Welcome to the Olde School Restaurant.
Very nice place. Service was quick, drinks were delicious, and the steaks were perfectly cooked. I don't remember the name but I ordered the flaming cheese thing, very good. Fresh onion soup was solid too. Next time I am in the area I would come back for sure.
We went here for our anniversary dinner and we will definitely be making it a tradition from now on. They are great at making you feel special. We had hosts, waiters, and the bartender tell us happy anniversary! The food was excellent, we both had the prime rib and it was perfectly done! Some of the best prime rib we have had in a very long time! The complimentary dessert was truly amazing and was the perfect pairing with a cappuccino.
Have been to this restaurant many a time over the years and usually the food is good. Unfortunately last night was not. Appetizers were fine and the service good. My wife ordered the shrimp and scallops medley, the shrimp was tough and over cooked, and the adductor muscle was not taken off the scallops . They did send out six different ones after pointing the error. My lamb came out as ordered, medium rare and tasty. My brother in law's was not the case, he ordered the lamb medium and it came out rare. Desert, the key lime was not very good and was served covered in strawberry sauce, but the little chocolate mousse mouse pretty good. Will probably go back again in the future, but last night was a bit hit and miss.
One of the best restaurants that I had the privilege of visiting. We make a point to go here for all special occasions. The food is amazing and the owner Gus is extremely friendly and he treats everyone with such respect. If you enjoy fine dining without leaving your wallet empty then you will love this place. Truly is one of the best restaurants it our family’s favourite place to enjoy a wonderful meal with an intimate atmosphere.
Beautiful restaurant, feels homey, and the food and service was fantastic. They had a singing pianist, which made the atmosphere there even more enjoyable.. I ordered the junior prime rib, was so delicious and cooked to perfection. Will definitely eat here again.. A report card came with the bill, which was a nice touch. Giving us the opportunity to rate our visit. No bad review whatsoever. The Olde School restaurant is excellent.
My husband and I got married here recently and everything was perfect. The staff are so friendly, kind, and just excellent at their jobs. One of our waiters made sure to learn my young niece's name and helped her pick something off the kids menu. They were super attentive, just all around great. All of our guests keep raving about their food, saying how delicious and fresh it was. A bunch of them want me to see if I can get the recipe for the salmon bisque we were served. My husband and I both got the prime rib and it was so tender and flavorful. Everyone had only positive things to say about the food. The owner, Gus, was a pleasure to work with. He helped us set up getting married in the small service chapel he has in the basement and pointed us in the direction of vendors he recommended. The chapel was also beautiful for our small wedding. We absolutely recommend The Olde School Restaurant for a wedding, and even just dinner. I'm so glad we went with this venue!
One of many visits to celebrate special occasions over the years Today was a birthday 🎂 celebration. As always food delicious. We had lamb and chicken cordon Bleu. Onion soup Salad. Fresh baked bread and chocolate Schoolhouse mouse for dessert. Highly recommend
Amazing experience. The service was top notch (Lenny went over and above giving us a tour and history of the school house). The food was first rate. Restaurants with food and service like this are a thing of the past. If you are travelling or live in the SW Ontario, stop in. Nostalgic atmosphere is one of a kind.
Excellent service Excellent food Thank you Gus and Juan Food : 5/5
A fine place for elegant dining. Wonderful atmosphere and great courteous service. Highly recommended.
Great food, friendly staff
Great food friendly staff
Came here for lunch with my daughter. Ny strip steak was superb. Great service! Definitely be back!
Attended a company retiree luncheon. Food and service were excellent. Food
Great place to relax and enjoy a meal
First time there with friends. Fine dining.
Delicious food, served quickly and in an attractive manner. Attentive and pleasant service with a focus on customer satisfaction. Lovely building that has been nicely renovated. Happy to go back. Wheelchair accessibility: Front door is not accessible but there is an elevator from the parking lot into the dining area. There is an accessible bathroom.
Great food, great bread, gread butters. RED wine should have been served in larger red wine glasses, larger glasses would have been best. Very old school. My favorite taste that night was a cheese dish. So good i might have eaten the whole thing myself but it was actually my nephew Bradys order so I just had a little peice. It was deep fried cheese and i was like... oh my god... I am in heaven , if only I had ordered that.
Clean. Steak overdone.
First time here. Beautiful restaurant! Food was delicious, service great! Thank you! Will be back!
Awesome place
The food was excellent but it is time for an updated decor. It is dark and aged. I was also disappointed that the price online is cheaper by 5$ per person and was not honoured. Change the website or honour your advertised price. That being said I may return as the food was excellent.
Great atmosphere, Great food, and a Great Hostess Melanie.
Delicious food. Great atmosphere
Very delicious food and wonderful service.
