Magnificent inn with exceptional views of the river and 2 islands. Lush garden conducive to relaxation for the pleasure of the eyes. High-end French cuisine and service. Unfortunately very expensive because of the noisy environment near route 132 and the inconvenient bathroom worthy of another century. Unfortunately not worth the asking price... Rooms: Unfortunately very unequal in terms of comfort; squeaky and narrow beds for the most part, a renovation would be more than useful, and urgently. No fridge, shared bathroom... Safety: Numerous accesses left free at night to undoubtedly facilitate the return of customers at the end of the evening, but no protection or access control, which can represent a level of insecurity and protection for customers property and values. Food and drinks: This establishment was, before the 2020-2022 pandemic, one of the references for fine French cuisine in the lower Saint-Laurent and the Rimouski region. Alas, that era is no more, the then chef and his brigade have evaporated, replaced by a team that is certainly inventive, but quite messy, who confuses culinary experience with gastronomy, which is not necessarily what customers expect. Disappointment in the end.

Warm welcome and enchanting decor!

I felt like I was sleeping in a dusty old museum! The bathroom is not functional, Its cute to want to keep an old-fashioned side but there are limits. Lunch was good, but seriously, I wont go back. Rooms: Filled with lots of disparate old things, fortunately we were there for only one night

I was happy to return to Mange Grenouille after more than 15 years. The table is always so refined. Breakfast was varied and delicious although rather cold. My disappointment is with the room. No. 5. Cold water tap blocked and no bottle of water to compensate. Outdated mattresses and pillows and very uncomfortable. Good service but impersonal. I would have liked to see AN adult involved in discussing it.

We were disappointed by this establishment where we spent 3 nights and which does not at all reflect the inn spirit that we have experienced elsewhere. No possibility of using the common areas after 8 p.m., no contact with the owners therefore no exchange possible. The menu of the so-called gourmet restaurant is very limited and above all very expensive. We could have expected a quality breakfast. This one was very average, no choice possible and minimal quantities. In short, we wont be going back.

I loved this hostel! The employees are very helpful and kind. The room is very good for the price. The breakfast contains lots of local produce and was delicious. The service in the restaurant was worthy of great restaurants. The decor of the common areas is very pretty and full of memories. A real gem. We really appreciated that this was the most accommodating hotel for our throuple (couple of three). The presence of an additional adult was not questioned and no additional fees were required. STRENGTHS - Gourmet meals; - Competent and smiling staff; - Magnificent landscaping; - Proximity to the Métis National Park and the Métis gardens; WEAKNESSES - Very noisy surroundings; - Small rooms with few amenities. The gourmet tasting menu at $95/P is worth the detour. We recommend it to you. It is a renovated 140-year-old building which has kept its character. For those who like this genre, very beautiful. The landscaping is a great pleasure for the eyes BUT its ambiance is destroyed by the significant noise from Route 132 varying from 50 to 65 decibels 24 hours a day...The 132 is less than 80 meters away... Even in the room with with the door closed, 40 to 50 decibels. Our two nights, difficult to sleep; we are used to our quiet suburban neighborhood. The room too small. No bathroom counter, very small shower and not even towel bars to dry them. No air circulation; we have to open the only window with a beautiful fountain at 50 decibels day/night it is rated 3*/5* but at $225/night (incl. breakfast) it is expensive.

We stayed two nights in this hostel and were able to test two types of rooms. The first night we were in a room with a king size bed and a private bathroom. Very pleasant, with a charming view of the garden. The second night we stayed in a room where the bathroom was shared with another room. This experience was less pleasant, especially since the noise caused by the neighbors upstairs, because of the parquet floor, was very disturbing. Even with earplugs, the noise was clearly audible. In addition, the room overlooked the street, which added external noise pollution. We slept little. Breakfast was OK, but not very filling. However, the staff were extremely friendly, and the decor of the hostel is really well thought out and pleasant.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Montreal then Gaspésie, this stay and the dinner at Le Mange Frog were a real enchanted break. The place is magnificent with its splendid interior rooms, its terraces, its garden and our comfortable room. We had a wonderful stay and dinner and breakfast were delicious! The welcome was most warm.

