2150 Point Prim Rd, Belfast, PE C0A 1A0, Canada
Enjoy the island's freshest seafood at our stunning oceanfront location. We feature a wide variety of locally sourced food prepared with imagination and care by our team of chefs.Closed Wednesdays.
Oh myyyy goshhhh! This meal delivered! It was everything and MORE for our very first meal on PEi!! The mussels were out of this world! The lobster roll was hot buttered perfection and the Lobster melt was unbelievable! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look at mussels or lobster or garlic or brie cheese the same way. Point Prim Chowder house - y’all Nailed it!!
What an experience! Love sitting out on the beach with our food and drinks. Be sure to try the chairs for 2 all the way at the end of the deck (place your order and walk around the corner and walk past the tables). Just can't beat the views. We enjoyed the chowder and lobster salad.
We shared oysters that were okay and my wife had the cheesy delight, which was flavourful. I had the seafood chowder and a lobster roll. Unfortunately, the lobster roll was served with bitter lettuce from the heart. Could I have brought it to their attention...absolutely. But should it have been served...absolutely not. It is a very picturesque location.
Seafood chowder and lobster roll were fantastic. Fresh and piping hot. The view is wonderful as well. Ocean breeze and patio umbrella table finish the experience. Make sure you check it out on the way or after the lighthouse.
Wow, this is my absolute favorite restaurant on the island. Everything is so fresh. We started our feast with the chowder, which is made with bacon. Next, the mussels, so good. Then my favorite, the oysters, they are so delicious. Thank you, Captain John! Finally, the Snow Crab, maybe this is my favorite! They were cooked perfectly in lemon butter they were so fresh and sweet. I still dream of them. Order and grab a seat. Enjoy the view it doesn't get any better. I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh, and there were only 2 of us, so order up! Thank you to the staff they were very attentive and wonderful.
Stopped here with my family (2 adults, 5 kids 5-14) shortly after getting off the PEI ferry. It was just what we were looking for. AMAZING food, BEAUTIFUL views and cold beer. We tried lots of different stuff on the menu (lobster melt, summer pasta, grilled cheese, oysters, clam and potato chowder, house salad, potato salad and coleslaw). Every single dish came out quickly, was hot and tasted amazing. I loved the atmosphere right next to the water. I would definitely recommend stopping at the Prim Point Chowder House.
Everything on the menu was delicious. Specifically, I know this because I tasted quite a variety of their dishes. My taste buds were tantalized with the seafood chowder and the clam chowder + the traditional lobster roll. I would so recommend going out of your way to go to this place. The staff were incredibly kind. A waitress who also happened to be a photographer on the side took pictures for my friend and I. Lastly, you should go to this restaurant not only for the amazing food and staff, but the views are not to be missed either. Friendship paired with great food and beautiful views summarize the wonderful experience at this restaurant.
Had a fantastic time with a serene and peaceful ambience. The food really hit the spot and it was unlike any other chowder I’ve had before. The lobster roll was warm, toasty, and buttery and fresh and very filling. The employees were exceptionally nice and seem to really care that we enjoyed our time there.
Funky Maine coastal place. Nice views, good seafood.
Excellent oceanfront seafood house with draft beer and cocktails.
We had Original Lobster Rolls, seafood chowder and clam/potato chowder. Bread pudding for dessert. All excellent. Super friendly and laid back staff. Well worth the drive and priced right. Short walk to a lighthouse.
Breathtaking views ! Food was delicious ! You can sit in or outside. It was really busy but we got seated quickly. We had to park on the road and walk a little . Worth it !
Lobster/brie grilled cheese was delicious, but the clam and potato chowder with biscuit was absolutely to die for!!! Pair a bottle of rosé and sit on the Adirondack chairs on the rocks overlooking the ocean...stunning!!! I dream about this place, its that good :)
It was great 5 years when we happened upon the place by chance. Good news, its still great to this day. I highly recommend getting the biscuit to go with the chowder! Order at the window, receive a buzzer, find a table, and wait for your bowl of seafood delight.
Absolutely beautiful location however, very disappointing food & very expensive. Chowder very poor as little seafood in it. There should be big pieces of fish, scallops & lobster. Steamer pit @ $50. had mussels, little fish & a few crab legs & a few quahaugs( that are very tough). No clams/lobster in it. Plastic forks, knives & dishes. As we were not happy with the food, we were given a bread pudding which was delicious! We can t recommend the food that we had, it was very poor!