5/5! my fiance and I wanted to try it on a limb cause the keg was so packed and im so glad we did! Second time here and the service was just as fantastic as the first time! The staff are so friendly, service is always fantastic, and the FOOD! It is DELICIOUS! Im a very picky eater but decided to give venison a try because it sounded good and boy am I glad I did! For the service and presentation of food youd think it would be more expensive, but im glad its not. This is our go to spot now!
Love the food and ambiance.
An incredible atmosphere, the food was incredible. A place for special occasions, booked a room for a private party. Outstanding service. Cant wait to try their Sunday brunch. Wheelchair accessibility: Their is an elevator to the second floor and other floors
Great food, awesome service, quaint feel. Really recommend this spot
Expert service. Good cocktails and coffee. Prime rib well done and rare was good. Pickers was so-so. Lemon chicken breast was good. Food : 3/5 |
Found whoever took our reservation to be very rude and discourteous, service was basically good with being on the slow side to take our order, meal was excellent but on the pricey side, but would not do a slight menu adjustment on a $50.00 entree, overall good meal but unpleasant experience with owner and waitress
Had a wonderful birthday dinner! Inviting atmosphere and fabulous attentive service for reasonable prices. Thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Will be back for the piano entertainment.
We ve been here a few times over the years. We ve always had pretty good service and meals, aside from the price of everything. About 6 months ago we decided to dine here again, we ordered calamari which came out burnt, oyster Rockefeller that came out cold and I was served an extremely dry lobster tail that was so unappetizing that I couldn t even finish it. I m not one to say anything so I decided not too and just brushed it off as an off night. Fast forward to last night, we decided to give it another chance. We had good drinks, apps came out great and then I got served a raw lobster tail dinner, that was $70. Our waiter was very concerned with how raw my lobster tail was, took it to the back to notify the chef. He came back and told me people do ask for undercooked lobster (I think absolutely not but ok?) but I most certainly did not! They offered me a free dessert or drink but I had zero interest in anything further after eating raw lobster and noticing shortly after. I ve been hospitalized from seafood poisoning 3 different times in the past from shellfish and this should not have been taken near as lightly as it was, and there was also absolutely nothing taken off our bill (my lobster dinner being $70 and the total bill being $230). We will never ever be back. You DO NOT SERVE RAW LOBSTER!!!!
Gosh I love it here. I ve been going here for at least 10 years and never once have I experienced bad service. Food is always delicious and hot. If they have it, I would recommend the pancakes and the Mac and cheese!! Kid-friendliness: Servers are very kind with the kids, lots of kid friendly options to eat Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator as well as amazing accommodations
Prime rib its always great...
The waiter was gruff, no personality, no nothing Food was luke warm Too bad we didn t have the other waiter, she was friendly and chatted with her table Food : 3/5
What a great place to dine. My new go to restaurant when in Brantford. First class service, amazing food, wonderful ambience, and even reasonable prices. They dont make restaurants like this anymore
The service by Melanie was terrible to the point I wont go back. She was the rudest person I have ever encountered by a waitress. I told the owner Gus so hopefully he will fire her. She will put that man out of business because people will go elsewhere. Its sad she doesnt realize its the customers that allow her to have a job and get paid. She ruined my dinner with my husband with her terrible cold service. We ordered dessert and she gave us a weird cut which was not even a slice. I mentioned it to Gus the owner and he said she is a good one, he should reevaluate that because shes just pushing customers out. Out of all the visits this was the worst in history!
Food is amazing, the service is outstanding and the atmosphere is perfect. The inside of this restaurant is unique and has a lot of history.
The decor was nice. Washrooms is like a labyrinth and the smell of bleach choke me out of there along with needing very much TLC. Food was lousy well overdone till shoe leather. Sausages must have been from the cheapest food wholesaler!!! AND rushed my mother, told her she doesnt have much time for it (dessert) However we still had an hour left.
This is a super cute restaurant - olde school atmoshpere in beautiful building. Real candles, great food!
Amazing experience
The service is always spectacular, same as the atmosphere, tons of history, everywhere you look... but honestly, for someone who doesnt eat seafood, not many apps without seafood. Lots of seafood on the menu, but like a lot of other people seafood is not appetizing... like in the future, unless Im going in with a party, I dont think Id come here to dine with my partner, there is limited menu items without seafood. Now do not get me wrong, they have great food, but for someone like me, I had to really settle for a vegetarian pasta because of the lack of non-seafood options. Its more like a couple steak options and a couple pasta options... Everyone I went with had a great time, zero complaints, all food was amazing (put it this way, even though i settle for veggie pasta, there was no veggy pasta left on my plate when I was finished). Service, nothing compares to it... atmosphere really nice and historic... almost forgot, their house dressing, as the greta ric flair once said... WOOO!
