I'm not a crazy croissant connoisseur, but I've enjoyed croissants across France and Quebec, and been disappointed by many croissants in Ontario. These croissants were really well reviewed, so we were excited. But they were worse than store bought croissants. There was very little flake, the outside was hard like crusty bread. It was a sad croissant. The croissant we got looked very different than pictures from a few months ago, so maybe the supplier or recipe changed?
Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and I can see it was lined up. Great sandwiches which very tasty. We went with the lemon tart as a dessert which was recommended. It was delicious 🤤 highly suggest you stop in. Limited seating.
Had the salmon croissant with a glass if white wine…. Very nice and finished with a great cup of americano.
Absolutely fantastic! Phenomenal food, great service and charming atmosphere! The owner, from France, is very friendly and charming too! I lived the almond croissants and pains au chocolat, as well as the lemon tart. The Basque cake was great with its homemade raspberry jam and custard. Great coffee prepared by the owner while we chatted! Exquisite Butternut soup to go. Reminded me of back home (Québec City) with its French European cachet! ♥️♥️
Lovely! You must visit this place when you come to Belleville, Ontario. I had a croque Monsieur & a coffee. Well, I won't count calories but it is delicious. They have indoor seating and patio seating in the summer -of course. The decor, service, and the food is very tasty. I want to come back.
The lineup out the door on Saturday mornings speaks for itself. I had a croissant and a breakfast sandwich (also on a croissant). The croissants are great (though the breakfast sandwich wasn't my favourite - it was probably the sauce). A lot of great baked options here. Better get there early if you want to have a good selection. Pro tip: don't sit at the tables inside by the door at busy times (i.e. Sat morning) unless you like being constantly jostled while sitting at your table (cause the line will snake past most of those tables).
You you know your foodies when all you need is a buttery croissant to make everything better! Truly AMAZING, some of the best classic french food outside of France we have be able to find! Its truly like a tiny slice of Paris in downtown Belleville, an authentic french culinary experience without the passport! Definitely recommend getting the almond croissant and ham & cheese - but trully they are all amazing.
This bakery had amazing sandwiches, bread, desserts and hot chocolate! I was very impressed with the variety of foods they offered. I had a roast beef and brie sandwich which was made with real roast beef (not deli meats), caramelized onions, brie, greens and a delicious sauce. The portions were very large! Two of my friends could only eat half of their sandwiches. I highly recommend coming to this place if you want delicious sandwiches, quiche, puffed pastries, and cakes!
Youve got to try this place when you visit Belleville. Preferably on a Saturday when they have their fresh baked croissants. They are all phenomenal but the cheddar is to die for! Also the Chicken Havarti sandwich is something I think about often. They bake it for you so its all melted with buttery toasted bread, flavorful aioli and juicy tomatos. You wont be dissapointed here.
It was my first time here and the food was excellent. Vicky Food
Perfect stop for lunch. Delicious salmon sandwich followed by coffee and a lemon tart. Nice patio on old Belleville main street.
If you are looking for some amazing flavors all in one. Well no need to look any further. We did soup and a sandwich with a pastry. This place was like being back in Paris. Everything that we could see looked like we are going to have to come back.
Great atmosphere and many options! The desserts looked absolutely delicious! Everybody enjoyed the experience and the tastes! Definitely worth stopping by! Food : 5/5 |
How lucky we are to have LAuberge de France in Belleville! Their attention to detail and dedication to quality shine through in every bite. This photo captures one of their delightful creations: a sesame-seed-studded bagel with smoked salmon, topped with a fresh slice of lemon. Its the kind of meal that makes you appreciate having such a high-quality, French-inspired eatery right here in our city. Whether its a cozy breakfast or a leisurely lunch, LAuberge de France offers an experience that feels both special and accessible, making it a cherished spot in Belleville.
Such a cute place. I felt like I was in Toronto again.
