6a Burkes Parade, Beaconsfield HP9 1NN, United Kingdom
Shabby-chic cafe with breakfasts, lunches and diminutive cakes in an opulent, baroque dining room.
Passing through I was looking for good coffee and good brunch food - this ticked all the boxes, really well cooked food from a very tempting menu and all served with a smile
Delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff! I often come for brunch and/or coffee but have also had takeaway salads from here and they couldn’t be more flavoursome!
As expats, this was a recommendation, and all I can say is.... WOW! This was quite possibly the best breakfast I've ever had! The service, the staff and cafe/restaurant was bang on. Staff knew the menu well, so recommendations was easy (and nostalgic). A must if you're in the area, and if opportunity presents itself, we'll definitely be back!
Met up with my oldest friend. Something we rarely get to do so it was important to find a nice place to meet. Glad I made a reservation as it is very popular. Food was perfect, service was great and a nice ambience. Had a lovely time. We recommend The Cape.
I ordered a large salad for an external event (chargrilled veg with feta) and the Cape did a fantastic job. It was easy to order and was very delicious. Also, great breakfast - the seeded bread is delicious!
Lovely decor/interior which makes a cozy atmosphere. Such high quality foods and very appetizing. Have been several times and would definitely return in the future. Can get very busy - so I would recommend booking a table in advance (if on busy days - like the weekends)
Very beautiful place With style High quality food We had the cesar sandwich And the breakfast with potatoes Rostie salmon avocado poached eggs Delicious The teas are loose leafs. All served in nice pots My husband had the chocolate pastry cake... amazing... try it if available You won't regret it We also bought their home made cape bread to take home. Very very good bread They make it fresh every day 😊😊😊😊🥳
Nice place. Service is a bit slow and breakfast portions a bit small (at least for me!) Given this was their premium breakfast. A hash brown or fried bread would have been good. But nice all the same and reasonably priced.
Dropped in for breakfast and I wasn t disappointed. Very nice.
Fantastic place for breakfast!
Absolutely outstanding. Wonderful food freshly prepared from exquisite produce. The service is also top-notch. Thank you for a fabulous dining experience.
We waited too long for two cappuccinos. The drinks were extremely hot, so the the milk tasted bad.
Great food and service..... been going here for a few years now and never dissapointed, although I do order the same thing (The Mandela) everytime I visit!
Such a great place Pippa & her team are just the best Food is fresh, you can see that they use quality ingredients Knicks spots off anything else for miles around. It s our go to place whenever we visit Beaconsfield, the best coffee ever . Advisable to book to avoid disappointment Food
Yummy breakfast - Jan 2024
Tastes good but it should do for the price. By the way.. what sort of restaurant fails to mention its prices on its own menu? Sus and fishy. Beware
I came here for lunch with my colleagues and other than the cold breeze when the door opened (we were put on the only free big table at the front), I couldnt fault it. The food was amazing, and the service was quick and friendly. Its Beaconsfield, so its an expensive lunch out, but its worth it due to the quality of the food
Staff always so friendly. Would recommend!
What an amazing place to sit and relax having a wonderful South African meal.
Jane was our waitress and she made my whole dining experience wonderful - the food was excellent, highly recommend the opens chicken sandwich.. If oyu like coriander!!
Very good. Just popped in for coffee and cake, good choice, great quality and good value. Menu looked exciting, clearly popular as lots of tables reserved for lunch. Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free cakes plus non dairy milks available.
Our favourite place for breakfast Amazing service and delicious food. The best eggs Benedict Food : 5/5
Very nice food and lovely lady serving the food. Highly recommend.
Lovely fresh food - the salads in particular are super. Attentive service. Lots of happy customers!
We only had a quick cappuccino here but it was the best we have had. The food serviced to other diners looked and smelt beautiful. The staff were very friendly.
Great breakfast, amazing staff will definitely be back
The best toasted sandwich I have ever eaten. Great service and good value.
