Charminar in Burlington offers a decent dining experience with some room for improvement. The food is undoubtedly the highlight—flavorful and well-prepared, with a variety of authentic Indian dishes to choose from. The mutton boti, in particular, stands out as a must-try. The service is excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who go out of their way to ensure you’re taken care of. However, the overall atmosphere leaves something to be desired. The decor feels a bit outdated, and the ambiance could use some attention to make the dining experience more enjoyable. While the food is good, there’s definitely potential for the restaurant to elevate its overall experience. With some updates to the atmosphere, Charminar could truly shine as a top destination for Indian cuisine in Burlington.
Super clean and very friendly. Staff were very friendly and helpful in explaining the food and ingredients. I ordered dosa and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for your service and delicious food. We will be back.
Really good restaurant for trying out biriyani. Quantity is good for 2 people. Really liked the mutton biriyani.
It offers a pleasant dining experience with friendly staff and plenty of seating, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. For starters, I ordered the Chicken Malai Tikka Sizzlers, which came in good-sized portions. The chicken was mostly juicy, but unfortunately, a few pieces seemed old and re-cooked, which detracted from the overall flavor. For the main course, I tried the Hyderabad Chicken Biriyani and the Lamb Rogan Josh curry with naan. The naan, unfortunately, was too thin and hard, not the soft and fluffy texture I was hoping for. On the bright side, the Lamb Rogan Josh was incredible - full of rich, authentic flavors that transported me straight to the kitchens of Kashmir. It was easily the highlight of the meal. The Chicken Biriyani, however, fell short. It didn’t taste freshly made, and the seasoning was heavy on the cardamom, which overpowered all the other spices. It was a bit too dominant for my liking. Overall, Charminar is a nice Indian restaurant with friendly service and some delicious dishes, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in terms of freshness and balance in seasoning. I hope to see them make these small adjustments in the future!
This is a Good restaurant in Burlington area serving some good Biriyani and Hyderabad style food. While in the restaurant we ordered, a variety of Biriyanis and starters and all of them tasted good. The food is a bit on spicy side but then you can order less spicy as well. The menu is extensive and all the items are decently priced. Recommended" Chicken 65 Biriyani, Hyderabadı Chicken Biriyani, chilli Chicken, Guntur Chicken, Chicken 65.
I did take out of Family pack of Veg biryani. It contains biryani, gobi manchurian, 2 pcs of Gulab Jamun and Raita. They are quite fast in service which is good. Biryani and manchurian were very good in taste, but Raita was smelling like old. They need to give good quality of raita for improving overall taste. Quantity of Biryani and Manchurian were good if you are looking for a family of 2 adult and 2 kids. Quantity of Gulab jamun is less considering family pack. It should be minimum 4 pcs. It is a good option for Biryani take out if you prepare Raita at home.
I frequently visit Charminar location in Mississauga, never felt anything could do better than that one. Then it's like what's better than the Charminar? And the answer!🤚 Another freggin CHARMINAR!!! You guys outdid yourself setting new standards to my expectations about experience, food and ambience. 🫡 Kudos to the friendly approachable staff🫶🫶 The sweet corn chicken soup is a must try, can't miss out on the Karivepaku corn. Found a hidden gem of a chicken noodles 👀👀🤌. Haha, Way to go Burlington, now you've another loyal customer! I'll be coming for more! Much love! Way to gooooo!!! 🤌🤌🤌
Sweet corn soup chicken was delicious and a great appetizer. Chicken lollipop is something I will always get when I come here or any other Indian restaurant. Boneless mutton briyani is very delicious, the mutton was really tender, and the spices were on point. Mango lassi is one of my favorite drinks. I wish it came in a bigger cup, but none of the least, very tasteful. Lime soda salty is something that was recommended to me. It didn't disappoint, but it was a lot of lime for my liking. You can get it salty or sweet. Rasamalai is a dessert and is one of my favorites. For everything I mentioned above, it was all under 70$. The prices are great, and you can feed up to 4 people with the food I listed above.
The chicken biryani was fantastic and highly recommended. It was my first time ordering from here and definitely won t be the last!
I have been ordering biryani from Charminar quite frequently over the last two years but lately their spice level has gone up so much its no longer enjoyable. Dear owner, please ask your chef to tone down on your spice levels. Its getting too spicy. I usually have a high spice tolerance level but even for me its getting too much.. I ordered a big platter on Friday and none of my family could have it since it was so spicy. You have to put tons of yogurt to make it more tolerable but then you cant really taste any other flavours. Please focus on making authentic biryani!!! Thank you!
I was not a huge fan of Hyderabadi biriyani but the lamb dum biriyani at Charminar amazed me. Loved it!!
