I tried the Nova Scotia Donair, it took 25 minutes to get it due to the constant chatter in Indian from the 2 girls working there. They never shut up the whole time saying who knows what because it wasnt in English. I got the Donair, they microwaved my bread for about 3 minutes it was hard as rock, The meat was all dried out like jerky and had a consistency of leather and cardboard I saw 3 pieces of tomato and some sauce, the only thing related to a Donair was the sauce. It was the worst Donaur I ever had, Ill never retuned. BTW I threw the Mess out in the garbage. I gave it a Star as it was the only way to Post. Dietary restrictions: Dont eat the food

Killer fish and chips best in brantford Ontario with ease. Havent been back in years new owners but serve wings now and was not disappointed. Im a wing flat man not a fan of drums and I got all flats super saucy 13.99 a lb very fair. Poutine was massive and only 6.99 insane. Wish I had the photo still

I tried the Thursday special, cod and fries. There was hardly any fish, mostly batter. It was beyond greasy, fries were so dry and hard no flavor, seemed old. I will never eat here again! Save your money go elsewhere!

I drove down to try the Halifax Donair; I havent had one in years. I arrived at 12:30pm. According to their signs and Google listing they open at Noon, but no one is there. Lights off, door locked. No answer when I call. Im happy to change my review when I can get in to try it. Was just raving at work about how excited I was, and now really disappointed. Am happy to return if its confirmed this place is still open?

This place has the best fish and chips so far hands down in Brantford. The purchase are so good.

It was my first time ordering from them and everything was delicious. Friendly service and was explained the specials. I ordered the large fish (8 Oz) and I have enough for another meal. I would recommend them and will be going back.

Got the halibut fish and chips to go. Drove home about 10 minutes and fish was still crispy and hot. Not greasy at all and the breading was fantastic. Fries were OK, they didnt stay as hot or crispy. Coleslaw was alright, but the best was the fish. Would come back again just for the fish and maybe try something else from the menu. Thank you to the owner for the extra piece, it was the perfect amount for the 3 of us.

We ordered fish and chips tonight and paid $95 for very small portions of fish, fries, and onion rings. We ordered 2 double pieces and 1 single piece meals. The double portions equaled a single portion. Our onion rings order had 9 rings total. Based on the first experience it was barely enough to feed 3 people. For $100 we shouldve been stuffed. I do not recommend this place for food currently. I have photos of the meal if curious.

Its getting expensive to eat out , but they have a great fish and chips with different options. The people are great

Outstanding quality and more than we could eat. The fries were crisp and tasty and the Halibut cooked to perfection. Just the right amount of batter, and not shy with the portions. Having eaten at a number of these establishments over the years, The Lighthouse is by far superior in freshness, taste and pricing. Excellent table and customer service. Looking forward to my next visit.

First experience here and we did come at end of night of Friday. Food was really good. They were out of potatoes so told me that I would need another side, the other sides were more money but they gave me the battered mushroom free and then as we were still eating they ended up having fries left over so the worker came over to give me a huge takeout container full of them! Very pleased with the service and how they made my experience more enjoyable

Was excited to try this place but it wasnt really all that great. The Donair was good, thats for sure. But the wait was a very long time. They said they sell apple crumble but instead they had apple pie. The fries, even though they were frozen, were barely cooked. Somewhat raw and soft. The onion rings were so greasy and had no spice or salt on them at all. Overall, pretty disappointed. I want to try the fish so I might give it another try. A lot of hype for subpar food.

Oh god the wait time is so long I really don t like the service . Even I day I went for door dash order it was supposed to be packed by 06:55 & they give me that order at 07:08 10-13 mints waiting was hilarious. Hate this

Greasy greasy and greasy Everything was dripping in grease. For the price I wasn t impressed one bit. The only real decent thing out of what I ordered including the fish, deep fried mushrooms, deep fried pickles I can say the fries were good. Hope others have better luck than I did as this was my first and last time.