Havent been in a long time. Still amazing food and impeccable service. Thank you.
Cool and very unique location for dinner, the owner is very proud our late queen visited and eat at this location. If you re looking. For some fantastic and delicious food, service by friendly and outstanding staff, served in a very rustic location this is your place.
Last night we celebrated our daughter and.new.son in laws wedding reception dinner at the old school house. If you have never been there its an old converted school house as noted in its name but it is unique and charming. Gus and his team were exceptional. We were a party of 18 and had previously discussed hors doerves and drinks before dinner which were served right on time and were excellent. Shortly after we moved into a private room. Which was set up beautifully. Although it was a small event the main waiter that was looking after us (Lenny) treated like a larger wedding wherein he made sure that the bride and groom got first attention on everything. As far as the quality of food it was fantastic. Everything was prepared to perfection. All friends and family that attended were happy content and well looked after. A special thank you to Gus and Lenny. Because of you both our daughter and son in law had the wedding that they will remember forever.
Went to celebrate a birthday. The service was excellent, and dinner was exceptional.. Will be returning Food
Very disappointing. My prime rib was tougher than leather, potatoes and vegetables were cold and the server wasn t interested whatsoever. The place was next to empty and offered no atmosphere at all. I wouldn t go back.
Excellent perch dinner, could do better on the dessert options. Vegetarian options: All their dishes start as vegetables. Their are add meat options. Dietary restrictions: Easy a la cart options to manage diet Parking: Never seen the lot totally full so there is always space. The lot is set up in such a way that no matter where you park, you dont have a long walk. Kid-friendliness: High chairs
Our Stricklands Brantford GM team went out last night for dinner and we all where amaze of the attention, care and quality of food that we experience at the Olde School Restaurant, truly exceptional! Thank you Gus and the team for all that you do!
We got there and it was nothing but A1 service from the start, awesome atmosphere and the dinner was great. The raw oysters were amazing! Best restaurant ever!
Exquisite Experience !
Friendly staff. Had the brunch x2. Very cozy restaurant. Bathrooms are wayy downstairs. Dietary restrictions: Wish there was non-dairy milk (almond milk) for my coffee.
New Years Eve was fabulous!!! Loved the music. The food was so good, service excellent.
Amazing service in a very stately restaurant.
Everything from top to bottom was excellent. Our taxi was going to be 25 minutes to pick us up (we were a group of 5 ), so the owner of the restaurant bought us a round of drinks while we waited. The food is the best around. Bacon wrapped scallops cooked to perfection. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Excellent service. We had a perfect Christmas eve.
The 5 star restaurant was incredible. The prime rib was delicious, the French Onion soup was incredible and the dessert was delightful. The service was beyond reproach and I will be back again for my 10th wedding anniversary this year. // Updated // So upon returning to the Restaurant I was greeted with the same friendly welcome as before. This time around we ordered the Crepelle to start before my wife enjoyed the bacon wrapped filet minion and I ordered the liver and onions. All meals were exceptional. Finished it off with a sensational tiramisu. I also enjoyed the Pinot Noir.
Had the fish of the day, a delicious pickerel. Great atmosphere, nice piano music in the background, good service
First time there and the place was very nice. Food was excellent and good sized portions
Always a wonderful time. Customer service above and beyond! Dietary restrictions: Just let your server know. Food : 5/5 |
Saganaki was a good appetizer. The filet mignon was not tender at all, ordered medium rare. Should have cut like butter but was very tough. My spouses peppercorn steak was good, dessert selection was good, we share cherries jubilee. Overpriced based on the quality. The highlight was the pianist.
I was born and raised in BTown and this iconic restaurant is a part of my consciousness. Took Mom there today for a birthday lunch. I have celiac and the staff was accommodating, ensuring safety with gluten contamination. The ambience and options had a classic flare and were deliciously prepared with well-practised technique. I asked and the chef was Terry. The scallops melted in my mouth. Their wrap of bacon was perfectly crispy. The main was just as succulent. Lenny, our server, was efficient and entertaining. The owner greeted, seated and bartended for us with class. Yum
The potato and vegetables sit in flavoured water to reheat literally for hours before you actually eat them. Oh btw its 2022 the chefs lol shouldnt smoke cigarettes on the service line while cooking.
It was mediocre. For the price, we certainly werent wowed by the food. The service was a little slow as well. We had higher expectations.
This our 8th consecutive Valentines Day at this awesome establishment. Fantastic food, wonderful staff and great live music make this our exclusive upper crust getaway. A gem in our backyard. Check it out soon!
Amazing food and service.
Had dinner in the Principals room. Lovely pianist/soloist. Quite spot very homey. Dinner options were great, food was well made and very tasty. Servers were not very engaging, and dry.
A very special and delicious experience!
