I sent my request for a booking via the website booking form a day prior to arrival but received no reply. On the day, I phoned prior to opening & received a prompt reply reserving a table. Upon arrival, the staff were courteous and professional. I do judge restaurants cleanliness by the standard of cleanliness of their toilets as if they are clean, we are in good hands. Both the gents and ladies toilets were spotless & clean with excellent hand dryers in working order. We ordered a bhuna & chicken curry with nan breads. Both were well cooked. I'd give the curries 3 out of 5 & the Nans 5 out of 5. They were just right every time (we ordered nans twice). Finished with tea. I'd recommend a visit as you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic! Web site, easy to navigate. Ordering online is so incredibly simple and easy to use. Ordered 3 times now, twice over the phone and once online. All 3 times, the food arrived before 45 mins expected delivery!! Food was outstanding! Meat is succulent. All the meals were wonderful. My dad shared one and said its the best Indian he has had since his very first in 1968!!! Highly recommend to everyone x
Searched for a long time now to find quality Indian food that caters for Vegans, and was not disappointed. The menu was clearly labelled and spoilt for choice. Excellent, attentive service and great environment. My vegetable passander was chock full of a good variety of fresh vegetables and not a potato filler in sight.
Excellent food. Menu is fantastic and particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. It can not be expensive and they do not different deals on different nights.Their take out delivery is on time and staff behavior is so gentle. Highly recommended.
The potions were very small for the price, 4 pieces of chicken malai boti, which was completely bland, I can smell the aroma of cardemom but since it was bland has no taste, it wasn't nice, the squid rings with mash potatoes, the squid rings where the one we get frozen from shop, they didn't made it, they just took it out of the freezer and into the frying pan, that's what they did. The Dum ki chicken was 15£ for just 4 pieces which again were tasteless, the aalo paratha, was small and I can't taste the aalo in it,(potatoes) ,the mash with the squid ring was a bit tasty otherwise I wouldn't recommend this place, too expensive and not good food. The only good thing was the customer service but what's the use, we went there to eat not to experience customer service.
Excellent. Knowledgable and friendly staff. Food was beautiful. They have a vegan society approved menu alongside their standard menu, with plenty of choice which was very appreciated. They are following all government guidelines regarding covid also. I will definitely be back, even just for the orange coloured dip which is so so tasty! :-)
V pleasantly surprised. Menu leans as would be expected to the local predominately non-Asian locale. That said the Owner Khalid and Staff Abdul v attentive and helpful. Took the time to tailor the food to Indian expectations. Nice pleasant bright interior and v courteous service. Overall v pleased. Definitely worth a revisit.
We had a great time in Basmati, the staff is attentive and very helpfuly. They very kindly helped us customise the dishes to cater to our tastes. I would recommed a visit to anybody, especially if looking for good food and a laidback and pleasant athmospere.
Wow, read an article on the award won. So tried a few of the dishes, and they were delicious, great flavour, not oily and the Peshwari bread was excellent. Great service
I drive an hour for a curry .... what more can I add
very good food, excellent service and presentation. very friendly people too
Just came, starters were brilliant and the staff were even better. The food came quickly and was delicious, the naan bread was piping hot. The staff were extremely friendly and the one tending to us took 10 mins out of his day to chat to us about the dishes and India, their culture and more.
Great food, attentive staff. Very enjoyable meal.
Recommend this restaurant! Food and Service was excellent
We ordered a takeaway dinner from here and it was divine!!! Amazing food. What a way to enjoy a Sunday dinner. Happy we found a local Indian restaurant to order from going forward. Thank you!
Bad takeaway experience. They got the order wrong (ordered a vegetable curry, got a chicken one). Also ordered a portion of poppadoms for £1.50. Received only 1 poppadom. £1.50 per poppadom seems a bit stingy. The curry wasnt impressive at all; bland & congealed. This place may be catering to a relatively undiverse area but I dont think that is enough of an excuse for a bland old-fashioned 1980s style curry. Based on this experience, I dont think this place would cope very well with any kind of local competition
My first curry from here (takeaway) last night - excellent. The interior looked smart so looking forward to a sit-down meal here later in the year
Most amazing food - highly recommend the vegan butter curry! Our favourite takeaway.
