Caribbean cooking including jerk ribs, fusion burgers & shrimp dishes with beer & cocktails.
I was hesitant to eat here because of what I heard about the portion sizes. My wife and I decided to give it a shot after looking at the menu online. I ordered the coconut shrimp pasta and my wife had the lobster linguine. We also shared a six-piece serving of jerk chicken spring rolls. To wash it all down, we both had a tall glass of sorrel. I rated my meal (coconut shrimp pasta) a 10/10. It’s very saucey, so keep that in mind. The jerk chicken spring rolls get an 8/10. Very delicious with a nice sauce, but I feel the chicken can use a stronger kick. The sorrel for me gets a 10/10. My wife rated her lobster linguine a 9/10, spring rolls an 8/10 and the sorrel a 6/10 because she’s not a fan of strong ginger, which the drink had a lot of. She rated my meal (coconut shrimp pasta) an 8/10.
Food took about 25min for a simple jerk chicken. The rice and peas was the best part about the dish which should speak volumes. For a long wait like that the chicken was not even fresh. I asked for extra sauce on the dish and the cook said to charge me extra after my 25 min wait. Any other Jamaican place I go to they would be glad to put extra gravy with no charge. After I open up the order I was really disappointed. Spent 25 out of my 30min lunch break and not impressed at all. My side of macaroni was now a distasteful salad and NO GRAVY at all on the dish but came with a pathetic little container or gravy (picture attached) I should’ve posted a picture of the dish but I was way too hungry and didn’t have much time left on my break to eat. You are not missing anything. This place is a sorry excuse for a Jamaican restaurant. If you are reading this, Find another place
My fellow guest had a sub-par dining experience with bad tasting sorrel; bitter, thin bammies; old, dry Escovitch snapper; and bad salad; small fish; etc. What a doozy, but I'll exclude their experience from this review. The co-diner did enjoy their rice and peas with fish gravy. My meal was the seafood pasta with added shrimp. I enjoyed it. I didn't like the sorrel at all (too much ginger), but we jointly liked the red pea soup. We will both be back for curry goat with white rice and/or oxtail and update the review.
I ordered jerk chicken to go and added plantain, and the flavor wasn't bad, but unfortunately, they don't sell coleslaw. You can have your dinner either with green or macaroni salad. Customer service experience wasn't great. They have a bad attitude, and I had to wait for 20 minutes for my order to be ready.
Honestly, don't waste your money. I gave this place two honest tries. I ordered takeout and dined in. I ordered the red peas soup and a chicken sandwich for my takeout order. I was told 10 to 15 mins. When I went to collect my order, I was told 5 more mins. Then another 5 more mins. After checking 2 more times, I requested a refund. Due to it being my lunchtime, I had time constraints. The customer service was extremely lacking. She was rude and very impersonable. Subsequently, I received my 35 mins after I placed it. You would think that after such a lengthy wait, my food would have been decent. It sadly was not. I really had hope for the sandwich. Asthetically, the food was appealing. Sadly, that was the only appealing thing. The soup was flavorless, and my chicken sandwich was dry and tough. The silver lining was the sweet potato fries. They were ok. Dry, but this was the best part of the meal. It was a very unappealing meal. Needless to say, I didn't finish it. The meal came up to $35. What a waste. Upon the suggestion of a friend, I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. This time, I went for dine in. I ordered the coconut and shrimp pasta and an extra thigh of fried chicken. For appetizers, we order the platter. We chose the chicken wings, jerk chicken spring rolls, and coconut jumbo shrimp. Just a warning the cream sauce that comes with the shrimp is really spicy. Despite the waitress telling me that it had no spice at all. Needless to say, the platter was the best part of the meal. My pasta was filled with spinach. The shrimp in the pasta was tiny. The sauce was soupy and watery at best. It's not worth your money. The silver lining was the frozrn Mango daiquiri. I ordered a mango sunset, which the waitress recommended. Despite that , I was still giving the wrong drink. I will be honest, for the drink being not what i ordered, it was fantastic. Sold 8/10. I finished that for sure. The food, on the other hand, was severely lacking. I really had hoped it would be better. I was wrong. The chicken wings and the jumbo shrimp were ok. I will not be returning to this restaurant. Try your luck. Who knows. To me, it's not worth the time or money!
I was feeling for some goat for my birthday lunch so I jumped on google for the top rated Jamaican food in Brampton. This was top rated! The atmosphere was inviting, and the reggae playing sent me to back in the days. The waitress was nice and patient while we decided. I ordered the two meat meal, goat and oxtail. They don't call me long belly for no reason! I loved the goat, it was perfect! Soft flavor and enough pieces. The oxtail was good but not compared to the goat. My hubby had the fried chicken and he ate all of his food. We will be going back there. I also like the fact that there is a take out section.
