Darlings in Bloomfield

Wow, when I say this was one of the best Italian meals I ve had in Toronto, I truly mean it. From the moment I walked in, the place felt like home warm, inviting, and as if you were sharing a meal with family and friends in someone s cozy living room. And the food? Absolutely incredible. Every dish was packed with flavor, and I still find myself dreaming about the taste. I visited during an educational trip with Vinequity, and we had dinner here let me tell you, this place knows how to serve up a memorable meal. I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic, top-notch Italian food.

Darlings focuses on simple dishes with high quality ingredients so everything is divine. Gossiping with my mom over wine, salad, and pizza is a time honoured tradition and Darlings is the perfect place to do just that.

Consistently outstanding. Jesse and Duncan have created a gem premised upon the perfect execution of high quality but simple ingredients. Coal-charred pizza of course, but everything else too. The home-made stracciatella is divine and tonights Piri Piri chicken was literally perfect. Come in a group of 4 and share everything.

Prices are great because the servings are for sharing and most plates are great for at least two people. Food s delicious, people are super and it s down to earth. Great for a quick meal out when you don t feel like cooking or for something more special.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the County! Italian comfort food, perfectly executed. Amazing service and an extensive wine list. The pizza is *chefs kiss*. Dont miss out on this amazing spot. As the restaurant is very small make sure you book a reservation in advance.

Its really average, overall a bit salty

We ordered a salad, aranchini, calamari and chicken parma to share between 2 of us. Waitress suggested thats a lot of food! We appreciated her honesty, removed calamari from the order and... wow ! Great advice and delicious fresh food! Highly recommended

Darling s just keeps outdoing itself. 11/10 food, service, drinks, vibe, everything. Shoutout to Jesse - best chef in the province/country/world??? And Duncan, who is just the best guy ever :) If you re smart you ll get the specials, if you re a genius you ll let your server order your whole meal for you. Enjoy - it s impossible not to!

Dont be fooled by outward appearance. All the food was delicious. We shared focacia, Caesar salad, arancini and pizza. You dont have to be in a hurry because the pizza cooked in a wood oven takes about 40 minutes, but you have to wait. Wine is very expensive. Parking: At the rear of the building, accessible via a narrow alley. You can also park on the street. Kid-friendliness: No booster seats for toddlers. Bring games because the wait can be long. Wheelchair accessibility: Access ramp for stroller or chair.

Came across Darlings this evening while biking through the area. What a pleasant surprise. The food was first rate - the chopped salad and today s pizza special were spectacular. Our server was attentive and down to earth. If I lived near by, I d be a regular customer .

Meh... Food was good and our waiter was nice and helped make it enjoyable. Atmosphere was okay particularly thanks to the good music. However, who the heck pays $300+ dollars for 2 pizzas, a salad, a plate of pasta, and 2 rounds of drinks... I guess we do since we did but at that price, for what it was, I wouldnt do it again.

First - the good: the gnocchi and the arancini are *out of this world*. Like, impossibly good. Their tomato sauce (whether on their pizza or pasta) is also unbelievable. Chopped salad was also ridiculously tasty. When looking over the menu, the prices seemed a bit too Toronto (thats the County for you these days), but I have to say, for these dishes, they were worth it. Less good: it took about 45 min for two pizzas to come out. To be fair, the server did warn us about the wait, but I definitely wouldnt go here with a bunch of kids again. But if youre not in a rush and are down to chill out and enjoy the view from the patio with a cocktail or a $20 glass of wine, this place is highly recommended. Seriously - go get the gnocchi and the arancini (and leave the kids home if you have them)

Darlings is perfect. Pizza, salad, paloma. Pasta, salad, margarita. Repeat. Excellent service, location, and pastoral views. My new favourite spot. Don t miss it.

Most amazing food! It s a small menu but done so extremely well! Service was great, too. Would highly recommend. Reservations would be a good idea as it s a small restaurant and always busy. Parking: Free parking but it s limited.

