The Restaurant at Peninsula Ridge offers a fun, casual fine dining experience. Our seasonal menus feature fresh, local foods paired with a selection of our wines. The restaurant has 65 seats and provides an intimate fine dining experience. Our popular outdoor patio also offers magnificent views of the Niagara Escarpment, the surrounding vineyards and Lake Ontario. The Restaurant at Peninsula Ridge is located in the William D. Kitchen house, the red brick Victorian manor that has become synonymous with our winery and was meticulously restored in 2000. Built in 1885 in the Queen Anne style by Grimsby architect Frank Hill, the house was recently declared as an historic site under the Ontario Heritage Act for its historical and architectural
It's rare that we love everything from beginning to end. The Restaurant at Peninsula Ridge was a very pleasant surprise. Don't waste time reading reviews, just make a reservation and get there so you can see for yourself. A truly fantastic experience and a magical setting.
“My spouse and I celebrated our 31-year anniversary at this amazing restaurant, and we couldn’t have picked a better place! The atmosphere and ambiance were perfect for the occasion, making our evening feel truly special. The service was outstanding—attentive and friendly. The food was delicious, and every dish was prepared to perfection. Highly recommend for any special occasion or even just a great night out!”
Incredible place. Had the interior dining room all to ourselves. Great food and service. Can't wait to come back 😁.
Food is ok but I would expect more when you have an excellent environment and service here. The Mexican soup is great, but 2 main dishes are disappointed. Tuna taco is over seasoned, I can’t taste any tuna. Pasta sauce is not rich, no surprise. Service is great and price is reasonable.
Peninsula Ridge has upped their game. We enjoyed our meal on the deck. It was a wonderful day, bright blue skies and a warm sun. We had the mussels in Smoked Tomato Broth/Capers/Butter/Bruschetta which were to die for. We needed to order extra orders of bread to soak up the broth. It was so good. We also had the Peninsula Ridge Antipasto Platter. Also great. The server recommended the 2021 Cabernet Rosé which paired great with the mussels, the platter and the day. To finish it all up we had cappuccinos and the Decadent Chocolate Truffle Cake. Awesome. Already dreaming about our next visit.
Gorgeous patio view over the vineyards. Friendly service and great menu. Soup, salad, mussels, duck eggs benny, creme brulee dessert - couldn't choose so we got it all! I thoroughly enjoyed the ice wine martini too! Reservation recommended!
3.8/5 The ambiance is great for a weekend lunch or brunch. It’s a quiet space with comfy chairs and ample light. There’s also plenty of patio space around the building for when the weather is warmer. As for the food, it was decent but nothing special, unfortunately. We tried the Prime Rib Burger and the Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Ciabatta. The burger was all right. I would have preferred more toppings for texture but it was a decent sandwich. The wedges on the side were not hot and quite chewy so I could have passed on those. The chicken sandwich was a whole fried chicken breast, fresh out of the frier. This was filling and flavourful. The ingredients they use here are very fresh, so that we appreciated. One thing we noticed was the absence of our server. Although very nice, she was quite busy with minimal time to attend to us. Overall, it was an okay experience. We’ve been here for dinner and their strip loin was very good, so we may return for that but maybe not for lunch.
