2230 Boul. Lapinière, Brossard, QC J4W 1M3, Canada
This is a great authentic Chinese resto... set seafood meal for 10 costs around 500, but amazing quality.
Did not expect to find one of the best Seafood restaurant in this little commercial place. There is only one small restroom here for about max 50 clients. This place has minimum decor and you will sit right on the wood seats of old chairs. Despite all, you will not regret to have a chance to try very special seafood meals in Brossard. For those who loves to drive six hours long to find the best seafood restaurant in Toronto, save yourself a trip and let me know how you love this restaurant.
The food was good and all the dishes came out around the same time. Unlike a previous reviewer, I did not notice any over saltiness in the food. I’m giving the food rating a 4 star since the taste is more or less the same as their competitors in the area The service is where they should improve. 1) when ordering, the waiter was constantly trying to upsell us. Despite telling her we wanted some simple, she acted like she was getting a sales commission. 2) unlike their nearby competitors, the dishes were served in smaller plates or larger plates that were only 70% full. It was very noticeable and puzzling since the ingredients in our dishes were not expensive. 3) they calculate tips on top of tax. The government is clamping down on this shortly and I hope they stop soon. 4) I asked if they had complementary dessert, they said yes. Minutes later, 1/2 a small bowl of red bean dessert was served and we were all supposed to share it In summary, on the surface, this looks like a family style restaurant, you want to help to be successful. The food was on par but, the portion size could be larger. However, multiple hints of greed and cost cutting erases any nostalgic feeling one might have from eating at a smaller family restaurant.
All the dishes taste okay, but they are a bit on the salty side. The flavors are not as good as what the Google reviews suggest. Probably because there are not many great Cantonese restaurants in Montreal, this place can still survive here. However, if this restaurant were to open in Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area, I think it would struggle to stay in business due to the high competition in the Cantonese restaurant scene in Ontario. The prices here are also relatively high compared to other restaurants. The service is not very good, to be honest. The waitress was quite pushy in recommending seafood dishes, even though we had already said two or three times that we were not ready or weren’t interested at the moment. She still insisted on pushing the dishes she wanted us to order. While I do see that this restaurant has quite a few customers, I personally wouldn’t come back again, especially since it’s quite far from downtown. If I lived nearby, maybe I would, but I wouldn’t recommend it as highly as the Google reviews do.
From outside you might not even notice the place. Don’t miss it, it’s delicious cantonese and Chinese fair! Really good 😊 No diet coke 😅but everything else was great 👍
Hong Kong Canadian here. Very authentic Cantonese style BYOB, family-style restaurant. One of the very best in town. Must try their Lobster served on sticky rice, sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper squid and Pei Pa Tofu (stuffed fried tofu).
Came here on a very busy Sunday. We reserved to make sure we had seats, so I highly recommend reserving. Food is very good, but I wouldn't always come back as I live very far. This is my third experience this year. This restaurant based on taste itself would've been 5 stars. Read below if you want to know why I removed so many stars: My gripe is the high price point and how they treat customers differently. Other table a foot away from us had free orange slices and had *a discount due to a different payment method* in which I won't explicitly say what it is to protect their business. Unfair treatment of customers when your restaurant is so small is extremely noticeable. If you do treat certain customers better, try being discreet. Our whole table speak both Cantonese, Mandarin, and three southern dialects so we understood everything.
The most authentic Cantonese food I’ve ever had in Montreal. Everything we ordered is yummy. Highly recommend their live seafood. Super fresh! Service is smooth and friendly.
Great Chinese family food. The cost is on the high side, but its worth the price. Well be back.
Yummy
Always a pleasant experience with amazing food. Our go to for Chinese cuisine.
This restaurant has everything you need to eat a lot and only good food. It s become my favorite restaurant! These restaurateurs are dedicated to their customers
Nice, good and fast
Restaurant offers a menu which is good value. However, the servers often try to upsell by suggesting alternatives to what you intended to order. These may be a similar dish which may not be on the menu but the servers do no tell you that their suggestion is multiple times the price of the original order. You feel scammed when paying. I will no longer be patronizing this restaurant.
