RD's BBQ in Brampton

Tried them from seeing an influencer instagram post. Overall good establishment with flavourful food. I had the beef brisket, cornbread and a side of Mac and cheese. I was not expecting the small portion of beef especially for the price and because there was about 15-20% fat that I did not eat. I almost gave it a 3 star rating. Outside of that it s worth a try and in the future I ll definitely go back and try other items.

I ordered on Uber eats. I honestly didnt know what to expect. But I am extremely pleased. The food was amazing. So fresh, well seasoned. Presentation, packaging everything. I had the catfish poboy wow Mac n cheese was so cheesy n creamy. Cornbread was delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Amazing lunch at RD s. We had a beef brisket sandwich with fries and cole slaw and a buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. They were both delicious. I highly recommend RD s Barbecue.

Ive driven out of my way (30 minutes) to this place THREE TIMES and each time confirmed they were open but when I arrived theres a hand written note on the door saying theyre closed. Why isnt this posted on the website or Google? Beyond frustrating. Im waiting in the lot writing this review and theres literally other vehicles driving by as disappointed as me. Cant say if the food is good... Ive never even got to try it. Uhg. A business that probably makes great food but doesnt know how to run a business...

My dad and I were pretty hungry and didn t know what to get, so I went on Reddit (ik ) saw I few people this place so we decided why not when I tell you they weren t wrong the food blew our minds we had to eat in silence, i usually share my food but i couldn t this time (sorry dad ) only downside it s takeout

This place was absolutely amazing! We got a small buffalo chicken Mac and cheese plus the beef and pork platter which included beans, coleslaw and cornbread! I cannot wait to come back

Today I drove an hour and a half just to try their food and boy was I not disappointed at all. I ordered the lobster mac & cheese and a beef brisket sandwich for myself my friend had a pulled pork sandwich and a order of beef brisket to go. The lobster was delicious. It tasted unlike anything I ve ever had. The meat on. The sandwiches was very tasty and tender. The only thing that could ve made it better was being able to dine in, but we ate outside on the back of the tailgate and it was still amazing.

The food at this great, really enjoyed the southern feel to the food. I got a number of dishes to try. The Gumbo is good came with a side of rice. The poboy shrimp sandwich was good and tasted fresh, the cornbread was a great size and tasted really good. I would suggest ordering ahead as the service is a bit slow however the staff are kind and seem to be doing what they can. No seating here only take-out. I would definitely order from here again.

I tried RDs BBQ for the first time. I was quite disappointed. I ordered a variety of menu items which included a full rack of ribs, chicken wings, fries, Mac and cheese with beef brisket on top, and beans and coleslaw. The ribs were flavourful and tender. But the chicken wings were disappointing and mediocre. Also the Mac and cheese wasn t very cheesy and more saucey, in terms of flavour it was okay. The coleslaw and beans average. Overall, Not really worth the hype.

Service was a bit slow considering it wasnt busy but the process may just take time as the brisket beef is cut only at the time of order, then grilled with bbq sauce. It was super fresh and delicious.

Ordered some brisket today for take out, was really good. The staff were very nice and helpful and will definitely be coming again.

The food is decent. Not bad but not great. A bit pricey for the portions they give you. It was WAY better at the Kennedy and vodden plaza (first location). You could smell the meat smoking in the basement. The mac and cheese was not fresh and dry. The service is fine. Cant complain. Would I go back? Nah

Came across this joint scrolling IG. I was very impressed. This is how you do ribs: the smoke taste is on point. It shows it was done in a smoker. I am not big on sauce food and this was perfect eating without the sauce. John talking to you and eating the food shows you are a master grille! One thing... Placed my order through the phone and it was ready for pick up exactly the time they told me it would take. I ordered the loaded Mac with Cajun grilled chicken and it was absolutely amazing ! The Mac was so fresh and creamy and the grilled chicken was perfectly seasoned. The customer service was also amazing ! Definitely recommend this place :)

Rude delivery drivers ringing bells like maniacs to be served. They dont even care about a lineup. I had to wait a long time for my food, but I shouldve ordered ahead. The guy at the front was nice. Overall very tasty food. Due to the time to wait, cant they put some chairs for people to sit? 30 mins standing was tough.

