415 Elizabeth St, Burlington, ON L7R 0A4, Canada
A variety of sushi, teriyaki, udon & rice dishes are on the menu at this cozy outpost.
Food taste well and nice vibe. Good service. We had a great lunch here. The sashimi is fresh.
Came to this restaurant on a Thursday evening with my husband and baby. We were seated immediately. The sushi was delicious. There are a ton of options, which can make it difficult to choose. Highly recommend the lobster and chicken kaarange. The server, who I think is the owner, was so friendly and playful with my baby. It helped make for smoother dining experience. Would recommend!
Nice spot located near the lake. Their rolls were good and had a decent amount of stuffing Their prices are definitely a little higher compared to your local spots.
The quality food here was absolutely amazing. I had the sashimi combo with mixed fish and rice and every single bit of it was delicious. I am definitely comign back. The staff was also very friendly, happy, and observative. 10/10 experience
Great food, kind staff. Asked for a particular table when we called for a reservation and they held it for us. Very enjoyable evening.
Nice place to have some good Japanese food. They have a variety of items on the menu, was perfect for our group. Food is delicious, presentation is very simple. Service is a tad slow but maybe it’s due to the long weekend.
Restaurant was beautiful and the sushi is fresh. Unfortunately we waited for almost an hour for the sushi platter we ordered. Also, DON’T order the platter, just order the sushi you want to eat. We expected a lot more variety of instead of half of plate of salmon. Also, $4 for a small bowl of miso soup was also too price.
Mikado has a wide selection of quality food! We love their sushi (spider roll and kamikaze roll), agedashi tofu, and dolsot bibimbap! The people who work there are so friendly and accommodating! It is always a great experience when we go!
Incredible sushi and the atmosphere was so nice. Really really good service and kind staff as well!!! Highly recommend!!!
Best sushi in Burlington, also have lots of other Asian cuisine options. Service is friendly.
For some reason I missed this restaurant for years. I visited every restaurant around it but last night I tried it. It was a delight. Went with sashimi selection with some kind of fancy fish lol also tried chicken katsu dish. Was a nice selection with excellent service
Coming back from a 30 days road trip, we stop at this very nice restaurant. Great service, Great food, great energy, reasonable pricing. I strongly recommend it.
1. Too pricy 2. Need to catch a fish smell. 3. Need to update for outdoor tables. Food : 3/5
They don t accept solo diners, even though today isn t a weekend and the restaurant isn t full. There are plenty of empty tables outside. They used the excuse of being too busy to ask me to leave. I m very disappointed
I tried the chicken katsu, and it was delicious. Service, atmosphere, and energy of this restaurant in uniquely wonderful.
Always amazing
Consistently some of the best sushi you can get in the Hamilton/Burlington area for years. Staff is always kind and helpful. Every meal here has been a 5/5 experience. I highly recommend the Chirashi bowl.
It s amazing small authentic Japanese restaurant.. food is amazing staff are Friendly. It s a hidden gem of Burlington
Just a lovely place, food is great, service is very kind, and the atmosphere is unique. Would recommend Chicken Katsu, although warning: the sauce is already on top if you don t like it :)
The food is very good. Not cheap but still reasonably priced. Service is good. The interior design and lighting as well the patio space could be renewed, redone, modernized a bit.
Best sushi in town. Period.
Delicious!
Really good sushi, yummy and fresh and reasonable priced Tempura was mid tho Food
Always great sushi!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience, best shrimp tempura we ve ever had. I highly recommend getting this as an appetizer along with edamame. We got three rolls and shared them and it was the perfect amount. The atmosphere is very quiet and intimate, perfect for date night. Overall one of the best experiences in downtown Burlington. Easy 5/5 !!!
The lady who was helping us had blue hair and she had a very bad attitude towards us and we heard her talk about us and the way we eat. The food was also kind of bad because it didn t seem worth 48$. Very disappointing.
Best sushi I ve tried in Ontario. And the girls were so niiiice!!
Friendly service and great sushi! Im pretty picky with my sushi but I highly recommend.