If you're looking for authentic Jamaican food with flare, then I highly recommend that you visit Xaymaca Restaurant. Deserving of 5+ rating, they have exceeded my expectations with customer service, restaurant ambiance and food. Food made and plated with love, my favourites from their menu include the grilled jerk salmon w/mango salsa and white rice. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Also loved the jerk chicken spring rolls, fried plantain and red pea soup as appetizers. My server Ashley was knowledgeable, attentive and very friendly. I'm looking forward to another visit and trying her dessert recommendations - rum cake!
Meals were absolutely tasty and perfectly balanced from the appetizers to the entrees. Popcorn fish was surprisingly GOOD and the fried chicken was one of the best I've had in a while. Portion size is very filling. Couldn't find a complaint. The server was pleasant and the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back!
We went here for dinner last night. The food was the best I ve ever had! The presentation was amazing! The staff are so friendly and the establishment itself is just warm, cozy and inviting! I highly recommend this place! We had the jerk Alfredo pasta, jerk spring rolls and the steamed snapper and everything was so good!!!
Food and service were amazing .. .finger licking good Soup ,pork, chicken festival, plaintain rice was amazing Food : 5/5
I had a wonderful first experience at Xaymaca Restaurant with my girlfriend. The food was outstanding I ordered the duo of oxtail and curry goat with rice and peas, and we started with the appetizer tray featuring escovitch fish, jerk chicken spring rolls, festival, bammy, and saltfish. Everything was delicious, though the jerk chicken spring rolls weren t my favorite. The homemade pineapple ginger drink was so good, I had two glasses! The service was friendly and accommodating, and while the main course took a bit of time, the appetizers kept us satisfied. The presentation was appealing, and the atmosphere felt authentically Jamaican, right down to the voicemail! I highly recommend this spot and am looking forward to the jazz and blues vibes this Saturday.
Im very skeptical about Caribbean restaurants especially when it comes to sitting in. But today I when at this restaurants and I was impressed. I loved the food and the environment was very chillaxing!!!
If my dining experience at Xaymaca Restaurant has taught me anything it is that there is mouthwatering Jamaican cuisine available with excellent customer service in Brampton, ON. From a table of 6 adults and 1 toddler everyone enjoyed their meal with total satisfaction. Our server Mos personality is engaging and she made excellent recommendations. I dont think I will be going anywhere else for yaad-food again....when the bar has been raised by Xaymaca, why settle for less! Amazing experience!!!!
Worst experience
As a first-timer to your amazing hotel, I can honestly say you ve set the bar high and by high, I mean like Mount Everest level! Your food was not just delicious, it was 110/100 (yes, I did the math), and if I wasn t trying to act professional, I would ve asked for a to-go box the size of my car. I can confirm our youth were as full of gratitude as they were of your incredible food. Thank you again for your kindness, hospitality, and for putting up with our group for another year. You ve earned yourselves an annual spot in our hearts (and our stomachs).
Food came 40 minutes after take out order
Food was great .
Cassava & steam fish has been calling my name for 3 days sooo good
On August 10, 2024 I visited Xaymaca due to a referral from a relative and I was pleasantly surprised to see and taste that she was not exaggerating when she said the food was 5 star. I also had the immense pleasure of meeting Gabby & Mo who were serving us that evening and both ladies were extremely professional, courteous, warm and very, very friendly. We were a group of 6 including a toddler and when I discreetly advised them that it was my daughters birthday they went above and beyond and brought out a slice of cake (with a candle) after our main meal and not only that, but they sang Happy Birthday to my daughter who although is a 46 yr old adult was not only taken by surprise but was extremely touched that they did that. I cant thank both Mo and Gabby enough for the effort they put in to make my daughters birthday one that shell remember for a very long long time. Thank you ladies And folks if youre looking for a delicious authentic Jamaican cuisine Xaymaca is the restaurant to go, trust me you will not be disappointed.
Had the steam fish, was not fresh, gave me diarrhea, and the staff is so rude I would recommend to stay away!
I order the curry goat to take out and the goat was tender and tasted very good great place to dine in also food is on point check it point guys.
Fresh Jamaican food made right, will be back.
This place reminds me of home. The food, the ambiance, the service is authentic and catered to the customers needs. I ve had the pleasure being served by Ashley on multiple occasions and she elevated the experience with her jokes and warm spirit. My favourite is the Jerk pork sandwich and the jerk chicken poutine. If you re thinking of trying, Do so!! Parking: In Brampton.. around 10 parking spot
Great food and excellent customer service. Its nice to have a sit down experience with a caribbean restaurant. They also do catering, and the prices are fair.