Very slow take away service. Disappointing.
Really clean, and stylish, friendly staff and the food is amazing
Excellent place to eat
Had a takeaway not the best but not bad
Ive been wanting to try new Indian restaurants for some time so chose Basmati with friends. I always over order and like to try a mixtures of different dishes to share and asked for something that was not on the menu but was more than happy to make it. We all enjoyed our meals and the staff was great. I wouldnt rush back but I would come back! Well worth a visit.
Always friendly welcome and great tasting food too!
Great Indian food
Delicious food, worth the wait. Very attentive staff and individually cooked fresh food of a high quality. Delicious.
A little disappointed in some areas, but the food was excellent
Recommended, super Indian meal
Poor service, now been waiting for delivery for approaching 1 3/4hrs...despite being told it would be 10mins 20 mins ago...not impressed at all
Great food and service
Excellent food and friendly staff.
This is a brilliant Indian restaurant. I think the highlight of the evening was a magician who is at the restaurant at the moment - he goes from table to table performing magic tricks, which I thought was a fantastic idea! The waiters are nice and the service is quick. Unfortunately my order (a lamb nantara) was confused, and I received a chicken nantara instead, although I see no reason to dock a star for this as all of the food was delicious, and the waiters apologised immediately and gave me a lamb nantara too at no extra price. In conclusion I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want great-tasting Indian food at a reasonable price, with the added bonus of a magician visiting your table while you wait for your food!
These guys really seem to care, the food was excellent on both occasions and the portions were good. Priced a little higher than Birmingham but the food is just as good... Under a fiver for a pint is about as good as you get round these parts. Ill probably head back there tonight....
Ive regularly used Basmati for takeaways and meals with friends. Theyre always very friendly and attentive. Their food is delicious, so much so that we have friends who ask if we can eat there, or get a takeaway from them when they come to visit. They also really support the community and get involved in local events. Id definitely recommend them.
By far one of the best dining experiences I have ever had, amazing staff, great food, even during lockdown their quality was amazing, a restaurant experience delivered to your door. Amazing, thank you for so many wonderful lockdown takeaways :) Look forward to coming back to see you soon :)
Always a pleasure to order from here staff are kind polite and very genuine. 10/10 would highly recommend to anyone! Best Indian in Beaco
An amazing meal and fabulous service. A must have treat that may have to become our must go to indian. Best weve had yet.
Best place to eat around here. Excellent food and service
Lovely takeaway..best ever onion bhajis
Had a fantastic meal there last night and it s so nice to find somewhere that properly caters for our vegan diet. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend!!
Amazing service and excellent food
Dishonest. Rude. Unreasonable. I wouldn t trust these people not to spit in my food! 2020 UPDATE: 4 years after posting this review, the restaurant has responded, saying that after a thorough investigation , they were unable to find my order. Furthermore they have inculcated that this review is not genuine, and even suggested it might be fake or from a rival restaurant. I have been making fair, reasoned, and well-explained reviews on Google for 14 years, and was welcomed onto their Local Guides scheme 8 years ago. I was born in Beaconsfield and parents still live there. This kind of response is goading, disrespectful, and in the end will reflect badly on this restaurant. I wouldn t dream of fabricating facts, and of course I don t run a rival restaurant - what a silly accusation. Might I suggest this restaurant takes some responsibility, because at the time I made a direct complaint over the phone (see below) to give them the chance to rectify the situation before going public with my review, and the results were disastrous as you can read about below. 