I was there last night and they started sweeping and vacuuming at 7:45ish while we were still eating. We were confused if they were closing at 8 or 9PM but when I asked the owner when they close as I was going out she said they close at 9. So I have zero idea why they started cleaning as we were still having dinner. Furthermore, the server who served the dishes were rude. She won't even say a word while serving and ignored when we said thank you. I don't know what we did to get this kind of service.
Not sure if they were having an off day or what was going on in the kitchen but the food well bellow average. The sweet and sour pork was the only passable dish (and that’s being generous), everything else was either bland or over cooked, the vegetables were pretty much mush with no flavour. The service was good’ish I guess, the front desk lady was kinda rude but she probably overheard us complaining about the food, but that’s not on us.
Food tastes good overall tho slightly salty
I'm giving an overall 5 star but only 4 for the food because, personal tastes? We've had westernized Asian food in multiple countries ranging from fantastic to awful. This was 'solidly inoffensive', I guess? We opted for the buffet because we do like to try different things and they had quite a few different dishes available. Everything we tried was fine. All seemed well made, fresh ingredients, all the things you hope for - but - most of the dishes had super mild flavors. Aside from the hot and sour soup, it was all very ordinary tasting. The noodles, vegetables, and meats were good quality and cooked properly, but all the sauces were sweet and mild. Which can be okay, but we were hoping for more variety of flavors. The service was great, the meal was fine and really pretty good value it just didn't stand out.
Tried a few options! Everything was very tasty and fresh. Service was okay. I love that they have a little sauce station so you can help yourself to what you need!
Stopped in at Kim's while on our way to Winnipeg on the recommendation of a friend. The staff were friendly, the interior of the restaurant and washrooms were extravagant and modern. We ordered from the menu instead of the buffet due to time constraints, and while our plates were beautifully presented, my order of Shaking Beef lacked depth of flavour.
Visiting from Winnipeg, I really admired the design of the place. The usage of wall art, a couple cherry blossom trees, and a few other ornaments & art here and there is really well done, conveying the restaurant's East-Asian heritage while keeping an otherwise modern aesthetic. Even outside, you have two Chinese guardian lion statues on each end of the parking lot. I personally didn't find any of the atmosphere tacky or overdone, and wish more culturally-oriented modern restaurants followed this style. The food (Cantonese chow mein with tofu) was also delicious, and the service was pleasant and quick (non-rush hour). I don't remember the waitress' name, otherwise I would've shouted her out too.
From the exterior it looks like a predominately Chinese restaurant, upon studying the menu it’s actually Vietnamese, Chinese with some Japanese thrown in, I decided to try the buffet as there were few tofu options the food was well prepared and presented and there were different islands for different types of food, the sushi had its own island, the hot food also its own area, the dessert was off to the side and hidden in the corner was the ice cream machine, an incredible bonus! The food was okay and the chicken wings were very crunchy and tasty, many items were mislabeled so it wasn’t always immediately obvious what I was dispensing to myself, the food seemed targeted for the rather pedestrian western palate ie chicken balls, deep fried shrimp, lemon chicken, fried rice, chow-mien etc but it was tasty enough , the sushi was all maki rolls but there were several different types to chose from. The decor was quite nice very Chinese and quite a bit of space for big groups

While the establishment is very nice, the food was exspensive and the quality was very low. Ordered the pho beef soup, and received a flavorless soup broth with no real beef included. Owner was not very understanding and lacked basic customer service skills when we tried to communicate our concerns with the dish. I do not recommend to go here

Very limited food choices, and not at all flavourful. No won ton soup, which I consider a very basic choice in an Asian buffet. Not impressed at all. We had to ask for water refill, and that is something I feel is a must in terms of service.
If youre coming to Brandon, you need to make this your first stop! The service was really great and the food was brilliant. And the portions...the PORTIONS! they were so huge for the price and it didnt diminish the quality. Food was flavourful and exactly what youd expect from a fusion Asian restaurant. I would consider coming back up Brandon just to eat there again. 10/10 Parking: You get a ticket and then they validate it after your meal

The BEST Chinese restaurants in town! Their McTavish location is directly across from our hospital for those out of town folks! Might have to pay in parking lot! Their Victoria ave avenue location is great because of free parking! Absolutely delicious food at both locations with wonderful staff.

Take a look at the size of bowl that the Pho comes in before you order. Its huge! and good!