Great place, great food and great staff
Dietary restrictions: They were able to easily accommodate gluten and dairy dietary restrictions. Food
Favourite fancy place to eat in the GTA. The experience, aesthetic, and feeling you get here is so unique, I hope they never close this gem Service is incredible :) Our family loves to come here for special occasions:)
Had a birthday meal here, couldnt get any better! Great service by Nick with excellent food!
Nice spot and thought it would be a nice place to gather with our family who were in town for a wedding. We were there for a brunch buffet. We were shocked that they included a tip on the buffet bills when we actually served ourselves. Hoity toity.
Special place to go for a special occasion.
It shows open on google but they said it s closed.
No bacon?
Amazing food, ambiance and service. Shannon was beyond Wonderful. Highly recommend The Olde School. Yes, it s pricey but hey, you only live once and it is truly worth it. As for all the negative comments from all the Karen s go to McDonalds. It sounds like it would be more to your liking.
Such a beautiful restaurant, you ll feel like you ve been transported back in time! The most excellent staff you ll ever experience. Food is incredible, the decor, beautiful, you re always made to feel very welcome. This is our going out for a very special dinner restaurant. Recently attended a surprise birthday party for a dear friend. They have a nice little room in the back for 12, with our own private washroom, and a small room where we put the gifts. I will tell you, we we were boisterous, but since we were separate from everyone else, no one was bothered and we had the time of our lives! Let them take good care of you! And, enjoy a delicious meal.
This is a restaurant that clearly tries to punch far above its calibre. My wife and I frequent fine dining restaurants in Toronto and Oakville. The Olde School restaurant tries to present itself as fine dining, but the atmosphere, the service and the food are not even close to good enough. It tries far too hard to be upscale and fails. When we walked in for Sunday brunch, we were asked if we had a reservation, which we didn t. Instead of saying no problem and seating us, the hostess said okay, I ll be right back , making it seem like it would be difficult to seat us. They had about 4 or 5 tables of people in the entire restaurant. There were a LOT of open tables. We made the mistake of not looking at the menu before coming. We were hoping for a solid brunch menu and it was pretty disappointing. There are appetizers and a very bizarre fix priced option where the fixed menu items don t seem to go together well at all. The atmosphere is stuffy. The wait staff are far over dressed and you can tell this place tries way too hard to be upscale. We had about 3 different wait staff and we were interrupted probably every 5 minutes throughout our meal to ask if we wanted more coffee, orange juice or water. Instead of working around us, they kept saying pardon my reach and constantly reaching across the table. The bread we got was cut in a weird way so that the pieces weren t actually fully cut. If it was truly fine dining, they would have cleaned the crumbs off the table between courses, before changing cutlery. They don t do this. For appetizers, we got bacon wrapped scallops, which had no flavour and were seemingly cooked from frozen. We also shared the smoked salmon appetizer, which was just okay. I would ve expected some sort of pickling of the onions or something at a restaurant like this. They were just plain, red onions. For mains, my wife got the eggs Benedict and the eggs were poached hard. That was a big miss on a basic brunch item. I got a very disappointing diner quality omelette. We both have a love of diners and wouldve been okay with the quality of food had it been a diner, but a place like this should have much better food. Very disappointing - we won t come back.
This place is so old it was a restaurant when I went to school
I just went to see the building, which was once a school, a beautiful building. I will return for dinner or lunch
Amazing experience! Dining here makes it seem like youre far from home and taken back in time. Truly a remarkable experience and the steak I ordered was the best Ive ever had and the value for the price is incredible.
Some of the food was great and there was one nice touch with the service, but both were subpar overall
Exellent service and amazing food. Will go there again for sure.
My 3rd time here. Superb
Thanks very much for hosting our wedding, it went great and we loved all of the food and the wine.
Food and service were amazing. Best Prime Rib I like well done and still so tender and melts in your mouth. Well done. Thank you Nick.
Amazing experience. Food was absolutely delicious. Didnt feel rushed. Staff were attentive and friendly. Piano player provided great music. This fine dining restaurant is a must go to. You wont be disappointed.
Great atmosphere, outstanding service (Lenny). Food was excellent as well
Very nice place. Great food and excellent service.
The Olde School House went above and beyond for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. Everything was perfect. Thank you.
Excellent Service, excellent food, and excellent entertainment!
Gus is still providing an exceptional dining experience! The service, the food, the atmosphere, and the entertainment are all Five Stars.
Fantastic service and great food! We went for mine and my friends birthday dinner with a group of 6. They were very attentive and the meals for the 2 birthdays came with a complimentary dessert with candles and sparklers! I see many reviews on this site complaining about the buffet and how they wont come back. Buffets are not the best way to try out a restaurant, in my opinion. If you havent been here for a lunch or dinner then you are missing out!