Ive ordered from RDs a few times. The food is decent, corn bread and coleslaw are very good, meats are tasty and wings are cooked the way I like. I ordered wings last night; one order was 2 pounds, the other, 1 pound, however when i arrived home and opened the box, to my dismay, there were literally a small handful of wings looking back at me. I decided to pull out my kitchen scale to discover my 2 pound order of wings came in at barely HALF POUND. Maybe Im missing something and ordering by weight is just a marketing term? perhaps I shouldnt be expecting the weight to actually come close to what is advertised.... that said, in my opinion this is highway robbery. I paid over $30 for 11 tiny wings. Although the food is tasty, I will not be buying here again.

It didn t take long for the food to come, but when it did the food was nothing short of perfect. Ordered takeout from RDs yesterday for Mardi Gras, so we went off the regular fantastic BBQ to the NAwlins inspired fare - gumbo, jambalaya, cornbread, with beans & coleslaw. Ive been down to New Orleans several times, had gumbo & jambalaya many times - and RDs was pretty much the best Ive ever had, even down in the Crescent City. Whole crab in the gumbo!!! Good-sized portions, flavouring just right, most excellent. The jambalaya was top-notch as well - spiced perfectly - none of this ketchup/syrupy stuff you frequently get, but nuanced pepper and creole spices. Highly recommend both the BBQ AND the gumbo & jambalaya. Oh ya, also ordered the creole shrimp - awesome. Next time well try the etouffee!

Amazing food, we ordered 3 racks of ribs w side of mac n cheese the portions were so massive that we could barely finish. The lady who took our order was very friendly and professional. The only reason its a star less is theres is no dine in.

We drove all the way there when hours of operation was listed as open on their website and drove more than 45 minutes to get there and they were closed. We were so disappointed at their lack of professionalism and unreliability. We will not be patronizing them again.

The size of the packaging left something to be desired to say the least. 1lb is exactly 1lb of pork Beef dish with sides is 0.5lb both including fat. Side of Cole slaw is 2 sauce containers? 1 piece corn bread not sure how many fries youd get if you chose that but with the general size theme Id say the same much to be desired. Large Mac and cheese$23 again 2ppl max,( considering what pasta cost and cheese and milk more could be given)this was not fit to feed a family of 4 but pricing was such that it should of. I understand everyone needs to eat but Ill spend the same on Chinese or Portuguese etc. and have left overs with full bellies. It was an experience and we did that courtesy of our Mayor FB feed. Maybe daily specials and food for 1 or 2 ppl would of resulted in higher rating. Quality &bQuantity go hand in hand sorry.

I purchased two full racks of ribs and a half rack for myself and my parents. Great food, filled my order very fast, big portions - we have a lot of food leftover. Only wrinkle was somehow one of the half-racks of ribs I ordered became a half-chicken. There was no hassle resolving it. Highly recommended for ribs, chicken & friendly service. Parking: The restaurant is in a mixed use strip mall. I went right around 5 and saw one other car. Parked right in front of the restaurant.

The food was not disappointing at all. So delicious, full of flavours, and the portion sizes were huge. First time ever getting a full rack of ribs that WERE the full rack. I was able to eat 1/2 of 1/2, lol. But it was so good. The fries I absolutely love, crispy and tasty. The slaw was amazing and the beans had a nice kick to it as well as a Smoky flavour. The beef brisket was tender and juicy and the wings were juicy and full of flavour. Sweet but not sugary, cooked to perfection, simply exquisite. Cant wait for our next order. I just wish they had a dining room, we were looking to enjoy a date night out.

Its the first time trying RDS. I ordered the brisket platter, with jerk BBQ sauce and fries. The brisket portion is ok for a take out portion. The fries were hot and crunchy(Love it). The coleslaw tasted like it was on its last day.(not so great batch). The beans were ok ( Not really a hudge bean fan but enjoyed it for what it is). Maybe in person dining may have been better (Not sure, but willing to try). I will add photos as well. (After my in person visit I will update this review.