Edit... This was the Victoria location in the West End. I went with 2 family members and ordered the buffet this past Sat. When I walked up to the buffet I regretted my decision, however I thought I would try and make the best of it. Long story short, the best of what I could pick out was sub par at best, and at worst, I suspect had a food inspector been present that night some of the dishes would have been sufficient to close the restaurant. Particularly one dish some shrimp soupy looking thing with near rotten looking shredded lettuce in it. The shrip dish is my prime suspect for the Sulphur burps I began experiencing the following morning, closely followed by violent bodily functions and a turbulent stomach like ive only ever known once before..... when I had food poisoning 30 years ago. Today is my first day totally free of those issues and its now Thursday. There is no 0 stars so I had to give a 1 star rating for food. Ill add, the service was fine, the servers are not at fault, however I couldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone no matter if they offered to give me free food for life to smooth over this incident. That would be like how theres good news and bad news about dinner.... theres only horse manure for dinner..... but at least theres lots of it. I also cant get my head around the great reviews Im reading about this location. The food was so bad it cant possibly be an isolated incident. It was so bad that a progressive decline in quality over time is the only way a cook could put that stuff out and not recognise how nasty it really looks. The price tag of roughly 120 for three buffets and 2 Pepsi, for the privelidge of dining on food I needed many hours on the toilet over the next 4 days to recover from also makes me sick.... just in a way I dont have to wipe.

So disappointed about this place. Went there for mothers day on May 12, 2024. The restaurant was fairly empty, lots of tables available. The waitress seated us and I asked about the menu because I have food allergies, so I usually dont reach for the buffet, but my companions do. The waitress asked someone if they could do menu for me and the person said yes, so we seated. The owner sees that I have a menu on my hands and she rushes to tell me they cannot do menu and that I have to eat from the buffet. I explained I have certain allergies and I couldnt eat from the buffet. She still said no.... I only went there because it was recommended for having gluten and dairy free options. What a mistake! The owners attitude was even rude and she had no manners at all. We all had to walk out hungry because my companions didnt want to eat in front of me when I couldnt have anything to eat.

Kim s is an all time favorite place to eat. The owners make you feel like a king when you come in. It s family owned and operated. Food is top quality and amazing taste. We have been customers for years and will continue to be for many more. Thank you Kim and all staff.
I was feeling like I was getting sick in my chest and ordered the Wonton soup with Shrimp. I asked if they could add fresh ginger and they did. Not too much ginger just the right amount. I asked if there was a lot of veggies and I was not disappointed! I ate it and had a nap woke up feeling 80% better. This restaurant was referred to me by a local who has done work in the back and spoke about how clean the kitchen was. I cannot speak to the atmosphere as I ordered delivery.
Food is damn good and the lady that owns it is always nice

Regularly visit the other Kims, but thought I d try this one out. Night and day difference. (We ordered menu items not buffet.) The rolls have very little filling, and way to much rice. They make the rolls like they re made for the buffet, cheap and full of rice. The staff mainly focus on buffet and takeout, and it was hard to get a servers attention. They also charge for leftovers boxes first restaurant I ve ever seen to do that.

Went in for buffet just before 7pm and food had not been refreshed other than chicken wings. Broom left next to our table, floors need vacuum and bathroom very sticky. Not sure if it was an off night? Our first time visiting nit sure what they are normally like.

Just a little expensive for buffet
Had the buffet at the last minute. Staff and owner were very accommodating. Food was awesome. However, the deep fried selections had dried out which i could only blame myself as coming in at the last minute. Highly recommended place if you crave for some asian food. Also, Beef Pho is a must try. Parking: Has some extra parking space at the back.

Big , spacious clean Asian restaurant in town with sushi rolls Vietnamese cuisine and Chinese one like egg foo young - Food : big portions reasonable price - PHO - tasty and big but weird combination with cucumbers (optional) After all quite an interesting experience

It was really delicious. My husband and I were just driving crossing Canada and stopped here to eat. If we ever drive across again we will definitely stop by again. Edit: 20 months later, we are moving back. We had to do the drive again, so we wanted to come back and we did it! It is still amazing! We are so happy we got to eat here again!
They normally have good sushi and desert. When we went there was no sushi available at the buffet and most of the food was pretty dry and bland. Tasted old.

Well it turns out I got food poisoning from here, so if youre wanting to try it out do so at your own risk. The food here is mediocre at best. Its mostly flavourless, dry and unappealing. We didnt realize until halfway through our meal that the extra sauces were located in a small Tiki bar angled to the right of the buffet, not marked at all. The lemon chicken had no flavor, the fried rice was dry and again flavourless, the spring rolls and egg rolls had weird ingredients in them, not what you would be expecting. All in it was a very disappointing meal and one I will not be back to replicate. One other weird and horrible thing we didnt learn until the end was that we had our 2 year old with us who had a small plate of French fries from the buffet (yes, they had French fries in the small buffet) and we were charged for a full price adult buffet for him even though he hate a total of 4 fries. Do yourself a favor and go to Les buffet instead. Better food, better price, better service and better atmosphere.
The food was good and the service was fine, but it s disheartening to see so much single-use plastic/paper being used at this restaurant this far after COVID-19 has passed. The staff encourage writing on the paper menus which I m sure go straight into the bin once they re taken away from the table. The plastic packets and cups used for soy sauce should be replaced with refillable bottles and washable trays like most Asian restaurants have.

