poor service and poor attitude. Very bad afternoon tea, my daughter has a nut allergy but despite them being told this in advance of our booking we were still served Macarons on the same plate. Dont think they care about cross contamination, though maybe a visit from FSA might make them take it seriously. They dont know the difference between veg and non veg as we were served meat samosas on the vegetarian platter. Save your money and go elsewhere. Wont be returning.
Nice restaurant very nice staff and the food wow no words for how good the Quality of the food is will be back again
Eaten here a number of times. But food was bland and underwhelming. Also disappointed that they tried to serve us an extra dish, which we sent back, lead waiter then came to check that we hadnt ordered it . When the bill arrived we had been charged for the extra dish. Wont be returning or to their other restaurant in Cookham.
We had afternoon tea which was amazing with lots of varieties of food. We will definitely come back.
The chilli heat overtook anything not sure if there was any flavour. Quick to get you a drink to slap up the total. Over loud locals who were playing videos from their phone. So the clientele was lovely. Onion bhaji nearly bigger than a badminton racket.....very off putting. Hubby went to Birmingham a few days before and had a better curry for half the price.
Another amazing takeaway of delicious Indian food. The onion bhajee was the size of a melon and absolutely delicious!
Nice food and wonderful service will back again
Been coming here for 30+ years. my sons cleared their plate. Mansur was the perfect host and make us all feel welcome. Great service, incredible food. Thank you guys
Food was lovely, however - do not get a soft drink. We ve just been charged £22.00 for 3 cokes! Cheaper to drink alcohol!! Outrageous, daylight robbery! Food
Amazing curry, great service, 10/10
It s a real shame the service and wait time let this restaurant down as the food is good. We visited for a celebration meal, 30 minutes to take our drinks order, 2h 30 to receive our main courses. By this point none of us were hungry and we just wanted to go home. The waiters did not apologise once, instead they made jokes which were not well received. Hopefully service improves as it could be great, but there are too many tables crammed in which can t be attended to properly and also take out/ delivery. The food is tasty but it is expensive - which would be worth the price if served in a timely manner.
Food was average, but price was high. Service was good but we were rushed to order starters and mains together. It was cold where we were sitting too.
So we randomly stumbled on this place and were blown away. First of all the staff and owner were so attentive and looked after us. They spoke to my son and even made us laugh. The food was top notch. We ordered lamb chops for starters and they were cooked to perfection. The tandoori chicken and lamb was very nice. All in all such a great meal with touch of luxury. Also, didnt mess my stomach. The food was quite high quality...being an Indian myself I am very fussy about good Indian restaurants. Definitely will visit here many times. Also, the ambience is great .
We booked a surprise indian afternoon tea party for my mum s 60th birthday and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. The manager and staff were very friendly and accommodating. We booked out a section in the conservatory area, which we were able to decorate for the occasion. The food was incredible and the chef had even made extra complimentary dishes. All of the guests loved the food and quantity wise it was perfect, and we were able to take home any extras. When it came to cutting the cake, the manager even provided us with a lovely cake stand. Overall a great experience. We did run out of tea, but that s because it was so good that we drank so much of it. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, would have also been good if there were also some egg-free or vegan menus for the Indian afternoon tea Parking: Plenty of large parking spaces on the main road
Everything is perfect.
I dont know how they can make food this tasty it transports me to another realm. I close my eyes and glimmers of heaven leak into my being like rays of sunlight in the hot noon of the day. Ive never been to India, but this food makes me wonder if Ill ever need to.
Best Indian around this area, car parking is a nightmare. Food always excellent, service good only downside, door left open for about 15 minutes while they had a delivery. So bloody cold. Vegetarian options: Loads
5 star all round cant fault anything here. Beautiful food fantastic staff cant wait for our next visit
Lovely restaurant. Food is so much better than the normal Indian restaurant, and the place is immaculate. Lovely friendly staff.
For a quick meal the prices are a bit more than your local Indian. Having said that, the food is superb and one of the best Indian restaurants we have visited in a while. The food was delicious and staff very attentive.
We ate afternoon tea here to celebrate a 90th birthday. From the warm welcome to the friendly service to the delicious food we had a super time!
Best Indian food I have ever had. Do not miss the onion bhaji
Tried to book afternoon tea here twice. Spoke to an extremely unhelpful and arrogant manager who answered my questions with a questions! Havent tried this place and wouldnt want to after that :/
Great food and atmosphere . Ill be going again.
