86 St Paul St, Burlington, VT 05401, United States
Trendy hangout serving all-day breakfasts in quirky surroundings, with vegan options.
My husband and I always try to make time for breakfast at the Friendly Toast when we’re in Burlington. The vibe is fun and upbeat, with quirky decor, fun menu names, and old school cartoons on the TV. The staff seem to truly enjoy their job and always offer good advice on menu items and friendly service. The food is unique and delicious! My newest favorite is the spicy salmon avocado toast. Their drink list is super fun and tasty too! Definitely worth the wait!
We made a point to visit more than once during our stay in Vermont during a recent work trip. I wish this place was closer to my home back in the DC area! I loved the Chicken and Waffles 🧇 (loved having the savory corn in the waffle!!! Then the added fun of me getting to drowning them in Vermont Maple syrup was 🔥 and the hot cider wad such a great eating experience for this foodie. (Add the liquour to your cider since they have a bar, too)!! I always love a good cup of hot, black coffee (which they had as well). The menu offers a huge selection and variety which is nice because we even if you're a regular here you really could mix things up with trying something new almost every time you stopped in. The food was always cooked perfectly and served in a visually appealing manner. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming- which makes a difference these days. It's not easy smiling 24/7 but these guys are a great crew. 100% would return. I would 100% recommend. I am 100% sad I can't go there for my weekend brunch spot being so far away from this place!!!
Had the best time at Friendly Toast! The minute you walk in, you’re met with so much joyful energy. Not to mention the funky decor, which adds to the experience. The food was top-notch! Our server Chloe really enhanced our experience, she was so kind and attentive! We loved everything about this place- if you’re ever in Burlington, you need to check this place out!
Great brunch spot, as they advertise brunch all day. Staff was very friendly, food was very good. Be sure to try the cookie monster pancakes! There can be a line but it moves pretty quick. Can sit at a table or at the bar, both equally good service. Great selection of food. Our group had the breakfast tacos which were good and very filling, the avocado toast was good but kinda small, breakfast burrito which was good and basic, and blueberry pancakes which were huge. We also split the cookie monster pancakes which were amazing, it looks and smells very sweet but it actually does not taste that sweet, a great balance of sweet and savory. The cookie butter was great! Good selection of breakfast drinks too, between the mimosa selections and the adult coffee. The maple bourbon was a favorite.
Very busy on a Sunday morning. Little wait but no problem . Food was ok. Toast was burned. But Liked the Oreo pancakes. Can’t complain about the service as there was none at all.
The place is nice but judging by the previous reviews it's overrated. We had the chorizo benedicts and the potatoes were burned and looked old (see picture), the avocado on the guacamole was black, the coffee was very strong like no fresh. The place and the service are very nice though.
Went here with my group of friends from all over. Service was awesome, and our waiter was very friendly and charismatic. We all got different things. All were good, but a crowd favorite were the menu items using bulgogi. Their jumbo tater tot appetizer was also a highlight. Soooo good. The decor inside and vibes were really neat. I also left my engagement ring in the bathroom, panicked, called them, and they stayed a bit after closing to wait for me to come back and get it. Cannot thank them enough for that. Between the vibes, hospitality, and food, I recommend giving it a visit.
This brunch bar was the greatest. Every item we ordered was Delectable, ambiance like a diner and Nick was the nicest, personable and friendliest waiter we have ever met. Thanks Nick for making our 1st brunch visit memorable. We will be back. Your gang from Montreal
Cozy place with a friendly staff, my eggs Benedict and my potatoes were cold though
Great food and excellent service
One of the best brunch I ve ever had ! Their pancakes are bloody delicious. The staff is really nice, and so the atmosphere. Would recommend this place 1000% !
Very busy but pretty worth the wait
We liked their Chorizo Benny.
The place is very nice! Great vibe. I went for the special pumpkin pancake and they were delicious, but my friend got the fried chicken waffle and it was SO disapointing.
So many items on the menu looked good, it was hard to choose one!
Do not order a drink here they were awful full of sugar no alcohol too sweet to drink. Doesn t tell you they are charging a 10% alcohol tax. Nowhere else we went charged us tax
The staff is warm and friendly, but no way this place deserves the good reviews written here for their breakfasts. The ham and bacon are pre-made before they warm it up and serve it hard and dry as cardboard. The sourdough bread lost its sour somewhere, the pancakes are average and the home fries shouldve stayed home.
Great food, nice wait staff
Love it , food is great, staff and atmosphere are amazing.
Delicious food and our server was so personable and attentive. Go here!
Food was burnt to a crisp on more than one occasion. Too expensive and little of a portion for such a constant careless mistake
Swag music 5 stars
Cool dinner with many gluten free options!! Omelette and pancakes !!
Had a few vegan options that were delicious! Service was also top notch!
