Gus and Guidos in Brantford

I love Italian & Greek so we tried it. No wait, excellent service by Amanda. Shes so sweet, personable and efficient. He ordered the souvlaki platter. Huge! Said it was fantastic. I had the stuffed sole. Again, huge portions, delicious, moist, came quickly. We took food home. The olive tampanade is absolutely amazing! I really wish they jarred it for purchase. This is NOT an expensive restaurant at all. Chef Steve came out & made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended. Will be back.

Was very busy on Christmas eve. Food was fantastic as always but seemed under staffed for the amount of people there. But understandable.

Was half empty and was turned away saying the waitresses are over whelmed. We said we would wait the 45 mins and was told no sorry we are not taking any more customers. With 4 hours left till closing.

Do not go on a cold day unless you want to freeze.

We had a party of 11 last evening for a 70th birthday party. The service was very slow, salads came out with entrees, we had to ask for bread and at no point did the waitress clean away the used dishes! By the end of our meal there were dirty dishes everywhere and we were trying to stack them just to get them out of the way. All the tables that this waitress was responsible for were the same, it was really unbelievable! I m still perplexed.

We werent pleased from the moment we walked in. Should have turned directly around. The place smelled like a musty towel. They sat is in a traffic zone where staff gathered to chat. The quality of food was terrible yet costly. We will never return.

We came in tonight for a nice night out..we were seated in a area that the tables were so close together we could not move or sit in the chair behind the other table. Our table was very sticky so was not wiped off proper. We sat waiting for a server for quite awhile just to be even greeted never mind placing our order. Appatently the tables we were put in the bar tender has to serve those tables also which is crazy. The bar tender was crazy busy and a fellow server saw how long we had been waiting and served us. He was a very freindly guy. He ended up serving us the entire meal. Food was good. Feel a bar tender should not be serving tables also. The people sitting in those seats do not get the service they should

Gus and Guidos used to be one of my favourite restaurants for dinner in Brantford but not anymore. The service, food quality and quantity were terrible. No bread was served to our table, my daughters order was incorrect when it came out. The waiter put the wrong order in and corrected it quickly. When the correct order came out 2 minutes after, the noodles were not cooked and there was no taste to the pasta dish. We recieved a glass of water when we were seated and no refills (no other drinks besides water were order) The chicken breast I recieved was a fair size however 5 potatoe wedges and a small portion of vegtables were the sides. When I came home I needed a drink and something else to eat. Our family will never eat at Gus and Guidos ever again. Very disappointing

Ive been a fan of Gus and Guidos since they opened however the last two experiences Ive had have been terrible and I wont be going back. The quality of the food has deteriorated significantly and despite placing a lunch order an hour ahead of time it still wasnt ready when I went to pick it up. The order was wrong so I called and was told if I came back they would make it right. So I went back and it was wrong the second time. Thats it, Im never going back. So sad, it was such a good place to eat but no more.

We went to this restaurant on a Saturday night, knowing it was likely going to be a long wait. When we talked to the hostess, she said the wait would be one hour. Then the owner, completely disregarding his hostess, said no! people are leaving, it will only be half an hour!. We heard good things about this place, so we decided an hour wait on a Saturday wasnt so bad. We wait almost 2 hours to be seated. Had we known the wait was going to be this long, we would have left. The worst part about the whole experience was that the owner completely disregarded the order in which people showed up to the restaurant, choosing to sit his friends who showed up way after us. At the 1.5 hour mark, after constantly being told we were going to be seated soon, we asked where we were on the list. The hostess said we were next. Turns out, the owner came out again and decided to seat his buddies before us, when we had been waiting 1.5 hours. We were furious, but at this point, there wasnt a point of leaving. Once a table became available, he tried to give the table away AGAIN, but the hostess argued with him. I cant even imagine how frustrated she was. The food was certainly not worth the wait and frustration. It was good, but not worth almost 2 hours of waiting. This was our first time at this restaurant and after what we experienced on Saturday night, there is no way we will ever be coming back. If you want to wait almost 2 hours for decent food, watching your table be given away on multiple occasions, then this is the restaurant for you!