Sandwiches are always good, the atmosphere is nice and the staff are always friendly.
Great restaurant in Napanee! Food was delicious, service was wonderful! Highly recommend this delightful restaurant.
Patient and understanding service. Croissants were out of this world! I had a few questions about specialty French products and the staff was very generous with their answers. Bought 2x lattes and they were just ok - lacked the correct amount of milk. Otherwise great experience!
Nice lunch place. Might need a reservation as it has limited seating. Place is quite tight for space but comfortable. Has a true Québec-french vibe.. like youre in a Café in a quaint Québec town.
I love coming here on a Saturday after a yoga session in the area. The Ham and Swiss croissants are the best as well as the chocolate croissants for later. Great place to meet someone for a coffee.
Had a delicious chicken havarti sandwich and top notch service. Emily was very nice!
Visited on a Wednesday and was very much looking forward to some fresh pastry, a croissant sandwich of some kind or anything like what I saw on the website. I was most disappointed. Turns out croissants, fresh pastry and breads are only available on Saturdays. The sandwiches they offer are pre-made and reheated. My daughter ordered the smoked salmon and took one bite and opened the sandwich saying it tasted like bacon. Long story short... She spit out the second bite. Strangley they had put lemon pieces, with the rind, in the sandwich. So disappointed .
Limited breakfast options on week days. The lobster sandwich was delicious: fresh and very tasty! The ham & cheese quiche was also really good! Generous portions! Nice terrace! Food
Fantastic !!!
Visited for the first time. Enjoyed the sandwich I had and the triple chocolate cake we shared after. Worth another visit. Impressed by the service of the girl at the front; she was pleasant, friendly and helpful with questions, while managing a steady stream of customers.
Best cafe in BELLEVILLE, Their food was absolutely delicious, staff was very welcoming and prompt. Just opened up a store down the street and they also dropped of the most decadent delicious desserts.
Very good lunch. Well worth getting off the 401. Will definitely return next time will save room for dessert!
Best pastry in town.
This place is a gem, and the pastries are the best I ve ever had!! The croissants too <3
I went with a friend. Its a cute little cafe with many options. Ill be back to try some lunch soon.
Great atmosphere! Especially, Montreal style steak sandwich is awesome! I will definitely come back again!
Go as soon as they open on Saturday mornings if you want their amazing croissants! They sell out fast, and for a good reason! I tried the Brie, Cheddar, and Butter croissants! All giant, flakey, flavourful, and wonderful! And the customer service is super friendly, personable, and fast!
What can I say...a wonderful home time bakery. After wedding dress shopping we stopped in for lunch. Everything was great. 100% We will be back.
French fries were amazing, hand cut and dedicated fryer! Sandwiches were also very good, unfortunately theres no bakery items on weekdays.
Heard nothing but good things about this place so we made the trek in from Kingston only to leave kinda disappointed. The service was great, they were busy and trying to move people through fast and friendly. But the food was not up to the hype. Our croissants tasted like day olds, if I hadn t seen them constantly refreshing the bin you wouldn t have convince me otherwise. The disappointment deepened when my wife s almond croissant had zero almonds and the filling was so granular it was like the sugar hasent been dissolved. Finally we also tried their scratch made sausage rolls, it was the only good croissant we had, but the sausage was not good. Almost no seasoning, like a lump of pork with maybe anise flavor. It was funny, we asked them to cut it half because my wife and I were sharing it, not only did they use the knife that just seconds earlier was used to slice a cake, leaving a chocolate smear on the roll, but they also cut it length wise. Funny way to end an odd experience. If you haven t been, also be warned, it s near impossible to spend anytime at the counter looking at the desserts without feeling in the way. Wish there was more room to look salivate and decide
Top 10 French restaurant in Ontario. Outstanding food and great selection of takeaway Food
Ah this place is so good. Everything is so fresh and made with love What a place! Also - do they smoke their own salmon?! Whaaat
Breakfasts sandwiches #1
We absolutely love this little sliver of France in downtown Belleville, Cafe au Lait and the best croissants and sandwiches this side of gay Paris!