Waited forever for our food. Was very disappointed when we finally got it. I had the chicken and waffles, poor choice. Plus, it was cold. I had had it before a couple of years back n it was so awesome but this time it was horrible for the price. Chicken was so tough and over cooked I could hardly cut it. I found maybe 3-4 crumbles of bacon n maybe 2 kernels of corn. Chicken breast was cut into 3 pieces and small. You get nothing else with it for 19.00. Total rip off. The other 2 people got the chicken cordon Bleu Benedict at least theirs was warm but ham was so thin you could see through it. I will never come back here again. Way over priced for what you get.
Incredible food, great drinks, fun decorations, friendly staff
Great service great atmosphere just the food was a little bit too oily for me
We are leafers, and we invaded Burlington. After trying trendy brunch spots, this place is my favorite. It was clean, the music wasn t so loud and our waitress, Pippa, was amazing. The food is excellent and we should have come here everyday. The silverware was clean and I didn t see any flies unlike at the Skinny Pancake. Vegetarian options: I dont eat beef or pork, so there was chicken sausage and turkey bacon there.
This place understands and tends properly to food allergies. The food is great and the service is comparable. I love coming here with my family for breakfast Dietary restrictions: Gluten free - dairy free available vegan and vegetarian options as well, including vegan cheese!
Food was cold.
Absolutely best breakfast I have had in recent memory which I might add is pretty good! Service was fantastic, atmosphere was groovy, food was digging it out of this world.
Blueberry Lemon Curd Pancakes were great. We came back the next day to try other menu items.
Staff is friendly and attentive. Their food is great! With the Monster Breakfast, you can choose the flavour of the pancake as well. They are also very accommodative and aware (would ask) of food allergies. Vegan/Vegetarian options for protein! That is a plus! :) Dietary restrictions: They cater vegetarian, vegan, gluten free on menu. You can also inform the staff of your allergies.
Come hungry! We had the best brunch at The Friendly Toast. Instead of waiting 45 minutes for a table, we sat at the bar and got served right away. We ordered Meg s American Breakfast Burrito and the Chicken Cordon Bleu Benedict. Both were the best we ve had. The Benny was beautiful, huge, and delicious. The burrito was perfectly crispy on the outside, warm soft and crunchy on the inside. The bacon aioli was the world s most perfect condiment for the burrito. Virgin Bloody Mary was awesome as well. Our servers were attentive and friendly.
No more ranch dressing, and no more jelly at the counter. These are staples that should be brought back.
The food is excellent and the staff is awesome! The decor is wow !! I really recommend this place
Great breakfast and awesome home fries
**EDIT TO ADD: Matt was once again great and provided the most authentic and heartfelt apology we could have asked for. He assured me that he spoke at length with both women who were involved in the situation that caused the original review. I am 100 % satisfied with Matts resolution, and we will give Friendly Toast another shot. THANKS MATT! I placed an order online for delivery for our luncheon to be delivered to our office. There was an entire situation that occurred after that, but what it boils down to is DoorDash being assigned to deliver the order, and the dasher stealing the food and then cancelling the order. I called the establishment and was advised that they couldnt refund me, and to contact DoorDash. So, I contact DoorDash and finally was told that because the order was cancelled through DoorDash, the funds were returned to the merchant and that the refund would need to be through the establishment. So, by the time all of this got figured out, the company was closed. I called the following day and spoke with the manager, Matt. Matt was GREAT. He was extremely apologetic and advised that he would imitate the refund. I assumed that had been done, so I thought nothing of it - until today. My financial controller advised that only $18.69 of the total $83.63 was refunded. So, I called up the merchant again. The first time I called, I spoke with a woman who I believe said her name was Angelica (or something similar) I asked to speak to a manager immediately to try and avoid explaining the entire thing to someone who wasnt a manager, who I would need to explain everything to again. She asked why I wanted to speak to a manager, so I explained everything. After explaining the entire situation again, she advised that I was wrong, and DoorDash would need to initiate the refund on their end. I told her that no, thats not the case. I called and spoke to the manager, Matt, and he was in agreement with me on who the refund needed to come from, and said he initiated it, and again asked to speak to a manager. She set the phone down (did not place me on hold, I could hear bits and pieces of her explaining the situation to someone else) and then came back on the phone and again insisted that I would need to contact DoorDash. At this point, I am irritated. I asked for a 2nd time to speak to the manager - she advised that she was a manager, and the other manager was going to tell me the same exact thing, I said thats okay - thank you and waited to be transferred, or to have the other manger come on the line but head a click and the call ended - so I was hung up on. I called right back, and spoke to a different woman - I asked for the manager and was transferred to a woman by the name of Alyssa. I re-explained everything for a 3rd time, and was told the same thing. I told Alyssa that no - I spoke to Matt and was persistent that I needed THEM to do the refund. Alyssa then asked me if I ordered online or through DoorDash - I advised that I ordered from their website - I never went on DoorDash s website - I was on THEIR site and chose delivery. At that point, she advised me that in those instances, YES, the merchant is responsible for the refunds but that she (as a manager herself) was unable to initiate any refunds, and I would need to wait for Matt to return. She then told me that employees dont always know the difference between ordering on their website for delivery (where the merchant would be responsible for refunding) and ordering THROUGH DoorDash for their food. I then told her that maybe employees should ASK before assuming and being so, so rude when she was wrong the entire time. I tried asking her the name of the previous lady who hung up on me and Alyssa refused. Alyssa advised that she would take care of speaking with the previous employee. There was just an extremely condescending tone between both women, but especially the first one, and I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant in my life. Now I have to wait until Saturday for a simple refund that should have happened over two weeks ago.