Le Mange Grenouille is probably one of the most charming places we have ever had the chance to spend a night. The entire hotel, from the dining rooms to the rooms, is decorated with great taste for a timeless experience; not to mention that breakfast in itself is an event, between the delicious products served and the sublime view of the Saint Laurent. A place not to be missed for anyone wishing to stop off at the Bic National Park.

I slept one evening at this inn. I have never been so well received. Noémie provides exceptional customer service. She takes the time to be interested in each client and makes you feel privileged to have this experience. I think Noémie really understands customer service. I had never seen such a welcome. All the staff are attentive and the food is very high quality. The WoW lunch! A small downside is that some rooms have to share a bathroom but it really wasnt a big deal. With the service offered by Noémie it s worth the detour!

Where to start? Charming place with old decoration that brings life to the place! Extraordinary service, Noémie (sorry if I wrote your name wrong) is a bomb of joy and always with a huge smile! My room was really charming! The bathroom clean. I don t forget the breakfast which was delicious! I regretted having a small stomach!!!! Almost everything was homemade, or local! I fell in love with their homemade ketchup but especially with their homemade berry jam! I recommend if you all want a great experience! Also take the time to visit, there are plenty of interesting treasures to be found there! Just a small note, since the establishment is quite old, the sound insulation is not great. But in my case it doesnt bother me.

We loved our stay. Whether it was the welcome which was one of the warmest I have ever experienced, or room #6, with a private balcony with a direct view of the river, EVERYTHING was perfect. The decor is simply perfect. There are also plenty of places outside to enjoy the view while having an aperitif. There Very well decorated and super comfortable room, I loved the clawfoot bath and the comfort of the bed. And special mention for the delicious lunch served in the room. Lots of little touches that we appreciated and which means we are going back, it s official!!!

Great first experience. Charming and warm place, beautiful view of the Bic and excellent service. It smelled good and the menu looked excellent but we could only stay for one drink and were treated to great care, with a little touch of madness . We will come back for sure!

What a beautiful inn with a decoration tinged with history, arts and a very creative personality. The room is very beautiful and comfortable with furniture to sit on, a sink in an ancestral decor. What can we say about the work team which is extremely friendly and smiling, helpful and who knows their restaurant dishes very well but also the Bic and Rimouski region. For dinner at the restaurant, the service is excellent and there is even a wine advisor who knows his menu extremely well. The food is really good, the menu is diverse but very tasty, in a space with a beautiful view of the river and the national park. I only have excellent words. Not only will I return there but I will not hesitate to recommend to my loved ones to go there for both accommodation and restaurants. An extraordinary hostel where you feel completely out of time and very welcoming staff, particularly Noémie.

Ideally located between Bic National Park and Rimouski. The inn is warm. However, I would have one criticism to make regarding the breakfast which for me was not up to par. There were two of us, and the quantities were limited. Besides, it clearly lacked taste. The day after the second night we preferred to go to the Folles flours bakery located two minutes by car.

Too bad I cant give a higher rating. The attic room was very nice and had a nice view of nature and the restaurant was quite good. But several things were not up to standard in the room: -The bathtub was not practical at all -You have to ask for cleaning to be done!!! -The breakfasts were infamous (a small tray consisting of 2 slices of bread with canned margarine and jam, canned orange juice and a tasteless hard-boiled egg. All served in the room!!) -It was very hot and not even air conditioning or fan! Damage !

