Welcome to the Old Bengal Restaurant. Our aim is to always provide excellent authentic food, coupled with a personal friendly service & reasonable price.
We had the buffet on Sunday lunch, a big group of 10, there was plenty of food. Everything tasted wonderful. Service was immaculate.
As an Indian person eating out, the atmosphere was great, service was good, but food was just below par. Samosas tasted bland, seemed to be cooked from frozen and no Chutney was provided on the side. Chicken bhuna wasn't salted properly. Saag paneer also lacked flavour. Chicken jalfrezi was decent but had far too much raw onion and green pepper added to bulk it out. We came away disappointed.
Avoid at all costs. We ordered a takeaway to celebrate our daughters birthday, having eaten in the restaurant many times over the years. Sadly the food was very poor and was floating in grease. Having eaten several items that were edible, the rest was thrown in a plastic bag. Having then called the restaurant to speak with the manager and let him know (very politely) that the three dishes main dishes were very poor and were not eaten, the manager sadly didn't nave the courtesy to say sorry or show any form of customer care. I suggested that they collect the food that was not eaten and very respectfully suggested that the manager do whatever he thinks is the best thing to do to remedy this. They sent a driver to collect the discarded food (which was still in it packaging) and tied up in two plastic bags. Unbelievably the manager called me and was rude, sarcastic and immature. He began to call me a liar by claiming that we had eaten some of the returned food. He then reluctantly said he would refund some of the money, however based on his appaulling, immature and aggressive attitude, I refused any money back from him. It is clear this guy has a complex issue and doesn't like criticism and his approach to any such criticism is to gaslight his customers by saying we are lying or are trying to grab a freebie. Check their historic reviews which are similar. All I wanted was a simple apology. Such a shame given the money we have spent in this place over the years but glad to have seen the real attitude of this business / manager before we spent any more money in there.
Thanks to all the staff of The Old Bengal for making my friend’s birthday so fantastic! Great food, great vibes and great service. Couldn’t have asked for a better celebratory meal out. Thanks again!
Great little find for a Sunday buffet deal. All the food was good quality and delicious. The selection available was enough to choose from to satisfy any appetite. The buffet had just the right amount in so you knew that it not been sitting around for long. Service was great. Great value. Would highly recommend.
Nice food we had the buffet on Sunday and a very good price
Used to go here for Christmas Dinner years ago so popped in on a wet Thursday night to see what its like now. I wasn't disappointed, the food was beautifully cooked and full off flavour. Nice friendly service just how It used to be
Visited this evening for the first time with friends. The restaurant itself presented as clean, welcoming and popular with the locals. Along with the usual bollywood music playing in the background this was on a low volume so the atmosphere was relaxed. However for us unfortunately the food did disappoint. We opted for the sheekh kebab which was on the salty side and the chilli paneer which as described was spicy but should be renamed to extra hot chilli paneer 🔥🔥 I'm guessing the rest of the menu might be worth trying if I go by the reviews I have read so won't cross off my list just yet.
Del, the server, was very welcoming & friendly. Swift service and great food Food
Good old fashioned Indian. Service polite and efficient. Dishes served appetizing and generous portions!
Outstanding restaurant. Delicious food. What stood out most was the service. Utterly brilliant.
Visited from out of town and got a Top end curry. Lovely place. Great service and the food was delicious and Hot! Friendly and welcoming
Absolutely delicious, excellent service.
Really feels like an authentic Indian restaurant with the decor, comfy and cosy Food was delicious and the service was really good Food
Freshly prepared, delicious Indian food delivered into my kitchen for a party! The food was, as always, great!
Enjoyed the Sunday lunch £20 per head buffet. The restaurant was full with families, groups and couples with a number of children also dining. The selection of food available included several chicken and lamb dishes as well as a vegetable selection. Plain naan bread, pilau rice and onion bhajis are also available in the buffet however the poppadoms are classed as extra, as are all drinks. The food has lots of flavour with a bit of heat to it if you like it spicy. A selection of fresh fruit is available for dessert.
We gave this restaurant a group order last week and when the food arrived many of the items were missing. When we phoned the restaurant did not want to know and tried to fob us off. The food wasn t that good anyway. Beware of this restaurant not nice people.
Parking: Parking right outside. Kid-friendliness: The owner is very friendly to my three year old and has built quite the rapport with him over the last two years. Very welcoming and friendly all round. Wheelchair accessibility: This is wheelchair accessible and friendly to those who can walk in a limited capacity. Note th toilets are upstairs
I frequently get deliveries from the Old Bengal for years. It is always consistently very tasty and always very good quality. The staff are all very friendly.