Mostly party tray takeout. Hyderabadi chicken biriyani and gravies are great
Very bad service. Very unprofessional servers. They gave us dirty utensils
I have always been a great fan of your Hyderabad biryanies. For the first time, wanted to try chicken tikka biryani and turns out worst decision ever. I have never had biryani so full of sweet gravy and less of rice grains. Was very very sweet just like pudding with cardamom. Had struggled to even eat the second bite. It s not even worth to take a picture. I have never seen biryani soaked so very much in such sweet gravy. It s very unfortunate that you tried to replace with butter chicken for chicken tikka, so damn fooling the customers.
Had paneer biryani here. Very flavorful, they serve it with salan and raita. Salan was tasty too. Do ask for avakai pickle to add to the punch! Courteous service.
Totally unexpected. Bad recipe I would say. Paneer Veg Dum Biryani contains Paneer Curry on top of Rice. Huh! I would need to ask preparation style of every dish I order.
Had bad experience on Uber eats takeout. Food was half cooked and not consumable. Never recommended uber eats from this. They call it Hyderabadi dum biryani and it is half cooked too, not even near to basic pulav
Dosa is decent
We tried their vijaywada chicken biryani, chicken 65, mutton roast and lollipops. The lollipops were not that great. Mutton roast and biryani were really good. I would have liked for the biryani to have less chicken and more rice. But the taste was phenomenal. Tried again, prefer the hyderabadi biryani to vijaywada. Vijaywada is too spicy. Gongura chicken was phenomenal. Loved it. We really liked paneer tikka masala as well.
we have ordered food for Diwali event ( Hamilton Teluguvaaru); food was very good, timely delivery, sufficient quantity; Price was very reasonable. It was a nice experience to connect with Charminar owner Mr.Subbarao; I like the way he supports community, highly recommended.... Food
Have been to restaurant multiple times , they have the best chicken 65.Recently I had a chance to taste the food at an event and the quality and taste were supreme. They have the best appetizers
Best Masala Chai I ve had.
Priya and Gagan were super helpful. They were really nice and suggested something we tried that was good. Also, the service was really fast. The food was good. Vegetarian options: Try malai kofta; it was good.

Very disappointed with the food.. ordered paneer kadai and it was watery not thick.. food was not good .. and we ordered biryani also but there was just one taste in that which was clove. Went for the first time and i dont think that there will be any second time. However, the service was good.
The biryani has degraded so much. It used to be one of the best but now It s mostly flavoured rice. Not properly marinated chicken and very less chicken for the quantity of rice they give. And I don t know what pieces of rocks they add in the name of crispy chicken on top of the biryani. Who adds that to a biryani? It s ridiculous. Avoid biryani here.
Very good service, staff was so polite and food is delicious.
Great service, but food is just okay.
The food at Charminar Restaurant is quite good. We ordered dosa, idli, and Gobi Manchurian, and all dishes were satisfying and flavorful. The dosa and idli were well-made, and the Gobi Manchurian had just the right balance of flavors. The service was quick and efficient, earning a solid 5 out of 5. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant was also very clean, with a rating of 5 out of 5 for cleanliness. Overall, Charminar Restaurant is a great choice for South Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine.
Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian main course dishes and breads Food
I recently ordered biryani and chicken curry with naan through Uber Eats, and it was an awful experience. As soon as I opened the packaging, there was a foul smell. The chicken was clearly spoiled, which made the entire meal inedible. Its incredibly disappointing to receive food in such poor condition. I wont be ordering from this place again.
First visit with my adult son tonight. We were both delighted with the excellent flavour and quality of the food the fast and friendly service. Would recommend it and will definitely be back again soon.
Ordered Idli , chicken tikka and mutton dum biryani the other day. Must say, chicken and mutton pieces were ultra soft. Spices were balanced too. However Idli was not upto the mark but my toddler ate it all, thankfully. Service :: 5 stars Chicken and mutton :: 5 stars Idli :: 3 stars
Have ordered Kheema biryani and schezwan egg fried rice. Fried rice is very very bad and too salty. Who puts tomatoes in fried rice? Kheema biryani was better with very mild flavours. Please check the taste before packing the orders. This is not at all fried rice. Waste of money. Staff was welcoming and responsive. But food is not as expected.
Ordered party tray of Hyderabadi goat dum Biryani. It was excellent.Only comment I might add is that the raita was too watery, mostly just thin yogurt. The Biryani itself was delicious. Our guests enjoyed it so much that they ordered from Charminar for their upcoming party.
First bite was heaven I had the Lamb kadai and Naan bread Vegetarian options: More options Food : 5/5 |
Their Chicken 65 Biryani and Chick khorma is a must try.
Delicious food Very good customer service Clean place to visit
Tried their butter chicken, naan and mutton biryani. Both dishes were quite flavorful and well-prepared. The portions were generous, easily enough for two people. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.