I went to dinner at the restaurant. Wow what an interesting experience. The presentation of the dishes was specially designed and really pleasing to the eye. Systematically, such beautiful dishes whet the appetite. The original and new ingredients for me (flowers, blades of grass, frozen cucumbers, etc.) enhanced and perfumed everything. And the taste, what a delight...everything was succulent. The correct proportions. Quite an experience that I recommend at least once in your life. I never had the opportunity to stay at the inn but I spent magical evenings there tasting absolutely delicious food, surprising our taste buds and delighting them. Every time I leave, I look forward to the next dinner! The decor is as magnificent as the dishes, not to mention the breathtaking view!

We stayed 2 nights. The welcome was very warm and smiling, relaxed. The room is small and the walls are thin but the style is old because the house is authentic. The breakfast is frugal. Good location if you visit Bic National Park THANKS :)

Really a great discovery. Go for it without hesitation! We had a room in the garden (N.19) We were 3 people. Superb service, friendly people, clean and carpet free room, we wanted for nothing. Very good restaurant and directly on site (practical). However, it is a gastronomic restaurant so small portions and an expensive bill (plan ahead). We liked the location which is 3 minutes from the Bic golf course and about fifteen minutes from the Telus festivals, places we came to visit. Grocery store nearby too. This is not really the right choice if you have children. The atmosphere does not lend itself to it. It s more couple/relax Constructive comments for observation purposes only for purposes of improvement if the owner(s) see the Comments: - the lighting is only auxiliary lighting throughout the room so it is dark at times. Shower in the dark. I took one of the directional reading lamps to illuminate us and put it on the bathroom counter. The problem could be resolved or reduced in my opinion by the presence of a bathroom fan with integrated light since the existing fan is already near the shower door. -the shower head is powerful and borderline painful since it is relatively low and there is no way to adjust the flow. - I would indicate that the water is drinkable using a small sign near the sink or the coffee machine since this is a question that we asked ourselves given that we are from outside the region. - access for people with reduced mobility is very complicated or even impossible. more a question of the topography of the place and the presence of several staircases than anything else - we noted the absence of air conditioning in the room. This was not a problem during our visit since the outside temperature was cool, but it must be at times especially with the use of a dehumidifier which gives off heat. It was 24.5 degrees when we took possession. - Lunch portion a little weak. - the stones which serve as stairs to go down to the garden where we were are very slippery when wet. - I would consider making the balcony of the terrace in fiberglass or making a false ceiling with drains for the passage under the terrace leading to the garden rooms. - a small refrigerator could also be practical depending on the length of guests stay. Some with food allergies who need to bring meals or some with medications that need to stay cool. Thanks again! We will come back!

wow what a beautiful place for romantic and charming lovers

Superb location with breathtaking views of Bic Bay. I went there for dinner on recommendation and my expectations were not met. By wanting to reinvent recipes too much, we lose the essentials. A s mores made with a chili marshmallow and the chocolate being smoked, nothing of the desired taste remains. The dishes were however very pretty, but not worth the price. I did not stay there.

Very beautiful old inn steeped in history. The furnishings are well chosen and in harmony with the premises. We liked our room although we shared our bathroom with another room. Although the lunch lacked protein what they had was good. We had dinner at their restaurant and took the seven-course discovery menu, it was good but the chef takes it upon himself not to have gluten on the plates which prevents us from achieving wow. We plan to return.

Well-established hostel. Very nice reception. Very clean, the disinfectant surprises us upon arrival at the room. Outside room #20 there is a magnificent waterfall that almost manages to mask the noise of the 132 below. The toilet is pretty cute, the shower is for small and medium sized people. Breakfast is ok, it comes on a tray and everything is there, if you want a second coffee it will cost you $11:50 for 2; Oh good! However, coffee is free in your room with a good coffee machine, looking for the mistake? If you come back at night and go down to your room, it will be dangerous to get there. Because there is NO light with a motion detector. Luckily our cell phone light helped us out! The hostel has a good reputation, the gardens are magnificent and the customer areas are well appointed. The electricity could be improved (lamps with bulbs to change, hidden and poorly located switch). Rooms: Very clean

Good service, beautiful common areas. The rooms are very ordinary lets just say they need some love. For the restaurant the food was very good.