You really get what you pay for. The ribs are meaty, juicy, and full of flavour. No gristle, all meat and huge. The sauce is also really good. The coleslaw has good flavour, as well as the fries. Been wanting to try this place for a while. They had a deal two for one on the fried chicken sandwich and jerk chicken with rice. First, I don t know why it is $25 for a single sandwich, wasn t the best i like popeyes better. The jerk was okay, also not the best I ve had and small plate. Wouldn t try it again maybe should have chose the pulled pork or ribs instead, oh well.

I used to love this place when it was at a different location in Brampton off of Kennedy. I was looking for it recently and found it in some back alley lol that s fine. The location is strange but I guess it works however the food and the price was not the same. I got the fried chicken and macaroni. It was OK but I feel it could ve been better and how much I got for the price I will never get that again. I don t know if I would even go back because everything is over priced I m sure that s due to inflation and post Covid or whatever but I just didn t feel like the portions were enough I feel like I got a kids meal for the price of an adult. I think I paid 20 something dollars for a very small meal and cornbread on the side which was not the greatest either I have had better. If I find myself in that side of town again, I might try a Poboy sandwich maybe some pulled pork or beef brisket I might give this place one more chance if I feel like spending extra money for small amounts of food but at this point, I can t see myself going out of my way like I did for that. If you want southern style Barbecue, I suggest going somewhere else.

Patra and Keon are the best in customer service. We all know that their ribs are the best in Brampton. However, RDs fries are absolutely fabulous as well.

A small family run take out restaurant locate in a plaza across a residential area that you will not notice it when you passed by, until you take that first bite of the food that you ordered, you will notice the Wow factor of the taste and flavors. It is a pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is clean and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Price is fair. Strongly recommended.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that needs to be shared. We have traveled extensively throughout the Southern United States, and its amazing that we can now just go down the street to satisfy the craving for Southern BBQ, Okra, Collard Greens, or Gumbo. This is a You have to eat here restaurant! The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no room in the establishment to eat, but your car smells great all the way home.

Spicy chicken burger was fantastic but the sides we got, beans, mac and cheese, coleslaw and the cornbread were just okay.

Ive been coming to RDs since it was on Kennedy Rd, this place is a Brampton staple, hands down. I went in and got a brisket sandwich, fries, beans and ordered some cornbread as well. I was dipping the bread into the beans and munching this food while sitting in the car in my undershirt, having taken my t-shirt off due to knowing this was going to get serious. You will not be disappointed eating here. ***UPDATE*** 6/30/23 I just ordered RDs again; the food here is so far superior to other BBQ places that honestly it is a complete waste of money to buy BBQ from anywhere but here. False Advertisement on UberEats On Ubereats, this place has a BOGO Free deal Buy one Get one Free but theyre charging 25$ for the Fried Chicken Sandwich. when you look at their menu online, here on google. Majority of the sandwiches are between 13-15$ I think this is completely inappropriate and a complete lie.

We used RDs to cater a family bbq and we were beyond pleased. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We ordered for 8-10 but had food for much more. Ribs and pulled pork were a crowd fave but the brisket was melt in your mouth perfect. Definetly will order again. So good

OMG, the brisket is heavenly! The french fries are perfection. The cornbread is delicious. If you want to take away a slice of the most amazing food you have ever had, no, Dont, now everyone else will love it and then my secret place for barbeque is not so secret anymore. Seriously, you must try this place for delicious food. Going back for the beignets, je taime!

Been wanting to try this place for years, and finally went. WOW!!!!! The beef brisket was out of this world and the spicy breaded chicken sandwich was massively delicious!!!! Portion sizes are sufficient, prices arent low but they arent outrageously high either, and for the level of food quality Id say its a fair price point. Cornbread was great - good consistency that doesnt fall apart, and the fries were delicious as well! Coleslaw was absolutely delicious but the portion could have been much larger - 2 or 3 forkfuls and I was done, but I guess thats okay for people who arent big on coleslaw. My only real criticism and why I dropped a star from atmosphere is that it lacks a dining area. Even a small one for 5-10 customers would be nice. I had to eat in my car, which is okay but I would have preferred to be able to dine in comfortably. All in all though, massive flavor and you can taste the quality in every bite. Most definitely Ill be back again!