Clam chowder insanely good! Same for the seafood chowder. Worth the drive.
Awesome seafood, very efficient system to order so you get served fast.
Great atmosphere. Everything we tried was very good.
Seafood chowder is actually incredibly delicious
The portions are generous and the chowders were delicious!
Highly recommend! Loved their steamed quahong clams.
Great food!Great Service!
Best food Ive had so far in PEI! Seafood chowder and biscuit were so good! Very fast, friendly service and you cant beat the view!
Great location right on the water and the idea of seating ourselves and ordering at the window was perfect. We both had the eastern lobster roll and the extra crunch from the celery was great. Definitely worth a stop.
Great food, by the ocean
Still the best Lobster roll on the island! Lobster melt was delish, and the seafood chowder too! You really can t go wrong here!!
Really good food, beautiful setting. Super nice staff. Get the quahog clams and a biscuit to sop up the broth.
Best chowder! Of the bacon verity! Very good biscuit! The clam steamer pot was a real star of the show! Would eat again if on that side of the island!
Very friendly, pleasant staff. Fast take out order to go. I ate while the missus drove. Had the Seafood Chowder with large buttermilk biscuit. Ok chowder but, wouldn t make the drive to get it again. Everything was diced, almost like someone used a SlapChop. Kinda pricey for what it was. The buttermilk biscuit was huge and crumbly. There s better chowder out there. (August 9 visit)
The staff was cheerful and accommodating to each patron. All the food we ordered was delicious.
Spectacular view and vibe. The staff were great and the food was as well. Worth the drive!
Fantastic food and service, and the most beautiful view on the island. Every employee there was fantastic with our daughter, kind as could be. Well be back for some more Chowder for sure!
lovely place with a great view. Only outdoor seating, but it was a rainy day and we quite enjoyed our table under the covered part of the patio. Excellent crab. Great service.
Best Lobster Roll we ve had out east in two weeks well done
Best clam chowder everrrrrrrr
Very picturesque and well appointed place, the chili for lovers is a treat and a good portion. and my traveling companions really liked their meal too.
A beautiful place with a wonderful view! A relaxing atmosphere to eat delicious chowder and a good lobster roll. The potato salad is just as delicious! We had a blast!
Impossible to eat inside when its very cold outside because the young waitresses want to be on their cell phones out of sight. Welcome without a smile. Not worth the detour!
The food here is amazing! Best lobster roll on the island (I had tasted many by this time) and the view on the patio .. you are sitting oceanside with no obstructions! The hours listed were 12-6 but I learned (tourist) that meant that your food order had to be in to the kitchen by 6 pm. While it is a walk-up window to order food, you can also order beer, wine, etc, and there is table service for water, clearing and anything you might need. We were a group of 5 ordering a few different things and everyone was thrilled with their meal and satisfactorily full when finished. Oh and gluten-free options a plenty. We also dined with a dog, as this is a dog-friendly patio/deck. Dietary restrictions: Many gluten free options- the chowders, rolls, you name it. Parking: A small parking lot available and then there is parking on the long dirt road leading to the chowder house. Perhaps not the most suitable for people with mobility limitations.
My husband enjoyed his Lobster roll and my daughter and I enjoyed our plain Jane grilled cheese sandwiches (yeah, were boring). Everyone enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.
Nice lobster rolls and chowder, but the quantity of lobster salad $30 is less than expected
Great views and food
Excellent stuff and beautiful view
Very casual and rustic, but we stopped in for a quick lunch. The servers were quick and efficient, the food was good and the location unique. Strongly recommend if you visit this area.
Delicious lobster roll and chowder in a beautiful setting!!
We ordered the seafood chowder and oysters. The oysters are wild and caught from the Pinette river which is 5 min away from the restaurant. The oysters are eaten raw. Weve never eaten raw oysters before. Only my mom and I ate the oysters. My dad isnt a seafood lover. The oysters tasted very fresh and tasted like the ocean, a bit salty and delicious. Adding the lemon and the horseradish gave the oysters a little kick. The seafood chowder was creamy and delicious. We also never had seafood chowder before. I heard and read that this restaurant had some really good chowder. They have free and very cold water in the water cooler tank outside. They have plastic utensils and cups. Total cost was $40.25. Theres a nice view of the ocean and beach/ocean floor at low tide. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly restaurant. They have water bowls for your furry friends. You can take photos of the Point Prim Lighthouse from here and of the low tide. Parking: Theres enough spaces for about 10 spaces. Kid-friendliness: We saw a family come in and eat with their kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Theres a ramp leading to the seating areas of the restaurant.
