First time to this place. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the Haddock and chips. The fish was an ok size but nothing special. The french fries where terrible. They where like wood chips. You couldn't put your fork in them. The same for the people I was with. Maybe they where leftovers from the lunch time as we where early for dinner. Not sure if we would go back again.
Saturday night we went to the arms just for a bite to eat...well...we got there and although they were packed and we had no reservations they seated us very promptly. .we enjoyed really good service and the food is always outstanding as most everything is made in-house. ..we had appetizers..very large portions!.. drinks and then desert..omg..to die for..but then they had entertainment..single guitar /singer..that was fantastic....we had the best evening with friends I just wanted to share this. I'm sorry I can't remember names of dishes and singer but I'm visiting from Tennessee USA..and I truely enjoyed the Arms..definitely will go back before leaving st george! I love this place! Definitely worth trying! Thanks everyone at the arms!
My God the best Lamb burgers ever! Thank you St. George arms staff for the best lunch in forever. We were not able to dine there for a few years and the burgers were as good as we remembered. The staff are always wonderful and all around great place. Thanks Dave and Julie
The floors are a bit odd to walk when sober, let alone having a few pops lol, The servers were all awesome and very friendly, I forget their names, but the two servers with tattoos, love them, and they are both very funny and happy smiles, we had a soup or the day and fish and chips, both were solid, we will be back. Keep up the great work lady's, also not to mention the great live entertainment. Thanks in advance Richard Katerenchuk
I am confused by the reviews that mention there is a nice patio. There is a small patio that overlooks a residential backyard and unkempt shed. The patio tables are an eyesore, all chipped and damaged. I had the lamb burger, and it was overcooked and dry. The bun was far too big for the size of the patty. The portion of fries was small compared to most places. The carrot cake which was the dessert special was nicely presented and very tasty. And the service was good. Those were the only two positives. It was quite a disappointment because the menu looked promising and I had been looking forward to enjoying a nice meal in a pleasant outdoor space and St. George Arms did not deliver on either count.
Great live music and delicious food. Pub mushrooms and grilled Ruben were both fabulous. Lovey patio and friendly and welcoming staff. Such a pleasant place to spend a summer afternoon.
My wife and I first came here just before we purchased a house in the area. The staff were fantastically friendly, the food was super and the atmosphere was great! From that first experience we have continued to come back. The patio is fantastic, and even in the dark days of winter the inside tables are just as great. The soup of the day is always phenomenal, and the daily specials are always worth a look. The menu is full of lots of choices and it is all excellent. The chef is really quite fantastic. My wife and I would highly recommend this location! It is our absolute favourite!
Update: June 2022 Great service and food. Nice outdoor patio out back, and lots of seating inside as well. They always are able to accommodate our group of 10-15 and service is friendly. Food is excellent value, and a nice varied menu. Easy to find something you'll like. Our group this time ordered fish & chips, corned beef sandwiches with fries/salad, Mediterranean wrap, shepherd's pie with fresh asparagus...everything as excellent. Thank you to our lovely male server who has been there for years and is always on the ball!
Great food. Hearty and tasty pub fare . Large portions. Friendly staff.
Amazing food awesome people Parking: St gorges by the church Food : 5/5 |
Amazing service and our food was at our table almost immediately after ordering and the food was delicious i would recommend Kid-friendliness: Great kid friendly dishes like chicken strips and chicken wings. They also have a bowl of candy at the entrance/exit for kids to take home as a treat
Fantastic place, Its quaint. The staff is unbelievable and the food is exceptional.
Old old building. Kinda nostalgic. Had wings special. They were ok. Not a large selection of flavours
Always a great visit there.
Must go. Everything was awesome
Reasonable pub food, not overly expensive, but a very busy location.
Good food. Nice patio. Reasonably-priced
Had a nice time here, staff was excellent and food was good!
Best chicken wings
Friendly staff, meaningful pub fare, relaxing partio on the back deck
Great place to relax and have a meal.
St George is a quaint little town and St George Arms is a great place to stop for lunch and a beer on the back patio.
The fish and chips were amazing. My friend had the stuffed yorkshire.. Loved it Food
First time there and we will deffinelty be back. Service was great. Really likes he decor and patio.
Had a lovely dinner on the patio. Waitress was great will definitely go again.
Burgers tend to be over-cooking here, but everything else is pretty good. Great atmosphere.