Friendly staff, good service. Overall average tasting. The rice didn t taste like sushi rice. Lacking quality in the raw fish. Overly fried shrimp. Would stick with the basics like dynamite rolls for future visits.
This is my all-time favorite sushi spot! Whenever Im in Burlington, this is where Im getting lunch.
Extremely pleasant staff. Great food, some of the best sushi in town. Fast and friendly service. Would definitely recommend these guys to me friends.
My favourite item is the salmon lover! The service is really friendly.
Amazing sushi in Downtown Burlington. Lots of variety.
My favourite spicy salmon roll! Lots of delicious vegan sushi too! Everything tastes fresh and delicious! Kind staff as well. We will be back!
Great food but horrible service. Our server, an older lady and possibly the owner, hushed our 3.5-year-old a few times. Very rude. Our son was 99.5% quiet except for the two times that he got excited watching his cartoon. I didn t think we were at ICU.
Small sushi restaurant within the Village . Great food options, and aesthetics. Plenty of parking surrounding the restaurant, which is free on weekends and holidays (on street and public parking lots).
The restaurant is amazing. Located in a great location, food is fresh and abundant for the price. Place is small for its demand. Definitely very busy. Service is good!
Beautiful place with a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere, perfect for a lunch meeting.
over pricing
The food was really really good.the waiter was kind
Ok place located at the heart of Burlington downtown.
My husband and I love the food!
Haven t been in person but we had a platter delivered and the sushi was FIRE! I am a self-professed sushi lover and my husband is half Japanese. The sushi was melt-in-your mouth fresh! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We try to support every authentic Japanese sushi restaurant we can discover and this one did not disappoint!! my kids and family approve! can t wait to have it again!!
Very authentic Japanese style restaurant. The atmosphere is great, very traditional Japanese decor. Service is great. Just like any 5 stars Michelin restaurants, they take the time to tell you what each type of fish is when they serve you the sashimi platter. We went for early dinner, when there is not many people in the restaurant, but the lady is very attentive that she keep looking out to see if we need anything.
Service was really good and food was top notch.
Always great fresh food
It s very simple here, but everything is sooo delicious
A nice place, with friendly service. But the food is very bland, like they re afraid to let the flavours shine through, perhaps because of the demographic. Mikado more like Mikadon t come here if you re looking for flavour.
Absolutely delicious. The salmon sashimi is heavenly!
Our fav new sushi restaurant. Food is first rate - fish is beautiful, fresh and generous. Favorite saba in the GTA. Presentation is delightful, service is warm, respectful and attentive.
I ate here for a Valentine s Day dinner. Order the Explorer s Boat and it was delicious. It left our taste buds wanting more but our stomaches said no. The service and atmosphere were also great. Definitely recommend!
Been going here for a while. Im not sure if its changed hands or not but it was an exceptionally good meal recently. Every thing was fresh and served at the perfect temperature. Service is always good and we love a family run business.
Great authentic Japanese food with a quite and relaxing amnience. Hospitality is very good too! And good portion size.
Way, waaaay too much tempura crunch on the crunchy spicy maki rolls. Service was slow, prices were a bit high. But the sushi boats looked awesome, will have to come back and try again.
Great fresh sushi for all ages in a quaint little village atmosphere Parking: It s Burlington. There is lots of parking Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and are willing to work with kids! My toddler loves this place and the sushimi
The kindest staff ever! And the most beautiful, deicious food! All in a gorgeously decorated space.
Fresh and delicious food, quick and friendly service!
Food and service is always good. Parking on the street and city lot is free after 6pm.
If you plan to charge premium sushi prices I suggest serving premium quality sushi. These are rolls i expect from ann all you can eat type of restaurant. Skip this place.
The food was very fresh and delicious. The table service needs work as they need to be more attentive to all the tables and not just one at a time. It was good enough to return as the food was excellent. Vegetarian options: There is enough on the menu to satisfy a vegetarian to their delight. Parking: The parking lot is located across the road from the restaurant.