Excellent Service and Good quality tasty Food
My mother was approaching a milestone birthday and I was seeking a Jamaican restaurant for a large party. Xamayca was truly perfect for our Event needs From the beginning Marlon and staff was so kind, answered all of my questions and accommodated all of our food and decor requests. We had a great section and ample food for my guests. My family truly enjoyed and absolutely loved the vibes. Big thank you to the team
Oxtail peas and Rice were not worth the price the rice was dry food.
Always an amazing time at this restaurant the staff here are so friendly and the food is great.
Friendly atmosphere, service and promotions provide added value. It makes it easy to explore their menu. Definite must try .
My wife and I were in the area and thought it would be cool to check out a West Indian restaurant in the area as we dont visit the west much. We went to three restaurants before we got to Xaymaca. Even when we got there, we thought it may be like the previous... but once we went in, we were pleasantly surprised!! The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and as a Jamaican, we know that some of our establishments dont have the friendliest welcomes. But that was not the case here. I wish I knew her name, but she took the experience up a notch with her knowledge of the food and drink specials and her whole vibe was like that of old Jamaica. Warm and very friendly!! And just as important, the food was hot, fresh, and super delicious!!! Wife had the burger infused with Oxtail gravy and fresh cut fries, and I had the bbq chicken with rice and peas! Next, I will have to try the snapper!! I highly recommend that you give them a try!
It s decent but their portions are way too small for price. Especially with a competitive cuisine, you can get the same thing in the area for the same amount with more food. And no I m not greedy it s just fancy restaurant style portions.
Great spot for lunch or dinner. Food taste delicious. Presentation is excellent. Serving is hugh.
Love it! Their food taste so nice. Its just chill vibes
Got the oxtail and curry goat mixed. It came to $27 I thought it would be food for 2 because $27??!! Anyways I got the food and the portion size blew my mind !!!!! Kid you not, it was like a spoon and a half of rice, there was literally 2 pieces of oxtail and 3 pieces of goat. I said this better taste fire for my money.. I was PISSED!!! Flavour was definitely a 4/10 I m not sure what was in the macaroni salad but it was sour never again !!!!!
Found hair in my alfredo pasta
This place has the best Caribbean food on the GTA
I got the jerk pork and ribs with rice and peas and five festivals. I must say the meats were delicious they were well seasons and full of flavor/spices. The first word out of my husband mouth after his first bite into the pork was this full ah flavor eh. It was delicious and very tasty
Brown stew fish was not good to charge people that much
Food was delicious. Was a catered event!. My fav was the jerk chicken tacos. Unfortunate I live in Scarborough or I would be a frequent customer
The beef ribs are the best definitely value for your . Restaurant is very clean as well.
Great food and great service. Gabby was fantastic!
Faster service
All around great everything!
Good
Went to this place and they tried to say I was stealing because my card wasnt working typical Jamaican people. I wont be visiting this place again. This guy that made this allegation has a wild imagination even went as far as to say my banking application wasnt accurate
This is my absolute favourite place to eat. The owner is amazing and the servers are kind and welcoming. I heard that their fried chicken is the best this side of the Islands but I love the jerk shrimp, rice and peas and festival the most. The rice and peas is made in the traditional Jamaican way with fresh coconut milk. A proper dessert menu which would include a slice of rum cake and rum and raisin icecream would make this place a 11/10. The vibe is just very nice in there. Its such a nice place to go on a date, have a birthday party , or family dinner. Its just sooo good!!
Very friendly staff!
The food was really good. The presentation was great and the atmosphere is nice too. The waitresses were very nice but we waited almost an hour for our food. It took them 30 minutes to give us just soup which they should have already made before we order. We watched them send out 6 to 7 online orders before we get ours food for dining. I thought that was a bit much.
Great food authentic slow cooked and delicious Parking: Lots Food : 5/5 |
Amazing food, willing to come back just because of the food. Although depending on the server, its hit or miss. That alone, makes me not want to dine in.
Great food and service. Exactly what I need when craving a taste of home
Great food and service.
What can I say, other than amazing authentic Caribbean food. Extremely flavorful, tasty and left me wanting more. A family run business. A blessed family. You feel the tender love and care in the food. Attended my churchs New Years Eve service there and I was pleasantly surprised with space. Very large with adequate seating and a bar on site. A good spot for that date, meeting and a sports nite!! Appetizers were so good: Ackee n Saltfish Bruschetta; Jerk and BBQ Wings; Festival: Spring rolls (Jerk chicken) and Jerk chicken Tacos with Golden brown fried Plaintains. So tasty I forgot to take pics prior to eating but, did manage 2:) I encourage you to take a trip. Worth getting off the bus- bus stop right in front or driving!! This spot gets my vote and 5+stars Kid-friendliness: Good space. We had families with children who were able to move around freely without accidents. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs. Flat and the servers extremely accommodating.