Love the pastries. Warm 8nviting atmospher
Such a quaint and homey establishment!! The food is wonderful, the staff are super friendly and helpful! And. saturdays are my favorite because of the most amazing, authentic croissants you will ever taste!! Be sure to order before Saturday....or they will be gone!! These croissants are a very coveted treat!! Dont miss out! Thank you LAuberge for all you do!! Vegetarian options: Always something for everyone! Dietary restrictions: If you have any dietary restrictions, options are available and easy to accommodate. Parking: Some paid parking on the street and in the large lot behind but only during the week. Weekends are free!! Kid-friendliness: Kid-friendly options also available. Wheelchair accessibility: Front entrance accessibility and indoor seating is also wheelchair friendly.
Delicious lattes and croissants. Customer service is excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
Great options for snacks and meals. Really like the breakfast croissant. The Croque Monsieur was fantastic Food : 5/5
Absolutely worth the stop. So yummy and such a beautiful atmosphere
We were in Belleville for the weekend and stumbled into L Auberge de France by accident. I can say without reservation that this the best coffee/lunch/breakfast place I ve been to. The food is fantastic but the staff were so personable, accommodating, and thoroughly thoughtful that we ll be back any time we re close by.
I have been an enthusiastic diner at LAuberge de France for many years. Lunchtime provides an imaginative variety of sandwiches, quiches, salads, soups, frites and delectable desserts. Freezers contain wonders of frozen pies and soups which you can purchase and then pretend that you are a brilliant cook. Once a month Jean-Marc (chef) produces an amazing 3 course Chefs Table which always are sold out - with good reason. Saturdays are croissants - plain, chocolate, raisin, almond and brie. Service is friendly, efficient and personal - a complicated balance to achieve - well done!
We re addicted. The food and the people who keep this great little place running so beautifully are truly outstanding every single time we go there!!! Please Chef don t ever retire the magic you put into your food brings us such joy.
This quaint French patisserie is a real gem in Belleville. Wonderful croissant unlike any I have ever had. It is totally worth getting up on a Saturday morning and heading downtown for these delights. We also thoroughly enjoyed the ham and vegetarian quiches we ordered. We placed our order easily online and our prepaid order was available promptly at the take out window, perfect for those wanting a curbside pickup option. Hoping you will have more take out dinner options again soon, we thoroughly enjoyed the ones we had in winter 2021.
This is a very quaint little cafe/market/bakery. The look & ambiance was very nice. We ordered a flat white coffee & à cappuccino & I tried the almond croissant. The almond croissant was filled with a generous amount of almond paste & was quite enjoyable. One of the better ones I have had. The coffee however was one of the worst we have ever tasted. It literally was not drinkable & went to the trash. Clearly some serious training & change of coffee beans is desperately needed. We would consider going back for the croissant & potentially try some of the sandwiches they offer. Vegetarian options: They were some vegetarian sandwiches as an option Parking: limited Street parking only Kid-friendliness: Friendly service
Great blueberry tea but the lack of vegan options has me coming here less and less
Absolutely the best Chicken Pot Pies!! And soups... and desserts... and homemade sandwiches...
Absolutely love it here
Excellent service, spectacular food and very good wines! I was fascinated! Mega recommended
I felt like l literally was in a little village in France when l entered this amazing bakery, cafe, winery. I had smoked salmon on fresh bread and a glass of Cabernet franc. Tres bien! Customer service was exceptional! Highly recommend.
The food is incredible, it never disappoints. Best spot in Belleville.
Great smoked salmon sandwich
Best cafe around Quinte area. They always make some fresh food & their patio gives perfect vibe of small french town. Don t forget to checkout their Special of the Day menu ! They always have something interesting and freshly made goods! I personally feel very comfortable and get the best guest experience every time I go to this amazing place in Downtown Belleville.