We have had dinner at this restaurant three times this year and the first two times we were well received by the owner, had Lenny as a very hospitable server and were fairly satisfied with the meals, we stuck with tried and true, the prime rib, lamb, salmon, and filet mignon. The French onion soup is always a winner. However, this past weekend we were part of a 22 person family function on a Tuesday evening. This time the meals were just average, sometimes below. It was as if the preparation was rushed, the plating was amateurish, the vegetables, over done, the meats were unseasoned. I ordered veal medallions with Oscar sauce; I asked the server how it was cooked and she said medium. My husband and I ordered oysters and I asked if they were fresh and she assured us they were, another appetizer was the escargot with mushroom caps and cheese. My plate was wrong and when I asked the server, she took it to the chef who tried to convince me that veal medallions are supposed to look like schnitzel; the Oscar seafood sauce was terrible as the seafood was sawdust dry, both the meal and the sauce were inedible. The oysters were served lukewarm and poorly shucked, we both got a few pieces of shell and I only had one; the escargot was way over cooked and rubbery. Had anyone asked us, we would have been honest, but no one came around after we were served, to check on the food. When the server came to ask if we wanted dessert, I asked her to remove my meal from the invoice, she could see it was untouched. At that point, she offered to bring out a prime rib, but by then, everyone had already eaten and quite frankly, nothing I saw looked appetizing. I ended up getting sick that evening. The atmosphere is quaint and charming; the owner has been kind to us, but this male server and the foods this week were questionable. The quality has been inconsistent. We would have expressed our dissatisfaction via the tip, but it was already included in the bill, which we found off-putting, and presumptuous considering our experience. If this restaurant wants to be in the fine dining lane, it needs to prepare succulent dishes presented artistically, you can t have servers with a chip on their shoulder; adding the tip to the invoice means you should be absolutely sure you did everything right, and when you don t, that is short-sighted and arrogant. Will we return? I don t think so, but there is opportunity for improvement if the management accepts constructive criticism and applies it.
Beautiful restaurant inside the service was excellent. Food was top notch portions were perfect I would recommend this place to anyone. Gus and Melanie made this visit all the worth while Thank you and to all the staff!
Attentive service and delicious food. Friends and I came over after a workout event and felt completely underdressed but we didnt get any attitude :p Portion sizes were good and they had an excellent variety of desserts. Baked Alaska pictured Food
Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator available Food
Had a large group out and no one had a bad meal - and some of them are fussy. Great service too.
We had an amazing Anniversary dinner last evening! Service was excellent and food was above our expectations. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. Loved the School house theme! The special anniversary dessert was a highlight Food : 5/5
Last night we celebrated an 80th birthday with 26 guests in the Library Room. The food was ample and delicious. The service from Lenny and Shannon was outstanding. Thank you, Gus.
Amazing Place. Delicious Food. Nice People
Visited this restaurant for a large group 50th anniversary celebration and were very impressed. Food, service, and atmosphere were all great. Food: bread basket was delicious I loved the creamy spicy feta spread for it. So good. The house salad was so yummy and the prime rib was great! I understand we had a set menu but my only bought was I wish there were more side options for the main course but everything tasted delicious. The squash on the veg was beautiful. Service: we felt taken care of the entire time. Drinks full, food was quick, table cleared quickly. Being a former server I enjoyed these touches. Atmosphere: wow! This place has a beautiful nostalgia and so much to see and look at. Almost museum like. I loved that there were different rooms I could take my toddler for a walk in, he loved all the statues and artwork. A special shout-out to the pianist who took the song request from my toddler, Twinkle twinkle little star and dedicated it to him. Sounded so lovely! Thank you!
I asked a question days ago and did not receive any reply
Not inexpensive but worth every penny! Fantastic eating experience.
Racist at its core! We went there last night hoping we can get a nice dinner and my friend and i were just rejected right off the bat! The guest attendant was so confused as well, and the head chef just said kitchen is closed we went there 815!! They are open till 1030!! We were on vacation on this small town, and we all we wanted was a nice dinner, and this people, because of our race perhaps, just dont want to serve us! Its funny how some bussiness operates this way still! Lol. Worst customer service! Ohh and I hope the manager knows how to properly communicate. And learn the proper way of talking and explaining things to their customers. Olde school? U need to be taught properly. If i can put -5, trust me, i would.
Wonderful experience dining in a beautiful setting with some unique history. Enjoyed the venison medallions, escargot and some fabulous desserts.
Great staff taking care to provide excellent service.
A great fine dining establishment to visit when you are in the Brantford area. The interior of the restaurant is warm and welcoming. The food is cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the prime rib which was delicious. The old school chocolate cover mousse is a must have. I would definitely go here again.