For dinner, we were sold this place as magical, unfortunately we were very disappointed with the wine, with the dishes which arrived raw, raw leeks like turnips. The change of leader must have done a lot. To make up for it, we were entitled to a reduction in the vegetables as they should have been on our first plate... never seen that, you dont make up for it like that when youre a chef in a so-called gourmet restaurant!! On the other hand, 5* for the service. Lets give the leader time to get things back on track.

Great place for an intimate dinner. Impeccable service. Unfortunately, on the short menu, the chowder was served to me cold (not lukewarm, cold-straight-from-the-fridge). Disappointment, especially when the kitchen only has a few dishes to master. We were kindly offered a glass of wine to compensate. Everyone has the right to make mistakes. You have to like old things, the bedding was good but decor from the 1900s, Im not a fan. The breakfast was OK.

Very disappointing lunch, no hot dish, no pastries, no pastry, no pancake, no maple syrup, half a cup of chocolate milk charged at 5.75 D in addition and excluding taxes, and customers are responsible for serve their table . Very bad experience, fortunately we only stayed one night, very humid room, smelling of mold, despite a dehumidifier that works non-stop. Very dark and tiny bathroom. We found unwashed used coffee cups on the nightstand. Access to the room is via poorly jointed stone paving with many steps, nothing worthy of a 3 star. Any breakfast.

We received our room at the back on the left side of the garden stairs, which was dangerous and dark in the evening. The bedroom sleeps no TV no radio wakes up no fridge poorly lit stairs to go to the toilet wifi cuts out regularly its not luxury for the price paid. Lunch is OK and dinner not much choice is good but I ate better the day before and the scallops were much better and it cost me a lot less. They waited almost 10 minutes before offering us a drink, ordinary service. The decorations and trinkets is the only positive point in my opinion. I certainly wont go back there.

For me, the Auberge du Mange-Grenouille is the best restaurant in eastern Quebec. Attentive service, original and sought-after wine list, the wine pairing always on point, what can we say about the dishes which highlight producers and products from the region in an original and tasty way. I ate better there than in several gourmet restaurants in Montreal or Quebec. Hats off to the whole team. I always bring visitors there who are inevitably delighted with their experience! We are privileged to have you at Bic.

Our restaurant experience on September 16: Extraordinary, everything was perfect. Food at- beyond our expectations. Very good friendly service. Plus we were near the window and were treated to a spectacular sunset. Surprising and exquisite decor.

A magical week! Personalized and attentive service, nothing to complain about, it feels like a stay at home with the bonus of a great team who takes care and is interested in us. A rare commodity for the last two years! Food, lunch and cleanliness beyond our expectations! All without forgetting the beauty and charm of the place. The inn also offers breathtaking views of the beauty of Bas St-Laurent and it is easy to forget time with a book in its magnificent garden. We were even recommended several great places to visit based on our interests! In addition to all these little touches, we are even interested in knowing if we enjoyed our day afterwards. Parking literally a few steps from the hostel. A worry-free stay and great value in short, we have already booked our room for another visit in a few months!

Extraordinary . Both the welcome and the decoration. We were received very warmly by Noémie. What can we say about the decor: this hotel is a cabinet of curiosities! Spending a night there is a must in Rimouski.

What to say. The place is really unusual, we have the impression of being in a play. The decor may not please everyone, but it makes for a different experience. As for the room, there is little storage space and little equipment (no TV, fridge, etc.). On the other hand, the bed is comfortable. I do not recommend for people who are light sleepers, because everything can be heard. Every sound of footsteps, doors opening, snoring, people talking in other rooms, absolutely everything. Additionally, we asked to put 2 items in the fridge (a carton of eggs and a brick of cheddar), this was refused and they gave us a bucket of ice to put our items in. It would be nice if there was a refrigerator that guests could use knowing that there are none in the rooms. The toilet was also really not clean after the passage of other travelers. We arrived at 9 a.m. for breakfast and there was already not much left for this one which was supposed to end at 10:30 a.m. No hot products, just hard-boiled eggs, a chocolate muffin, a brownie, bread, jam and fruit. Overall, I do not recommend, because the value for money leaves something to be desired.