I ordered black pepper beef and Hokkien rice. It was a bit salty. I hope it s not so salty next time.
Ordered take our, not good, over cooked egg rolls, bland, and dark bits of chicken
Hidden gem!! I think I just visited the best Chinese restaurant in Montreal & Brossard.
Best Chinese restaurant in QC.I love their food and staff. We will visit next week again to try peking ducks. So good! Food
Small restaurant but great authentic cantonese food.
Best Chinese Foods in Brossard. You can choose foods from my menu :) Food
My family and I absolutely adore Cantonese cuisine - this place is pretty far for me but genuinely I would recommend it to anyone looking to try a great plate of food. 10/10 would always recommend extremely delicious!!
Kid-friendliness: Bad Food
Food is great but the waitress has anger issues. She was giving us attitude all night. Unacceptable, we are not in the 90s anymore. Please management, fix the service issue. We get 10x better service at other chinese restaurants!!
This is my go to for good Cantonese food, Sandy who is always gives the best recommendations is the one to ask. They honestly always hit the spot, we always finish craving more. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free & Vegan Options
A restaurant serving Chinese food. I am a person who likes experiences and has interests in food. I like the food here, its all delicious and good quality. More special than many other restaurants.... is the friendliness and service of the restaurant owner and staff. Come experience it and you will see that I did not exaggerate. Wishing you a delicious meal!
Very bad service, the Cantonese s waitress was insulting us and didn t even give us water. Just because we are white, I won t ever got back to the restaurant.
The food is excellent with original dishes that you dont find in the Chinese neighborhood, smiling and impeccable service! Very nice discovery for the South Shore of Montreal.
Excellent restaurant! We will go back...
Recommend lamb steak Parking: Very good Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible
Really good China foods.
nice restaurant, delicious foods. Dietary restrictions: good foods. Food : 5/5 |
Excellent food ! 5 stars food ! This is the ONLY chinese restaurant , we knew that the waiter bother to ask if everything is okay while we still enjoyed the food.
new spot for me for good Chinese food
Family
Ordered food through a delivery app. Orange chicken, egg rolls and garlic spare ribs. Both were really sweet, expected from the chicken dish but the ribs tasted as if they were cooked in sugar syrup. There was no garlic flavour at all. I had to pick the ribs out of the syrup and stir fry them myself in garlic/shallots/spices to make them edible. Absolutely terrible taste. The egg rolls were inconsistent with respect to filling and how brown they were. I would not recommend this place.
The food is really good.
Fresh seafood, very traditional flavor.
Reserved but there was no table ready
Good food, good service. Covid friendly.
I liked the food but I feel scammed everytime I go there. I will recommended to check the bill or ask for the price before ordering. For example, we ordered a fish and it costed 72.95$ before tax (price not marked on the menu or anywhere else) The waitress kept recommending / selling us food that are not on the menu. We found out later the cost of all those dishes... (lambs with a few piece brocolis costed us 67.95$ before tax). Overall, it was overpriced. We were 3 and paid in total more than 300$. So if you do come to this restaurant, be aware of their practice and ask for the price beforehand.
The food is good, however Ill have to echo everyone elses comments here. The waitresses are extremely rude and condescending. When asking if the food will be coming out soon (politely), after waiting at the table for almost an hour, they snap back at you. When asking to add another dish to our order and we didnt necessarily know what the dish was called, they make fun of you and tell you to say it more clearly next time. About pricing. If you dont order off the menu, you will never know what the real price is, because they make up the prices. We knew this, and asked for the price of every single thing we ordered, but then waitress got annoyed and started to say she doesnt know and to ask the boss yourself. It is true that they will try to push for more expensive items, but they still wont tell you the price of it lol. After getting all our food that night, we just lost our appetite because of how we were treated. Sadly, this will probably be the last time we come back.
The restaurant is small but the service and staff were efficient. The food was amazing, their seafood is really good.
Fantastic service, cozy. Extensive menu. General Tao, made from chicken breast, wow. I will go back
Excellent food!! The quality is comparable to those restaurants in Toronto or Vancouver. Highly recommended and will definitely go back with my own wine.