Top notch food and unparalleled service. The Olde School House thrives on the details that make your experience unique and memorable. Truly a fine dining gem.
Excellent food and service
Very welcoming, especially during these times of segregation. Excellent food, service and friendly staff. Live piano was a nice touch. Have returned multiple times.
Excellent service and food!!
Definitely a must for those who love fine dining or a good Steakhouse.... #keepupthegoodwork if I could have given 6 stars I would have...great staff too! #keepupthegoodwork
First time back in about 10 years, still great personal service, relaxing atmosphere, and of course, great food and drink. Update April 12 2022. Brought my love for a special dinner and we spent 3 hours dining and chatting the evening away. I love this place.
Super friendly staff. Food was delicious Filet mignon was cooked to perfection . The zaganaki was perfect too and not too salty. I recommend the Rockefeller Oysters And the raw ones !! They were marvelous!!!with a splash of lemon . Spectacular evening.
Tasty food and the service was excellent!
Amazing food & service! Wonderful experience
Amazing Food + Service 10/10
Was trying to figure out where to eat in honor of my birthday. I wanted to eat somewhere fit for a queen. Where else would I eat other than at The Olde Schoolhouse Restaurant where Queen Elizabeth dined in 1997. What an honor to dine in the same place as royalty. This also happens to be their 40th year anniversary. Here is my breakdown. Ambience: Its a quaint little schoolhouse on the outskirts of both Brantford and Paris. Its like walking into history with its oldschool look and feel. We were seated by the piano which added to the ambiance while the piano played. It was a beautiful, old school, and enjoyable dining experience. Food: There are lots of different dining options available. I really liked that they had several junior options available which offer a smaller portion at a lower price point. They offer pasta to fish to steak and so much more. I liked that my entree came with soup or a salad. I started with the beef and barley soup which was definitely made from scratch. It was homey, delicious and arrived piping hot. We also got a small loaf of bread with it that I used to soak up the soups and sauces because they were all so good. My entree was the Junior version of the New York Striploin which came with vegetables and a few little potato pieces. For the junior portion is sure came with alot of food. The steak was thing but tender. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and were still a bit crunchy. The sauce that came with it was so delicious I used some of that leftover bread to soak it up. The boy ordered the Promivi Veal Rib Parmesan. The portion was HUGE and somehow the boy managed to eat it all. I tasted the veal parmesan and it was well cooked and super flavorful. The marinara sauce was amazing. We then got dessert where I had to order the baked Alaska. I have seen it on cooking shows but never in a restaurant so I had to try it. The base is a spiced cake. Topped with vanilla ice cream. It is then topped with a meringue and then flamed with triple sec. It is then topped with your choice of topping. I chose raspberry. If you love sweet desserts then this one is for you. The portion was huge so Id suggest it for 2. The boy ordered the strawberry cheesecake which was also super delicious. Overview: All in all this was a great dining experience. Its a perfect place for all occasions and I would definitely recommend. If you havent been yet, you should make it a point to support this local spot.
This Olde School Restaurant should be on everyones wish list, its a very relaxing high class establishment that welcomes anybody, the service is amazing with no pressure plus the food surpasses any expectations in my mind this is a Michelin Star restaurant that anybody Would feel welcome
Much better than my first go around. Food tasty and Lenny was great
Extremely rude and unprofessional staff, never have I been spoken to so rudely.
Lets talk about how amazing dinner was tonight. We had Lenny as out server who was EXCELLENT. He went above and beyond to make sure our family and 2 little ones (8&6) were well looked after! The food was incredible and they even have a kids menu. Cheryl the piano player was so fantastic, kind and played music our girls would enjoy! Im so glad we were able to visit here and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting an evening out.
The restaurant is a classic old place to dine. The decor is quaint and cozy. You would almost expect Dean Martin to walk in for a meal. In fact, there was an excellent pianist there to entertain. She also had a beautiful voice. The meals we ordered were quite tasty and very reasonably priced. We had chosen from the specials list. I had a veal dinner that included a shrimp cocktail and dessert. The dessert was a lovely raspberry cake drizzled with chocolate sauce and a couple of generous sized melon slices . We will be back.