The coffee was very good. Great service. The rice and peas dish was somewhat dry. Parking: Lots of parking available
Much more than I expected, in a good way . Try it Food
A hidden gem in Brampton. Food is very tasty, and the ambiance is nice. Portions could be bigger for the price, but there arent many Jamaican restaurants like this, so Ill overlook that part. Definitely leaves you wanting more.
Food was delicious. Definitely going back.
We had a Prayer Breakfast Service, the location and food was great!
Great spot hiding in a Plaza! Food takes too long though. Love the BBQ fried chicken and the Jerk Chicken spring rolls! Relaxed atmosphere and the service is excellent!
The food here is amazing ! Just make sure you have at least 45mins to wait for your meal, especially if its take out closer to an hour.
Awesome food all around, some of the best ribs you could get.
Had an absolutely delicious lunch, ordered their lunch special jerk chicken rice and peas with some oxtail gravy and their hot sauce. Enjoyed every little bit. Highly recommend
Good food, good service.. will come back
The food was soo good! The portions were filling. It was a bit slow today because of the weather. But even with the bad weather people were still coming in and out. Seems pretty popular Vegetarian options: They even have a vegan option! Parking: Lots of parking available
Customer service was great. Really nice place. However I just bought some ackee and salt fish by itself... and I paid $11. Small container or maybe its a medium for you. There was not much in the foam container. I wasnt happy.
Great food, great service.
Excellent Jamaican food. Customer service could have been better but the quality of the good made up for the lack of smiles.
Went last night for the first time. The restaurant was clean, had a good vibe, loved the music. I tried the oxtail. Really enjoyed it. Our server was very kind and attentive, she took a few mins at the end of our meal to ask our feedback. I know that I will be returning to try other items.
My first time at this restaurant was great. The male server was professional and welcoming . Today, the service was cold , unfriendly, the wait for the food so long and only 2 other couples. I was not impressed with the customer service today. I m not going back. The guy is great. But this lady today should never serve anyone food.
I frequently visit Xaymaca at different times of the day, different days of the week. This most recent visit was late afternoon this past Saturday. The atmosphere is always amazing: old school reggae playing, along with a sports game, neither competing with the other, which I love. I can sing along to the songs and my family can watch the games. In the order was: Appetizer for 2 (2 orders of bammy and ackee, escovitch popcorn fish & jerk chicken spring rolls), 1 extra order of spring rolls, Alfredo pasta with jerk shrimp instead of chicken, Barbefried chicken with fries, Fried chicken with rice and peas, Fried snapper with steamed veggies. I wish I had pictures to share of the food, because the presentation is amazing, but when it comes, SO PIPING HOT all you can think about is eating it!!! All ingredients were well seasoned, full of flavour, not at all spicy flavourful and tasted so fresh. The only caveat is be prepared for a wait. Because Jamaican food requires more cooking time and in order to maintain the quality (flavour and freshness) of the food, they cant pre-cook a lot of the food and put it down for someone to order. So it may take a bit to get the food, but the wait is definitely worth it!!! The bathrooms and restaurant itself is always clean and immaculate. ALWAYS a visit again. Great place for family nights out, girls night out or even study sessions, because I seen all of those occasions at the restaurant.
Great service and food was yummy. Ashley was a sweetheart Ill def be back next time Im in brampton area
Was treated out for my birthday dinner here, I loved all the Jamaican food options and the price was reasonable. An overall awesome experience.. Parking: Several spots in front of this location some shared with neighboring businesses.. Wheelchair accessibility: There are no steps to go into this business
Food was well presented and delicious.
Order food online scheduled a time to pick it up from mind you I am coming from Malton. I got to the store on the time I requested for food to be ready, I got there and they are going to tell me there was a mishap with my order and nobody bother to call. I had to wait more than 30 mins at the store. Not at all happy with the customer service. On top of that nothing was offered to me due to the inconvenience. Will not be ordering from here again.
Its was fire mon
My To- go spot the oxtail× curry goat amazing!!!
Something for everyone there! Escovitch popcorn fish is the bomb. So creative. Great presentation too. I recommend
The food is very delicious and they have a great staff, probably the best staff of all the Jamaican restaurants. They really don t give you any attitude. However, I wish they would take orders over the phone. Nonetheless, it s great restaurant for dining.