I have had some really nice meals here over the years - lovely people and good food too
Brilliant restaurant with amazing food, either eating in or takeaway food always 5 star. See you soon.
Delicious food
Great food and always friendly staff. Sunday Buffet very good choice
This restaurant comes highly recommended. Excellent food and service at a reasonable price.
Very bland food
Seemed kinda pricey on each choice. But when it turned up the bowls were pretty big. So dont over order. Lovely flavours. Really nice attentive service. Really nice place to eat. Well done The Old Bengal Food : 5/5
Super friendly and very welcoming.
Lovely people, friendly service and food. Sensible prices for the area too.
Always great
A lovely Indian restaurant with great décor attentive staff and great food. Definitely recommend
Went here this evening to grab some take away. What was really apparent was the waiters seemed to know a lot of the customers by name which is usually a good sign. All the staff were incredibly friendly and the food was some of the best take away I ve had for a long time. I went for lamb chilli Masala with pilau and garlic Naan. The guys even gave me a free beer. Will definitely be back soon
First Indian restaurant Ive been to in a good few years, food was just OK, hardly any sea bass in the curry, welcome from staff on arrival was miserable, and on departure non existent despite a large party and spending £50+ per head; wont be going here again!
Had food with friends.very enjoyable
so scrumptious Vegetarian options: nice x
amazing food very cheap price and outstanding service.
Not your average curry, very tasty and good service
Used to love it here but after the weekend, the food quality has gone downhill sadly and very pricey now. Still great staff thou Food
Nice place, friendly staff, good food.
We have been getting take aways from here for absolutely years and always have had the most incredible food.. last night week got our regular takeaway from them, when we arrived home we realised half the order was missing, all of our 4 sides were missing and our naan breads! We then found RAW CHICKEN and incredibly bad quality chicken in all of the curry s! I rang the restaurant to inform them and they were so incredibly rude and not willing to resolve or apologies on the phone, telling me that I was a liar! I feel so saddened to have to write this review but quite frankly if they are not willing to be apologetic then unfortunately this review had to be posted.
Really poor service Ordered online. When the food arrived one of the main courses was missing. We called only to be told we did not order it, besides having the online receipt confirming we did and being charged for it. We were then offered to send out the missing dish in 20-30 minutes .this did make me laugh at least. Eventually they said they would send a refund for the missing dish, No apologies for the obviously ruined evening meal etc. Everyone makes mistakes, no issue with that but say sorry and compensate people though when you do.
Great food. A bit expensive but worth tasting them.
Arrived early Friday evening and fairly quiet, but busy by mid evening. Friendly staff, good food and service. Will be going back.
Food was ok. Expected better. There was a private event of 50 people we weren t informed off so was extremely noisy.
Booked a table for a group and as soon as we got there the staff was rude to us and we were overcharged for the amount of drinks (that we didnt have) and 1 dish. We had to argue to get the drinks and the extra dish out of the bill and the staff didnt want to admit that they did a mistake and acused us of having to much to drink where half of us actually didnt even had any alcohol. They were rude and we could see that we were overcharged on purpose as when we confronted the staff to the amount of drinks they said if we wouldnt order so many then we would know how much we had. We were also had a 2 starters charged as main (which is actually more expensive) and were told that this is normal and that they didnt have to tell us what they were charging, this despite being more expensive. Do not waste your money on this place
Went with my partner. Rude over priced. Served me raw potatoes then try to overcharge me along with waiter rushing and pouring our drinks....avoid this place like the plague. Dead atmosphere feels like ur in a funeral place...smelt like urine and pheases
Been ordering from them for years first time eating in good food nice and cosy well worth a visit
Excellent
Went for the buffet lunch this afternoon. Food is normally really tasty! Unfortunately, today the food was awful? Raised my concerns with a waiter as the Korma / Chick Tikka and rice were stone cold! - his response was a swift shrug of the shoulders .. he then proceeded to light the heaters under the serving trays and walked off? No apology or any attempt to resolve my concerns - bitterly disappointed! not only with the qualty of the food but with the way in which my issue was dealt with. Will probably steer clear of the old bengal in the future which is a real shame. Poor food, poor customer service!
havent been here for 10 years and I now know the reason why was aiming to go giggling squid, the thai in crazy bear both were busy then tried the Chinese that was shut so ended up here . their meat dishes are fine the issue with these types of Bangladeshi type Indians they havent a clue on how to make proper vegetarian dishes and this restaurant hasnt a clue . so meat side is fine but vegetables a no no may try it in another 10 years but i doubt it
The food was okay. After our meal we gave a cash tip to the staff and the manager came over to the table and snatched the tip away from us. I would expect my tip to go to the staff. Completely disrespectful!! Wouldn t go back!!
