I would definitely return to The Jolly Cricketers. The food was lovely - I had the duck leg, very crispy and tender. Service was great and quick. The atmosphere generally is very nice, relaxed cosy pub vibes. They don’t have parking so you need to park in the village- there are some spaces outside, however worse case scenario you may have to walk a couple of mins (although easy to pull over outside to drop off those that are less mobile).
Met my brother for lunch, half way for both of us. Well worth 160 mile round trip. Both the calamari and mussels starter were delicious. I would go as far as to say the mussels were the best I've ever tasted. I opted for fish and chips main. The quality of the fish was sublime, big fat chunky flakes of cod, almost creamy in texture that melted in my mouth. My brother ordered the seabass, after clearing his plate he commented, perfect sized portion. I even managed dessert , albeit out of nothing more than pure gluttonous greed. The cherry tart also received a well deserved thumbs up. Loved the atmosphere, especially the amount of dogs in the bar. Little gem of a place.
Cannot rave about this pub enough. We’ve been coming here for years and the most quintessentially English atmosphere fused with outrageously good food and top drink list never disappoints.Warm welcome from all the staff and locals always. Keep on keeping Jolly Cricketers ❤️
Nice country pub. Very good service and fabulous food. Only slight annoyance was parking.
Very friendly and welcoming. The food was good, but I don't think I chose well in my main course. The food is extremely fresh, but my chips were soggy and food only warm. The hake (very tasty) had its skin left on, which was flabby. The mussels were delicious, as were the squid and soup. Will definitely revisit its a really lovely local pub.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here . The atmosphere was great with excellent service and food . My only slight negative was that we booked well ahead and chose the restaurant. We felt wedged between the door and the serving area . It didn’t feel like a restaurant experience with the guests open the door behind us or the waiters squeezing past Apart from this - excellent
Just really loved the surprise of this place. Looks kinda ordinary outside and the inside is a nice mix of old and new. Love their support of local produce and producers. Staff super friendly with perfect balance of helpful but chilled. Food really tasty. Squid 🦑 not great (you gotta get that right in the world of squid games) but everything else spot on. A brilliant start to a great afternoon as we went on to the Woodfine Wine tour just down the road which was fab!!!!
A warm welcome, a beautiful pub full of character and charm. Great selection of drinks, staff super nice and the crackling fire was great. I do not think the Sunday roast was worth £19.50 tho. Small portions and beef a little tough.
Village pub that successfully spans the divide between village local and gastropub. Its dog friendly and very welcoming. Excellent beers from rebellion brewery and occasional other guest beers. Well worth a visit. Sunday lunch booking essential although you can still show up for an ad hoc pint or two
Pleasant environment, attentive cheerful staff and reasonable value for money. Menu a little limited but meals were well cooked, nicely presented and tasty. Vegetarian options: Limited options but fish was well cooked and enjoyable
The food we had was great, but no gravy (really) and no coffee. They added 12% to the bill automatically but we chose to pay less which they were chilled about. Food
We really enjoyed our night. Always a delight to see a pub busy on a Monday evening
Lovely and dog friendly traditional English pub. Will be back. First class
Always good to go back, but in this case, it was to celebrate the life of a dear friend Parking: We attended a large wake, which was the prime cause of parking difficulties.
Not dined here but the atmosphere is pretty and the service is very
Great food and ambience
Very nice food, though a bit more generous portion would have been nice and the service was pretty good. Impressive.
Very disappointing that we could not order food from the rear garden so we could watch the Chalfont Wind Band. So we spent a lot of money on food and drink for a partial side view of the wind band and under cover on a sunny afternoon. I chose the steak and it was mostly fatty gristle. Really disappointing.
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary in the garden marquees. Everything was perfect, Chris and Amanda went out of their way to ensure the evening ran smoothly. JJ and Christian ran the bar brilliantly and Matt and his team did us proud with delicious food. The feedback from our guests was glowing. Local friends helped with decor and cake which were fabulous It was such a memorable night Thank you all xxxx
The food in the JC is superb . The Hake was just awesome
Incredible food so definitely recommended. Service a little inconsistent and can be slow. Beautiful pub in a lovely village but be prepared for high prices!
Great food and service. Little slow but wasn t a major issue.
