Really disappointing experience. I was looking forward to eating Portuguese chicken but was disappointed from the moment I called (takeout) until I had finished my plate. The customer service leaves much to be desired, there was only one employee (cook but who does the cash register). He was busy, stupid and had no desire to provide a good customer experience. The food, for $24, is definitely not worth it. Whether in terms of quantity or quality. Probably the worst Portuguese chicken Ive eaten! Cold, almost no taste, the salad which had no sauce. It looked like a food truck style plate so much so that there wasnt one, and again I saw food trucks that were more generous with the portions. $24 in the trash. To avoid.

3rd experience in a row which slightly disappointed my wife and me, in my opinion it is due to a lack of passion. Lukewarm chicken sitting in some sort of liquid left us perplexed. Fries cooked in overused oil. The salad is excellent and impeccable. It s a shame, we had a very good experience at Escudo the first time but I don t think I ll go back there again.

We ordered a family Portuguese poutine on June 15, it was really excellent, certainly one of the best poutines I have eaten, even the best. The sauce is perfect, plenty of chicken and Portuguese sausage! The only thing that could be improved in my opinion is the service, the welcome was not crazy, a little smile sometimes is enough, otherwise we loved the food.

You have to taste it to believe it! The chicken and ribs are irresistible, served with a choice of two salads and addictive fries. Everything is made fresh so call 30-45 minutes in advance for delivery or pick-up. Grain-fed, hormone-free chicken...taste the difference.

Ive tried this place twice. Both times we saw the cook reheat the chicken in a saucepan. For an open fire Portuguese grill restaurant this is borderline criminal. Every other proper Portuguese resto shave the chicken fresh off the grill. Add to this the extremely salty fries doused in misplaced spices and the rude service, makes this a very unfortunate experience. Never again.

Very good Portuguese rotisserie, chicken cooked on embers with spicy homemade sauces served on the side, a delight for the taste buds, they also have a Portuguese drink sumol, ribs grilled on embers (remember to order in advance because you have to allow 45 minutes of cooking time) they also have peticos and their desserts succulent natas!! possibility of ordering by telephone and having it delivered!

**** Danger of poisoning **** do not go eat at this restaurant, 2 hairs found on my plate, the waiter rude, probably about to close the doors of this restaurant. the chicken had a weird moldy (sour) taste!!!! we don t even talk about rice .disgusting!! It s very sad for the Portuguese community because this is not the kind of food they serve in restaurants in Montreal!! I felt sorry for the guy at the restaurant and I even paid for my totally disgusting plate ($30)!!!!!!?????? Good luck to those who want to venture!

We came in November. The gentleman who served us was very nice. He positioned the table as best he could so that we wouldnt be in the draft. Fries are made to order. On the other hand, the food was not to our taste. And taking a look at the kitchen I understand that they are overwhelmed with cleaning. Too bad, given the note I thought I had finally found a Portuguese chicken near the house.

No closure notice on the restaurant door or on the Google page today. The least we can do is notify customers.

Very typical of Portugal. The chicken is cooked over charcoal and not infrared like in some places . which changes everything. In Portugal we smell charcoal just like at Escudo. The owners are real Portuguese who cook authentically.

I can t believe this place has been hidden from me for 10 years!! Wow triple A for the ambiance typical Portuguese and I mean authentic! The owner is the coolest guy I ve met!! And the food!! I m Portuguese and quite the restaurant goer! I usually drive downtown from Rosemère or up north to get this taste of home ! Unfortunately I usually leave disappointed from these other restaurants, Escudos is by far the freshest , most tasty original Portuguese food I ve had since I was in Portugal! I am honestly in awe and craving more, we had chicken, Bifanas and all the trimmings With natas for desert! What a fantastic discovery we made tonight! What a wonderful discovery! A nice, friendly and excellent little restaurant, just like its dynamic chef Cheech! We were able to taste all the meats (Portuguese chicken, pork, ribs, chorizo ): EVERYTHING was delicious and tasty (and it wasn t too spicy either)! And what about the poutine, wow! I only liked the rice less, which I found blander and whose texture I liked less. Thank you for the excellent service, the quality of the food and the warm atmosphere. Passion shines through in this little restaurant that deserves to be known! It was our first time and far from our last. We recommend without hesitation!