What a gem! Next to the lighthouse at the end of a red dirt road. You can almost feel the sea spray on the deck. Great food, friendly service and a great view. What more do you want?
Excellent food and location. Best lobster roll of my life
Good food. Friendly people. Pretty views
Good food, nice view and friendly people. The mussels were delicious !
I was excited to come here after hearing so many great things but was pretty underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the summer pasta which was store bought linguine covered in butter with minced garlic (very little flavour for the amount of garlic suspect it was the garlic from the jar) with some spinach and a few halved cherry tomatoes. You cant add any options to this so I asked for some bacon on the side as one of their menu items contains bacon but was told that wasnt possible. It wouldve been nice to be able to add bacon and/or chicken for a fee. This dish was extremely bland and oily. I had to add salt, pepper to make it edible. My husband had the seafood version and it wasnt much better. Maybe stick to the chowder if you come here, Ive heard good things about it. Great rustic atmosphere and right on the water so nothing to complain about there. Vegetarian options: Limited options. Parking: 10
The food is fantastic!
Point Prim Chowderhouse in PEI is a true culinary gem that deserves all the praise it receives. From the mouthwatering lobster rolls to the delightful seafood pot, this place delivers an exceptional dining experience. The lobster rolls are a revelation, with tender and flavorful lobster meat tucked into perfectly toasted buns. best I ve ever had!! The seafood pot is a medley of mussels, clams, shrimp, and fish cooked to perfection in a savory broth. All of this is complemented by a breathtaking seaside view that adds a touch of magic to the meal. The casual vibe, friendly staff, and warm hospitality make you feel right at home. If youre in PEI and craving delicious seafood in a picturesque setting, Point Prim Chowderhouse is a must-visit.
All I can say is wow! Everything was amazing and the lobster rolls were on another level. To wash it down try the moonshine mojito When in P.E.I. this restaurant is a must go. Food
Food was amazing and the team are super friendly!
Incredible. First night we had the steamer pot, so delicious, the crab legs were particularly amazing. So good we had to go back for round 2, fishermanss pasta, just as good if not better than the first meal. Super chill music and atmosphere, stunning seaside view. Food came out wicked fast each time, super friendly service. I would drive out of my way to go to this place again next time Im on the island.
My husband and I had the lobster rolls and seafood chowder, they were the best we have tasted in the East Coast.
Best lobster we had on the island. Fun place. Super fast service. I found it odd that they want you to pay in advance AND tip even before you get your meal.
Very good, beautiful terrace overlooking the river
Great sunset dinner spot. The mussels and chowder were top notch! Can pay by credit card at a take out window. Pick up food at another window and clear your own table. Kid-friendliness: Has Menu options for kids. We just had the butter pasta. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible ramp to order window and shaded dining.
My wife found a review of your fantastic food in the DO NOT MISS the experience of eating at Point Prim Chowder House while in this area. We made it point to try your food. It was fantastic!!! I told a pretty young lass looking after us that my seafood chowder was the best I have ever eaten and to please pass the compliment along to the chief oo chiefess. As we travelled along, we were told by many of your neighbours your food is legendary . What a great experience on a fine day. Thanks,, Rick and Sandra from London, Ontario. Parking: If you couldn t find parking, you were not looking very hard!
Firstly, it is no longer the exquisite seafood restaurant it has been. No table service. Kitchen closes at 6pm. No fish on the menu, however the grilled halibut was a special when I was there and is as good as I remember. The menu is condensed but has all the old favourites: lobster rolls, seafood chowder, steamer pot, seafood pasta, oysters. And the ocean vista is the same. On a sunny day there just isnt a better patio on the island. Try the Moonshine mojito
Amazing! Best seafood chowder ever! Unbeatable views and even though its canteen service the staff is Amazingly friendly and helpful! The provide blankets in case its chilly and binoculars to look at the seals. We are bown away. Good drinks too!
