Had high hopes for this place after seeing reviews, however our experience was not good. Saddest crabcake I have ever seen, it was paper thin, overly charred. Scallop special it was obvious they sliced scallops thinly in half and served as three. Very disappointing. Flavour overall not bad, good service and nice place, unfortunately we will not be returning to dine. Points for offering vegan options, nice to see.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. My family and I just moved here recently from Toronto. When asking around for a nice restaurant recommendation from people in the area, for some reson this one did not come up and it SHOULD have. We found this place accidentally and are SO happy we came here for our special celebration. The food was absolutely phenominal.. PHENOMINAL! I have eaten in many TO restaurants over the years, but absolutely nothing has ever compared to the amazing dishes we had here. As a vegetarian, Im used to having to settle for a salad or a veggie burger, etc, wherever I go - but saw a dish called Campfire on the menu so thought Id give it a go. I was in absolute HEAVEN. When my husband asked me if I liked it, I turned to him and said, If it was socially acceptable to lick a plate clean in public, I would lol! Their chef has some serious skills, and we have been telling everyone who will listen about this place. Great atmosphere, service was good, but my GOD was the food outstanding. 10/10 Chef!! Thank you for sharing your culinary skills with the community, we will most definitely return asap!

Our waiter was great. The menu prices are a bit pricey. Very limited menu choices. Not a typical family restaurant. The live music was way too loud. Parking: Other than a few street parking spots, the majority of parking is down an alley behind the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: We didnt have kids with us, however, the menu is not kid friendly.

A wonderful mix of classy and comfortable

Went here recently for a date night at the bar. We ordered a nice wintery vegetarian dish and the baked brie with naan (w/ baked figs and grapes) to share, both dishes were lovely and well prepared.

Food was delish but menu not all that vegan or gluten free friendly. Very glad to see they are open again Food

The servers are very friendly and attentive, as a whole the service is second to none, The food was absolutely amazing the kitchen is definitely of the highest standard plus the portion sizes are very generous! Definitely looking forward to going back again!

Let me start by saying WOW. From a local who treasures quality home-cooked meals and seldom dines out in Belleville, my Valentines Day dinner at Capers was a revelation that has completely transformed my dining preferences in town. Its rare to find a restaurant that compels me to write a review, but Capers deserves every bit of praise. Walking into Capers on such a special night, I was immediately struck by the warm and inviting ambiance that promised an evening to remember. What I didnt anticipate was how the meal would elevate my standards for dining excellence, right here in Belleville. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the Risotto. As someone who has savored this dish across the globe, including Italys most renowned establishments, I can confidently say Capers rendition is on par with the best. The flavors were complex, comforting, and utterly delightful, a testament to the remarkable skills of Chef Taylor Knox. Speaking of Chef Knox, his visit to our table added a personal touch that was much appreciated. Its not every day you meet a young, well-educated talent who not only has mastered his craft but also exudes passion for his culinary creations. Learning that Chef Knox honed his skills at Bellevilles own Loyalist College made the meal even more special, showcasing the local talent our town has to offer. The service throughout the evening was impeccable, with attentive yet unobtrusive staff ensuring our Valentines Day dinner was perfect. This level of care and professionalism is what sets Capers apart and guarantees my return. Capers is more than just a restaurant; its a culinary destination that I am proud to have in downtown Belleville. Whether for a special occasion or to impress guests and clients, I now know where to go for an international standard dining experience without leaving town. Thank you, Capers, for a memorable evening. I look forward to many more visits.

Just had such a nice time at Capers. My partner and I split the Brussel Sprout Dish and the Truffle Fries. Also, I enjoyed a local beer and they had a cocktail. All of it was outstanding as was the service! We can t wait to go back.

Service: We were greeted like family. Attentative and friendly. Food: Small, but Excellent menu to choose from. From vegetarian to burgers...full of Flavours. Cauliflower and Brussel sprouts are to die for!! We got to personaly compliment the Chef Vegetarian options: The Romesco Cauliflower is huge in size and flavor!! Parking: Convenient Street parking available.

It was ok. A simple escape room with puzzles that were almost incomprehensible.

