1A Windsor Road, Beaconsfield HP9 2SE, United Kingdom
The pub is open for breakfast until 12 noon and offers free refills (all day every day) on tea and Lavazza coffee. For lunch and dinner, there are lighter bites, with deli deal options and vegetarian choices, gourmet burgers and freshly made pizzas. Wetherspoon has championed a wide range of drinks, including real ales, craft beers, gins and soft drinks. Table service is available via the Wetherspoon app, using our unlimited free Wi-Fi. This pub has step-free access.
A wide range of good value beers and food. Plenty of seating with an additional level upstairs. All areas are clean and it's child friendly. The staff are courteous and attentive. The toilets are up stairs but there are ground level facilities in the main concourse area next door. Dogs, except service dogs, are not permitted.
Ordered a Mango Monster Mash cocktail and a Coke for my friend through the app. After waiting 30 minutes, they brought a Monster Juice and a Pepsi instead. When we raised the issue, the manager (or supervisor) named Jammy was extremely rude and unhelpful . Totally understand it’s Wetherspoon, but basic courtesy and proper service shouldn't be too much to ask!
Jolly and helpful staff. Clean place with nice outside for good days. Had Allday Brunch good value £11. Looks good, had all nice elements but lukewarm spoilt the experience. Previously cooked bacon was dry and tepid. Sausages & eggs were good. Beans had to ask to be heated up. Chips cooked freshly so crispy and hot; they were only part that was above room temp. If whole lot had come on a hot plate and all elements were hot I would have enjoyed more and given higher rating. Because of that id say it was adequate.
Traditional breakfast with extra 2 x black pudding was excellent and £16 including 2 refill coffees is amazing value. The atmosphere can be interesting let’s put it at that 😉 the staff are fantastic!
The Hope and Champion at Beaconsfield service stop offers a great dining experience. The pub's air conditioning provides a comfortable atmosphere. We started with halloumi fries, which were delicious. For mains, my wife had fish and chips, and I had the chicken basket. Both dishes were excellent. The service was nice and relaxed, making our visit very enjoyable. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a good meal and a pleasant break.
I would say avoid this establishment like the plague…. But we literally had the plague a few years ago and no one avoided that…. (Covid) Moderately busy by Wetherspoons standard, empty compared to your city centre spoons on a Friday night. We have been waiting 50 minutes for a pizza and nuggets, when it finally arrived the pizza was like a large poppadom with tinned tomatoes and a bit of cheese on top. Utterly disgraceful for the inflated service station prices they charge! Do not dine here, go to McDonald’s or the weird Mexican place, even purchasing a sandwich from WHSmiths would have been a better experience.
Lovely Wetherspoons set within beaconsfield services. Usual menu and friendly staff. Out the back there’s a nice beer garden area overlooking a lake. Order using the app to get food delivered to your table. Coffee/tea is refillable. Good children’s menu. Only downside are the prices, expect to pay 25% more than a typical town centre Wetherspoons, hence only 4-star review.
A very cosy place to get a bite and drink. Enough seating area inside and plenty of space outside. It is better when the weather is good and a little hotter. There is a lake with ducks and playing area for kids to keep busy. A nice pathway for a short walk. You can easily relax for half an hour before going forward with your journey.
I had lovely meal at the hope and champion. The service was brilliant we ordered out meals and 10 mins later the meal was ready to eat. Very quick service brilliant Parking: It a service station so easy to park
Ramen noodle bowl the best way for getting anything resembling veg!!and its very good its really the only thing o go in spoons for
Chaotic but organised breakfast was very good
Person at the till absolutely rude and trying to look cool with that attitude. I thick bit of racist.
So I ordered breakfast via the app, waiting time for breakfast to arrive was 20 minutes. Ordered the large breakfast, it was missing the two eggs. I told the waitress as she was passing - she didn t apologise but went off to fetch the eggs, she then tossed the plate with the eggs on and again didn t apologise. The eggs were cold and not runny. Every item on the plate arrived cold. The bacon consisted of two shrivelled up rashers, there was one tiny mushroom, the beans came in a tiny dish. The toast was barely brown and cold, the hash browns were okay but cold and the sausages were fairly tasty BUT you guessed it, they were cold. Easily the worse breakfast I ve ever had. I know it s just the Wetherspoons but that s not the point. It wasn t even that busy either but even then I d expect a breakfast that had warm components to it. Awful, terrible, shocking. I wish if of taken a photo now. For £9.35 with a drink it s shocking.