Small, warm and unpretentious place. You feel like youre being invited to eat with a Portuguese family and its comforting. The chicken is just perfect. Tender, juicy and well seasoned, and the sauces that appear to be homemade are delicious and make the ideal complement. Natas made me fall in love. I like that you can buy their products, like sauces and spices, directly on site, but with their excellent value for money, why bother? I love this place. I will go back often, thats for sure!

We ordered online and were very disappointed, several items were missing and the photos of the dishes were far from representative and whats more it was overcooked. Paying $50 for 2 small pieces of vaindes, a salad and a small pastry, a real scam! I strongly advise against ordering there!

The dishes are very good. The place is clean and the service is excellent. Im removing 2 stars because the prices are ridiculously high and the portions have decreased significantly. Example Quantity of chicken thigh: $27! Portion delivered in a small box of approximately 5p by 4p! St Hubert, Au Coq, Benny, its half the price for portions twice the size!

It was my first time eating Escudos Portuguese cuisine and I absolutely loved it! Their Portuguese poutine is an excellent delicacy with the right spiciness, especially if you add Piri Piri sauce with it! I give Escudo my personal rating of 13/13 with !

The poutine is delicious! And if you go there between Friday and Sunday, ask the chef to make you his special dessert, as they say: its sua coche!!

I had the grill mix combo with a Natas pastry. The chicken thigh was very good, but the rest was dry and tasted like it had been reheated. The price is also too high for the quantity. Same thing for the pastry, it looked like it had been made the day before and was not crispy. After reading several very good reviews about the restaurant, I am disappointed

Its very good but the prices are exorbitant.. $31 + tax for a plate of half chicken when everywhere else its around $20.. he told me that dessert is included but I never asked for it .. with the tip we are at an easy $40 for 1 plate of chicken rice salad I would come back but at this price never again.. even a plate of thigh or breast are very expensive

This restaurant is equivalent to other good Portuguese restaurants in Montreal. Definitely the best in the area! Reason, Chicken not well cooked, proof when I arrived there was even more coal on the grill (chicken interior still rare) and cold fries. Disappointed with the service After calling to share the feedback, the co-owner offered me 15% for the next order which I declined. Really you thought thats how we build customer loyalty!!

Jaime, our host, server and chef was fantastic. Its delicious, hot and very Portuguese. Authentic and original. The chicken was just right, the fries are very special and good and the dessert (pastei de nata) OMG so good. Very reasonable price. We will come back often.

Really good! The food is excellent. On the other hand, I will never eat there again... very unwelcoming. Its small and messy, boxes everywhere hiding the decor. To go to the bathroom you have to go through the kitchen, and its not very clean either. The employees do not respect health measures, do not wear a mask...so one wonders if the food is safe when we see the state of the premises inside.

I was going to McDonalds to get my dinner because I only have 30 minutes to eat and while passing in front of the Portuguese I turned off to go get some good chicken but I almost turned around because the welcome from the boy with the L.A. cap. My head got cold! Have you ordered? He told me! I said no, I was walking past and decided to stop! He told me well next time call 30 minutes before arriving here sorry my guy but there wont be a next time!

I dont know whats going on with the staff at this restaurant. During my last 2 orders, it seemed like a disturbance. I ordered this evening by phone at 4:57 p.m., the employee who answered me, super stupid, didnt even give me time to give my name for the order and told me it will be ready in 25 minutes. I show up 30 minutes later for my order...result: we dont have an order I explain to the employee that I called at 4:57 p.m., I even give him my order again because obviously there wasnt even one by name, only to be told that they never received a call it borders on ridiculous! The young man in the black cap who responds with attitude should frankly review the way he speaks with customers. I understand that we all start somewhere in life but he really didnt understand the concept of customer service. I asked for Jaime but unfortunately he was not there. Its a shame because Ive ordered often and the food is good but just for the attitude of the staff, I wont go back there again. Customer service = zero.