Best service and food tastes amazing, my only issue is the service can be slow and you may end up waiting but the people working are great.
The food is absolutely amazing, so delicious and fabulous service. I ordered the miso soup, spider roll and lobster roll. This is now my favourite sushi place
I came here for Ramen, as soon as I walked in I asked about Ramen and they said they dont serve it. Kind of awkward and I felt bad for wanting to leave right then and there so I stayed. The first warning sign was that the menu had about 12-14 pages of items. When a place tries to do everything it will do nothing well. Unsurprisingly had quite a subpar and less than mediocre experience. I came here because of the ratings which I now realized are probably a combination of very old reviews when this place perhaps first opened and a bunch of paid reviews. Dont come here if you really like sushi. Its hard to describe and put a finger on it but its just low quality and lacks effort. Where to start? Ordered a green tea, it came in as a bagged tea in a cup. Ordered edemame, it tasted ok but cold and clearly a microwave job in the back. Ordered tempura, this was ok. Nothing to write home about. Ordered a sashimi, the tuna tasted and smelled fishy. The salmon was ok. Stick to salmon if youre coming here, its high turnover. Rice was ok, hard to screw up. Miso soup was ok. Salad was highly unimpressive. Wont be returning.
Average sushi, good not great. Miso soup was really good though. Food
Had a lovely time while there but hours after I got terribly ill and this was the only place I ate that day. It ruined my digestive system for a few days and I will be hesitant to eat sea food for a while. I wanted to love it but sadly I wont be back because of this experience.
Great service and a wide menu to choose from. Great wine prices as well!
Very nice place, not too fancy but food was great.
Good quality and variety of maki. Fresh sashimi. Prompt service. Problem with service we had was quickly corrected. One of the best Japanese restaurants around. Food : 4/5
Mikado is my go to sushi restaurant for the last 7 years. It occurred to me that I ve never written a review. This is high quality, delicious sushi. This is not an AYCE - All you can eat places are great for quantity, but often leaves much to be desired in quality. The staff are attentive, the chefs are very skilled. I ve probably eaten here 50+ times and never a bad experience!
Small little Japanese restaurant. Simple styling but nice. Food came well-presented and tasted fairly well.
Best sushi spot in Burlington!
Big portion. Good food here .
Great salmon sashimi and nigiris, very fresh fish
This is a great place to experience Asian food.
From a vegetarian perspective: good options for vegetarians! The food was delicious and they had plastic type plates and cups for kids, which was great for our 1 year old. Our kids are 1 and 4 and they loved all the food we got. They did not have kid chopsticks, so we brought our own. Food portions were great! If youre coming during busy times (i.e after 6p) its best to have a reservation. We will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Soups are not vegetarian. There is a separate section for vegetarian rolls - and not just cucumber and avo, these were big rolls filled with veggies. Tofu options are also available for terriyaki dinners.
Great food, very authentic tasting great quality!
My go-to for vegan sushi options! Always fresh, tasty and good variety .
Been going here for almost 20 years. Consistently great sushi
Always top quality, wonderful owners. Nothing else compares.
overpriced miso soup is salty, sushi is just okay.
Been here so many times! Always amazing sushi and sake!
What a disappointment. We just got takeout and realized once we got home the fish was spoiled. Weve been eating here for 4 years and the owners know us. We called and they insisted the fish was fine! We were shocked at their response and refused to replace the fish. Thats the last time well trust this place. Terrible customer service. Theyve got our $120 but its the last dollar theyll see from us.
Delicious sushi and tastes very high quality. The sushi boat was fantastic and even though its listed to feed 2 people we shared it between 4 adults and ordered other small plates. The service was very friendly! Its a family restaurant and the people working were so sweet and kind.
Accommodating staffs, but western style Japanese cuisine, the alteration makes the sauce way too sweet instead of traditional subtle taste in Japanese food
Amazing quality bbq eel, scorched salmon and shrimp tempura.
Fast fresh and very tasty. Il be back often
Very friendly staff, the sushi was great as was the edamame. The miso soup was really salty and the seafood noodle dish was not that good. Id come back but only for the sushi
Very delicious with reasonable price. I liked everything here.