The food quality is good and the service is very good. Specially service and behaviour of Mr.Prathmesh...enjoyed his guidance to select foods as per our requirements Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options available
I recently had dinner at this restaurant and was quite disappointed with the Paneer Butter Masala. Authentic or standard versions of this dish do not include significant amounts of sugar. While a pinch of sugar can enhance the flavor, the excessive sweetness in both curries was overwhelming. It was so sweet that I couldnt even finish one proper naan. This was by far one of the worst meals Ive had, and I truly disliked it. On a positive note, the service was good. The staff was attentive, checking in twice to see if we needed anything. However, this does not compensate for the poorly executed dish. While the other food items looked appetizing, I strongly advise against ordering any paneer dishes if you decide to visit this place.
We frequently visit this place and always love their food. The chicken lollipop is my favorite. This place is a must visit .
We usually order biryani from this restaurant every alternate week and even for parties. They typically serve some of the best biryanis in the Oakville and Burlington area. However, our recent experience was very disappointing. We ordered 2 large trays of mutton biryani for our party, but the biryani didn t taste like the authentic Hyderabad biryani that we re used to. Every guest was disappointed, and we ended up having to order again from another restaurant. I m really sorry for leaving a negative review, but I have no other option to express my disappointment. I hope this feedback helps improve the quality in the future.
Good job thanks to prerna. Food was amazing and good service
We absolutely love this place! The food is consistently excellent, and the service is outstanding. Every time we visit, the servers are attentive and make sure all our requests are met. It s always a great experience. Highly recommend!
tasty food, nice ambiance, very helpful staff.
Chicken used in the biryani and their starters is old it has bad smell
I passed by here on the way back to Toronto from the Falls. It was around 9 pm. When I saw three or four tables of Indians sitting in the store, I knew I was in the right place. I ordered the classic butter chicken, mutton finger rice and baguette. Three people spent less than 50 and were very satisfied with the meal. The mutton finger rice is very fragrant and costs 20 dollars for a large bowl. I highly recommend trying one.
I wish I could give zero stars. The food was absolutely disgusting. Everything we ordered were stale. Cut mirchi, karivepaku chicken, Chicken dum biryani, amaravati royyala kura, egg fried rice, egg noodles. All of us have experienced nausea after about 1 hour of eating these. Do yourself a favor by skipping this place and even eating curd rice at home is better than this.
Ordered Amravati royyala kura, egg fried rice, egg noodles worst food ever had
The first ever worst experience on food. Looks like no salt, no spice and not at all fresh. Very surprising that all the food items that we have ordered tastes bad.
We had a terrible experience in Charminar restaurant. We went there at 09:20 and staff was in rush and want us to take order once. The food was bad. Staff keep pushing us. We doing finish yet and they came with bill and want us to pay. At the end, if there is an option for 0 star, I choose that option. We just came out from the restaurant, my husband started throwing up. I am not recommending this restaurant to anyone.
Great dinner! Love the mutton biryani.
Ohh everything just amazing. Prathamesh tooks care of us very well. we will back again.
One of the worst place for take out. I have been consistently disappointed with the quality of food. Pls don t order take out. First experience was a couple of months back when I got uncooked chenna masala. We had to cook it again at home, the masala was raw . Looks like they quickly mixed the reedy made masala base and packed it. we were patient , next time it was the burnt/charred tandoori chicken and today was the gulab jamoon and the accompanying sides for the family pack Biriyani. The Jamoon was spoiled. Looks like it was packed a couple of days back. This is my last time at Charminar!!!! I am done . It not worth the money anymore!!! I know this will go unnoticed or will not even get published..
Favorite Indian food spot. The meat is full of favour. Yummy. Nice dine in spot. Highly recommend.
The food was soooo yummy! We had the karampodi kodi, guntur paneer, dal makhani, chicken 65 biryani, paneer tikka biryani and everything was very tasty. The flavours were so different and rich. This is my favourite restaurant and I just keep coming back here because the food is so good!
Amazing goat biryani and chicken 65. Best biryani in this town for sure.
Best food and service by the staff. Their mutton biryani and bhindi veg is a true hidden gem. Food
I have been looking for a good Indian restaurant for some time. This restaurant did not disappoint. I went with a friend to celebrate my birthday and we were there for a while enjoying the fantastic food. Although nothing fancy on the inside the food was the highlight. From the paneer to the naan bread to the apricot delight my tastebuds were very happy. To top it off the Chai was the best I have had. Thank you. Vegetarian options: I had the paneer which was delicious.
Coming from Brampton, we were in the area and went for lunch. Ordered the Hyd chicken curry and Vijayawada boneless chicken biryani - both the dishes were highly recommended and their bestsellers. Both of them were average at best and lacked the flavor that youd find at a decent Indian restaurant. Considering the amount of restaurant options available, save yourself the time and money. Never doing Charminar again!
