Dinkel's & Paulo's Restaurants in Belleville

This is one of my favorite places for a date night, the food and service is always amazing.

I absolutely enjoyed this awesome place! Authentic Italian cuisine, great service! Tansy is incredible! Feels like I am in Italy

Parking: Great service mediocre steak Food

We enjoyed a late lunch here today while visiting my daughter in Belleville. It felt like we were dining in Italy! Our server was so gentle and professional, advising on wine pairing, showing us dishes, and pleasantly chatting with us about the restaurant and the dishes, as well as events happening in Belleville that day. Two of us chose the price fixed menu, and two had individual dishes. We werent hurried, our food was served promptly and the portions were really large. We had to take our dessert home. My only wish was that one dessert choice could be tiramisu, or other Italian style dessert.

Had an amazing anniversary dinner here. The food was fabulous. Kim, our server was prompt, knowledgeable and funny which only enhanced the experience. Looking forward to returning soon

Service very friendly but understaffed. This place is big, and decorated like a Mediterranean TV soap opera set from 1985; Friday night and ONE person in kitchen? Pizza was ok, I mean, how hard is 2 basic pizzas, a Caesar salad and 2 beers? With 15% tip due to lateness of food, it was $100. Like, no wonder people stay home and cook on their $1200 BBQs. Dining out is NOT what it used to be. Oh, and NO BREAD to eat while we waited nearly an hour for our food?? This is an ITALIAN restaurant right? Bread, butter? FFS.

We had a great afternoon there!!! Very accommodating but our server, Krista, was amazing! She added to our afternoon! Will definitely go there next time in Belleville!!!

Wonderful forgotten gem in beautiful downtown Bellevilles core. The food was stellar, the service even better!

Over priced.

Venue was beautiful and they accommodated our group of 17 in a private room nicely set up. The waitress was the best and the desserts were delicious but as for the main meals they were mediocre, not worth the price. No liquor was bought and the bill came to $774.00. I was able to call each person with us and 8 out of 17 stated their meals were cold and not very appetizing and will not return. Im very disappointed with this as it was our first time here and we were looking forward to a great meal with our family That being said, upon talking to the manager, he was very polite and apologetic. He stated that he was going to check into what may have caused this to happen. He also relayed that he likes to hear from patrons about their dining experience good or bad so they can continue to provide excellent service. Upon ending our conversation he offered my husband and I to come back and try another meal on the house.

Dinkel s and Paulo s is a wonderful place to eat and share time with your friends and family! We have dined here many times over the years, but recently I made a reservation to celebrate my wife s 70th birthday at the restaurant and it was a perfect experience, from the friendly and helpful staff handling my reservation and plans, to the amazing server who helped to make the night a success. The food was delicious, with a wide variety available from the former Paulo s and Dinkel s menu (we loved dining at both places back when they were separate restaurants). Our server was so friendly, thoughtful and professional - I would like to thank her for making us all feel special and enjoy ourselves in a warm comfortable place!

Excellent! Both the food and service were top notch. I dont normally order pasta is a restaurant, but I lost my mind for a moment. No regrets. The chef is having a good time in the kitchen. You can taste it.

Chicken marsala and veal scalapini are amazing.

Enjoyed a nice dinner here . Only con was how pricey the beer was $28 for two drafts ? I thought that was a little steep .

Our dining experience began with a Caesar salad, for myself and for my husband fresh mussels. The fresh mussels were served in a tasty wine sauce with chopped onion garlic, and fresh herbs. The mussels were cooked perfectly by Chef, Paul Travis. They were plump and fresh tasting, not the least bit gritty. I have had many Caesar salads, but none compared to the freshness and taste of the one I had at Dinkels. For my husband the entree consisted of two Beef tournedos wrapped in bacon, served with roasted potatoes and fresh broccoli and baby carrots. The beef was tender and flavorful. The tournedos were definitely a hit. I truly enjoyed the tender chicken breast marinated with fresh lemon thyme. I was definitely impressed with this dish. The chicken was so juicy and full of flavor. It paired nicely with the baby roasted potatoes, fresh carrots and broccoli all Ontario grown. Upon saying a farewell to the sun and enjoying the now gentle summer breeze our meal came to an end with dessert. I savoured every last bite of my caramel apple cheesecake. I cant even describe how wonderful it was. My husband enjoyed the triple mouse chocolate raspberry cake, which was absolutely delicious I might ad. Both desserts were served with diced strawberry, kiwi and drizzled syrup. Overall, the food, service, and ambience made for a great relaxing fine dining experience.