My favourite breakfast spot!
What a find! Best breakfast I ve had in ages. Amazing food & service and super clean. Great attention to detail. Wonderful
We have been here twice for lunch now. It is a little haven! Such a relaxed atmosphere but great service, friendly people and delicious food. Highly recommend.
Popped in for a quick family lunch. Amazing food, lovely busy cafe but the reason I have given a negative star rating is the one particular staff member - the lady who greeted us, had a very rude attitude - not sure if it was towards us in particular or if she had a bad day. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until we had asked for the bill - and she flung the bill at our table, leaving us all very startled! So, I m not very sure if I will be going back again as it s left a bad taste.
Absolutely superb.
Visited with a friend. We had not booked, but did not have to wait long for a table. Food good, staff friendly and efficient
Hidden gem ! Great fresh food. Had the all day breakfast scrambled eggs! Such great flavors. The service was great. And the hot sauce they gave was just superb. Got a bottle to take home as well. Had the chocolate brioche and now I m not any other chick ate brioche other than that one. Haha
Dropped in for coffee and cake about half an hour before it closed. Good coffee and choice of cake, nice atmosphere, friendly efficient service.
Refused visit with a Pram! After visiting The Cape for over 2 years without a child the visits were acceptable. With a visit today 04/11/23 they have refused us, didn t ask for our booking, they just just no sorry not with a pram. Disgusting behaviour.
Tried twice to come into this cafe. As a lone customer, I know this is difficult for cafes. However on both occasions I have been met with the same phrase , bear with me I need to clear some tables. I am working so time is of the essence. Sorry, I wont be trying a third time.
I visited at the weekend with my two young daughters and even though we hadn t booked, they managed to find us a table despite the fact it was really busy. It was a very friendly atmosphere and the food was exemplary. My girls were very well attended to by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. At the end of the meal, our favourite part was choosing from a wide selection of home-made cakes and deserts which tasted truly delicious. I will certainly be visiting again.
The Cape is brilliant. We have breakfast there once a week with our toddler. They are always accommodating, even when it s busy and we don t have a booking. Our toddler, who has been going there since he was 1 week old, loves his full English breakfast! Delicious food, great atmosphere, great for families.
Not very friendly for children! Have been without children and liked it, however please don t bring your children here unless they are perfectly behaved. My son is 3, and was super excited to be going for breakfast with mummy on a weekday. He was sitting down in his seat, but was talking loudly and giggling. There was only one other table occupied (2 guests) in the entire place as it was so early in the morning, but the waitress still came and asked us to keep it down. So my advice would he don t go unless you can keep the children quiet. PS have been many times to Fego and the Beech house with my children and have never felt anything but welcome, even if they are not always super quiet.
Been going to The Cape for some time and can always rely on a warm welcome coupled with the best breakfast and lunch B field has to offer. There are a couple of reviews here ( A complaint when a member of staff politely asked if a Mother encouraging her child to scream with delight, to be mindful of other guests, I was one of them ) or a tirade from The Head of Sales ( bet he s fun at dinner parties) bemoaning the lack of free WiFi. My advice to them is please, please go somewhere else. For the rest of us locals we re happy to return again and again, oh and book at weekends,it gets very popular for a reason!
Delicious food, great friendly service.
We stumbled across this cafe while visiting Beaconsfield and the food was amazing, the French toast was as good as the ones you get in Canada. The service was top notch even though it was a busy restaurant. Highly recommend
Every time we visit Beaconsfield we think of The Cape. The food is excellent and the staff friendly - our favourites are Malay (prawn salad) and South Easter (chicken noodle salad). They look and taste amazing! Booking advised!
Best breakfast in the area. Great eggs, sensational bacon. Staff are excellent . Our first this morning, already looking forward to our next
Always good for coffee / breakfast / lunch / cake.
Very popular cafe, great coffee and delicious cake attentive and friendly service
Popped in here today after a Model Village visit, nice lunch, but I did feel it was slightly overpriced. However I would go again.