I cannot say anything negative about this experience. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was on point but I must say what made this experience awesome was our server, Kosta. You would have to go yourself to find out what I mean. Keep it up, you just made lifetime customers!!

Went here for my girlfriends birthday party it was very noisy however the food was great the stuff for awesome and the the atmosphere was nice

This is a clean, well presented location that doesnt quite live up to the atmosphere it tries to project. The menu looks great but the actual food is just good to mediocre. It is really just the usual roadhouse style restaurant with inflated prices and pretensions of more than it actually is. Good, not great but still worth a try if in the area.

It was an hour and a half wait for a table for six. They did not take reservations and of course it was a Saturday but the wait was horrible. However once we finally got our table our server (Amanda) was excellent and the food was great.

O.k. so we went to G&G last night. After a horrible wait of about 1 & 1/2 hour wait we were finally seated. Fortunately, our waitress was very good. The food came fairly quick and it was good. I am changing my rating from a one to a 4. I think they need to examine their business plan. We had tried to make reservations but they refused to take them. Still very angry that a group of gagling (loud) women some how were able to reserve. I guess G&G must have a scoring system for customers and we did not score as well! Id go again but not on a Saturday night.

Amazing food

Just had one of the best experiences Ive ever had at a restaurant. Took my gf there for our 9th anniversary and Kosta treated us amazing. Excellent food as well. Highly recommend. This is when you leave a $30 tip on an $80 bill.

Service was excellent, the chef visited our table, lovely person, food was great. Big portions and tasty. The kids menu has a lot of variety and the portions are huge.

Went last year with my husband... He would recommend the steak... I had chicken plate, extremely dry, drink tasted like toilet water was in it... Waitress replaced it with another but still bad... Very pricey for the lack of quality... And they really need to do a thorough cleaning of the ugly carpeting... For the prices, I expected much more... I will not be returning unless I hear about a re - vamp and more attention to the quality.

Music was annoying. Took about an hour and a half for our dinner to arrive. When it did arrive, lets just say it wasnt the greatest. First impression it looked nice second impression was a dissapointment didnt expect my lasagna to be spicy also the garlic toast did not have any garlic flavor. My mother ordered a steak to be well done with no pink meat and it was still pink and difficult to cut. My sister in law ordered a vegetarian pasta dish which had barely any sauce on it. My brothers pizza wasnt too bad but his response was Ive had better. At the end we were very disappointed and I dont think we are going back.

First time for lunch menu. Was seated by quickly amd staff was.very friendly. Decent menu options and prices are fair but on the higher end for lunch. This must be my 5th visit to Gus & Guidos and Ive never had a bad meal. We drive 75 clicks to get here and the food value is well worth the drive.

Good was awful. My supposed Greek potatoes were soggy and saturated in oregano. My Greek salad tasted like sugar and the chicken was rubbery. My husband had pasta that was sitting in a bowl of water. Tasted awful. We wanted beer and nothing was available on tap except for Coors Light. Awful experience. Wont be going back.

I am sooooo disappointed with our experience at Gus and Guidos.last night. We arrived for our reservation for 6 (3 kids and 3 adults) a little early to find it was customer appreciation night YAY!! They had a live music outside and a belly dancer and they even dropped off free chicken wings at the table! I had been before and knew the portions were large and the fiod was good. By adding a Groupn it makes for a very affordable dinner. Our waitress was extremely pleasant. Things started off great but then went off the rails and there was no recovering from it. The kids meals came out along with 2 of the adult meals(minus the garlic bread that never showed up until we were leaving) and it was hot and delicious. While 5 of the 6 people enjoyed their food, I was left to watch them eat. It was 15 minutes before my meal came out (which happened to be the special of the day--lobster tail and filet mignon, and the most expensive meal purchased) and I was not given a steak knife or cutlery for the lobster tail for another 6 minutes. I started to eat the lobster with my fingers and it was cold but I could live with it. When I finally got a steak knife to cut my steak it was cold. I should have known when the veggies and potaotes were cold right away. Anyway, I didnt finish my meal and asked to speak to the manager. I explained the situation and he was quick to tell me 2 people called in sick... Im not sure how that became my problem?? It was customer appreciation and I felt that I was not being heard. I was bot offered any discount on my bill. It was $160 bill before gratuity. I dont believe in punishing the wait staff in a lower tip if theyve done a good job but their managers have dropped the ball. Over all I am extremely disappointed in the way the manager handled the situation... customer appreciation night my ass.

