Charcoal Pit has been my favorite spot since when I was 15, now I am taking my wife and my kid to there. My wife love their burgers. They re huge patty and with loads of toppings. Their chicken souvlaki tastes the same as before, juicy and extremely delicious!! Best souvlaki s in downtown. Very friendly customer service. I would definitely recommend. See ya all again!

I always enjoy coming here on my lunch break. Cant say Ive tried 1 of everything yet. My favorite thing to get here in the Greek Fries with a side of gravy. UPDATE: Been a while since Ive been here .. quality isnt the same. Burger bun was very soggy, and fries were loaded with salt. Thats too bad.

The burgers here are fantastic, hard to beat in Burlington. Never buy a salad, its 20 dollars for about 2 dollars worth of vegetables and 3 dollars worth of meat with some flavourless olive oil.

Such a cute and simple burger joint! The food is really really good and classic. The prices were great too. I had a cheese burger with a salad and a banana milkshake. It was so wonderful to even have the option of a banana milkshake. 10/10. The staff was polite and served the food quickly. It was also air-conditioned in the actual restaurant which was a refreshing twist considering summer heat!

I d heard good things about this place (great little greasy burger place) but was super disappointed. For a burger place called charcoal pit I d have expected fresh burgers charred on a flame but they were thin frozen Costco patties fried on a flattop. Fries seemed fresh and were decent. Tried it once, won t return. I fear this place has its best days well behind it.

Been working in a house around the corner from the charcoal pit and decided to go stop there for a burger. I hadnt been there in years. I used to do security in the downtown core of Burlington, and would frequent the place often at the end of the night. When I walked in there, the place still looked authentic and great, but when I ate the burger, I wasnt very satisfied. The food just didnt taste the same as I remembered it. Its upsetting because I really enjoyed that place a lot, but unfortunately I dont think I will return anymore.

Went to get fries, only customer waiting to order. Person at till taking a phone order. Other two staff ignored me. Worker at till ignored me and went to answer the phone again. I said customer waiting here , he still ignored me. I am 6 -2 and weigh 230, kind of hard to miss. He still wasn t taking my order, so I told him customer leaving . And I won t be back.

Been coming here since the 90s and it s gone through a couple of managers since then. Moved back in the area so I started coming again and the owners and staff now are fantastic. Super nice, food is made to order so you wait a bit but it s quicker than anywhere else on the lakeshore. Quality fast food and good service especially if you come back often!

We stopped in to have a late night burger on a Saturday night (around 10 pm). Service was fast, food was good, but the place was pretty filthy. The back corner looked like someone had a food fight. The bathrooms are really gross. This was once a Burlington legacy. But now, I doubt I ll ever be back.

I drove by a few days ago and noticed this place, it reminded me of restaurants I ate at as a kid in Toronto. Ordered here for the first time as I just moved into the area, and I was not disappointed. Mt wife Id super picky about where we eat, and even she said the food reminded her of childhood burger joints. We ordered a Back Bacon cheese burger combo with fries, and a big pit double cheese bur combo with onion rings. We also ordered a side of fries with gravy. My wife and Ihave no complaints, Thank you for this fantastic experience, we will definitely be ordering again.

Wow. This place has gone downhill . They use to be pretty good but not anymore. The burgers were disgusting! They look and taste like rubber . The fries weren t any better either. No fresh cut fries the new owners cheaped in that as well and now they are frozen and super dry. I highly recommend NOT COMING HERE . One of the worst burger places to date they won t last.

I ordered take out and found my souvlaki wrap completely drenched in the bottom of the bag, totally saturated. The fries also came cold and taste like cardboard. The salad came with yellow lettuce and the dressing is atleast 90% oil with barely any seasoning. Been supporting this place for years but they have definitely declined in service and quality unfortunately..

Best place for generations

This was better when the Greek owned it. New owners don t use beard nets, price for 2 burger combos came to $52!! Large onion rings was 80% full. Quality is going down with each visit New owners haven t renovated this old location. Seating is VERY cramped and outdated. The exit door has a huge square garbage blocking it by 50%. When you go somewhere to eat and won t dine-in because all you hear are the constant jabberings of 3-5 people behind the counter who have no volume control in 50yr/old seating that s cramped and after overpaying for it in a place that clearly hasn t seen a real renovation since the time of Christ . Losing my business.