Professional and competent staff. Lovely and warm environment and of course, great tasty food with beautiful presentation.

Dinkels is fine dining at its best. The atmospere is engaging. Mr Dinkel traveled extensively, throughout Europe, and amongst many things, he has collected a wide range of inspiring musical genres (Pavlo to name one), and artifacts, that are a wonderful asset to the dining atmosphere. As well, Dinkels has an enclosed patio location which is beautiful.

Best romantic atmosphere

A bit disappointed. Tuesday night. Dinner for two. Place got to about half full. Server seemed overwhelmed so service was slow but we weren t in a hurry. Dinner was over two hours. Got the caesar salad which was good. Long wait for the entrees but again, we weren t in a hurry. Got the seafood linguine. It s $34 for pasta so was expecting some decent seafood. Portion was small for a 6 4 , 250lb man. Pasta was cooked very nicely and sauce was delicious. There were 6 mussels, 3 shrimp and some of that fake crab meat tossed into the pasta. About $3 worth of ingredients. Was a lovely dinner out but not good value in my opinion.

It is a fantastic place to enjoy delicious food.

Warm welcoming staff, excellent service. Beautiful courtyard. Had the crab cakes, salads, and pizza. Everything was delicious as it always is.

It was my familys first time dining in at Dinkels & Paulos Restaurant. The experience was definitely superb. The food was excellent! For appetizers we started off with the French onion soup and calamari. The French onion soup was okay but the calamari was really good. For mains My husband got the grilled salmon with Caesar salad and I got the creamy pesto pasta I think it was called Roberto linguine. The Salmon was cooked really well and had a lot of flavour, the pesto linguine came with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes, now this was amazing , I finished the entire plate it was just that good. Overall rating 10/10, would definitely go back the next time we are in Belleville.

I was disappointed quite frankly. $14 + tax for a glass of Steam Whistle is gouging. We had 3 appetizers, all underwhelming: Calamari was bland (obviously previously frozen packaged food), Bruschetta on pizza crust (I should have known better) and their version of charcuterie was also average at best. On the positive side, portions, service and atmosphere were good. Overall high price for food (especially drinks) that is unimaginative and lower quality ingredients.

The courtyard is such a lovely setting for lunch and the service was very good. However food still as disappointing as my last visit. Crab cakes were a soft paste with a crispy coating. Last visit, pizza was badly burnt, escargots dry under a thin flaky pastry.

We went there for dinner Thursday, the lamb chops were delicious. Highly recommended and will be back next time we visit Belleville

Specials are the same every time we dine there. Guess they are not rally specials if they have been the same for over 3 months. Really disappointed with crab and shrimp pasta. The crab was the fake crab. Parking: Parked a block away

Our bill came to 112.00 including tip for 2 people . I find your prices a little steep and that is with one small beer. Coffee was $3.50, $12 each for gelato and youre special were overpriced but quite good. And I say quite because I found my trout shrimp dish too many shrimps and not enough trout. The bread that you brought to the table at the beginning was four tiny pieces and that has changed since the last time we were in. We would get a little loaf of bread not four a little slices. All in all we didnt go away hungry but we would probably not come back for quite a long time because of the price.

Disappointing food at lunch 2 weeks ago. Mango chicken - a chicken breast with sweet sauce poured on it. The accompanying caesar salad had no robust flavour, just a mild vinaigrette and a few microscopic shreds of parmesan. The service and surroundings were fine.

The atmosphere of the dining area is great. The food is too expensive for what you get. For an upper scale restaurant, the butter came in small plastic peel off containers like what you would get at McDonalds. Tomassos in Trenton is a much better restaurant. Will not be coming back.

The food was amazing good prices for the quality

The venue itself it beautiful and very inviting. Then food on the other hand is lacking a lot for the price you pay. For 6 of us the bill was $438!! For very mediocre food. Veal was more like liver, calamari was rubbery and was like from a freezer bag from Walmart. Escargot were minuscule and came with a square of puff pastry on top which wasn t mentioned on the menu at all in case someone was celiac! Chicken parmesan was over cooked and very dry. If you re going to charge $27+ for a plate of food it had better be cooked properly! We didn t have steak and lobster just normal Italian food. And there were 2 cocktails, 1 beer and 1/2 litre house wine. Needless to say we won t be going back.

Courtyard, a great experience

Servers were excellent, efficient & very friendly. I had the Linguine Roberto, it was ok, (no pine nuts) definitely not worth $24.50, the bread was fresh, warm & delicious!