Treated like a queen and oh my the queens pix is on the wall ,sitting in the restaurant because she was there in 1997,service and food so classy so yum yum, spend 1oo.oo ,buy a gift certificate, pay with it and get a free steak knife of great quality with their name on,2nd x for myself was there 6 years ago and my 1st knife shows no wear ,definetly will be back Vegetarian options: Again just ask waiter, waitress tgey will discuss your options Dietary restrictions: Just ask waiter, waitress they will help you decide your options Parking: Has a lot to accommodate parking
We have been here before in the past for brunch and has been fabulous, but since Covid, they have reduced brunch to special occassions such as Fathers Day, which we attended. Disappointment is not the word, we were seated at table next to the stairs, and customers were grabbing the back of our chairs to go up and down the stairs while we were seated in it almost causing us to topple over and congregating in front of our table socializing with other patrons with no regards for others. Table placement should be well thought out, and not put customers where can be danger to others. The area that brunch is located is small, food stations scattered all over the area including top of the bar and people were lined up blocking entrances and stairs. The server we had did not ask us if we wanted water or any refreshment that was included with brunch we finally had to ask and they did not advise us or most customers that you were to wear one glove while handling the utensils at the brunch table, it was only because we overheard a server telling another table. The food that was suppose to be hot ie: scrambled eggs, sausage etc was ice cold, pancakes were hard and burnt, overall it was a terrible experience and very expensive for what was presented and served. The quality and service has gone downhill and not sure if is because they rarely do brunch anymore but whatever the reason, if they continue serving brunches, they need to step up their game and have better handle on the quality of food and customer control. It was a very expensive Fathers Day disappointment.
Beautiful place. Great place to eat, amazing food, Very classy. Gus ( black car) needs to find a new place to park. Not very inviting, having to walk through cars to enter the restaurant.
If I could give 0 stars I would. The owner Gus literally yelled at me on the phone and hung up. Because of a simple misunderstanding of a reservation that had to be cancelled. I then emailed to try and explain and maybe get an apology from him for yelling and hanging up on me and not a word back. I would not have left a terrible review if even my email could be replied to and an apology Been issued to me but that didn t happen. As a fellow business owner I would never dare speak to a customer how he spoke to me. Very rude.
Food was amazing! Drinks were excellent! We spent wonderful time celebrating my husbands birthday. We liked piano performance a lot. Thank you for great service!
Great prime rib
Food was awesome, service was great.
Excellent meal
Great experience. Allocated in an old school, have an interesting decoration (spent most of the dinner talking about the pictures and antiques) The food and the service are excellent. This is a proper restaurant for people who can take time and enjoy dinner with love ones. Parking: Good space to park. Kid-friendliness: They have a menu for kids.
Too many cheesy knickknacks and family pictures made the atmosphere cheap looking and not s good first impression walking in. The big Indian chief in the corner made me uncomfortable. Service was excellent but the food was disappointing. Yellow iceberg lettuce with a quarter of a tomato should never be served at a restaurant that prides itself on being higher end. The balsamic dressing was balsamic glaze and is awful on an iceberg salad. Cheap salad ruins dinner and expectations of what is to come. The vegetables were over cooked and boring. The steak Neptune had watery crab on top and was flavourless. The filet mignon was good though. We didn t stay for dessert, we wanted out as an inconsiderate family with screeching kids running around didn t help. If your kids can t behave well at a restaurant don t bring them. I don t blame the restaurant for that.
The environment and service are good, and the food is of the same standard. Ive tried it, but its been good, and Ive also been disappointed.
Been here for years. One of Brantfords BEST. GUS the owner is the best in the business
I recently dined here and had the worst pork tenderlion in my life. It was like a big pork chop dry and thick. Definitely not pork tenderloin. I would of said something to the waitress but she was hardly available..thank goodness I had a gift certificate so I didnt have to pay whole price of the 125.00 dinner. Probably not go again unless I get another gift certificate.
Parking: Lots
Fantastic, service and food both impeccable. Lonnie, the waiter, made it wonderful. Ambiance, building itself make it worth it.
With covid, we havent been out in a while. Our dinner was again as we remembered, excellent. Service though was even better. Our waiter was attentive to all of our requests. For a great night out, the Olde school house is your place
We had a great family and dinner there. Our server was top notch. The food was great.
Staff were very attentive, food was good
Wonderful celebratory lunch in the Library (private room). I had the soup and salmon trout. Delicious! And the service was impeccable. Parking: Lots of free parking on site.
A luxurious dining experience! Surrounded by history and mementos, while eating amazing food, at reasonable prices! Highly recommend coming here when you want to spoil yourself or that special someone! Five stars!
Beautiful place, great staff, tasty meals. I was very impressed. The Queen Elizabeth II dined here.
Amazing food and excellent service. Beautiful atmosphere
Unfortunately, we had an o.k experience at this establishment. I found the manager to be very rude from the beginning to the end. A few of our guests arrived before my wife and I did and they were met with the manager asking them why are you late and where is the bride and groom I made sure to let the manager know ahead of time that our arrival time may vary as it was dependant on how our ceremony went. I was reassured on the phone that it wasn t a problem and that they will be ready for us whenever we got there. These reservations were also made two weeks in advanced to ensure we gave them ample time to prepare for 12-14 guests. The food took over two hours to be served and it came out cold. Our waitresses were lovely and were doing what they could to make sure everyone was happy, which is why I am giving this a 3 star review. My wife and I used to love this establishment and was very excited to bring our guests to enjoy this experience. But due to our last visit, we will not be returning.