Ive only ever ordered through OO, until tonight. There only a few minutes away. There a little hidden gem. I ordered ahead and picked it up, I was greeted by a lovely lady who was very welcoming. Definitely recommend this place. The only downside was a lb of wings consisted of 6 which were absolutely delicious (sorry i hate to write anything negative). Ive ordered wingsfrom different restaurants and received at least 10-12. Definitely recommend this place Vegetarian options: Hush puppies which are delicious, shrimp, lobster and Im sure there are more.

Not a lot of options for BBQ near me so i was excited to try RDs, the food is good but the prices are way too high. It was nearly $70 for two people to eat. as i mentioned food is good but unfortunately i probably wont be back.

RDs is a hidden gem of a restaurant, tucked away on Rosedale Ave West in Brampton. The beef brisket is highly recommended, and a variety of other sumptuous Cajun BBQ dishes are all delicious. Wow, I wish I lived in Brampton! This place had some terrific eats. Etouffee was really great. Pulled pork was also great. They have beef ribs which is a rare find. Id like to go back and try those. Its about a 40 min drive out there for me but it might be worth it!

Damn delicious! Honestly did not expect to find this fantastic southern/creole food in Brampton. We got beef ribs and half chicken - both were way better than the stuff Ive had at various Toronto Ribfests, Cherry St BBQ, Northern Smokes or Adamsons. I dont know what they put in their side of beans but it was downright addictive. Shrimp Po-Boy was nice, but the portion a bit on the smaller side. Brisket poutine on the other hand was massive and really good. Weve also tried the Gumbo - its tasty but I dont really have a standard to compare it to given the limited creole joints in the GTA. Halal options available. Just so happy to have this gem close by!

I had a conversation with the nice lady who served me my pickup order and it being one of my first times there she gave me a complimentary drink - RDs Sweet Tea, that is a family recipe, which was so good and I really appreciate. It started out great. All appetizers were delicious such as the beans, coleslaw and cornbread, A+ for those items. We ordered po boy, pulled pork/brisket sandwich, etouffee and full rack of ribs, entire order was 125 dollars all together. Let s start with the ribs: the sauce is good, and it s a good amount of ribs but that s it. The meat was tough and dry and hard to swallow, I was surprised because all the reviews were raving for ribs, maybe overcooked. The etouffee: sauce and gravy-base tasted great, and then you taste the seafood inside. The lobster and crab legs were definitely spoiled or old, the meat was literally grey and it tasted rancid, could ve been maybe it was just sitting there too long and the seafood became old but we will see if it s spoiled if we get sick by tomorrow. The po boy and sandwich were pretty good but nothing super special, still good though. All in all, we were so excited to try here and wanted to love this place but it was disappointing with the exception of some of the items, however I would like to try here again in the future.

Meat lacked smoke flavor, bark and tenderness that you would expect from smoking meat (I have doubts they are even smoking the meat) Ordered ribs, brisket and wings, all were tough. Ribs and wings were tough and dry. Brisket was bit tough as you would expect to be able to easily pull it a part. Mac + Cheese was good.

Ordered here soon after it opens in the afternoon. Had very high expectations going in, Ive heard a lot about RDs BBQ. Staff was very kind, its a small spot, pleasant atmosphere. Order of brisket and half rack ribs took 15 mins to prepare. Not bad. Brisket: Was excellent! Decent tenderness and great taste. I just felt like going back for more pieces. It seemed like a small quantity for a price tag of $21, but eating just two of the ~8 slabs of brisket was quite satisfying. Half rack of pork ribs: Couldve been more tender. With all due respect Ive had more tender ribs at Swiss Chalet. The taste was great, the flavors were all there and it was still easy to eat and enjoy. The sides were solid. Fries and coleslaw were as expected. Im new to baked beans and theyre not really my style of beans... too sweet. Sweetness is not a taste I expect in beans, makes it taste cheap in my opinion. I prefer the red bean dishes also made in the south. All in all, it was a good experience. The brisket is worth coming back for, I will definitely keep an eye on RDs BBQ. This was my first time trying out this place, and I am truly impressed. I ordered the beef Mac and cheese and the catfish po boy. The beef on the Mac and cheese was so tender and the bbq sauce was amazing. The Mac and cheese was good as well. I really enjoyed the catfish. It was seasoned well and pretty crispy even though I didn t eat it right away. Overall a great experience, and I d eat here again.