Great breakfast and great service.
We were looking for a place off of the main street for a late lunch and found this. Fantastic food and great service with my 2 kids. Dont be fooled by the menu being largely breakfast and brunch either, I had their korean beef style rice bowl and it was phenomenal. Our server was also kind enough to suggest taking our kids down to the aquarium/science center on the waterfront which also turned out to be great. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would go again in a heartbeat.
Great spot, food was very good. Ice Coffee is amazing. Homemade tator tots! Parking: Ez Kid-friendliness: Lots of kids
The food here has gone downhill a lot in the last two years. Super cool staff Clean place Some days are better than others
Probably one of the best breakfast and lunch spots in Burlington right now. Great staff?
We had a great breakfast here. Nice decor. Excellent menu. Great food. Will go back.
Recommended! Nice place. Friendly staff and good food (a bit greasy though). The diner had a nice and cozy interior.
The people were very nice and the cuisine warm. Flamboyant decor.
Tasty atmosphere. Hypnotically nice staff. The water glasses have the cutest and most enchanting design in the business and at the same time strikingly easy to steal: another one of gods little tests
I left a dull IHOP and came here because of the ratings. Walked in and had breakfast at the bar. It was so clean there and organized. The lighting and the decorations above the bar was cool! The menu is large and everything looks so good.
10+++ cant wait until the house hot sauce is for sale
Bar seating. Nick and Alessandra were amazing. I have a health issue and needed to eat. They were so accommodating. The breakfast was amazing. Cant wait to come back. Drinks are perfect. Mango mimosa and Bloody mary
Absolutely delish food with great service this restaurant is also so cute inside and such a vibe! get the chicken and waffles and the iced coffee! lots of love from toronto! can t wait to come back
The best Friendly Toast location I have been to. Great atmosphere and the food was amazing. There is street parking and a garage right next door, super easy to get to.
Kid-friendliness: They had incredibles playing on a tv and there s a kid menu with fun entrees Food
Everyone loved their food and the mimosa flight was so fun.
Delicious breakfast! We each had the monster plate (?), which comes with two pancakes, two eggs, breakfast potato s and choice of bacon or sausage.
Fun, large diner plus many unique dishes. Something for everyone including a long bar.
The food was great and the service was lacking a little but the atmosphere made up for it. We would definitely go back simply because the food was SO GOOD!
Went here for a group family breakfast. The decorations are super fun. The menu is interesting and the food is good. Service was excellent. Im looking forward to going back and trying more things. They even sell really great apparel and other merchandise. Parking: On weekends, or Sundays at least, the parking is free. Kid-friendliness: Lots of great things to look at on the walls to keep kids busy. Good kids menu.
The cookie monster pancakes were outstanding, as was the service. $15 for a stack of pancakes feels a little steep, but they were great and came with a small glass of locally sourced maple syrup.
Went here twice on our visit because we loved it so much. Food is delish. They are very allergy friendly which is helpful for my husband (dairy/gluten) Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free/vegan pancakes and can keep other food items safe for food allergies
Definitely an overrated place The food is not worth it for the price they charged: 1. food is not served warm 2. Small portion for what they re charging (maybe good enough for breakfast but def not brunch) 3. Sourdough, toast and hash brown we ordered are soggy, not crispy at all The waffle fries is soggy too
Wonderful place for breakfast. Atmosphere is playful. Great selection. Parking: Street parking Food : 5/5 |
Very good food and cocktails
We were supposed to have a brunch here but the lady who assisted us was so rude. She told us to go out so rudely cause they don t have any availability. I mean we get that your place is full of people but does it cost you to be kind?
Great place and the food is amazing
Food was ok. The atmosphere had a Ben & Jerrys/Grateful Dead vibe. I enjoyed it. Food
I love this place. My son and I go frequently. My husband is not a huge fan but he likes more classic dishes. But I really encourage you to be adventurous with their menu. They are very accommodating with special requests as well. We have never had bad service. And their expresso martini is outstanding! Also pay close attention to their busy times. Especially on weekends. Try and go on an off time or be prepared to wait. There is a reason they are busy. It is very popular, especially with locals.
The Friendly Toast is an adorable & delicious restaurant! Our server was kind, helpful and super informative. The waffle I had was so fluffy and so yummy! The fruit in the fruit salad was clearly fresh and clean. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a yummy and welcoming place for brunch.
