Tanjore North Indian Cuisine in Belleville

After 6 years of living in Belleville, and eating lots of Indian around the area and outside the country. I think Tanjore is great. Food is really good and I feel the prices are good. Newly renovated as well and takes sit down service. Best Indian in Belleville.

I am not an Indian person but I am an expert in Indian food.. This restaurant deserves five stars.. Delicious food exactly as ordered.. and the workers here are very kind

I love this restaurant! Ive had takeout probably 15 times since I first started ordering from them and every time the food has been wonderful. The thali tray lunch specials are very, very good, vegetarian or with meat. Anthony Bourdain said (on his CNN Parts Unknown show) that northern Indian cuisine is the only food that could make him consider becoming a vegetarian, and the vegetable dishes from Tanjore do the same for me! Their pricing is great, ranging from $10 for a lunch thali (the Naan is made fresh on the spot, a real treat) to $12 for a vegetable or paneer dish, to $14 for a meat dish. They recently renovated so they now have a sit-down dining space. I highly recommend Tanjore. Ill finish with saying that everyone working there is polite and friendly. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Not worth trying

First of all, The staff is not at all interested in asking about the food quality and taste. It was not at all worth eating, We left veg and non veg thali as it as. Food was bland and the butter chicken was super sweet. Not at all worth.

We just got back home from Tanjore. I am not disappointed. Not only was the staff the most welcoming friendly people you d meet, the atmosphere with pleasant senses of smells made you want to be there. At first we were the only table sitting but it was not long after that the restaurant was full. Kay, the son of the family made us feel so welcome. His character and professional attitude gave us an overwhelming satisfaction for being there. It s been a long time since I had that personal experience at a restaurant. The food had to be the best India cuisine I ve ever had in Belleville. I could have had it hotter which I asked for but to be fair on their end, what s too much? Kay assured me next time he can make it hotter for me. That s all I need to hear. Thank you to those who recommended Tanjore. I will definitely be returning. It was a pleasure and my taste buds and tummy are happy!! I highly recommend. Cheers

I visited this place after it recently reopened after renovations. Very welcoming atmosphere and the food is by far the best Indian food I ve ever had! I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was so so so good. We also had a bunch of appetizers which were all super delicious too. I highly recommend this spot.

We made a stop here on our way to Ottawa and were stunned by the amazing flavours and taste of the food they serve at Tanjore! Highly recommended to anyone who is craving authentic Indian food. Samosa, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and aloo paratha with dahi were fantastic! Parking: $1 an hour city parking lot right next to Tanjore.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Everything about the transaction was easy. The food was excellent although a bit higher cost than I planned but thats inflation. Butter chicken was phenomenal and creamy. I havent had Pulau rice since being in the UK where you can find it everywhere, so that was really nice to have and very well done. Excellent Biryani as well. My only wish would be the butter chicken had a few more chicken pieces. Overall will definitely be back. Vegetarian options: They have multiple vegetarian dishes. Lots to choose from..

We have had good food at Tanjore in the past, but when we ordered take out yesterday, the food was bland and rushed. The lamb korma was alright, but watery, with less meat than sauce. The butter chicken was relatively unspiced, even compared to before. More like tomato soup. The paneer was average, and thankfully , the samosas were their usual excellent. It will be some time before we return, and hopefully they will have sorted out their issues.

I had the butter chicken and unfortunately didnt enjoy it at all. It was the worst butter chicken Ive ever had. The chicken was tough and the sauce had absolutely no flavour to it. I guess I should have known when the staff didnt ask me if I wanted mild, medium or hot spice when I placed my order. Any other Indian restaurant Ive ordered from in the past have always asked. I wont be ordering from there again...

Yesterday I ordered a malai kofta for take out and after eating this I got food poisoning and my stomach is disturbed from yesterday till now. I can t eat anything else. I don t know what did they put in it but the experience was really disappointing. I am suffering from stomach pain now.

Best Indian food in the east end. If you re anywhere near the Belleville area I highly recommend this place. Must haves are the garlic naan, onion naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken and the secret onions! I drive 2 hours to eat this food and highly highly recommend. Always served with a smile on their face!

Drove all the way here, no indication anywhere online that dine in is closed. No reason for them to be closed, they just dont feel like working. Call ahead and make sure they re in the mood to serve you before you make the trip. I actually lost money as I paid for parking!

Its the best Indian food, maybe the best food in the city. Small, local family-run and everything is made fresh. They have a real tandoor oven and everything is delicious. Vegetarian options: Lots and good ones, their Veg lunch Thali plate is really good.