Nice place to eat Carribean foods
Horrible food I waited and waited I should have known something was wrong they were rewarming stale food. I was charged $19.49 for a small ackee, they added $2 for an upgrade for 3 bananas. My question is what was the standard? Call the server Ashley she hangs up on me. That is why they cant reach anywhere.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food here. The oxtail & curry goat was next level.
Oxtail lunch was good, would definitely recommend
If you do one thing this summer, get the seafood boil!! It was delicious and the portion was very generous for 1-2 people. It was spicy and savoury and honestly I would lick the gloves if people wouldn t judge me. The kids also enjoyed their food. Everything was made in house and worth the wait. And yes, you will wait, so have a nice conversation with some good people. Ashley was lovely and took care of us well. Wish we weren t on vacation so we could come back sooner!!
Omg food was hot and sooooo good! This is the best little secret in Nova Scotia! I would give more than 5 stars if possible. Bravo and thank you Chef!
I truly enjoy this restaurant. I come all the way from the East End just to enjoy when I make a stop in Brampton.
Almost $20 for 5pcs of oxtail, 1 scoop of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni, are you kidding? Staff was fairly nice, but the prices are way off.
If you re in Brampton and craving an authentic taste of Jamaica that s made with heart and soul look no further than Xaymaca Restaurant. Tucked away in the bustling city, this hidden gem is not just a restaurant, It s a passionate family s labour of love, and it shows in every delectable bite. The moment you step inside your welcomed with a warm embrace of Jamaican culture. The legendary ox tail, a dish that speaks volumes about the kitchens dedication to authenticity and taste. The tender fall off the bone meat is infused with the melody of flavours that tell a story of tradition and culinary expertise. It s a dish that truly pays homage to Jamaican roots. Also recommend jerk shrimp and jerk salmon. Thank you Gabby for a fantastic dining experience! As a first time visitor, I can confidently say that I ll be a repeat customer without a doubt. If you re looking for more than just a meal, if you are yearning for an escape to the vibrant flavours of Jamaica, all while being embraced by a passionate families love, then this hidden treasure in Brampton is an absolute must visit.
My partner and I went here some weeks ago, and we had a great time. The vibe was nice, the place was clean, and the food was impeccable. I asked the server if they had sorrel, and her response had my partner, whos Jamacian laughing. Unfortunately, they were closed on the previous holiday cause we had the whole family getting ready for Xaymaca lol but well be back soon!
Really really disappointed with the amount of food for the price charged. Literally 8 piece of garlic shrimp with a small side of steam veggie with no rice for $30. Waited 55mins for my food. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
Seafood pasta with supposedly a lobster tail. Overcooked. Insulting. $37 would have been better spent at eating fake crab from the supermarket. Not recommended.
Good food, big portions thats why the prices are big. Nice bar with lots of TV, good music and friendly staff Dietary restrictions: You can ask them all of your dietary needs Parking: Lots of open parking last I was there
The atmosphere was amazing and the server is so nice. Great place to eat !
Hidden gem great flavors loved it Vegetarian options: Vegan option is amazing Dietary restrictions: Vegan no animal by products
Food was delicious and the server was friendly and helpful.
Awful experience, my food took so long, over an hour wait. Food was spoiled. Will never go back!
This place has really gone downhill. Used to be an amazing place to eat but not so anymore. A lot of the menu items werent even available.
This was my first time coming to this restaurant and I have to say it was a great experience! We decided to try it after seeing the great reviews. First of all the service is excellent. Our server Marlon was so nice and gave us excellent recommendations. The food was so good and great menu options. The food presentation was just outstanding and seasoned to perfection. The restaurant was very clean and spacious. The rum cheesecake is incredible. Will definitely be back!
Long wait for pickup
Food was really good here. Got the jerk Chicken and Fry chicken. I will try their curry Goat next.
It was my first visit here, my best friend took me for lunch and it was the best steam fish and crackers I ve ever had, not to mention the red peas soup. The service was wonderful - you guys have earned life long customer.
The red snapper escovitch is some of the best Ive had outside of Jamaica! The guava and passion fruit milkshake is a must try, and so is the jerk chicken Alfredo!!
They have changed the taste of the food and it is not as good anymore plus the prices have gone up
I went with a group of nurses the food was excellent and service was good. The outside does not reflect what the restaurant looks like inside. The inside is very comfortable and spacious has a large bar with a good selection Vegetarian options: Someone had a vegetarian dish and said it was tasty
we had curry goat and it was delicious great atmosphere..
I have dined in a few times and had there take out food. I throughly enjoyed their chicken soup, festivals, lobster creamy linguine pasta, barbi fried chicken, ackee salad appetizers with bammy I can go on. Please try for yourself.
