Casual BYOB fixture dishing up homestyle Chinese & seafood recipes in an open, contemporary setting.
Terrible service. We complained about this dish and they simply said it’s how they made it. It is never fried in any places in the world for 三杯雞. Very disappointed and waste of time
We visited Papa Jackie based on a recommendation and were pleasantly surprised. Although the parking lot was packed, we managed to find a spot just as someone was leaving. Inside, the restaurant is spacious, with plenty of room between tables, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The food was excellent—everything we ordered was incredibly well-prepared and bursting with flavor. The quality certainly stood out, comparing favorably to similar spots in town. However, we did notice that prices were on the high side, and in some cases, the cost seemed disproportionately high. For instance, the lobster, which is understandably pricy outside coastal areas, felt particularly expensive here. Overall, Papa Jackie is a fantastic choice if you’re after a high-quality meal and don’t mind the splurge.
Very good authentic food. Flavourful. The staff is very nice and courteous. Definitely a great spot for friends/family but not for anything romantic. My biggest complaint is that the price is extremely high per item: about 30% higher than most Chinese restaurants in the same quality bracket.
All time favorite when we crave for Cantonese food! As one of us only eats seafood and veggie, so the family set is good for us to have steamed fresh scallops, fried fish fillets with salt and pepper, the soup is super yummy (蟹肉魚肚羮)! Usually on top of that we would order a beef briskets pot for dinner, and this time with two dim sum, Shrimp siu mai and shrimp dumplings. And the credit to the cashier lady who is so patient, friendly, helpful and polite all the time!
Best Chinese restaurant in Montreal Everything I ordered was really delicious. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Montreal. I want to go there right now. You have to go here. It's really crowded.
Love this place. Always delicious and decently priced. From outside it looks unassuming, but the food is truly delicious 🤤
Had dinner at Papa Jackie, they were very busy, and probably short of staffs for the traffic. We ordered five dishes, the food was very tasty and well done, on the salty side for me, but goes well with rice. The service is average due to short staffs, so customers have to be more patient.
An authentic Chinese restaurant in the South Shore. The staff is friendly and was very helpful with the menu. The portions were very good for the price. Everything tasted fresh and good. The plates look beautiful and are very appealing to the eyes. The wait can be long, but they accept reservations. We left with lots of leftovers.
My family has been eating here for years and it`s by far the best chinese restaurant on the south shore you should definitely check it out food is good, the service is good as well. That being said we are a little disappointed that they keep raising prices frequently while portion sizes have gone down at some point last year. I order the same thing every time June 2024 - my order cost 53.xx$ July 2024 - my order cost 55.xx$ December 2024 - my order cost 60.xx$ In 5 months the prices went up 12% and they were already up since last year and the year before. If it continues like that eventually we will have to consider a different alternative
Very tasty food. However, quite expensive
The food is excellent and the service is fast
A slightly out of the ordinary experience, a fairly traditional but more excellent menu, A1 service Dietary restrictions: Indication of allergies absolutely necessary to avoid any unfortunate incident
Tasty but found a piece of plastic in the general tao chicken
Good Cantonese food
Best Chinese food restaurant in Montreal and surroundings, small place
Please take the dishes that are not cooked well from the menu. In addition, I changed the plates. Nine out of ten plates that were served were cracked. I was really speechless. The guests came out to eat in order to eat something different from home, and they paid more attention to the environment and dishes. They were very disappointed!
I will avoid this restaurant in the future because of the poor service attitude of some male waiters. I have been to this restaurant several times before. Today, probably because I didnt speak Cantonese, a certain waiter gave me a very bad service experience. The male waiter arranged for a middle-aged woman behind me who had been shouting loudly in Cantonese and her family to be seated first. He completely ignored the person at the front of the queue and I explained to him in Mandarin that my family and I arrived first. Weve been waiting for half an hour. The guests at the table next to him and the guests in line behind the middle-aged and elderly women jockeying for seats looked surprised. When the two guests at the back saw this, they pushed the door open and left. I can only speculate that it was probably because I was a pregnant woman with a big belly, pushing a stroller, and waiting for a table alone with her family away from me, so the waiter chose to serve the guests behind me first. Frankly, I think this is discrimination. The reason why I didnt give it one star is because the waitress who greeted me and the lady at the cashier were both very nice. After receiving my complaint, the waitress who received me asked her male colleague why she didnt seat me first. At first, she lied and said that my aunt was in front of me. However, she was rebutted and argued that she didnt know why. The thing is, it wasnt him who arranged the seat. There was no apology at all, and no look of embarrassment at all. Individual waiters can actually treat guests who have done nothing wrong according to their own preferences. Is this really appropriate? Is it fair for everyone to receive the same salary and let waiters with good attitudes deal with the consequences of the behavior of individual colleagues? Very bad experience. Will not be returning.