We went for dinner this Friday May 13 and everything was of impeccable quality. I highly recommend it and don t forget to try the dessert!

Only negative point: too expensive à la carte and to eat on site. I understand the business decision to favor the take-out model.

Too expensive and there was only one chicken left more than an hour before closing on a Friday evening...One of the two employees was stupid, I had the impression that he wanted us to leave (which we did). done, too bad). Im from Montreal and in my area, there are plenty of cheaper options (Piri Piri, Viana, etc.) for what seems equivalent to me (I havent even had the chance to taste)...

So just wow. First experience and certainly not the last. We tested the waters by trying the Portuguese chicken of course, including the Portuguese poutine garnished with pieces of chicken and chorizos. A real delight, quality and succulent products. The place is intimate, and the owners son is warm and welcoming. A great discovery that I simply recommend.

Very good But lets talk about prices... Average Portuguese Poutine $17??? Natas $2 each so Im told $15 With tax for 6 ok $5 for Delivery usually its free in restaurants but ok Breffff $46 Tax plus tip In total... It s really not cheap to eat little at home, especially if the meal was cold.

The $30 takeout chicken special was totally satifying! This included a fresh and tasty garden salad with dressing and a huge bag of seasoned fries with tangy sauce. The whole portuguese chicken was delicious, albeit some inner meat was a bit dry. Still, everything was great and more than enough for three adults or a family of four. The natas were also quite delicious and very authentic. Clean but small place, service was pleasant and prompt. Overall we were very satisfied with the meal, excellent compromise between price-quantity-quality, so we highly recommend it!

I ordered off Uber eats and when I saw the sandwichs I thought wow 12$ for just a sandwich is expensive but in the picture it looked stacked with a lot of chicken so I took it with another 12$ bifana sandwich for my father when It got here it was disappointing there was barely anything inside for the chicken nothing like the picture and as for the bifana its literally only 2 thin slices.The price is nowhere near what the portions are worth.I look at other reviews and everyone seems satisfied and say they have big portions so I dont know if they did it in a hurry and didnt care because I ordered online.I order a lot but never leave reviews but I made one for this because thats how cheated and disappointed I was.Taste was good though.

Food quality was subpar at best. Fries felt like they were cooked the day before and warmed up before pickup. Was hoping for an authentic Portuguese cuisine, but the Portuguese grilled chicken at Adonis is about 10 times better than the chicken from this place. The ribs had barely any meat on them and the taste... well there was no taste.

Quelle belle découverte. Le combo familial a tout pour plaire. Poulet succulent, frites triple miam, salade et vinaigrette toute simple mais goûteuses. Les tartelettes portugaises sont également forts bonnes. À un prix plus que raisonnable. Notre expérience fut tellement agréable que nous comptons essayer les côtes levées et autres plats du menus.

Beware of delivery at night I guess in order to get chicken with sauce or a salad with dressing you need to go inside the restaurant never again, but hey great news the delivery was fast ;)

OMG! MUST TRY THE BIFANA. Seasoned perfectly and when you ask for spicy, its got a great kick! Loved the food here, really good. The person that made my food was a pleasure to watch. He was meticulous in the placement of the sandwich and looked like he loved what he was doing! Great job Escudo. Highly recommend and I dont give 5 away easily.

Tried this place for the first time! Amazing!!! Being Portuguese I am always skeptical. But DAMN this place was amazing! Great portion, well seasoned with just amount of spice (asked for spicy). Hubby had a Bifana sandwich and I had the chicken sandwich and both were delicious. Served with fries and rice mmmmmm and lets not forget the tasty Nata at the end for dessert! Its a must try!!!
