Tried and true, this restaurant has been around a long time and still hits the mark for a good meal. Just too bad it's not more spacious. I had assistance to get in and seated this time but haven't been for a long while because it's just so congested walkers are not really usable here.
Breakfast there tastes good but the portions are pretty big
We ordered late in the day. They still made our order of battered mushrooms absolutely fantastic. The breading was light hot and crunchy. The best mushrooms I have ever had. Just delicious.

Do you ever just go to a restaurant and you’re just blown away by how bad the food and customer service is? That is the experience we had at Mum’s Family Restaurant in Brandon. The food was very under seasoned (no seasoning in their burger patty, it’s literally only ground beef formed into a patty). The pork chops were very undercooked and the fries were soaking in grease. Instead of offering to make my burger right or replace it they said that’s how they are and gave me seasoning salt (which didn’t help at that point). We have eaten there before and it was never like that. They asked to replace my husband’s pork but it was tasteless and undercooked and at that point he didn’t want to eat the pork. We wanted another option but that was a no. They left us sitting while the food got cold and ignored us while rudely talking about us around the corner. I only got help when I had to ask for a server to come over. That’s when the staff was rude again and said the owner had to come down which took 20 minutes. After waiting we explained to the owner what happened I was wary of letting them make me more food at this point. The owner offered 50% off the bill. I said fine and we would never return again. There were so many times when this could have been made right but the staff didn’t seem to have a clue about how to handle the complaint. It’s really too bad because the food and service was always so good here. We just won’t be returning because of it. Here’s a picture of the undercooked pork chops 🤮.
Very home style restaurant. Amazing food! This place has been a local icon to Brandon for years. I’ve had multiple items from here in the past and nothing seems to disappoint. The restaurant itself is very small though and sometimes can be hard to get a seat because of all the locals constantly here. Staff was helpful and the service was fast, only waited about 15 minutes from placing my food order when the restaurant was packed. Around 15$ per meal before tax. Would 100% eat here again.
September the 10th 2022 we came here for breakfast the pancakes in the picture were the biggest pancakes I have ever seen and the best tasting they were at least 10 inches in diameter each If you really hungry for breakfast this is the place to be. you get good value for your money. and it tastes good too. June 29th, 2023 We were there for Lunch I orded Pulled Pork it came with fries & Cole Slaw, Pulled Pork Sandwhich was good But the onion Ring on it was left in the Fryer toooo long it was tooo hard My Fries were left in the fryer tooo long as well and were to hard, I told the waitress she said ok and got New Fries they were also over done and hard So they took the Fries off my bill. Another Thing they do not Show you your Bill until you Pay For it. I feel the Bill Should Be Brought to my table for review Before I have to Pay for it. the banana cream pie was very good.
Great service and wonderful food! This was the Farmer's Breakfast that was a great meal to start the day. Coffee was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. The ever attentive staff ensured that my family and I lacked for nothing. Would definitely go back the next time I'm in Brandon.

Just a bad experience altogether. The staff was overwhelmed and rude when dealing with a albeit different customer. The food was badly thought out when cooked. Eg. Do not ever put fresh tomatoes under hot egg scramble. The result? A pool of tepid water at the bottom, making an already flavorless dish worse. Of the four of us, three did not even come close to finishing our meals. Did not bother packing up leftovers. Just trash that slop. The highlight was the cinnamon bun. Obviously brought in but atleast it was grilled correctly.
This is a great little restaurant with home cook style meals. Its a friendly little place.

Took my parents here for supper. It was a wonderful experience. Friendly, caring staff, with a seniors menu that cant be beat. We all ordered something different from the menu and it was all delicious. My parents are still talking about it. This will be a must go-to place with them when Im visiting.

We went to Brandon, Manitoba, Canada for Spring break, on the way out we had late breakfast at moms. Everything was very nice, with no complaints from the family except me. I had the club, it needed toothpicks because my sandwich fell over maybe a little more meat. Service was unprecedented, kind, funny, attentive, Recommended
Great food. Prices are reasonable, they give lots of food on the plate and the food is hot, fresh, and I can tell the fries are homemade, not from a bag.
Wonderful place to eat. You will not leave hungry. Servers are easy-going and have a good sense of humour. All the food is good.

I really like breakfasts and especially my favorite French toasts and always good service.
First time to Brandon and thought we would stop at a local place. Overall the place is a little dated however, the service was fantastic and the food was very good. The homemade apple pie was top notch. A great mom and pop stop.

Breakfast specials are good but I went to their page to look at their menu, Seen the burger they had for their cover photo and decided oh that s what I will have! Yeah I don t think that s actually a burger they made. Sub par at best. Quality is not accurate as depicted in the picture. So thumbs down

I was looking forward to eating brunch there as they had pierogies in their breakfast combos but ended up really disappointed. Bacon was cold and congealed (likely cooked well over an hour before served), pierogies were store-bought, deep fried and also cold, sausages were very good, eggs and toast were fine. Servers were friendly but no check-back after meal was served, hard to flag down servers to get their attention, didnt say thanks when tipped. The place seems to have a lot of potential for a great independent breakfast-diner experience but poor food preparation really killed it for me.

Food was delicious!! Service was awesome! My hubby had the pork chop meal and he really enjoyed it! I had their new meal which was Farmer Sauage, homemade macaroni and cheese with smoky bacon! It was so good! I couldnt eat it all so I had the leftovers the next day!