Taste so good.
The hostess in the burgundy hair had such a bad attitude.
not the greatest
Very tasty food
Food taste was off
Can we start with the fact that they were open at 12 noon and ran out of strawberry daiquiri by 1230 with only my party and 2 other customers with only 1 being ordered. Then they only had 2 sippy cups for children. For food to take 2.5 hours to come out and the upsetting part is that the food actually taste good. The children were bawling and falling asleep by the time the food was to come, and I say was because we had to cancel multiple dishes. the owner didnt even come to acknowledge us as a group of 20, and when we tried to give constructive criticism ( no yelling just expressing that the service was terrible and what he could have done better) he has such a I dont care attitude! It really sucks because the food was really good but the service was terrible will not be going back and majority of my party said the same to thing... Im really sad its one of my own..
Went to this place on Thursday, December 7th around 5pm. Two ladies at the front register didnt acknowledge me, even though there were no other customers. Tried asking about the menu, got ignored until I asked again, and one said, In a minute. After 5 minutes of just standing there, I started reading out my order, and finally, one of them took it. Customer service was really poor. Despite the good looks and tasty food, staff need better training. They said my order would be ready in 10-20 mins, but I ended up waiting for 40 mins, making me late for an appointment. Plus, they forgot the oxtail gravy on my rice and peas, so I had dry rice. The red pea soup was delicious, the fried chicken was good but the macaroni salad wasn t good.
The food is great, but the service is terrible. She would never look at us, so it was difficult to get her attention. Took 10+ min to get 1 drink, and there were only a couple of people in the entire restaurant. At one point, she was sitting at the bar with her head down. This is the 2nd time Ive had slow service with the same server. I hope you will pick up your service or you will lose customers.
The wait time was horrendous. They were clearly understaffed and overcrowded. The food was good and the Pina Colada was good but everything took forever and communication was lacking. The server was trying her best to serve everyone but more staff needed.
Food delicious however they didnt have sufficient serving staff so the wait was long for food.
Vegetarian options: Was delicious Food
The food is excellent but the service is absolutely deplorable! If u drag your feet and are slow to deliver the service it makes every thing else awful. Sorry! Vegetarian options: Very good and tasty!
Service and atmosphere was amazing but the prices ridiculous for that quality of food. Great otherwise.
Read the reviews online someone mentioned that it was the best oxtail in the city unfortunately its not Im not a fan of the sweet tasting oxtail as well as I ordered a large and I literally got five pieces of oxtail and they werent even decent pieces. Bill was roughly 19 dollars and something cents and then with 15% tip it came out to 22 something. But even without the tip almost $20 for a large oxtail I dont mind the price but at least make it worth it. Oxtail was a 6.5/10. Also the containers they give you basically limit you as well what are we in a cafeteria or jail? LOL whats the reviews I read were about bad service but I cant knock the service today it was pretty quick but there was only two customers in there so I cant comment on it when its busy but unfortunately I will not be returning.
A bit on the pricier side, but the food is flavourful and decent portions.
Staff were welcoming and friendly. Worse curry goat i have ever had. Zero seasoning.
This place is too notch. The good is always on pint and the server is amazing.
Soup was good, food not so great. I dining like that they didnt take orders over the phone
Very good service excellent
The food was not good; I ordered the oxtail dinner and paid $19+ only to receive a half bowl of rice ( which was quite hard). They literally gave me 3 pieces of oxtail and a quarter container of Macaroni salad . I am not happy at all. This is why its best to just stay home and cook your own food. I will not be returning.
The food is outstanding and the service amazing.
We did a 40th birthday dinner here and the service was top notch! They were so helpful and friendly and I didnt once feel like I was bothering them or asking too much. They accommodated all of my requests and made my guests feel welcomed and cared for. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good west indian food in a place with a nice caribbean vibe!
We live in Cambridge now, but still we find ourselves coming back every time we are in town. Food is always fresh and hot. Service is great, facility is clean. Music is good. Festival is top notch!
This was my first time at this restaurant. Went here with my wife for a date. Upon arrival I was impressed by the overall vibe and atmosphere of the restaurant. Very elegant and chill. The service was amazing as my server was kind. The menu wasnt confusing and the food prices were great. We had some apps and ribs. All items were presented well and were very tasty. Would definitely recommend. Great place for a date or hanging out with friends. This is not your typical Jamaican restaurant. Definitely a cut above the rest.
Really good food.
Made to perfection!! Great customer service , reasonable prices and the food is amazing!!!. You will not regret this choice.
Food was excellent service was very good only problem is that its very expensive!