Please double check the bill for hidden charges. They added $20.53 as tip and not told us. When we questioned they said they automatically set this for big tables. No special services were offered or requested for us. So please make sure before and after payment that they are not pick pocketing. If they accepted the fault we may not post this review. But they were kind of convincing us that this is something they usually do. We just don t want anyone to get foolish.
Yet another fantastic visit at the Charminar restaurant in appleby line Burlington, in May 4/23. Very pleasant and customer centric team. Special shout out to Gagan and Deep for their extremely courteous gesture and customer service skills & professionalism. Wish them a great success in their future endeavours. Pleasant experience dining at Charminar Burlington at Appleby Line. Enjoyed delicious food and nicely trained staff. Met a very courteous and customer centric Manager Geetanjali, she ensures how customers feel about dining and how they have been looked after by the staff. Keep up the great work, Kudos, Hi 5 greetings to the team for hospitality.
Finally a ducking good Indian food place in Burlington. Nothing else can even compare to how amazing this food is. Wow.
April 2024 I ordered hot and sour soup, Manchurian, chole bhature, masala dosa, noodles I don t recommend Hot and sour soup lot of vegetables in it taste wise it was okay I don t recommend noodles over cooked not satisfied with taste too I recommend masala dosa and chole bhature were best from the dishes I ordered Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Indian food Parking: More than 30slots
I usually buy takeout from this restaurant. The food has been very inconsistent for me: some days, its just okay, and some days, its bad. :(
Ordered food Sunday for take out . The chicken dum biriyani and chicken 65 was really spicy and was not cooked properly . Could tell that even the masala on the checked was uncooked and it made my entire family sick . Very very disappointed.
Good place to try Indian food. It was delicious. Must try Biryanis
The best around by far
We ordered the Hyderabadi veg dum biryani, Hyderabadi dum goat (mutton) biryani, and cut mirchi for takeout. Cut mirchi was bang on and exactly what I used to have in Hyderabad. Veg biryani was pretty close to authentic Hyderabadi food. Goat biryani was also good, according to the people who had it, but I cant attest to the authenticity as I dont eat meat. Spice level was perfect for us. We will be ordering again and hope their recipes are consistent. Vegetarian options: Lots of options!
Exceptional service from Kamal ! first time for the taste and second time for the service! Food
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Kamal. Over the past four months, she has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure a remarkable dining experience. Kamal exemplifies professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for customers. Her warm demeanor, personalized recommendations, and ability to anticipate needs make each visit a pleasure. Her dedication to excellence sets her apart, and I am truly grateful for her exceptional service. Thank you, Kamal for making dining at Charminar unforgettable.
Ordered Hyderabad dum biryani this afternoon and while having it I encountered a piece of metal which is used to clean the utensils and I had to throw it away. Never expected this kind of unhygienic food maintenance from you guys
This was by far my best experience at an indian restaurant. The Chef Shambhoo nailed every order perfectly and with perfection. If you like the taste ask for Shamboh and congratulate him on his excellent delivery of authentic flavour and taste. 5* from me
Yummy, yummy , yummy . Excellent food, excellent staff and welcoming atmosphere had a great experience especially chole bhaturas were were awesome especially thanks to kamal she is so polite and made tasty food for us . Had a great experience
Great place to have the taste of authentic Indian food and top-notch choice to fulfill the spice rich flavours of our homeland. Had to sad enjoyed eating food, except for the hospitality of the staff member, Sadik. Sadik not only behaved rude to us on this specific incident but has been behaving rudely in our previous encounters as well. Really disappointed with Charminar, Burlington to accomodate such staff member (Sadik) with no hospitality and sincerity towards customer. Rest of the people are great around the place and were happy to help except for Sadik. Hope Chaminar, Burlington works on making customer experience better.
Food is good but if you are looking for better service then it s not the one. Sadik was too rude, he was acting as if he was doing us a favor. I never write negative reviews but this guy made me to write.
The biryani is so good just love it and the masala
Loved the food!!!Especially the Pulav (tried the mutton & prawn & biryanis great portion size too
We were in the area and decided to try this for snacks. We had their samosa Chaat, Irani chai and filter coffee and were completely blown away. Everything tasted really good especially the chai. Chaat was fresh and service was great as well. Will be returning soon.
I ordered dosa with a mutton curry. It was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend it. Food : 5/5
I placed an order on call and i specifically mentioned that you have a deal of 10% off for cash payment which is being advertised. The representative responded yes we do. I took cash with me and at restaurant they changed their statement that 10% off is for $30 + tax only which was never informed on call. Secondly, my order was $29.99 + tax so rather than apologizing for miscommunication she said i am doing it for this time only as if it was my mistake. Very unprofessional!
We tried malai biryani it was okay not so good not so bad but if we talk about chicken hakka noodles it was worst tooo sour in taste couldn t eat at all waste of money and time tbh.
Very pleasant experience, trained staff, and very delicious mouthwatering food.