Excellent food and staff
Amazing place in the George. The food is delicious, the beers are cold, and the have an amazing patio in the back. Cheers
Great food at a good price.
Great as usual
Best pub around! Food and service always great !
St Georges Pub has an old fashion pub feel. Lots of wood and uneven floors. Service was friendly and food was good.
Amazing atmosphere, food was soooo good.
Great service and the food was super tasty. The sheppards pie was delicious. Would recommend. Some of the best pub food around the area. Could use some updating but pretty cool old school pub atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Great place, especially when the wings are on special !
We held my Moms 90th birthday party there yesterday. 30 people. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Melissa took really good care of us. All the food came out hot. The restaurant was very accommodating. Weve already started planning her 95th, and will hold it there again.
We met with friends of mine. I havent seen in years and we all enjoyed our dinner at St. George Arms. Three of us selected the same meal while my partner had a turkey club. All the food was delicious.
We just had the best roast beef and mashed potatoes! The portion side was enough to feed 2. Definitely hit the spot on a blustery winter day.
Homey, quality service. Terrific onion rings, too!
I did not enjoy my meal. I ordered a lamb burger which had no taste.
The buttery Buffalo wing sauce here is the BEST ever!!!! The wings are always amazing. Good drinks too, and employees that make you feel so welcome! No complaints!
We had good service and food. It was noisy, but it is a bar with televisions, and generally full.
Absolutely wonderful ambience and delicious food. Fantastic escargot, veggie burger extraordinaire and knowledgeable staff!
Servers great. My husband had a great Ruben sandwich. Myself my burger was over cooked (dry) and the bun was old and dry. With older buns try grilling them for a little toasting to bring it back to life. Salad was very refreshing.
We went for my mothers 85th birthday. This was our first time at St Georges pub in years as we all live quite a distance away. The atmosphere is just as charming as ever, the food remains delicious, our server Melanie was rock solid and the owner remains as courteous as ever. A winning formula for a well deserved long established pub.
Great local pub/hangout/gathering place. Staff are great, helpful ,attentive and fun. Had the house burger, and tried some wings and fries.
Firstly gotta say really like this place, atmosphere is great food tastes great. But . I had the Shin and Guinness it tasted good but for 19.99 and all I have to say is where s the beef? I will come back but I will order something else and maybe they won t have left out the most expensive ingredient.
Dropped in while randomly exploring. What a great discovery! From the friendly service from Brett, to the accommodations of the kitchen for my wifes allergies, to the homey decor, this is a pub worth driving to for a visit. I particularly recommend the burger with corned beef: an inspired and delicious combination that far surpasses the medicore efforts of other places to pep up their burgers with avacados, prawns, onion rings and other not-quite-right fixings. Add to that that they serve Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and Guinness and what more can you ask for? How about malt vinegar for the fries without asking? How about a trellised patio? We are definitely coming back.
Excellent lunch & service. A must TRY
Nice place, I will return.
Chicken burger was mid. Prices are a bit steeper than I d like.. but reasonable. Went back a second time and had a great 8/10 meal :) service was very enthusiastic
Nice pub, good food and Guinness
Good pint and good service. Mark is doing a stand up job w8th the Arms
Great food and great atmosphere! I always enjoy going there for a great dinner and drinks
Service was good, the patio is a nice size with a great view of the gardens
Great food great ambiance great staff and service ... Been a while since there ... Definitely go back again ... James M from Guelph
Great outdoor patio and service. Everyone friendly including staff! Welcoming country charm!
Quaint, quiet pub. Great patio for a cold beer on a hot day! Didnt try the food, but the beverage service was great!!
The outdoor patio is awesome. The service is great too. However the chicken wings we ordered were too dry, overcooked and hard to chew. It was fried too long. The amount/quantity we got for 20$ chicken wings is less than the other restaurants which serve chicken wings nearby. We paid 80$ for 2 order of chicken wings and a burger.
Excellent service on the patio which offered lots of shade on a very hot day. Halibut and chips, chicken pot pie and curry dish were all very good. Will definitely return. Food : 5/5
What a great meal, very tasty and portions were large but not crazy. We had a very nice dinner and the live music was a nice bonus, he new a wide variety of songs.
Good service The place needs a little refresh. Very friendly Good portions Vegetarian options: I had a Mediterranean wrap It was good but basically a Greek salad with a creamy dressing. And I had the sweet potato fries which were excellent
Great service and food was delicious one of our favorites
I brough in a visiting friend from Singapore. She enjoyed everything as much as I did Food
Love the patio . Food is great and the service has always been fabulous. Especially Mary
First time there, great food.