Food roar cook came out to talk to me .listened whent back in . No offer of a refund.
Our Border Terrier Mabel was made welcome too
Always good food and choice of drinks ,service with a smile or a bit of a chat or banter, consistently good ,best to reserve a table too avoid disappointment Parking: Around the church roads you will find a space
Lovely food, but pretty amateur service for a dining pub.
Lovely pub food and great atmosphere and drinks. Bar and restaurant are similar places but the bar allows dogs, which is an added bonus!
Very decent pub grub in a nice location with good service. What more could you wish for?
First visit in a long time but wont be our last Great food I had hake&cod cheeks fish & chips lovely the hake could have been a tad hotter to be perfect the roast beef was fab Im told and everyone had a empty plate So that speaks for its self .
A delicious lunch today (very fresh haddock and wonderful homemade tartare sauce with tarragon, and a delicious risotto), accompanied with superb service and a fair price. Will definitely be back!
This is a rare gem, Great pub, Great food, Great staff , Just absolutely lovely, look forward to going every single week , consistent and excellent value for money too Family run business Highly recommend
We had an excellent meal at The Jolly Cricketers! The food was first class. There was a good choice of drinks. I would certainly recommend a visit you wont be disappointed! Food
Fantastic food. Really high quality. Parking can be tricky though
We don t really want to bang on about how good everything was here else everyone else will come! Fab. Thanks for looking after us so well!
Fabulous lunch at this dog friendly pub. Staff are super friendly. Food was delicious. Easy to park & nice surrounding walks.
Great pub, with lovely staff and atmosphere and of course delicious food. Dog-friendly pub is a huge plus. Food : 5/5
A perfect meal in a pub with quality food and service.
Lovely country pub with delicious food Wheelchair accessibility: My mum walks with a rollator. She managed to negotiate the pub with that but it would be very tight for a wheelchair. Food : 5/5 |
Family booking for new years day, early evening. After both hearing and reading excellent reports we were all looking forward to a good family meal. Limited menu, ok, its new years day, however, we were all so disappointed, linguine with Cornish seafood, served packet spaghetti with shrimp and inedible calamari, tasteless. Burger, greasy and 1 serving contained a foreign body..answer from staff .we will knock that 1 from the bill. Nothing else said. Fried fish, thick better, chewy not crunchy. All in all. Awful, averaging 20£ per head for pub food. Will not be back.
Have not eaten here before even though it is local. Food was fantastic and the staff very friendly.
Kid-friendliness: Staff and customers all very relaxed with presence of children. Food
What a pub. Lovely beers and great food. Superb ambience. Top top top
Excellent Staff, great food, good choices o drinks, a must go pub! Being a Veggie, it was good to see options to chose from. Nut roast was excellent and would love to order it again on my next visit, probably on a bike ride! Pricing was a bit on a dearer side, may be something to look into? Overall, excellent experience.
Frozen cold bread , awful salad Never again very slow service
Great food with friendly staff
Lovely food, nice vibe great beers. The holy trinity
Service poor. Staff did not bother to listen to request and pass it in to kitchen. Food ordinary.
Had a great rugby afternoon. Even though I was on the losing side. Loved the atmosphere, people. Rebellion choices were great. Wonderful Portuguese red wine and scotch eggs as always - amazing . Wish I could have been there longer.. Thank you to all...
Food was excellent I had a rib eye steak cooked to perfection. Chips were good But no option for a steak sauce apart from butter such a shame hence 4 Toilets also need a bit of a clean & modernist Lovely little pub would definitely go back
Nice pub, great burger!
Cool, the food is top-notch
Nice liquid
Fantastic find. Food is excellent and the staff delightful. Been back twice and plan to go again soon
Perfect burger and perfect meal Terrific service Love coming here
Visited for Easter Sunday lunch! Delicious food and polite staff!
What a wonderful pub in a great location with friendly service and excellent food. Look forward to visiting again.
Best pub I ve ever been to! Food is fantastic. Drinks are incredible. Atmosphere is so fun!! Highly recommend!!!! Landlords are the best. Beautiful pub.
We just spent a great evening at The Cricketers. The service was friendly and trouble free. All of the food from starters through to desserts was of a very high standard. Fresh with fantastic flavour. Much better food than some of the other local pubs in the same area..... We shall return.