THIS RESTAURANT WAS ACTUALLY VERY DELICIOUS. THE FOOD WAS VERY FLAVOURFUL ESPECIALLY THE HEALTHY SLICE OF CORNBREAD (WHICH WAS NOT OVER SWEETENED). ALSO I LOVED THE PULLED PORK SANDWHICH. IT NORMALLY COMES JUST WITH THE MEAT AND BUN BUT THE SERVER WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SUGGEST TOMATO AND LETTUCE. THE MALE SERVER WAS VERY KIND AND SHOWED TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE PRACTICES. THE RESTAURANT WAS ALSO CLEAN BUT MORE OF A TAKE OUT PLACE NO SEATS AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURES ON THERE GOOGLE PAGE. DEFINETLY WILL BE RETURNING.

We ordered food for our company and it was awesome! The brisket is absolutely amazing, the ribs were smoky and delicious, the pulled pork was fantastic, and the wings were flavorful and juicy. And the sides! The mac and cheese was super cheesy and the beans were amazing. This is my new go-to for BBQ in Brampton

Had the mouth watering spicy fried chicken in buffalo sauce with baked beans and coleslaw. The chicken was moist, not too crunchy and you could taste the seasoning. The beans were well balanced in spices and brought the heat making you want more. The coleslaw was tasty and balanced the heat from the beans. If you re looking for something on the menu, this is a great option.

I ve been going to this place for years. The food is great and the owners are friendly and welcoming. If your looking for BBQ this is the pace to check out. I would definitely recommend the Big Daddy Sandwich. You won t be disappointed.

Ordered two shirmp Po boys and the brisket poutine. Had all the sides aswell. I wish the Po boy was bigger, but other than they taste great. You have to try the beans, best I have had, great spices and I just want more =(. Brisket melts perfectly. Poutine gravy hits the spot each bite and the fresh cut fries damn. This place gets better, not only was the food great but the staff running the show are awesome. Great smiles, friendly and helpful. Ill be back for the rest of the menu. You gotta stop in.

Ive been eating here forever. It is the best BBQ I ever have had . And I have been to many as my job has me everywhere . Its the first and only place I eat when in Brampton and know will be making the hours drive just for there food ..

Tried RDs for the first time and ordered the deluxe po boy sandwich with catfish and shrimp and a 1/2 rack of pork ribs with all the sides. Everything was prepared fresh in 15 mins and came out piping hot. The po boy sandwich was tender, light, flavourful and stuffed with fish and the ribs were perfect, not overly sweet like many BBQ restos and very tender. Overall a great first impression and we will definitely be back soon to try everything else on the menu!

So I havent eaten here .. but really wanted to for a surprise party... but I planned the party around making a reservation here cause it says dine in.... They only do take out and no longer dine in. Just a little annoyed and sad. Im sure their food is good though ..

A real Family staple! My father introduced me to their award winning Beef Brisket last Christmas, and I just had it for my birthday celebrations amongst a whole bunch more great things. Went in to place our catering order to be picked up Sunday (closed unless catering) and every person that walked in, just was in a smokey-filled aroma of slow burning meats and sizzles. You can be lifted to a higher place if you wait too long. Super humble and hardworking family run place (respect Mr. and Mrs. Romer) where you feel the energy, charisma, and of course banging flavors in everything you get. Dont feel shy to call and ask about specialty items. RDs will do everything in their power to accommodate your request to their standard, which NOT many places with this calibre can do, less consistently. 13/10 Dont wait, just help yourself out. Let the professionals cook your meats lol, and enjoy

My husband ordered a full rack of pork ribs and it seemed well cooked from the outside but it wasn t fully cooked. Our stomach ended up hurting after. I had to bake them in the oven for them to not go to waste. Very disappointing! The cornbread was good, moist on the inside. The coleslaw and beans were ok. It was our second try, the first time everything was better but I wouldn t order again due to the inconsistency of the food quality. For that price, you have to make sure that your food is always cooked properly.