Best sushi in Burlington. Very authentic and reasonably priced.
Food was fresh, large portions and good service
Food was exceptional! Had really good time there. Service was great everyone was friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended! PS: udon noodle soup was huuge :)
Great variety of Suchi and very fresh.
Been going here for 20 years. Still going strong :-)
Kind and friendly server. Dusty and old decor. MEH overpriced food. Cheap cabbage filler instead of actual vegetable dish. Food
The ambience was cozy, the presentation is lovely, service was delightful and the sushi was delicious! located in a village square it felt straight out of a storybook!
Mikado was in a great location. Our server was very friendly and helpful while we read through the extensive menu, we ended up getting a variety of sushi rolls and ice cream as dessert. The total was about 100$ for 3 people. In general the food was delicious, shop was small but very inviting. Loved it!
Amazing experience! The food is very high quality and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Best Sushi I ve ever had in my life.
Ordered for take out. The food smell really great and hot when we got it in out car. However, the salmon roll for me was not that fresh so might not be that excellent experience
Everything that we ordered was amazing quality and good size portions. The ingridients were visible, all was fresh. Keep it up guys!! Food
Food was okay. Honestly, nothing to write home about. But, we ate and our tummys were full, prices are good for what you get. Service though.... The place wasnt full when we went and there were a couple of servers, but, somehow we still had difficulty getting someones attention at different points during our meal, especially after food was done and we wanted to get dessert.
Highly recommend
Great sushi!
Pretty good experience for my first time being there, a lot of selection to choose from
10 mins after sitting inside, and we still didn t get a glass of water, and we had to call the waitress and tell her we are ready to order. It was 1 o clock in the afternoon, we were the only customers at the restaurant.
Beautifully presented food. Friendly fast service and an interesting menu.
Good food. Great service. Great patio view.
Our first time to eat here and we were really satisfied! We ordered the Chef s Boat, Shashimi Platter, Dolsot Bibimbap & Unadon. Food was really excellent like the sashimi which melts in your mouth & lobster & shrimp tempura were really superb. Definitely worth coming back!
The Maki miduim platter was terrible. Worse Ive ever had. The menu is very desiving, probably created by a very dishonest owner. They charge you $70 for 54 pcs and only 5-6 pieces had a bit of salmon in it. The rest of maki were made of vegetables or crumbs. Very disappointed and feeling like we were scammed.
Excellent, cozy place, very nice balcony. Exceptional seasoning and quality of food.
Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. The avocado dragon rolls, veg udon noodles and the veg sushi pizza were really good. Food
Veggie tempura was good. Service was good, the lady served us was nice and kind. We got the big boat of sushi and sashimi and was the most disappointing sushi and sashimi I ever tried, and obviously the most expensive. Low quality at any level, even the rice for the sushi was sticky and not freshly cooked. Disappointing.
Been going to Mikado for years and they never miss. The atmosphere is very cozy, food is always delicious and fresh. The Maki rolls are stuffed. Service is always warm and friendly.
Nice cozy place by the lake. Sashimi and sushi were fresh. However, the tuna and butter fish pieces were too thick!
Great service super friendly! Food came out perfect and so delicious to eat! Thank you for the great experience:)
We order takeaway, we havent eaten in the restaurant (only because we have small children and dont personally like taking them to restaurants). We order and pick it up, always fresh tasting, and hot. We like that they reuse boxes to help carry out our orders. Less chance of leaks. Both cooked meals and sushi are wonderful. So far everything we have had from there was great. No complaints We have had sushi, and sashimi, and maybe have tried each appetizer, the bulgogi, yaki udon, chicken katsu, teriyaki and a few speciality rolls. They all have been lovely. Cant wait to try more. This place has become our go-to sushi restaurant.
