Should have dined in sooner. Have being ordering take out for around 20 years but never dined in. that was a mistake. What a gem in Brampton. Very friendly staff. Generous portions. Very fresh sashimi. If you love Japanese food go here!
Amazing place! Great service, been coming here for over a decade. Love their tonkatsu, my sister had their unagi don which she loved. The starter salad has a delicious dressing, miso soup has a great flavour. We had the spicy salmon roll which tasted very fresh, will definitely continue to come back to this place.
We stumbled upon Toshi and decided to check it out. It had a very warm and homey atmosphere. We were sitting at the table by the window and it felt like we were sitting at someone's kitchen table. The service was equally warm with very attentive and friendly servers. The food was tasty. I asked for gluten free soy sauce and they brought it to the table. We left with very full bellies. If you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy a nice evening with good sushi, I recommend Toshi.
Great place we finally tried out. Ramen was delicious however egg was a little overcooked - nevertheless great dish. Very traditional interior, we loved it.
They're being featured by AMEX Shop promo but they don't accept American Express cards. It's unfair because businesses would get rebates and perks by accepting all cards (Visa, Mastercard, and Amex) but they put on their machine that they don't accept Amex. They would literally reverse the transaction. Service is ok. Food is good but takes a long time to be prepared so place your order right away. Lighting is quite dim.
Great quality, quantity and amazing service! We've been to other Japanese restaurants but Toshi has my heart! The ingredients were SO fresh with very little wait time. They are passionate about the food served. We'll be back for our next sushi & teriyaki craving to this hidden gem!
It was my first time dining here and it was beyond amazing. The staff is friendly and the portions are huge. The food was also really tasty and I loved the presentation of each dish. I will definitely be returning to enjoy their other Menu items!
These guys are goood!!! We have been ordering here for a while and it’s always delightful. The veggie tempura always surprises us, this time they had a mix of Okra, onions, eggplant, taro, pumpkin and asparagus along with others! It was superb. Their pickle rolls and avocado rolls are delicious as well! Check out their menu!
Hands down, one of the best sushi places I ve ever been to. Everything was super delicious, the service was fantastic, everyone was so friendly and courteous. Black sesame ice cream is outstanding!
Told the server there was a hair in our food and all she said was ok and then left. Katsu don was very bad and had raw egg and chicken teriyaki was nothing special at all. This place is a skip
the chef took 40mins to make a small order they need to speed up
Very good Japanese food. Clean,friendly.
Great experience here! Loved the salmon and yakiniku bento box. Great quality, cook and flavours
Best Sushi in GTA. Awesome customer service!!
Servings are getting smaller and smaller. Large is almost $20 and very sparse.
We love this restaurant and the ladies that take care of us there. Saturday is shopping day, and we usually have dinner here if we are heading to Georgetown. The food is awesome, and the cost is great!
Really liked their salmon and the beef yakiniku teriyaki
Great food great price value for money
Love going to Toshi. Not only are they generous with their portions, but also they pride themselves on quality & taste. Our comfort food spot!
I ve lived in Brampton for a while and this is my go to sushi restaurant.
A good option for a dine in sushi experience for those that don t want an AYCE option. Kid-friendliness: They brought out crayons and paper for our little one. They also had a little bowl/plate/cutleries. A nice touch
Some good days and some bad days. They aren t consistent with their food. On a busy weekend day sushi isn t prepared with care too many times I ve had sloppy broken sushi not rolled right and at times I ve had excellent rolls Same with their teriyaki always order medium yakinuku and chicken some orders have good quantity of meat and sometimes they barely give you any Decent food but need to be the same always with portion size of meat and also don t rush on the sushi just because you re busy.
Nice little restaurant for authentic sushi/maki and other dishes
This is the best Japanese restaurant I have been to. The food is of premium quality that I have not seen matched by any other Japanese restaurant in Peel.
Amazing food! Great customer service! Highly recommend
Service was amazing.
Great food for the money and staff was very helpful and friendly
Despite showing up only 45 minutes prior to closing time they were happy for us to dine in (I offered just to order take out instead). One other patron was welcomed to dine in even later than us. The food was lovely. The tempura appetizer was so yummy so I highly recommend it. We also order a couple of sushi rolls and ramen noodles. Everything seemed to be made with the freshest of ingredients. The service was above and beyond. We ll definitely be going back.
