5704 Mosholu Ave, Bronx, NY 10471, United States
Small, serving traditional red-sauce Italian cuisine in homey surrounds. Accepts reservations, call in an advance small restaurant.
Always wonderfully flavorful food, prepared fresh and with care. The staff is attentive without rushing us out the door. I ordered a Cajun halibut with broccoli rabe and cannellini beans. It was exquisite.
We have been to Beccofino on several occasions and have always enjoyed the food and the experience. Not this time. We arrived at restaurant early and around 5 in the afternoon. There were quite a few tables available including many that seated four. My partner used a wheelchair and I asked for a table for 4 because that provided more room for his wheelchair. The staff refused and only offered us a table for two despite there being many 4 person tables empty and available. Their explanation was that all of the four person tables were being saved for guests arriving later in the evening. I nicely explained that we're there now. The staff did not relent. I am latin and my partner is black. The staff said "No" thereby spoiling our mood and we left never to darken Beccofino's door again. We felt that we were being discriminated against. Our recommendation? If you are a person of color and use a wheelchair, avoid this restaurant. You may be embarrassed.
We celebrated a birthday in this place and I can tell you that this is the best place to be. The waitresses (Jessica and the beautiful blonde woman) are so patient and on point with whatever you need plus the food is amazing and sumptuous. The vibe of the place and the lights inside makes it even more intimate. I highly recommend this place! Such a gem in this Riverdale neighborhood!
The coziest restaurant we’ve been to in a long time. We’ve been on the hunt for an Italian restaurant with delicious and authentic food. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The servers were all very attentive and friendly.
Excellent meal. Cozy space. Understated. Warm. Delicious food. Big portions. Thought I'd eat half of my chicken parm (which Cathy, our friendly server, promised was top notch) but I ate the whole darn thing. (Cathy was right.) Hubby had the salmon special - just the right amount of heat to make it special. Both came with spaghetti and their sweet and tangy tomato sauce (gravy!) Salmon dish came with salad - simple yet just right. Perfect meal. Will come back as reggies.
Nice small quiet place. Food was really good. Has Cavatelli with Broccoli Rabe & Sausage, the Sausage was hot but it didn’t say it on the menu, which was fine for me b/c I like spicy food. It was really good. Will definitely be back.
The food is delicious and the service is top notch! This is our favorite local Italian restaurant. Affordable with great size portions. Best red sangria ever! Good for a casual dinner or a date night.
There’s not much to say, 5 star service and 5 star food. The food is comparable to the Italian food I’ve had in the Little Italy section of the Bronx. The service was also good when I went. Pasta dishes average about $20 a plate. Would definitely go again.
Had the best flounder dish ever a week ago
Amazing service. Great portions love this place. No longer a secret
Good local Italian food...nice portions...got leftovers for tmw
Quaint restaurant with a friendly staff Kid-friendliness: Height chairs available Food : 5/5 |
His favorite spot in riverdale because he loves the eggplant parm I try something different each time Food is always great Food : 5/5
This has been our place for Italian food we were there last week and for the first time were disappointed. The meat in the lasagna was mashed and the sauce on the chicken parm was watery. I think we re going to look around for a different Italian place which saddens me. The food was just not the same.
Great standby for italian in riverdale
Excellent servers (Kathy?) who know what theyre doing, and the food was excellent! I loved the clams, will definitely return!
I cannot rate the food as it never came out. We waited over an hour, then left. Also, they didn t have our reservation and we had to wait 40 minutes for a small table. It was Mother s Day and I was with my 96 year old mother. They ruined the day.
Always excellent food here, they give a lot so you better be hungry. Its best to make a reservation beforehand unless you come early, as the place fills up quickly.
Excellent Italian food
Classic. Intimate. Scrumptious.
Great staff and they are very hard working. The owner is very nice and I love the ambiance of the restaurant.
Beccofino is our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. The food is consistently delicious, no matter what we get. I can honestly say Ive never had a bad meal there, and we go about once a month. Highly recommended!
Always delicious. Great Italian food
The food is delicious super delicious but when you order they do so much mistakes in the order they give you what they want and no what you ask for !!!
Friendly staff. Goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and share their cuisine.
Atmosphere: seating arrangements too close, extremely noisy people come to this place. Service is nice, but food is just average for the price.
Home...
Great food, large menu. Nice place to enjoy with friends or a date.
Meal was a disappointment. Undercooked shrimp and buried in sauce.
Really cant go wrong for pasta and salad!
Very tasty
Place is busy. Food is fabulous
I ordered the lemon cake and I was sent tiramisu which I loathed because I got severe food poisoning that 1st and only other time I ate tiramisu. I am beyond disappointment. This is why I prefer cooking my own meals because when you order out, you never know exactly what youre going to get.