We have ordered from here before. But tonight it was really not good. The eggrolls had been deep fried SEVERAL times. Was horrible. Frustrating especially since their menu is expensive.
This Chinese/Szechunese restaurant is delicious! I order the same dishes all the time because its a real treat. The boss is kind and very welcoming. The prices are good for the quality and quantity it offers. If you go there I recommend. Stir-fried eggplant with Yuan sauce, tofu with general tao, braised beef cube with Chinese broccoli and crispy chow min. Parking: The parking lot is located opposite the restaurant.
The service is really bad and the waitresses are rude. They will also push the tip even if the service is bad. We came with a stroller and the waitress was saying theres no space for it so its not a kid friendly restaurant. The food is ok but rather expensive for what youre getting. Will not go back or recommend to anyone. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all
Treated us bad. Ordered a chinese broccoli with beef ,the vegetable was not fresh at all and had turned yellow already. Do not go there. No ethics.
Update: still just as good. service just as good. This time we ordered the razor clam dish. very very goood! my perfect combo dish is: 1- golden vancouver crab 2- razor clamp 3- Chinese veggies After moving to Brossard from Montreal we needed to find great restaurants. After trying this place tonight I was mind blown. Food was fresh and delicious. We ordered the Chicken Medusa which was super good. The highlight here was the Golden fried Vancouver crab ! Portions were very fair and the price as well. This resto will be on my Top to go resto in the south shore! Go try because you wont be disappointed. Sambear approuved.
Loved the 10 course meal ordered. Delicious and will definitely return. Dietary restrictions: Able to accomodate dairy free options Parking: A small number of spots in front of restaurant. Also available street parking.
the food is so good I turned into the buddha for a minute
1, Food is ok but pricey compared to its eating environment and service. One plate vegetables and galic cost 19.95$ before tax 2, Make sure to check the price before you order and understand how much you are going to pay for your meal. Dont be fooled by their smile and your previous impression on the price of Chinese food. 3, NOT really recommend it, except you are okay about what I mentioned. 1, Food is expensive compared to the environment and service. A plate of vegetables and galic costs $19.95 before taxes... 2, Double check the price before ordering and understand how much you are going to pay for your meal. Dont let their smile and your previous impression of the price of Chinese food fool you. 3, I dont really recommend this restaurant unless you agree with what I mentioned.
Very fresh portions a little small on take out
Great service and delicious foods.
In my hunting of the best cantonese food in Montreal, I finally found the gem. The option obviously more limited than in Vancouver or Toronto, but Maison Sai Yan suprised me with very good food and great service. All the foods we ordered hit the high notes and doesn t feel like heavy in MSG and super tasty. This is what we expect from authentic cantonese, not Americanized one Very reasonably priced as well, our meal only cost us $113 in total after taxes, that was 5 dishes in total. Ms Yan the owner also very hospitable and speak English fluently.
Bad food and expensive. While I was eating, I saw my boy André get totally ignored for 40min at the front while the waiters seated their own friends who came later without reservation.
Suggest labster on sticky rice, and telapia in hot pot.
The waiter at this restaurant overturned my previous understanding of Chinese cuisine by selling dishes. He always presented the dishes to customers and never said the price. We couldnt find the price on the menu and didnt explain the price clearly. We didnt know these dishes were very expensive until we paid. , I do not recommend coming to dine at this restaurant. Although the dishes are not bad, I hate and despise them for this kind of marketing and fraud. The tables and chairs are very old. . .
The best Chinese restaurant in Quebec in my opinion and the prices are reasonable for the quality. The portions are also very satisfying and balanced. It is possible to have all your proteins and vitamins on a plate, which for the same price is totally impossible in fake restaurants like Thai Express: here they have traditional Chinese vegetables and various meats and fish in addition to cooking the tofu and the crab wonderfully. The staff is also courteous and attentive... especially if you come back from the Bol dOr, you will feel that the service is 5x warmer despite sometimes being a full house.