I can t believe that it was only until recently that I heard about this hidden gem. The mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and burgers are cooked to perfection. Not to mention the customer service was also great.

Very expensive considering portion size. Had the fried chicken sandwich, it tasted terrible, had the pulled pork sandwich - the pork was great, but everything else (bun, toppings, sides, etc) lacked. Definitely not worth the price

Words cannot describe the taste of this southern BBQ. The best in Brampton I would say. The owner is the sweetest person you ll ever meet, the prices are fair got what you are getting ( you get a lot), the food is made with love, and they have a massive menu with great sizes. Although it s located in a hidden like area, the place definitely makes up in taste for what it lacks in location. Definitely a place you should visit, if you re craving anything from a pulled pork sandwich - or a loaded mac and cheese.

Everyone I introduce to this place goes back and tells someone else. Best kept secret. Jambalaya good. They make it spicy if you want. Surprised the wings were mild though. Catfish done nicely. And chicken sandwhich is great.

I m always yearning for crawfish, Étouffée, and other specialties from New Orleans so visited this place for the first time and it and definitely hit the spot. The Étouffée was super tasty with the gravy built on shrimps, crab and lobster. Just enough spice and not salty, great job! Although the texture of the crab and lobster meat was mushy, I felt that the beautifully built broth more than compensated for it. The poboy was also really tasty, just as flavorful as any I ve had in NOLA but the bread just wasn t up to par (needs a flaky crust yet pillowy soft interior). Haven t tasted the bbq but definitely returning for these NOLA dishes and to test some others (gumbo/jambalaya) very soon!

Ordered from here 1 year after my last review was written. The food somehow got even better from what I remembered. The shrimp mac and cheese was simply divine and the shrimp was seasoned to smoky perfection...the spicy chicken sandwich was actually really spicy and the hot ribs too. Smoky and not overly sweet, unlike other places. The cornbread (slightly sweet, but Im partial to) was the best Id ever seen and it was still moist the next day. 10/10 recommend its so rare to find a legit southern place in these parts. I just picked up a beef brisket and pulled pork sandwich...omg!!! Absolutely amazing

Spur of the moment decision from the kiddo to try this place. Online ordering super easy. I was pleased that the menu choice was not overwhelming. Sometimes places offer too much to choose from and RDs had a good variety. Tricky part was finding it as its not a huge unit. The food was tasty, good portions and the corn bread ( as an option) was warm and large slice. Good value for money and the kiddo liked his first time trying cat fish. The dipping sauce was a hit. Covid guidelines followed and we will be back.

I ordered half a rack of beef ribs with sweet potato fries. Pros Coleslaw is very good Bbq is excellent Corn bread is also good Cons Beef ribs were over cooked unfortunately and were very tough. Sweet potato fries were soggy and not crispy at all. I would give them another chance hopefully better time would be better

Ordered from here for the first time - family dinner for 2-4, plus the 5 wing dinner for my son who doesnt eat ribs. Chose the RD House BBQ sauce, which was the right mix of sweet and spicy sauce. The family dinner was huge, with enough meat for 4 people. Cornbread and coleslaw were delish - Im not a huge fan of baked beans, and my husband found they tasted too strongly of oregano. Fries were okay. Minus one star for the ribs being slightly on the tough side and not saucy enough. Would have loved to have some extra sauce on the side, but everything tasted good! Friendly service.

Best smelling food place Id ever been into! Staff was very polite. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with all 4 optional sides (to try, though 2 come with..) + a poutine. Everything was excellent!! If I had to find something wrong (hard to do)..Id say portions should be a tiny bit larger or price a tiny bit cheaper. Will be back for sure though. *Tip for customers* not the business.. This place is amazing. We stopped in by mistake and then ate in the car, and went back to order more. Such great service and even better food. There Mac and cheese with shrimp pleased a 9 year old, while the beef brisket sandwich and the Mac and cheese with coleslaw amazed two adult foodies. Plus they had great conversation while waiting. Best creole food in Toronto and Brampton Hand down!