Good breakfast at average prices. The staff is friendly and helpful. Ambiance is way better than the typical fast food chains.
Just what we needed ...a nice light breakfast and hot drink with free refills...very reasonable prices and quick friendly service.
A possibly racist manager who didnt ask any of the white costumers for ID, but did ask the 26 year old brown man and woman. To makes matters worse, he only did it after selling the beer, when already sat at a table, and then proceeded to remove the beer
If you can see past the irony of having a Wetherspoon in a motorway services, then it is a really solid spoons, one of the best Ive been to for a little while, even. Plenty of seating, clean facilities, often quiet, and quick service. There are some lovely booth seats upstairs that give a commanding view of the services below.
I am extremely satisfied with my visit today at The hope and champion weatherspoons. The food was absolutely outstanding, everything was delicious and cooked to perfection, and not only was the food amazing, the table service and staff were so lovely and extremely helpful. I cant wait for my next visit, thank you!
Great Food and location. Very handy for stop off on route to Heathrow for break and food.
Came as usual to have a burger but ordered two cheese burgers which it shouldn t be served in the worst restaurant on earth! The burgers came out completely burnt with nothing else apart for the buns. A complete offence for what you pay for. The manager wants to offer me a bowl of chips afterwards as a form of compensation which it gets even worst! Very unfortunate because the place is great, just needs changing management e certainly the Chef ! Not coming back!!!
An oasis of calm away from marauding groups of school kids at this busy motorway services. Standard weatherspoon fayre served quickly by friendly staff. not quite high street prices but still sensible. A 10inch wrap, chips and a soft drink for £5.99. Clean tidy spoons
A unique service station experience. A unique wetherspoons experience. A unique experience. Food : 5/5
Excellent food and service. Thanks to all the staff.
Stayed in Ibis Hotel next door so didnt have far to go for a drink and breakfast
A spoons in roadside services? Well, I suppose not everyone going through is driving. Nice and open pub with a smaller area upstairs overlooking the water - a wall of glass providing heaps of natural light. The staff, as usual, were excellent: very cheerful. The fish and chips was wonderful with the fish cooked in an almost tempura batter. The Guinness was excellent.
Thanks to Mark who was very friendly and gave us excellent service.
Got to be the worst pint of Abbott around 3 visits always been poor.....wine tasting off taste even took a novice beer drinker with me and without being asked,he asked me is there something wrong with this pint. Dont have to worry about me returning... but there again dont suppose they would be really bothered.service station... always have another punter. Upside food is always fine Perhaps cask marque should pay a visit.
I dont have high expectations of spoons but this was really bad. The food looked like it had been revived from 1982. The floor was filthy. Just a mistake in all. Should have gone to literally any other outlet.
Staff members were really lovely. Food was great too
Breakfast in Wetherspoons always great and affordable
Wetherspoon at a services what is not to like.
Lo
Quick stop for food on our way home from Heathrow airport.
Brilliant pub, great service and staff..lots of room to eat and drink
Nice grub, great service, All staff were friendly with Very Good Customer service
It is what it is - a Wetherspoons at a motorway service area! But for us we needed to fill up before heading towards Wembley and I as the driver needed a break. The food was brought out quickly.. and we were soon on our way. (Food cheaper than at Wembley too!)
The wetherspoons at a service station. Lovely staff. Restricted menu. Small toilets upstairs.
A motorway gem especially if youre in the Ibis lodge. Staff couldnt do enough for a weary traveller especially Ellie
Stopped by before our flight not the cleanest of places the food is typical weather spoon ut the staff were lovely
Helpful staff. Fish and chips was good and excellent value. Very pleasant sitting outside at the back.