Loved this place, one of my top 5 pizzas of all time! Definitely make a reservation if you re dead set on eating here, and if it s busy be prepared to wait (it s worth it!) for your pizza. Incredible little gem in Bloomfield! The tomato pizza is absolutely incredible with farm fresh tomatoes.

The food is great, the wine too ! I removed a star because it feels a tiny overpriced but overall, definitely recommend this place for its good vibes and delicious Italian pizza and pasta ! The Caesar salad was great too ( we asked for more parmesan)!

So we came here in the hopes for pizza. We were told it would be a 45 min. Wait for pizza but pasta and rest of menu was normal. OMG , so happy that happened because the pasta was out of this world good. Just plain rigatoni in sauce but one of the best sauces I ve ever had. Also ordered arancini and ceasar salad. Everything was great. Don t order soft drinks. They charged 8.00 for a coke! prices are a bit high but plates of salad and rigatoni are for 2 ppl. Great service.

We absolutely loved this place! Coming from an Italian background I grew up eating Italian food all my life.. this is the BEST Italian food we ve eaten at a restaurant hands down!! Literally amazing portions and the sauce tastes so good! We orders the Cesar salad with arancini and rigatoni definitely recommend this place. The only thing is a bottle of coke is 8$ little pricey. Overall amazing place

Service was professional and friendly. The gnocchi was spectacular. Tamara was efficient and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere even when it was at capacity. Book in advance. They have a great reputation and it s well deserved.

Wow wow wow! My wife thoroughly enjoyed her meal with her friend last night! So why am I writing this review? Because she came home with PLENTY of leftovers! The wood fired mushroom pizza was cooked perfectly! To those people that complained in their reviews about the burnt crust, clearly you have no idea about wood fired pizza. This is EXACTLY how it should be! Just Google wood fired pizza and click on images. I ll wait See? They all have some black burnt bits on the crust and where it bubbles! That s how it s supposed to be! My wife also brought home the hot honey to drizzle on the slices I had. Do not pass on this! The rigatoni in vodka sauce reminded me of my childhood best friend s Italian grandmother s home cooked sauce. Excellent. Pasta was perfect and the sauce was as well. (We kinda fought over those leftovers) The chopped salad is one of the best salads I ve had in a while. They certainly don t scrimp on the dressing! Even though it was about two hours after it was served at the restaurant, it was still very tasty! The gnocchi was superb. My wife is a little bit of a gnocchi snob, and this was the best she s had. That s saying a lot! Now, I went through some of the reviews and am quite shocked about the implied racism. My wife s friend and her husband frequent Darlings and they are both brown. In fact, her husband is a very dark brown gentleman! They have returned multiple times and will again! So those negative reviews are a little suspect. Anyway, I can t wait to go with my wife! (With my dark complexion due my East Asian/Greek dna I ll be sure to note how I am received LOL!)

The vibes and aura was off the moment my friends and I stepped in. To start off when we tried to make a reservation their site would not download and when you tried to call it was an automated voice mail that told you to go online. Though the staff seemed nice they did seem very unsure how to act around me and my friends. There was a sense of lingering. The food was overrated and basic. While we waited 40 minutes for over baked over priced pizza while my friends with pasta had been served and eaten. The music fits perfectly if you are looking to star in a Michael Jackson halloween night. Ended the evening with the friend paying the bill being told she looks the most tired out of all of us. Would not recommend unless you feel like being judged and waiting a ridiculous amount of time for over priced food.

Pizza was good, not great. Authentic, wood fired with good crust, much too salty. Atmosphere was underwhelming and not up to par with the prices. Beware of hidden 20% upcharge for groups of 8 or more, unacceptable to be presented with this fee, after the meal.

Wonderful Vodka Pizza !!!

My favourite restaurant in the county most likely. Good for pizza. Good for pasta. Good for a couple. Good for a party. Good for a drink and a snack. Swung by after a week of shrimp cocktails and stiff drinks in the State and when I wandered into Darlings I knew I wasn t gonna miss a thing. Was even blessed that they were running a shrimp cocktail special.

