Excellent food. Very generous portions for a good price and friendly, welcoming staff. Outstanding
We stopped in a few weeks ago, hoping for a buffet so we could try a variety of foods. There was no buffet, we settled on the coffee, beef combo and kitfo entrees. The food was delicious, spicy and the fresh injera bread was lovely. I didn't love the texture of the beef but it was good and the lentils were my favorite. Portions were large, one platter would have been enough to share between 2 people but it was nice to taste a few options. The place had nice decorations, was clean and quite busy. We were just missing music to enhance the experience as it was very quiet.
The food is amazing, and the portions are very very generous. The cook/owner was very pleasant and welcoming. I’ve had excellent Ethiopian food in Toronto and Winnipeg, but this was the best ever! The combo #4 is enough for 2 people unless you are really really hungry.
We stopped in here during our Cross-Canada road trip, and we agreed that this is the best restaurant we've found so far. I've never had Ethiopian food before, so I ordered the combo plate which was a massive serving of different dishes with breads. What a gem of a restaurant!
The manager was very friendly and helpful. The sign out front advertised a daily buffet, but there wasn't a buffet. Apparently, it's coming soon. I ordered what I understood to be a combination plate. It turned out to be a huge 12-inch diameter Ethiopian injera bread, warm, soft and delicious just like it's supposed to be, plus a large bowl of what I will call stew/soup with beef, carrots, beans, onions and sweet green peppers and Ethiopian butter. I ordered the spicy option, which had a bit of a kick but not too spicy. The dish was very tasty, though I did find the beef, which was cut into little cubes, rather tough. He also gave me a couple of pieces of biscuits to soak up the liquid. The injera bread was warm and tasty. The atmosphere was very Ethiopian with pictures and decorations on the wall, giving it a quaint and very pleasant ambuence. I found the price of almost $20 to be a bit on the high side for a bowl of stew and the bread. But all together a very fine experience. I like trying food from different countries, and the manager and his mother created a fine Ethiopian atmosphere. I'll be back in the future for another try when they have a real buffet.
I absolutely love the food here. Authentic, different, and yet comforting too. It's food you can feel good about eating because it's good for you, and the mother and son who run the place are some of the warmest and kindest people I have ever met. They always come over to check on you. You feel like you are family.
This is a true gem of a place. The minute you walk in you feel transported to an amazing destination. The music and decorations in the venue provide the perfect atmosphere for the amazing food that is about to arrive. The prices were very reasonable. The owners were very friendly and helpful with explaining the menu as I am new to Ethiopian food. I ordered the beef cha cha and it was phenomenal.. it arrives on a cast iron skillet and is sizzling with the most satisfying of sounds. The coffee is a must try as well if you stop in here
The most unexpected small town jewel is in Brandon! In this restaurant you will find the best soulful cuisine and a lovely owner. The flavours and spices were also perfect for me. I was just passing by on my way to Vancouver, and I’m so happy I stumbled on this place. If I can find an Ethiopian restaurant half as good in BC I’ll be blessed! Thank you for this wonderful and yet so simple experience.

Ordered the Ye Habesha Doro Wat on Skip. Good does not even begin to describe what was delivered. This, without hesitation, is one of the best things I have ever had in my life, whether from a restaurant kitchen, a home kitchen, or my own. A wonderful heat mixed with incredible flavours and amazing injera. Do yourself a favor and go here. You won t be disappointed.

Whenever traveling to a new town/city I always make sure to check out local Ethiopian restaurants, and Id say Tana now tops the list of the best injera I have ever tried. Worth the drive from Winnipeg if you are a lover of Ethiopian food! So glad I found this place and will be back.

Absolutely amazing Ethiopian cuisine. Pinnacle of African ethnic food in silly little Brandon. If you dont enjoy this food then the only assumption is that your tongue is broken, go see a doctor. Small town restaurant with a comforting small town vibe, but big city flavor. Also, portions are absolutely massive for the price. I cannot recommend a better place to eat, in or out. Love it.

I got the Tana mix combo beef with injera today. The food was so delicious . They also gave me 2 slice of yummy Ethiopian bread, I wish I could know the secret of that bread. Overall 100% recommended. I love it. Thank you so much for your service.

What an amazing gem this place is in Brandon. You really have to respect this mom-and-son-owned and operated restaurant because they put their heart and soul into the business of delighting every single customer. We tried Tana combo meat. Food is phenomenal with delightful flavors and aromas that transport you to Ethiopia. Friendly and kind service, and prices are so reasonable. Would definitely come back when in town.

Friendly service and delicious food. The Tibs beef could be a staple to my diet if I lived closer. Weve eaten here more than half a dozen times now and it was great every time. Get it spicy!
Our favorite is the Tana mix combo beef. With injera. It feeds 2-4 people depending on the appetite. The beef is very tender and tasty. The whole meal is delicious that i always forget to take a picture before i dig in. Coffee is the best too. Parking on the side or at the back.
Easily the best food in Brandon . I do not eat out due to the lack of quality food now days, but upon coming to Tanas and taking a chance, this is probably the only place I would consider eating out for supper in Brandon . The food was OUTSTANDING and I don t say that lightly. The spices, and flavour was beyond that I could image. It was so good I couldn t help but dance in my chair while eating!!!! BEST FOOD IN BRANDON, and honestly best food I ve tasted in my travels for LONG time. Well done tanas! I would have loved to see a more of an African decorated restaurant- I would put money into the design and decor for aesthetic purposes, beyond that, wouldn t change a thing. Owners were really pleasant and wonderful too!