Sweet dynamite rolls so much miracle whip never had that in dynamite rolls before and the salad wasn t great either
Very good food, would highly recommend
Food tasted great, especially the takoyaki, but man is the food expensive. But the kicker was the speed in which the food was prepared was quite slow, and the place was not too busy. They seem to be understaffed in terms of cooks. Clean bathrooms though.
Food always good and fast Vegetarian options: Veggie options Food : 4/5 |
First and potentially the last time here. Came here with a friend to grab sushi before a school event. Ordered two orders of a spicy salmon roll and spicy tuna roll, one for myself and one for another. The roll was creamy (and not in a positive way) you could not tell what kind of fish was in either roll, until you tasted it because the tuna tasted stringy and canned. I have had incredible sushi and this was not it. I was so disappointed especially given the rating. The friend ordered veg rolls and had a better experience. But the friend who I bought for could not even finish her sushi. If you want authentic fresh sushi, I would not recommend this place. Go for the veg rolls.
The steak teriyaki was great.
Great food - wish they were open Sun/Mon though
Absolutely amazing experience, exceptional food and friendly staff! Would highly recommend a visit!
Always fresh, large sized portions and super friendly staff!
Thrilled that the dining room is re-opened. Thoroughly enjoyed the yakiniku and chicken dinner!
Authentic Japanese vibe here. There are so many traditional Japanese decos inside. Foods are very similar to ones in Japan. The volume and prices are very reasonable.
Food is always good here.
Honestly... Best sushi/Maki ever. Chef James is a great person. There hasnt been anything on the menu Ive tried that I disliked. Great service and very respectful. Kid-friendliness: They have everything set up and are ready to go for kids. Kids chopsticks, booster seats, friendliness training towards them.
Great sushi, great service and great environment! Super clean and aesthetically pleasing
Best Japanese food in Brampton! My family and I have been coming here for almost a decade. Everything weve ever had here is just delicious from sushi or shashimi to Bento boxes and Ramen, we always leave happy. The staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful, going to Toshi is always a pleasure.
As always, delicious and wonderful service!!
Second time here. Never disappointed. Affordably priced. Chicken & Beef Teriyaki was not sweet to my liking. Overall was great experience.
Very disorganized. We were told it would be a 20 min wait... took almost an hour before they told us that part of our order had accidentally been taken back after being mistaken for extra dishes. We had to wait even longer for it to be recooked. The food ended up being bland and nothing really memorable. Wont be going back.
Excellent food but little expensive.
Weve been coming here since 2013 and this place has never let up on their quality. There are a lot of restaurants which increased their prices after the Covid shut downs, but are serving up bad food. Toshi has also increased their prices but kept the safety and quality of the food up. I just eat less now, maybe thats a good thing.
Not sure if people who review highly arent familiar with good sushi. If rating objectively, comparing against AYCE, other sushi places (like Sushi House, or restaurants in Toronto), Toshi sushi doesnt even compare. As the other reviewer said, some rolls had lettuce in them (I find lettuce to be incredibly inappropriate in sushi) and some fish tasted funky to the point of being inedible. I make homemade sushi that is more palatable than what I was served here. I would say if youre not picky with sushi, and dont eat sushi a lot, you probably will be OK. If you love sushi, you will be disappointed.
Great Food But Last time Visiting. Prices have gone crazy. One Sign forb$24.50 is now covered by a new sign $38.50. Really ? Did your products increase that much ? Cause portions are the Same. Good while it lasted
Very friendly staff and the food was excellent!
Never will come back here again. Terrible signage. Spent $20 for Ramen, only had 3 pieces of pork. Rest was all noodles, no corn. If I wanted to just eat noodles I d make ramen noodles at home. Never again. Waste of money I ll never get back
Theyre food never disappoints & is surprisingly delicious despite it being takeout. Well prepared, holes cut in the container to provent fried tempura from steaming, plenty of sauce for dipping, well seasoned & enjoyable.
Miss dining at the restaurant but well do with takeout for now.