This pizza ranch offers great food, delicious drinks and awesome atmosphere. It was difficult to get reservations as they are quite a small spot so make your reservations in advance - Your definitely going to want to stop in for a bite

Really wanted to love this place but unfortunately our experience was not great. We made a reservation in advance, arrived on time, and almost immediately after sitting down we were told kitchen is closing in 10 minutes so we rushed to order drinks and food, then found out a few of the items we wanted were sold out. Honestly, the food was good but feeling rushed and unwanted in a restaurant as a customer, quite frankly, sucks.

Those pizzas are absolute heaven!

Darlings is easily one of the best restaurants in PEC, with absolutely perfect pizza, delicious pastas, and ice cold cocktails (don t skip the margs). I tried their eggplant bruschetta last week and begged them to keep it on the menu forever! The interior has great country vibes, and the patio overlooks the rolling fields of Bloomfield. Such a fabulous addition to the town and we will be back many times over :)

When a potential customer asks a simple question about whether a small dog was allowed on your patio, there are many constructive and elegant ways to say no. But the owners of this restaurant decided to respond to us in a very condescending and rude manner. This wasn t necessary at all. As a result, I will never be dining here due to how they treat potential customers.

Great food and amazing staff. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment as theyre often too busy to take walk-ins.

I ve been a dozen times and it doesn t get old. Great specials but always have the originals ready to please. I advise you reserve to guarantee your seat and a seat for each person.. Seems obvious but a family came in and reserved for the adults only on a busy night and were enraged when the many (5-6) children didn t have seats. They made a bad energy for everyone when they realized they couldn t be accommodated.

Just awful. If you re a person of colour, don t even bother. The owner is rude and was giving us every excuse as to why we should find somewhere else to eat. The food sub-par, overpriced and took FOREVER for a simple burnt pizza. I m not surprised to see multiple negative reviews from other people of colour who ve had similar experiences, cause I definitely had a feeling that s why we were treated in such an odd way. Also, the fact that owner responds to negative reviews in such a condescending and disrespectful manner really shows his character. In a way, he was doing us a favour trying to convince us to leave and I wish we had listened. 0/10.

One of those places that just gets it all right. Not fancy just good - make that great - food. They had just about every one of my favourite foods. But the cavatelli with oxtail was outstanding. And I ll remember the bruschetta forever. Warm service in a chill environment.

I was highly recommended this spot. I checked out their site ans menu and I kinda hesitated to check it out. Luckily I did! Food was on point, the pie was phenomenal, perfectly cooked, lots of flavour, not too heavy. The oxtail pasta was unreal and inspirational. I had the old fashioned cocktail (much needed after a day with two kids under 4) and it was magnificent - exactly what I needed. The service was great and conversation was lovely. I will happily return when Im back in the neighborhood and I cant wait to explore new things off the menu. Maybe next time Ill bring some Swatow up for the team.

Not what it used to be. Salads and pizza ok but nothing special- bland Caesar salad and pizza crust burnt on outside and soggy on bottom Non existent wine selection -only one vineyard which I found quite unpleasant. Went last year and it was amazing so perhaps on off night

Came here for dinner with my family on a Saturday evening. Food and service was wonderful. Best Caesar salad Ive ever had and it even came with anchovies and I dont even like anchovies! The Caesar salad was only on the countylicious menu but the graciously allowed us to order it a la carte. Also had the Arancini balls, pepperoni and white pizza and the lamb cavatelli.

Delicious food across the board from pizza, beets, salad and pasta. Great mock tails too and friendly knowledgeable staff. Will definitely return!

We ate there this weekend. The atmosphere was friendly, with great decor and vibe. We had two pizzas and a salad and everything was exceptional. The pizza was thin crust, somehow both chewy and bubbly and crispy with well seasoned sauce and toppings. Cant wait to eat there again.

The tomato pizza was pure magic. Great food, great people, great vibe. Salad, shrimp cocktail and sugar pie were also excellent. Looking forward to visiting over and over.