Worst meal Ive ever had along with my family. The spaghetti I had tasted like fish; along with my wife and son who had fedicinii also tasted fishy. Waitress said possibly the chief cook the meal using same spatula which used for cooking shrimp or mussles. Obviously they cooked our meal in same water that they prepared mussles or shrimp in. Ended up going to subway after.

We ended up here after unsuccessfully being able to go to African Lion Safari after arriving late, and waiting in a long line up. The plan had been to simply go here for dinner afterwards using a Groupon I had purchased online. I realized at the last minute, that it was only for dinner, and we arrived during the lunch period. This is definitely what you think of when you want upscale dining, although it is not quite fine dining. Picture a Milestones or Moxies and this would be the equivalent. The place is immaculately clean and well kept up. The service here was great, and they were definitely willing to accommodate. Although it was lunch time, they would have accepted a Groupon that was a dinner for two. The restaurant was quiet so never had to wait long either for our drinks, food, or refills on our glasses of water. The server even said he was the bartender as well, since he had to make our mudslides (a treat on a nice, hot, summer day) Food selection is actually quite small, which is not necessarily a bad thing. They have a separate lunch and dinner menu, with of course the dinner prices being much more expensive. Not sure whether portion sizes are bigger to go along with the prices. It is easier however to choose when there are less selections. Well we both enjoyed our meals, they were nothing to write home about. I got a veal sandwich and having never really experienced veal, found the meat to be rather tough which was not what I had expected, nor is that the way it should be. I will however admit, that the entire cut of meat was not like this only the outer edges. Both my partner and I found the same thing which was that the bun did not hold up to the meat. It simply became soggy, and had to eat it with a knife and fork which for me is not typical. Next time if I were to eat here again, I would order the sandwich without the bun and ask for a side of rice or noodles perhaps if I wanted some carbs to go with it. The flavours and taste of both our meals however were good. Unfortunately I have to say for the quality and portion sizes of the food I find the prices a little overpriced. Even with a lunch Groupon that I needed up purchasing, with a couple of drinks it was over $50. Im not going to say that we wouldnt go back (as I do still have a dinner coupon to use) however the establishment is not for your average consumer. It would however likely not be my first choice for upper scale food. Hence my overall rating of this establishment is a little lower then it might have been originally.

Poor. Table was sticky, seating torn and shabby. Had to ask server twice to wipe table which she did - barely A beer and cocktail ordered, didnt come together. Eventually food order taken. I shared appetizer 2steak entrees. The entrees arrived before appetizer. So we duly informed server we had ordered appetizer and she. Asked which one. We told her we no longer wanted the appetizer as our entrees had arrived. A couple minutes later our appetizers arrived -to be sent back. The roast potatoes were hard. The steak fine, not special. I decided on dessert, husband declined. Our dessert was served, without our entree dishes being cleared.. Not a place we would rush back too as it was our anniversary and a let down -

Ive been to Gus and Guidos a few times and always enjoyed the food. Last night my husband and I went out for dinner here and were disappointed. My steak was not how I ordered it and my husband could only taste the burned steak. But what really upset me was I came there with a groupon i paid for online and was told by our server that they stopped taking groupons yesterday. My particular groupon expired on Nov 24!! I asked to speak to the manager because that is just not right. I will not be lured into his restaurant by purchasing a groupon ( which i paid 23.00 for 40.00 worth of food) and told it wont be honoured even though it doesnt expire for 5 weeks! He didnt come out. Instead, he sent the server with a message that he would honour it this time only. Like he was doing ME a favour. Because of this treatment, I will never come back. Very dissapointed. Instead of enjoying my time there, I left angry amd shaking my head. I will spend my money elsewhere from now on. There are plenty of great restaurants on King George rd. Zanders is amazing. Go there instead. They appreciate their customers and strive to make their experience a good one...and food is plentiful and very very tasty! I only went to gus and guidos because i had the groupon. Now i have zero reason to ever go there again.