The lady at the front don t know how to talk to people. She also told me 15 mins for my food but had me wait a hour I was in a rush to the food it self was not season good only God knows how mad I was I wasted money and my time on this place
Ive been to this location multiple times and they always exceed my expectations. My favorite meal there is the roast fish Mouth watering very delicious, When food good it just good!.. Ive always brought different people to their restaurant. Not to mention there customer service. Even though Im living in the East end now whenever Im in btown I gotta make a stop there
Love it!
I took my 91yrs mother out for mothers day dinner. Very clean and waitstaff was very friendly but it took 55 minutes to get appetizers and another 35 minutes to get half our food and it wasnt busy because there were open tables. We had a party of 7 and 2 people still has not gotten their food even though the rest of us finish eating. I am very disappointed and dont think I will be back or recommend this place.
This was my 1st experience at this restaurant and will be the last. I feel that people who own restaurant should be able to balance their take out clients vs their in person clients and to teach their servers/staff basic customer service. Tell me why I arrived at this location around 3:45pm and DID NOT RECEIVE FOOD UNTIL ALMOST 8PM. I know youre wondering why stay. Mothers Day Menu. Met my in laws for a late lunch they arrived shortly before my husband, my son and myself arrive. First impressions what a pleasant place to have a meal. Staff greeted us, very nice and polite. We got settled in and now about to place our order. Server wanted to know if we were ready to order, then she realized hey I forgot the menu. She did not return until about 15-20 mins. Ok at that time no big deal as we killed time by talking to one another. Server comes back after 15-20 mins later to ask if were ready. We advised yes but she forgot the tablet to place the order. Lackadaisical our server was, it was ssooo frustrating to repeat to ask to get their attention for thi gs that are needed. Example my inlaw ordered ice cream but she forgot the spoon, then you had to wait extra amount of minutes for her to return. So because I was getting frustrated with the long wait for my food I let the restaurant know how unhappy I was with their service. The chef told me that everyone has to wait with a no care attitude. Hey I understood that theres always a wait no matter where you go, but not for 3.5 hrs for food. This is not Scotchies. My in laws got their food at 5:30 pm. I figured we would get ours about 6ish. Staff guaranteed that our meal was coming. Well that didnt happen until almost 8 pm. Arrived when sun was up and left when the sun went down. Weve invested to much of our time to just get up and leave. Plus its Mothers day need I say more. Finally received an appetizers after 6 pm after voicing my opinion with the chef. But still had to wait almost 2 hrs to receive the food. Lobster n shrimp. What it look like it could feed a toddler for the portion that my husband received. DISAPPOINTED for $65 dish +$3 for veggies. My dish was jerk chicken, pork and ribs with steam veggies. It was the most was pathetic dish I have every received from a chef who claims they can make authentic jamaican dishes. I received not the ribs that everyone here is displaying, but dried up ribs less than half a rack, chicken that wasnt jerk but looked stew and the kicker JERK PORK MIA on my plate but want to charge full price. This is why its hard to support people that look like me because its always a disappointment. If I could really rate this restaurant it would be in the negatives..
The scenery is really well put together, and the food was good compared to other caribbean food joints!
Xaymaca was a good culinary experience. We had various meals from the appetizer plate to curry shrimp. The fried chicken and the ribs were delicious. The music created a enjoyable ambiance and the staff were very friendly. If you are in a rush, this may not be the place for you, but the food was well worth the wait. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Brampton area.
Absolutely delicious
Nice place, the steam fish is good here.
We hosted a dinner party that was reserved in advance. There were two servers for a party of 38 people. The dinner started at 5:30 pm and we started getting meals at 9 pm. Everything was late and the orders were all done in confusion. When we complained the server said next time it s better to come as a small group and the food will be on time and taste better.
Bright, friendly, clean, large open layout. The food is fantastic! Great to see these days for Brampton. They dont cut corners, they provide great service, very welcoming. They are helpful, and generous - making me feel ver comfortable.
Went there for lunch. Great appetizers and the portions a good. I prefer the oxtail over the curry goat.
Excellent food dishes, good sized portions. Just enough spice!
The soup....not that great - could have cooked down some more and the chicken provided in my soup looked old...
Good food and great service!
A bit expensive for the portions. Curry Goat ok. Ox tail not that flavourful. Red peas soup ok but no provisions like yam or dumpling. Curry shrimp great but portion small for what you pay. Ackee and Salt fish also great but portion small again. Great selection of variety and Good atmosphere. Just prices expensive.
Great Caribbean food
Ended up here sort of by accident. Getting car washed next door and had some time to kill. Great food. Friendly and helpful staff. Glad I ended up here!