Obsessed with Darlings and will take any opportunity to go back. Service was welcoming and fun. We have a toddler and everyone was patient and kind with her. We had a few *annoying* requests like extra ice for our kiddo, which was met with giggles and smiles. She definitely also spilled a cup of water and again, just smiles. These buds know hospitality. The food was so yum. Nostalgic food memories from childhood that Jesse absolutely perfected. Incredibly generous portions, perfect for sharing. Inventive while also being familiar and approachable. The best. It s also worth mentioning that it s just a really charming room with great design. Super light and airy while the sun is up, and it has a sassy vibe at night. Love it all.

They are absolutely nailing it. Get the margarita to start, wine with your food. Tomato pizza, stracciatella for dip, anchovies for on top. I don t know what they are doing with the chopped salad back there but it s perfect. Went back the next day and had the focaccia, olives and maccheroni. It s all too good.

Darlings is an eclectic , retro pizza joint serving true New Haven style pizza in the county. Overlooking the Bloomfield pasteurs, this restaurant is both nostalgic in its decor and taste. We enjoyed the chopped salad, the tomato pizza and on Duncans recommendation, we ordered a side of straciatella for the pizza and paired it with hot honey. The chopped salad was fresh and fragrant with dill , toasted walnuts and a delicious vinaigrette- it was a simple yet satisfying accompaniment to any pizza. The pizza was made with California San Marzano tomatoes and grated reggiano - definitely a sweet, savoury and crunchy pie. The straciatella was sourced locally from Sofias ( same owner as Darlings) and was rich, creamy and helluva satisfying. The pizza was light, not too heavy and wont make you feel like sh** afterwards. We sat at the bar which was perfect because Duncan was easy to talk to . Great pizza joint! Would highly recommend for anyone in and around PEC.

Best pizza experience I ve ever had

Jo and I had a great evening at Darlings PEC last night. The vibe was energetic and fun, service was so friendly and helpful with great explanations and recommendations about the food and wine. And the food! Simple and delicious - plates are meant to share. We loved everything we ate and sitting at the bar allowed us to see dishes coming out of the kitchen which all looked delicious. Well definitely be back.

Darlings is a great low-key spot for a night out with your favourite motherpupper. We had the maccheroni, a classic pupperoni pizza, a side of stracciatella cheese, and the Get Wavy (mini surprise cocktail which happened to be a margarita that day, a beer, and a shot). Pros: The maccheroni was doglicious and the plate was massive. Loved the roast pork, it added some richness and texture which was balanced out by the tomato sauce. Great bite on the pasta too. The pizza was thin, crisp, and chewy. The pupperoni curled up into pawfect little cups with crispy, slightly charred edges. The stracciatella cheese was a pizza dip that I didn t know I needed! (I only wish it was bigger.) Margarita was great too! We were so full we didn t even have space for dessert! Cons: service was a bit slow. We made a reservation but still had to wait a bit for our table to become available (that being said, it was a very busy night and we enjoyed watching the cows grazing in the field across the road while we waited on the pawtio). Overall, 5 woofs out of 5.

This past Fathers Day I went with my son for dinner and I was instantly impressed. I love the unique cozy atmosphere, the very friendly service and not to forgot the different tasty courses including the pizza. Duncan, the owner shared with us the history of this restaurant and his vision going forward. I didnt pay attention to a wine-list, but when I asked for a recommendation - I enjoyed a perfectly chilled white wine from Austria. I WILL be back soon. Christian Vegetarian options: Ask the server. We thought we were visiting a hole in the wall - nothing against hole in the walls (thats why we initially chose it), but Darlings turned out to be something very special. Fantastic service - really, quite remarkable. Food service was a bit late and they sent us a gratis foccacia that was top 5 foccacia Ive ever had. The salumi plate and mozzarella were also amazing. Maccheroni was home made and perfectly al dente. Margaritas were strong and tart, 10/10. We immediately made a reservation to come the next day and try the pizza. Youve got a gem here, PEC! Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming to kids - family style menu is easy to work with.