Everything on menu is delicious. And the hosts are delightful. Always a stop for us when we travel out east. Come early to check out the lighthouse, watch the tide come in/go out and eat a fantastic meal right on the water.
Amazing views and food! Must visit!!
The best chowder (and meal) we had on the island! A must for anyone in the area.
We had a fabulous meal at Point Prim Chowderhouse this eve. A friendly greeting - spectacular view and a food/drink menu with enough variety (and tastiness) to make the 3 generations at our table very happy. Ordering was fun and we cant wait to visit again. A real PEI gem. Vegetarian options: There was a vegan chowder available. Parking: There is plenty of parking available on the road and behind the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: The Host was considerate and friendly. There were sturdy wooden high chairs available for babies/toddlers. The open air seating made it comfortable for the whole family to relax and not worry about noise or disrupting other guests. There is also a kids pasta on the menu. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access`
Lobster rolls the best! No table service this tear. Set up so once order placed it arrives at lo action I a take out container. Customer picks up...customer picks up components napkins, water cutlery etc Food
Friendly staff and quick service. Seafood chowder was delicious! Pricey, but good food. The freshly brewed coffee was terrible and overpriced. They offered blankets to the customers because of the cold winds. Overall nice experience.
My daughter and I absolutely loved it!! We each got the seafood linguini. We couldnt finish it. The portions were huge and so tasty. We sat outside looking over the ocean. A beautiful view, beautiful food, and beautiful company! I highly recommend Point Prim Chowderhouse if you just happen to be in P.E.I.
The fabulous views of Northumberland Strait from our picnic table at Point Prim Chowder House & Beach Bar were picture perfect and their East Coaster chilled lobster roll was perfection! A generous portion of juicy, tender meat with just the right smattering of mayo celery salad. Their delicious split-top bun fresh and toasted with a glistening of butter was exactly the right vehicle to make the lobster meat taste delicious in every bite!
Great food and beautiful view
Scening view, fresh and tasty seafood Parking: Parking in front and side Food : 5/5 |
Point Prim Chowder House is no longer what it used to be. The window service is less than appealing. The food is delicious and the views spectacular but it used to be an outing an awesome experience. You now get your food out of a cardboard box at Chinaware prices. Im disappointed to say the least. What happened to the license plates. I have 10 years of photos with my kids holding the sign that says I love this place. Not this year! Please go back to your original model it was 10 times better.
Amazing chowder and great view of the ocean. Lobster was also great!
Don t be intimidated by drive in road turning to dirt. Food, atmosphere and staff top notch. Comfortable dining. Too bad it s too far from Michigan.
Literally some of the best food I ve ever eaten. The staff was so lovely and it s such a gorgeous location. If you don t go here your next trip to PEI, your seriously missing out.
I ordered the Lobster rolls ( original) and it was really good. The place is really nice too.
A friend and I boated from Charlottetown for the express purpose of dining at this establishment. It didnt disappoint. I had a lobster roll where the meat was poached in butter which was delicious.
What could be nicer than relaxing on the patio of this restaurant with your dog at your side, enjoying the beautiful views while savoring a delicious seafood chowder!
Delicious food, amazing views, if its raining wear mud boots.
Lovely place for lunch, great atmosphere too.
Outstanding oysters. Fabulous lobster rolls and great setting. Highly recommend!
On my gosh! My expectations of what we would eat here today were pretty low. A restaurant in a remote area that appears to cater mostly to tourists. My expectations were low quality and high prices. Thank goodness we decided to stop anyway. The food was out of sight good. My lobster salad was on par with anything Ive ever gotten in any restaurant. My wife said her Clam Chowder was the best she had ever had. We spent a magical afternoon having our lunch on the patio overlooking the ocean. It was delightful in every way. Never judge a book by its cover it has been said. Thankfully, we stopped here. I certainly recommend you do as well.
Couldnt believe that view... And the chilli was amazing Food
Scenic location. Food portion is a bit small.
This chowder house is exactly what you d expect for a sea side lunch! Perfect little gem of a spot literally right on the ocean! There isn t no indoor seating, which you wouldn t want to do anyways and miss the beautiful ocean views. The seafood chowder was amazing and full of meaty morsels of seafood goodness! Washrooms are available and is also dog friendly
Amazing little spot! Seafood chowder and vegan chowder were really good. Lovely views to enjoy while enjoying your meal.