If I talk about last year chicken tikka biryani I would have given them 4.5 stars but since this year, we ordered chicken tikka biryani twice and both the time all the chicken pieces was so hard and dry it was really hard to chew them. Really disappointed with the biryani quality. You can literally see that how dry and hard the chicken pieces were in the video attached
Amazing South Indian and specifically hyderabadi cuisine. Loved the filter coffee.
Biryani was tasty. Plenty for 2-3 people. Had a Falooda drink. Vermicelli noodles, ice cream, hints of rose water. Very filling drink. Waitress was nice. She came to the table when called.
Tasty food and mango Mastani drink is awesome. Server was super friendly and service was quick. Overall awesome experience ...
Great Restaurant tried it for the first time and fell in love with their Hyderabad Biryani. Special shout out to Saurabh for his excellent service! Definitely recommend eating here!
Lots of food reasonable price customer very good
Delicious food. Great customer service by Deep, Sadik and Rahul. Will definitely go back.
The best Hyderabadi Biryani Ive had. Been here many times and the Chicken Biryani never fails to satisfy. Also, try the Chicken 65 wet.
Ordered Egg Fried on Uber Eats but found a piece of broken glass in the food. Posting here for the wider reach, safety is not to be compromised!
I visited Charminar on a weekday at 8 PM. Despite numerous customers, only one server was handling everything. The 20-minute wait for a table was inconvenient. The food lacked consistency, especially considering Charminar is a franchise. The fried rice was good, but Guntur chicken didnt meet expectations, and the Vijayawada biryani was a major disappointment lacking salt, spice, and proper marination for the boneless chicken. The ambience was nice, but the overworked server expressed unexpected crowd issues. A more organized approach, perhaps hiring additional staff, would improve customer experience. Unfortunately, my once-positive view of Charminar has changed.
I buy takeout from here every other week. Fantastic staff. Their biriyani is best that I have had in the Hamilton Burlington Oakville region. Parking is a bother on the weekends though.
This restaurant we explored went above and beyond our expectations. We savored a variety of dishes, including mysore masala dosa, kashmiri chai, gulab jamun, idli, all of which were exceptional. Nevertheless, we were deeply impressed by the cozy atmosphere and the exceptional service. I enthusiastically give it a five-star rating
Food is delicious. I tried chole bhature and Masala dosa. Both are good but chole bhature is one of my favourite. So I must say everyone has to try their food once.
Found a metal wire with my food. This is a food safety issue which Ill be reporting as well.
Food was ok, not anything extraordinary. Service was little upsetting, the guy at the counter doesnot seem to be liking his job. My table had water spilt on it when I picked up the water jar. So, I asked him to clean the table and he brought some napkins and kept it on the table thinking you dropped so, you wipe it out attitude. The table is so small that the whole experience of enjoying dining became upsetting. Also, they could see the customer is trying to reshuffle the serving bowls, so they could have removed the used service platter but no. Needs a lot of improvement.
Best goat biryani in whole GTA. Other items are great as well. Was a regular in Scarborough location. Will be regular here in this spot.
Biryani is not authentic, Chicken 65 was tasteless, food was very expensive. Service was also very slow.
The dishes were phenomenal, the servers were very friendly and helpful in our selections and the restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and comfortable.
South indian must try
Tasty curries. Good garlic naan. Just a couple things..Sometimes the naan is so good and fluffy but other times, it can taste a bit stale as if it wasn t that fresh or like bread that was microwaved too much and hardened. If it was more consistent, I would rate higher. Also the chicken biryani can be a bit too dry.
Best Indian Food in Burlington!
One star because no option to give zero Worst ever experience and food is no taste.. staff is dumb BIG NO TO THIS LOCATION Food : 1/5
Charminar Burlington is really good. Best place for Biriyani in town. The Tandoori chicken tikka was outstanding. Their Hyderabadi chicken curry is a must to try.. Awesome people.
Very bad customer service, take too long for delivery order unprofessional lady who s working on front desk
Lady at front is really unprofessional and rude
Tried Shahi Paneer for the first time and its my new favourite! Delicious, fresh and generous portions Thank you!
Yesterday, we went for dinner. The service that we experienced was pathetic. We ordered veg Byriani along with few other items. They keep us waited for the Byriani about 45 mins and at the end the server came and saying that veg Byriani is spoiled. Lately they asked us to change the order. They should have inform us before so that we could change the order.
Delicious!! Great customer service and new comer friendly. They made the experience very easy and enjoyable for someone unfamiliar with the menu. Will be coming back soon thanks to the manager!