Dinner tonight was incredible, I personally forgot to take any photos of the food because I was too busy devouring everything that was brought to the table. We were a larger group so we had to prix fixe menu and it was such a great experience.. It can be stressful choosing the restaurant with a big group when you haven t tried it previously but everyone was RAVING about it. The food and the service was so lovely and the overall vibe, amazing. Thank you Duncan and your team who served us- five stars across the board. Can t wait to come back and try more food next time we re in town!

I rarely rate reviews but I felt I needed to. We came here this past weekend for my bachelorette. When I say it was the best experience I ve ever had, I m not kidding. The service was so homey and personable. The food was phenomenal! We all had the best time. Everyone was so friendly! They shared suggestions with the food they brought us. The focaccia bread and dipping oil was out of this world. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you guys so much again from all of us! We had so much fun it really made my night!!

Every detail has been seen to at Darlings. Even the menu is a fun read (especially if you Get Wavy ) from cocktails to entrées. The pizza is thin and huge and delicious, be prepared to not explore the food any further unless youve brought a few people to tackle it. If you do still have room, the slow roasted pork pasta was to die for.

Great freshly prepared pizza, thin crust and well baked. All 3 of our appetizers, mozzarella, carpaccio, and salad were perfect. Service was friendly and professional. Great view of cows grazing. Reminds you of how beautiful the County is.

Recently opened and they just stole the crown. Bow down to the new pizza kings of the County. I asked what style their pizza was and they said New Haven. I had it before in the US but Darlings is exceptional. Its a hybrid of New York and Neapolitan and possibly better than either one. Crust is thin but satisfying with a bit of smokey flavor from the charcoal oven. Modest amount of cheese but its high quality. Sauce is bright and flavorful. The peperoni was curling into cups as they should. Sausage was a bit bland but it was real sausage meat not sausage pellets. 10/10 pizza for real. Salads were impressive too and it takes a lot for a salad to be impressive. Service was friendly and not fake. The margaritas from the bar were world class, really balanced not just sweet. Mocktails were great too. Bartender has skills. The only downsides is that the acoustics of the place are brutal so it gets real loud as the sound bounces off hard surfaces. They have a patio but since there is a farm across the street you should bring heavy duty mosquito protection if you plan to sit outside. They dont have takeout in the high season but hopefully they can add that moving forward.

Had an excellent dinner at Darlings in Bloomfield, as recommended by the Inn nearby. We sat at the bar (as tables are reserved for 3 or more people), and it was lovely. We enjoyed chatting with Duncan, and had the sausage pizza with Gorgonzola, the rigatoni in vodka/rose and chopped salad with fresh dill. All lovely and perfect for sharing. The homemade sugar pie with a warm cherry sauce was amazing. We will definitely come back on our next trip to the County.

Wow so good - fantastic food and drink at reasonable prices. We had a tomato pizza and added the stracciatella at Duncan s suggestion, along with the salad special (fresh turnip w greens), and loved every bite. We look forward to being regulars.

I cannot comment on the food at this establishment. I had a 5:00 pm reservation for 4 people tonight. Unfortunately, a problem came up and I had to cancel the reservation. I called immediately, at 1:45 pm to cancel- no one answering the phone so I left a message. I have just discovered I now have an $80 cancell charge on my credit card. Inexcusable. I have never experienced anything like this at any other County restaurant. I was not a no- show; I cancelled. Also, not possible to speak to anyone at this restaurant.

This is my favourite restaurant in PEC. The food is so good. Everything we ordered from the pizza to the rigatoni, the vodka sauce and the focaccia was absolutely amazing. Service was great. If you re looking really good food and big portions, come here.

If I could give more stars I would. This was our first stop in the county and it did not disappoint. My husband and I had the tuna tartare, chopped salad, and pepperoni pizza. Every bite was better than the last. We re trying to fit it in again on our short trip here.

Unbelievable food. Nothing else matters, the most delicious meal. Will be going back asap. Note, we were sitting inside and it was very hot in there, wish I had worn my hair up to keep cool. But nothing worth losing a star over. We re all still talking about how amazing the food was.