You ruined lobster rolls for anyone else. My wife and I did the climb at the tower then sat on the deck and had both kinds of rolls at that amazing setting. A real point changer in someones life. She is still talking about it.
Super tasty! The lobster roll and cheesy delight grilled cheese were both amazing. The service was impressively quick. Amazing views! Definitely recommend
Can t beat the view and the delicious seafood!
Nice place, Delicious food
Lobster roll was really good! Take out style service was meh. Dont have 18%+ minimum tip option on the terminal if Im doing the servers job. Dont get me wrong, Staff was great.
Fantastic restaurant with amazing food and atmosphere!!
Amazing view and friendly staff. Good chowder and lots of gluten free options. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options Food : 4/5 |
Lovely beach shack atmosphere, casual dining, great food!
What a beautiful place to have lunch! My family and I loved the view of the lighthouse, and ocean! And on top of that they have great chowder. I highly recommend!
Our best meal out (all around) on our Maritimes 2-week sampler tour! Location, food, and setting are the best... especially near sunset on a good-weather day. This is a summer-only establishment & well worth the visit while on PEI. Parking: Plenty of room in the informal lot and along the lighthouse road.
Was totally unexpected experience. We stumbled across it on the way to the lighthouse and stopped in. They had closed for the season but opened for a few hours as it was a nice day The food was stupendous, as was the service. Highly recommend this place if you go in summer. Hours are 12 to 6.
Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair ramp is good and accessible bathroom good. However, driveway parking lot is gravel which made it bumpy for my mother who has a bad back so it was bumpy for her which is painful and uncomfortable. If the bumpiness doesnt effect you accessibility is good, thankyou Food
Great setting, lovely people, excellent food! There on vacation...definitely a eating out highlight!! Dietary restrictions: My friend and I are Gluten-free....several option!
Last day of the season. Excellent seafood chowder.
One of the best restaurants on the Island. Mainly seafood. Incredible views. Best sundown views on PEI. Great authentic chowder, oysters, lobster rolls and salads. In season, make a reservation. Fills up fast. On the water.
What a wonderful experience ! From the unbelievable view, to the music and ambience , our dinner at prim point was fantastic. The food is phenomenal and our server Melissa was absolutely lovely! The lobster roll is the best we had while on the island! Would recommend to anyone looking for the whole east coast package.
Delicious seafood chowder packed with flavor, overlooking a beautiful setting. Highly recommend!
Ordered the seafood chowder and wasnt disappointed! It hit all the spots! A must try if you are in the surroundings.
All I can say is wow. This place blew me away! The food was amazing, I ordered the Buttered Lobster Rolls for my appetizer and the Fisherman Pasta for my entrée (forgot to take a picture of that one lol). The Lobster Rolls are incredible! They made my day (my first time trying them). I absolutely love it and highly recommend this place, this is a must go to!
Best chowder and beautiful view of the ocean and lighthouse. We got take out because they were full for dine-in (must reserve online) but they have picnic tables right outside of their patio. The dine-in menu has more seafood selection and we will definitely be coming back to try it!
Wow, definitely the most expensive seafood chowder my wife and I have ever bought but absolutely the best tasting chowder weve ever had!! Weve had fish chowders from various restaurants across Canada, in the Maritimes, and down the US eastern seaboard but this little shanty on Point Prim makes the best! We got there just before it closed and thought the shrimps and scallops may be a bit chewy if they were left simmering all day but we were amazed that the shrimps and scallops were very tender! And the flavour of the chowder was wonderful with just enough spicy heat to add some zing! We added a piping hot generous biscuit to the order which was quite filling and did the job soaking up the chowder. Great experience eating chowder by the water after climbing the oldest lighthouse on the island!
What an incredible discovery (at a time when Google Maps did not yet exist and we had to rely on a paper map and the tourist guide!!!) I dont know if the food is still as exceptional there, but at the time , he made a delicious blueberry/lemon scone. and what can we say about the view, simply breathtaking!
The best sea food chowder I ate of all the seafood restaurants I encountered on my road trip in the east of the country... The lubster roll is really good!!
Delicious fine dining spot, perfect spot for Islander and tourists to enjoy good food with a view
Great as always! Had the seafood chowder plus the seafood steamer pot - lots of seafood!