Me and husband went to spice merchant on a Friday evening expecting to taste some good Indian spice food .its very unfortunate none of the food we tasted meets our expectations The chicken lollipop was semi cooked could see traces of blood in the bones The devil shrimp was even more worse ,it typically had raw smell I would never recommend this place .
Wow... found this restaurant by chance. After a weekend away and at least an hour from home, heading northbound on the M40. Instead of heading to the services for dinner we turned right for Beaconsfield (<5mins). We were very warmly welcomed. I highly recommend the Goan style Monkfish, my husband had the Lamb Shank, also delicious, even the after dinner mints were on another level. Service was very attentive and friendly. Thank you and if were ever passing by again will call in x Demi
Always love coming here. Great food and and absolutely lovely team who look after you. Naz looked after us this evening and he was particularly charming and very attentive. Even opened the door for us on the way out. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon.
Awful experience here. The chicken lollypop was undercooked and cold. The food was generally bland. The naan we had ordered was rock solid. Very expensive and the standard of the food does not match the prices
Food is absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Service is amazing, Are waiter Naz was very friendly and made sure we was comfortable and had everything we needed. The restaurant as a whole is amazing
Great food, amazing tikka masala sauce, and very friendly service from Naz!
Wonderful team led by Mansur great character will definitely come back
Very friendly staff and great food.
All round great. Food and service. Recommended. Dishes with good flavour! Food
Great service, great food and very impressive onion bhajis
Spice merchant, more like rip off merchants, 2 curries 2 rice, 3 cobra £75 including the service charge of 15% or so. just your average curry wouldn t say it s worth the price.
Amazing food and service, thank you all. :))
Excellent food and excellent service. Very friendly and accommodating. We, group of 7 had gone for high tea. Good portions, more than enough, and best masala chai. Will go again I am sure
6 papadoms with dips, 1 lamb samosa starter, 1 lamb shish starter, 2 main curry s, 2 rice, 2 naan, 4 beers - £125!!!!! Most disappointing is the lamb dhansak wasn t even a lamb dhansak. Fully made up on the night, without lentils??!! I ve been having these all my life including from their OTHER restaurant in Datchet so there s no schooling me on this dish. Absolutely waste of money will never return and most likely stop using the Datchet one too!
Spice is a great restaurant of choice at all times. I have been here on many occasions and can highly recommend..the food is amazing and the service is brilliant. The lady I believe owner is always In the restaurant and often makes guest feel welcome and goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your dinning experience there.
One of the best restaurants in Beaconsfield. The service by the staff is amazing and the food is ideal for what you need. If you can manage it, ask for a seat the open conservatory dining area, especially at night, it adds a really nice feeling to your meal. The food is also bang on for spiciness, flavour and how hot it s served, starters and drinks are quick to come out and the waiters are on it, some waiters can be a bit intense on getting an order out of you because it s so busy and popular. and I think that s why I ve had to drop a star because I feel they are trying to pack more people in which in turn makes it noisy and you feel like you re sitting on top of each other, it s a tricky balance for a very popular place to make and in the current climate, places do need to survive. I m still going to recommend them because if you can put up with the nitpicky stuff you won t regret it.
The food was very bland & extremely overpriced! After being served our main course the waiter left us with the desert menu only to return & be told we could not order desert as they are fully booked & require the table. How RUDE! When the bill arrived they charged us for food we didn t even order! Very bad service & definitely will not be returning!
Lovely food and very accomodating, respectful staff.
Clearly a popular restraunt, staff are extremely lovely and great to talk to. I thought that the food was lovely just ridiculously over priced, then ontop of that the service charge was quiet high. My work colleges ordered papadums and each papadum cost £1 and that was including another £5 for the chutney which didnt have the cucumber Rait or vegetables. We asked for seperate reciepts as it was work dinner, they found it so difficult to do that. Dont know if i would go back for the cost..
Ive given them one star as the food and service was very good. However they are a bunch of conning crafty money swindlers who add a service charge without telling you then when you pay by card it asks you to add a service charge yourself on top of the one that they have sneaked on. Having not noticed at the time contacted them about it and they werent interested so wont be going back as previously planned.