Looked like a decent spot to grab a burger while in town. I was thinking it would be fresh hambers. Well they definitely are frozen and have little or no taste and have the look and mouth feel of the low end store brand frozen burgers. Price was OK and service was good as well. If you are hungry and dont care about cheep hamburger patties, you will be satisfied, but of you are looking for old school quality as the place presents itself, then you will be disappointed as I was. I would definitely not be back. Ps the fries were good though

I placed an order with UberEats to give them a try as I was craving a burger and homemade cut fries. I ordered the banquet burger combo. The chicken in the burger was raw and not cooked. Its very pink and a bit cold. Which has now led me to feeling very ill. The fries were also over cooked, but because I didnt feel too good after eating the burger, I just tossed the rest out. I suspect that the food was rushed as it was closer to closing (my fault for not checking that prior to ordering), but regardless, the food quality should be at par to avoid food safety issues. Will not be ordering or eating here again after this experience. Please do better as seminole poisoning is not fun to deal with.

Somethings changed with the French fries since the change in ownership. They taste old like theyve been frozen or reheated. Its a shame because the burgers are still good. Ive tried several times and each time Im disappointed, wont be back.

Okay, I never leave reviews for anywhere but I just.. had to. Because their rating is so high and I just don t understand I got a burger and the flavour was odd It tasted like cumin and something else I couldn t quite place Either way, it didn t taste quite right.. and the texture was off I threw it out, literally couldn t eat it.

The food is fantastic for the price. The cleanliness and washrooms not so much. Overall its good enough that I will continue to frequent the establishment. Ill just take my order to go thank you. Hotdog combo with all the toppings and an orange pop! Food

Dropped by for a quick takeout - one of their specialties, gyro dinners. Very prompt and pleasant service and the was food delicious. The serving size was big and will easily be two meals for 2 of us

Needs work. This post will likely be removed by the business. I got the chicken souvlaki dinner. Overall, the dish lacked any flavour or semblance of love and care. Rice was flavourless, fries weren t seasoned and the greek salad was very sad. Their only saving grace is the fries don t seem to be frozen. For $20, a bit more effort would be appreciated.

I moved to Burlington in 2015 and this place was my go to. The original owners were amazing and cared about the quality of their food. It started going downhill in 2019 when they decided to retire and sell the business. The sold it to these young guys first and I guess through Covid they decided to sell. This place keeps getting worse and puts a bad name on the business s. they used to have such amazing food with great portions. Now it s small, burnt, and hardly any toppings on the burgers, poutines etc.

I just visited this place yesterday and I had an amazing experience. I got Greek fries and the chicken souvlaki, it tasted amazing and the service was also top notch. Everyone was very welcoming and kind. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone taking a stroll on Burlington Lakeshore!

Absolutely disgusting. Not sure when the new owners took over, but this place used to be awesome. I always used to get the Gyro dinner or the Gyro salad. Came in here for the first time in two years, ordered a Gyro salad. The Gyro doesnt even seem to be real food. Looks like they order it from somewhere, definitely dont make it inhouse. It tastes like cardboard. I wouldnt eat here again if they paid me. So gross.

Slipping like everyone else

This place is going down hill. Its sad to say tasted nothing like Greek food. My order was made wrong and could not finish the burger after taking one bite as it was terrible tasting. The fries were also greesy and burned. I definitely wont be going there any more. Also please no gloves were being used to make the burgers or food. Place is completely run down.

Not like it used to be. Food wasnt good like it used to be. Overall, it felt more commercial and not as warm and friendly as it used to be. My burger buns were soggy, and the onions[cooked], tasted almost spoiled. Fries were hard and close to tasteless. Was not pleased with my meal. Other customer beside me complained his Gyro was tasteless as well. Just isnt the same anymore. Might be my last visit at least for a while.

Used to be the best. If you know the original owner just dont even come back. Why would the people who purchased this business not follow the original owners recipe and instructions that worked so well ? You want to make more money, ok we all do but youll loose customers so you should consider if its worth it or not.

Went here for my cousins birthday today. I got the double banquet burger with no cheese combo. I honestly could not have been more disappointed in the beef burger patties. There is no way that these beef burger patties are fresh or even made in store. The beef burger patties are 100% from frozen; and for a combo that costs almost, $20 Im rather disappointed in it but next time I know not to waste my money on some sub-par tasting frozen hamburger. The fries could have been cooked longer as well or perhaps double deep fry them cause theyre very soggy in the middle from sitting in the basket too long during the day before being added to an order.