Rice was hard and overall wasnt that great and 50 for 10 pieces of tuna sushi is crazy
Fantastic
The Absolute best place to get Japanese food in brampton. The sushi is great and feels fresh on the tongue, the soups are nice and rich yet not too salty. The rice is perfect and a great mouthful. Honestly my only complaint is that I cant eat it every day. I honestly love this place and recommend everyone to try it out. Dining in being a much better experience but Take out doesnt lower the food quality at all.
Good eats, good service. Kid-friendliness: Family eatery Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options
Ive been eating Toshi for 10 years now. Always delicious, healthy options, friendly service, great price. My favorite is the ginger pork. The takoyaki tastes just like it does in Japan. Sushi is always fresh with great variety. Love this place.
Literally my favourite sushi place in Brampton, everything is delicious they are always quick to bring you tea water and your order!!! When you sit in the atmosphere is just incredible they have beautiful decor and I seem to find something new and different that I havent seen before there every time! Lastly the people, literally just the loveliest staff always whether you dine in or take out my experience with them has always been 11/10 if I could give them more stars I would because this is truly just a wonderful place.
Such a great gem in Brampton. If you looking for authentic food this is it! I would highly recommend. It is quite, cozy and great cultural atmosphere. The staff there are super sweet and kind to their customers.
Happy to be back. Servers are pleasant & very attentive. Food is EXCELLENT as always.
Takoyaki is to die for. My friend who is allergic to Sesame seeds risked it all to try it. Hes no longer with us but he enjoyed it. RIP Samothy Peace down atown up Food
Food is amazing and honestly a surprise for being in Brampton. I will continue to come here in honor of my past friend. Rest in peace Samothy
Amazing food and service!! Cant wait to go back
Toshi is one of my favourite Japanese food places. The food is filling and so tasty. Authentic tasting as well! Dietary restrictions: Fish allergy
I would rate a 5 except theres a sheer of steel dishasher sponge in my Misou soup....that ruined my entire appetizer...the Sashimi is good in no doubt.
The service was exceptional and the ambience is also very appealing. Loved the place & will definately visit again.
Eating at Toshi brings back memories of the owners original food court stall in Shoppers World. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was impeccable. Cant wait to return.
I remember going here when I was younger. I tried it again recently and left disappointed. It is not as fresh as it should be. Expensive for the quality I got; One of the rolls was sloppily rolled, the fish and shrimp portions were very small, the tempura bits on one tasted stale, and they put lettuce in another one... I will try their don bowls, to see if that changed too, but I will never get sushi from here again. I think people who think the sushi here is good havent been exposed to authentic and good quality sushi.
Fantastic food, good service, definitely worth a visit!
Fantastic and authentic Japanese food!
Very authentic Japanese restaurant, tasty sushi and affordable prices.
Over a decade and still excellent all around; best Japanese restaurant in Brampton. Great atmosphere, cozy, delicious food, and good service. The tonkatsu, japanese curry, ramen, takoyaki, sushi and sashimi are all good.
Fresh ingredients, whole foods, made with intention. You will not be disappointed with this gem of a restaurant. Brampton is filled with corporate chain restaurants that serve up processed foods that lack nourishment, whereas Toshi Japanese Restaurant stands out as a mainstay of Brampton because they offer a fresh, nourishing, and delicious menu. You will not be disappointed!
I have been coming here over 16 years. My favorite but past couple months. The service has gone down. I come weekly but the portions get smaller and smaller each visit. Barely any meat or sauce. I ask for extra sauce but less sauce then when u ask for it regularly. You are goo g to loose alot of customers this way. Love the taste but very poor packaging lately.
This was my favorite teriyaki and sushi spot. Been coming for over 15 years. Use to give great portions. But lately portions get smaller and smaller. Even when u pay to add extra meat, doesnt look different from the reg order. We ask for extra sauce and barely any sauce to cover rice. You need to do better and get back to the way you use to take care of your customers. the same service you gave 15 years ago or you will loose customer loyalty.
Great ambience . Food was delicious and the service was great - I will be back
Great service, great owner, will definitely be coming back more
Very good food and service. You need to go here.
Very good food and service. You will not be disappointed. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. Food
Always a good option when looking for Japanese cuisine. Food quality is always up to par. Service is fast, efficient and very friendly!