Is there an option for no star? We use to come here at least twice or more a month and the service was awesome. Came in now with not a single familiar face was told old team left with the last few times being here total disappointment. Really shows how terrible the management is when you can t even have employees stick around let alone returning customers. Our server had no idea what she was doing. Left dirty plates throughout each course of our meal. Unpleasant atmosphere and annoying music. The restaurant needs a serious update as furniture is falling apart. Once our food arrived the so called chicken souvlaki was burnt and pink on the inside. Greek potatoes , over seasoned and dry as if they were old. The bread use to be amazing here one of our favourites, now it s a loaf of wonder bread and whole wheat. Can I say yuck? and turn off right at the start. Zero acknowledgement from management team and no customer appreciation going on here for my unpleasant meal. Doesn t care if we return or not, or if we are merely satisfied while there!!! Just says what s going on behind closed doors hence the turn around in faces.

Restaurant insists upon itself and comes across as being started by an Italian and a Greek. Meanwhile the owner was born in Toronto and has never been to Italy or Greece in his life so this reflects in the authenticity of the dishes. For example, they have Greek Style Lamb Chops Riganato which they advertise as marinated in greek herbs charbroiled to perfection. First of all, what about your herbs makes them Greek? Second and most importantly, Arni Riganato is braised lamb chops in olive oil, garlic and lemon. Charbroiled? OK then. Also, which part of Italy are Montreal Style Ribs from?

My favorite spot in town! Fantastic variety. Every dish prepared like you had your own personal chef. The staff is friendly and our meals always come within a good time and error free.

Went there last night with 6 other people. Drinks came for first 2 people then 10 minutes later the next 2 and so on. Twice during dinner waiters came with meals that were not ours. When food came it was around the same as the drinks. Some were finishing eating while one of us was still waiting for food. Food wasn t very warm. Garlic bread hard as a rock. Food had to be send back. This use to be a excellent restaurant that was packed and with entertainment. It was half empty and a covered organ this night. Do yourself a favour and don t go. Worse experience I ever had.

Went for dinner last night. Called to make a reservation and was told they dont take reservations and that the wait wouldnt have been long. Got there at 7pm waited 15 mins before we were seated at out table. Waited an additional 20 mins before our server came to the table to even offer us some water or a drink. 8pm our server finally took our order. Waited 45 mins for our food to come which had the wrong sides and forgot part of our order. We didnt see our server for the rest of the night. Didnt ask us if we wanted another drink or dessert or if our food was ok. The manager did tell us they were short staffed but did nothing to compensate us for the terrible service. At the end of our meal another server threw the bill at me and said here is your bill, do you need the machine. Again didnt ask us if our meal was ok as the plates were still on the table. I definitely wont be back as this was the worst service I havr ever had at any restaurant in my life.

If I could choose no star, I would!! Horrible experience, wait staff are not at all knowledgeable. Would rather have stayed home and ordered a pizza! It is very rare that I would write to an establishment for poor customer service, but our experience is definitely worth the time to write. A reservation was made approximately 3-4 weeks ago for a large group (late November, 2017). A group of 21 to celebrate an 80th birthday. Upon arrival, the tables in the back room were not organized, they were not set i.e. not all place setting has glasses, cutlery or serviettes. We had to ask for a server to bring menus and to take drink orders. Once meal orders were taken, 5 individuals did not receive their dinner until other guests were long done their dinner. We had to prompt the server on the timing of the lost meals, it was evident these orders were not placed. The tone of the server when asking where the missing meals were was disrespectful. Some dinners came out incorrect. We had to request water replenishment, and the dishes were not cleared away, in fact, we had to pile them on a table behind us. Coffee or tea was not offered during dessert. Overall, a terrible experience for a momentous occasion.