Over priced garabbbage. Too over rpiced for the food you get and so little and not even tasteful considering the vibe comes across as elegant I expect the food to be as well. Avoid.
Lovely place for a lunch. Obvious passion for amazing foods. And friendly service! So many beautiful and delicious choices - it was hard to choose. Front patio was a perfect spot to sit, chat and dine. Had the roasted veg sandwich. Desserts were very delicious. Strawberry pistachio cake - so good. Thanks
Authentic experience not to be missed. A must stop when visiting Bellville.
If Im ever in Belleville on a Saturday, I -have- to stop at LAuberge de France to pick up some fresh bread... and probably a croque monsieur.... and a pastry or dessert... and maybe some artisanal jams or interesting thing they have on the Bottega wall.
Awesome food. Great service.
You make the best bread in town. Your croissant are great but the bread is yummy! My weekends are always complete when my uncle brings a loaf for dinner
From time to time Im taking a trip from Toronto to Montreal, on the way Im making sure to make a stop at this lovely place. The food is beyond excellent, the atmosphere is very European, and the Hostess is the most warm person Ive ever met. This place is definitely kept with love, and you can taste and feel it
Our fave spot for delicious bites and coffee. Staff are truly wonderful.
Delicious food, very friendly staff. The kind and honest hospitality that is harder and harder to find nowadays. We always have to stop here when driving east on the 401. Thank you for the salmon sandwich Rebecca
My husband and I stopped by on a whim. Enjoyed a latte and dessert. Yummy!
Do you have a date with Paris? Then you must come here for food and even fine wine. Chef quality food to impress that special person in your life. Enjoy your favorite fare even outside, taking in the sights of urban life. The front shop even has much to offer and delight. Seating is also available inside but limited. Make sure to drop by on a Saturday to enjoy fresh baked croissants and more!
Coffee was excellent, service was friendly, croissant was delicious, and the sandwich was amazing. 10/10
Amazing place to go whenever you want! This time around was for lunch, I got a nice warmy sandwich with chicken and cheese. So yummy!
Food is great
Amazing place. Food is incredible and the staff and service is excellent. The woman at the front was running inside the shop and also our waitress as there was low staff but everything was still prompt and friendly. We tried a bit of everything and it was all delicious and made with such care.
This place deserves all the love. Lovely people, delicious sandwiches and baked goods (definitely try their almond croissant on Saturdays, it s the best). Their jam collection is just fantastic and the coffee is made with so much love, that it will make your day. Can t rave enough about this place.
Great spot for delicious food & service!!!! Ordered the chicken harvarti on Ekmek Turkish Bread(a honey bread) for lunch last week, outstanding! Walked over on Saturday morning to enjoy a cold lemonade & a fresh almond croissant. So so good! The staff are so friendly & accommodating. Theres spots to sit inside but the patio is perfect place to sit & enjoy as you hear french music playing softly in the background. Will definitely be enjoying this gem more often!!
Great food and service.
Amazing food!
Very cute place with sidewalk seating area reinforcing its French feel. Desserts are really nice - my wife had the rasberry cake, which was amazing and not something you would commonly find elsewhere. My kids shared a chocolate cake, which was also really good. I had a croissant, which is only available Saturdays so I thought it would be something special, but it was a disappointment. Thick layers of dough, bulky, not crispy. That is the only reason why I couldn t give them five stars.
A brilliant new find. We will be back....often. Thank you Food
Went for Breakfast. Cozy small place, friendly staff. Food is good, beverages are not up to mark. If you plan to sit outside/at the patio, just be ready to tackle with lots of bees.. they may get into your food.
Great time long live France
I feel like I stepped into a Paris bakery each time we go.
Best handmade hot chocolate I have ever had! Also bought a quiche home, so delicious!!! They also have good bread and cheese.