Great food, beautiful decor and amazing area ... loved it & will def go again
Nice atmosphere and curry
Spicey!
Absolutely phenomenal the food the waiter who served me had given me a cold soup and I informed him of this and he was very sorry and to compensate for it he donated his left kidney to me and a litre of his blood. The food however was exquisite the chicken korma was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth my friend with me at the time who was dining with me also ordered the chicken korma and he had a seizure when it entered his mouth that was how good it was . The poppadoms where fantabulous they where the right amount of crispy and not at all burnt paired with the mango chutney they made for a formidable duo this time sending my friend into yet another seizure . I got 4 naans the cheesy one was good the keema one was also good however the plain and garlic naans where so good that my friend got up and kissed the waiter directly on the lips. The naans where so good fluffy like a cloud and tasted like a michelin star dish. And now back onto the waiters they where the politest bunch of chaps I had ever met and seemed absolutely willing to serve us food without asking any questions. I had the diet coke from there and when I tell you it was the best Diet Coke I ever had I am not even joking. It had the perfect amount of ice a lovely straw to drink it with and the lemon added so many flavours and took this drink to new levels send my friend into a state of no return. However my friend did return to eat pilaa rice and it was as the Spanish say muy rico the rice was so soft and fluffy then I had the best idea known to mankind I mixed the korma with the rice and it was absolutely astonishing sending my friend into yes you guessed it another seizure this time taking him up the stairs and to the door of the bathroom. After we had finished we were given hot towels to clean our hands and they where the softest things I had ever laid hands on. My friend had just come down and saw me having a seizure he took a towel and also had a seizure we seizured for 5 minutes straight without stopping, by the time we pulled our selves together we had bruises all over us but it was worth. When we received our bill we where given the most indulgent chocolates ever and sent us into another 5 minute seizure. Altogether would not recommend,McDonalds is a lot cheaper not better but cheaper so just go there. Just joking would recommend but beware as you are most likely to spaz out.
Lovely food and service
Really nice and fabulous parking. Thank you.
Fave Indian in Beaconsfield, the head chef is amazing and the service is great. Definitely give it a go
Always been excellent food and services,, eating in or take away, always warm friendly welcome with great food
Went to order and collect take out fancied easy, tasty meal...not a chance. Despite being way beyond capacity for delivery or take outs, the staff carried on taking orders whilst fielding complaints by phone or in person as nobody was happy. This appalling greed displayed a sheer disrespect for customers....oh and the food was tasteless and smothered in tomato sauce, kitchen obviously doesnt care either!
Recently visited the Old Bengal for the first time. I tried to book for a birthday- the booking initially was pretty difficult to arrange; so much background noise, lack of understanding ... but we got there eventually. I wanted to drop a birthday cake off before the arranged booking and do a little deco. I was told to drop between a time- I called them as i was worried I maybe a bit late due to heavy traffic on m40, thats when they informed me that nobody is there and they are closed and all of this, I explained that I already had arranged ect ect. Anyway the food was great and service couldve been better. Then, I wanted to pack my cake back as there was so much left still... the staff had GOT MY CAKE BOX OUT OF THE BIN AND HANDED IT OVER TO ME TO PUT MY CAKE BACK IN THE ORIGINAL BOX !!! Lucky for a child spotting this and informing me intime before I put the cake back in the OUT OF BIN box !! Fair play for them coming forward and actually admitting to this but I just think that was completely unacceptable ! Yeah, worth a go just watch they dont pull anything out of the bin and hand it to you :)
We have always loved this place and have recommended it to so many friends and family who are now regular customers; but after today, our opinion has definitely changed. We came back from holiday this morning and the first thing we did was book a table for this evening and we were really looking forward to it... The first issue was the volume of the music. There had always been a calm feeling in the restaurant in the years prior, but this seems to have gone. We also noticed a huge increase to the prices (but I know this is commonplace now) The main thing which was disappointing was the service we received. Nobody seemed to really know what was going on; staff were wandering around aimlessly and there was one particular man who was rushing us constantly. He took our order so abruptly and we felt so rushed the entire time. Even the lady on the table next to us commented on how bossy he was when he took her tables order. When we made payment, his hand was literally hovering over the card machine as my partner entered his pin and then said Cash tip is better. We were not impressed with the experience tonight at all.
Staff always impeccably polite, and the tikka masala is delicious!
Food was tasty enough, though doesnt stand out from other currys Ive had. Bit expensive but thats the area rather than the restaurant. Theyre good in handling dietary restrictions like vege or gluten free.