Authentic Cantonese cuisine
Good dinner yesterday with 2 friends. The Hot and Sour soup was very good!
It`s not REAL Chinese cuisine. I was in Chine plenty times.
I love rice, shrimp and pad Thai
The services are friendly ! The food was delicious! If you like to eat Cantonese food and steamed fish, highly recommended!
Very poor experience at Papa Jackie. Does not live up to expectations at all. Everything is thickened with an insane amount of cornstarch, the seafood chow mein was essentially flavourless, the pork wonton soup was not flavourful either and the wrapping was very thick. Everything was very low quality, would not recommend.
The food is ordinary (in my opinion) but its good service!
I love everything there if I could I would go there every day
Delicious food and service
This restaurant will force people to give a certain amount tip. No matter how is the service
Servers were really nice and the food came out very quickly. My family and I ordered- General Tao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs, Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein with veggies, beef and broccoli, salt and pepper shrimp and fried chicken. Food was very flavourful and generous portions. Kid-friendliness: They provide children utensils and plates
Best Chinese-style seafood feast restaurant ever! It was SO AMAZING. The Hong Kong-style crab was insanely flavorful . I ll definitely be back with more people for another feast!
We ordered through Uber Eats and were really pleasantly surprised. We ordered spring rolls, steamed shrimp and pork siu mai balls and a pad thai dish. Everything was very hot and fresh. The flavors were excellent, especially for the meatballs. The portions are generous, there were 2 of us and we had enough for dinner the next day. Clearly we are going to try again, but in a restaurant.
Good service, authentic food in unexpected location.
Food was great. Lots of wok hei flavor. Best chinese food in Quebec. As good as chinese food in Toronto and thats saying a lot. Definitely hidden gem.
Restaurant which serves very good and hearty dishes. To try with friends, the dishes can be shared!
Very good and delicious
If anyone is calling this authentic or good food, theyve never had good chinese food. Soggy fried chicken filet, toxic tasting chemical sauces, poor flavour on all dishes (5 of them). Just sub par food all around. Not digestible either. Worse on the way out than the way in . Go anywhere else! Food
Nothing unforgettable. Ive been twice and I dont remember which dish is good
Favorite restaurant with favorite foods.
Good food, fast service, friendly staff. But sometimes a little too salty...
Possibly one of the best Chinese restaurant Ive been too. Delicious, tasty, good amount, just yum. You can pretty much order anything and it will be guaranteed delicious. Update from my first review a few years ago. STILL delicious and so tasty. Yummy in my belly. My kids love Cantonese chow mein.
A decent Cantonese restaurant with authentic taste. In addition to the dishes on the menu, the soup and Cantonese dessert (10$) are worth trying. There are many customers and the dining environment is not elegant. Mandatory 18% tip makes me feel uncomfortable.
Maybe it was because it was Friday, the portion and taste of the dishes were far different from usual. The older service staff looked unhappy the whole time. I will never go there again on weekends.
Higher end chinese food with classic Chinese restaurant atmosphere (i.e. cramped tables, lots of loud patrons, etc). Go there for the food and company.
Average food, below average service, and above average price.
Very good service, good food, the ginger beef was particularly tender. But I had to remove one star, the parking is terrible, many spaces are reserved for other businesses and also the spaces are extremely narrow, an ideal place to damage your precious car.
Feeling very good
Very bad. I haven t ordered the food yet. I wanted to order more napkins. The Chinese-speaking waiter couldn t understand. He had to say napkin to understand. Then he said, isn t there one on the table? Then he went to get some napkins and threw them directly on the table. , no evaluation of the dishes, very poor service
Worthy of the Cantonese population in Brossard, behind this questionable Papa Jackie storefront is a rather well decorated restaurant offering a menu of classic Chinese/Cantonese cuisine. The fried rice with salted fish is remarkable, the other dishes we tasted are very good, an option that has nothing to envy of the biggest brands in Montreal. An address that would have deserved a 5 star if only there had not been a mistake on the dish to take away the leftovers; an oily lid, visibly used, it happens a mistake, but the waiter who puts it on the counter without giving a new one, a 2nd attempt resulting in a lid that does not match the bowl, then a 3rd request which results in a disastrous return of the same dirty lid which ended up on the pile of lids (perhaps by another inattentive waiter)... On the 4th request, it was finally ok, without drama despite everything. In short, take with a grain of salt. The place still seemed clean. Trilingual menu FR, EN and Chinese, except special pages in Chinese, very distressing but not surprising since they are not the only ones to have this. I hope to one day understand the entire menu at Chinese restaurants. Parking: In front of the restaurant in the commercial section, not enough during rush hour
Delicious A special note is that they do not sell drinks/alcohol. You have to bring it yourself (corkage free). Be sure to make a reservation Its noisy because there are a lot of Chinese people.