One of the nicest meals we have had and service at the jolly cricketers today over many years. So nice to see it doing well and producing such nice food and service.
Really like this pub. Food was very good, really friendly helpful service, beer from Rebellion, a decent selection of wines. Got rather noisy when the restaurant area filled up, so it became hard to hold a conversation.
This place is superb - I did not leave a conscious review when I looked at the website and the one star was a brush with the finger! This place is outstanding on every parameter!
Popped in for a couple with my dad. The staff are lovely. The price is not too bad for Guinness either.
Great pub great atmosphere and great food.
Beautifully cooked and presented food, delicious.
Absolutely delicious lunch here today - moules mariniere to start followed by chicken breast with girolles & tarragon butter. The mariniere sauce in particular was a highlight - very authentic, top marks to the chef Lovely service too. Looking forward to my next visit there already! Food
Nice pub restaurant and food. They didn t have our booking for some reason but got us a table outside and a free bottle of Prosecco as a gesture. That s was nice!
a good menu and choice of drinks. the cinnamon pavlova with plums is very nice
The mushy peas were tastless and tough
Very well presented and tasty food. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff are lovely.
Good food and service
Good food in a nice buzzing pub atmosphere
Okay food but seriously expensive. Internally, this is a bog standard pub but I ended up paying over £17 for the smallest portion of fish and chips Ive ever seen. My vegan friend paid £15 for what was essentially a plate of side dishes. Make hearty food or get Michelin quality!
Nice place ,lovely !!
The perfect local pub!
Great atmosphere, fantastic food at a great price.
Lovely pub with friendly staff and a good range of drinks. We have eaten here before and the food is excellent. Would recommend booking if you want a table.
Good food, good drink and good atmosphere
Lovely pub with fantastic service. I had the venison & mushroom pie which was delicious.
Dog says thankyou for her special dog biscuit! and the humans enjoyed the food as well!
The perfect little country pub serving great gastro-pub type food. Not cheap but definitely worth a visit.
Supremely good. Cracking food, great service. Cannot wait to return.
Lovely vibe, great menu and wonderful service. Our waitress was so helpful and friendly, making great suggestions and made us feel truly valued. Thank you!
Excellent Sunday lunch, nice atmosphere and a lovely open fire. Very good, and reasonable, wine list too
Lovely country pub with good food
What a great pub, Rebellion & London Pride
Made a reservation for 14 guests for lunch. Pre ordered meal choices the day before. Waited an hour for meals to be served. When food arrived all the plates were stone cold and a lot of the meal were cold as well. Suspect meals were cooked fine but left too long to be brought to the table. The menu was very heavily fish orientated.. The pub changed a lot of the menu 24 hours after the booking and removed the option of even soup as a starter. Given the fact 14 meals were cold or just tepid expected to pay full cost. No complaints about the staff. Don t think the pub was able to cater for the numbers in the reservation. Website needs to be updated in line with any menu changes. As per a previous reviewer wrote the pub is trying to be Michelin styled without the ability to fulfil that status
Lovely atmosphere and good food! Thank you Emilia
Good food. Very friendly. Beautiful tomato and pepper soup. As walkers, we could have done with a more substantial pudding.
Nik the bar man excellent service, especially cocktails! Deserves a pay rise!!
I was taken here for lunch by 2 friends. All 3 of us had the fish with deep fried cod cheek. Absolutely cooked to perfection, presentation was excellent. 5***** This Pub/ Restaurant is an excellent establishment to visit. Nev
Fantastic
Superb food, exceptionally friendly staff, would high recommend.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff BUT disappointing food. Expensive menu given the average quality of the food. We live locally and have been 3 times recently. The food was mainly a bit bland and portions are small especially given the price. Will go back for drinks but not eat there.
Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, great service would recommend.
Lovely lunch in the garden, good service from the minute we arrived and throughout lunch. The staff were really busy. The food was delicious, recommended the Chicken burger
Lovely quintessentially British pub. Staff is always kind and happy. The food is delicious. Its hard to get a table even outside so booking recommended.
Very, very good indeed. Food is excellent. Service great too. Highly recommended!
Great food and beer
Friendly pub with lovely outdoor seating area. Service is good and lots of quirky decor.