Good place to have a good meal but it takes forever to get there and by that time it may only serve take-outs. So plan your trip well.
Be aware, this place is busy! We love chowder and we were told that this place had the best chowder on the island but it was very out of the way. Because it was so off of the beaten path we did not expect to see the volume of guests being served. Of course we had not made a reservation. But we were not turned away. We were told that we could order from the takeaway window and enjoy our food at the tables by the water. This option was perfect for us. Our order arrived within a reasonable time even though it was super busy. We had the chowder , of course, and a biscuit. The chowder was good, but not the best on the island for sure. It was pretty watery but it was loaded with potato and fish and very tasty. The biscuit was very good. It was a well sized portion that was warm and came with a pat of butter. Overall, the experience was not too disappointing but we found the food very overpriced. $13.95 for a small bowl of chowder and $2.95 for the biscuit. We will not be back.
Ive always loved this place but when we went for tge first time this year it was different. No inside dining and the ekderly lady I was with doesnt handle the heat very well and we had to sit outside at picnic tables, place our order at a window and get our own water and pick up our food when it was ready. The prices have gone way up. We both needed a rest room after traveling and hour to get there but in order to use a rest room we would have had to request admittance and be let inside to use tge bathroom. We just decided to eat quickly and go down the road to a convenience store. I wont be back. Too bad. This was one of my favorite places. Karen who owns the place and who has always been so kind and such a great hostess wasnt even very friendly this visit. All in all it wasnt a good experience at all. Sorry.
The dichotomy between take-out andreservation-only fine dining ruins the experience of going to a little local business. They are successful, they know it and they capitalize ont it. Lobster roll was perfect, though.
We didnt actually eat here - it was way too crowded. We walked around it and visited the beach next to it, which was very nice.
Our second time here and even better than the first. Can t beat the location and the food is incredible. Don t go without reservations.
Great goon Great location
Thank God this chowderhouse has a caste system in place. Imagine driving 80 km to this remote tourist trap to find you need to reserve a table now for next season. So for this place, without a reservation, you get a picnic table on the dirt and access to a limited menu via take out window service. Lobster roll and a chowder $58 CAD. They have a great view, but not any better than the free view from the Point Prim Lighthouse 200m to their left. Should have packed a picnic you should too. Parking: Plenty of parking.
Great food and service
Did not disappoint! Oysters were fresh, clam chowder one of the best I ve eaten, Lobster Roll yummy ! Service was excellent, location incredible congratulations on a job well done !
We have a great experience! Definitely delicious lobster roll & the chowder is WOW! Thanks, we had a great experience
Amazing service and delicious food. Stunning view! A must go.
The best restaurant on PEI. Amazing location, yummy food, super friendly staff. Definitely a place to visit while on the island. We ll be back!
Incredibly beautiful view of the sea. I would have stayed there longer if we would have known. The lobster roll was excellent. Before 4 p.m., its take-out and you can eat on the outdoor tables a few feet from the sea. Ill go back one day!
We love eating here! The views are absolutely breathtaking and the food is incredible. We ve been several times and it always exceeds expectations. I highly recommend
Stunning lobster roll, clam chowder & view
Every bite is an experience, from the flavor infused cream for the chowder to the butter & steamed Crab Legs. Make sure to set a reservation & enjoy the complete menu.
Out of towners, didnt know this place required a reservation, since this was our last stop in pei after a long ride. Was looking forward to the cheesy oysters, but after driving so long, completely famished - was told its not on the take out menu and the staff would not even try to be accommodating. Would not recommend this place to anyone. No consideration for folks traveling from far.
Excellent chowder worth the journey. Beautiful views
Wonderful chowders and lovely service. Well worth getting a reservation, but there is always take out.