Great food and service! Tastes authentic, will come back
Great food. Authentic Japanese food.
I enjoy their ramen.
Simple good tasting food at fair prices. Been coming here for over 15yrs. Dont ever change.
Amazing Teriyaki
Sushi is too good. Must try. I finished it within seconds. Felt like the sushi were melting in my mouth. Thank you.
Good food and better service. Just a little more expensive than other Japanese restaurants.
Most Japanese restaurants in the vicinity are either Japanese/Korean or Japanese/Chinese. Toshi is neither of these and primarily focuses on just purely Japanese food. The benefits of this is a diverse spread of several dishes that would be harder to find in Brampton (Donburi, Udon, etc). The cons of the wide diversity lead to passable but by no means amazing examples. The sushi is where the show starts and ends. The pricing is competitive with neighboring restaurants and the vibe is quite homey and warm. Overall, definitely worth a visit.
Fresh food great flavors.
very nice experience and very good service and staff. our server yumi was super polite and really helpful......
Visiting again after 4 years and the food and service is still exceptional! Always enjoy their Yaki Tofu and their Veggie Maki Platter.
Food was far from great this time around here; chewey fish skin on a peace of sushi, tempura soaked in old smelling oil. This might have been good once, but it appears staff is different and so is the quality of the food.
Pretty bland sushi, felt like leftover scraps. Expected a great meal given these reviews but was disappointed- especially for the price we paid.
One of the best places for Sushi and Japanese cuisine!! Amazing food
Amazing chicken tarriyaki.
Excellent food all around.
Ordered my food and was told twenty minutes wait time. Waited in my car as it was cold, only to be told that ppl outside had been there first. I waited another 20 minutes outside only to go in and my food was cold when I got it. Lady at the counter said it wax probably cold because it had been ready for 15 minutes. When I placed the order, I gave my phone number. Why??? Its not like they called to let me know to bypass the line!!
I was craving avacado rolls and this location showed up on my maps for sushi rolls. Looked up in its menu and I see avacado rolls. I ordered it on phone and picked it up in 10 minutes. Its nicely packed and tastes great. I did not like the ginger and wasabi as it did not taste good to me, but avacado rolls with soy sauce was best.
Friendly/fast service, food is fresh and customizable.
They have yummy lunch specials!
Amazing food!
Love this place, very traditional atmosphere and food. Service is great and quick. I think only place in Brampton that offers ramen and nebuyaki. Close in afternoons for a couple hours. Only take-out since pandemic, but food is still as amazing as ever. Katsudon is the best Ive ever had.
The worst place I visited for Japanese Ramen. It is not Ramen. It is Chinese noodle. They forget the recipe or they dont know. I visited Many Japanese restaurants in Japan but this kind of tastes not belong to Japan.
My last order was extra beef and extra sauce paid extra for it never received it as per the time before and today I placed a pick up order make my way from castle more to bovaird and ten only to find my order was never placed and it was never made I am a long loyal customer of this place even when it was I shoppers would but I m sorry to say I ve had enough bs and will never be returning there again THE PLACE HAS BECOME A JOKE
This place is disgusting! As soon as you walk in the horrid smell is over whelming, then you look around to a VERY dirty place. This place is handling raw fish which requires a clean work surface. Against my better judgement I still ordered the spicy tuna rolls- I opened up the container and instantly could tell the tuna was old and discolored. I threw out the food along with the sticky chops sticks they gave me. Do not eat here!
Still love the food. Sad the dining room still isnt open. Call to confirm dine in prior to going.
Thank you for this lovely miso ramen!
Good portions. Only negative - recent price increase and some sushi s where not fresh!
Lovely little place. Staff is friendly and food is delicious
Always grab an order of takoyaki from here when Im craving it. They make it just right.
In door dining closed. Take out only
My first time trying Toshi. Their Spider Roll was the best Ive ever had, and I lived in Maryland for 25 years where soft shell crab is a specialty! The Philadelphia Roll was also amazing, so fresh and delicious. Will def be back to Toshi!
The scrumptious fresh taste, quality and quantity and fair price remains exceptional. When on a hot day, the owner makes his way to the take-out counter and offers cold bottle of water at no extra cost, this was a speechless moment of appreciation. THANK YOU for ensuring your customers feel valued & your gesture of kindness made the day!