This place is an absolute gem. I have yet to dine in, but have had their Tana Mix delivered many times. It is flavourful with a bit of heat, several selections of dishes and very generous in its portions. It feeds me for at least three meals. I m looking forward to dining in sometime.

The old lady working there is so rude and stupid. She forces you to but things according to her, she has no respect for customer and the business. Definitely I won t recommend this place for poor customer service!
I was so wrong when I gave 5 stars to the service. I can say I m one of the most ppl who goes there every single day and we have a very bad service from the old lady and she has no respect at all she keep says it s what it s you can eat or go that is my behaviour which is very disrespectful way to treat a customers

Everytime we order food from here the food is amazing, authentic and a great spice level! The portions are very generous and the bread that comes with the combo meals is delicious.
The food here is absolutely delicious and the portion sizes are extremely generous given how little they charge! I would honestly have paid double for what I got, especially considering how tasty everything was. Ill definitely be back if Im ever passing through Brandon again!

Ive wanted to try Tana Ethiopian since they first opened! Very pleasant and aromatic experience! The food was a little spicy, but very tasty, and it was a great and different change from other restaurants in town! The buffet wasnt available at the time, but the portion sizes of the regular menu were so much more than our moneys worth!
Fantastic food
Ordered the Tana combo plate, almost as good as the buffet was in pre-covid. Always consistently good, but make sure you are hungry if you get the Tana, very large plate.

Tana is a treasure among Brandons food scene. We had the Veggie Combo and the Tana Mix Combo Beef. The variety and generous serving of injera and flatbread was like a buffet, takeout style. A+++ for flavour, presentation, and value. Friendly, fast service too!

One of the best places in Brandon to eat, server exceptionally friendly. First time trying Ethiopian food and it got me hooked, rolling out the injera on the plate and the flavors of the stews soak in and make each bite more tasty then the last. Lots of vegetarian stews, if you are looking for spicey then steer to the red. Price is affordable and worth it.

This is by far the best Ethiopian place Ive been to. Every time my girlfriend and I are close to Brandon MB we must go to Tana. They have an ethiopian buffet and it is wonderful to have everything that you want in the buffet.

I love the food here! You can feel that warm smell of their food as soon as you walk in The lady serving is very sweet and nice, always with that big smile. The place is perfectly clean all the time and the price is very affordable.

Delightful new experience. The food was delicious. It was buffet style, with lamb, chicken, and beef stew, red, green, and yellow lentils, cabbage, rice, and beets. Some of it was spicy, some not spicy, and some medium. The decor was beautiful, with a neat authentic display in the corner. It was very quick because of the buffet, and there were only a few other patrons. There was plenty of street parking nearby. It is within walking distance of many other businesses.

Love the food. Always friendly service. The only down fall is they switched to strictly buffet at lunch and supper which is good if you can eat it but I usually order the tana combo and take half of it home. But other than that would highly recommend this place

The buffet style was well received, the injera was perfect, the kye wat was spot on, the miser was okayish, the difer miser or green lentil was surprisingly good. I liked it but would not return. Unless I was really wanting some Kye wat, that stew was awesome!!

On my way to Winnipeg , taking the greyhound bus, I had some time to explore the city before leaving. So I went for a walk and I found this restaurant . Very good Atmosphere and quick service. I order a vegetarian food to take out. But when I started to eat I descover they didnt include forks, or napkins . I am VERY Dessapointed . Next time I will go for pizza , so I wont need forks or napkins . I had to wait to eat the food until arriving in Winnipeg almost 3 hrs since I bought the food. Coming back , maybe not for take out!!!
Terrible restaurant. No price list for a buffet, so i asked the lady in the front.She told me the price for adult is 13 and kid is half price. When I pay the bill,she charged me the same. I asked her why and she said because our food is cheap so need to be charged in full price. I questioned her thats not what you told me in the beginning. She admitted she told me the price is the same. I felt so bad as how much can 5 years old kid eat. Most restaurant offer a discount for kids. Under 5 even get a free meal.The price is actually 13.99 instead. She is not a very hornest owner. 13.99 isnt cheap for the food we get and certainly not for 5 years old kid. SHE IS NOT HONEST AND SHE CANT TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT.

I am originally from Winnipeg and have tried nearly all of the amazing Ethiopian options available there. Tana is by far the best in all regards. Their buffet is fresh, has amazing selection of perfectly seasoned dishes, and the staff are very friendly and sincere. The price is out of this world; two dinner buffets cost me $33 after tip and tax!

Initially I had no idea what to expect. The food, service and atmosphere were great. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The flavours were not overly exotic, so it was very easy to enjoy every last bite. We had a very nice, reasonably attentive, welcoming server. And the atmosphere was calm and inviting. The washroom was very nice and clean. Ill be going back regularly.