Went on Sunday brunch with a reservation. It was raining hence the patio was closed. It's an old building. We ordered mushroom soup, Pizza and Omellette. All 3 were delicious including the complimentary bread and butter. I wanted to order pan seared salmon but it was not available. Service was excellent. Ambience was good as well. It wasn't crowded at all. Definitely will visit again. I wanted to take my dog along as it was my husband's birthday but dog wasn't allowed. I wish next time they allow
We had a 5:30pm reservation for 3 people, pretty close to first seating since they open at 5pm. Was busy but not full, and it looked like they had full staff. Not a great experience at all, and not going to be returning. The view and the platings are beautiful, I will absolutely give them that. So first, the food. 2 main dishes were already out when we sat at 5:30pm, which is outrageous. There was a party of 10 that sat at 5pm and apparently 10 orders total was enough to potentially wipe them of two main courses on a summer Saturday eve? Stone fruit salad was nice and bright, lamb pasta was flavourful but not a lot of meat. Tasty though. The salmon was awful. The skin was still wet and gelly, but the fish was overcooked. The sauce and rice were not seasoned enough, the sauce was too thick for salmon (almost like a hummus texture), and strangely, not enough salt overall. The coffees were so small, too. Served in smaller mugs and they were only filled 2/3 of the way! As for the wine, the tiny bubbles was great, highly recommend, but didnt love their dessert wine. We didnt get to have wine with dinner... they never came back for us to order dinner wine. Now the worst part was the server. They never gave us their name, and rarely checked in on us. And by that I mean, she never came by at all during our dinner to check on us until an hour later, and I had only a few bites of my salmon that I didnt enjoy and she asked if I wanted it boxed. I told her I unfortunately did not enjoy it at all and she said oh, I wish I knew that, I would have had this fixed for you!. Well, if she came by, she would have known. So, in total, it took 2.5 hours to get a main course and a dessert. we didnt get a drink with dinner, and I didnt even start my main course with a drink (it was a coffee and was finished by then). Took over a half hour after we finished dessert for her to come by again with our bill. Im used to fine dining and longer waits for food. This was just terrible service. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options with an upcharge
We were a walk-in on a warm Friday evening. Asked if they had any availability and when the server went back to ask, I could hear (what I assumed to be the owner or manager reply) a resound absolutely! It was busy but we were placed at a great table on the patio. We had never been before, but the food, bubbly, and service were all outstanding. Elegant, but casually relaxed. We will be back!
The soup of the day was great and we also quite enjoyed the eggs Benedict
Stunning location. Great wine, great food. Awesome service.
Did a Sunday brunch and it was terrific. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for wheelchairs to get into the restaurant. Food : 5/5 |
Just go!!! Beautiful grounds. Pretty buildings. Great food and service. On my (multiple repeat button).
This has become a family favourite, especially in the summertime for the beautiful food on their beautiful patio. The last time we were there the food was not as good as the many other times so I am not sure if there has been a change in chefs or staff but we hope on the next visit it will be as great as it was the previous times.
Excellent meal, service and atmosphere Cant wait to go back. Food
I was taken for lunch for my birthday & it was the best. Food was great & large quantities. Beautiful restaurant. I would highly recommend it.
Food was delicious as always. Service is great. Beautiful view of the vineyard and lake.
Very friendly atmosphere, beautiful scenery, amazing menu, I was pleasantly pleased... I will be returning
This is my husband and my third time at Peninsula Ridge for the surf and turf dinner. Each time the lobster was done to perfection, not rubbery or chewy, and the steaks came out as requested mine medium rare, and my husband s medium. Served on top of the smoothest mashed potatoes ever. The selections of the desserts were also very good And their Caesar salad Was very good. The flavour of crème brûlée the evening we went was chocolate I ordered it and I didn t find it to my liking and was offered another free dessert in place of it. I declined as pI was too full to eat anymore. We highly recommend eating at this lovely Restaurant Set an an old farm style home. You can t go wrong here the service was excellent the chef excellent, and the decor was homie. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp at the back that leads to a side door.
It is cute but STRONG smell of old house kills everything. Right at the front it stops you.
Amazing food and beautiful atmosphere. Alyssa was our server and she was great!
We had the most lovely dinner here. A beautiful place to spend the evening, the service was above and beyond, and the food was incredible. Thank you for a great night out.
Great in the summer on the patio, but also amazing for an indoor winter brunch.