Very charming and warm decoration. In terms of the rooms: comfortable bed, the soap, shampoo and conditioner provided is of very good quality and smells very good. We had the room with private toilet with a bathtub. The only problem was that it was a little hot (25C in the room) but there was a nice cool breeze coming in from the balcony and we had a fan. Lunch was excellent, fresh croissant and toast, tartlet, yogurt, sweet and savory crepe, wild berry marmalade, orange juice, etc. We are thinking of returning to relive this great experience and enjoy the beautiful scenery and beautiful views of Bic National Park.

The Mange-Grenouille restaurant left me hungry, literally: very small portions and inflated prices (eg: starter of 2 mini dumplings for $19). The decor is sublime on the other hand.

Visit to the restaurant. Excellent menu. Starter: Speckled trout, scallop carpaccio, oysters, lobster bisque. Lamb as main course. And excellent cheeses from the region. Impeccable service from the young waitress, smiling, competent and very friendly. Only downside: the musical choice which does not suit the atmosphere of this type of restaurant. Otherwise it would have been a perfect score.

Very good night, in this inn with magnificent decor. The view from the room overlooked the magnificent garden and the river. The breakfast is very good, a quality cold buffet, we loved it (orange juice, coffee, croissants, bread, homemade jam, verrines, etc.) the dining room overlooks the water, its zen. Very friendly staff pleasant and welcoming. Electric cars, a terminal is available for you!! We recommend 100%

We had dinner at the restaurant only, we did not stay at the inn. My review is therefore only for the restaurant. The place has a very kitsch decor of yesteryear which I really liked, there were four of us including two children and we were accommodated in a somewhat closed room, which made us feel comfortable not disturbing anyone . The service was good. But for the rest its not okay. We see a real effort to make elaborate and sophisticated dishes with local ingredients. But it is not successful at all. We had three starters and two main courses and none were faultless. Lots of balsamic vinegar on several plates. The scallop carpaccio is very acidic and the lemon balm tastes very strong and does not go well with the rest at all, you no longer taste the scallops. The plate of scallops and pork is quite small and the scallops are barely cooked, which is extremely unfortunate for a restaurant that displays these prices. At the price we pay as an invoice we expect something very successful and unfortunately despite the obvious efforts this is not at all the case.

The site is simply magical. The view of the Bic from the terrace is very impressive. The food and alcohol are excellent. In addition, dogs are allowed and welcomed with a smile. A restaurant/auberge where time has stood still...in a positive sense! The facade of the house alone promises what to expect inside. A cozy place to stay and enjoy. An overnight stay was not planned, so we had a very tasty dinner due to a birthday we were celebrating. The staff well trained, polite and courteous. The prices are high but also worth it. However, a visit should be booked or reserved in advance.

When you enter this inn, you enter an enchanted universe, a clever mix of flea market, storybook and museum. The decoration is atypical, we like it or not, we loved it, its busy but very warm, we feel very good there. The room with the four-poster bed with the bathtub is very pleasant and has a balcony with a panorama of the Saint Laurent. We stayed there for 1 night and had breakfast there. The inn is vey specific. Very old antic style and very stuffy. In our room there was no door to the bathroom, just curtain; no shower in the bathroom. The breakfast is very lite - coffee/juice and muffin.

The inn has a very special atmosphere, from another era. We eat very, very well there. The pinnacle is the view of Havre-du-Bic, simply sublime in broad daylight as well as at sunset. The only problem, and it cannot be improved for the moment, is the intense traffic of the 132 which we cannot see below, but whose noise volume somewhat spoils the tranquility.

We loved our 5 day stay here. The rooms are clean and original. Dinner in the evening is excellent and the service impeccable.