We ve been searching for a good Italian spot since spending May traveling through Southern Italy. Beccofino s combination of fresh ingredients, amazing service and generous portions makes this place an amazing destination.
Great food !
Very small dining room. Fresh food, good service. Must change the bread,
This is the best Italian food I have had in the U.S. The pasta has wonderful flavors and texture. The portions are great too.
Great stuffed mushrooms, eggplant rolatine and francese dishes.
The restaurant is small, but not intimate because it is very noisy. In order to be heard, people raise their voices which results in even more noise. There are no house appetizers, such as roasted peppers or butter beans, served when you are seated - only some non-descript Italian bread similar to what youd buy at the supermarket that isnt even warmed up. The pear salad was very good as was the broccoli rabe, but the chicken marsala was overcooked and tough and the restaurant was resistant to serving gluten-free pasta as a side dish, saying they only serve it as a main. Only after shaming them by offering to pay the difference did they relent. We spent $90 for 2 people with 1 glass of wine and no dessert. Probably would not return.
Nothing to envy of a restaurant in midtown, excellent food
Beautiful small Italian restaurant in the Bronx friendly staff
Excellent food and atmosphere
Every table was full, so the service was on the slow side, but our waiter was thorough and attentive. Its a cozy neighborhood spot and the food was excellent!!
OMG. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! We stopped in on our way back to MD (from. NH). The food was fresh, exquisite and served with impeccable service. The crowd greeted us as we walked to our table. Nothing but smiles in this place. You will love this place. I guarantee it!!
One of the best neighborhood Italian restaurants I have been to in the U.S. The food is excellent, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable.
great food and staff!!
AMAZING FOOD! GREAT SERVICE! Really great wine selection too!
Delicious food Great service
Originally I complained about the long waits to get in but post-pandemic thats not an issue so Im updating to 5 stars. The service is fine and the food is the best home style Italian food you will ever eat.
Very clean and food was very well prepared and delicious.. will definitely eat there again.
Food and service was excellent as usual. Also glad you can now make reservations
A great meal as usual. Brianna was an excellent server and extremely attentive.
Loved the delicious Veal Franese. Great portions to take home for lunch next day! Cozy place!
Great, small neighborhood restaurant. Good service and delicious past, especially the spaghetti a la carbonara!
Awesome Gem amazing food and am not a big Italian food guy but this place make u be
Late night Italian in riverdale? Yes
Horrible service overall
Totally delicious meal! Its been over 3 years since I last ate here......so happy to be back.
Great Italian food Manhattan quality. Unpretentious with very friendly staff. This is a great neighborhood restaurant.
Kid-friendliness: Awesome staff and a gem for an owner! Will definitely be returning!
A small cozy restaurant that Ive been going to for many years. Excellent food , nice portions and wonderful service. I actually drove 35 miles to take a friend there.
Good family environment.. small restaurant with great atmosphere. The waitstaff was good, the food came out hot and fresh, will return with the family.
Went for an anniversary dinner. The food was delicious. A great neighborhood restaurant. Cant go wrong.
Fantastic food and service.
I am disgusted by the food tonight. The potatoes tasted like they came out of the trash and the chicken tasted old. Very disappointed with dinner this evening. In addition the waitress as unprofessional flirting with my husband, besides was not attentive to our table service. She didnt even bring us the bill nor did she bring us back the change! I had to go up to her and get my change! Never again will I dine there!
The food was not good at all. I order through an app. The pasta didn t even have enough sauce but it didn t even taste good anyways. The cake was good but again that pasta was not.
Best restaurant in Brisbane, probably SE QLD. Service is unmatched
Food delish. The manicotti and the pear salad with shrimp my fav
Great food. Sangria was really good, too. Nice small space that makes you feel very with the person/people youre dining with.
Great service Delicious food Reasonable prices
Great risotto.
Cant get enough of this place. Everything i have had is just delicious. If I can give 10 starts. I would.. highly recommend
Enjoyed food.
Relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and the food is really good. Would recommend it.
Mouthwatering food ... every bite of it has a unique flavour
Delicious food!!! Well worth the price. Cant go wrong with chicken parm and penne vodka!
All of the food and sangria was delicious and both waitresses Jenny & Cynthia were friendly.
Awesome! Great food and service!
Its small Peaceful and with very good food
They have a nice selection of wine. The food was very fresh and delicious. I would recommend coming here. Its just a very good Italian restaurant.
Consistently great food. Friendly staff. The calamari was a little overdone but thats forgivable. Good portions as well. Ill be returning for more Italian goodness.
Good food, the fish was fresh and tasty. Attentive and kind service.