Had an amazing dinner with our Family! Our server was amazing and the Chef bang on! Will definitely go back
Its in a beautiful Victorian house in a gorgeous location with views down across the lake. The staff were lovely and attentive (Stephanie is the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 3!). We had a perfect table on a postage stamp sized balcony over the front porch - stunning. The appetizer (mussels) and dessert (chocolate cake) were fabulous, but the entrees were underwhelming. If I am paying $60 for a plate it should be spectacular - and it just wasnt. Hubby ordered steak med rare and it came well, we returned it and got back medium but we just needed to eat so....My halibut was cooked perfectly but was served on a bed of rice that was bland and looked like it had frozen carrot squares (?!). Not what we expected from the kitchen based on previous visits.
Very beautiful place we loved it
The best fish Ive had in my life in a calm romantic setting. Service was great as well.
Fine dining. Great food and wine in a lovely setting especially when nice enough to sit outside on their terrace.
Excellent dining experience
Such a great spot! Fantastic food, great views, and service was spot on.
Beautiful location. Food not as snazzy as other nearby wineries but very good. Service was a little disjointed. No need for a tuxedo to eat the food!
Lovely setting, great food and fantastic staff/services. Cant find any problems with my lunch.
We weren t offered a lunch menu so ordered from the limited brunch menu. We waited for more than an hour to be served. Generally the food was sub standard. The Caesar s Salad consisted of four uncut/whole lettuce leaves with dressing dribbled on them. There was one toasted crisp bread. Never have we eaten such a Caesar s Salad anywhere! We were also told by the server, this is fine dining ! We have eaten many times at Peninsula Ridge restaurant, and service and food have been excellent but today we were greatly disappointed with our experience. To crown it all, one of the servers rolled back the awning while we were waiting for the rain to stop.
Beautiful place amazing food
We had a delicious lunch. Mussels were excellent in the peninsula ridge reisling wine sauce. The hamburger was juicey and perfectly cooked. The charcuterie board was delicious but a bit disappointing. It was for two but the variety was bland. Two types of salami, 2 cheeses, crackers and olives. I would have liked to have seen some patte or something different that I myself wouldnt have. Sorry but I make a better board at home. The staff was amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful. The board didnt spoil it for us. Still very tasty. After we had an ice wine martini. Yummy but I should have asked for ice. And the chocolate cake we shared was so light and delicious. We ate inside which was very comfortable but they do have a lovely patio. Highly recommend this restaurant in grimsby.
Its not every day you get to dine in a Victorian Estate Despite having a late sitting, we were able to secure a lovely private spot in the front of the restaunt. The service was incredibly attentive and speedy. Did feel like we were the only pair in the restaurant. The Steamed PEI Mussels were a great starter to share - but beware on filling up with coupled bread! The mains were delicious as well having both the Fresh Canadian Pan Seared Halibut as well as the Wagyu Beef Burger. This all paired exceptionally well with the Peninsula Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Such an incredible assortment of tastes and flavours. 10/10 would highly recommend
We dined at PR taking advantage of the Surf & Turf Special. The food was delicious! Great job to the Chef and his staff. Unfortunately we left disappointed and the food was overshadowed by the terrible table service throughout the evening. From the slow service to the server walking away from our table while answering my question regarding the dessert options. I don t normally post a review but this experience just had to be expressed after paying what we paid for a disappointing evening. As much as the food was delicious all four of us agreed we would never go back.
Meal was great and reasonably priced. Staff was personable and attentive.
Went for the surf and turf special. Just delicious.
We went for the surf and turf special to celebrate our anniversary. Location is great, it also has a winery for tasting during the day. You will definitely not be disappointed.