Had the soup and fish and chips. It was delicious.
Wings were cooked perfectly. Great service.
A good meal, busy spot. The patio looks amazing.
We didn t receive a welcome from the waitresses like everyone else who entered after us. They didn t even say Hi ? Just asked if we had a reservation.. we should ve left at that point ..Dark and dingy atmosphere they clearly don t clean regularly as my asthmatic mother had difficulty breathing.. they had fans going, but no air conditioning on? It was just way too humid to be too cheap to run A/C we ordered the nachos, halibut and chips, haddock and chips, shepherds pie and coconut shrimp.. the nachos were tri coloured (red, green and white corn) the amount of dye on the red and green nachos was disgusting!!! The colour from the nachos ended up bleeding onto the rest of the vegetables . All you could taste was the dye.. there were so many toppings on the nachos that the cheese wasn t melted. The toppings didn t taste fresh, but punny? the nachos were absolutely gross ($23.99) .. the halibut and chips was $30 for TWO pieces we only got one piece. Shepherds pie was not shepherds pie, but gravy and ground beef with mashed potatoes on top. There was one single piece of carrot in the ground beef mixture.. this is not a Pub. Your chef is not a chef. Your waitresses are not waitresses. ..the staff are lazy and incompetent . The management clearly does not care about customer service . ..fruit flies everywhere . I m surprised this joint is still open?? Our bill was $150 this was, BY FAR, the biggest disappointment we have ever had in St. George.. we definitely won t be back and I hope this place closes down and opens a real pub. There s no point in complaining about the food. The waitresses didn t care. I asked for lemons in my water and didn t receive any, so when I approached the same waitress once again for lemons ,she handed me two lemons on a pick, but didn t give me the pic, so I carried them over in my hand back to the table. This place is gross. I would ve given absolutely zero stars if I could. Maybe if you re waitresses weren t so insecure the service could ve been better?..teacher your chef how to cook because they clearly lack the skills and intelligent to do so.. stop ripping people off and get yourself straight
Shout out to our wonderful waitress Christie who made our visit extra special. Food was, as usual, absolutely delicious. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Stopped in town for a quick lunch and liked the vintage look of the front of the Arms. Once inside, after taking a moment for our eyes to adjust, we were warmly greeted by the bartender/server Mallory. It was our first time there, so we decided to stay inside and take in the atmosphere of the very old building. We spoke to Mallory for a few moments about the building itself, and she gave us a brief history. She could not have been friendlier without being over the top and obnoxious. She was attentive without being annoying, and I really liked her personality. Mallory, you are an asset to that place.! Our drink orders were taken immediately after we sat down. She gave us lots of time to look at the menu, and it only took her a couple of minutes to come to us once the menus were put down to take our order. She brought us our food in record time and it was really really good. My husband had the halibut and chips and I had the Reuben sandwich with a salad. All of the food was fresh, made, hot, and tasted excellent. They even had my all-time favourite brew on tap and it was served in an ice cold glass. After we were done eating, we sat for a little bit and just looked around at everything. Contrary to a previous review, we found the restaurant to be just fine for cleanliness. The bathrooms were dated, but there was no problem as far as functionality and they were very clean. It s not like you re sitting in there eating your meal. The building itself is over 200 years old, and I like how they kept the integrity of that age. The place has a tremendous amount of character and we love it. I think we found our new favourite restaurant when we re travelling this way. Next time if the weather permits will check out the patio. Mallory, thank you for your excellent service! We will be back.
Really consistent: excellent service, very good food, reasonable prices, comfortable ambiance. On the downside: on street parking only, steep steps on entry so not accessible.
Service is good. Atmosphere is nice. Didnt know they had a patio until my last visit. Love a good patio. Sadly, the food is not as good. Last few meals were bland, dry and overcooked. Last meal, chicken bacon wrap was dry and flavourless, minus the charring from the grill. Before that had the liver and onion entree. Again overcooked, extremely dry and tough. Kitchen could learn a thing or two regarding herbs and spices. Its the rest of the jars and containers past the salt and pepper.
The place was great, the staff was very friendly. I did not eat anything, so I could not rate the food.
Hi was there today for a late lunch after a job in town graet service awsome atmosphere the liver and onions is the best thanks see you again soon
Mark the owner always makes you feel like you belong. Thanks Mark.