The best food I ve had in Burlington! We had breakfast takeout and it was phenomenal. Every dish we got was so much better than anticipated. The breakfast egg rolls are out of the world amazing! I could eat two of those apps by myself. The some like it tot was so good too! The sauces they add are the best touch to each dish. The churro FT sticks were delicious! The sauce that comes with those is pretty spicy but it s on the side so it s perfect. The breakfast burrito was amazing - the bacon aioli, AMAZING. I can t recommend this enough and will be getting food from here every time we visit. Hopefully next time we can eat inside as the atmosphere of the restaurant was so bright and fun!!!
We felt like we were at The Max from Saved by the Bell!! Hehe Great location, wonderful food, and delightful service! They handled my food allergies wonderfully and the food was DELICIOUS! The gluten free pancake was massive and we ended up taking half of it home for lunch but oh man it was so good! Highly recommend this for breakfast, wonderful spot to sit back and enjoy a delicious meal! Dietary restrictions: I came in with two food allergies and they handled them wonderfully!
My favourite brunch in all of Burlington! The way their waiting list works is so good because you can walk around while you wait but it usually goes by fairly quickly. Every meal I ve tried has been perfect. My personal favourite is the Huevos Rancheros. Every beverage and cocktail is delicious and they often have seasonal specials. The staff is also always extremely friendly and welcoming.
This place is a vibe.
It was restrictive. Not to friendly
This is the best Brunch place in Burlington!! My family has lived here for 10 years and Friendly Toast is always a place all my family can find something they love. It s a fun and friendly place with amazing food!
I loved it here! I wish I lived nearby and could come back and try so many more things on the menu. The pancakes were amazing, and the Some Like it Tots were so good too. Went on a very busy weekend and the service was still great. Food : 5/5
I had the Irish Benny and it was fantastic. Lunch and dinner felt anticlimactic to me after eating breakfast here. The flavors and taste left me wanting to try everything on the menu. The service, from Nick, was exceptional.
Fantastic food and great customer service.
My new favorite restaurant in Burlington! Best burger Ive ever had
Excellent food, amazing service, really fun atmosphere
I like the raspberry lemonade. Kid-friendliness: Good Food : 5/5 |
Good breakfast food, young crowd
Not friendly. I pulled a chair up to our partys group & was jumped right away & told I couldnt do that. Ok. Then our groups food came & a manager came over to us & told us they had a policy that we cant order food if food already arrived to the table. Um what? They offered us another table but we wouldnt be with our group so we said forget & walked out. The atmosphere was toxic with snooty waitresses.
Have been here a few times with friends and it s an ok restaurant. For what it is, I feel they are over priced. $4 for a cup of coffee and never asked if I wanted a refill. The average breakfast price is around $20 a plate, And I felt the portions are small. They won t seat you until all your guest are there. We had a few friends that were about 15 mins late and the restaurant manager told them they couldn t serve them. I m sorry WHAT? We haven t had the best of service every time. Went back hoping for the best, needless to say, I won t be back.
This place does not want business!! This place sucks! Dont go there if you want to meet friends for breakfast. They will turn you down if there is a group and you want to sit together. Flabbergasted!
First time there the French toast was delicious I had one piece sourdough one piece cinnamon raisin staff was very friendly coffee was strong real maple syrup place was clean bathrooms were clean definitely will go back
Kid-friendliness: A great restaurant to go with kids!! Food
Very delicious food with lots of great options. Everything was delicious and service was fast and friendly.
Horrible experience this AM with the employee taking information for seating. Just goes to show that you give someone a little bit of power and it goes to their head! Very rude not a good listener and just should not work in customer service! Very immature attitude. I guess people can be overwhelmed with customers.
This place is super cute, the staff are very nice and the food is delicious. It also has a lot of gluten-free options. Dietary restrictions: I have celiac disease and the wait staff let me know that all my food would be prepared desperately without my even asking. The food was delicious I would come back here in a second!
Breakfast was tasty. Service was good too.
This place was amazing! In our short trip we came twice it was good, and such a huge selection. Anything you might want for breakfast, they got it. And a bunch of good mimosa options if thats your thing. The portions of hashquiche were massive, and the chicken and waffles were also quite ample. Then the avocado toast was quite good, and the chilaquiles were way bigger than an appetizer has a right to be. Love this spot for an elevated diner experience
Great breakfast spot, very knowledgeable about gluten and celiac for my wife. Breakfast egg rolls were outstanding. Coffee was ok, head a block west to Nomad for a real good coffee experience.