Considerably more expensive than a regular Wetherspoon, plus the portion size is smaller. The food was overcooked and the chips tasted of rancid oil thats well overdue being changed. Also the toilets are inadequate.
The usual Wetherspoons experience - reasonably priced food and drinks and efficient if impersonal service. The pub is in its own self contained unit which is nicely fitted out and its much more preferable eating in here rather than having to sit in the noisy food court. On my last visit the breakfast sandwich I had here was fine, and the unlimited hot drinks are a pretty good deal. Ive never tried the beer here but theres usually a couple of local ales on. Good place to stop for a meal. Vegetarian options: A lot of veggie options available Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu and activity book with crayons available
Dont bother dining here. We tried at the pizza express, who said they had a 40 min wait for food, so we opted for wetherpsoons instead, assuming it would be faster. Wish we had stuck to pizza express now as weve waited nearly an hour for the worlds most over cooked and equally undercooked pizza??? And a sad looking wrap. Appalling. Even for service station standards. The Indian or Mexican are far better in both quality and service. I wild have sent the pizza back had I not been starving hungry and in a rush to continue my now delayed journey.
Had to wait over an hour for food. Originally told 45 minutes. After waiting more than an hour both my own and my partner s chips were cold. Clearly left out for a while, on top of that, the wrong cheese was added to my burger. One issue after another and no real apology until I chased up the wait time more than once. Terrible service and was definitely not worth the wait.
Very busy due to the racing
1 hour wait and then food came out still Frozen, couldnt believe it. Never again
Manager said we weren t ordering anything anything and aggressively tried to make us leave. We d spent about £30 on lunch, drinks and snacks, and were still drinking our drinks. Have seen other bad reviews about a manager if you work here I m sure you can guess who they are Other staff really nice
Stopped off for a drink to break up journey.
Good breakfast, great coffee. Busy but didnt have to wait long for food.
Light & airy.Nice to have a bit of daylight in the place. We had breakfast there at about 10.30am.Not that many people inside as it was a Beautiful morning.Sunny. People were out on the patio at the back.
The manageress is certainly on something strong this morning, shes super hyper, rough sounding shouty loud, twitchy and kicked us out because we havent food. We wont be back until shes calmed down. Food
Parking: Parking free up to 3 hours Kid-friendliness: Kids park playground Food : 4/5 |
Small and bland breakfast. Only bacon was tasty. Coffee awful. To top that I had egg shell on crunch on as a bonus.when wanted to complain there was no one about. See photos attached Food : 1/5
Good food
We had to wait ages for someone to man the bar and service us. It took the cleaner to go find someone and then the prices! Not a normal weatherspoons. Such a rip off.
The worst waiter ruined my morning with his terrible attitude! He clearly has no idea how to do his job. Why on earth did you hire him in the first place?
Curry was excellent as was the chicken pasta. Reasonable prices for a service area. Clean facilities too. Well done all. Food : 5/5 |
We stop here for breakfast as a family pretty regularly after an overnight drive from Scotland, and we always like the look of Leon...sadly our option has always only been McDonalds or Greggs...we finally saw Leon looking open 06:10 to be told no, we dont open till 7. Staff obviously dont want to be working this early, well Im sorry but thats the job youre in.
Dietary restrictions: Staff were not very knowledgeable/helpful about dietary options. Food
Absolutely awful venue. The bar manager is an absolute idiot.
Normally a good enough place for a quick bite to eat, but the last time we went there it was under par. The burgers we had were both way over cooked, the buns were solid, the chips were sparce. There were no pizzas either. The staff were good, but there were too few of them meaning there was a long wait for some at the bar.
Upstairs seating always closed! they don t want to clean it so packed out down stairs
Its a Spoons, what are you expecting, The Ritz !
Room for improvement Breakfast muffin came warm and delicious however the breakfast I ordered for the person I was with came stone cold. This is not what you expect of a breakfast with beans sausage bacon and egg. These items are typically supposed to be served hot as advertised. Didnt feel worth the price but will give another chance in the future.
Had a large breakfast but it was cold. Have had warmer meals from a takeout. Obviously got seved food that had been standing for a while and not kept to temperature.