The food is good.
Good and cozy for small familly of 4 with 2 toddlers. Booster chair available. They even brought baby plates and bowls safe proof for the kids. Food was very tasy. We ordered corn chicken soup, papa jackie fried rice and porc chop salt and pepper. My kids love it. Parking: Parking is free but space is limited Kid-friendliness: Has kid friendly ustensiles and chairs
Its getting more and more unpalatable. The fried beef river can jump up when dropped on the floor. There are too many radishes under the plate. Did I order a big radish? The average price of radish is 30. It s so different from before the epidemic.
A friend wanted me to discover this authentic Asian restaurant. When he told me the name Papa Jackie I asked him if he was in the wrong restaurant. The welcome and impeccable service, once ordered the food arrives quickly. We had the sweet and sour soup as a starter and I admit it is very good with a well-balanced taste of lemon. The soup is not cheap like some restaurants, here there are even shrimp inside. Then we had giant shrimp in lobster sauce, beef with broccoli, Cantonese chow mein and steamed rice. Everything was excellent, it s tasty!!! Everything inside is clean (even the toilets) although the dining space is a bit small given the popularity of this restaurant.
Great place to get authentic Chinese outside downtown Montreal in Brossard. Staff is very friendly and the food is really good. Portion sizes for the dishes are perfect. The restaurant was also busy at dinner which is a good sign. Ill be back for sure.
Very nice surprise
Doesn t cash include tax? The price of the dish is 98. The waiter said that tax is included in cash. When paying, the tax is 113, plus a tip of 131. Money is not the key, what about playing with people? Are you the only one smart? How can you have such thoughts when opening a restaurant?
If you like seafood prepared in a typical Chinese style then you should enjoy it. The restaurant was clean and frequented by Chinese customers so must be good.
Best hot and sour soup and beef curry stir fry. The flavors were clean, simple and absolutely delicious. The beef was perfect. Im going back and bringing my family. Also, the service was very good, quick and very respectful. Thank you. Kid-friendliness: Very family oriented restaurant
Super good
Its the worst place to eat. I had the worst experience with the waiters, being really rude. I asked questions about the food without any good answer. We went to the place to enjoy and see the quality of food. From all the Chinese restaurants, this is the worst. Not recommended. I will never come back there. I will bring .y business elsewhere.
Had diarrhea after the dinner .. their food tasted awful
Our go to chinese restaurant for some authentic cantonese cuisine. Always a great place to dine in with friends and family and especially with the kids! Always full with a full parking lot, that speaks for itself. So far the food has never disappointed us and it s still one of our favorite in the Greater Montreal area.
Personally, it s the best Chinese restaurant in Montreal.
Excellent, very good service, I recommend.
Very good Chinese dinner to share with family. Very large variety of dishes, each one as good as the other. Excellent discovery
Super fresh ingredients, clean, very authentic, best won ton soup ever.
Great food and service, I would bring my family next time
My friend suggested me that place for authentic chinese food. And i wasn t disappointed. The food was amazing , the portion was pretty decent for the price. I ll definitely go back there in an another time.
Great food !!!
Food is always great, service is on point!
When I went in to pick up my order that I ordered by phone, I was answered very stupidly by a rude employee. Then When I get home, I notice things are missing from my order. Very disappointed
I really cant imagine how the service is worse than I can imagine, from the way the table is served to the cashier, theres nothing to say when the customer calls, the customer doesnt finish talking, then leaves the plate of food on the table and it gets chipped. When it comes to paying, the customers attitude requires the customer to tip and give more with such a service attitude???seriously this restaurant and doesnt even have a word of thanks really the overly rude service .rude and rude.
Service is very bad, I dont know they dont have money or what, they serve food Brocken plate, the service man he act like we are annoying him he not evan listen us, and there have a two kind of pay option one tex anther with out tex. my wife give him more then 15% tips but he ask more tips is like force, its too much disappoint. fast and last time.