There are only two tables in total to dine. The other table was ready to leave when we arrived. After waiting for 20min, we went to the front staff to ask if they are ready to take the order It was one main course , two drinks and a dessert After 45min of waiting for food in addition to 20min of waiting time to order for just two dine in tables shows that take out are the priority for this restaurant Food was edible. I have been a frequent to all the branches as I travel a lot from east to west on daily basis. This restaurant made me give up There are many other Indian restaurants in area who serve better
Delicious South Indian food
First of all , after 30 mins of allotting table , they came to take order after we went and reminded them. Secondly we placed all starters and main course together so there wont be delayed. Even after half an hours of mine and my husbands order came, our toddler order didnt come through. She was hungry and this is absolutely disappointing and very very annoying. With this service, we have to think twice to come here again. Food was Good but service was highly disappointing.
I recently visited Charminar, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. My order was missed, and despite bringing it to the attention of the staff, there was no resolution or refund offered. The lack of customer service left me unsatisfied and frustrated.
I recently ordered from Charminar and my experience/encounter with them has been really bad They gave us a wrong order and when we requested for a refund, they literally ignored it and said bluntly that they have already processed it , When I asked seriously they sent an e-transfer and immediately cancelled it Very cheap service , Worst experience ever I wouldn t give a 1 star if there was an option
Worst and Cheap service ever Would never recommend such service to anyone
Ordered many times. But the curry they use in laal chicken and egg crry is the worst.please change the curry recipe
Tasty food. Their butter chicken is delicious. My children love it.
We ordered a couple of the goat dum biriyani trays and it was so flavourful! It came with raita and a gravy, the quantity was sufficient and every scoop of food was wholesome. The flavour was unlike the common biriyani and that is what will make us come back and buy this food again. Excellent service and over the phone support when we needed help to decide. Thanks guys! You made the trip from Oakville worthwhile. We loved ordering from you today!
Charminar Biryani is a personal favorite, and their pulav is a delightful addition for those seeking a milder flavor. Highly recommended for those who prefer dishes with less masala. However, the karuvepakku chicken could be improved as it lacks the distinct curry leaves flavor, appearing more like lumps of flour.
Worste egg curry ever!! Horrible!! Dont know why would they sell stuff like that i could have made 10x better at home
We order chefs special egg curry turned out to be worst egg curry. We also got egg biryani which was awful as well. Egg curry tasted like readymade curry gravy which I can buy from any store for $3. Do a favour on your pocket and don t try food from here.
I have been at this restaurant so many times, and have always had pleasant experience with food and service. They are pretty good with south Indian especially Andhra style cuisine which is god for people wanting to try a spicy south-Indian flavor. Ask the staff about the specials that you shouldnt miss. All in All a better tasting South-Indian Restaurant that will leave you satisfied and contented after a hearty meal. Price is on the mid-high but I believe taste is pretty worth. Vegetarian options: Must try the Dosas and Gobi (Cauliflower) dishes. Dietary restrictions: Besides any food allergies, you need to be clear about your spice level of food and dont ask for really spicy food that you cannot eat and kills the actual taste. Parking: Open parking space in the complex parking lot enough for all the customers. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu that probably is a good option.
Biriyani (i spell it differently) is not just a food item. It is almost devotion to this Indian import from Persia. Every Indian has emotional connection to this food item and this can make everyone take sides as to which one (There are so many variations) is the best. Charminar had very good Hyderabadi Biriyani. fresh and authentic with good portion size ( buy the bucket even if your are single, you can freeze and thaw). The Family size also is great value and no compromise on quality. Potalam biriyani for those looking for variations as is the Prawn Biriyani ( weekend specials). Parking is free and plenty. If youre from the South of India, you wont go anywhere else!
for $36.00 ,I received 90% rice and 10% goat if Im even being generous. much better options available in the area
Awesome Veg Treat with so many variants .. Team Kaliga enjoyed the yummy food .. all fresh food and hot served .. recommend to all .. we also bought during our friends get together and was enjoyed by friends .. Satish makes the presentation perfect Highly recommended for all Team Kaliga followers Share this to your friends and family and make a million view of the pics and video
This place in Burlington never gives me consistent taste and quality. It has been 2/4 times that the restaurant has disappointed me big time. Veg dum biryani, chaap, Vijaywada chicken biryani - all were below average yesterday night. Vegetable dum biryani was mostly not fresh because it didnt taste like one. Mostly my last time at the restaurant now. Really awful experience.
If youre in search of a memorable dining experience this Sakranti I highly recommend visiting Charminar burlington thier Sakranti Special Buffet is a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds offering a true celebration of Indian flavors...
Parking: Lots of spots Food
One of my favorite Indian restaurants. I come here for work lunches all the time and Im always very satisfied with the quality of the food and the friendly service. Get the chill panner!
What a show! Their once in a year festive buffet( Hyderabad style) was authentic and simply scrumptious! It was packed with people till the very end and they pulled on the show,so well!
Okay so i ordered rasmali, kadai paneer and butter naan from here rasmalai was worth it but kadai paneer wasnt good at all too oily and uncooked whereas naan didnt had any butter on it nd it was like i am eating pizza crust. Sorry, but Dissapointed with order Wasnt worth spending money.