Very slow service. Took 35 minutes for food on a very quiet Saturday afternoon. Some parts of the meal were very cold. Timings need improving.
The food was borderline warm, you might need to ask them to zap it. The coffee machines was down to only one. Also it was barely hot enough.
We were here for dinner and it was inadequate, even McDonalds is better, fries is really bad, steak was stiff. Really bad pub, they cannot pour a beer, just don t go there, they should close this pub it s disgusting.
Just had a beer, great price considering the location, close to Heathrow etc.
A popular venue but lacking in atmosphere, some soft background music would have been better. Nobody at the bar when we arrived and had to wait a few minutes for someone to appear. We ordered through the website which worked well. Food was good and arrived in a reasonable time.
I live locally and have popped into the H & C many times. I popped in last Saturday for a gourmet steak. Unfortunately said steak though cooked properly was of poor quality, gristly and fatty. Baked potato was absolutely dry and the tomato and peas were mediocre to average. Onion rings were perfect. Will pop back in a few months to see if quality has returned to its old, high, standard.
After all the negative reviews, we had a great meal this evening. Very quick service of dr8nks and food, well done we will be back !! Vegetarian options: Great vegetable Curry.
Toilet was not 500 miles away Chips were raw but I was too embarrassed to say anything A group of drunk people provided ample entertainment Also the hot drink machine kept cleaning itself every few minutes and it was wonderful to watch
Staff are just there and the food was stone cold, when i complained the responce was well this is a pub on a motor way sir, Ill never waste my money on this one again, as a weather Spoons fan i feel really let down at this place, there is so much other food options available at the same service, just dont bother
Butter ration. Only allowed one butterpat peer slice of toast. The waiter cleaned a table using a broom, the table was not quoted down after Food
Better service than expected.
Quick service, clean throughout, good service. Friendly staff who are happy to help. Can get a bit busy from time to time but you cab expect that as it is in a major service. Food : 5/5
Food was really nice, the cleanest glasses in a Wetherspoons you will ever see for a bottle Moretti. The staff are so friendly. One of the best spoons Ive ever been in! Highly recommend!
Didnt even order food, the app wouldnt work due to this location not serving drinks with meals. Prices are higher than all other locations without drinks.
A great alternative not found in service stations and good value.
Had a relaxing breakfast with great service wheelchair friendly
Mixed Grill was nice, and my partner had chicken which she said was very nice
Had to park up at the services on a Friday ( ran out of driving time to get home) Popped in and grabbed some simple and delicious food. Very busy with helpful staff on FOH. Keep up the good work. Parking: 3 hours free while on site.
Lovely breakfast set us up for the days travel
Spoons at Beaconsfield M40 Services. Rather plush surroundings and one of the nicest interiors Ive experienced in a Spoons. Service was mixed. Some of the staff were great and happy to assist, some (who I think were part of the management team) seemed to be going through the motions. Stopped for some food and drinks on the way home. Chicken tenders were nice. Loaded chips were bland, greasy and a bit of a let down - first time Ive ever had soggy chips in a Spoons, as theres no way a bit of melted melted cheese would stop crispy chips staying crispy. Cookie Dough was good. Hot drinks machines ran out of hot chocolate and coffee. The milk wasnt kept topped up for the tea either. Parking: Parking on a Saturday night in the services car park was an absolute mare when it came to leaving. Lots of people there who seemed to be using it as a place for some sort of unofficial car meet, taking apart car engines etc and making it difficult to get out.
Pepsi Max tastes nothing like it should. The service was quick and friendly. Food was served hot and promptly.
Ive been in Wetherspoons all over. This is easily the best.
Very expensive to other wetherspoons
Food was cold, staff were informed and took the food to replace it. Second time around it was cold again. Couldn t be bothered that time so ended up eating a cold meal. Most disappointing.
