This place is too expensive and does not serve good food; bad quality & quantity. Please choose other restaurants in Brantford for Indian/South Indian food. NOT worth the hype. I am disappointed with their food and customer service, as they were rude and did not accept their bad service. Recently, I did a take-out order - chicken roast and a fish curry, the total cost was $35 with taxes. The chicken roast had just 3-4 pieces full of bones, chicken was rubbery, and fish curry had just 2-3 pieces. When I called up the restaurant to verify the order, they denied for the bad quality and quantity. They just fill the box with bone pieces and a lot of gravy. For the same price, in other Indian restaurants, you get boneless meat, more quantity and good quality of food. I cook food myself, so I am aware of the dishes and the quality.
Great food and service, the building is pretty minimal and old, but it has nothing to do with the quality of food. Highly recommended.
Loved it. Would have been 5 stars but found the beef fatty an a lot of bone in the duck. If that was fixed it would be perfection! 🥰
I recently tried the chicken biriyani from Southern Delight, and it was amazing! I don't eat out often, but I decided to give this a try. The biriyani was packed on a banana leaf, which made it feel very authentic. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, and the chicken was tender and delicious. The portion size was generous too. Overall, I loved the taste and would highly recommend Southern Delight for anyone wanting great biriyani. ---
My knowledge of southern Indian food is lacking (pretty much just Dosa that I used to get living in Toronto), but I love trying new foods. My impression is that it has less cream than the other (northern?) types that are more numerous, which can give me tummy aches. Got that Masala Dosa, which was amazing! So tasty and was a good size. What even is that delicious curry sauce on the side?? Would leave off that coconut condiment though next time. Was really hungry while waiting so had an ‘egg puff’. Its a half boiled egg cooked with some kind of delicious savoury curry/sauce wrapped in flakey pastry - very good snack, would’ve liked a bit more of the delicious sauce in it. Then I decided to try the king fish curry (forgot the name). First impression is that it was a bit oily at the top, but when I scooped it, it had nice big chunks of fish. That flavour profile is different than the other more common Indian curries in that it has a bit of smokey savoury tartness to it, had lots of ginger flavour too. I loved it but would only recommend to people with a more exotic palette. The prices seem to be fair for the food as they’re on par with other places and the flavours are really great. Can’t wait to try the other dishes!
People see for yourself how watery is the so called beef curry. The aunty at the counter was so eager to keep pouring the gravy instead of the beef. Even though we pointed out that there is only gravy in the so called beef curry while she was packing the food, she said this is their standard quantity. The lady is the owner of the store and has no idea about customer service nor satisfaction. For almost $13 this is a ripoff. Edit: We asked for a small sample and the girl who was at the front went inside to ask permission about it. The owner (I’m assuming) came outside with full of disappointment and started to offer the watery gravy to us. Seeing her grumpy face and disrespectfulness we told her that no need to put any pieces of beef, as the lady looked very upset for offering a piece of beef. The proportion of the beef is still questionable. Although we were hesitant to buy it (seeing the attitude of the lady and how eager she was to keep pouring the watery gravy) out of courtesy we bought it as we already placed the order and it was our first time at this place. Talking about “ungracious” we communicated our disappointment and dissatisfaction while she kept pouring the watery gravy and she was very arrogant towards us for pointing it out to her.
We ordered a take out for 2 chicken biryani (Chef special) last Saturday. Portion size was good. To be honest, this was one of the worst biryani I have had till date. The chicken was tough and felt like rubbery. The gravy was very little. The rice was dry and flavorless. I would definitely avoid buying biryani again from here based on this experience. Even if the quantity was large for that money, we had to waste it. The packaging was not good and the container started to turn flimsy after 20 mins. Note: Not sure why it was named "Chef Special Chicken Biryani". Also the reviews given by other customers for briyani is really amusing..
Was really excited to visit Brantford's very own malayali shop. They have got a variety of "thani naadan" items. Tried their beef coconut dry fry, pork fry, kappa, paal appam, pazham pori, parippuvada. The beef fry was super delicious. They should have included Kerala porotta in their menu. Pork fry and palappam were also good. Kappa needed improvement though. The snacks were also good. They are providing exciting offers for selected items. They have got a variety of Kerala spices and groceries also. Great customer service provided, and impressed with the quick service. PS: they have got naadan ethappazham, too 😁 Looking forward to having more take-aways from them.