Best burger

The food is definitely not the same since the new owners took over, Its gross. These guys just go with the motions of serving you food and not caring about quality. No hairnets on beards or gloves. The fries with gravy used to be so good and now the fries have a disgusting oily taste and the gravy is totally weak and gross. The Greek fries used to be so good too but then they changed everything, the way they cooked the potatoes, the different flavourless gravy and feta cheese that was probably the worst feta I have ever tasted. The Greeks did it right. These new guys have no idea about quality control. Dont waste your money there. I would rather have McDonalds. BTW Ryan Gosling wouldnt spit on this place now.

Came here a lot as a kid with my dad. Ten years later the quality isnt just nostalgic, its amazing. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and theyll work with you through a language barrier. Got a foot long hotdog combo and a pop, was like 12.75, thats pretty damn reasonable considering its in Burlington as well.

this place used to be so good to get a quick, decent burger. started noticing the cleanliness of the restaurant last time i was in and vents were black, door handles super greasy, just overall looks like the place hasn t been cleaned in a really long time. makes you wonder what s happening behind the counter. fries were burnt in colour, yet some were soggy or rock solid. burger was okay. definitely frozen. spending $30 on two combos is pretty absurd when they clearly don t change their fry oil or make burgers from scratch.

My friend and I came in after we were craving onion rings. The quality was so so good. We don t think it should take 10 minutes to order two of the smallest sized onion rings for almost 6 dollars, but we nonetheless enjoyed the food. First time here and loved the burger and fries absolutely amazing and friendly staff

I was here with a friend today, Aug 4, and we decided to get the chicken souvlaki dinner. The portion size was so massive that we ended up sharing a plate. The first taste of the rice was a bit bland, but once we added some white sauce and hot sauce with slices of the chicken on each spoonful portion, the taste was absolutely delicious.. . To add to that, the service was super fast, and the guy at the cash register was very helpful. I will definitely be returning here!

Its a great little burger spot in the heart of downtown Burlington open late on Friday n Saturday, small space but decent food. Parking: Few parking infront restaurant but more paid parking across the street and paid parking free after 6pm n on wknds

The aesthetic is certainly there, and for $6 the burger was good, toppings and bun no complaints, but the patty tasted like a cheap frozen soy burger, similar to Harveys. You get what you pay for I guess. Would go back overall.

Unfortunately the quality appears to have ended when the ownership changed. The place looks very dirty. I dont think I will be back. Sad to post such a poor review. Hopefully the owners will improve as I see many other reviews that are similar.

You walk in, there s people being too loud, it s cramped, humid, it s entirely made out of plastic and fake leather with a colour scheme of blue and white. You know the food is gonna be incredible. And it is. My favourite place to get fast food for it is fast, and delicious

It has been years since we came here, but today was not what it tasted like the last time we came here. The burger did not have that grilled taste I once remember. It tasted like it was put on the grill still frozen until cooked, the poutine was tasteless. The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing.

Staff and service was great. The chicken slovakia wrap was pretty bad. Probably one of the worst I ever had. Small, very sloppy and just did not taste like it should. Im sure their burgers are good.

We ordered 2 of the banquet burgers. Loved that it was back bacon (peameal) instead of regular bacon. And got a side poutine as well as side greek fries...which were to die for! Came from Toronto to eat here. Definitely will be back

I ll give this place a 3-4 stars. I really enjoyed my chicken souvlaki salad. My partner got a burger and couldn t even eat it. But it is a Greek place and he ordered a burger so who s really to blame here. I d come back.

Ive been going the charcoal pot for over 15 years .the menu has changed a bit but it is still pretty good

Ive been coming to the Charcoal pit for over a decade. The food itself hasnt changed much, so thats a plus but the original owners aimed to please. Definitely dont get the same vibe from the new owners. The employees are extremely loud while talking in the kitchen area, and because it isnt in English I always feel like theyre talking about me. They probably arent but they sure make me feel like they are.

Got a lot of attitude in here and could swear the dude used his bare hands to arrange my food in the take out container - another once great eatery bites the dust - I don t give second chances - you have to be on your game at all times otherwise you can go out of business for all I care - bye bye