We went as a group of four and it was very busy on a Saturday afternoon. The front of the restaurant is dedicated to takeaways, which slightly detracts from the atmosphere (the staff too busy being on the phone rather than welcome guests). The food was delicious, though took about an hour to arrive. In a way this was nice as we were not hurried along and were supplied with drinks and poppadoms, just something to be mindful of.
Stunning cuisine
Excellent Indian afternoon tea, weve had it twice now and it has been fantastic both times. Excellent service, lovely restaurant and some of the best Indian food Ive had. Will be coming back soon for sure!
We went here today for my sisters birthday, as we had been here before and it used to be great. However, the standards have dropped majorly. The lollipop chicken was completely burnt, when we complained to the staff, the waitress replied with No, it s not burnt this is how WE make our chicken she seemed very stuck up and didn t want to admit that the chicken was completely over cooked, nor did she apologise or even take it off the bill like most restaurants do. Secondly, the waiters were hovering around us and made us feel very uncomfortable, we couldn t even talk privately without them standing around and listening to our conversations. The atmosphere was completely dead especially for a bank holiday weekend. When it came to ordering drinks the waiter said we don t have Pepsi max, sprite, fanta, mocktails, or sweet Lassi. We were shocked because they didn t seem to have anything. Even the vegetarian starters were very limited compared to most other Indian restaurants. The food was a joke, the raita was sweet, the food lacked flavour no spices or anything, the broccoli tasted like charcoal absolutely disgusting! Overall very disappointing, and it s an expensive place so you d expect top quality food and great service, but everything from the food, and the service and even the lack of things on the menu made it a terrible experience for us. We wanted my sister to enjoy her birthday but unfortunately this place has gone down hill, and nobody liked the food, and the way we were treated by the staff, therefore we won t be returning here ever again!
Celebrated a birthday party recently at this place. Food was good and so is the venue. However, we were conned by the owner who added a few hundred pounds to an already agreed price in the name of service charge a few days before the event. He also conveniently forgot the number of people agreed, so was asked to pay a couple of hundred more again (even though I had a message from them giving the actual numbers, he said it wasnt from them!!). I should have read previous reviews before deciding on this place. 2 stars for the food and venue, would have been -2 otherwise. Make sure you get everything in writing if you do decide to go this place. I dont seem to be the only one to have these issues.
Biggest onion bargies Ive ever seen. Great lamb shank as well
Came here for fathers birthday. Worst Indian we have ever had. Bit into a chicken samosa, it was still frozen. Rocks solid and icy bits inside. Very scary.
We consider this our local Indian, never disappoints and the Onion Bhaji is out of this world!
Delicious meal in a beautiful restaurant on our way back to London from the Cotswolds. Staff were very welcoming. No layers of oil in the food, yet still very tasty, actually felt healthy!
Service and food second to none. Made to feel special
Ive dined here twice in the last year and both visits have been excellent. The service is very attentive and the food is delicious. Great flavours, nice presentation, and even the spicer dishes have a heat that is balanced and doesnt hit you in the throat. And as other reviewers have said, the onion bhaji is something to behold (its the size of a melon, dont order it if theres just two of you!). Yes Spice Merchant is pricey, but this is Beaconsfield so it shouldnt come as a big surprise. Will definitely be going again.
I have to say this Restaurant surpassed all my expectations! The staff were friendly, polite and professional at all times. The food was absolutely delicious and we were made to feel very special indeed. A big shout out to Ash who was amazing. Without exception the staff were excellent I highly recommend this restaurant. Vegetarian options: A wonderful and beautifully prepared range of vegetarian options! Watch out for the onion bhaji, it s enough to feed four! Totally delicious!
Another lovely Friday evening at our favourite place. Wonderful food and service as always. Thank you !
Always a lovely evening. Fabulous food and a beautifully welcoming team. Looking forward to coming back again soon!
Fantastic place to eat, experienced slightly tarnished by shouting kids running around but other times has been nice and quieter
Amazing food and Fantastic service. Cannot wait to return for another amazing meal!
Imagine our surprise at finding a gristly bit of chicken in our supposedly vegan aubergine dish!
Fabulous afternoon tea. Beautiful surroundings sat in the garden sun shining what more could I ask for on my special birthday
Very nice
lovely place, missing out on vegan diners with afternoon tea so would like to see that on offer before I go again
Very good
We went for afternoon tea very clean place.Food is so delicious. We actually went for afternoon tea. Staff is polite and freindly served by Mansoor who gave us a 5 star service. Definitely would recommend any time!