Ordered a pomfret fish now sat 05 oct 5.45pm, the attendant persuaded 3 times to buy king fish and i bought confirming it would be fresh one .Once i ate I found the fish was burnt and tasted bitter.Cheap tactics!!! Even doubt if this was king fish !!! Tasted and looked like TUNA
Very bad experience..... they failed to provide the customer service ..... rating low..... The girl at the front (Meekha) (not the one who took our order, the other girl who came after ordering)was disrespectful. Will never recommend to anyone...

I got Uber eats from here for pothichoru ,dosa, masala dosa and meen porichathu. Genuinely happy with the food as I am content both in mind and body. It had been a long time since I ate something that reminded me of home. Please keep up this great service and quality food. Best wishes and prayers.

It was really good to have atleast one Kerala style restaurant in Brantford. Almost all dishes like beef fry, fish curry , velleppam was perfect and delicious, but , another main dish biryani was not that much good upto the expectation, quantity wise it was good but tastewise , its a negative.It still lack the authentic taste of kerala biryani.....which is nowhere to be found in most restaurants in Canada. So, It will be better if you guys give more attention to Biryani.....because there are no other kerala restaurants in Brantford....I hope it will get better. Update = Chicken Biryani is now top notch , can now say the most authentic kerala style chicken biryani available in Canada , pork fry is also perfect but is little bit higher on the spicyness side, Both fish curry is good. Suggestions- It will be good if chilli chicken is made using boneless chicken so that it will be value for money , Another one is regarding chicken roast-taste wise chicken roast needs an immediate improvement.

Ive sampled their food a few times. The Biriyanis lack authenticity, being more average. While the snacks are tasty, the quantity, especially for fried snacks like Vada, banana fritters and Baji, is ridiculously small compared to the price charged. I would rate the chicken puffs as zero. However, their Porota and beef were excellent. The customer service is friendly. have sufficient car parking.

It was opening day yesterday and we visited with great expectations.. yes food was good but quantity is too less for such higher price compared to other Kerala stores in Cambridge and Mississauga. My bad review is for the service.. we ordered pork fry, beef curry banana fritters combo and tapioca fish curry combo.. we asked twice to the guy serving if all is there in the cover believing him we dint check but after reaching home pork fry was missing.. we tried calling the restaurant but no one picked up and we had to travel back to the restaurant to get the missed item.. you gave us a bad experience on your opening day.. Will go all the way to Cambridge but not here.. sorry guys a bad impression created from the service team

Im not a review person but I dont mind writing this,these guys really deserve it. So its gonna be my third year in Brantford, tired of traveling outside town for anything that can be called authentic mallu food, but now these guys are open to serve, Im so excited that I ordered 3 times in 2 days, and I must say these guys got the gift of serving delicious and authentic Kerala food with great customer service. The people are so welcoming there, the quality and quantity they are providing for the price is top value. I normally spend around $400 per month on groceries only for myself and waste my time and effort to cook and do dishes. For people like me on a busy schedule you guys are really helpful. Congrats guys you got a daily customer and definitely recommend this to others in my circle. For other stores, if you guys are reading this, try to be authentic towards what youre providing, places say south Indian and end up in-between South India and North India, lol

Much awaited kerala food finally at Brantford. Very high quality . We ordered ghee rice and chicken fry combo . The ghee rice was really soft and tasty .Chicken fry was also prefect. Must say finally got hot crispy banana fritters in canada . Just tasted like homemade food. Thank you for starting this new venture .
Its a South Indian Take out restaurant with few options for groceries. Their Food mostly taste like home cooked and you get good quantity (I had Chicken Briyani). Their Banana fry was also superb. With a welcoming and pleasant staff, you will be well taken care of. Overall a good place to satisfy your craving for Kerala Cuisines in Brantford.

Wow. That s all I got to say about the food. I consider myself a critic of Indian food. Mutton curry and chicken biryani. Both were extremely well cooked and had an amazing authentic South Indian taste to them. Good job chef Saiju. Will see you again. I am honestly bowled out with the flavour.
The restaurant offers the best chicken biriyani in town. The flavors are rich and the spices are perfectly balanced. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring that you leave satisfied.
Bought ediappam and chicken stew combo, the worst chicken stew i ever had. I feel like the chicken is not properly washed and cleaned as there was still blood in the bones. Really disappointed. At least the Ediappam was good.