Was once our go to place for breakfast. This restaurant has sure gone downhill. Asked for overeasy eggs they were hard, hashbrowns were undercooked, see through bacon was curled up and burnt. Etc etc. Service was terrible. Wont be back!

I was going to come here after work to have breakfast with my family but given the verbal abuse given by the owner for not having a bigger delivery bag (large order) I think Ill steer clear of an establishment that treats people in a harmful manner.
There food is always good and quick..get there early, its not that big of a place. I had salad and soup for lunch.

Went here for lunch and had the Mac & cheese which was fantastic and the soup and salads that came out looked very good. I noticed people were having trouble reading the debit card machine and when it was my turn to pay the screen is so scratched up that you can barely read it. Would suggest upgrading it.
Three stars for the food but -2 for the service. Meals were delicious, however our waiter was very rude, brought out the wrong food and refused to replace our order (even though we didn t even touch it) definitely will not be back because of the unpleasant service
I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. My wife had a small breakfast. We are not impressed with the food at all. If you like your food saturated with grease (deep fried) , you are at the right place. My sandwich was small with little corned beef and to make up for it my plate was filled with fries that looked good, but I prefer my fries crispy. The corned beef was tasty but very rubbery. Coleslaw was the only thing descent on my plate. My wifes breakfast plate was saturated with deep fryer grease. The place was clean and the service was good, thats the reason I gave the place 3 stars. Not impressed, do not recommend, not ever going back.

Slow service. When the food came, it wasnt what we had asked for, the server didnt mind taking it back but you could hear the kitchen yelling about it. Pretty expensive for what it was. Probably wont return

We found exactly what we were looking for at this restaurant: a home-cooked-eggs-potatoes-and-bacon breakfast. And they serve breakfast all day. The service was *super* efficient while also very friendly, my over-medium eggs were actually over-medium, the coffee was decent if not superb, and there were plastic dividers separating the tables for Covid protection. If I didnt have celiac I could have ordered perogies (which I love) as a side instead of the delicious chunky potato pan- fries I had. I wish i could give Mums a 4.5 rating. The only reasons I dont give this restaurant 5 stars is that the ambience was very busy with morning traffic and not as restful as I would prefer (not Mums fault, but still entered into my enjoyment of the place) and the bacon was soggy, not crispy. I would definitely return, however, and make a point of asking for crispy bacon.

A true family restaurant with a comfortable & cozy ambience. Great friendly service and true home cooked style food. Was highly recommended by friends and Mums did not disappoint. Well be returning in the future.

Ive ordered twice for pick up and the first time wasnt to bad other than I got over easy eggs instead of scrambled eggs. But this time there was so many things wrong, I didnt get sour cream with my perogis, i got rye toast instead of white, I didnt get tomatos in my Canadian scrambler, and the hash browns were over cooked and hard. You can tell there perogis and hash browns are bought and frozen. Dont order unless you want them to mess up your order and waist your money.

Went there for breakfast. Ordered an omelet that came with a side of tomato slices and two pieces of toast for $10.99. After eating three tomato slices and half a piece of toast, I discovered a hair in the omelette (melted right in the cheese and in the folded egg, so definitely not mine). I pointed this out to the server who offered a new one, but I declined as my appetite was gone. Got the bill and she charged me $1.50 for tomato slices and $2.99 for toast that Id eaten 1/4 of, making a disappointing experience even worse. Wont return.

I felt compelled to comment after reading some negative reviews. I periodically go for breakfast, but once in a while I will have lunch there. Ive never had a bad meal there. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so a Mums breakfast hits the spot. Eggs are always done to order and I like that they have marble rye toast as one of their choices. Also, your pick of potatoes, shredded, tater tots, grilled or deep fried hash browns. Staff are very friendly. There is a loyal crowd that come in on a daily basis and take out food is also popular. Its a popular place and seating is limited. I think its a great place to eat. Just saying.

Service was terrible. Waited 20 min for a table. Service was very slow, took an hour to get food ordered steak and eggs and a clubhouse sandwich. they prioritize skip the dishes. Asked to speak with manager would not come and talk to usdishes over pepole in the restaurant.

Had Eggs Benedict (which is my absolute favourite breakfast/brunch item) and everything was good about it except the hollandaise sauce which tasted sour and the teeny amount of shredded potatoes that accompanied it - could not have been more than 1/4 cup. Good service and friendly staff. Price was acceptable.

Horrible customer service! I treated my elderly mother to brunch and the waitress snapped at her multiple times and threw the menu at her! I used to go here all the time when I lived in the city. I will never go again. Plus I was overcharged $7!

Food was not great but not terrible either. The woman working was VERY rude! There was no mask mandate at the time I went. Walked in the door without a mask then waited to be seated, and from a distance, she YELLED at me to go get a mask. It would have been nice if she kindly said, we require masks when walking around the restaurant. Instead, she literally raised her voice so loud that other patrons turned quickly. However, it didnt phase them too much, maybe this is normal for her or maybe she was having a bad day... Either way, no way to treat a customer who was kindly waiting at the door for a table. Of course I went to get a mask from the car. I wouldnt have come back inside if it wasnt for meeting someone there for breakfast. I will not go back!