Fabulous Food Fantastic Service Wonderful Atmosphere Food : 5/5
Stopped in for a quick bite while passing through the area. My partner and I were really craving sandwiches and we picked THE BEST place! An authentic French patisserie with a French chef, we were not dissapointed. The havarti chicken sandwich with creamy pesto and buttery bread was fresh and had a perfect amount of each topping. The croque monsieur was verrry rich like an ultra high quality ham grilled cheese with bechamel . We were also tempted by all the beautiful desserts, and tried the strawberry and pistachio cake. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. And their in house espresso blend made a full bodied americano with notes of chocolate, caramel and nut. 100% will go again.
I literally don t know how this place gets good reviews it took sooo long to get our food and the food turned out to be such a disappointment. For $14 smoked salmon sandwich was the worst I ve ever eaten - the salmon was so salty and mushy, and the bread was crazy hard, either it was stale af or so overly baked. the coffee was incredibly bitter. the chocolatine BARELY had any chocolate and was so dry. The space is cute but solely based on food, I d give this place 0 stars. Waste of money.
Wonderful experience in this place!!! The sandwiches we had here were spectacular and the ambience was perfect as well. Fully recommended!
The hot chocolate is homemade and made with real chocolate from my understanding. It was to die for!!
The best sandwiches ive ever had. Plus lots of other delicious options and fresh baked breads. Warm welcoming staff and a strong cup of coffee. One of the best little gems in belleville.
Ordered lunch here for the first time. The roast beef sandwich was sooo good! Dissapointed we couldnt eat in, but oh well. Will definitely be back for another sandwich!
Lovely fresh made sandwiches. Great selection of French wines for purchase to take home.
It was a good experience!
Had roast beef sandwich, bun was hard as a rock... not good
Delicious food, especially the baguettes, they were very authentic. The atmosphere was amazing the music the staff and the decor made it feel like you were transported to a Cafe in Paris
Great little French inspired Cafe. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Sandwiches were phenomenal. The roast beef and brie on a baguette was the favorite of the day for us. Great selection of desserts as well. We will definitely return.
A fabulous place , with Real french food ! Recommend +++
Stopped in Belleville on my way to Toronto and it was worth it. Great people, family type of atmosphere. Food was excellent. Will visit again the next time I pass. Thx again!
Delicious!!! Excellent service!!
This is literally my first review, this place was so good that i had to review it. The staff was amazing and friendly, expect the blonde hair women that was in today. she acknowledge me right away and said she would be an few minutes ( which isn t an big deal at all) before helping another customer. she was very nice and talkative and made me feel welcome. another women, who i think was the cook help bring my food out and she was amazing as well. her smile was very warm. i got an small meal and it was really good, everything was wonderful, it was an really nice atmosphere, i will come back. it can be expensive but i will for sure go back
Delicious food! We had sandwiches, coffee and homemade ice cream! The grilled veggie sandwich I got was so good!! Vegetarian options: Grilled vegetable sandwich, milk alternatives
I recommend the Auberge de France, the service was excellent; the owner and his employees are welcoming and courteous. I recommended the Auberge de France, the service was excellent; the owner and his employees were welcoming and very courteous.
My Saturday must go spot in town! Love the food and friendly service!
Great food. Great staff.
Great service, good wine selection, tasty food and nice ambience
We were travelling towards Kingston and on our way there a friend recommended this cafe for Brunch. Hands down, one of the best sandwiches I ever had in my life. I was greeted with a lovely smile and had a sweet conversation with the lady on the counter. Thank you for the pleasant experience! :)
Belleville is lucky to have you. Staff/food/vibe-all amazing. Thank you!
Food is always top notch. The prices are reflective of the great quality. The whole family loves the Saturday morning croissants. Date nights here are always superb, so we dont mind the fancier pricing and slower pace. Great food should be enjoyed slowly.