Food was OMG GOOD!! I had an omelette with mushrooms, tomatoes, goat cheese and spinach with some avocado cilantro dippy stuff. (I LOVE a condiment and they had plenty!!) Insanely good. Then sour dough toast with strawberry jalapeño jam. Omg!! THEN the most amazing cheddar tots sitting in a cheese fondue type dippy stuff that I wanted to bathe in. Oh. My. Gosh!! I wanted 10 more but you only get 4 per order and of course I had to share with fam. My son got the spicy chicken sandwich w home fries. I tried both divine!!! Truly! My bf got a bowl of some kind that was also very tasty but I can t remember what it was since I was enjoying my tots so much!! Oh and the marg flight!! so good!!! The service was great by the chillest of people the first visit!!! 5 stars . However we tried to come back the next day with our entire party of 20. We made a reservation. Were told as soon as the whole party is here, come tell us. So. We waited until the whole party arrived, went to the host table and were told there were several big parties that came in before us and they couldn t seat us together or even at the same time. and we would still have to wait 15-20 minutes PER TABLE of 4-5. Meaning, it could be an hour or more before our whole party was seated, meaning we would be finished an hour a part as well. How did that even make sense?? Granted, the place is smallish. We would take up probably half the restaurant, however, just say no man . There s no way they should ve ever agreed, and I was deeply disappointed. There were many different ways we could have gotten around this sitch, but instead we ate elsewhere and I didn t get those yummy tots I dreamt about having once again before likely never returning to Burly again Ya see, UVM was my kids home for 4 years. It was a great run!! We returned to celebrate their elopement and had the most beautiful visit, however, the Burly vibe hit different this time. And for that I m sad but, I hear Friendly toast is a chain .so there s HOPE FOR MORE TOTS in Boston where my sweet, now married, kid resides with their AMAZING PARTNER!! Til next time, Friendly Toast!!
I love the vibe here, it s relaxed and fun. Food is great and staff are friendly. I especially loved hearing my waitress singing along to Karma in the background during last time I was there - you could just tell she was having a great day. I think this is my cross-border shopping go-to stop.
One of the best bloody Mary s I ve had. The food was great. There s such a huge selection, no one could leave disappointed. Our waitress was so friendly. Old School My Little Pony episodes of n the TV.
What a fun experience! Ive never been here before and what a treat! The waitstaff was so friendly and amazing service. I wish I had got the flight of coffees but inside tried their espresso yourself (soooo good!) And a shandys painkiller ( dont judge I was on vacation and not driving ) The food oh my gosh compliments to the cheff! which I know I hear its hard to find a good one! We got huevos rancheros...and veggie omelet and tried their Churro appetizer I cant wait to come back and try more! Parking: There is a parking lot right next door it was worth the 8$ to park in the cold easily.
Delicious food and drinks, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Only downside is how busy it is because it is so good!
The environment was very decorated all types of fun colors i highly enjoyed. the food wasn t super over priced a little expensive but it was really good, i ve had better eggs benedict but i can t compain at all, it was good. Our server was dope he was super cool and did a good job. If you re looking for some yummy and interesting options i suggest, will definitely be back. worth a try for sure.
Cute little spot with full bar first thing in the mornin!
You will experience a wait and it is well worth it. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are flawless. Wait staff is incredibly attentive, ever present, and they do not do the two bite rule. Their mocktails are great and delicious, especially the sherbet.
I took my 7 year old here for a mom and kiddo date. It was quiet on arrival and they sat us in a large booth where we were able to sit side by side. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable. We built towers out of creamers and played hangman and laughed until we couldn t breathe. Our server was funny and engaged, and while he forgot to include chocolate chips in the pancake order- my son preferred the plain pancakes dusted with sugar. Pancake was the size of a dinner plate- crispy on the outside and fluffy in the center. Just sweet enough you didn t even need syrup! I had the breakfast sandwich with goat cheese and hashbrowns and it was excellent. Looking forward to coming back with the whole family next time.
YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW GOOD THIS PLACE IS
The food was not great for a breakfast place. The toast was cold and not fully toasted. The homefries were cold, and over spiced with pepper. The eggs were good. This was around 10:30 in the morning ,with a small amount of people, so no reason really for cold food. They supply the cheapest kind of jelly. The service was reasonable, and I tipped accordingly. Maybe the atmosphere is supposed to cover up for the food shortcomings? Well be looking for less atmosphere, and better food next time.
Cutest place ever!!! The decor the menu and the service. ALL of it. A sweet little gem in Burlington. Had a flight of breakfast coffees sooo yummy. The oreo pancakes were confection perfection. They really live up to their friendly name. Ill be back!!! Keep it up!
Upbeat breakfast spot with an extensive menu. I got the New Hampshire scramble, and it was delicious my husband got an omelete. We also got Grillo pickle bloody Marys, and they were so good! Very friendly staff.
Definitely go in person! The staff are so nice and fun! Don t use DoorDash for this. I got the Benny which is always flawless, but the one I just got had no hollandaise and the eggs were extremely cooked, until hard boiled. Definitely not ideal for a Benny- but in person it is phenomenal! Try the Jell-O shots!!
We had a great brunch here. Delicious food, clean, great service. Server overheard us wishing someone at the table a happy birthday and put a candle on her sandwich! Very thoughtful (and no singing!!).
This place has such a cool vibe, the art is super cool and random, the food is AMAZING! Our waitress was very nice and super helpful all around 10/ 10 would recommend. We had the churro bite app as the starter with that jam sooooo gooood! And the burrito was amazing
When I tell you this is the spot!!! The breakfast was phenomenal. I wish we had a place this back home in CT. Also the staff was so warm and welcoming, if you get the chance sit with Michael you won t regret it! We ll be back
Superb food options. Their tots and Mac and cheese were awesome
Very happy, thank you for your product.