One of our favorite spots. Kristyn does a awsome job. Apps, meal, drinks all perfect timing. The taco apps and flatbread pulled pork were amazing. The entertainment cancelled to night but we still had fun. Moved up to bar after dinner for a round of monte Cristo coffees. Yum! The brussel sprout salad is a must try. Steaks cooked perfect. Hats off to kitchen.

Ive dined at Capers twice now and both times have been meals to remember! Every dish is fantastic, the drinks are great, and the staff are very friendly. The live music makes a great atmosphere. Zero complaints!

So far the best restaurant weve eaten at in Belleville. Weve been her twice already. Great customer service, amazing quality food, and nice chill atmosphere. The chef knows what theyre doing... My filet was the best steak Ive ever had and Ive been to many fine dining steakhouses. The cocktails are also perfectly crafted. Im not typically a dessert person but their creme brulee is out of this world. We will go back here as often as we can, especially when they have live music.

Great venue, live entertainment, easy parking, made this an really enjoyable night. The brussel spouts dish was amazing. Lost a star only because of pricing related to the charcuterie board. It was great quality meats and cheeses, but just a little extra variety and unique items would align it better to the price.

Attended a private party in their side event rooms. Room had its own bar, while the main bar was also still available. Room was nice, our event was a standing only event. A mic was available for the few speeches that were made. Food was large plates of starters, consisting of hot and cold foods and was good.

We had their new shrimps soft tacos. Out of this world. The service was great. Very nice staff.

Party of 4, had drinks/wine, 4 main courses and 2 desserts. Overall, doubt we will come back. Flavours were pretty good, but the plating was mediocre and technique was lacking. The chicken was overcooked, Creole pork wasnt very creole-y and lacked some sear, salmon was missing... something, and one of the desserts (churros) were both burnt AND raw in the middle.

We arrived, sat down, and decided to leave based on the rude welcome we had. I dont like to write bad reviews, but we were out for a girls night and were looking for a fun night. We had reservations based on others recommending to go this establishment. Was disappointing to feel like we had to leave.

I arrived, and was greeted by Keisha who was everything AND more! She s promptly sat me at the bar as I had arrived a bit too early for my reservation. She was very engaging and chatty, asking about my day as if we were the best of friends that had just gone out to a wine bar last weekend! Keisha was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu, able to give the best recommendations! I later joined with my friends who HAD ACTUALLY made a reservation. Table was at beautifully. Service from Reagan was spectacular! She was very prompt and met our every need! 10/10 recommend for your next girls night if you re looking for a fun night! However I d actually make sure you make a reso and not just show up and then walk out for no reason. Anyways, I ll definitely be back! Thanks again Keisha, Reagan and Claire and team! See ya soon!

Asked for the 10% discount showing our theatre tickets and was told they were not doing that anymore. Had the muscles with grilled bread. Muscles were good but bread came unbuttered. Asked for butter but was told they did not have any up here. How can a restaurant not get you butter.

Did not honour the 10%off for meal as posted. My chicken was dry, the oysters mushrooms were rubbery. The only good thing about my meal was the espresso martini. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed because she was quite slow in checking on us. The wooden seats were very uncomfortable.

Great food & I noticed when I picked up my order that they are maintaining the vaccine passports a little longer, which is great. The tables are also nicely spaced out and Ill definitely plan to dine-in next time.

Awesome Friday night live music! Group of 8, we got a side room and long table ! This was great for us and the food was awesome! Honey wings and onion sandwich were great and flavorful! Desserts we tried both and they were equally delightful! Staff were very friendly and accomidating! Would definitely recommend! And would go back anytime.

Have been there a few times. I have to say that the atmosphere is great, the food is not. They also still ask for your medical history. Wont be back and definitely do not recommend going there. Many more places in belleviille to enjoy.

Mediocre menu at best. To add insult to injury, they wouldnt seat a party of one outside because they cant see tables for 1 outside in the patio. So youre telling me, that youd rather refuse business and gamble that your table gets filled with a party of 4 during non peak hours? Over-priced for what youre getting, truly. I went to The Lark instead and had an amazing experience. Alex, one of the co-owner was hospitable and did a full introduction of the menu for me and crafted and excellent experience. The pictures are from The Lark, not from Capers. Will not return and will not recommend.