Sorry theres no pictures of the fresh salad because it was that good. The dish that is in the photo is their Red Snapper which was on the special menu that Friday night. Simply delicious! So mad at myself for living in the neighborhood all of these years and finally visiting this jewel. The service was excellent. Very attentive and the deserts were amazing. Yes, our party of four all had an excellent evening.
Excellent!
A little gem in Riverdale.
Highly recommend. Everything we had was Incredible!! They took care of a large group of 15 with exceptional service in a timely manner. Can t wait to go back.
Excellent food and service . 1st time
Varied menu, delicious food, friendly & polite servers. Environment is noisy, but homey.
Special place for homemade pasta and other comfort food. Caesar salad is especially wonderful.
The food, the service, and the ambience are all wonderful!
Great food and ambiance
Amazing Italian food in a wonderful setting. The staff for super friendly as well.
Always reliably great just wish they delivered!
A very popular place, apparently -- it was crowded early on a Sunday evening, and only got more crowded as the evening progressed. Food was very good -- my wife said the zuppa di pesce (which she orders pretty much every time were in an Italian restaurant) was way better than average. Pork chops were also very good, as was pasta. Service was prompt, if a bit abrupt - waitress kept walking away in the midst of ordering - but staff was very cordial. Dishes were served as they came out of the kitchen, rather than being assembled and delivered together ... this is common in Latin America and Europe, but not so much here ... not a problem, unless you have an issue with watching a table-mate eat while you wait for your food to come out. In sum, a very good neighborhood Italian - and since its within walking distance of my daughters apartment, we will be returning!
One meal came 15 minutes later than the other meals. Unsatisfactory experience tonight.
All dishes are excellently high class and delicious. Its a Michelin star restaurant with reasonable price. Friendly and clean.
Delicious food, large portions, reasonable prices and good service.
This place has help up over the years as being one of the best restaurants for Italian comfort food. Go early.
Fantastic find in the upper section of Riverdale. Some of the best Italian Ive had in years. Had mussels, ravioli, rigatoni, veal, and 2 wonderful desserts. Will definitely be returning.
I keep giving this restaurant a chance after chance, because the food is pretty decent for the neighborhood, although nothing really special. But the service is consistently inattentive and the wait staff seems rather inexperienced. A while ago, a waitress was bussing the table by stacking the plates on top of one another right in front of me. The other time the waitress gave me a check without cleaning my plate in front of me. That is unacceptable. Where am I supposed to sign? On top of my plate soaked with marinara sauce? There are some basic steps of service that the management should be required to address with their staff. Did I mention filthy aprons and shirts? Another time It took about 20 minutes to check out. I kept asking for the bill, took a while, I put my credit card down, no one came for the longest time. Finally I had to get up and bring it myself to the bartender, while the waitress was having some laughs in the kitchen. It took another 6-7 minutes for them to figure out the payment (it was half cash/half credit). C mon.
Very nice place very cozy
Great staff wonderful food definitely will return. Always great service.
The best italian food in newyork, beautiful service, extremely clean and the service was very fast very impressive
Came here with coworkers for the holiday season. Great food at a reasonable price. Very cozy atmosphere and the service wasnt too bad. I would visit again.
Growing up as an Irish Italian from the Bronx it was customary for my family to eat out in Belmont for authentic Italian food. Over the years as many of the traditional Belmont spots became overly commercialized the quality of their food declined. It appeared to us that the Bronx, sadly, had lost any remaining authentic spots to grab a decent Italian dinner...that is, until we stumbled upon Beccofinos. This has become our new family gem. Each time weve been there the food has been exceptional. The onlyyyyy complaint I have is that their bread could be better--not that its stale--more that its on the cheaper side not the delicious crispy soft interior bread that soaks up dipping oil regardless the entrees make up for this one downside..
Good food
It was a fine experience overall, and it was great that they make the Alfredo sauce without tons of garlic - it s so much more nuanced than that! Don t expect the personal touch to service that the warm and inviting atmosphere suggests; service is very impersonal and rushed. It s best if you come during a weekday outside of peak times, or else you ll be turned away with an indeterminate wait time. We got lucky and only waited 5-10 minutes for a table. The bread was served cold and without oil and vinegar; that was outrageous for a place of this caliber, but luckily we were given oil and vinegar after asking two different waitress/waiter staff. Sangria was good, as was the almond cake dessert. It was disappointing that they couldn t make a plate of fettuccine Alfredo to go along with eggplant Parmesan - it had to be either spaghetti or penne noodles. Temper your expectations, and it ll be a fine experience.
Pasta cooked al dente. Good balance of ingredients. Vodka sauce great consistency. Wait staff was very nice. Lots of food.
Great food, friendly atmosphere.