One of the best restaurants in America!!!! The food, service, drinks, atmosphere, everything was so detailed and thoughtful that it needs to be recognized nationally as the best! I cannot wait to make it back to one. Dietary restrictions: They made it a point to ask about any allergies Kid-friendliness: Very colorful
Kitschy chain restaurant aimed at kids and adults that strive to visit disney world on a yearly basis. food is calorie-laden and unimaginative. There are so many great restaurants in town, this should be a last option.
For $12 dollars for a meal each they give you a tiny portion of it. Kinda makes me wonder if they make it in batches cause I had 1 tiny scrambled egg and 1 piece of bacon even though my boyfriend had the exact same thing as I did. He got more then of the meal then I did
I hope the food tastes better than it looks, this is not the fault of the restaurant, it was delivered looking like this. Oh well... Service is rated on the delivery driver not the spot. Food
Fantastic place! Great food, really diverse drink menu, and a really laid back atmosphere.
It was terrible. We tried going in because the website said there was a 0 minute queue. After, they told us there was a two hour wait when the bar was open and they refused to let us in, instead, they let someone else in. The hostess was very rude towards us. Did not want to serve us. We were on the online waitlist and the hostess told us to get off so she could put us on hers. We later found out when the hostess told her coworker that she couldn t handle us and asked her to take care of us. The coworker then clarified that we were in fact on the waitlist. The hostess was nasty, impatient, and mean.
One of our very favorite brunch places. Strongly recommend the churro bites and the hash quiche.
Brought my college sophomore to breakfast here a couple of months ago. Busy, really bright decor, super friendly and efficient staff. Lots of seating but clearly hard to get into at times (was unable to get in a couple of years ago). Portions good but would like to see the food quality raised a notch or two. IMO a bfast spot, especially one that charges on the higher side, should minimally offer OJ not from concentrate and homemade hollandaise on their benedict. This didnt seem to be the case and was a bummer. If Im mistaken, maybe consider different brands/recipes. My benedict was also chewy and hard to cut, like it wasnt brought out asap. Personal opinion: I prefer unsweetened pancakes...if they have sweet flavoring then syrup becomes redundant. To be fair, the menu did say sweet cream pancakes. My son didnt seem to mind too much but didnt finish his cakes either. I dont know that Id go back when there are other places in the area that do better for less, i.e. Athens Diner.
What a fun and friendly place. Great food options and a wonderful staff
Mimosas, coffee, and food were all incredible. Alessandra was absolutely on top of things at the bar. She was not only super knowledgeable about the menu, but also about the surrounding area! Very friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend the hash quiche!
Wonderful all around. Worth the wait.
Perfect place with some yummy comfort foods
10/10 this place is the best! Great food, brunch cocktails, and vibe w friendly service.
Good food, great service...
We love the toast. We ve been here dozens of times over the years and I have to say it just gets better. The menu is super creative, the decor completely fun and eclectic and service is really friendly and prompt. Extremely busy restaurant, expect to wait. No reservations but use their Yelp wait list, it s great.
Cool spot with super friendly staff. The food was okay, and the prices were even worse. A breakfast plate that already costed $19 didn t include toast for the eggs. I had to pay $6 extra for TWO SLICES OF TOAST. Another extra cost for this plate was adding blueberries on top of my pancakes which came out to a $3 fee for about 10 blueberries.
Im celiac and this was one of the best gluten free experienced Ive ever had. I had a fried chicken sandwich and pancakes. Everything was marked safe and the food quality was incredible. Also dairy free friendly. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free options. Very safe. Everything was marked
Great place - wacky and fun menu with all the breakfast essentials. We got the hash brown quiche (super crispy hash brown cups filled with eggs, etc.) and the veggie omelette. Great coffee and fun atmosphere.
Food was good, a lot of options. Good service. Place was busy, tables are quite close to each other. Felt crowded .Decor is kitchy, unusual. Pricey but that seems to be the norm.
The Friendly Toast in Burlington was wonderful. We sat at the bar, had breakfast, and chatted with other patrons and staff. A fun and friendly atmosphere with great food.
Perfect breakfast experience!
Best waffle
Bread good! Go for the Monster Breakfast.
Amazing rice crispy fried chicken. They also have really good stake stuff. They have cocktails and mocktails as well! Vegetarian options: They have vegan food and gluten free food Dietary restrictions: They have vegan food and gluten free food
The service is great and the staff is very friendly and sweet. The food is never disappointing, the hash quiche was amazing. You cant come to the Friendly Toast and not have a Mimosa flight, you gotta have that!
Good hearty breakfast. Great bread.
Very nice find this Sunday morning. Good atmosphere, impeccable service. Bucolic decor with a retro touch. Well kept and clean place. Parking: Sunday parking is free on the street.
Delicious!
Sooooo good!
Fantastic service to go with the fantastic food and drink!