2016 ORIGINAL REVIEW: Standards have plummeted! People make mistakes. Its how you deal with them that matters - this restaurants response to their mistakes was astonishingly bad! Basmati is near my parents place, we were hungry, it was 9pm. They have been eating here for years but after tonight they said never again. Mum ordered a takeout over the phone. They asked do you want the tikka as starter or main and she said as a main. Dad went to pick up. The tikka didnt even show up. (Wait, so they asked what size tikka, then didnt even include it?) There was only one rice not two as ordered. (For four people!) We received 4 out of 8 poppadoms. The naan was small, poor flavour, and way too chewy. The pasanda was inedible. King prawns in evapourated milk. No joke. White sauce that resembled a thin cheese sauce. Horrendous. An affront to Indian food! This pasanda in itself shows the restaurant is making a mockery of Indian food. Phoned to complain about error in order. Response: it was our fault (!) because they always confirm the order at pickup. Attempted to charge for the poppadoms we ordered. I asked but how do I know we havent already paid for them?, which wasnt the point but a good question to start with. He said he didnt charge for it. I replied how do I know, the receipt is a scrawl and you got so much else wrong! He asserted, I am not lying to you sir. I wasnt for one second suggesting malice, just an inability to get things right. I also explained the pasanda was basically prawns in some white sauce. He asked have you ever had a pasanda? What a question! To which I replied yes, onion, cinnamon, cardamom, tomato, coriander, chilli - NONE of the above. Literally I cannot stress enough this was prawn in evapourated milk. His response? Well ours is very very creamy. Outrageous. I cant believe I became angry over the phone, but I demanded to not pay for their mistake. I paid for a replacement for the awful pasanda, on the optimistic grounds that perhaps our standards are just different. (And Im a bit British.) We ordered a korma instead - big mistake... They delivered the replacement - but wait - somehow the delivery driver turned up at Woodside Avenue, not Woodside Road where parents live. Im sure they convinced themselves I got the address wrong as well as my original order. You know, the address of the house I grew up in... And as for the replacement korma? A food coloured version based on the same evapourated milk base. Or perhaps not food colouring, but garam masala, if Im being optimistic. No evidence of any freshly prepared ... anything. Lumps of prawn FLOATING in a mono-coloured sauce. Like a savoury rice pudding with food colouring. I am a flexible customer. Sometimes standards are not to my expectations and often I accept this, perhaps too readily. But to serve curries as what seems to be different variations on the same evapourated milk base, thats an absolute insult to customers.
Ordered for delivery. Delivery driver was rude and late all my family order was cold, food was tasteless. I rang the restaurant they said not my problem put it in the microwave. ( Brilliant thanks a lot After seeing your reply, I even rang and you refused to help or do anything for us but oh well cover you back with your reply. Thanks again
Lovely food, taste good. Service was excellent. Could not fault them..
Had a fantastic covid safe meal here with friends the weekend before lockdown #2 (Nov-20), one of the best authentic old school curry houses around and Ive tried all the Maliks, Coriander and Spice Merchant places. This place is very consistent and tastes are great. All food was fresh and not swimming in Gee or oil. Recommend for takeaways too.
Lovely meal as usual.
Good food and hosted well for a large party of over 20 people.
Poor customer service, as a regular I would hope for more, over charging, not offering the 10 percent discount for collection and being rude, not offering a receipt on payment. Id check your receipt and your order contents.
The best place to eat out in town!! Lovely family run team, so welcoming, and the food is amazing and authentic! Keep up the good work guys!
This is a great Indian restaurant in Beaconsfield. The restaurant is immaculately clean, staff are super polite in what appears to be a more formal type of restaurant. The food tastes good but there is stiff competition in this area with Indian restaurant. I would certainly consider going back if I was in the area.
Excellent food ,1st class staff
Massive menu. Lovely food, slightly above average cost.
Great restaurant good service great staff and very very nice food
Excellent food, attentive and friendly staff.
such a good place
Good service and food
Great food and service, a little overpriced
Only popped in for a takeaway back from the pubs for my mothers birthday and kindly treated my mum to a gin and tonic while we waited Excellent food!!!
Food was nice.
Fantastic opportunity four real good food Starff work so hard to give you experience foods and really enjoyed our vist. We will go back again asap
A fabulous welcoming me everytime and food quality is fantastic
Best Tandoori around. Great chef and great food. Very friendly staff to boot!