Our overall experience at Mikado was wonderful! The service was extra friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere was relaxing and authentic. All the protein pieces were cut very large and thick. The food was extremely fresh. Best Japanese sushi I ve ever had. It was delicious and I will definitely be back. Thank you so much Mikado for your wonderful service and great food
Mikado Sushi in Burlington, Ontario Where Sushi Dreams Come True! If youre in Burlington and havent tried Mikado Sushi, youre seriously missing out! This place is like a sushi party in your mouth. First of all, the sushi is so fresh it practically swam to my plate. Its like they have a direct line to fish heaven or something. The flavors were dancing a tango on my taste buds. And the staff? Theyre like sushi ninjas quick, skilled, and they make you feel like youre the emperor of sushi land. So, if you want to up your sushi game and have a blast while youre at it, Mikado Sushi is your ticket. Dont miss out, or youll have serious foodie FOMO!
Food was absolutely amazing. The best sushi we ve had in Burlington. We got the fire cracker roll. As you can see there is only 1 piece left in the picture because it was too tasty and I forgot to take a picture . We also got the Galbi which came with soup salad and rice and it was also very good. 10/10 will visit again!
Best special rolls I ve had in Ontario. Rainbow roll/Volcano Roll. Fresh Avo, fresh assortment rainbow rolls, zero chewy texture at all. Excellent. Nice view of the water near by.
Mikado was such an enjoyable dining experience. The warm and inviting atmosphere, friendliness of the wait staff, and quality food is one of the more enjoyable dinners Ive had in the downtown Burlington area. The menu offers an expansive collection of choices. I ordered the Salmon Lovers dinner and was impressed with the quality and quantity for the price. I highly recommend this establishment.
We always get the explorer s boat. We love everything in the course. The tempura is the best we ever had!
It was my daughter s birthday, and she loves sushi. I m glad I have found this treasure in town. I brought it home, and it was perfect. Perfectly delicious. Thank you!!
Love this place
I used to love this place and come here often with friends. However, I went on my own and the lady first welcomed me with a pickup? So if a woman comes to enjoy her dinner thats apparently a call that she must be doing a pickup. Very rude to assume. Then she asked if I had a reservation (which they told me on the phone I dont need and to just come in) and said they dont have room for ONE even though there were many open tables without a reservation note. Greedy and embarrassing. This was one of my favorite sushi places but left a not coming back and giving you my money ever again taste in my mouth that night.
A very nice Japanese restaurant with great atmosphere! Be sure to make a reservation before you go as space is limited!
Good Vegetarian options: Vegan options Dietary restrictions: Asked about allergies Kid-friendliness: Lots of things kids would eat
I really enjoy my experience every time I come here. The food is always great, the service is fast and friendly, the prices arent too bad. A few things to note before going... The restaurant is small so if you want to go during a popular time you might want to book a reservation. It also gets breezy when the doors open and close. As mentioned in some other reviews the washrooms are upstairs. It didnt have a parking lot but there is a big lot across the street from it that is free at certain times of the week. Overall Id recommend this place for anyone looking for some great Japanese food.
Slow, average.
I m definitely coming back!!!!
Delicious at every level. Super kind staff. Will become a regular.
Ordered the Sushi Boat for a surprise birthday party absolutely amazing would definitely recommend it
I tried udon this time with chicken and it was great. Good choice for chilly days.
Very good, came here cause I wanted sushi in the area with my gf but it instantly became my favourite sushi place. A little expensive but worth the quality and variety of sashimi. The sushi also had perfect portions and the food had wonderful presentations. Even just entering the door was so nice cause it s in a little nook between two buildings. Overall a good experience.
I dont know why this place holds such a high rating for such sub par service and food. Don t come here, the food is abysmal.
This is the best Japanese restaurant I have ever visited. I have traveled extensively and eaten at many Japanese restaurants. This one stands above any other. Generous portions, great service, and a great price.
Great! The young Japanese waitress was very kind.
This is a very cute local restaurant located in village square in downtown Burlington. They have a very big menu and I wish it was all you can eat. Otherwise, I d say it was a bit pricey, but the quality of food is amazing, so you get what you pay for! There were 2 of us, we ordered the small maki platter and the sushi was delicious, fresh, and made to order. It was more than enough for the both of us! To get the best value, I d recommend you order off of the course menu or platters section. The lakefront is very close to this restaurant so it s a great way to walk off the sushi afterwards!!