Nice place, right in the city center. The atypical decoration adds charm. The menu is very large and has both classic and original recipes. Everyone in our group had a great time. There was a lot of waiting though (it took over an hour, but there were 6 of us). Vegetarian options: Several choices across the menu Dietary restrictions: Take allergies into account Parking: You have to find a place on the street Kid-friendliness: Several children on site
Great placd to eat! Great gluten free options.
Loved it, from the food to service . The waitress was really friendly and seemed to enjoy her job.
Great place for brunch and a short walk from downtown Burlington Vermont. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but it was a great meal.
Update 2023. No detectable improvement. Bad coffee, basic food, boutique marketplace prices. -- Update Nov2018: Kudos and happy to see the vt maple syrup menu change, thank you. Now we just need to talk about this coffee.... Tried for the first time today, had to ask for another cup because i thought maybe the taste was from a bad creamer, but nope, a freah pot cup with no additives reveals the worst tasting coffee ive had which includes a number of vending machines across the US. Just unspeakably bad. Bummer. -- Basic commercial foodservice, nothing special unless leveraging alcohol margin in a college city is special, haha. Only thing special about this place is upcharging people $2 to avoid the horrible tableside maple syrup to get a thimbleful of VT maple syrup, in Vermont. Extra star given for friendly service. Updated: French toast was good and reasonably priced. Thanks for the reply but trying to spin a maple syrup upcharge as you supporting local maple syrup economy is, at best, disingenuous. Like thats some kind of localvore marketing, i guess? Hey everybody look at how much this place supports our local maple sugaring industry, you can choose to pay 2.50 for fifty cents of maple sugar... Because its so hard to find good maple sugar to buy in Burlington. Choose a quality product and figure out your plate costs. Looking forward to my next visit.
Yummy breakfast with lots of options and some liquour drinks available if wanted. Place is eclectic and funky. Definitely cute and interesting
My boyfriend and I decided to stop in before hitting the road back to NY. After a Bloody Mary flight and amazing hospitality from the bartender we booked another night. 10/10
Really fun decor, cozy atmosphere, great service, and delicious food.
Had a great breakfast.
Great upbeat breakfast joint. Right sized and full of flavor portions. Kid-friendliness: Crayons and placemats. Food : 5/5 |
A must for breakfast if your in the area
Probably the best breakfast in Burlington. The management and wait staff were superb, and I cannot wait to go again
The food is amazing, and usually the service is too, except for the most recent time i was here. My dad and sister came to visit, so of course I asked to bring them here. The only thing, is that friendly toast does not have espresso drinks. So, we were seated outside, and I told my sister I d grab some Iattes from a few stores down and bring them back. I told my outdoor waitress this, and she said alright sounds good, only for my sister to call me 2 minutes later, saying the waitress told them in a not so friendly way that I m not allowed to bring drinks from another place in. So I walked back empty handed, and the waitress was being extremely timid, it kinda felt like she just didn t wanna be there, and we felt like she really did not like us. So whatever, we ate and it was great food, then left and got lattes. Thing is, I always get a latte before I come here because they do not have espresso, and I ve never been told it wasn t allowed. Either way, she handled it horribly, and just absolutely doesn t wanna be working there because she was acting miserable and petty, talking about us with the hostess outside like we are not only 5 feet away. This experience kinda made me view the friendly toast a bit different.. it is truthfully not very friendly
Absolutely amazing !! The server was awesome! Food was amazing. Vegetarian options: A lot of options Food : 5/5 |
Such a wonderful experience, all due to Sam, GREAT GUY, BEST SERVER EVER! Not only did Sam offer excellent food & beverage choices, Sam went above and beyond with great conversation that was one of the most inspirational and memorable discussion that we were meant to share! Sometimes you meet people who were placed on your path for a reason, Sam has a beautiful story to tell...So thankful that we got to hear it today! Best of luck to you, just keep that attic organized and everything else will fall into place! perseverance is the key to EVERYTHING! Stop in, see Sam, eat great stuff!
This was a trip haha Decor is eclectic and fun. Food was great, but and the portions were more than generous. The entire menu looked promising. We had the chicken & waffles and eggs Benedict with fried chicken. It was a tad soggy so the chicken lost his crunchy texture but the sauce was delicious. They offer a mimosas slab to try all four specialties. Perfect for brunch to share. Service was prompt and all smiles. Will be back, for sure.
Wonderful, funky, breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot. Fantastic Bloody Mary, Bennys, and their home fries are simply delicious! Portions are perfect not too big nor too small! Give them a try for great food, and friendly service!
OMG. How great! Food and drinks were superb. Great service too. Loved it.
The outdoor speakers were a little too loud to have a conversation in the outside seating area.
Love this place. Were visiting from Wisconsin and just walked by and decided to get breakfast. Excellent service and the omelet was perfectly cooked. Will come back next time were in town.
Absolutely amazing. Michael was such a cool server. Food was incredible. Got the seasonal apple and pumpkin bisque and the huevos rancheros. Both were so tasty. Vegetarian friendly too! I cannot recommend enough!