Slightly above the general Wetherspoon standard what you see is what you get but with a little more flourish here
Compared to the mall next door this Wetherspoons was a genuine haven of civilization! Blimey, did I really just use the words Spoons and civilisation in the same sentence? Food
Not a real spoons. Prices are higher than normal and there is no burger and a beer. Pint of thatchers was £1.30 more then one 5 km away. Ordered a pint of larger shandy and they charged £4.78 which is the same price as a pint of Stella. If you order a half pint of beer and a pint of r.whites its 50p cheaper.... what a rip off. Captive audience sadly. If you have the ability go elsewhere.
Good place for a stop off the motorway food is cheap enough ,service good , selection off beers and other drinks.
No good customer service at all!!!
Smoking in no smoking area. No wonder we are all suffocating
Fantastic
Excellent service and food as always
Very good for a services rest stop. Food good, staff good. Not the same type of pub atmosphere you would get at a local but what do you expect with a pub/restaurant at a rest stop. Would recommend Parking: 3 hours free i think
The lady on bar/service went above and beyond. She was super friendly and made our visit so memorable that we felt it only right to review and recommend The Hope & Champion.
Great place for drink
Had a chinwag with the manager. Lovely fella. Hope the birthday trip to New York goes well pal, will return.
Great place to eat
Four of us stopped for a bite to eat on way to London. To our surprise it was really quiet for a Saturday lunch time on a bank holiday We all went for the all day brunch Food was great and nicely cooked. Coffee was fine . Staff members friendly. Good choice by us Could not fault anything. Thank you Spoons .
We were lucky. Friendly (and funny) waiter. Perfect fish and chips and curry. We were sitting outside in the sun. Parking: I dont know if the parking spaces would have cost anything. Didnt pay anything. Sorry
The most unorganised place in the world. Ordered breakfast...... My wifes breakfast came in about 10 mins (not bad)....after 20 mins mine hadnt shown up so I had a word with the waiteres she said it would only be a couple of minutes........40 mins later my breakfast turned up.......I sent it away.... Please get your act together......
Very impressed with this spoons. Food was hot and the portions were of a good size. The staff were polite. All round very good experience.
Good service fast
Food was rubbish. Payed £7 I think, for an American burger. Could have gotten better from McDonalds. At least you get a drink there
Great place Trump 24
I had hot chocolate - it was the worst I have had in a Wetherspoons. I didnt finish it. I didnt have the energy to ask a member of staff for assistance. It was very weak. Not their usual hot chocolate. Being a JD Wetherspoons in a motorway service area makes it different. It has a large art mural style piece in the room where the bar is, and there are two other indoor areas with tables. At the height of the season its likely to get very busy. The tables were fairly closely spaced, but not as closely as Ive seen in other branches. The front and rear of the pub have outside seating. On a pleasant - or even just dry - day these would be a very enjoyable spot for a break. The rear in particular, it looks out over a garden area with a small lake. Parking: Its a motorway service area, East bound, so there is a largish car park with free parking for a period, then paid. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessibility looks good, no steps, all flat.
Food was good, but several dishes were unavailable, service okay.
not a bad pub for food.
This one is more expensive than the average spoons due to the location. I had a chicken burger and a drink for a little over £10. Theres a good-sized terrace that overlooks a pond and grassed area. Food : 4/5
I have never been in a Wetherspoons that wasnt unique and brilliant.
Not your typical Weatherspoons.... the service is top notch. This place has had upgrades and its well noticed. The food was delicious. The bacon is tasty and grilled lovely, eggs cooked perfectly. Well worth paying a little extra for that great service and yummy food!
Turned off coffee machine literally after I ordered coffee and refused to either provide the coffee or to refund me. Rude bar girl, no smiles, dont bother going.
Stopped while waiting for a flight to arrive at Heathrow.
Stopped to break a long journey. Was clean, staff friendly and competent.
Stopped here 24/9/2023. Overnight stop decided to eat here . Bar staff great. However our starter was severed all together with our mains. Returned the mains and asked for them to be made fresh. Allegedly this is what had been done! Rest assured they were not! It was late and could not be bothered to send back again. Burger bun was hard had been kept under heat.chips & onion rings cold ! Steak was medium raw but hard as nails on the outside reheated! Do stalk think that customers are stupid. Please be careful when visiting.