Absolutely wonderful food , friendly staff and ill definitely go again
Best Indian cuisine for miles, but be prepared to pay the price.
Terrible customer service. Delivered food at unspecified time when we weren t able to eat it. Called to discuss the issue and rudely told, nothing we can do, eat your meal I would strongly recommended not using.
I would give this restaurant a 0 star review if I could. Our table was constantly surrounded by the restaurants gardener and his leaf blower. The hygiene standards and cleanliness were appalling. Our glasses were covered in dirt and dust (and maybe some soot?) which would not come off even after wiping them multiple times with our napkins. We did not feel comfortable eating here given their low hygiene standards. We asked for a refund before any food had arrived (we had paid a deposit for the table), but were told that this was not possible. When we spoke to the owner about this he told us to let it go because the deposit was only £30. We absolutely will not be returning and I have charged back the deposit on my credit card.
Wow what a lovely place, the food is amazing the best I have had . The staff are very friendly and helpful. Best night out I have had in a long time . Its a must.
Excellent
Dont go, the negative reviews are true. Weve been scouting out the restaurants around Beaconsfield for a wedding party and popped into Spice Merchant around lunch time. The negative reviews almost put us off but we decided to just drop in and have tea and try the deserts and maybe a few starters. The waiter was aloof and uninterested. When he came back to tell us that 8 out of 10 dessert items were actually not available, the manager followed closely behind to rudely tell us that they will not serve us if we do not have a main meal. We left and will not return. Why the manager didnt want £20 of business that would likely follow onto much more is beyond me but its his loss for being a bellend.
Great meal
Lovely staff and the food was brilliant. Would definitely come again!
Awesome place to eat with friends...not very expensive like others
Fine Indian dining, not the cheapest; as the saying goes You get what you pay for. Superb service, superb cuisine.
Amazing food and 1st Class service, one of the best.
Amazing food with modern feel. Great friendly service. Slightly more expensive than your average Indian restaurant but well worth it.
Very impressed with the food only niggle was when It gets busy its a little hard to get the attention of a server but overall very good.
Delicious! Try the onion bhajis, but be warned, theyre huge!!
Ridiculously rude staff followed by ridiculously bad food, and even worse ridiculously overpriced goes without saying the only reason I put one star is because I can t put any less, trust me don t bother
We came here for the afternoon tea on a Sunday, a group of 9. Service was excellent and the food was better. A really nice variety of food in abundance, we all left with our bellies full.
Went for afternoon tea - Had a really good experience, very friendly staff, amazing food, very good portion size!! Would defo recommend!!
Service was odd! Food was ok. DJ saved the night!
We ordered a NYE curry for collect and prior to collecting we called twice to check for allergy information - we had a person with severe nut allergy. When the food arrived, it was all unlabelled and we were not able to different between any of the curries. We called the Spice Merchant and they attempted to identify the curries via FaceTime - this was unsuccessful. They suggested that our butt allergy person eats the Salmon Tikka (Someone else s main meal). They then asked if they could replace the whole order - it s wasn t until I requested just the Chicken Bhuna (nut allergy friendly) be sent, they asked if we could collect it. At no point was it suggested we could have a refund, we were not offered any compensation for the inconvenience, and were asked to collect the curry after their mistake. The biggest worry in this whole situation is the fact that the curry house NEVER label food, which was stipulated by the owner we spoke with - I m sure this is a violation of allergy and food standards? We would like a refund on our experience but we were denied that. Be careful with allergies at this curry house as it doesn t label its food at all and doesn t seem to care for the safety of food allergy sufferers!
We ordered the curry for NYE and although all the dishes where made according to our order, when we got the order back to the house nothing was labelled so we we unable to allocate the right curry to the right person. This was especially important as we had a person with a severe nut allergy and ordered a specific curry for her. This curry was also suggested by the curry house which we had a specific conversations about. When we called up they told us that they never label the foods, which doesn t make sense at all! When you have 10 curries that look slightly similar how can you tell?!! With everything that has happened in recent times with horrible allergy reactions, you should 100% label all foods, otherwise you may well put someone in serious harm. Also, there was no gesture of good and we had to push for the curry to be delivered, so that person with the Nut allergy had to eat 45mims after everyone else. Suggestion - label all foods from now on. And when your customers complain or have an issue, apologies first, and do your best rectify the issue simply and effectively. There are many very good restaurants to choose from.