Been there today on June 21st 2023. Food was scrumptious and quantity was also beyond expectations. Very good customer support and very welcoming owners. If you want to try authentic Kerala/Malabar/South Indian this is the first place to try within Brantford area. We ordered Pazhampori (Banana fritters), Mutton Curry, Puttu (Steamed rice cakes), Kerala style Chicken Biriyani (it was like Thalassery Dum Biriyani where Jeerakasala rice is used). We were 5 people and food was sufficient for all of us. Price seems reasonable for what they offered. I hope price will remain same for a longer time. For me, this place added to list of eateries where i target to visit monthly minimum once or twice (or even more).

Now I had been to this restaurant for few times, I will say that we have got a good south Indian take out restaurant in Brantford Tried - Chicken Biriyani, Chicken curry, and Fish coconut curry. Chicken Biriyani on the opening weekend - which was not a pleasant experience. Chicken Biriyani a week back - was a complete surprise and it tasted wonderful. Chicken Curry - was really good (a bit spicy) Fish Coconut Curry - aromatic and tasted awesome I would also recommend buying the frozen Parottas here and they will go well with their curries. A couple of friends rated their Chicken Roast as well. Thumbs up for their constant improvement, variety and customer-friendly service.

Authentic and tasty Kerala food at a reasonable rate. The portion sizes are huge. Kappa (cassava) and fish curry was super; Pazham pori and beef cutlet was so tasty. The store looks very clean and we can experience the heavenly aroma of homely Kerala food in the air when we gets in to its parking lot. We ordered food from Southern Delights for our community picnic for almost 200 people and the food (kappa, chicken roast, fish mulakittathu, puttu, idiyappam, kadala curry) everything was super tasty and sold out in few hours. I would definitely recommend Southern Delights for those looking for some tasty and homely Kerala food. Vegetarian options: Kadala Curry and Puttu - Heavenly

I visited Southern Delights few days ago and the masala dosa that i bought was highly delicious. Apart from different varieties of dosa, they have many varieties of south indian and kerala food. I highly recommend Southern Delights to anyone who is looking for an authentic South indian food.

Poor Mutton Biryani I purchased the mutton biryani for $17, and it was the worst biryani Ive ever tasted! Frankly, it didnt even feel like biryani at all. Instead of goat meat, it had tough and chewy lamb meat, just three chunky pieces that I struggled to chew and couldnt even swallow properly. The rice was utterly flavorless and loaded with only raisins. It was so disappointing that I had to mix it with my homemade gravy and, even then, my gravy dominated the entire dish. I noticed another review expressing a similar experience, and I naively hoped there would be a change, but it was a huge letdown! The quality of this food needs serious improvement. I urge the restaurant to take customers feedback seriously and make substantial efforts to enhance the quality of their dishes. This experience has left me thoroughly dissatisfied, and I hope they take immediate action to rectify these issues.

Ordered a masala dosa - a crepe stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes (NOT chilli pepper hot) The dosa came with: Green coconut chutney - grated coconut dipping sauce (Also NOT chilli pepper hot) Sambar - vegetable and lentil curry (NOT chilli pepper hot) A flavourful vegetarian lunch! Going to need to make my way through the vegetarian and meat menu items!
Pothichoru was really good. Being the one and only kerala restaurant in Brantford it s a blessing for all the malayalis. However, the pricing is a bit on the higher side for a takeout restaurant and the quantity is very small compared to other restaurants.

I would say this is one of the best restaurants in brantford. They have really a good Kerala food menus. Specially, I have tried Kerala parotta, masala uthappam, all kind of dosas and koththu parotta, and they are extraordinary. I really recommend everyone to try it. Overall, their services are good.
Southern Delights has truly won my taste buds over especially when your far away from your home country and miss all your favorite dishes...The BIRYANI is a flavorful masterpiece, KALAPPAM here takes you back to your moms special breakfast, and the must try or go to item will be the chef special BEEF COCONUT DRY FRY. My favorite snack will be BANANA FRY with all its sweetness and crispness. A very much go to place for all Indians especially people from kerala and if your in Brantford dont miss this spot.