Very quiet, homey setting - great atmosphere overall, wonderful cheerful and friendly staff and of course the food and drinks are top-notch in quality. Not a budget option by any means, but the pricing seems reasonable for the quantity, quality and service that youre getting. We have never left here without feeling pleasantly stuffed, and usually with a carry out box in tow. This is one of our go-to places for special occasions - birthdays, date nights and anniversaries - so we have tried more than half of the pasta options, several of the other entrées and almost all of the pizzas and everything we have tried has been fantastic. Desert has been good when weve had room for it. Some excellent inexpensive wines are on the regular menu, but lately we have been going with whatever Italian beer is in stock and havent been disappointed there either. Overall, simply a really fine Italian restaurant which is very unlikely to disappoint.

Three different perfectly prepared main courses tonight for us and a close friend. Crab cakes too to start. Very nice evening.

I really wanted this place to be good but I unfortunately found it disappointing. The service was slow and moreover quite unpleasant. The appetizer was good but the main course, which was the special, was far from the standards of an excellent restaurant. I hope some improvements are seen in the future as the atmosphere is lovely.

Delicious, great service, great value. We shared a large Greek salad that was piled high with top quality peppers, cucumbers, feta, olives & lettuce. Margherita pizza was delicious and a generous size. Mango chicken was perfect with grilled veggies. Desert chocolate truffle cake shared, with cappuccinos. Very friendly staff and a comfortable indoor/outdoor patio.

The experience started with we have no reservation for you sir Followed by the wrong wine opened before I was able to see label. And one of our entrees was not at all what we ordered with no concern by the server to correct it. Food was great but they do need to spend more time and concern to details.

I order a garden salad, I thought the garden salad supposed to be green , what we got instead was the leafs stumps , looks like a leftover completely white ,when we make salad at home we throw that stuff out

This restaurant is a real gem! Our favorite place in Belleville! Beautiful location downtown, very pretty from outside too. The decor inside has a memorable European atmosphere, classy and cosy at the same time. The staff is amazing, knowledgeable and experienced, extremely kind. The food was delicious and such a pleasure to the eyes. Everything was clean, even the kitchen was in order! Congratulations Dietary restrictions: The pizza can be ordered with regular or gluten free dough. Kid-friendliness: Childrens menu offered some kid favourites. We ordered a pizza which had a much lower price than the regular pizza, but with the same size. Such a lovely gesture! We took the leftovers in a take away box and our kid will enjoy them on the next day.

Nice restaurant good atmosphere

We had the pleasure of stopping by yesterday from our way montreal-Toronto and it was completely delicious!! The plates are very very well served!! We had the chicken parmigiana 10/10, pizza fireze 10/10, so segnore 10/10 and calamari 10/10! Very good service and we will be definitely coming back! Thank you!

Very expensive restaurant. $35 plus tax for a Lunch special.

Service was excellent for my fathers birthday as was the venue, however found it very overpriced. The food was good but not what you pay for. Only been here twice but last time was in 2006 and didnt fine much of a change regarding food I had escargot and woodfired pizza with garlic bread shared with my wife. The bread was the best of the three. Not that the food tasted bad but Ive had much better at same or lower price. Its been around for a while and was busy but I wont be back.

Lovely ambience; the owners truly care about this place and have done a huge amount of work to make it warm and inviting. The shaded patio is a bonus in the summer months. Food is delicious and portions generous. Highly recommended.

Always enjoy coming....the food is delicious. We often ordered take-out during the lock-downs and were delighted with their food...plus they always added free dessert and hot herb bread. We felt treated special. Thank you Dinkels!

The food and ambiance was fantastic. Our server, Krista was exceptional and was a delight to interact with. Food was incredible and quickly served. Pricing was worth it, in my opinion. There are NOT many spots like this. Combine the flavors with the ambiance and the staff, well worth it. Will be back again!

So disappointing. This restaurant lacks consistency. We celebrated my husband s birthday - his steak was not cooked to specification, my pasta was cold and harder than al dente, as was our dinner companion s. You pay premium price we but receive substandard food, as well as service. The bills were split incorrectly and the server was highly unprofessional addressing as as love, sweetie, lady. Previously it has been a more positive experience. We do not recommend and won t be back. Dietary restrictions: There is no gluten free bread option; gluten free pasta option $4.25

We ordered the Quintelicious menu (take out) and it was amazing! Huge portions, delicious food and lovely presentation. Well definitely be back and look forward to dining in person in the near future.