The dishes are good but over priced
I love this place so much and the food is so delicious. You won t make a mistake for what you order.
The service we had was amazing. We walked in closer to closing time and asked for takeout. They let us take our time and then took our order with friendliness. They stayed open past closing time so we could pick up our order. The food was great as well when we took it home. Its one of the better Chinese places Ive been to. I would recommend this place.
One of the best Cantonese food in the Montreal area. Excellent prices. Always ask for prices when ordering orally and bring your Chinese friend. 100% recommended
If you are looking for tiny portions at big costs, eat here. Also, if you wantt to be discriminated against because you are caucasian, eat here.
Staff were really nice, but the food did not meet my expectations. Our dishes tasted average and the price was expensive for the small portion size.
The restaurant is very busy. We would choose fried rice when taking our children, but it seems that the chef is unwilling to cook a meal under 15 dollars during the peak period, and the waiter has a bad attitude.
The waitress seemed to not understand our request to switch one ingredient with another and tried to push the crab very hard. The miscommunication didn t affect our time there: the food is good and fresh.
Excellent very flavourful Chinese food in a neat, calm and intimate/small location. Waitresses have great enthusiasm in helping us choose our food and are helpful throughout our meal. They do have baby/toddler chairs which makes this place family friendly. Yes its true that they omit to mention price of some suggestions which could lead to some bad surprises as mentionned in some reviews. It would be nice if they improved on that. Overall, its a nice alternative to the noisy and very busy large Chinese restaurants. Kid-friendliness: They have baby/toddler chairs and plastic dishes.
The server wasn t nice, the prices are pretty expensive, the food is alright, and it took us 1 hour for our food.would not recommend and would probably never come back again
They have such a wonderful menu. The service for all the people is spectacular! Ling was our waitress, you must go!!!
Excellent food, good flavor, fresh and very good service
Hidden gem for Chinese food. The food is fresh and prepared very well. It is best to eat in than take out.
Delicious food and great service
Very good Chinese restaurant that offers a great selection of seafood dishes. Also a BYOW location so you don t pay too dollars for your dinner so that you can spend it on the delicious dishes:) the salted egg yolk crab is a must!
Don t mind the appearance. Authentic Chinese restaurant. One of the best around Montreal. Ask the staff for recommendations. Lobster sticky rice, oyster hot pot and salted eggs ribs are a must.
Very delicious food but portion is slightly small. If they can add a bit more it would be perfect.
Top Asian restaurant on the south shore. Always very good service and amazing food!
Great food love the duck
Good family restaurant. Food is good, quality alway the same. Staff are friendly and helpful. My son and I love the steamed fresh scallops with garlic and vermicelli sauce. So tasty...
Whether it s takeout or dine-in, the Cantonese cuisine here is top-notch, and the lobster sticky rice and crucian carp clay pot (dine-in) are highly recommended.
Excellent food. Nice friendly service.
Good food. Completely disregarded the decoration and enjoyed my meal immensely.
Nice service good food! Seafood are fresh. A nice restaurant for supper with friends and family.
Amazing food and amazing place. Bring your own wine if you like that. The food and service is amazing.
Seafood was great loved it
Very good restaurant. Excellent food. Speed of service and courtesy. I recommand it.
Excellent Chinese food.
Decent restaurant for Cantonese cuisine.
Most authentic chinese cuisine in town. The wok flavor is there! Extra crunchy fried dishes. As an extra, they offer a huge variety of fresh seafood to choose from (lobster, crab, cooked in all different manner : in sticky rice, steamed with garlic and vermicelli, stir fry with ginger scallion garlic and more
Food ok, but customer service to chinese versus foreign people was different. By putting ads on facebook, they should expect foreign people and get used to it. Nevertheless, I was treated like I was foreign but I am actually chinese, but dont look chinese, I also feel bad for the other foreign family.
Food is delicious. Salt n pepper shrimps are outstanding. Reservations helpful. Service can be a bit rushed.
EXTREMELY long wait for an otherwise thoroughly meh experience. We waited for 1h30mins without wifi and while the staff wasn t rude per se, they were dismissive of our questioning. Food was alright, nothing too special.