My husband and I came here last year and had a lovely meal and were looking forward to coming back all year. Unfortunately, this was not a positive experience. We ordered the seafood and clam chowder with a biscuit, a buttered lobster roll, and the house salad. The seafood chowder was excellent as was the biscuit. The clam chowder was not. All we could taste was potato. The lobster roll had far too much lettuce in it. The fresh herb dressing was too thin and didn t cover the salad (which was predominantly iceberg lettuce) which resulted in a very bland salad. I m happy to pay for good food. This was not that and not worth my $80+. I approached the owner after our meal to share our experience, as I feel a few small tweaks would make all the difference for future guests and he told me he was eating his lunch, making it clear he did not want to speak to me. Overall disappointing. Won t be back.
seafood chowder is perfect I love it
Great views and better food. Hands down the best lobster roll I have ever had. The fantastic people the run it are the friendliest and helpful people. I will be coming back
Wonderful seafood and chowder. We always get the lemon and cream mussels. The chowders are generous and delicious. The pasta was phenomenal. The prices are reasonable and the views are spectacular. The owners are a lovely friendly couple as well. A can t be missed restaurant on PEI. Well worth the drive out.
The seafood and clam chowders were delicious. Make a reservation in advance if you want to sit on their deck. Otherwise you need to order takeout and there are picnic tables that are first come first serve. Totally worth the visit!
Did takeout and sat on picnic tables. Everything, including the weather was spectacular. Fantastic music playing , as well. Will return!
This was a total surprise find. We were driving down this dirt road to check out the lighthouse (visiting from Calgary) and came across this cute little restaurant at the end of the road. We had no idea it was even there so surprised they asked us for reservations. We didn t have any but we were able to order take out and enjoy sitting outside on the picnic tables instead. The food came out quickly and was delicious. Even enjoyed a nice glass of wine. We went with a basic grilled cheese which was good. It s a beautiful spot to soak up the water, views and just relax.
Such a lovely spot, a must experience on the island. Deck awesome, lots of ambiance with curtains and lights..and the sea air, the waves, the sun if youre lucky, but even with clouds its a great experience. Indoor dining as well, if reservations. If not, outdoor dining available... Parking: Parking available, even on side of road, its the end of the road, light house is last thing...nice too! Disability parking, and a ramp as,well! Wheelchair accessibility: Several parkingspots available.
The reviews are pretty accurate. Excellent clam chowder and the grilled cheese with pulled pork was beyond expectations - by a lot. Whod a thought. View is incredible, service friendly and efficient. Prices are fair. Would have loved to try the actual dine in experience but that was fully booked a month out. Can understand why. Absolutely worth the drive!!
This is a wonderful little off the beaten path place at the end of a gravel road and right on the water. Take out, covered deck, or indoor seating available though reservations are suggested for indoors. The food was excellent especially the Seafood Chowder. Service was quick and staff are very friendly. The rustic interior and instrumental music added a warm ambience on the cold, windy, rainy day we were there. If your looking for great PEI hospitality, this is the place.
The most amazing steam pot, martini s and bread pudding to die for. We drove all the way from Ontario for our meal. Gracious hosts, spectacular view, a meal like no other. Thank you again Karen and Paul!
Outstanding!
The best and most unique restaurant Ive ever been to. Located at the very end of a dirt road right on the edge of the ocean. We were lucky to have been there on a warm sunny day in September. The service was quick and the lobster roll was spectacular. My husband had the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich, and he said it was out if this world! Afterwards, we walked to the lighthouse nearby and even walked up to the top. Just a beautiful place to be, so if you are in the east side of PEI, this is a must.
Such a fun place to get delicious chowder with a great view!
Dined here in 2016 and very much enjoyed it. Unfortunately the prices have gone up and the quality down. The chowder is average and there are far better options for lobster roll on the island. I will return next year as I hope this is a one-off and 2023 marks a return to form.
Can t beat the views from the deck. Food and service are excellent!! Really enjoyed the Lemon Cream Mussels
Thanks for the great service and amazing food!
Amazing food and relaxing place. Probably the best restaurant we went in PEI. The owners even go talk to you to make sure everything is perfect. I don t normally order salmon because it s kinda expensive, but I did it here and tbh, I did not regret my choice. If you are looking for the best local restaurant, located at less than one foot from the beach, THIS IS THE PLACE.
Wow! Delicious and incredible view.
What a great first introduction to some REAL fish and chips. I cant wait to go back and try some more!
We grabbed takeout here on our way to the ferry. It was fairly quick and tasted AMAZING! One of my favourite spots we ate on the whole island. We are already planning to leave enough time whenever we return to ensure we have can enjoy the beautiful view.
Delicious meal, great staff and a spectacular setting. I love that they are dog friendly too!
Food was amazing but felt like an outsider Was nerver asked how the food was.