Had 3 Apps and a Main. The meat app had two meats on it one of which was a cooked sausage and the other a bland salami. The vegetables were from a bag of frozen veggies from the grocery store. All 3 apps had pretty much the same thing on the plates. Pasta was brutal and the rack of lamb was bland and really bad . Started to rain they put down all the swings except where people were sitting Will never go back unfortunately

Nice atmosphere, great service. Ceasar salad with anchovies best I ever had, authentic. We were able to get a special needs stroller wheelchair into back court yard.

We got there last minute before closing. We were welcomed and got a table right away. Alberto took care of us. The food that he suggested was amazing. We loved thr service and the food .. prices are reasonable. We will visit again anytime we are in the area.

What a delight!! Sat in the open courtyard and it felt as if I was in Italy itself. And then the food came...delicious! HUGE salads! Mouth watering pizza and fantastic pasta dishes. Highly recommended even if you are driving through.

Fantastic experience! They have a lovely COVID-friendly setup with a heated patio in the back, the service is friendly and excellent, and the food is delicious! Definitely will come back here whenever we are in town. Really enjoyed the festive atmosphere for the holidays, too. Thank you!

We had a great meal on a nice heated patio. We got a blue cheese penne and a spinach and bacon salad. Both were tasty and original. Appreciate their COVID efforts to provide indoor and outdoor options. Server was great!

We had very friendly servers who offered helpful recommendations, and checked in on us frequently (but not in an overbearing way). The portions are beyond generous, so sharing is definitely encouraged. The ingredients tastes fresh, and each dish had a complementary flavour profile.

The food was amazing!!! Especially the beef tenderloin!

Cheese ball appetizer was delicious but too big for one person (to still be able to eat entree), the table could have easily shared. Mango chicken was succulent... and because I was full from the appetizer I can confidently inform you it reheats well the next day. Cocktails were nothing special, I found service friendly but another person in my group disagrees with my assessment on this aspect.

Ordered the Veal and for taste it was great. Now keep in mind the Veal was literally no larger than a McDonalds cheese burger patty, so a bit hard to tell the true taste in the 6 bites. Bread didnt show up till long after my salad was digesting. I was shocked at the small portion. I was certainly hungry after this meal and had to stop on the way home for a burger. Which was more filling. I think double the Veal would be required with out doubt. My friend beside me actually ordered a meal too. but it never showed up. Her father ordered cheese toast and it looked amazing with a large portion. Amanda had chicken and it was adequate but neither of us are sure we would attempt another visit. This was at Dinkels.

Although Paulos serve gluten free pizza (adequate) and pasta (really awful) their wait staff are ignorant as to what menu items are gluten friendly so beware of all recommendations!

Poor reception service

Food was fresh but preparation was lackluster - the qinoa salad was watery and the chicken pasta salad had uncooked pasta. Not the most appetizing lunch spot. Another tip on hot and humid days try not to open the restaurant doors - makes for a very hot and humid seating area!

My mom, daughter and I are went there for dinner this evening and we had a great time. We had a wonderful seat beside the fireplace, we had great service and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be returning. It was a great night all around.

Convenient downtown location. Paulos Trattoria, Italian fare and wood fired thin crust pizza, Dinkels, (next door) for formal dining, receptions and group luncheons. Sidewalk patio and private courtyard options. Courteous staff and good food.

If you have never been to Paulos youre missing out! Staff is amazing and Paul knows how to treat his customers right.

went last Sunday night - my friend got Caesar chicken salad - hardly any dressing, 3 croutons, no fresh Parmesan cheese - terrible - mine wasnt much better Ravioli with tomato sauce tasted like canned, again no fresh Parmesan cheese , very bland. A ginger ale and a coffee - Bill came to 57.00 - terrible service - the worse meal we have had in a very long time.

Food good..they ran out of Caesar salad ingredients and served a few pieces of lettuce topped with parmenson. No dressing. .not good..service was hurried

Pleasant surroundings, good food and service. The downside is the downtown core location with limited meter parking.

Food is good and ok selection of wine

Cook was nice enough to make a special Italian dish for us. However, the tables inside could be replaced, for the price I should not get paper napkins and the service was quite long.

The courtyard provides an oasis with it s fountain and ivy covered walls. It is truly a step into Italy without leaving Belleville. The food, service, and ambiance makes for a great relaxing fine dining experience.

Fantastic lunch in the Courtyard. Forgot for a moment, thought I might be in an expensive restaurant in Europe. Tipped overs 20%, unusual for me...

Had a most enjoyable and delicious lunch there with 2 friends from out of town. They were very impressed with the restaurant and the service! Prices were not exhorbitant and in line with any fast food chain restaurant plus the bonus of freshly made food as compared to processed items! We will be back, for the curry chicken pizza for sure!