Great food. Reasonable prices.

Great cozy atmosphere, delicious food all the time no matter what you order. Beccofino is a wonderful place to bring family and friends.
Used to be great. My partner got violently Ill the last time we went....wont go back.
Cozy Italian restaurant with amazing food and great service.
Food was great, atmosphere friendly
We love Beccofino. Its a superb, neighborhood Italian restaurant. Excellent, varied menu and prices are reasonable.
I absolutely love this place. It s become the place where my friends and I get dinner once every blue moon when we all finally have a clear schedule. And it is our favorite. The look of the place is so cozy and romantic. There is fairy lights hanging on the ceiling, candles on each table and the food is just AMAZING ! Definitely recommend.
Local favorite for quite some time - good selection of specials (Veal Milanese is something to watch out for), good wine and service as well
Delicious food, great service!
Really enjoy the food and atmosphere. Fresh and tasty always. Recommend it highly.
The appearance 50 Cent small quaint was decent small quaint. I sat down I was offered a glass of water asked if I wanted to talk tail has more glass of wine while I was waiting for my food to arrive. I ordered an appetizer calamari it was good and I ordered lasagna.. however the service of the waitress was really cold standoffish I sat next to some people and she kept giving them water but my glasses were empty she kept ignoring me the whole time.. I receive my entree The waitress continued to ignore me and I realized my presence really was not wanted in that restaurant and she just really was very cold and standoffish I had to keep calling her just to ask her for water she kept walking back and forth oass. I gave her my card to a ring me up I had to wait for a long time for her to come back to keep walking back and forth I just ignoring my presence, so I was mostly neglected during the time there which was not pleasant.
Went here with a friend. Its a cool little spot. Not too much going on and the food was delicious. Reasonable prices too
Good Food
Great food, service and atmosphere. Excellent neighborhood eatery.
Delicious food great service, cool vibes
Love this place! Never been disappointed by food or service! Sangria is the best I have ever had!
By far one of the best Italian restaurants Ive been to.
The best Italian food in the area!
Always satisfied me! Thank you!
Standard red sauce Italian nothing special
Delicious shrimp and crab meat risotto and homemade sangria!
Very friendly and great food
We found this restaurant by a fluke. We went to my granddaughters college to see her in a play and wanted to take her out for dinner. I looked up places to eat near on college and the nearest was Beccofino. The place is small but we were able to get a table right away. The food is superb, the staff is friendly. I wanted veal piccata but I wanted spaghetti with marinara sauce instead of vegetables and the server was accomadeting. The veal was one of best I ever had. The spaghetti was aldente the way I like it. I would have given them 5 Stars if it wasnt for the prices theyre a little bit high.
Great portions well-prepared food if you like chicken scarpariello on the bone youll absolutely love their recipe also very reasonably priced they only have wine no liquor and only open for dinner
Consistently good food and service.
Here is my experience...We had made reservations for 5 people. I arrived first was seated but for some reason wasnt getting any service. The place is tiny and had more than enough waitresses, which Im positive saw me trying to get someones attention. I never Ever pull the race card. Im hispanic was getting 0 attention from the staff but oddly enough when my step dad arrived who is White....Then is was an entirely different tune...asking him what would you like?....The women there not qualified to waitress...will Not be going back...Food wasnt that great anyway.....Ciao!!!
The food was good, the service very good, but the acoustics are terrible. There were two very loud parties, one right next to us.
Great little local secret. Real good salads and entrees
Beccofino is a wonderful Italian restaurant! If you are looking for an intimate, cozy hideaway to take that special someone out on a date, this is the perfect place. Its in the neighborhood, but you wouldnt know it unless you went to find it. The food is delicious Italian fare. The Pappardelle Bolognese is one of my favorite dishes. The menu hasnt changed much, but the dishes range from pastas to seafood and some salads in between. Its not cheap, but its not expensive either. Buy a bottle of wine while your there, snuggle up with the one you love and make it a night to remember!
Excellent food, service, ambiance and price. I had a salmon special and the calamari appetizer and both were excellent. Definitely give this place a try. You wont regret it.
Never a disappointment! Love Norma!
Exelent food and attention
Kids love the food
Delicious large bowl of lentil soup to start, followed by wild salmon, green beans and incredibly perfect roasted potatoes. Cant wait to return. Excellent staff. Warm and welcoming. Wednesday night....all tables filled.
Excellent food and service!
Had dinner with my family on Sunday. Outstanding! !
This has been a staple for wonderful Italian cuisine for 10-20 years in Riverdale. Consistently delicious. Only downside - prepare to wait at primetime, they dont take reservations. Come before 6 or after 8ish
If you like Papa Ginos, you love Beccofinos!
Always good
Always delicious