Nice pub with an amazing back patio.. Great beverages and staff are wonderful and attentive. Food
Had wings on wing night . Wings were a good size and were done . However I ordered hot , they werent, sauce was terrible what sauce there was . Ive always enjoyed the arms wings not this time. I was told the recipe was changed, why spoil a good thing??????
Its one of the hidden gems in the KW neighbourhood. It is an amazing feeling once you get in as if you are actually in the UK. Food
Beer was good and cold , atmosphere a 9 staff was great but the wings were all overcooked( 6 eat wings that night ) sauces were watery and blah
Went here for dinner a few nights ago, the server we had, Brooke, was super friendly and attentive. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. The food and drinks were really good as well. We will definitely be returning!
Great pub friendly staff steal food!!!
What a great place
Great place for a beer. Thursday nights has some great deals.
Love this pub, best in St. George, great fish and chips and the atmosphere inside is great too, friendly staff, and plenty of beer on tap to be had.
It was edible but the fries were way overdone will not go again
Live music coming
Stopped in at the St George Arms for an early supper. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere with my sister and brother in law. I enjoy the chicken fingers and dip with fries. Overall a pleasant visit.
Best fish and chips ever. Great service. Worth the drive to st.george.
Always a great place to eat! Mallory and Melissa are the best servers!
Excellent hot wings
Overpriced freezer food I paid 14$ for 5 tiny shrimp and For the sandwich I got I d be better off getting one from the gas station .frys where not crispy very uncomfortable atmosphere. Definitely won t be back .for food in st george stick to the dragon
The staff was friendly and the service was prompt. My wife and I both enjoyed our food. Prices were quite reasonable.
Great food
The place was nice, staff were friendly, and the food was good. St George Arms seems a bit out of the way, but its a great place to eat if youre in the St George area. One of us dropped a ring through the patio and the staff brought us straws and tape to make a stick long enough to reach down and grab it. A really great feel-good memory thatll stick with me for a long time whenever I think of St George Arms. Definitely recommended and I hope to be back soon!
Had the special: turkey burger with sweet potato fries. It was fantadtic; a nice change from a beef burger. He had his usual Knighted Chicken. Quaint place, great food, great atmosphere, and a patio.
Stopped at my favorite patio for my favorite burger what happened the food was tasteless dry the burger came first then the fries this is not rocket science so sad.
Good food. Wonderful patio under the trees. Great service.
Great pub with good food. Decent selection of beer. Nice patio in the summer.
Ordered wings for takeout, first time, and couldn t eat them . Wings were really gamey tasting and sitting in oil in the container. So not sure whether the taste was from the oil or just gamey chicken. Quite disappointing .. and we ordered 3 lbs!
Food and service is always great!
Love the atmosphere. Staff was super nice and my burger and fries were amazing. Definitely will be back.
Friendly and accommodating for our large party.
Great food, New owner, same great staff.
The food was okay but the wait staff was horrible. Our server literally started by introducing herself and telling us she did not care that our whole party did not arrive because this is just her side job and not her full time job anymore. She rushed around huffing at people and spent most of her time hanging out at one particular table with two guys and seemed really inconvenienced at needing to just do her job. I had the Mediterranean chicken which was a much smaller portion than I thought for $22 but thats just shrinkflation I guess. I probably would not go back here.
Great food good service they had a party of 60 on the patio and still got the food out in a timely manner i would say it is a must try restaurant
Food was good, service was even better
Phenomenal...food was great service was great.....will be back!!
The beer was cold, the wings were hot. We loved the place!
Just had lunch today here for the first time since 20 years ago, food was great! Ambiance is awesome, patio is unreal, and the staff is amazing. Found out Mark is now the owner and I couldnt be more thrilled. Cant wait to come back next time Im in town!
Amazing home cooked meals and great service
Great service and the food was very good. A lovely place to meet up with an old friend.
Just ok.
Great food, great service and atmosphere
Nice environment with friendly staff and good food.
Classic village pub by the river with a patio. Good food, friendly service
Charming small town pub with excellent service and a large patio. November 1st and we could sit outside, enjoy chicken wings and a few pops, just awsome. Floors inside make sober people seem inebriated, its just the wonky 150 year old floors.
Just moved to town and this us already my families favortie spot to eat. Small town pub feel and amazing food :)
Another great meal and drinks at the Arms . Great service that makes you feel welcome. Thanks again to Mark and the whole team for making our Thursday night regular always a night to look forward to.