Returning after Covid because I used to love the place. Nope, non GF except maybe the mains. I do like Brussels Sprouts but on the menu as an appetizer??? Wanted a real cup of tea. Well served luke warm. Come on folks!

Ordered take out this evening Fast courteous service and amazing food. Best steak Ive had in years.

Good: creative dishes. Bad: tastes meh. Pork belly sandwich did not render the fat. Meat was hard and dry. Tasted like it was quickly grilled at very high temperatures. Truffle fries had strong truffle flavour, but even STRONGER SALT. Hard to taste anything besides SALT. If the chefs take some of the feedback, Im sure this place would be great to try again.

They are not taking reservations at this time so you have to wing it first come first seated. We were seated and sat there for 15 minutes while I watched staff by the bar talking with each other and checking phones. I always give them the chance to notice us at a table. Nope had to go to the bar and ask if anyone was serving tonight We ordered the salmon special and a fantastic appetizer. The appetizer was a crb thing and it was great. The salmon arrived and it was completely raw in the middle we sent them back and they cooked us 2 more. It was great.

Busy Friday night, so a bit of a wait but it was well worth it! Tasty food, great service. Live music to boot! My teenagers loved every single course and bite. Server even saw us trying to take a family pic shortly after leaving the restaurant and ran out to take the shot for us! Above and beyond. Definitely be back!

Fantastic service! Decent draught beer selection. Food was good. I had calamari and wings. My only complaint would be that the hot wings are not hot. I will go back to sit on the patio and have some beers and food.

Obsessed with this place. The burger is so juicy, the sauce is unique. It melts in your mouth. The truffle fries are so tasty! To top it off, the servers are absolute class.

Very nice place. Delicious beef short rib and artisanal greens salad. Wouldve appreciated a heads-up that both courses would be served at the same time, but delicious nonetheless. Enjoyed the lemon curd and pumpkin cheesecakes. Well go back again and make sure were there for the entire live music performance.

Sorry to say the plate I got was terrible. Ask for a burger without the buns and with greens... I got not even a sample of dry ground beef, tasteless, and unappetizing. They didnt charge me for it, which Im thankful for the gesture, but the menu options and food has to improve Had also sangría which was delightful, just next time use fresh fruit instead of frozen.

Friend recommended this place in downtown Belleville and it didnt disappoint. We started with the meat charcuterie board. Meat was excellent and it came with lots of veggies too. I ordered the lamb pasta and my brother the salmon. Both were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We ended the meal with the strawberry shortcake. All and all a terrific experience.

We liked the setup of the restaurant. The entertainment was good. Our meals were a disappointment. The scalloped potatoes were not cooked, the hilite of my $34.00 steak and fries were the fries. The steak was horrible. Wont go to this place again.

A very pretty terrace, delicious food and a charming waitress

Lady food got a fish taco, which were bomb, lady food did not eat the whole thing as she hates food consumption but was pleasantly surprised. The food sampled and was embellished by a savoury, zesty, cool taste explosion. The food got a burger which was made from local beef, the rich flowing flavour captivated the food.

I had a very enjoyable date night here. I ordered the steak and it was delicious! My dates order was very good too (cant remember what she got) Nice atmosphere and great live music and drinks. Will be returning

Visited from out of town. Not much open elsewhere. We were happy to be seated right away and had fantastic service (Chris was so helpful and positive). Live music was a bit loud, but suited the cosy atmosphere. Kimchi tacos and charcuterie were delicious.

The visual aesthetic of the inside of Capers is truly one-of-a-kind. Hip and trendy, but not over done. Then you get to the food (which is amazing). Its definitely one of my favourite places to eat or pop in at for a drink.

Ive never bad a bad meal here. I love cooking brisket in my smoker, Im always interested in trying new foods so when I went with a girl on a date and I saw a special was brisket, I had to have it. Now, normally I like my brisket in sandwich form. Because its amazing. But I got a brisket meal, complete with mac and cheese, the veggies and pretty sure theres coleslaw. Do yourself a favor and go here. OH and they have a duck breast poutine. Its amazing. The chef is a true master, and when he has some time he comes out of the back to chat. Super nice man, cooks incredible food, amazing atmosphere, the whole deal.