Suggested by a friend, the best!
Amazing foods quality with hk style, i would say the best Chinese food in south shore.
Good
Good but expensive
Food is good but kind of expensive, nice waitress and polite staff
Left the island of Montreal to experience very delicious food at small intimate restaurant..great find will absolutely return!! Thank you
Amazing meal, everything was excellent with a selection of fresh seafood. Portions are small so order plenty!
Good place for authentic cantonese food, good service, a bit pricey
1.)Very long waiting about 90min. Dont understand why NOT inform clients upfront. 2.)Very pricey compared to its eating environment and service. 3.) Make sure to check the price before you order and understand how much you are going to pay for your meal. Dont be fooled by their smile and your previous impression on the price of Chinese food. 4.)NOT really recommend it, except you are okay about what I mentioned.
Great place
Good food and good price
three good
Food was okay, kinda pricey though, but to be expected as with the shortage of everything. Some foods were somewhat too salty, but overall good. Some of our requests were forgotten, possibly due to the shortage of staff and time. Service speed was okay despite being short of staff and they were clearly doing their best.
Too noisy and small restaurant. The foods were so so.
A pretty small restaurant in south shore. In general the taste is okay, but really on the pricy side .
great chinese food
Took me a while to decide to write this but i was very disappointed by the service received. First i am an usual customer at this restaurant and know its small so always call to get a reservation. We got sitted 1h after the reservation time. It then took another 40 mins to get water and menus. The waitress was really rude and dissmissive everytime i tried to ask her anything. We ordered 2 lobsters and they were extremely small, we complained to the waitress who didnt do anything so went to the owner that only said sorry ill talk to my provider no compensation nothing. She then demanded tip when we clearly wasnt satisfied. I am hesitant to go back to this restaurant
Good value. Good taste.
Small dining area, crowded dirty old fashioned washroom. Beware, their prices are not transparent!! They have many specialties off the menu, mostly seafoods, the pokerface old lady pushed for expensive dishes, but you have to ask prices before ordering, because they are arket priced, even the pork ribs! Not a good place to eat if you want just simple chinese foods, they make you feel you dont belong there.
The price is so weird, we ordered soup but it cost $92dollar. The waitresses are very pushing, as always recommended the more expensive dishes... The food is good but compared to the price, its not worth it.
The food is pretty good until I saw the bill, we ordered a soup with crab and fish from one of the combo (not the combo) and it costed me 92$ before tax (price not marked on the menu). They used crab sticks instead of real crab meat, it s very disappointing and scamming for the price. The waitress kept recommending me about lobster and rice, which later I found out costs 80+$ per serving. Other than these two complaints, the other dishes are reasonably priced and cooked well. So if you do come to this restaurant, be aware of the pitfalls, the expensive ones are definitely overpriced, the reasonably priced ones will worth your money.
When I arrived, I saw the cook smoking in his kitchen, I got home with the food for 5 people, we each had the wonton soup, nobody could eat it, dark bitter broth and super hard meat balls... it went directly to the garbage aswell as the imperial rolls that tasted like old cabbage. The main course was a little better, the pad Thai was ok, the General Tao chicken was so hard I could barely cut it. Taste was ok but it came with no rice or vegetables.... just the meat. It was my first and last experience with Maison Sai Yan
Ordered recommended dishes for takeout! Huge portions! It was a delicious feast of razor clams, soft shell crab fried rice, cantonese fried noodles, pekin duck served 2 ways and pei pa tofu!
Food and portion are very good, best food in a long time
Very Good! Very warm welcome! Sanitary measures respected at the entrance.
The eggplants with salted fish were a discovery! Amazing specials too.
3.5 stars Duck was smelling and dry. Vegetables was not enough (scallions & cucumber).
Food was very good!!!
The Peking duck isnt made the traditional way... The rest of the menu isnt too bad.
Good taste, average quality. Ridiculously small portions for the price paid compared to other restaurants of this type. The takeaway dishes are only half full.