We have been disappointed at the Beaconsfield Costa and the Beech House is nice but the cups are small. We havent been in here for years, so pleased it was nice and all worked well.
Excellent brunch. Fresh ingredients, freshly cooked. Friendly efficient service. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent breakfast selection.
Had a fabulous slap up classic English breakfast. Top class. I bought their traditional bread and will soon be back
Absolutely lovely spot to eat. Lovely warm welcome. Great and interesting menu and the food is really tasty! Will be back
A little gem in Beaconsfield. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food & coffee delicious.
Absolutely lovely place, reliably good on every level. I frequently visit despite the many alternatives. This is the best.
Very good customer service and great tasting food
Phenomenal quality and great service - consistently good and we have been eating at The Cape for 2 years!
Delightful hidden gem just 5 mins from the motorway. We will be making a return next time we travel down to Henley from Suffolk!! Service was amazing and the food was delicious.
Great food - a bit cold
The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good, only 1 problem, I realise The Cape isnt a bar, but with its self prclaimed South African roots it should have at least 1 South African beer. But other than that it was an enjoyable meal. We will go back again
Definitely the breakfast heart of Beaconsfield!
Just had a great breakfast, the bread was so good we bought a loaf to take home and staff are fantastic, definitely recommend this place.
Great food and service
Just had an amazing meal here. Quiche with a choice of 3 salads which were all delicious. Hubby had the full English Breakfast which was fresh and delicious. Staff were all so friendly and welcoming. Definitely highly recommend a visit.
Best Breakfast & Coffee Ive had ever & I am really picky about my food & especially my Coffee. Staff were attentive & lovely Highly Recommend the French Toast with Berries, Yoghurt & The Farmers Breakfast Poached eggs were bang on money!
Popped in for a takeaway coffee. Very tasty and the server was very friendly and professional. Looking forward to visiting for a sit-in meal in the near future.
Great service and lovely fresh food
Superb food, superb service, what more needs to be said.
Good service. Great food
We had lunch with relatives and we were all really impresses. The food was excellent, service was friendly and efficient. The menu was quite varied with a mix of foods, obviously including African dishes which was a pleasant change for us. The cost seemed quite reasonable so all in all a very pleasant experience. We would definitely go again.
We went here for lunch on Wednesday, the food was amazing, super fast and friendly service - would definitely return next time we visit Beaconsfield :)
Very average coffee, but ok place. Wouldnt go again unfortunately.
The Cape today was fab, great food and company
Varied breakfast menu with unusual choices as well as more standard options. Vegan and gluten free options. Individual coffee carafes and pots of tea. Beautifully presented food and friendly staff.
Cracker little Saffa restuarant! Toast (cake) with Cumberland pork sausage for brekkie!! Yum
The Artisan Café is a familiar sight along the average high street these days. The Cape, however, is special. Truly unique in service and product where the handcrafted offering is evident in both food and drink. Whether you re stopping by for a quick coffee or relaxed breakfast, you won t be disappointed.
Fantastic! Great food and staff
Lovely, relaxed lunch with a wide ranging menu.
This place was amazing, i felt very welcomed, the food was great, staff were amazing
Lovely place, great Ruben sandwich, and coffee ...took home some carrot cake and vegan chocolate and cocont cake too...which was delicious.
Beautiful cafe .. stylish decor takes you away from it all. More vegan options please, like vegetarian sausages with vegetarian breakfast..etc then it would be 5 out 5!! Also vegan without eggs!! Thanks!
Popped in for a coffee and a chance to catch up on some emails in between meetings and enjoyed one of the best mochas that I have had in a long time. Super-friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere! Will definitely be scheduling meetings here in future.
Stopped in for dinner after seeing it from the outside. Food and service was amazing, will definitely be back.
Lovely food. Staff are nice too.