I was in town for business and saw the restaurant while driving by. I went and got Paneer Makhni, 2 x Naan for dinner. Well, aside the restaurant seeming dark, inside seating closed off, the food was AMAZING. One of the best paneer makhni I have ever had. Freshly made, right amount of spices and the gravy was velvet smooth. I will definitely be repeating. I wish i got their names but the young man (muscular) who took my order, could be a bouncer but was very eloquent, professional and the uncle and aunty were such pleasant energy that it reflected in the freshly made food. Great experience, do recommend and will repeat!! Deepak.

Very poor quality food. Within an hour and half of eating chicken biryani and chicken Tikka, my kids 10yr old and 7 yrs old started having vomiting and diarrhea.. If this is the result we get from an indian restaurant, please stop ordering food from here.. Worst food ever.

Never order Roganjosh. They serve butter chicken sauce and call in vindaloo. Thats scamming people in the area.Also vindaloo needs to have potatoes thats what aloo means

Ordered chicken tikka and kadai chicken. Moderate taste. Both had similar taste. But kadai had extra termeric which kept my hands yellow whole day

I would say the only Indian restaurant in Belleville where I had a delightful food experience. Their variety of chicken curries amazes me. Do not forget to order their garlic naan and chicken tikka.

Great food, very well made. Best North Indian food I have had this side of Mississauga. Vindaloo was great, garlic naan amazing, chicken tikka and tikka masala both excellent. Pakora is like chicken fingers (Im used to it being beaten flat) but still very good, samosa was terrific, biryani extremely flavourful. Papri chaat was perfect to cool the old mouth down when the vindaloo kicked in. Very reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food you get.

Lunch special I had today was amazing. First time to stop in but it wont be the last. See you soon.

The chicken tikka masala is SOOO good! Especially the naan (1pc pr order) I came in a ordered for pick up (done in unavailable atm) and was so amazed with the customer service and being able to watch the staff kitchen cook. All the younger staff were very polite and very hard working. Watching the older man make naan and then the woman take it out was very cool to watch! Definitely one of my favourite spots and would recommend to anyone who enjoyed Indian or just great food in general!

Never order food from here. I ordered shahi peneer and told them to make it spicy but they forgot to put the spices in it was tasteless. Worst place to order food.

Just had very bad experience specially with that lady who works there. She welcome me in a very bad way. Before I order she start shouting on me that you have to wait for 20 minutes. I know I have to wait but the way she shouted on me which was totally unacceptable for any other customer. although I was not new to the store. Tanjore North Indian Cuisine is a culinary delight that everyone should experience. Edit: It has been about a year since first reviewing Tanjore North Indian Cuisine. My family and I have tried numerous dishes, from Bhoona Masala, Gosht Patiala to Vindaloo and Bombay Fish curry to vegetarian dishes such as Dal Tadka and Dal Makhni (Both of which our toddler adores!). Our Favourite appetizers are the Paneer Pakoras and Onion Bajji. Every single dish that we order has been outstanding, full of flavour and worthy of praise! The food is not only the best Indian food around but also the best food around period. Not a single complaint! We love your cuisine! Thanks again for providing such incredible food to our community!

We had a huge call in take out order last weekend for a family celebration. They were gracious with our crazy order, helpful with suggestions, quick to get it ready and super friendly. The best part is every single thing we ordered was hot and delicious. We had 8 different dinners; butter chicken, korma, Rogan Josh, a couple of paneers, Tika masala, Malai chicken, two Biryanis - lamb and chicken, and a large amount of naan. Oh and a great deal of onion Bhaji. Every single thing was fabulous.

Not impressed. I get home and notice the butter chicken I ordered doesnt come with any rice. At a price of $10.99 you would think it would have rice. I asked for butter chicken spicy and received a very mild sauce that tasted like zoodles tomato sauce. The chicken pieces were the only redeeming quality. The best part of the order was the naan. It was delicious. My least favorite Indian restaurant in Belleville.

As an Expat Brit, Ive eaten lots of Indian food, Tanjore is easily the best Indian food in the area. Food is always excellent , ready on time and steaming hot. Onion Bhaji is to die for . many thanks to the excellent staff and chef.

These folks are doing a great job, food is delicious and super healthy vegetarian dishes. Thanks....now just some Kingfisher beers and we are good to go.

We were first time customers at the restaurant and we were able to dine in with a reservation. We had ordered the non vegetable lunch special to try out an assortment of food and it was really great. We both throughly enjoyed it. It was served hot and fresh. The naan was also served right off the stove and it was delicious! The service was great too. I would diffinately try this restaurant again. What I didnt like was that, we asked to sit where we wanted to sit (which was more farther apart from the one other table that was occupied) and we were not allowed to And that when we arrived we were asked to physically produce our identification and honestly Id rather stay home next time and order take out.