I highly recommend this place if you are looking for good atmosphere and wonderful staff. I would die for Michael.
Burnt potatoes and bland food.. just not a good meal altogether. Service was rushed, barely finished eating that the waiter is bringing you the check. I get it, you need fast rotation but let me finish my coffee atleast. Food
Excellent Bloody Mary s! Food was very satisfying. Would recommend.
If youre in Vermont is a must go. Food was absolutely delish
Picked this place while visiting Burlington- glad we did. Easy 5 stars! Great breakfast choices!! Too many good things to try it s hard to pick! I had Megs American Breakfast Burrito- filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, American cheese & cheddar stuffed jumbo tater tots. Served with home fries. It was delicious!! Hubby had Hash Quiche- two crispy fried hash brown bowls stuffed with scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted red peppers, caramelized red onions & jalapeno-jack cheese. Topped with lime crema & scallions. Served with fresh fruit salad & toast also delicious!! Seriously, I would need to come back 5 or 6 times to try everything I wanted on the menu! Lots of unique items like Cookie Monster Pancakes and Doughnut Stop Believin. I love places that serve breakfast all day!! We came around 1pm and had no wait - it was pretty empty. Our server was nice and he called us friends after every sentence which I thought was fun- I ll be right back with refills friends .. Easy place to recommend for a not boring breakfast!
Friendly is on point here. Plus a big menu with some different and fun choices. Service was quick, attentive and friendly! I had the Hash Quiche and it was good and filling. The hash brown cups were super crispy which I loved.
I love this place.
We absolutely LOVE LOVE the staff here, especially the bartenders! The rest of the staff is amazing too! Very on par for service no matter how busy they are. The staff know us every time we come in, which is when we have money to splurge. I dont care how long the wait is, I will choose this place no matter how many times we have been here. Their food is AMAZING along with their drinks. We cannot come here without buying their flights and specialized seasonal drinks!
This establishment gives new meaning to the word, Exceptional. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. The host was on point and communicative and got us seated ahead of schedule. Our server, Alex was absolutely.on their game (seriously earned a raise based on our visit). They were extremely friendly, fast, efficient, but never felt like we were rushed. The food was fantastic and Alex had numerous suggestions that everyone at the table enjoyed. I had the sklarmageddon omelet with cheese stuffed tater tots (Alex recommended) , side of corned beef hash, and a maple Sriracha (another recommendation). We were up for a 3 day bachelor party weekend and The Friendly Toast was one of the best parts of the weekend.
Just an overall fun and yummy breakfast spot. Only gave it 4 stars cause parking sucks and you have to pay for parking most days
Great food and service.
Love the food! It was our first time.
Great service and yummy food. Very fun and festive environment. We love friendly toast in Portsmouth, NH and this location is a well played replica. Look forward to coming back.
Delicious
Our server, Denise, is the best server I ve had in a long time and I can be a harsh critic. She s the best and they are so lucky to have her!!
Quick Google of breakfast places Burlington found this place and my wife and I went. Great choice! It was packed (prob to be expected on a Sat morn) but we were able to get seated quickly at the bar. Awesome, fun atmosphere...friendly staff...prompt service... delicious food. Would definitely go back! Parking: Metered spots on the street are apparently free on weekends? At least the one I found around the corner from the place was!
Delicious
Food is awesome. Dena rocks.
Met up with my twin sister for some breakfast. Sat at the bar and had a great time! Mimosa flight, burger, salmon toast, margs: all were just as they should be. Server/bar tender was very attentive and helpful (not to mention really good at up-selling...who knew we needed jello shots at 10am? Mustve known we were headed out shopping )
The food and service is always great when I go, and I m especially fond of the mimosa flight. I can t wait to go again to try the spiked coffee flight!
Such a vibe here!!! Love the funky decor- you could spend all day admiring their funky art, random items hanging on the wall etc! We stopped in for breakfast- it was busy but we had no issue being seated right away! Great staff! We love that they have a massive breakfast/brunch menu that INCLUDES vegan choices! 85% of the menu isn t vegan but what they do offer that is vegan- is amazing!! The vegan chocolate chip pancakes were honestly some of the best vegan pancakes I ve EVER had! Super massive- dense- flavorful! Loved that the pancake was moist & soft. Had a side of vegan sausage on the side! The pancakes were so tasty I didn t even need maple syrup for them! That s how you KNOW a pancake is banging! Staff was super friendly! It was a busy day & the food came out quickly regardless! If in the area- the Friendly Toast is a MUST! They have something for everyone & their food is sooooo yummy!!!
Wait staff asks everybody if they have allergies. I was allergic to one of the jelllies on my dish. When I got my plate both foods had a wooden marker in them that says allergy. Forward thinking and shows they truly care about their customers. Dietary restrictions: The accommodated well for my allergy. Parking: The parking situation in Burlington sucks in general. No free parking. Limited parking near The Friendly Toast.