My go-to Cantonese restaurant in the south shore. All my family members love the food here. The service is always fast and they always try to accommodate kids. I cannot say i like every dish but there are a lot of good choices. They renovated the restaurant couple years ago, so its a perfect place for hosting friends and family events. Parking: Depends on the day, there are free parking lot in the front of the restaurant but on a busy day, it gets filled really fast Kid-friendliness: Very kid-friendly, the staff always tries to accommodate the younger ones in the family
Authentic food, perfect for large family meals for important events. Own. The meat is fresh and the ingredients available are varied.
It was very good! My friends and I will definitely go back!
If you are looking for authentic South Eastern Chinese cuisine without going all the way to Chinatown, here is PAPA JACKIE for you!. The food is amazing and the price is fair!
The first time I went there I liked the main meal (ginger chicken) and the sweet and sour soup but the roll was way too oily, really. The second time, I liked it a lot less, sautéed beef and shallot noodles (bathed in oil), soup (good), roll (still too much in oil). The service is good, but although I give tips for a take out, dont expect to receive a glass of water while you wait. The base is simple, not very healthy because everything is bathed in oil. I give 3.5.
The food is very authentic. I had, spicy pork chops, beef and broccoli, fried rice and some noodles. Overall everything was really good, especially the pork chops. The taste and presentation is much like Wing Phat - both restaurants are very good and definitely worth the detour
Good food but service very variable from time to time
We didnt have the chance to sit down and eat inside but ordering takeout was the right choice! Great portion of food and extremely tasty. The lemon chicken tasted so good! Would eat food from here again!
The service and the food was excellent. Prices were very reasonable. Could be the best Chinese on the South Shore.
Tasty, miam . Huge plate, everything was great. Table near to each other. Need to réservé if not waiting line is long.
Catastrophic food. Everything was overcooked. Chicken and vegetable chow mein...chicken with no seasoning and 2 stems of bock choi. General tao chicken: $20 for a chicken dish. No vegetables, no rice. If at least we could find chicken among the pieces of fried fat that I was served. If I owned a restaurant, I would regret the days when I decided to go out on my own. The best thing that could have happened to this restaurant is that it closed.
Chipped dishes and tea pot which I consider as heath risks. Shrimp not de-veined. Dishes too salty and generic taste. For me, its not clean!
Tasty
Great prices, lovely staff and divine food.
One of the best healthiest well priced foods you can get. My favorites are Broccoli and beef Pad thai Food : 5/5 |
Typical Chinese cuisine with some Asian variation. Large table with turntable for serving the different dishes served. Generous and very good food, good and fast service.
Very bad experience!!! The lady there compelled me to get back to increase my tips and said that i should pay 15% tips and not less!! She was very arrogant! It s illegal in Quebec to force someone pay a certain % tip!!! This restaurant should be reported and banned!!!
Order the food through Uber Eats and not very good, General Tao chicken was soggy, wet and not tasty at all. Rice was wet too. I do not recommend at all especially for delivery
A very clean ordinary chinese restaurant with extremely wonderful food and portions.
Food is delicious and varied
I loved it, everything was so good.
Great food express services excellent g tao
Very good. Good authentic food
Great restaurant, typical food
Excellent Chinese food and best sert
Hk style dishes. Very good but a bit hectic to get a table 07/2021 update Went back for a family supper recently. Food was still very good and the dishes were well representing the Cantonese way of making delicious cuisine. Definitely a must for Chinese/Cantonese food lover. The portion are decent and everything tasted fresh.
Great flavors on the food. I would recommend this to anyone who havent visited this place yet. Although, the place is not parking friendly.
good chinese food on the shore
Its just delicious, Ive tried 3 dishes so far and its amazing.
Quality food. Special request made online respected (no pork and pick-up one hour later). On the other hand, the person I spoke to on the phone to make sure that my request would be respected, very rude and not interested, hung up on me.
Papa Jackie is truly a good Chinese restaurant. Live seafood also available. Hot pot frid rice is to be tried. Youll have to come back often to try different things on the menu. Some dishes may take more time than othersto come out from the kitchen. They remain very efficient even with the restaurant full and oh my does ut get full quickly. Ive been a few times and was always pleased with how it tastes.
Great food. Decent service :). BYOB
Can merchants add many dishes that are not available on Uber Eats? There are so many dishes that I want to eat that are not available None of the super delicious dishes that I eat in dine-in are available Thank you very much to the merchant if you can add them
Very good chinese restaurant for « montreal » area because the others are very average. Their salty fish fried rice and pad sew are top tier. Everything is good tbh + its a bring your own wine! Food
Wow, it was a great discovery to go to this restaurant. There, one will find Vietnamese food in a wide variety of dishes and desserts. Good customer service, very fast and efficient. Please note that you can bring your own drink.