I only had the yam tempura salad rolls but they were amazing! So much food it lasted 2 days..
Ordered takeout and when we came to pick up the food at the Victoria location we were quite impressed by how lovely the building was both inside and out! Tried the sweet and sour chicken ball combo and some chow mein and both were quite good. I would love to come back here and sample other items.

We ordered the deluxe wonton soup. Huge bowl that we should of shared. Loaded with bbq pork, chicken, beef and shrimp. Brocolli, cauliflower, onions, wontons and carrots. The broth was so flavorful. Also ordered the pork steamed buns. Delicious Will be going back to Kims for a repeat.

Really great if you order off the menu, but the buffet is tailored more to American style tastes. They have the best Dim Sum (really the only) in town that I am aware of as well.

Some days its really good. Some days its really not so good but still good but stuff like the sweet and sour sauce is cold and thick like very thick and chicken balls. You can see its been sitting there for a bit but you got some busy. Everything is amazingly good. Chicken wings, chicken balls, noodles, vegetables. Everything seems really fresh. I dont have very many complaints Id say try them out. Keep going. Its really really good. Service was made in a year ago. It seems like they lost their stuff. Thats why my rating is not so high because they lost some really good stuff a year ago. Seems like all new people. I dont know what happened but its not that good now. Its not bad now but it was amazing before. Could be incredibly better

Food is always fresh. Very clean. Vegetarian options: There were plenty of dishes without meat to choose from. You wont go hungry. Parking: Theres parking in the back as well as the front. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp to get into and the tables are quite far apart.

Road tripped from toronto to calgary. We needed some real food so we found Kim s on our last stretch. Do yourself a favour and get the chiken wings, udon noodles was on point! I will always remember how good I felt after eating here.
Always good food, clean and polite. Dietary restrictions: The gluten free has always made my wife happy and shes never gotten sick.

Staff is not friendly and very confusing, one told us they only have buffet for the day yet when checking out they gave the other customers buffet/ menu options.we literally were forced to go with buffet. For buffet part, very salty with little variation of food choices.

Kims buffet is always pretty good quality. Nice that you can get a few sushi options with the buffet. It is mostly Chinese-Canadian food.
Terrible one of the dishes we ordered was chowmein and my 7 year old son was eating and was chewing and advised thier was something hard in it and it was staple. The totally unacceptable. We will never go back.

I like Kims they give you good value for the money. Ive only lived in Brandon just over a year. Ive only ordered food from 4 different restaurants Kims is the only one Ive ordered from more than once.

We came in late but everyone was happy to help us get a feed. Excellent food and all smiles even though we were those customers who turn up right before closing.
We had ocean soup, chicken chow mein and california roll. Soup was a little bit tastless but others were so good. Also portions are big which is great.
The sushi is very tasty, the noodles were also cooked beautifully, everything was cooked very quickly. The place looks very nice and fancy, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing, the waiters are nice, I would like to come back again and again.

A very so so smorgasbord, too much of it was not hot or fresh, this is at 12:30, lunch time prime. Putting it out at 11 and expecting it to be good 1½ hours later is just poor planning and banking on people accepting bad food. They charged us for 2 buffet lunches, and my wife ordered off the menu, one veggie sushi roll our bill with tea was almost $50 and we never got to see it, just go to the cash and they punch in whatever and give you the option of cash or card machine, then you see the total price. I ve always loved Kim s! Have been a big supporter for years. We only ever order sushi which is always great, fresh and tasty! Friendly and great service! The only thing that really bothers me is that they have gone to plastic sauce holders and take out soy sauce packages! I would love it if they went back to their classy dishes and containers! Take out garbage plastic sucks!

The best Asian food ever. We moved to Alberta a few months ago and still haven t found anywhere as good as Kim s. We miss it so much. We were regular customers and love their service. Come here if you want Quality food and amazing people!
This is what I got in my fried rice today. Very disappointed
Extremely dissatisfied. My order was incorrect, and it wasn t a few things. I was missing over half of my food. They wanted to give me store credit, but due to the experience with customer service (don t really want to come back), i ended up getting our food remade. Which resulted in an extra cost of gas (living out of town). My food is now over and hour late. Unacceptable as this was not just a cheap order. It was a big one for my mothers birthday. Not happy.

I came here during my previous trip. Service and food was great. Once I arrived in Brandon yesterday, I went to their parent location on First. Both are phenomenal. It was so good I ordered at night! The young lady delivered right to my hotel room. Although she had a mask on, I can tell she was smiling and was very courteous and friendly! Ill definitely be back!