Very nice
We dined here yesterday on a rainy Sunday with a couple of friends. We had a lovely table in the bay window overlooking the vineyards. The seats are comfortable (always important for a leisurely meal). We had the parsnip soup which was recommended by our server and it was fantastic. Creamy, perfect temperature with lots of flavour. My husband had the omelette which was generous in the portion but he said it lacked flavour and was a bit bland. I had the ancho crusted salmon at 28 dollars which came with rice and no vegetable. The rice was a bit like fried rice with tiny bits of veggies in it. The salmon serving was very small and thin and the crusted seasoning had a bit of an odd flavour with a spice I couldn t quite place and didn t enjoy it, but it was cooked correctly. Our friends had the apple salad with chicken nothing fancy there but she said it was fine. Our other friend had the breakfast skillet and enjoyed that. For dessert we had the mocha crème brûlée which was the perfect size, delicious and a nice compliment to the meal. My friend had the pumpkin gingerbread cake which was beautifully presented but very generous portion ( two could share) Their wine is a particular favourite for me ( Sauvignon blanc) we spent 212 tax and 20 percent tip in which included two appetizer soups, two entrees two wine each, one dessert and two coffees (latte and cappuccino. Waitress was lovely but it was a bit of a delay ordering drinks on arrival and had to be prompted to bring bread. There was only one other table to serve however upon departure there were people seated on the patio out back so perhaps she was the only server. Overall nice place to dine. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant of that calibre. I gave the food overall a 3 due to the main courses.
A big fan of this restaurant. They had some bumps and things were not great at end of season last year. BUT, they are back with great menus and 2 new chefs. Ate there last night. Awesome
Things have changed at the restaurant this year - new menu. Not the same quality.
Thank you to the whole team at Peninsula Ridge for taking such good care of us. The food was delicious and the whole day was well organized and very enjoyable. Thanks especially to Laura for your dedication to planning the day and making sure we got home safe!
Birthday Dinner today with my longtime friends Kim and Debra was absolutely outstanding! Lauren the perfect hostess and her staff were awesome The food was Amazing! Scallops Caesar salad Gnocchi lemon meringue dessert Perfect!!!
Service, views at this venue are wonderful. Disappointment was that the menu online was totally different to menu presented at the restaurant. Such a total discrepancy makes it difficult for a person who has expected completely different offerings to be faced by options they may not want. Please update the online menu. Four of us were unhappy about this.
We were there for the Graze the Bench. Ended here, Music and environment where brilliantly eclectic. Absolutely awesome. Now we have to go there on a normal night for a normal dinner :)
Visited for brunch and the food was absolutely delicious! Staff was very friendly, they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Highly recommended.
Vegetarian options: Eggplant parmesan and a few others were first class citizens, not afterthoughts Parking: Tons of parking Kid-friendliness: Handled kids very well
Another fantastic meal , this place never disappoints , highly recommend.
Charcuterie board was perfect for 3 people. Went for a light lunch/snack before winery hopping
Eating here was one of our best dining experiences in years, hands down. Shamefully, in all our years in Niagara we had had Peninsula Ridge wines and been to the shop but never dined in at the restaurant. Were now kicking ourselves we waited so long. Our server Diana was one of the best servers weve had at any restaurant anywhere, ever. She has top-notch professionalism and knows exactly when to approach the table, and notices all the little things. Shes genuine from the moment you talk with her and by the end of the meal it felt like we had made a new friend. The supporting staff who came to the table were also very polite and knew the little touches that make an experience great (like knowing who ordered what entrée, instead of food auctioning once they get to the table). The food was incredible. I had the seafood pasta with lobster cream sauce, which was loaded with seafood and was the perfect portion size, enough to leave full but not loaded to the point of falling off the plate. My wife had the catch of the day, which was an arctic char that was cooked to perfection. We also had the antipasto platter an an appetizer, which had a selection of delicious salami and cheeses served with dijon and grape jam. We ordered a bottle of the Peninsula Ridge Riesling Sparkling which was also tasty (a nice hint of sweetness without being too sweet), and finished off the meal with the chocolate raspberry tartufo, which was decadent and delicious without being sickly sweet. Everything here was A+, from the serving staff to the ambience to the food. We definitely wont be waiting a long time to return. Thanks, Peninsula Ridge staff, for an amazing experience!
Excellent setting in the heart of wine country. The food is outstanding and its easy to see how this rates in the Top 100 in Canada. We always treat ourselves to this experience when in the area.