Great food! Service could be improved (friendlier). Should add a few highchairs for young families!

Great restaurant, great food, great staff

The host was not welcoming at all, he found every excuse to tell us we shouldnt stay, he said he had room in the bar but when we said yes he said, oh no I dont have room in the bar, just the patio but its very buggy, we were hungry so we stayed and ordered a simple cheese pizza and it took 45 minutes to make, and when it came it had almost no cheese and it was burnt, our server was nice and she tried but that feeling of being unwanted was not a good feeling, I must mention that we are 3 women of color and it was very obvious that this was the reason we were singled out and were given the worst service

If I could give 10 stars I would. Perfect pizza, tasty eats, impeccable service (thank you Duncan!!!!). As a local to Bloomfield it s so nice that this space is 2 min from home. Dangerously addictive.

We only tried two dishes ...the pizza and tomatoes app. Our pizza flew a little too close to the sun....but was excellent otherwise. Understand the chef makes his own cheese! The tomato app was amazing....way too much for one person. Decor was a lovely 70s rec room vibe. Beware of the $6 cans of coke.....

Went last night for the first time and made a reservation to go back next week before I left. Everything we ordered was delicious - focaccia, chopped salad, sausage pizza with hot honey - and the service and ambience were perfect. GO!

Perfect!! The only pizza worth eating in the county! Very, very delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable service, a beautiful atmosphere. We ate on the patio in late summer. The frozen cocktails were sooo good. We felt super taken care of. Thank you

What a treat it was to have dinner at Darlings! All aspects of the meal were amazing, as were the wonderful service and the vibe of the place. Cant wait to go back!

We were a walk-in and sat at the bar, where we got fantastic service from one of the co-owners. Great cocktail menu, and some nice local wine and beer options. Despite being quite busy, the atmosphere was laid back and casual, with a killer soundtrack as well. The chopped salad was inpsired. I mean... chopped salad? It was so good, with the walnut and dill adding a unique twist. The burrata with pistachio and grapes was a delight, and the beef carpaccio was sliced so thin, it could have been painted on the plate. Delicate and so tasty. We went in with no expectations, and came out absolutely blown away. Darlings will definitely be on our list of places to visit again the next time were in PEC.

Delicious! Pizza, Pasta Limon, Salad and yes the bread all amazing. If I had to pick a fav the salad and pasta would tie but it s hard to choose. The vibe is warm and feels like Nona s living room.

Cozy and beautiful room filled with great people, bringing incredible food and drinks to the county. The pizza IS incredible, but don t sleep on the other dishes, they re equally impressive. The wine list is well curated and the cocktails are made with care and expertise. A true gem in PEC. Kid-friendliness: Been several times with a toddler, I d recommend going early (obviously) and they have kid friendly beverages, pastas and pizza.

This was a 10/10 experience. Food was excellent and abundant. It s unusual to eat somewhere and have EVERY dish be amazing and that s exactly what we got. Service was really great too. Very cool setting and only a few tables. Cozy vibe. Good music. We will be back.

Everything we ate was delicious! The restaurant is a cozy comfortable space and the service was impeccable. Cant wait to come back and try more items from the menu.

A really fun place- very cute country mood and cottagey vibes. Even though it is a casual setting, the candle light makes it warm and romantic. Should have listened to the server- the plates are huge and good for sharing. Had a lot of extras and did not go home hungry. Great time.

Loved our meal at Darlings. Delicious pizza, incredible shrimp and a refreshing tomato salad. Some of the very best food you ll find in the area. Very relaxed and casual vibes. Worth driving out of your way to come here. Kid-friendliness: We brought our 4 year old son and they were very accommodating and welcoming. A wonderfully casual atmosphere with high end flavour.

Her: this is the best pizza I have ever eaten! Him: better than Kaya in Jamaica? Her: yes, and I am not high this time! Parking: Park on the paved sidewalk area if proper parking lot is full.