Best Indian meal i have ever had without a shadow of a doubt
Beautiful bright restaurant and great service. Afternoon tea was perfect
Excellent food and service.
We decided to give the Spice Merchant a try for our take away Indian as we usually use Maliks in Gerrards Cross. All I can say is that we was very disappointed. We had to wait about half an hour for our food and then when we went to pay for it my mouth nearly hit the floor as it was so expensive, even though we was collecting. What made it worse though was we both thought it didnt taste that nice. Think Ill stick to Maliks from now on
Fabulous
Attentive staff and felt very safe. Good food and I want their garden!
Wounderful food and staff.
Lovely spacious restaurant a little over priced
Initial impressions were good in terms of ambience and setting....BUT...the food was poor quality, as was the service. They also got the bill wrong....TWICE. The first bill wasnt even ours, then on the second bill they tried to charge for a more expensive wine...TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE !! This establishment does NOT offer high end Indian cuisine. Try Maliks or Dishoom instead if you want authentic Indian food....You wont be disappointed with either one.
Very tasty food and good ambiance. Its just a shame that the service lacks warmth and friendliness. Go at lunchtime and youll really feel they dont want you there. Disappointing.
its pricey for what it is better to go to michelin star one in london is cheaper
Quite a few mistakes. Wrong food, billed for bottle rather glass of wine. Bit slow. Very noisy on conservatory. Tikka Masala was not nice. Like heinz tomato soup with vinegar. However the other dishes were excellent.
Enjoyed my visit here but disappointed that popadoms and chutney were charged for as extras along with a 12.5% service charged and the over priced wine. Food was good but not massive portions. Starter main course, coffee and a bottle of wine £102.
Awful experience this evening. Pre ordered a delivery for 5.30. Driver started calling us at 5.15 but we missed the calls as we were setting the table. We called back at 5.20 to be told he couldn t find us as we haven t got a house number ! He has now gone to his next delivery. The driver was rude. Spice merchant were rude. I then called back at 6.15, was left on the line for 7mins while they discussed our order, including the driver swearing and saying he couldn t find us. I put the phone down eventually as was sick of listening...horrendous service! What a awful way to treat loyal customers! Never again!
Absolutely stunning food but the service was even better. Ash made us feel so at home, was the perfect waiter. Friendly, funny and attentive. Nothing was too much, even gave us a free drink at the end! Fantastic night, would definitely come back
Has a lovely indian fusion afternoon tea. Staff are friendly and accommodating.
We went for Alternative Afternoon Tea for a birthday party group of around 40 people - adults and children. Superbly executed halal, vegetarian and gluten free Indian food. The decor has been recently refurbished. It is very nice both inside the restaurant and outside in the garden. The food was well presented, it was delicious and the service was prompt. It is a hidden gem in the lovely side of old Beaconsfield. We all travelled there from London and the Home Counties. We would all like to return again sometime.
We had invited guests for a meal here last night. When I bet pled I told the gentleman we would be there between 6.30 and 7. Our guests arrived there around 6.30 and were seated. They were then told by a member of staff they would need to leave by 8pm. How rude!!! We arrived too and started ordering starters ( which by the way are tiniest portions ever, even the platters). The lady began taking the orders for starters and said we had to order main at same time too and suggested we had both out together as it was so busy. The alcohol kept running out after each round. My husband and our guest ended up having whisky from 4 different bottles as their choices kept finishing. Overall a terrible experience. Staff are so rude and not interested just ignoring requests for lying periods. Definitely will never return here!!
In one word NICE
Worth the price tag! This is a lovely cosy restaurant serving contemporary dishes. The acoustics are not good when the back of the restaurant is full, but the place was buzzing with positive energy. Staff are attentive and the tandoori mixed grill was exceptional.
Lovely food. Fantastic staff. Went their for my sons 21st birthday
Great meal and a great service. Highly recommend
Great from start to finish
Amazing Indian cuisine.
Great food and great service!
Great food and generous portions, great place for a posh eat out :)
Just fabulous food, pricey but fabulous. Try the seafood Moilly its superb as are their Samosa and Massive Onion Bhaji
Great restaurant with an amazing garden, attentive staff and very high quality food. We had our wedding reception here and the service was outstanding, we have been back several times since
Very nice restaurant the service was very good Very welcoming food is very tasty i would go Again .and let mine family And friends Know
Great
I was surprised that rice was not a part of the buffet. Very good service though.