Just had the rolled turkey Frozen entree. Truly amazing food... Everything I have had is very good but this is exceptional! Thank you!
The owner is from France, do I need to say more. If you want to experience genuine fresh delicious food from France but cant afford the plane ticket come here. They make fresh sandwiches daily like roast beef with brie cheese on a baguette. Or a roasted red pepper chicken sandwich and many more. They also sell fresh bread, crossents and baking goods. They turned the restaurant into a European grocery market. Alot of options and stock. The staff are friendly fast and genuine . Love this place and food. If you live in the area or just visiting you haft to go here.
LOVED dining here! Great atmosphere and the food! Tres bonne!
This is the best place in town. I m not a reviewer but I had to write this. We had a frozen duck a l orange dinner tonight that (reheated) was comparable to any high end restaurant I ve eaten at (and that s a few!) the croissants and bread and cheese and wine give my French soul joie de vivre in this town. Thank you for putting so much love into your food and service!
A lovely, cozy place with a great menu and a great selection of items to take home. I will surely visit again next time I am in Belleville.
A true gem of Belleville. Amazing sandwiches and soup. Amazing cheeses and wines. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Almond Croissants fresh baked on Saturday are to die for.
One of the gems of downtown Belleville!
Excellent bakery for desserts, and other baked items.
This place is the real deal. Not sure where else you can get quality like this in Belleville.
Disappointed to drive all the way here to find it closed when everything shows it as opened for takeout.
Awesome place! I stopped in this morning for the first time today. Breakfast croissant, pecan croissant and Americano all amazing, can t wait till the next time I m in town to stop in again. If I lived in Belleville I d be there everyday
Best smoked salmon sandwich
I am a regular at this place; their croissants are definitely to remember. Lovely people. Once my order got mixed up with someone elses, they apologized, and gave me extra croissants.
Where is the SIX-Star possibility ?! Almost every Saturday I come here to buy fresh bread and tasty croissants and/or delicious breakfast sandwich together with a double espresso. And sometimes some wine (red or white) to enjoy with dinner. Coming from Germany myself I truly enjoy the European flair of this French take-out/restaurant. Keep coming back.
Local, made in-house. Amazing selection of specialty products.
Love the friendly environment and wonderful food. Have done an excellent job during the pandemic making us feel safe! Amazing Saturday morning fresh croissants, bread all week and yummy desserts.
I just ordered a sandwich from lauberge. OMG, the best sandwich EVER in the history of sandwiches... This is best thing between sliced bread!
This is the second time i came to Prince Edward for cottage and both times I made sure I stop by this bakery . They have the most delicious sweets. And I made sure to bring some back to Toronto.
Love this place. Amazing and delicious food and deserts. And the croissants! Fantastique. And of course the service is always warm and friendly.
This review is a couple of months overdue. I would like to really thank Rebecca for the amazing charcuterie board she made and delivered for my friend s birthday. It was perfect and very much enjoyed! Truly appreciate all your hard work to make this happen for us!
My family and I love visiting here on Saturday mornings for fresh croissants! We also pick up cheese, bread and wine. This place is a one-stop shop.
Their roast beef and brie sandwich is the best sandwich I have ever had anywhere in the world. I havent tried their grocery or pasteries but they look good AF too.
Where is the SIX-Star possibility ?! Almost every Saturday I come here to buy fresh bread and tasty croissants and/or delicious breakfast sandwich together with a double espresso. And sometimes some wine (red or white) to enjoy with dinner. I highly recommended this place. Must try.
Sweet people served up a sweet and delicious homemade dessert. My waistline said, No!...but all my senses said, YES!!!...my sense obviously won that debate! And so very worth it!
BEST croissant in the region (Saturday mornings only). Pricey, but worth it and extremely luxurious. Croissants are usually sold golden yellow so you can heat/crisp them to golden brown at home in few minutes in the airfryer/oven. Brie filled croissants are even better but also cost a little more! I buy 8 at a time, freeze them, and indulge when feeling decadent.