Expensive. Scotch Egg £5.50 and a slice of sausage roll £5.50!! Not impressed. How do you justify that?
Great old pub
Good food and service.
Met friends for dinner. Our firsr visit. Dinner was delicious. Great atmosphere.
Small local pub with nice outside space & a good menu.
One of my favourite pubs. The food is fantastic
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Friendly and polite staff, had a great afternoon here. The chicken pie is unbelievable!
Lovely Sunday lunch. Staff very nice, great beer
It was fine. Avoid the ale mussels though, very disappointing.
Staff was friendly, good food and atmosphere.
Great food and lovely pub
I ve eaten here a few times and love visiting when we visit. Friendly welcome and an instant community feel. I haven t been lucky with food as on a visit in October I tried a fish dish and despite being full of flavour the portion was small and didn t reflect the price I paid, I sat with food envy as I watched my friends devour the delicious beef roast. More recently I choose belly pork which was cold in the middle and more annoying the crackling was soft (I Know) when you indulge with a pork roast I have pre conceived ideas because you want crackling to be crisp and delicious. On a positive, the roast potatoes are amazing and the gravy is perfect. I will return as it s a great place.
Food was very tasty and they have done a nice job of the outside area to allow more dining. However, we were a little surprised at the cost of some of the main courses - one of our party had asparagus as a main course and it was £16 which seemed very expensive for what was received. The rest of our meals were very good.
Used to live in the village having grown up there. Visited from Cornwall. Chris & Amanda have/are doing a great job. The pub retains its sleepy Chiltern village charm, with a warm welcome , great beer selection and wonderful food.
Good food and a relaxed feel
Great food
Nice breakfast roll after running
Our favourite pub ever - the food is delicious and the staff always go above and beyond. They have made their heated outside tents Covid safe and very comfortable and now in lockdown we love their takeaways. We feel extremely lucky to have such a wonderful village pub.
The Jolly Cricketers is our local gastropub, and its always brilliant. Its run by a lovely couple and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, a log fire and amazing food. Weve been lots of times over the last few years, and its always a pleasure. Theyre doing wonderful takeaway meals during lockdown, and there are plans afoot for an outdoor kitchen too. Highly recommended.
Fantastic pub, brilliant food - and now open in post-lockdown 3, fantastic covid guidelines. We were sat outside next to one of the new patio heaters and blankets are also provided which meant we were toasty. Really friendly staff who were totally in control of the situation, and our food was fantastic (we had the chicken and the grilled hake - both wonderful!).
Warm, friendly and a beautiful pub. Great food, selection of drinks and service. Book ahead to make sure you get a space
Great food beer & service
Excellent food, beer and service. Not cheap!
Great vibe and great food. Quintessentially British pub
Slightly slow service but food was lovely and the price was about spot on. Dog friendly with treats given to our hound by our server which I thought was a nice touch. Will be back.
We came here for dinner and drinks back in April. The food and drinks were amazing, cant wait to return!!
Very nice old fashioned country pub. Good food, good service, value for money, very dog friendly
Excellent food and excellent service, within a unique and pleasant atmosphere.
Super place to eat good food with spectacularly friendly service - thank you all so much - we be back!
Excellent food
Nice big bowl of mussels to share as a starter. Really tasty and fresh. Arancini dish really clever and original. Fish and chips nice with the battered cheek. £60 for two people.
Excellent service and food, highly recommend the Cricketers Burger
Food was excellent
Nice country pub with gardens and plenty of outside seating.
Love this little pub. Food is always good, and the atmosphere is as it should be. Book ahead!
Good food and good friendly service as always
Cant fault the place. Consistently wonderful food in a wonderful village.
Lovely pub,great food,very nice staff
Nice setting . Poor covid practice . No staff wearing masks even indoors . starters good ,mains ok.
Second visit here with family group of eight for a 70th wedding anniversary lunch, having been impressed with the standard of a Sunday lunch with friends a few weeks before. Standard consistently good, especially given that we were a largish group and it was a quieter midweek day. Superb Scotch eggs, succulent plump mussels - so often overcooked to chewy orange scraps - and some really good vegetarian options which several off us chose even though nobody was actually vegetarian! Waiting staff were excellent - really made us feel welcome and not rushed in any way. For food of this standard I thought the prices were very fair and would definitely return.