Food was hot and served quickly. Not many people in the pub. A couple of the tables dotted around had debris on it, other than that, quite clean! Toilets were spotless. Food : 4/5
Very handy good place for a breakfast pricing is 5* more or less high street prices
Despite being almost empty, we went to four tables before finding one that was clean. The staff seemed quite disinterested except for one who was really helpful. The food was standard for Weatherspoons, but for the price was not great on portion or quality.
Excellent service as usual
Id asked for mushrooms as an alternative to baked beans for my breakfast; one mushroom was all I got and it was the size of a 10p. Other than that everything was OK.
It was 8.30 on a Monday morning so didnt really expect atmosphere. However service was great and the food was OK.
I had fish and chips, fish was very overdone and fresh garden peas were fresh a longtime ago
I had the opportunity to eat breakfast here. Very pleasant atmosphere, varied, tasty breakfasts. Portions just right to start the day. Nice place with unlimited coffee refills.
Ouch! The food has jumped up in price! Even though the excellent service is worth it, not sure if the food is?
Traditional breakfast- cheap, cheerful and cold.
Nothing special, just does a job.. no real change today on revisit... Many better options available on this site.. Try Leon or Nandos....!
Usual spoons good quality food but limited menu and ever smaller portions sadly :-(
Food was revolting, worst spoons Ive ever been ,chips hard and cold
First time visited and realy enjoyed it, food was on the tables quickly and in my opinion and my familys opinion was 1st class will deffo be bk, give a big thumbs up to your staff
I went with my adult kids and ex, we all had a lovely meal, good portions and there were options for veg/pescatarians which makes things so much easier. My son used the table ordering app, which was a first for me. It works really well, the staff who served us were friendly and helpful.
The staff were polite. Food was good and out in a reasonable time. The restaurant was clean. It was a tad expensive for Wetherspoons, but it was at services at Beaconsfield..
The Wetherspoon standard never disappoints and is always the same.
A good place to stop going to Heathrow Airport or coming home, 30 mins away, was busy but very quick service alot of other places to eat not just a pub and toilets, very clean. Parking: Big car park
Overall was good, service was a bit slow for off-peak breakfast.
Not to shabby love this place after a days grafting friendly staff and a nice atmosphere! Must be the motorway access that keeps the riff raff away till the next time H&C x
Allways good
Too expensive for a spoons
Very good tasting food and great customer service.
Really good meal. Free tea refills!
Prices were far more expensive at this wetherspoons compared to others we have eaten at. The menu wasnt the same as the others either. Food was tasty staff were friendly atmosphere was a bit dull.
Was sick 10 minutes after eating the food stay away miss sent her food back twice
Nice place to stop on the M40.
Had breakfast. Love Wetherspoons. Good service, good price, good food. An unexpected treat for a service station stop.
A really lovely restaurant, good food, quick service, if only all motorway services were like this one, it had a great vibe!
Its nice to have a Wetherspoons at a motorway services to give an alternative to the usual Greggs and McDonalds that you normally have to choos from. Its a nice pub, very spacious and clean with its own toilets so you dont have to go into the main services at all. Its got a nice upstairs section where you can enjoy the view of the pond out the back. Theres a big playground for the kids as well which would be great for anyone whos travelling as a family, the kids would really be able to let off some steam up there which would be a welcome relief from long journeys. Seems a bit more expensive than a usual Wetherspoons though, I paid £16 for a burger and a beer but honestly you cant complain with that because its decent food and much nicer than sitting in the main services area.
Ideal break on London end of M40 Parking: Motorway services Food : 5/5 |
Used the app to order for group of six. Reasonably quick and accurate. Liked the self service coffee refill. Would use this place again as a convenient meeting place on M40
Food not the greatest and slow service. Ended up putting the food it a takeaway box as we waited so long..
Brilliant pint BUT the food was rubbish steak was annihilated shocking
Popped in for lunch with a friend - great food, nice atmosphere and very lovely and friendly staff
Poor choice of Real Ale. Doom Bar or 3 Twickenham brewery beers that were on next