This is by far on of the best Jamaican restaurants Ive ever been to. The server/ bartender was excellent. The drinks he made were delicious. The food was fresh and tasty. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
The decor was great, the food was good BUT the portions of goat and oxtail were VERY SMALL. I m on a diet so I was okay but my Husband was Not okay with the VERY SMELL PORTIONS OF MEAT for the cost. On a whole the wait staff needed to be on the ball and communicate what was available and what was NOT available. Service and portions need to be re-evaluated.
Soooooo goood
I recently dined in with my husband on a Sunday afternoon & it was a great experience. I love the home feel of the restaurant, the relaxed atmosphere & hospitality of the servers. The food was AMAZING & we have plans to visit again soon.
Really nice guy that took my order and the food was made with love. Delicious!!!!
Good food, very very slow service.
Although the gentleman at the take-out was friendly and accommodating, we werent thrilled with the food. We got an order of ackee/salt fish w/banana, bbq chick w/rice/peas/salad, chix soup and a side of plantain. Im going to review dish by dish. The ackee was mediocre at best. I found the serving quite small, with little salt fish to be found and lacking in a LOT of flavor. The bbq chix, itself, was delicious! Very tasty. The rice n peas, however, I found dry and completely flavorless. A TIP to the restaurant: dont put the side salad in the same container as the hot food. What do you think will happen to that crisp lettuce while surrounded by steam? Cmon? Im truly not trying to sound harsh; I promise! Im trying to be constructive. The chix soup was another disappointment. Simply put, I found most of their dishes lacked flavor/seasonings. Im not talking about pepper/heat. Ppl can add that themselves. I cant take pepper/heat. Im talking about seasoning the food a bit better. Im certainly no chef in JA food, but theres one thing I can guarantee, my 40min rice n peas, my ackee/salt fish and my chix soup taste ten-times more Jamaican than we found with their food. We were bewildered with the 5-star reviews. Beyond bewildered in fact. I might return here though. Im always willing to give places a 2nd shot, especially a JA one. I dont live around Xaymaca, but when Im in the area next, I might stop by. Again, look at these type of reviews as constructive.
The food was very good.
The food was delicious
Server was very pleasant and helpful. Like the place and the food was good, loved the variety. Will definitely return to try other things
The roast fish taste real good!
Kid-friendliness: Great food, amazing service & fair prices
Great restuarant been a long time since I sat down in a Caribbean restuarant not many around. The food omg was on point and the homemade sorrel was a hit and the popcorn fish mouth watering I will be making regular stops at this restuarant
Impossible to get in contact with anyone from this establishment. Your recording is way too long and you re still not able to reach anyone after listening to the unnecessarily long call recording for a simple general inquiry. UPDATE**** Oh and just to be clear .. I did press 3 to speak to with a server twice and there was no answer.
Ordered Jerk chicken and rice for an event. It was a hit that my guest asked where it was from? Which of course gave them your information. Sorry did not get a chance to take picture of the food.
By far the best Jamaican food in brampton oh my word. You gotta eat here. Jerk chicken is beautifully cooked.
My husband bought us food and the chicken was clearly burnt. He patronizes them all the time and all they had to say was they used too much flour and that it was just extra crispy and not burnt. Needless to say we won t be going back. Poor customer service.
You need to eat here
Loved the vegan menu, food was great
Good food but small portions and super super slow service. Good ambiance and customer service Recommended dishes
Really enjoyed the alfredo pasta with jerk chicken.
Good
I have been purchasing meals from this restaurant since 2019, and few weeks ago they provide the meals for my birthday party. The quality and quantity of their meals are superb and management and employees are extremely professional. Just to name a few of the meals I had. Snapper fish meals are delicious! Ackee and bammy to die for! Lobster linguine finger licking good! Popcorn fish yum yum!
Amazing food as always
Food was good. Presentation really nice. Price also decent. Jerk is not smoky or flavoured like how it is done on the streets of Jamaica but it was still delicious.
The place is clean, has a nice little vibe and the staff is friendly. I had chicken soup and jerked chicken spring rolls for appetizers. I had the jerked chicken pasta. The soup that day tasted like a well-made traditional jamaican chicken soup. It was really good. I loved the spring rolls as well. The jerked chicken pasta was ok. The chicken wasnt the traditional jamaican jerked chicken, so that brought down its marks. Overall, the experience was good and I would go again to try other dishes.
Amazing food, great service. Very authentic Jamaican food. Food also comes out at perfect temperature and timing. Bar tenders have very pleasant manner and very nice to speak to. Vibe is great. Order anything it all tastes amazing.
Food is amazing!!! Take it from a Jamaican who appreciates the authentic Jamaican flavour. You will keep going back!
Great food and service