Really good old school curry house with great food and service, probably in top3 around the area.
Great food and lovely owner. The best curry in Beaconsfield!
Staff are rude and obnoxious. Unfriendly, unprofessional service. Way over priced for standard food.
Staff are very rude and food is unjustifiably overpriced.
Fantastic evening, great food and company.
We ve ordered from here a couple of times. The first was actually quite nice, but food quality went down after each visit.
Excellent lovely food our new choice of takeout food
Outstanding. Best curry around.
First meal out after lockdown and it was amazing. True authentic indian food and great service. Will now be my regular curry house ! Highly recommend
I normaly do not like curry but......with great food and great service, you cant go wrong!! Well done! Ill definitely be back.
Consistent high quality food and service, best Indian food for miles around
Food was fantastic, service was good. Never had a bad meal here.
I was passing by with my family, thought about having indian meal, I popped into old bengal, the food and service was EXCELLENT, the best Indian Curry and Beriany I ever had. I highly recommend OLD BENGAL you wont regret. The Best Service and Food under one Roof.
Wow. This place is excellent. Banging food, generous portions. We will 100% be coming back.
I ordered from this restaurant via Uber eats and was given a delivery time between 835 and 8.55. It didnt arrive until 9.30pm the driver was very rude and aggressive blaming me for ordering during a busy time lol. Pretty sure thats his job to deliver the food. ( bearing in mind this driver works for the restaurant) Food was okay but needed reheating due to it being late. The number I was left to call answered 1st time I called but ignore the 2 times I called him afterwards. Never again. Do not recommend ordering from here. Restaurant may be different.
What can I say lovely atmosphere lovely food and great service
Great food with friendly and efficient service
Fantastic food, reasonably priced and great service. We will definitely be going back.
Always welcoming and popular with generous quality. Every dish is freshly prepared by chefs who err on the authentic spicy side. Try the Old Bengal specials for a treat. Recommended, from a regular.
Food was very average for the prices. Service was not the best although the staff tried to look after us it just did not justify the quality of food was just a standard curry nothing special. The king prawn biryani was very salty, which they did change for us but the dhansak dishes were just curries with a bit of lentil sauce not sweet sour and hot like its meant to be. Overall it gets only 2 stars but due to the waiters trying their best they get a 3.
Very disappointed with their offerings for dairy free customers. Most restaurants are happy to make a few changes or offer some options but all I could eat at this restaurant was plain boiled rice and a vegetable curry. Not what I was hoping for, for a special meal out with my husband.
I felt the service was very good but the price didnt reflect on the food. It was average not a justified £16 for butter chicken. Lovely place and friendly staff but £££
Absolutely stunning food and fair prices drinks expensive though. Staff are friendly and helpful will definitely visit again
Good food, nice atmosphere
Good food and service. We were a little cramped on our table and the cost was a bit more than our usual go to place which to be fair is in a completely different county.
Great meal. First time there after Covid. Prices have taken an uptick. But portions were decent. Quality very good.
Great service, nice decor and friendly staff, especially Kam
Amazing food and the staff are brilliant
Great food and atmosphere!!!!
Best taikeaway ever! Great food; piping hot; speedy delivery; lovely staff and a wonderful chef who makes me a delicious special Vindaloo. Good value, too. Anwar & Monir - you are the best.
Best indian Ive had so far Ive just moved to wooburn green and decided to order from here and everytime the delivery has been quick and the food has been amazing full of delicious flavors portion sizes are good and great value for your money highly reccomend and will look forward to dining in. yummy thankyou
Had an early evening meal so restaurant was empty when we arrived. Food & service was excellent, probably one of the best meals I have had there..
Great food and service would highly recommend
I went recently as they were participating in the Eat Out to Help Out offer. Whilst the service was a little slow however admittedly, the restaurant was very busy. The food was exceptional and made up for the wait. Ill be back soon!
Absolutely brilliant fantastic food excellent service bar none. Generosity high standards and just dam right good. Going back again for sure
Food and service was great.
Went here one weekday evening. Looks small from the outside but actually quite big. Food was ok. I had the lamb Rogan Josh with garlic nan. I wouldnt go out of my way to go here again. If its your first time its worth giving it a try.
Really good restaurant, happily catered for a large group and the food was excellent. Definitely coming back here!
Fantastic food. Great service. Best for miles around.
Amazing food! My favourite restaurant ever.
Nether been there so why has this popped up!
The food was amazing x
Actually the best Indian restaurant around, very friendly staff and food is great, not just a gora pleaser
Loved the service and the food!