Wonderful catering at very short notice last weekend. Canapes, charcuterie and cheese platters as well as delicious bite-size desserts; all delivered on time to our door at 6pm. Tasted scrumptious and elegantly presented.
The Cape catered a garden party for us last week. A South African Brai BBQ with wonderful accompaniments including some of the excellent salads etc available in the restaurant ( veggie option also catered for). We opted for platters rather than canapés - these were exceptional and portion size was very generous - there was plenty of food. Set up (on a rainy, windy morning which fortunately turned sunny) was highly efficient, reflecting the experience of the team in coping with different situations. Service during the party was exemplary, friendly, relaxed knowledgeable staff and all our guests commented on the outstanding quality of the food. Clear up at the end was equally efficient leaving us with very little to do. Certainly the way to host stress-free , high quality events. Highly recommended.
Great food; great service. A lovely evening. Reasonable price. 5 stars well deserved.
We went for breakfast, overpriced and over rated. A little 5 breakfast comes with four items won t be returning.
I went in for the first time this morning to have breakfast. The food was just amazing and their menu is very unique. Their desserts?? Just delicious ! Nice and relaxed atmosphere. Recommend if you are around Beaconsfield area!
Good vibes, good service and very friendly staff. Worth a visit if youre ever in the area.
Always buzzing and very busy. Fresh tasty salads and naughty cakes. The staff are always very kind and helpful. Just wish it was a little larger, as so popular! Great for lunches and brunches
Great place for food. Evening restaurant is lovely. Chocolate pastry cake is amazing if not a heart attack on a plate!
Nice staff but the pastries are bought in and are a bit average. They make flat whites the size of a latte so make sure you oversee the making of it if you don t want your flat white in a bucket. Nice coffee though.
Poor service for takeaway customers pretty much ignored for 6mins wasnt offered a seat to wait at like usual. My food choice sold to someone else even though I ordered first. Then server was on the phone whilst instructing me to pay. Left quite deflated actually because my last experience was friendly.
The meal was excellent as were the hosts who made it a great evening and we look forward to returning.
Delightful young staff and the best quiche I have ever eaten in my life. Nuff said!
Utterly delicious deli salads and fishcake.
Fantastic quality food and a great wine list with a South African twist. One of the top places to eat in the area
Visited here yesterday as I had some time between appointments and this seemed like a good option for brunch. Ordered a flat white coffee and the Eggs Royale. Coffee was served quickly and was very good and in a decent sized cup too. Food followed soon after, good presentation, well cooked and very tasty. Variety of tables and chairs and the place has a very comfortable and cosy feeling. Seems like a popular place too as it was very busy. One small negative would be that no one asked if my food was okay at any point.
Great coffee and breakfasts
Great food
Popped in on a Saturday morning and had a lovely slice of cake. Good selection, very hard to choose!
The best egg florentine and tuna met toast as well as the granola in town!
Unique and tasty South African inspired selection, good atmosphere, nice (but very busy) staff.
My favourite place for brunch in Beaconsfield. Delicious food, good sized portions, friendly and helpful staff. Must try them for dinner sometime.
Nice coffee and atmosphere
What a lovely little cafe. Fantastic freshly cooked food. Thank you.
Very overrated, small & expensive portions and rude waitresses
We had a superb meal on Saturday night. Everything was first class from the initial greeting, the ambience and the food. Will definitely be going back. Thank you
Superb place that does a perfect brunch. Top class with a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended...
Friendly staff, fantastic coffee and what a great menu.. Will come here again
Great food, unique menu, good service and atmosphere.
One.of my favourite places to eat in Beaconsfield. Great breakfast and.lunch menu. I havent tried dinner there as yet.
Just popped in on the way to looking at a plastering job with my husband. Had latte coffee and a cheese and ham toastie. Simple but enjoyed it immensely. Fab ingredients. Lovely place and people.