After seeing everyone talk about how theyre the best fish and chips, our family finally stopped by the try them out. We arent overly into fish so we dont have it often. The fish was nice, tasty and well cooked. The staff was pleasant and we observed them being very considerate and helpful to their senior guests. The fact that they didnt charge for tartar sauce was surprising and my son enjoyed it. I will say we were not in love with the coleslaw. It really didnt have any taste and was extremely bland. We will give that a skip if we go again.

Large portions, good price and friendly staff

Just discovered this place so popped in to have some fish and chips, but I was distracted by the fact that they also had chicken wings on special at a dollar apiece so I decided to go that direction instead. I felt I really had no choice once I discovered that they had a sweet chili Thai sauce to prepare them instead of my usual honey garlic. They were certainly okay but the staff was friendly and I thought I better come back here and try out the fish, too, so I may have to update this report at some date in the future...

Good food, but its only open till seven which is weird Id go there way more if it didnt close so early i live across the road from it, and I could count over a 100 times when I was gonna go eat there but u look at the clock n its 6:50 which is dinner time for many people. Theyve missed out on thousands of $ cuz of the stupid hours they have. I think it might be an issue with to many employees being paid at once, usually when I walk in there they have like 8 employees doing what 2 people can do, it dont take 8 people to fry fish n chips...maybe u could stay open a couple hours longer if u get rid of useless employees lol. I may be wrong but Id really like to know why u only stay open till 7pm when ur business is right beside 3 different motels...

The fish was sub, undercooked and tasted of oil that was used to cook a lot of things. Tasted less like fish and more like a concoction of everything fryable, seems like the oil was old, good CR though

Shout out to Door Dash for getting us hooked up in 45mins with a great meal! Avoid Uber and Restaurants that accept orders and cancel last minute

Never had a Donair before, didnt even know you could get them in Brantford. I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant, Great portions and the flavours were great as well! Try one soon, you wont regret it.

This is literally the best paintball park in Ontario. There were 75 people opening day after annoying covid finally started coming to an end. Adrenaline, laughs, welts, no pain, no gain, a couple of us have never played paintball before... now they are buying a whole entire paintball set up to go again next time. The scenarios, refs, battle grounds/ mini town scenarios that are built there are incredible, i believe there were 3 fields in total. Games like: Slap stick, carry the gas tank to blow up the vehicle. Etc. Very well organized and they serve hotdogs for 1230. So you dont have to leave haha. Thanks Ultimate paintball staff. Was one of the best paintball experiences.

As a Nova Scotianer living in Ontario, I can without a doubt say this was the best donair outside of the east coast I have ever had! The staff was courteous and the food was delicious!

Have had both the fish and chips as well as donair. Both are excellent and Lighthouse is our go to for the Thursday night special fish and chips.

We order from Lighthouse frequently and they are definitely our favourite place for fish and chips and their donairs are amazing! Portions are huge, prices are more than reasonable and the staff are friendly. Never been disappointed.

I generally dont leave bad reviews but this was a really bad experience. We did not get the gravy we ordered, the apple crumble pieces came frozen with actual ice bits in them, we received an orange juice instead of apple, and the fish was dried out. Note that there is an extreme amount of batter, but that is obviously to personal taste and so even though we didnt like it thats not part of my review, I just wanted to note that for others. The actual chips themselves were great and so we ate those and threw everything else out and later ordered from another restaurant.

Alot for the price, yummy food, quick and excellent service. Only downfall, they had no ketchup for their fries. Will return in the near future !

1st time here...very disappointing! The fish was so greasey there was actually a puddle of grease in the plastic carry out bag and grease was dripping off the fish. I tried draining the fish but ended throwing it out because the greasy taste was overwhelming. The fries were decent and staff friendly. Would not recommend this place After reading reviews it seems that only a select few were offered refunds for bad reviews, most were given excuses and asked disatisfied customers to give them a 2nd chance.

For all the fish lovers, the food here is amazing and for a decent prize. They also offer an amazing authentic east coast Donaire which is very hard to find in this part of the country. Definitely recommend.