I had high hopes for this dinner. Unfortunately, the experience was less than ideal. From the reviews, maybe it was an off night, but I can only review our experience. We had a larger party and that could have played into the experience, but they should be able to accommodate that. If not, let us know while booking and we can look elsewhere. The décor paints the picture of an old place with a rich history. The different levels, seating area and wall art makes for a cozy feel. Keeping things short the drinks were good and the server assistant was very attentive. The server and manager were a little cold and even seemed annoyed by the situation. The food was just okay and on the cold side. It was late, we had a long day and we all just wanted to eat and leave. It took so long to get the food, sending anything back would have made the issue worse. Along with the food being a little cold, it didn t wow us. For the price, we should have been wowed.
Excellent service and food. I liked the unique venue.
My wife and I were welcomed in just before closing on a Friday night. We sat in front of the piano and really enjoyed the entertainment. The musician played our request and it sounded amazing. Our meals and drinks were very good. Our server was a lovely young lady that was a pleasure to talk with. We really appreciated the Olde School charm and quiet atmosphere.
Great restaurant. The setup is very interesting. Worth a visit.
Incredible service. The food was exceptional.
It was a hidden gem in the Paris area. The food and service were both excellent
We booked for a business dinner, great atmosphere, food and exceptional service. The prices are very reasonable for food and drinks.
Absolutely TERRRIBLE!!! My husbands birthday dinner. First rib cap way over cooked. Second rib cap RAW asked for prime rib (as this is pretty difficult to screw up as it s normally pre cooked) and it was ok but as manager set it on table he said to my husband this is on me. BUT that was a lie received FULL bill and waitress (who was lovely) almost in tears (literally) over the fact that manager did nothing told us she could grab him so we could talk to him but, said in a lower voice, probably nothing would change. When my husband went to speak directly to him after we paid the full bill he tried to tell my husband he didn t say that but said he would cut his meat for him (to check it) WHAT?!?? Who does that ?! Anyways Olde School house may have run it s course. We will never be back.
So tonight my family took me to The Olde School Restaurant and what a complete disappointment. Right from the moment we walked in, the staff saw us but nobody greeted us. We ordered our meals and when they came my daughters was a very small portion of shrimp and scallops but mine was even worse. I ordered the Veal chop medium rare and when I cut into it it was well done. I asked for another to be cooked MR and when this one came out it was still raw (with light grill marks). Again I sent it back but by this time everyone was pretty much done so I just asked for a prime rib as I know it is already cooked and it came out in 2 minutes. The manager brought it out and said your dinner is on me as he put it down. Finally something cooked right, although poor quality. We got the bill and the prime was still on there. The waitress told us that the manager wasn t going to adjust the bill. At this point we just wanted to get out of there. I stopped the manager at the bar on the way out and he blatantly lied to me saying he offered to cut my prime rib for me, not your dinner is on me. He even tried to tell me the remake veal (which was still mooing) was cooked perfectly. What a joke! That may be some of the worst customer service from a manager I ve ever seen and I ve been in F&B for 30+ years. We will never go back to Olde School Restaurant. It s gone way downhill over the last few years.
Too darkened atmosphere. Should keep some areas lightened. Very conservative. Keep going not just piano. Just alternative
Hosted a business dinner. Excellent service and delicious food. Thank you for the great experience
Rude servers, delicious food
We wanted a special dinner to celebrate our 40th Anniversary with our children. And what better place then the Olde School Restaurant. As usual the service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious and perfect. They even supplied the desert, a Chocolate Mouse (mousse) which was adorable and to die for. Definitely the place to go for a special meal and ambiance. Will absolutely go again.
The owner is psychotic, I had a reservation and didnt end up coming to this place and Iam glad I didnt ... He called my phone 14 times cussing and yelling at me...I understand I should have called and cancelled however that does not give him the right to harass me and cuss at me. Stay clear from this dump
There were 20 of us gathered for Christmas time get together dinner...service was spot on by Lenny and Erica...every meal was delicious, especially the prime rib, each done to perfection. The venue is lovely and beautifully decorated for Christmas. A wonderful night was had by all. Thankyou to the staff. Parking: Lots of available parking Wheelchair accessibility: We had one person needing this and elevator available.
Gus is a legend we have always been happy with the food and service
had a late lunch. service was slow, coffee luke warm. our expectations were of times past...did not see anyone at the piano bar nor expected to be told to hurry up as the next sitting cycle was nearing. Disappointed.
Service was slow....mushroom soup was excellent but overall expensive. Did not see the piano bar in action.
What a fabulous place!