Came here for Sunday breakfast, the food was amazing and the staff very helpful. I had the big 5 breakfast with the borewors
This is a south african restaurant, which has a steak based menu with a handful of Other dishes. Really nice, go
Friendly and welcoming. A great place for breakfast with good choices and reasonable prices.
perfect lunch, food was fantastic as were the staff a must if in area
Great food, great staff. Best cafe in Beaconsfield I think.
Weve been here a couple of times now for evening meals and the common theme has been friendly staff and good quality food. On our last visit I was disappointed that I was unable to have springbok steak and the waiter ordered the wrong starter for my wife, however this was quickly resolved and more than made up for by the friendly waiting staff.
Having read the negative reviews about service I kind of agree and disagree. I actually think the owner is really lovely if a bit of a control freak, but essentially she is a Human Being, which is sadly rare these days. But yes the rest of the staff are brain-dead, cant get basic custom orders right, and dont know how to cope with their own error. Aside from that, the food is actually pretty good. Sandwiches to take out are not so cheap but they are very, very good indeed.
We have been using this cafe for many years now and it has never disappointed. The food is fresh and exciting with a varied choice and definitely the best flapjacks in Beaconsfield!
Superb place for a quick bite to eat for lunch that is just that little bit more. Lovely!
As I write I am sitting in Costa Coffee drinking average coffee, with a decidedly average breakfast roll doing what thousands of professional do up and down the country, using something called wifi to work. Infact thereare 5 other people doing the same as me in here. It came in during the 90s....you may remember it ;) The reason I am here is because I could not abide to spend my money in The Cape. I really wanted to eat in The Cape. The menu looks good, the ambiance is quite nice and I have eaten there once with a colleague which was a decent experience, aside from a feeling of arrogance given off by a lady who was obviously the owner. No worries I thought. So I walked past Costa and went to the Cape for my first attempt. Attempt 1) Q Hello, before I sit down do you have Wifi.... A No I am sorry Now I run a national sales team on the road. I have been doing this or similar for 20 years. I still go to the same cafes after 20 years when I am in a particulare town. My average spend is £10-£15. Although I never cease to be amazed by the numbskulldness of many small cafe owners who do not invest in wifi , I expected a business like the cape to be beyond that....but no. Ok so I leave and walk towards Costa, then I start justifying...hmmm I dont HAVE to go online for an hour or so. I could just do some presentation stuff....Ok lets go back to the Cape. Attempt 2) I walk in. Hi again.I have changed my mind and decided to knock Costa on the head to get some decent food. Can I see the breakfast menu please...............waitress Do you want a seat ...me maybe but I would like to see the breakfast menu please....waitress explains a special deal including tea for £5. I like the look of this but notice on their main menu that they offer bacon seperately on a similar breakfast for 95p extra. Great I say...I would like the Paoched eggs £5 deal with an extra slice of bacon which I am hapy to pay extra for Waitress Sorry I cant do that.....(me looking at her incredulously) I am sorry?...her I cant do that...me But I am willing to pay extra... cant do it with that deal....I am willing to pay extra, I dont understand....you cant have extra bacon with that deal...Even if I pay for it?..(Now dumbstruck and starting to realiseI have made a mistake coming back)......Then she finally hits me with the reason...I am not allowed to do that. Now it all finally slots into place...the air of arrogance last time I visited...the lack of wifi (not for reasons of dacorum because there were 2 people on their mobile phones when I was there).....the 1970s Little Chef style beauraucracy. The owner(s) are control freaks who believe it is an honour for you to spend your money at their establishment. This is confirmed to me when I see that there is no email address on the website...otherwise I would not be posting this review. If fact why am I posting this review?? If the owners see it I am not expectant of a humble, considered period of reflection on how they can improve.....I think I posted this because businesses like the Cape operate throughout the UK and if anyone operating a similar business or maybe starting up reads this, perhaps they will have the good grace and sense to take notice. 1. Get wifi 2. Be Flexible...let the customer have some power 3. Post an email address on your website then you would get less reviews like this 4. Listen to you customers...not your ego
Food was very good