First time trying Toshi out. We enjoyed the fresh food and tender beef teriyaki and spicy crab rolls and shrimp tempura which was about average for tempura but good the food was fresh and will definitely take out again. Did not leave me needing to drink water all nite guess it was the low sodium.
Amazing Sushi Place. We were craving some sushi and decided to try this place for the first time. The place itself is small and only for takeout but it s a hidden gem. The deceiving tiny building makes some of the best sushi in the game. The value is insane and we will never get grocery store sushi again. The sushi itself is fantastic and truly tastes homemade and fresh. The rice was really tasty and the amount was perfect, not too much and not too little. Sushi was fantastic. The servers were also super nice and quick. We waiting maximum 7mins for whole tray which is insanely quick. Overall really solid place. Highly recommend if you want some quick, good value sushi.
I go to Toshis at least once a week for lunch, and their food and service is always consistently great :)
Great sushi. Good service. Not expensive.
I was initially thrilled when I saw the reviews and read that Brampton had a good ramen place. However when I bought ramen from here (take out, because their dine in was closed), I was heavily disappointed. We ordered two Shoyu ramens, and asked for one without corn. To my dismay, both ramen came without corn. One of them also came without any meat (pork). You can imagine my disappointment when seeing this after driving all the way home. I politely called the place to let them know that there was no meat in one of them (also mentioned the corn) and asked them what could be done, the cashier was polite and apologized. She said that we could come back to get the meat, but we told her we wouldn t make it back in time (it was near closing, and we also wouldn t want to drive back). She said she could offer us credit for the one ramen without meat, I asked if they did refunds, and she said yes if we paid with credit (we did). We didn t get time to go back the next day, so we went the day after. When I got there I just re-explained the situation. They remembered, but then only gave us a refund of $3. I was shocked, I told him that we were told we would get a refund for one ramen, he said that because we ate the ramen,(which we didn t even end up eating cause the whole meal regardless of this ordeal was not even good, I have made better ramen at home!) Anyway, I took the $3 and politely told him that next time he should clarify that it would only be a partial and small refund, (the ramen was $15!) because we wouldn t have driven all the way back just for $3! The owner said that the cashier messed up, even though we heard her asking him everything and she only relayed his response. He was being really disrespectful especially when all I said after this whole situation was that next time they should be more clear (and I said it politely as well!) This was an unpleasant experience, and I will not be returning to this restaurant ever again. I would give zero stars if I could.
Worst sushi ever! Ordered 40 pc a few weeks ago paid $60, think this is ala carte, it must be better quality than AYCE.oh, am I so wrong!! The roll is so small and taste so blant, how did this place got rating of 4.4? I wish I can put 0 rating! Who put lettuce in the green dragon roll? Quality is worse than supermarket sushi
Food was ok . But atmosphere was not good at all. Even they dont have more payment options.
Food was fantastic but sadly they do not have dine in
Yoshis was always a staple growing up, and I am very grateful that they are still around. Very warm and inviting, on top of food that cant be beat anywhere in Brampton.
Ordered ramen and while the noodles were okay, the miso broth of the ramen is tasteless and toppings were miniscule. When I ordered ramen I expected a well seasoned broth but mr.noodles has more spices. No wonder they dont have ramen on the menu itself, $14.50 for dry pork and hot watered down soy sauce is hilariously bad. While I cant speak for the rest of their food if their ramen is any indication, thats a hard pass.
Good place and nice service
Loved it!
We order takeout teryaki veggies and some sushi. It was delicious like always.
Yummy food. Great staff.
Friendly customer service and the food delicious!
Super easy to give this restaurant 5 stars...my kids and I have loved Toshi Japanese Restaurant for years. The food is delicious AND the excellent quality of same is consistent (!), and everyone who works there has always been so very kind to all of us. Well always be back, and highly recommend it to everyone. This is one of my favourite places to take friends when they visit, or if theyve never been. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Toshis!