Probably the only Indian Restaurant around the town. We ordered Non Veg Thali, Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken for takeaway. Non veg thali included Butter Chicken, Goat Curry, and a choice of one veg curry. The butter chicken gravy was very sweet, and the chicken was hard to chew. The goat curry was decent and well-cooked. We were also served 1 Roti, rice, salad and Gulab Jamun along with it, which were all fine. For veg curry, we got Kadhai Paneer which was also had gravy similar to the butter chicken and paneer cubes, though were many, but were very chewy. In snacks, both chicken tikka and tandoori chicken were properly cooked, well marinated and tasted the best.

The menu on the website is hard to read. The vegetable dish with creamy sauce had only a handful of frozen carrots and peas. The naan bread had no flavour. The chicken dish was swimming in sauce and was not very tasty.

We ordered the Bombay fish curry, Tandoori chicken along with the Aloo Gobi, Navrattan Korma, samosa and onion bajji for my Mothers day feast and we were very happy with the quality of the food and the value for our money, thanks it was delicious and we will be returning soon!

We ordered a bunch of dishes, about $60 worth of food from here, through UberEats, and it came in about a half-hour. WE ARE IN HEAVEN. This food, which they made vegan for us, is DELICIOUS!! Its beautifully spiced. The vegetable biryani rice is divine. The aloo tikki, the lentil daal, the aloo gobi, the stuffed garlic light bread, just EVERYTHING, is absolutely delicious and satisfying. Thank you so much for being here and making such great food to share!

I had called this restaurant to check if they are available and open, they did not respond to two phone calls. After arriving at the place they stated that they cant take my order because they have too many orders of their own went to royal haveli and even though they were busy they provided me a great meal!

We could barely have a conversation about anything else because we were too busy taking a bite and then going, MMmM! Oh, man! Yes! Wowsa! Yes ... their food is that good. Very amazed at the quality, portioning and prices. For those wanting to try Indian Food for the first time (or introduce it to your kids) and think its too spicy, you can relax knowing that their goal is not to provide edible rocket fuel, like other Indian restaurants, but elegantly flavoured food that is highly palatable and extremely tasty without the pain. I gotta say he makes the best butter chicken I have ever tried, me and my coworkers, always order from here, if you order for take out make sure you place your order in advance, if not you will have to wait a couple min. The Naan is always perfect a 10/10, only thing I always order a non veg thali, and butter chicken instead of goat, but yesterday they said I couldnt have butter chicken/ butter chicken instead of goat. They said yes for dine in and open until 7.30pm, Went there 6 pm and we were told do you have reservation, I said no but I called in and asked for dine in so we came. First time ordering here. The staff were all very nice, polite, and professional. However, the food wasn t good. The naan had great texture but was heavily slathered in what tasted like butter and not ghee. The butter chicken was very dairy heavy and rich, it lacked spice and was reminiscent of Campbell s tomato soup if made with milk. The chicken vindaloo (requested extra extra hot ) was as mild as the cream used in the butter chicken and quite watery. The onion bhaji were Ok. Overall, the food had little flavour, no chili heat, and way too much dairy.

Their food is delicious! Hands down this is our favorite indian restaurant in the area after trying all of them. Prices are pretty middle of the road, not cheap, but not expensive enough to make you hesitate. Our recommendations are the paneer makhni, butter chicken, and korma for curries, the tandoori chicken is to die for, and their naan is fresh made, super soft and the perfect snack.

Im a big fan of Indian food. This restaurant is a gem in Belleville and I go often for the lunch special! Delicious and super affordable. Stop reading and get down here already!

Horrible service! Server was rude,arrogant and disrespectful! I had reservation for 4 people and she didn t even take our order properly. I ask my dish to be spicy and i got mild instead. When I called her back to confirm with her, she said it was so I didn t bother her after she gave me dirty looks. Then in the end of the meal she says that she has to clean and sanitize the table and would appreciate if we didn t touch everything as she would have to sanitize even the chairs n the next table next to ours. So many things went wrong. I hope the owner see this review as I didn t want to tell her off as I was with company. First of all, respect me as I came in with respect; I even booked a reservation for dine in. Don t give me dirty looks when I tell you there s something wrong with the food. Take it back and replace it please, don t tell me that it s spicy because I have taste it and so had everyone on the table to tell me that s not spicy. Afterwards, you are trying to teach us not to touch tables and chairs?!? Like what? If you want to continue running a successful restaurant during covid times, you must sanitize everything, including your hands and the table. Now, I don t understand why there was a need at the end of the meal telling us not to touch when you could have easily just said good bye to us and do your job which is finishing serving us and cleaning tables. Honestly bad experience, it s not even worth it.