Yesterday we ordered Amaravathi chicken curry but that was too salty ! First time we experienced like this very disappointing we complained to them !They said they will replace our in our next order!
Excellent food, great service, friendly staff. Went for dine in and then ordered some more food for take out to have it next day. It is that good. Thank you. See you soon.
Ordered boneless mutton biriyani and Karaikudi chicken curry through UberEats. The biriyani was so bland. Just plain rice mixed with mutton. No spices mixed at all. Took couple of spoons and had to end up throwing it. The 2 stars are for the Karaikudi chicken and the bread basket which was kinda decent.
Food is not the same anymore
Fantastic food and attentive service. My comfort is egg curry and garlic naan. Takes me back to Hyderabad.
The food is not up to the mark and I see quality dropping over the years at Charminar. Wouldnt recommend this unless you are nearby the area dont have time to go somewhere else.
Good biriyani at a good price. Service is first class and the seating area is adequate as well. The most worth plate of biriyani is the family pack. For $34 you get enough biriyani to fill 5 regular people. We took the chicken 65 biriyani family pack with chicken 65 as topping and the chicken 65 side which was good as well. Just one issue was that the taste was not up to the mark but it was expected for its price. Place serves huge trays of biriyani as well enough for 12 people at a decent price. Overall decent place to get halal biriyani. Vegetarian options: Veg biriyani available Dietary restrictions: Halal restaurant Parking: Lot of parking Kid-friendliness: Nice
Excellent food and best price!
They have the best Hyderabadi mutton/chicken briyani in hamilton/burlington/oakville and very clean washrooms.
Food taste is awesome, authentic hyd mutton biryani. Also tasted curry leaf chicken, it has got yummy flavor, definitely recommend Charminar @ Burlington Vegetarian options: Veg biryani is simply awesome
The food was not at all tasty Ordered chicken tikka biriyani and mutton Biriyani . The mutton Biriyani had more bones and hardly any pieces. The rice is very plain, didn t taste like Biriyani
My family loves the biryani, little spicy though. Tea is very good.
Great food. Great service. Food
Overall it s a nice place to eat biryani though it s not an authentic Hyderabadi biryani. For the test it s nice with nice spice level. We tried regular chicken biryani earlier and tried the Avakai biryani it s basically the same chicken biryani and added mango pickle. Chicken 65 was nice. Also the portions were really nice a biryani is good for 2 people easy. Overall if you craving a biryani then this is a standard place to find good decent biryani.
I had an awesome time at this restaurant! The staff was super friendly, making us feel right at home. Youve gotta try their veg and chicken biryani its out of this world! And the best part? The prices wont break the bank. Its a must-visit spot for a tasty and affordable meal.
I am cook I know East Indian food but these restaurants serving wrong food to people . Recently I ordered biryani usually I don t try these so called East Indian restaurant because I know their frozen recipes anyway I took only few bites and straight to washroom . White boiled rice with some old mix spices and you can tell by seeing the photo please don t waste your money . Also they play with this delivery apps too so you can t claim it . Hope this review will show .
Good food, amazing service and overall a really nice experience
Lamb biryani was good
Amazing food, cozy ambience and plentiful portion! Authentic Hyderabadi taste, and all the menu items are heartwarming and delicious! Vijaywada special Biryani is a treat for your tastebuds and Szechuan Veg Noodles were really amazing! This has surely become our new go-to restaurant for Indian Dine-in.
This is one of the best places to enjoy authentic south indian food. Had Masala Dosa , Idli sambhar and filter coffee and it was just too amazing. The service is also fast and the staff is very sweet. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options!
Best veg Biryani
My search for hyderabad biryani ends here. Good taste. Hope they will Make it less oily and better cooked boiled rice in biryani next time.
One of the worst food nightmare expereince. Our orders: 1. Chilli Paneer on the starters which was all wet and gravy. 2. Mughlai Chicken which turned out to be too sweet which upon rectification remained same sweet. 3. finally, Karampodi Dosa which wasa blunder. Podi itself means powder which to us was served as a paste. For typical Hyderabadi guy if you upset with Dosa then you are just a waste. After all this we cancelled our Biryani orde, I am sure was a wise choice. Advice to upgrade your chefs and dishes or please dont spoil the iconic Hyderabad Charminar taste.
Our familys go-to spot for Indian food. They are also halal which is amazing
Amazing choice of Indian cuisines.
First off, we were so glad to have found a Charminar in Burlington as we reside in Niagara and this is the closest one to us and we can avoid the long drive to saga or Scarborough. The staff were amazing, the lady at the counter was so polite and kind. The staff who waited our table was so nice and helpful as well with a pleasant attitude. Moving on to the food, we absolutely loved the karampodi chicken. We also ordered dosa with chicken curry, their chutneys were amazing. Chicken curry was a little too strong on the spices (Overpowering taste of cloves) other than that it was tasty like a home made chicken curry. We also ordered the chicken 65 biriyani with a lot of hopes and expectations but it really wasn t up-to our expectations. The rice tasted a little bland, the 65 chicken tasted like it wasnt fresh well done meat, tasted and smelt like old meat. Overall good service, but average taste when it comes to the biriyani.