An hour of waiting for the order to take away, unacceptable
Very good Its the best
Very good. Small resto. Staff is friendly. They got some nice seafood specials. Overall pretty good. I recommend if you want a classic Cantonese meal.
Soft-shell crab fried rice is almost the same as two years ago except for the taste. The rest is completely different. It only contains half a crab at most. Very disappointing.
Excellent Chinese cuisine. A restaurant frequented by a mainly Chinese clientele.
Expensive restaurant, yet the food was good so 2 stars for that. When we first entered, we were rushed to order the most expensive meals (we didn t know yet fortunately we asked the price!). The staff are rude and the environment is packed. They re is not distancing between tables yet they are strict with vaccine passports. Be aware, if you re not Asian, you ll receive a different menu, and pay tax
Bad experiences. Absolutely atrocious. Serving for two?? No portions for one person. Sorry but theres better for the price. That doesnt make any sense. Zero stars. It cost me $60 with tip. And its not very good. Push yourself a little.
This place is definitely a mini gem off the island of Montreal. I m originally from Toronto and I miss the Chinese food in the restaurants, I haven t found anything like it until this place! It s very tight and small, luckily we were only a group of 2 even though we did not make a reservation they were able to take us in. We were so happy to be able to give them a try. It does get busy and tight but the service was still pretty good. Shot out to the chefs the food was amazing!
Good beef
Best chinese food ever. Im goin there once a week
Super long waiting. I waited for 1 hour and 21 minutes and no food. The management is terrible. We didn t even have any tea. Took us 3-4 times to ask for a bottle of water.
Excellent place! I recommend
Do not come. It is very bad!
Fresh and Tasty seafood. Waiter gives recommendations on what to order. Fair price.
Been there a couple of times, but I always hesitate to go back. The food is good, no arguing there. However, the staff constantly try to push high priced menu items on you. It is very frustrating. Even when you say no, they keep pushing the most expensive items. Customer: we would like a fried rice, a chicken dish, and a vegetable dish. Waitress: would you like to substitute the chicken dish for the abalone, and add the crabe. Customer: no thank you, that will do. Waitress: you should order the house specialty, but double up on the lobster because it wont be enough. Customer: Its okay thanks. That will be it. Waitress: You can also add the scallops and razor clams. Customer: Are you listening?? We said NO!
Waitress greedy
Very disappointing. Ordered the peanut chicken, got dumplings instead. If at least it had been good. The worst weve ever eaten. Just soft dough, hardly any toppings, almost no sauce. The wonton soup tasted like nothing and the other shrimp pasta dish wasnt really worth much more and was too spicy. At least it was warm. I know its not easy for restaurateurs these days, but as long as youre serving that, you might as well abstain in my opinion. It was our first time but we wont give a second chance.
You can get white man or real Chinese food. The choice is yours. Its a good sign when the place is full of Asians. Consistent quality at a great price! It can get quite busy so be sure to reserve in advance.
Staff was rude and bossy and the food was average at best. The restaurant was completely empty and I should have taken that as a sign.
Well prepared, not greasy...tasty and one if the few places with egg rolls, not spring rolls. Very glad to have found this place. Authentic.
The meals are very affordable and delicious!
Excellent!!
One of our favorite restaurants! Excellent food and service.
This is my 2 nd time ordering from here with Uber eats. The only thing was that the hot and sour soup tasted like vinegar. We could not even eat it. Everything else was really good.
The service attitude was super bad. The fat old lady acted like she owed her money, but she had the nerve to ask for a tip. Tips are only given to you when you provide services, not in proportion to consumption. The food tastes okay.
Delicious food and excellent service
lobster with sticky rice! loved it
Very delicious Chinese food! We ordered lobster sticky rice (rice cake) and jellyfish shredded chicken (white chopped chicken), which were really delicious. The material is good and solid. Lobster sticky rice, highly recommended!
They have a good selection of items in a cheaper shorter menu. We always order from that menu, its about 10$ an item from that menu.
Food was great and service was wonderful!
One of the best authentic chinese food on the south shore.
Good food for the price
In addition, the quality of the cuisine is really so so