Awesome, friendly service. Relaxed. We go for their Ruben sandwiches for lunch. Best weve ever had. Meaty, lots of Kraut...absolutely delicious!
Amazing wings and super friendly staff!
Old early 20th century pub...lots of atmosphere and pretty good food.
The St. George Arms offers British Pub Food and is a local destination for that neighbour feeling of everyone feeling welcomed. The fish and chips are awesome and the building gorgeous. You must visit this local good eats pub.
Excellent British Pub Food and great service. The Jam Butty is the best dessert anywhere
A friendly laid-back place with great food and service. Drove from London to pick up sis in Tillsonburg to have lunch at The Arms.
I love this place! Its delicious! Im a bit bummed they dont have the liver and onions during this time at present, (limited menu due to covid restrictions I assume) but their fries and gravy are to diiiie for!
Food was great as always. Staff was very friendly. Prebook a table to be sure you get in
Love it
Salt your french fries. Come on.
Patio is so lovely, food is exceptional - both presentation and flavour. Price is reasonable and quantities leave no one hungry. We love our trips to the St. George Arms!
Great food shared a burg and fries
Good to be back!
Amazing food , I ll definitely be back ! Great service!
Friendly staff, typical pub menu and decor. Parking isn t great - street and public lot parking only. Draft beer is a mix of domestic and imported with a few craft beers from Ontario.
A nice size patio at back which made for a nice dining atmosphere. Had Baron of Beef, a piled high of shaved beef, mashed taters and crispy onions with a nice dark gravy and a WICKED horseradish that tied together well!!! Saw other items coming out that makes me want to go back and try. Awesome service!!!
After Covid, coming home to the St George Arms was a blessing. After 18 months of isolation, the staff remembered my favorite order, my favorite table, and the last joke we laughed about. Great service, spectacular food, Owner is a great guy!
Good fish and chips, reasonably priced too..
Nice patio , Good service, but not so good haddock & chips. Fish didnt taste like haddock... was actually smelly and single portion very small.... if it was haddock, it may have sat too long outside the fridge. French fries were tasty, but didnt make up for the small portion of smelly fish. Never again.
Go for fish and chips Monday. Great value. Cold beer at reasonable prices.
Excellent service and good food. Patio very nice.
Food was good. The patio is really lovely. Our server was friendly and attentive.
We have visited this restaurant in downtown St. George a few times. Great pub food. Highly recommend their chicken wings. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. We will be coming back again soon.
Missed this place...so glad to have stopped and food was delicious!
The food is great! Party of 5 the server was amazing and kind. We ordered fish and chips, Sheppards Pie ( so the bomb) deep fried pickles, coconut shrimp, soup of the day was delicious and another dish with mashed potatoes and beef. The food was amazing and delicious. The portions were huge.
We were greeted immediately by friendly staff ,then seated a few minutes later. Our server was fast and friendly. We did not try any menu items as we were just popping in for a pint, but will return for sure!
Nice patio in the back. Great fish & chips!
Great food, great service.
Great old pub, good pub food. Fun place to have a lunch or stop in for a drink and some appetizers.
dropped in after a round of golf and enjoyed the whole experience, great service, good quality food and outstanding value...
My wife, son and I booked a reservation as we have been going there for years (not covid lately). Both my son and I were wearing our masks but unfortunately my wife with debilitating respiratory condition cannot. After handing in our double vaxx passes we sat there while walk-ins, who were fully masked, were allowed to just push past us. They were not even asked to show their Vax certificates in what seemed to a way to avoid addressing us. My wife even asked if they had a mask she could use just to get to the table and was promptly shut down just before we were ignored as they attended to the walk in customers. We were denied service because of my wife.. I asked if she was able to pull here shirt over here face just to make it to the table (at least larger breathing room) .. .NO!! standing stunned.. with more people walking in, with no reservations, we ended up leaving. My wife humiliated and degraded. The remainder of our extended family had just arrived and we werent able to join them.
Typical pub fare, comfy decor, good selection of beverages
Great food. I had the bangers, my wife had the Bombay curry. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. Well be back.
Ive never been to Ontario before and this was the first place Id eaten at after landing. Biggest burger Ive ever eaten and straight up delicious AF. Mark was a great guy and made the experience. Thanks!
One of our favorites!
Great place to gather with friends
Food was great and staff were friendly