Gives Belleville some caché. Excellent selection of european fine pastries, home made foods etc. Great vibe, excellent coffees, perfect to take out food, nice patio, good service. Loved it !
Fresh food , good service
Great little restaurant
Fantastic sandwiches
Loved the ambience and food. The peach tart and the tomato soup deserve special mention
Immersive atmosphere, great sandwiches and other French goodies. Perfect place for lunch but beware it gets super busy and may take a while to get food! Limited menu during the week. Saturday is the best day to go.
Wanted to love it and have a great place to get a proper croissant in the Belleville/PEC area, but that is not what this is. Discovered them online and preordered a bunch of croissant/chocolate croissants etc. today for the family. Croissants are kind of doughy, and not very flaky, more like an all-butter croissant from Walmart. I suspect they buy them pre-made from an industrial factory, or at a minimum buy the pre-made dough. Given that, we ended up cutting some in half and toasting them, which definitely improved them. Also, we got one raisin pastry, and I believe the raisins were off, as they tasted like vinegar, almost like they were beginning to ferment or something. Very nice store, however, with some nice imported goods. The patio looked pretty busy for a Saturday morning, and they had some nice looking sandwiches etc., but wont be back for the pastries/croissants. Better off buying the frozen ones from Costco and baking our selves.
Very nice staff, delicious food and their soup is a must try.
Wish Id gotten there earlier in the day to get some of their bread, but I went in just before close. Had a good Americano and the store itself had a great variety of gourmet items. The woman working behind the counter(s) was very friendly too.
Great staff, great ambience and really, really great food! Cant wait to come back!
I really like this place. Smoked salmon sandwich was great and the asparagus soup was also delish.
Update: I visited this Cafe this weekend with my family. It has lost its warm and cozy touch since my last visit. No longer is there seating inside and it has become more of a food market with long queues of lines. There is limited seating outside and we came earlier enough to find seating. My family and I collectively spent more than $100 on breakfast sandwiches, pastries, juice and coffees, including 2 lattes. I had failed to mention when ordering the 2 x 3.50 lattes that I had wanted decaf (Im very pregnant). I had dropped my pastry bag outside on the patio and promptly returned to notify a staff member that I would like the lattes decaf. She advised me it was too late they will not accommodate me and to get to the back of the line where I would have to pay for this mistake. And then they whisked away the 2 caffeinated lattes Id just paid for, with barely an opportunity to offer them to my family. My sister in law kindly waited in line to order a decaf latte for me and when she was waiting in line she overheard several staff members gossiping about me. The decaf latte that they had then brought out was scalding hot and oversteamed. Most of the other food items were good. Noting that my mom was disappointed with the croissants she has heard so much about. This was my second visit here and based on my experience with such poor, bitter customer service this time, I will not be returning nor will I recommend it. ------ Old review: This is such a cute little addition to downtown Belleville. It has a very warm, cozy feel with all the Parisienne touches. Service was quick and kind and coffee was delicious. The croissant, which is said to be best enjoyed on a Saturday morning when theyre freshly baked, was pretty good; however, I will be excited to try other things off their menu next time. They had a very enticing lunch menu offered, but I was visiting for coffee. Overall, I would highly recommend, and will certainly revisit.
Bread, sandwiches and the croissants are excellent! They also have European products that you can t find elsewhere. All the family loved it!
Everything they serve is so fresh, and is some of the tastiest homemade food Ive ever had. It is a little more expensive, but I expect to pay a little extra in order to receive such high quality foods made with fresh sourced ingredients.
Good selection of items, interesting selection of sandwiches
First time in. Lady gave excellent description of desserts. Purchased a caramel/almond paste mousse, raspberry cake and quiche to take home. All was delicious. Was told they make fresh croissants on Saturdays . Will definitely be back.