Great teriyaki food, have yet to try the sushi
I ve ordered take-out from Toshi for years and have always loved it, but I haven t got it since the start of the pandemic until last night. I was really disappointed because the quality of the food has gone down. They must have a different cook because the meat was in big pieces and there were fewer vegetables. Unfortunately the flavour wasn t as good either. To top it off the prices have increased significantly. I won t be going there any more!
Ive been eating here for over 10 years and always enjoyed my meals and the price is great in regards to the portion size. The food is always fresh. However my last visit my Yam tempura was cold...could it have been made long before my order came in?! For the record I walked in and ordered my meal and waited in my car! My Favorites Salmon Teriyaki, Chicken Donburi, Yam Tempura my girls love Chicken and Shrimp Teriyaki.
BEST SUSHI IN TOWN!!!!!
Best teriyaki ever
Had the Miso Ramen with chicken and it was good. The chicken in the Ramen was missing something in terms of flavour. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The sushi (rolls and maki) were not fresh and did not tasted stale. Cost of food was expensive and not worth the price.
Great pricing, nice portions, excellent taste, nice and fresh, friendly staff, I would definitely recommend them for anyone who likes Japanese cuisine and either lives in or is passing through Brampton. To quote Bubbles a wee bit, their Takoyaki and Yakiniku are scrum dilly
Great quality!
Take out goods were warm and full of flavour. Its nice having a ramen spot in Peel. The options are not extensive, or on the menu - guests must enquire. Friendly and prompt service. Definitely coming back when am back in Peel for the ramen.
I can only comment on the chicken terriakki as I have not tried the sushi. The dish is portioned nicely to price but unfortunately the sauce they use is like a gravy heavy and bland. I am accustomed to a more traditional style terriakki sauce so I wasnt excited about this one. Overall the taste was decent and the ingredients fresh so a 4 star is awarded here. I will be trying the sushi soon so I will post how that goes. Bon Appétit.
Best sushi hands down in the GTA. Hidden gem and keep the secret.
Had the beef and chicken teriyaki. I enjoyed the flavors of the sauce in the beef. Did not like the chicken. I think they had it out a bit too long before it was cooked. Ended up throwing away most of it. I would go back again in the distant future but would not get the chicken again.
Great sushi, great value and service with a smile. Newbies beware, call ahead and avoid the 20 minute wait
the chefs are incredible at making these Japanese food they deserve all the attention and respect because they make food that would make your mouth go like water fall 5 star restaurant
Was looking for a local restaurant to pick up some good Ramin without havong to travel to far. I found toshi, and they did not disappoint. The food was amazing, highly recommend.
Food was great. Wide variety, and fresh. I only eat vegetarian sushi and I really enjoyed the yam roll. My son loved the ramen and everyone enjoyed the sushi rolls.
Good food.
I ve been going to Toshi for over 25 years when they used to be in shoppers world. The food has never let me down. Amazing quality, flavour, and prices. Sushi is always fresh and perfectly made! Their Yakiniku is the best ever- so much flavour with tender juicy beef. All their menu items from teriyaki to appetizers are THE BEST ever!
Friendly staff, good takeout food.
Taste aside.. food presentation and the customer service by the front desk officer on Saturday Eve with busy customer traffic was truly outstanding.. as I am new to Sushi cuisine she helped in matching my preference and her portfolio of products. Dont know her name but if you read this comment do compliment her with your order..
Always fresh and delicious
Best authentic japanese restaurant in Brampton. The a la carte style sushi is far better quality than any AYCE sushi place i ve been to in Brampton. The ramen is also fantastic.
Best
Best teriyaki in town!
Was a good place years ago. Now...not even worth one star. Order chicken katsu and sushi. Too lazy to flatten out the cutlet, food tasted old and stale. Sushi was thick like sashimi and smelt off. Take out in Brampton is finished, no one has to try. Not worth the 40 bucks plus tip
Nicely prepared food to go.
Called to do a takeout order and the women who answered the phone was incredibly rude. The moment I said I wanted to order take out, her tone of voice changed. When I asked to place an order for Bento, she said NO and then wouldn t speak. When I tried to clarify, she was not willing to explain and kept shouting No into the phone. She went silent so I ended up hanging up the phone because she would not respond.
amazing spider roll, the fish is very fresh
Been going here for last 12 years. Fresh food, reasonable prices and so consistent.