The food was extremely delicious!!!. The fish was perfectly made and the chips were freshly cooked and crispy. Also, I was surprised to know that theyve finally bought in their ALL YOU CAN EAT SPECIALS on Saturdays and the owner mentioned about re-introducing the fish and chips meal with an addition of a soup. This is the worst experience I ever had with fish and chips. I came in and ordered a large order and got home only to find the chips Burt and the halibut fish was done horrible it wasnt done right and I was missing a piece of fish as well. I want a full meal credit for next time I come in if I ever decide to come back

Ordered from here twice now. I think they could stand to update their deep fry technique. Food quality seems great but every battered item Ive tried is carrying too much batter and a whole lot of grease. Should really be giving 3 stars but they get a star for the new Halifax style donairs. As a former Haligonian and donair aficionado, these come pretty close. Sauce was on point, meat was properly spiced. One step missed however. Typically when there isnt a good layer of maillard crust on the spit when meat is shaved off, it gets a moment on the flattop. This definitely knocks things up a notch and would have made my donair perfect. Summing up: deep fryer output questionable, new donairs pretty darn good.

I have ordered fish and chips from light house in Brantford for a couple of years and the last few times I have gone I find the portions of halibut have been cut almost in half. I also have asked for the fries to be cooked well and they dont do it. I believe they are under new management and I will not go back there. The portions have gotten way too small for their prices.

I had the donair a while back and it was great, had it again tonight and it was large hunks of meat not nicely cut thin like last time on a soggy pita. First bite bit chewed down on something hard. The fries were also unsalted and soggy. Very expensive for such a disappointing meal.

We ordered for delivery tonight, we used Skip the Dishes app and got our order delivered this way. Have ordered in the past, and was good, but on this occasion, whoever was on the deep fryer-Knew what they were doing! Ordered (1) Large order of Haddock & Chips plus a small coleslaw. The fish batter was excellent, light and golden brown. Most F&C restaurants soak the fish in batter, but this piece we got was very generous and tasted fresh. It was huge and it was literally about 1 think in places. The fries were cooked perfect too (not greasy) the food even arrived hot via Skip . Had coleslaw, found it a little too much mayo for our taste, but everyone s taste is different. Lighthouse F&C s supplied generous amount of condiments also. Going to P/U this Good Friday, hoping the same cook is on tonight. Recommend (Have tried others in Brantford) but this place, so far are reasonable and you receive quality fish & chips IMO.

I ordered the donair, although the meat was full of flavor it was cut into thick chunks (nothing like a traditional east coast donair) The donair was actually sitting in a pool of grease, no word of a line the grease was actually dripping out with every bite. very expensive and very unappetizing, greasy and soggy. First and last time there.

Great place, excited they now have Halifax donairs. Being a Nova Scotia girl it s something I have missed. I would say though the donair meat is a bit salty for me and I like salt. My husband loves the fish and chips but finds a bit greasy. All in all though a great place to eat. Hope owners read this and take comments into consideration. Bon appetite friends

June 11th, 2021, ordered from this place for the first time off skip the dishes. The food that came had a massive hole in the box that looked like an animal chewed upon it. I contacted the restaurant, got no answers for hours, so I posted it publicly on all social media platforms. Noticed I never posted a google review, and they never got back to me, so heres another 1 star. Restaurants that dont hold themselves or the delivery service accountable, are about as useful as a shoe with a hole in the bottom.... wont order again, and Ive advised people in brantford I know too avoid them as well.

Great F&C shop. Been here once for dine in (they dont believe in AC, be warned) and twice now for take away. The young lad on cash does not smile much but seems as friendly and fast as a turtle can go . The deep fried mushrooms are great but unsure why so huge, button would be preferred and slice up the large ones for sauteed mushrooms, Cheers

Bought take out and the fries were soggy because of the way the fish and lemon was piled on top and wrapped in paper. This made them completely inedible. The tartar sauce was in packets and disgusting. The fish was ok however very disappointing for the price of 2 meals. Very expensive to throw away half the meal.

I was surprised that Natasha remembered those church members but also what they had ordered, on there first visit. The food and the portion size was amazing.