This cafe has been the best thing that ever happened to me. The roast beef sandwich was a god send. Thank you for the absolute pleasure of eating here
Favourite place in Belleville. Wonderful pastries, great selection of wine, delicious French classics, and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.

Excellent breakfast sandwich, fresh baked croissants and breads make this a must visit on Saturdays!
Live this place and the authenticity!
The first thing I noticed when walking in is the rooster theme!! Great care into making sure that quality is delivered in every dish. The smoked salmon on charcoal bread is grand, the coffee blend is amazing and the desserts are all grand! Lovely little gem downtown Belleville.
Great to find places with great brunch
Best in the city. They go above and beyond to make sure their guests have a wonderful experience. Appetizing lunch choices and delicious desserts serviced in a nicely decorated french bistro. Be sure to reserve a seat at their chefs table events before they sell out or on Saturdays for fresh homemade french croissants and baked goods! A must visit.
Love this place! I wish they showed up earlier in my life but they dont ever pop up in Googles food suggestions. Saturday fresh bread and love their desserts.
Very friendly staff n kind..food is bonne
First time visiting this darling restaurant. Sat on patio. The food was delicious and the homemade fries were to die for. Their french lemonade was refreshing and the iced latte was very good. Desserts looked luscious.
Their croissants are THE BEST!
Delicious desserts and fresh pastries!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely going to back :)
First discovered this gem in September when they participated in the post porchfest downtown restaurant event. Warm, friendly atmosphere, great music that allowed for conversation. Good wine and food and the charcuterie was the best we have ever had, and at a great price.
Very delicious sandwiches and deserts. I will have to try the croissants when they are in stock! Pre order would probably be recommended as they seem to always be out when I go.
Best place for brunch in Belleville. They have a nice patio outside that you can chill too. I got iced latte, chocolate croissant, ham swiss sandwich, and vegeterian quiche. Excellent selection and I had no complaints. Highly recommend !
We enjoyed the food and beverages, would have given 5 stars except we were very disappointed and concerned regarding their Covid-19 safety measures. The worker touched communal objects, our drinks and our food with bare hands. We didn t see any hand washing or sanitizing of the payment machine in between customers. Good cafe but we felt uncomfortable here.
I Love the French Place, anytime I have to go to Belleville, which I am not really into, I have to go here...the food is amazing, the staff are wonderful and they have great wine...lots of frozen prepared options to take home...coffee they will grind for you...the best thing about Belleville is The French Place!!!!!!!!!
As close to France as one can get. Awesome to have this restaurant here. We have eaten here many times, and also do takeout for croissants and bread. The only downside is service and payment for food can be very slow. Worth going here for sure.
Incredible croissants made fresh for Saturday!!
Ive become addicted to their coffee roast! The roast beef sandwich is my favourite, with close seconds not far behind! Both before and during the pandemic, their croissants have been a highlight for the family. Their chef dinners, both in-house and to-go have yet to disappoint! Bon appetit!
After searching for a coffee shop and a bakery for a long time on a Saturday morning we stumbled upon this little restaurant / cafe / store. Great selection of tasty sandwiches and pastries.
Fresh, unique dishes and sandwiches with homemade bread and others like home smoke ham! Great place to start into the day as well as for lunch
Food was great. A nice little French cafe in downtown Belleville.
A quaint little place with excellent food and delicious homemade ice cream in the summer time. I always get the smoked salmon sandwich and its delicious. Great assortment of takeaway foods as well. I got some after I had my daughter and they were so good.
So tasty!!
Coffee great, bought almond and chocolate croissant. Older blonde server, rude and indifferent when the croissant was saturated with marzipan and basically said take it as is thats the way it comes. When we are trying to shop local and you meet that rude indifference you start to wonder why make the effort. A little staff retraining in politeness might be a good start.
We had a very nice dinner there. Squash soup and sandwich. Would definitely go again.
Really good food.