5 stars for the culinary experience in the evening, 4 is for the accommodation which requires a little love because it is old but very clean (its like sleeping at your grandmothers house). We were afraid we would eat less well following the change of ownership this year, but no, it was just as excellent! We took a few photos, but not everything, sorry, we attacked certain dishes forgetting the photo, it was too appetizing The view from the terrace looks directly onto the bic and it is very beautiful. Note that for lunch, only one dish is offered and the portion is reasonable (so not very big). Also be careful to check the price of the drinks suggested as an aperitif, the prices can vary greatly. We will definitely return. The value for money is very good.

We slept (rather trying to sleep in these old-fashioned rooms) where its not just the decoration that is old-fashioned, but the mattresses too; two nights on a terrible queen mattress. For the evening meal, the dishes are excellent, but too expensive as is the wine list. But if you can afford it, there are better places nearby. Okay. for the restaurant but not for the rooms.

Very disappointing stay, poorly soundproofed room, loud music downstairs until midnight which prevented us from sleeping. You can hear people moving around and talking. The bed is not comfortable at all. Very ordinary lunch included.

The room is very small and without a bathroom or sink, very poorly soundproofed, the floors creak and it is sometimes annoying to turn around in the antique bed which creaks... the breakfast is very mediocre, half a waffle with a bowl of yogurt ... I dont recommend this place if you want to sleep well!

1 star out of 5, disappointing experience despite the luxurious environment. The food is more than ordinary linked to the prices of the meals. We discovered a textile worm on the bed duvet, reception issued no apology, they simply changed the bedding as if nothing had happened after we insisted we were not going to sleep in this bed if it is not changed. No one came to see us following the incident to tell us about the situation or offer compensation or a simple apology. The second day the toilet no longer worked, after notifying a repair was made, but the employee left a can of Drano (poison) on the bathroom accessories shelf right next to our bath accessories. Having paid a total of $721 for 3 nights and a dinner, we expected to have a professional service up to the requested rates including exemplary courtesy from the employees, daily cleanliness of the premises, which was not the case. In short, a very bad experience for what was supposed to be a carefree vacation of rest.

Amazing. Thats the only word that suits the kindness of the staff, the warmth of the owners, the tasty dishes from the kitchen (if you like foie, try the sea bass!), the incomparable sunsets from the terrace, fort well decorated, and the decor is eclectic but remarkably tasteful where you can let your inner crazy go. And all at a very reasonable price. Warning: the place is one for exchanges, or quiet reading, or contemplation of the places; no TV in the rooms! (Which seemed perfect to me.) Potential small problem: no mini refrigerator in the rooms to keep collaboration or drinks cool; all the more reason to go and have a drink on the terrace. Highly recommended.

Unique place to discover. Particularly for dinner. Beautiful original selection of different à la carte dishes focused on local produce. However, for overnight stays unless we really wanted to experience the general store days, we got very little sleep. The room was rather cramped and the bed very uncomfortable. In addition our room was located on the wall adjacent to the dining room and noisy. Upstairs there was constant noise over our heads. Maybe the rooms completely upstairs are better? Note that it was relatively cool at night, but none of the rooms seemed air-conditioned and the 132 passed right below and it was rather noisy. In short, this in no way takes away from the charm and the effort that seems to be devoted to standing out in this hostel! But be advised about your nights if you want to stay there.

This is a hostel that is out of the ordinary. It is difficult to describe because it is so original. It feels like a book by Lewis Carroll... The welcome is warm, the restaurant offers refined local dishes and the rooms are comfortable. This is a great discovery for us!

We stayed there on September 26, 2020 for one night and one dinner. The rooms and the place are a unique experience, with a theatrical style that is unique to this hostel and takes us out of our times. Dinner was also very good, with a Caesar salad with pork and smoked salmon as starters, and Cornish chicken and black pudding (really excellent) as main course. Note that breakfast was also included and plentiful. An unforgettable experience of an almost magical and unusual place to say the least.