Service was slow and we got attitude. We were told if we did leave the patio by 4 we would have to be moved inside because there was a wedding that day. We had reservations we should of been told that when we called. The food was good and the veiw was wonderful
Wheelchair accessibility: Seen the wheelchair icon on a restroom door
The wine selection was great, who knew that was the highlight. We ordered the Peninsula Ridge Antipasto Platter for two. The cheese seemed processed, there were 2 pieces of salami. These salamis also seemed processed and locally bought at No Frills. I would comment on the mains, but we decided not to take a chance. The room we were escorted to was 15 degrees, way to cold for a comfortable dining experience. I cannot express how disapointed we were.
Had a lovely charcuterie board and enjoyed the view! Wine flights are always a must.
Winery is amazing, restaurant staff and customer service excellent however restaurant food with new chefs not my taste at all. Strange food combinations sweet with salty and experimental. Being into food I am very disappointed especially $45 for foods that are not worth even $20
We went for fathers day lunch. I had the burger and it was great. Im normally a guy who likes traditional toppings however I decided to try this. It was VERY good, the bone marrow jam on the burger was delicious. I loved the sweet and salty combination on this burger. My gf had the shrimp roll which was plated very nicely and she said it was fabulous .Great atmosphere, very accomadating staff. I recommend you give them a visit.
Outstanding food with service and view to match! well done, keep it up!
Hats off to the new chief Dominic DiBartolomeo. Thank you for an amazing meal with a breath taking view. We had the sunset on our right and a full moon rising on our left all the while overlooking the beautiful vineyard. Will definitely return. I had the most amazing soup of the day and the beef tenderloin. 10/10 for both.
I took my sister there to celebrate her birthday. VERY DISAPPOINTED! Menu was extremely limited. The food we had was not very good but not only that, they left the grilled bread off of the charcuterie board. The server went to get some bread but it took 10 minutes to bring it to us. If you eat here make sure you have lunch before you go. They said the food has changed because of a new chef. Bring the old chef back!
This spot on the bench is amazing. The views, the staff, the food. All of it! We started with a tasting before our lunch reservation. The knowledgeable staff were wonderful, providing all the information on the different wines we had selected to try. Then when we entered the restaurant, which is in a large, old turn of the century home, we were treated like royalty. Our server, Matthew, was attentive and knowledgeable as well as very friendly. We enjoyed the soup of the day, which was a potato and leek with bacon. We also had the Gnocchi and the charcuterie board. We paired an un-oaked white Chardonnay with lunch. All was incredible. Thanks for the lovely time.
Perfect! Food, Wines, Decor, Friendly Professional Staff.
Impromptu lunch and my boyfriend and I were blown away. Food and service amazing. Definitely coming back
Beautiful venue, courteous and knowledgeable staff, food was just ok, pasta of the day a bit pricey for what it was. Pretty limited menu.
Delicious food, lovely service and a beautiful venue. What more can you ask for?
The wonderful view, great food and friendly staff. Who could want for anything more.
The entire experience was wonderful. Great food, friendly and thorough staff, can t beat the views. Will definitely go again.
Did the wine store no wine tasting but still 5 stars.
I love this restaurant and the wine Pinot Grigio wine. We had HALIBUT dinners for both of us. Dianna our server is TOP NOTCH. She is always smiling . All your Staff is GREAT . WE only live 10 minutes away . We try to come at least once a week or 2 week. We are ready for the FALL MENU, as we have had everything at least 3 or 4 times. Thanks for the Great food and Service. Jack Levenstadt.
Amazing. Went for a dinner and was blown away, our server was more than knowledgeable about the food and wine menu, made amazing suggestions and was beyond friendly all while following COVID protocol. Will definitely return
Food is amazing and the scenery was very lovely. Service is ok. We loved the duck dish and the butternut squash soup.