Myself and 5 other friends went out for dinner on Sat. night at Gus & Guidos and I have to say it was the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. Our reservation was for 7 P.M. and we were seated in an area where there was a private party and you wouldnt be able to fit a flea between the table where we were so we asked for a different area. We had to wait for another table to be available. We were finally seated and at 8:30 we were being served our drinks. I ordered Fettachini with Chic., one of my friends ordered Salmon, My meal was very dry and it didnt look like there was any sauce on it and I ordered ceasar salad which didnt have any ceasar sauce but some kind of oil dressing, which I didnt eat. My friends salmon wasnt cooked properly and came out with a piece of salmon and a half lemon on top, nothing else. She asked if there was suppose to be some sort of pasta or anything else with it and the waitress had to go back to the kitchen to get it. My other friend ordered a house salad and they came out with a greek salad which was wilted, she didnt eat her salad either. We finally got out of there after 10 P.M. very disappointed with the survice we received there. And I can say that neither of the 6 of us will ever go back there again. The whole time we were there I had to keep my coat on, it was so cold in there. The heat was finally turned on about half an hour before we left. Never again.

Awful experience!!! They changed their menu, smaller portions but a lot more money. Their usual Shrimp linguini with rose sauce used to $12 including tax, it is now less than half the portion for $21.23 including tax....what a rip off!!! Not to mention the attitude, no interest whatsoever to customer service, too busy to deal with the customer, splitting the bill resulted in huff....quite rude!!! They have not only loss this customer but an entire group of other usual patrons who frequent their restaurant. I wonder how they are still in business with such poor service.

Love this place and recommend if two couples go to order a meat platter and the seafood platter and ask for rice and veggies it one of them. Its a ton of food and really good. Great staff and atmosphere.

This is a favourite restraraunt for both my husband and myself. We are never disappointed with the food. Its always hot, flavourful and delicious! We almost always have leftovers to take home as the portions are so generous. Its almost impossible to leave Gus and Guidos hungry! The owner is also a genuinely lovely guy! Always chatting with the guests. Love this place!

Lamb was delicious and perfectly grilled Steak was also perfect, great seasoning, great portions. Lots of grilled vegetables. Would recommend it for special occasions and others.

I order the spaghetti with meatballs and the meat was still cold and raw inside hello.....and after I return that they didnt even offer me any free stuff.

Its simply the heart and soul of chef Steve Psaroudis! All though ownership has since changed hands, the same great staff and menu remain which make for an amazing fine dining experience. I would recommend Gus and Guidos to all!

We had and evening meal at Gus and Guidos. Food was excellent and portions were large. Service was a bit slow, but friendly. Restaurant seating was comfortable and atmosphere was nice.

Attended this restaurant evening of Sept 15. Overall service was not bad, very pleasant waitress, but the food was absolutely horrid. Would not revisit this restaurant, too many other options.

Service was attentive and friendly and great recommendations. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share and our server recommended the sagonaki, which was so good. We ordered escargot and found a few that were quite gritty. The peppers and onions overpowered the escargot. The calamari was tender and a huge! portion...one of the best calamari dishes Ive had. The souvlaki, Greek salad, potatoes and rice were delicious and rank among the best Ive had. We will definitely return...didnt get to try any Italian dishes. Our server went above and beyond and even insisted on removing the escargot from our bill. Definitely worth the drive and if you go...have the sagonaki!!! You wont be disappointed.

This restaurant aims to please I ask for mushrooms in my pasta era Biada and another time I asked if I could get a small Greek salad instead of the roasted vegetables this was no problem either The staff is friendly and attentive on a business trip I had third several times in one week I had an excellent experience every time

After we were seated, they left my father and I waiting for no less than a half hour. No water, no appetizers, no service. Other tables around us were being served. Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.

Ordered prime rib. Recieved a grilled stirloin. Steak was also over cooked. My girl friends steak was right but was under cooked. Half of our veggies were burnt and half were raw. Not worth the money. If youre going to charge so much for you entres you should provide your customers a salad bar. Not worth my money or time. This company can afford to do better. My date and I even came at a earlier time and yet this was our experience.

This place is dated. The service was good, but nothing outstanding. The food is bland Caesar salad was boring. The food was acceptable, but not worth the price you pay. I think this restaurant is successful because of the lack of choices in Brantford, not because it is anything special. Sorry, Freindly place, but simply not worth the price you pay!