Nice authentic food. Make sure you check out the Hyderabadi chicken 65! It has a nice unique flavor with curry leaves in a thick paste... Truly mind blowing.
Above average prices but the food is excellent. Service good too. Not a cheap night out!
Nice garden to have diner. Nice atmosfeer. Main courses were good. Desserts were disappointing. Overall a bit to pricey for what you get. So thats why 3 stars
Lovely food with excellent service
Good but pricey
Great food and great service
Burnt food and overpriced for what it is tbh
Food was fantastic but everything else was terrible. Wouldnt go again. They tried to charge for food we didnt order. They tried to charge for drinks that never arrived. We had to ask about 5 times just to get some water on the table. The place was so hot that we were dripping in sweat and really not looking forward to eating a burning hot meal.
Great layout and gardens. Food is fine but very much catered for a western palate circa the early 70 s and 80 s.
The best. It will spoil you for Indian food anywhere else. Pricey but excellent food. Truly excellent.
We visited for Afternoon Tea which was excellent. The food was really nice and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely reccomend
Terrible service and the food was only ok. Because of this in my view it is overpriced for what it is. Don t mind paying for quality, but this is not it.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Beaconsfield
Great food and drinks Service is OK Very nice decor and surroundings. A bit pricey!
Unbelievable food, great service, cant wait to go back again
Very good as always. A shame that we can only go once a year due to distance.
Honestly one of the best authentic Indians around. Great atmosphere and service and I cant wait to go back
Good but expensive
Excellent food. Really enjoyed the meal here.
After querying an error on the bill, the waiter insulted me and my party by suggested we shouldnt eat there if we couldnt afford to! This was in full earshot of the other tables. Even when the manager was called to the table he kept returning to aggravate the situation.
Another brilliant place for Afternoon Tea everything from the tea selection which they had 10 to choose from all they way to mains and desserts. Will definitely try again and even going out for dinner too.
The food and staff here are excellent however the owner was shockingly rude. He aggressively demanded our table back after 1.5 hours because he had to seat some new diners. We were still eating and he effectively ordered us to leave! No attempt to apologise or give us some time to finish. A total lack of good manners and a pity he ruined what had been a very enjoyable lunch on Mothers day and we left upset and never to return. Update: I am pleased to report that the owners have subsequently been in touch to apologise. This is much appreciated and anyone can have an off day. Looking forward to dining there again.
The afternoon tea was amazing! Great service
After only being there for 5 minutes, the man asks for our order and also adds that they need the table so basically hurry up! He looked like he was in a major hurry. We were well aware of the 2 hour slot. Maybe you should let people know to decide what they want before coming into your restaurant! I felt this was very unprofessional and downright rude. This man looked like the manager and definitely not a waiter. Food was mediocre. Nothing else to add.
Awesome
Excellent. Have been planning on going here for a while. Finally dined this evening. Everything from interior, service and food was fantastic. We will definitely be back
Good food a little expensive but cool setting
Awful food, terrible service - no thank you
Amazing Indian food, I sat in the back garden with friends as it was a lovely evening, which has its own koi pond. Very relaxing, good for groups or couples.
Superb environment and cooking. Quite expensive.
Wonderful high end feeling decor. The starter was lovely but the mains left a little to be desired. Doesnt quite match up to other Indian places in the area despite its prices and feel.
Best Indian restaurant in Bucks - al fresco dining on a Summers day doesnt get much better
Extremely rude and aggressive staff including management and really poor service. If you want average good thats overpriced you at least expect good service. I spoke with 2 people claiming to be owners and yet in their response they deny all knowledge. Thanks for the apology!
Just beautiful,true Indian cuisine
Best Indian food available in Beaconsfield.
On our 51st Wedding Anniversary my wife and I had very pleasant experience of having an Indian afternoon tea
Cannot fault the food... It was excellent. A bit more expensive than your standard Indian meal but well worth the extra. Great location and surroundings as well...
Deliciously cooked Indian food. Good sized potions. Try the standard curries.
Fabulous
Decor very nice , service again very nice . Food very nice but in my opinion none of these warranted the bill (£200 for 3 people) Nothing special, sorry .
Alternative Indian restaurant , friendly staff and great menu..
Nice food, but pricey.