Triple wow! Exquisite food with stunning ocean views!
Me and the misses loved the place. Food was excellent and great atmosphere.
Wow ! Great service! Excellent food!! Own! What can I say about the view! WoW and re WoW!
Lovely spot, great food. Note reservation is needed.
One of the best seafood meals I ve ever had. Definitely the best chowder.
Wonderful place to eat. Beautiful like location. Excellent food!!
Chowdah!
The location is superb. We arrived just after the kitchen re-opened and although we did not have a reservation we did get a table. In general make a reservation! We had a starter with pita chips, olives and two dips. We followed that with a lobster roll and the seafood steamer. Both were excellent. We finished the meal with a couple of panacottas which were perfection. Just come here, and eat looking over the Northumberland Strait, but make reservations.
The setting is stunning, the food is hearty and delicious and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Make a reservation or go early to avoid missing out. Its definitely worth the trip out to the point!
Wonderful spot to stop!! Great service and breathtaking view. The blueberry bread pudding was delicious as was the feature rose. My hubby had the chowder which came with a huge buttery biscuit. I would be highly recommend this spot.
One word, YUM! Stopped by for a snack and it turned into a feast! Each thing was better than the next. Started with oysters and seafood chowder, next it was crab cakes and original lobster roll, then we ended with the home made panna cotta and blueberry bread pudding. Service was amazing and quick.
Great chowder! Spectacular view! Great service and a super friendly and accommodating owner!
Great food and views and even seals swimming by
Amazing seafood and great staff! The view is outstanding also.
I love this restaurant. The location, food and service is amazing. I bring all my guests to PPCHouse. The only thing that tops the beautiful drive to Point Prim is the delicious food. I look forward to going back again. Thank you for what you do!
Best view, best food, best service ! Our absolute favorite food stop.. near the oldest lighthouse of the island ! It is a memorable destination !!
My son declared the seafood chowder to be the best he has had. The haddock and chips was very very good.
Food here was fantastic but a little pricey. Family of 4 would be easily $100. Will recommend this place.
I tried lunch time and dinner time. I would say it was much better to eat outside at noon. Under the comfortable sunshine, enjoying the soft wind, it was the wonderful experience ever!
Extremely good food, friendly staff, and great service. A little same on the inside with more outdoor patio sitting. MUST RESERVE YOUR TABLE.
Great food and spectacular views.
Nice little spot when you want to do e next to the ocean. Prices are affordable too.
Simply the BEST!! SO GOOD!! The setting is perfect, right on the water. The menu gives lots of choices but the Chowders were just outstanding. Service was quick, very friendly and attentive.....we will be back
Great food awesome view
Wonderful atmosphere, unbelievable food.
The best food and fabulous views, friendly staff...what more can you ask for.
Yum!! Lobster roll and lobster grilled cheese. Sinful!!
The server, food, and atmosphere were all amazing.
Surprised to find l need a reservation, out at the end of a 20 kilo drive. But l have to agree with a departing diner, it was worth waiting for.
We visit the Chowder house once a year because it was always delicious every time but this time we book late Sept and we werent impressed by seafood pasta or fish cakes ,lacked taste this time around. Will be questioning our visit next year. Salad was delicious ( house Salad) was made of fresh arugula and carrots seeds plus corn. Veey fresh .
Absolutely delicious food, very relaxed ad beautiful setting. The chowder is incredible
Reservations recommended but they were able somehow to accommodate our group of 5 without reservations indoors. Chowder was good but I have had better. Can t beat the view though.
Really delicious food. Closed for the season. We got in on their last day.
Great views, great clam chowder. A few too many mosquitoes for September but no regrets.
Lobster grilled cheese was beyond incredible! Make sure to book a reservation...people drive for quite awhile to enjoy these treats (scenery isnt too shabby either!!).
Lovely food with a beautiful view. I ve been here a few times and family and friends. I have never had bad service or a bad meal. Generally friendly and well priced. It has a diverse menu, so don t be put off by the idea of seafood chowder only. You re best off to make a reservation, but if you don t have one they can usually give you a wait time. If its a nice day, you can walk up to the lighthouse and around to kill the wait time. This spot does get busy- I would say the only issue I ve had is tracking down the server when you re ready to go. More than once I ve just gone to the til after a long wait. Not worth demoting stars over, for sure!