Food is amazing. Very flavourful and authentic. Staff is very pleasant.
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Update 3, Dec 2023 A friend of mine in Hamilton requested me to get a starter and biryanni from this place. I was reluctant but since it was for him, I went. At his place, I had a few bites too. And my God! You guys have really improved!! I dont know if its a one off thing but the starter tasted excellent. Perfect amount of everything. Upping my rating to 5 stars now. I hope you guys keep the quality and consistency intact. Thank you. Update 2 Like I said, keep fooling locals to think every Charminar is the same. With your pathetic quality and flavor, you are ruining other locations reputation which actually serve good food. Same supplier doesnt mean fresh meat. Look at the reviews here and see how many people are complaining. Its almost funny how you dont notice what others have to say, and keep claiming of never receiving a complaint. Update 1 Reply to the owners message- I didnt try your dum biryanni. Mine had fried boneless chicken pieces. The fact that you are not owning to your inferior chicken quality when so many reviews here complain about the meat being tough and unappetizing is beyond me! Claiming you sell a lot of these wont justify the lesser quality. You may fool the locals in Burlington to think its good while others who tried Charminar Scarborough and Mississauga locatoons avoid this place. May be change your meat supplier. Sales volumes dont always mean good food. Its the lack of tough competition in the area that you guys are still running. Also, dont expect me or anyone in my circle visit your this place until you work on your quality issues. ****Original post- May be use fresh chicken next time! Your chicken has a sour odor! Not the taste, its the odor! Note- if you know the real taste of the chicken in biryani, or have been to Charminar in Scarborough or Mississauga, avoid this place. Its not the same. This location is nowhere near the quality or standard. As a matter of fact, its just bad! Customer service was good on the managers part. She was polite and all. Others just neutral. Food however is bad. Ordered a biryani that I normally place at other branches of this restaurant. After driving 10km for pick up, I found its nowhere near as good or has the authentic Charminar Scarborough taste. The chicken wasnt fresh and tasted bland and dry with no flavor whatsoever. Called them up and this lady politely offered a replacement. I appreciated that! Drove back again (20km to and from). Replacement was slightly better but that chicken too, was tough, lacked freshness, tasted bland, and no flavour. It seems like they are using chicken nearing its expiry date. Because fresh meat doesnt smell bad or has a sour odor when you bite into it. I mean when you are paying ~$19 for a regular portion biryani at a not so fancy place, the price better justify it. Sadly, thats not the case here. Wont be risking another try even if they offer it for free. Its just not worth it! The people here to need to fix their basics and the first on the list is to use fresh meat. Because your prices arent cheap!
This is the honest review I could write down after so many attempts to like food the biryani has always turned us down because they serve too much gravy with less rice. Overall the biryani looks too spicy and full of gravy(masala) because they dont mix the exact proportions before serving. Many times Ive requested them to add less gravy and more white rice making it eatable till the last byte but no they keep on serving the same manner. Biryani will be too salty and spicy making it almost impossible for kids to handle. When I ordered take away alot of time I had to cook plain white rice and mix into biryani to make it balanced. Atmosphere is good service is good.
Definitely try out the mutton or chicken biryani if youre a first timer! The food goes down well with a fresh lime soda (sweet n salty). By far the best places where Ive experienced a consistent taste in the biryani!! Vegetarian options: Many vegetarian options but mainly south Indian style. Also, theyre a bit high on the spice but you can always ask the server for dishes that are not spicy
The none spicy option was too hot for me I couldn t eat it and I was starving I asked for a recommendation for something high protein and I only got two small pieces of chicken and a ton of rice. Not worth the $19 wouldn t recommend for someone with a North American palette
Great chicken biryani my go to place
Great ambiance and greater quality of food. Very nice and spicy food, exactly like how we like it. So great job there. The service was wonderful, and they were happy to serve delicious food. Brought back memories of Hyderabad.
Excellent food. Massive menu, interesting cultural info throughout the menu. Will return. We got 2 mains, rice, 2 orders of naan, an appetizer. Could have fed 4 people. Cost us $82 with taxes and 18% tip included. Vegetarian options: Plenty.
I tried their mutton dum biryani one weekend when ones craving biryani and was enjoying it UNTIL I found a hair in it! Totally put me off. Charminar staff and management needs to take hygiene seriously if they want to retain business. Hope this was a one off incident and won t happen again
They serve good biryani s. I always loved having biryani here.
Very delicious food. I like the mutton biryani most but mutton karaikurry is so delicious. (I hope, my curry spelling is correct) Parking: A big space to park.