Had some doubts. But really enjoyed the whole experience. Our waiters were all awesome!!
Great cantonese food. A bit pricier than other chinese restaurants, but justified by the great tasting dishes and good portion sizes
Really clean and great flavor Kid-friendliness: I was with my 29 months daughter Food : 5/5 |
No one takes care of you...
There was a waitress with short hair and a very bad attitude.
It had been years since I had set foot in a typically Chinese restaurant, the last tasteless restaurants in Chinatown had made me hate this cuisine, I was passing through Brossard and I stopped for dinner at Papa Jackies, 20 customers all Chinese were seated at the table , already its a good sign, then comes the sweet and sour soup, the best that I have eaten in recent years, I have regained a taste for Cantonese cuisine,
Terrible service, actually no service at all except giving water and plates. But they ask for tips blatantly. Food is just mediocre. Will never go there again.
Such good food. Very relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Our favorite Chinese restaurant on the south shore. Family friendly!
Nice place for a family meal! So many choices on menu. Vegetarian options: Lots of options. Parking: Parking lot has limited space. Kid-friendliness: Big tables so kids not a problem.
Great place to share food as a group! The dishes are delicious.
A family sweet place , but just make sure to love Chinese food
The quality leaves something to be desired because of too many people...?
Best Chinese food in Montreal metropolitan area. I am Chinese and quite foodie, honestly the only Chinese restaurant that worths the price in probably whole Quebec.
Realy good food.
Best typically Chinese restaurants I have eaten and what can I say about the service, ultra fast, exceptional food quality.
Amazing food
Good is excellent, but the service for small tables (2) sucks. They just ignore you. Food
Probably one of the best Chinese restaurant in brossard. Its a bring your own wine which is nice. For weekends it is recommended to call ahead for reservations otherwise the wait time can be long. The food was very good and service was good! Food : 5/5
Always satisfied
We went to Papa Jackies with high expectations as they are highly rated sad to say the food was just your one of the mill Canadian Chinese food
I ordered Dad s seafood meal, which was pretty good. I ll try another set menu next time!
Classic Chinese restaurant. Great quality and choices. I recommend
Good chinese restaurant with fairly good food. The wonton was a bit disappointing with celery chunk(not usual/genuine at all) but had hand made noodles.
Authentic Chinese food. Good vegetarian options. Kind staff. Diners lingered at their tables after to talk, even at lunch. Vegetarian options: Not many places have good mushroom and tofu dishes!
Food is good. Very busy
Best in the south shore
The typical Cantonese taste! The milk tea is really good. The table is quickly served.
If you want an authentic Chinese cuisine feel, highly recommended! If you want a Chinese cooking experience, I highly recommend!
numb
Simply delicious food. Traditional Hunan and Szechuan cuisine of almost endless variety. Very fresh ingredients. Nice decor and efficient service round out the satisfying experience. Tip: come with several friends so you can sample a good variety of dishes. Lots of tables for six.
Delicious and good service. The boneless chicken feet are great!
Amazing food and amazing service! Ordered the lobster and it was delishhh! Cant wait to comeback!
Beautiful place, attention A1 very nice waiter. The food very very good. Congratulations
Me and my husband try this place because one of our friends recommended many times! And we love it! So tasty, great ambiance and very good service.
Our server was extremely rude and impatient! He would snap at us because we would order too much or ask for too much. He came to see us once and we constantly had to ask other employees for assistance! This is too bad because the food is good but don t expect any kind of kindly service . Makes it embarrassing for them to ask for a tip.
Great food but the service was horrible. The server was rude to me and my family. At the end everyone around us got orange as a courtesy but he didn t propose anything to us. We had a talk to his boss and the server didn t apologize. Last time going there.
There are many delicious dishes and the prices are reasonable.
Great chinese restaurant in South Shore. If you are looking for a good traditional chinese restaurant from China-South, this place is for you. Parking may be an issue during rush hours. Food is great and service is very quick.
I had two meals, both were good. I will go there again if I have the chance. I give it a thumbs up.
Really amazing Chinese food. I cant believe this is so close to my house, we are blessed.
The service is excellent for a Chinese restaurant, the food is good and the manager Ken is caring about customers services. I strongly recommend this restaurant Parking: When its busy, its hard to find parking