Food Seemed Ok, Until It Hit My Stomach, Only Just Recovered From A Meal There On Tuesday... 5 Days of being ill... Thanks, Bit No Thanks.
Food was top notch, friendly staff, couldnt fault it....
This is another nice Indian restaurant in Beaconsfield, a little less formal and more relaxed than some of the others but the quality is still extremely high, nice tasty food, good amount of spice and great customer service. I would certainly go back if I was in the area.
Great food and hospitality.
Great food and sevice
Food is very delicious and the service is outstanding. Would 100% recommend to eat their food if u like indian dishes.
Very poor customer service we will not recommend or use again
The food here is always very good. Anwars and his staff are attentive and friendly.
Great staff, surroundings and the best curry in Beaconsfield
Good food nice staff good service
Old Bengal Food 7 Service 5 Price 5 Decor 6
Great food will go back again
Very good food and service would highly recommend
Verry good restaurant Old Bengal !!
We used to use this restaurant quite regularly, but when we went this time, we found it was noisey and the food was not that brilliant either. I dont think we will be going there again.
Food was good but expected more the good reviews.
Fantastic food even better service
Lovely food
Lovely food , great customer service
Really nice play! The food was so good and excelent attention! Very nice chicken curry! Delicious!!!! We will repeat :)
Not a bad place for an Indian food in town.
Very good Indian restaurant. Food was freshly cooked. Waiter was attentive. Will be back.
The food was okay. The bill had lots of items we did not order or eat. When we tried to talk to them and asked them to run through the bill they couldn t explain how 8 people had eaten 13 mains. Arguing went on for ages. Clearly a mistake which we felt they were trying to rip us on. Plus they were over charging on the drinks. Won t ever return here.
Ok, but chaotic and slow service
Online booking systems fails and we had to change restaurant.
Best curry in. Buckinghamshire
Great service tasty food
Excellent excellent food. Light and fresh. Far better than most Indian fayre. Nice service too. Well done people!
Back to what it was. Good Indian
What a shambles!! Attended a pre booked and fully paid up event to find ourselves shoved onto a tiny table in a corner where nobody could get out in an emergency. Table wasnt made up and we were completely ignored. Where others were getting served we were left to rot. On complaining they offered the same tiny table to be put out by the bar so we would miss the entertainment we had paid for. We were there an hour and nobody took an order for drinks or food and the organiser kept trying to fob us off. Take my advice dont bother attending special events at this place. We asked for a refund and left having booked this about 6 weeks ago. Very disappointed. If we had been a group of burly men they wouldnt have done that!!
Nice friendly atmosphere good food and drinks
Great food, great service and a decent atmosphere.
Bit overprized
Lovely staff
Very good service, tasty food (although quite sweet for our taste, I guess it would be better if we had said we like our dishes spicier).Overall a good restaurant.
Great food and service in a calm, comfortable atmosphere.
Best restaurant in beaconsfield
Lovely food
Excellent food and service. Will be going there again.
Always great food and excellent service. This is a firm favourite of ours
Great food. Staff & SERVICE
Amazing food and service. Very friendly. Always come here. Definitely somewhere to visit if you havent yet
I have been to hundreds of Indian restaurants and must say this is my favourite in the area :) Lamb chettinand is a must!
One word FABULOUS.
Rude staff really bad service. Food was good, but still1 star
Great Indian food with good service
BEST INDIAN IN BUCKINGHAM SHIRE.
A cut above most Indian Restaurants, consistently good food, aromatic spices, good portions, friendly service. Been several times and never been disappointed. Chicken kamasutra is my favourite if you are OK with medium/hot food.
Simply Sublime! We stumbled upon this restaurant to welcome home our good friend Mr Matthews after his year long trip around the world and my goodness have we found a winner! I usually have my curry nights in Gerrards Cross... not any more! The service was superb, the atmosphere outstanding and the food was to die for, unfortunately one of our party nearly did, silly bugger went for a hot curry didnt he! Im sure hes paying for that this morning! Anyway I digress, if your looking for a little gem of a place then this is the one for you, great food at a respectable price (apart from the Voss) to put it simply, absolutely fabulous
KEEP AWAY!!! Worst restaurant in Beaconsfield!!! The Manager is very unpleasant and doesnt know how to treat Customers!! Whom by the way are ALWAYS right!! So the restaurant uses a third party company VIP Dining to promote their restaurant - in return provides terrible customer service. They didnt honour my BOGOF card even when I wanted to spend over £20 as per the terms and conditions. I had to spend net of £20!! What the??? They let me walk out with no take away meal. Oh well, I guess thats why their restaurant was empty.