Lovely restaurant, friendly staff, excellent food.
Good food paired with lovely service, this is a place we have returned to for a meal with friends several times.
Expensive but mediocre tasting food at best. The service was very good though.
Check your order before you pay. Check your order before the delivery driver leaves. Ask for your receipt Check your receipt to make sure the correct amount was charged. This place has gone downhill and has now resorted to charging for food you don t order and then refuse to refund you with a comment of we will take it off your next order . However when you phone up to order another time they have conveniently forgotten about the offer of discounting your food. I call this theft and will never use these thieves again. Our order came and there was no meat samosa starter but there was a mixed starter. Ok I could live with that so checked the bill to see if we had been charged for meat samosa...nope, charged for a mixed starter. I order meat samosa every time so not my error. Ok I thought not bad but they had forgotten the chicken biriyani but had charged me for it. Then noticed there was no mango chutney and only 4 popadom s not 5 yet, yes you guessed it, we had been charged for 5. This should of been straight forward. Call up and either get a refund and the missing items sent. We phoned up and they apologised and said they would refund the over charged items, ie the mixed starter because it was not what I ordered and they would take the value of the biriyani etc off the next order. I accepted this as I didn t want to wait another hour for the missing items to be delivered. I still haven t received a refund and we phoned up just now and was told there is no note of us being promised a discount and I must be mistaken. They also denied any knowledge of the refund not being auctioned and asked for proof????? Seriously awful practise and just outright theft. I can t stop you going as there are some great reviews but I URGE you to check the order and money. Please don t let these crooks take any more than they should. Why not try Jai-Ho or Subdarbens as they are not only cheaper but fantastic food and a great hygiene rating. Adam
Went to this restaurant for a takeaway as the food used to be good.I have been to many restaurants and this is by far one of the worst. The food has definitely gone down hill.We will not be returning. The old Bengal around the corner has much better food.
Fantastic place booked 5 mins before turning up. The food service was brilliant and they kept the food.
Food and drinks are good, plentiful and great service.
Food ok but a bit cold and service slow. Had to wait 20mins for a drink!
Fantastic food, awesome service, friendly staff. My best meal in Beaconsfield! Loved it! Thank you, Cindy - Cape Town, South Africa
Very nice. Excellant service and food.
One of the best Indian restaurants around being great value with great service from the team. They will also deliver and its our go to Indian. Would certainly recommend.
I have been here once. The food was good and service also good.
The best quality food with outstanding customer service! My favourite place to eat!!! :)
Food is average quantity not great.. Staff should have a better manner
Excellent, great food, great service, ill drive past 4 other Indian resturants to get here. Came with a party of 20, thry dealt with all of us in one, no issue.
It was our 2nd visit. Staff were extremely amicable. Food was delicious. We had a wonderful time . We do recommend this and hopefully will pop in there soon.
Friendly polite service, pretty grim interiors, poor value because food is average but expensive.
Lovely place, delicious food, best staff in town. Ask for the special with the white sauce. Its so delightful.
Basmatti truly is one of our favourites. Our family have had many celebrations there and every time we get first class service and beautiful tasting food. We have sampled many of the dishes and find them packed with flavour and cooked to perfection. If you havent been yet - its a must!!!!
So incredibly disappointed with Basmati for awful service delivering a takeaway to us. They waited an hour before deciding that our house was too far to deliver, when we pointed out that they had delivered here several times and that it was nowhere near 4 miles away (less than 2 miles) the story then changed. Apparently now the delivery driver was ill and his car wasnt working. Then then had the absolute cheek to ask us to pay for a taxi to deliver our meal to us. We would have just cancelled the order, but they had already charged our card. We will never use them again and Id recommend avoiding at all costs if you actually want your food to turn up.
Excellent food and the staff are very nice
Great food and service.
Been going to Basmati since it opened. Wonderful food and first class service. Highly recommend.
Very good service, romantic area and lots more
We have been coming here ever since Basmati opened. Always leaving very satisfied. Occasionally pop in for a quick lunch, just sharing 5 or 6 starters between the two of us.