Super fresh and very tasty. The tempura was incredibly crispy and not greasy and the rolls wonderful. Highly recommended. Lovely staff as well.
Whent in to dinne in and to find out that they dont do all you can eat, what a disappointment. Prices are abit expensive for what you get at compared to other sushi restaurants. Our food took a long time to arrived had to mentioned to the waiter thinking they forgot to put our order in.
Friendly and welcoming!. Great ambiance and location. Too much rice and breading used and soy sauce was too salty. Service was a bit slow. I waited 25 minutes for two rolls. Prices we re ok and I d go back still. Quality was excellent.
A favourite for dine-in sushi in downtown Burlington! Their Bento lunches are a good variety of different dishes for a great price. Its got a really nice ambiance day or night with the light streaming through the windows or the illuminated parasols on the ceiling. The service and owners are friendly. There are a variety of special rolls to try but a standout is the beef bulgogi roll. Do note that the washroom is upstairs so if you are planning to dine there, it may be difficult to access if you cannot climb stairs.
A wonderful establishment. I personally recommend it 100%. Great service, fantastic sushi portions. Very tasty. My wife and I had a great evening at this restaurant.
Very good food in a setting with friendly staff.
Really enjoyed dinner at Mikado. Its a nice location, across from a public parking lot. The service was really excellent, very attentive and fast. The meal was the highlight, and quite excellent. The portions were generous, and the presentation was quite nice.
The food was great and the customer service was excellent! The best spring rolls I ve ever had!
Great food and service
Excelent food and amazing mango ice cream
Great food and customer service. I wish they would change the kind of wasabi they use. It was not spicy at all.
Really good, freah sushi! The server was very kind and generous! Lovely service!
This place is amazing. The food was perfect, and the service very friendly and timely. The menu has a lot of different options. This was my first time there but for sure not the last one.
Great sushi, great service
Fresh and tasty food, attentive and warm service and clean and cozy dining environment. In a great location too! Highly recommend and I definitely will go again!
I do not understand how this place got such a good rating, as soon as we recieved the food, it did not look presentable.. as we started eating, we noticed it was all cold and within 5 minutes of eating this soo called food or sushi, my stomach was twisting and turning. Never again this place.
What a delicious. There are A variety of menu. Very kindness.
Delicious!
First time trying out this spot in the adorable Village Square - food was delicious & service was wonderful. Thanks for accommodating our family of 5 on a busy night!
We just had the most amazing dinner here. The food was exceptional and the service was wonderful. Their sashimi is the best in Burlington.
Sushi was amazing! Fish was great quality and the vegetable tempura rolls were great. The service is so good, our food came fast and our server was so sweet
Authentic Japanese food... Its delicious and staff is friendly
Our favorite local Japanese restaurant with very good quality and fresh sashimi and the best seafood udon soup in the GTA!
The restaurant is small but elegant in every small detail, the food is fresh and presented properly.
Delicious seafood and Sushi collection, good customer service, friendly staff, expensive compared with other restaurants. Paid parking lot across the street from the restaurant and free parking on Sundays.
Parking: Across the street and free after 6pm. Food
Delicious sushi. A little pricey, but the hubby and i loved it. We will be back. The rice in the rolls was so fresh and delicious. This wasnt sushi that had been sitting out for hours.
Amazing sushi place!!! Totally surpassed expectation.. fish was fresh and very tasteful
I am a Regular here both dine in and takeout. Food is the best among all Japanese restaurants in Burlington: fresh, delicious and not too pricy! And the portion is good. A lunch set bento box is bigger than lots of lunch set in other restaurants. My go place no doubt!
AYCE sushi goers beware, no lunch prices
Wow ! Amazingly fresh sushi , huge portions , great service . Just a fantastic little spot to come for high grade sushi Food : 5/5
Amazing sushi .