Capers has become a go-to for me and my wife. The menu changes fairly often, the food is unfailingly good (sometimes excellent), and the ambiance is enjoyable. Capers doesnt quite rank with the best of the county or what you might find in Toronto, though the prices approach what you would pay in either. Sometimes the food is a little too salty or not seasoned enough, sometimes the protein dishes arent cooked quite to the right level. Ive found on more than one occasion that they successfully create interesting food pairings (their tuna ceviche with patty pan squash salad has a nice flavor and complementing textures, and the seared salmon with curry lentil salad is full of interesting flavors). I would like to see more adventurous food pairings and less safe ones (steak frites, BBQ chicken with potato salad, though thats not too say that both dishes werent enjoyable). I would consider the Lark their nearest competitor, and I think youll find that Capers is more reasonably priced, that the food is better and that the ambiance is less... yuppy? (though please go to the Lark if for nothing other than to admire their interior design). In short you wont be disappointed, and Belleville needs more restaurants like Capers.

I had never went to Capers until a couple weeks ago and honestly it checks off all the boxes for me. Its comfy, the staff is incredibly pleasant and the food was really good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone for any occasion. Its a little small so dont try and bring 20 people but great for groups between 1 and 5.

Its a great, relaxed atmosphere. You can dress up or wear jeans and wont look out of place in either. For entrees weve had the burger, the short-rib, the venison and the braised lamb strozzapreti. They were all amazing! The venison was probably the best meal Ive had in a long time.

Alot of options to chose from on their beer and wine list. We were here on a Saturday night, we were hoping for live music over the dinner hour. Good service.

Food and service are excellent as always. But its a small, zero-soundproofing restaurant, not a stadium rock concert. No amplification is needed, especially during dinner hours when really, most people are there to eat, drink, and visit with each other. Then when we walked to the car afterwards we could still make out the singers lyrics two blocks away. All of downtown Belleville can hear the music. Turn it way down, please!

Good apps, service

A friend of mine recommended trying Capers for lunch. I was not disappointed. If you love good food and a lovely atmosphere, I also recommend giving this place a try. The staff was wonderful, which is also worth mentioning. Pricing is a bit on the higher end of the spectrum but, in my opinion, totally worth it. I will be returning and have been recommending others do the same :)

We celebrated our company Christmas party there last Saturday night and I cant say enough good things. The food was absolutely incredible ( we had a buffet style for 60 people) . There was tons to eat for everyone and the feedback was 5 stars all the way. Bravo to your Chef and staff. Everyone who looked after us were friendly and attentive all night .Thanks to Katie and the gang at Capers Restaurant . We cant wait to plan the next party with you!

Average. Nothing special, definitely not fine dining. The Wild Boar bolognese was very bland and the pasta seemed under-cooked.

Service was awesome. Entrance : try the nachos and the meatballs. Food delicious. 10/10 Desert was good. 4/5 nothing special just cheese cake. Try the red wine merlot. (Chile) Live music was just terrific. Definitely coming back.

Lovely little spot in downtown Belleville (one of the few right now as the downtown is in the process of being revitalized). I ate here on a Friday evening. We lucked out with the last table on the patio. They had live music inside, which you could enjoy outside thanks to the outdoor sound system. We started with a beer - lots of local/Ontario beverages on the menu to choose from. As an appetizer we enjoyed the grilled naan with (what I think was homemade) hummus & bruschetta. Only suggestion Id have is to serve with a little more naan so we could scoop up all that yummy dip! My boyfriend and I then both ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was perfection! Served on a beautiful brioche bun, and topped with slaw. Side dish was French fries - some of the best ones Ive had in a long time. All of this was provided to us by a fantastic, attentive, friendly server. Highly recommend and would love to visit again next time Im in the Belleville area.

Great bar, good food and very friendly staff. I frequent here often as its in my opinion the best place to get drinks in Belleville. They have a good selection of Ontario craft beer including Dead Elephant! They also have mainstream brews and may or may not have Guinness. They have a quantum mini fridge, theres a level of uncertain probability on whether the Guinness exists in there or doesnt untill its checked but sometimes its there later on.

Beautiful place. Quiet atmosphere. Great for a drink date. The appies are out of this world. Very knowledgeable staff and for what you get you cant beat the price.

Pork chop was amazing. Lamb was tender but slightly overcooked. Water is tap water with heavy unpleasant taste.