Visited this restaurant a few days back. Had a wonderful dining experience in the patio(a nice weather day). They do have indoor sitting as well. Nice ambiance and great outdoor views with surrounding vineyards. The food and wine tasted great! We ordered a risotto, some salads and pizza along with some wine. Everything was perfect!
Antipasto plate ok. Wine ok. Service was excellent
Amazing food and incredible service (especially Tracy!) We will be back for that view and awesome trout and risotto again!
Food was great. Great location. Hours of operation could use some help. Every time we get the urge to go, they seem to be closed...
Great food beautiful views
Fantastic. Get the Antipasto Platter for appetizer if youre there for dinner. The stuffed chicken is certainly a favourite. Worth the drive from Toronto every time.
Friday date night and this restaurant did not disappoint! The property is incredible as it is surrounded by the vineyards and trees and Lake Ontario in the distance. The building itself was restored to pay tribute to its 1800s appeal, and the gardens around the patio are well taken care of. The food and service matches the setting perfectly. I ordered lamb and she had the tenderloin, but we each had some of both. Played beautifully, and paired with the PR Cabernet Merlot. We also ordered desert which may even have been the highlight of the night! For an unplanned choice of restaurant we scored a big win, and will definitely plan to return soon.
Great service, right down to the wedge under the wonky table leg.
Great food, the patio is beautiful and the service was excellent, especially Anna!!! Well be back!
Ive been to this restaurant twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. Amazing! Outstanding food and ambience and the patio is spectacular!
Honestly, been going to this place for years now. Now, there s a lotta great wineries in the area but, sorry I am a self confessed foodie, not a lot of great knock-it-out-of-the-park-everytime restaurants! This place has never ever disappointed wrt their menu, and the value is outstanding! Staff are always super courteous and down to earth too. The view is to die for. You will not find a better food/winery place in Ontario, esp for the value, promise!!! Don t waste time anywhere else.
$21 appetizer consisted of three small scallops and the $40 steak, requested medium, about 2/3 was medium well and not very tender. During my online reservation request, I stipulated it was a special event and this was reconfirmed several days prior however, nothing was done during our visit. Our previous visit several months ago was very good, and it was disappointing to take out of town friends for dinner and not have a good experience.
Great food and wine. Cozy atmosphere. Scenic view.
Always excellent! Great cheese tray and fabulous wine. Chelsea was a very knowledgeable young lady and served a great glass of wine!
Food is amazing!
I love their food every year. Kids (with iPads) did great as well. Table of 10 + 2 babies and everyone loved their food and enjoyed the lunch. Service was great.
Food was good, arrived hot. Service was decent but nothing special.
Always great, tonight it was outstanding! Great food, service & ambience. Keep up the good work!
We got married here 4 years ago and it was the most wonderful experience. Melanie was our co-ordinator and she made the experience a breeze, no fuss, no aggravation, just splendor! We had the ceremony on property in a very beautiful spot and it started to rain. The staff brought out umbrellas and blankets for the gets which was a total surprise. So thoughtful! You wouldnt find such service anywhere else. The pictures were taken around the winery and it was glorious. Breathtaking! Dinner was at the Coach House which was absolutely outrageous. Our family and friends said it was the best wedding they had ever attended. We frequent the restaurant on a regular basis since the food is divine. Our server Tanya makes our visits so special. Best decision we have ever made was to get married and frequent Peninsula Ridge. Thank you to Melanie and the staff for all you do. You make it so wonderful.
Amazing service, delicious food, beautiful scenery. Highly recommended!
Wonderful food and service, will be back
Great food and service!
Great cuisine, outstanding service, and wonderful ambiance. I highly recommend dining here.
Beautiful ambiance. Knowledgeable staff.
Great time and staff
I cant say enough how nice this place is . the staff are so incredibly friendly and nice . they accommodated us last minute for lunch 5 min before they close and they were so welcoming. the food is insanely good ! the scenery is spectacular. we will definitely come back.