Very nice starf
Great service by Amelia (with an A)
Excellent food and service.
Great food, drink and service
*Cold food. *Not asked how we wanted beef cooked! *Gooseberries arrived with panna cotta instead of passion fruit that was on the menu!* Wine glasses not brought with wine! * tea and coffee at the end and had to wait ages for the tea as the staffchatted
Great venue to watch the rugby. The service was great and the burgers were good. Awesome flavour and juicy.
Absolutely delicious food served by extremely helpful staff. Compliments to the chef
Usual great food and service . ..
Good pub and very friendly staff
Very nice staff and good choice of drinks on tap. I didnt eat but food looks great
We had a lovely brunch sitting outside by the pavilion bar. Dog friendly. Delicious food and great service. Thanks
Four of us went for a mid week supper. We had pre-booked as its a very popular place. Theres no parking at the moment, as the rear of the pub has a large marquee for outdoor dining. On street parking is available around the village. The pub is tastefully presented with paintings and other art related to cricket. The staff are welcoming and professional, providing a good service. Dogs are permitted outside and in the bar area. We had fish dishes, puddings, wine, beer and coffee totalling £90 per couple - including a tip. The food was excellently presented and very tasty. We didnt feel rushed and the atmosphere was relaxed. I would certainly recommend this place to others.
Delicious food and great service
Great food and wonderful staff
The food is absolutely brilliant here. Staff are lovely and catered our every need with a smile. Highly recommend!
Delicious food, lovely little pub
Amazing Sunday lunch with friends roast beef was an excellent choice our server hannah was great best roast potatoes ever thank you
Had lunch here today with my elderly parents, wife and Molly our English setter. Great place; very welcoming Service impeccable Food mostly very good Best Scotch egg ever anywhere. Squid quite nice but sauce/dip was far too salty; everyone thought so Venison pie superb according to my wife Hamburger and chips nothing special; burger overcooked and too dry; chips OK but not delicious...and chips should always be delicious. Apple and pear crumble marvellous
Awsome food and service
Nice local country pub with good social distancing measures
Excellent scotch eggs
Lovely countryside pub in Seer Green. The british cheese platter was delicious.
Really good experience. Food was vwry tasty. I had grilled fish and cod cheeks, very soft and fresh. My partner had a burger, he said the mear could ve more twnder but nic in overall. It could be a bit cheaper for a pub but it was yummy.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. All in all a real gem!
In these covid times getting a tablr at short notice can be difficult. We were fortunate to book this pub to meet up with frienfs from nearby Beaconsfield. They told us it had a good reputation and it livef up to it. The sysryers were good: scotch egg, ptawns in a half pint pot; olives and bread. The maind we went for the bream and nicoise salad (chaps) and mussels (gals). We were all happy and sttled for ice cteams and sumner fruits marengue for afters. Again very good. Why were they not fully booked?
Some of the best pub food in the Chilterns so far. Dont miss the crispy squid with soy and ginger or the hand cut chips. The staff are great too
Service and food was excellent. Will definitely go again.
Really good food in a quirky village pub
Good pub solid food
Amazing food! Lovely outside area which has been made bigger since lockdown! Super dog friendly and heaters too!!
Brilliant food, brilliant service, great bar.......36 happy runs every over
Small portions but nice food. Expensive but posh area so to be expected. Good beers
We visited The Jolly Cricketers for lunch today and it was an absolutely delicious meal in a cosy, friendly environment. We will definitely be visiting again.
Great atmosphere, nice staff, great food&wine. Blankets against the cold wouldve made it perfect!
Great food, great beer, great hosts
Weve dined here a few times and recently decided to get a takeaway meal because we (usually) love the food...this was a bit of an error though as the portion was miniscule. We went for fish and chips and got the smallest little piece of burnt fish, a tiny little pot of mushy peas and a few chips. Ill probably come back for a roast but will avoid takeaways from now on - its not cheap either! Shame as this was our fave little spot in Bucks.
Top class attractive and healthy food. Cant wait to go back.
Great covid secure pub, nice, warm welcome for doggos and there humans who do need looking after from time to time, nice good food... Will go back soon
