Fantastic restaurant on Church Street in "downtown" Burlington. Great place to go with a group of friends for Mediterranean Mezze (small plates.. like tapas). Everything was high quality and perfect to share with around 3-4 people and while trying a larger variety of 5-6 different dishes... Or until you get full, but don't forget to leave room for dessert which were all delightful as well! The grilled halloumi cheese, Lamb Pide (Mediterranean flatbread with lamb sausage), brussel sprouts, shrimp tabil, lamb bun and Spanakopita were all great options to share.

Honey Road is without a doubt one of my favorite places to simply enjoy the experience of good food and drink. The Mediterranean fare is unique and tasty. The servers are knowledgeable and great for advice and recommendations. It’s small and the wait time can be long, but it’s well worth it.

We had an excellent evening at Honey Road. They accommodated our request for seating on our anniversary. The host(s) and servers were lovely, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We shared 8 dishes, including dessert. I highly recommend their crispy delicata squash and the kale crunch salad. Everything came out so fast, was presented beautifully, and tasted INCREDIBLE.

Wonderful Mediterranean restaurant in Vermont. The food was delicious but I really can’t justify the price for the amount of food you get, they are to be shared aka tapas. You get one pita bread for $4 USD lol. Definitely would recommend for a visit.

Vermont is very dog-friendly, and Burlington is no exception. We've been to Honey Road twice, and each visit was outstanding. They recommend ordering two small plates (like dips or snacks) and two mezze plates. The first time, that was plenty, but the second time it was a bit too much for just the two of us. Most of the dishes are 8/10 or better, and the drinks were fantastic. I highly recommend stopping by when you're in Burlington!

Amazing place. Interesting spins on classic mediterranean dishes. Clearly the focus is on providing quality ingredients with rich but clean flavors. Service is top quality. Atmosphere was very chill, but attentive (this is a pleasant surprise creating such high level amazing food without all the pomp and circumstance). I can totally see why they earned multiple James Beard nominations.

If you can ever be lucky enough to get a table here, buckle in. The food was mind blowingly delicious. Like, maybe some of the best food I have eaten in my entire life. It is well worth the prices. The interior is designed with softer surfaces, so it isn’t so loud. You can have a conversation while you drool over your delicious meal.

By far the most thought out menu in all of Church Street. It helps that the menu is mostly dishes meant to share which adds to the overall feel. Each dish feels like soul food and the folks who work their know what their doing - ask for suggestions and take it. You will not be disappointed.

I have wanted to go here for a while and finally made the decision to tonight. I sat at the bar and the bartender was great and offered great suggestions. The food was fantastic. Just for myself I ordered the baba ghanoush with pita, the kale salad, and the harissa wings. They were all fantastic, especially the wings. My only complaint would be the baba ghanoush portion was a bit small, but everything else was perfect. I will come back next time I am in town.

We were told there was no room inside, would we mind sitting outside? We didnt. My son has a severe nut allergy, so it took the waitress a bit to make sure the menu was safe for him. I really appreciate that. However, perhaps because Im from the DC area where we have the Lebanese Taverna and many Tapas restaurants, I found these servings quite small and expensive. The food was fairly delicious, but at Parisian prices. One glass of wine and two beers later, I paid $95 and was hungry an hour later.

We had reservations (party of 2) and sat down around 5:30. Our server (Ellis) took a few minutes to explain the menu to us and suggest some strategies for ordering along with some of his favorites. In the end, we ordered 2 dips (Muhammara and Hot Pepper Labne) with house made pita, two snacks (Lamb Bun and Haloumi), and an entre (Roasted Eggplant). We finished with Turkish Coffee and a Pannacotta. Everything was great (as was the service), and it all came in around $100. Think this place is an excellent value and experince. Highly recommended.

Tasty as always. Good food, friendly service and an interesting, well priced, if slightly intimidating wine list. Theres a reason its been one of the hottest tables in town since it opened. It can be hard to score a reservation but they usually keep a few tables open for walk ins. Its expensive but less so then some of the other nice Burlington restaurants

My newlywed Wife & I went here to celebrate our fresh marriage. I had given them a heads up in the notes on Resy that this would be a celebration of our nuptials. I also included my wifes fee allergies. As soon as we walked in we were received with a warm smile and checked in promptly. What happened next completely impressed us both and left us feeling happy and at ease to start the night. The person at the front had clearly read the notes left and congratulated us on our new marriage. They even genuinely asked to see our and hear some about the wedding & us. This truly made our night feel special. Next up they pulled out a few different menus from the host stand that were all marked up with black sharpie. Turns out they had already spoken to the kitchen about my wifes allergies, and the chef had taken the time to edit her menu ahead of time so we knew exactly what was safe to eat! And this was all before we even got to our table. Once seated, our server came over promptly and congratulated us as well. She took us through the menu and answered every single question we had and more. She truly guided us through dinner with ease and made us feel special many different ways throughout the night. Our experience was never rushed and she provided the perfect balance of service all night. Needless to say, my wife & I will be coming back here for many many years to come. This restaurant will now always hold a special place in our hearts. Dietary restrictions: If you notify the restaurant ahead of time of all allergies & dietary restrictions, they will take the time to comb through the menu and notify you of safe vs unsafe options

This is a very good restaurant. If youre comparing it to hen of the woods its for and a half stars. But if youre comparing it to most other places in town its 5. The servers are amazing but the kitchen is a little indulgent about time. Some of the top of us were wonderful and some were just good. The wings were very good, the spreads were amazing, the bun was amazing. I would definitely go back.

The food was delicious! Everyone should get their own pita. Unfortunately the otherwise great culinary experience was soured by a waitress who was rude to us after we didn t order drinks. Nice selection of small plates, including good vegetarian options. The fried green tomatoes are particularly tasty, but also impressive because the coating stays put even after you start cutting them. The Basque cheesecake was probably my favorite part, not least of all because the serving size is a bit smaller than some restaurants would do, allowing me to enjoy its quality without feeling bloated afterward. The cherry on top wasn t cherries, but miniature plums on the side. Reservations are tough to score on weekends without planning ahead, but as a solo diner, I was able to be seated at the bar without any wait during prime time on a Saturday. Definitely keeping this spot on my preferred list for my next trip to BVT.

Over rated. Arrived early and got a drink at the bar, bartender was pleasant and knowledgeable. Sat at a table for dinner. Was explained that we order and things come out how they come out. Ordered two items from first three courses. Got our first course, a few minutes later third course arrives before second courses does. Didnt think they would jumble things around like thst. They bring it out faster than Texas Roadhouse. Sat at 5pm out the door by 5:45. Server at the table was rather indifferent and didnt seem to care about anything. Food had good flavor but things you would think would be hot were room temperature at best. Probably wont bother going back.

Honey Road is a very popular restaurant, and it s very busy. Two of my 3 companions loved it. I understand that my rating is lower than others ratings, but I will explain. The dishes are intriguing and not your usual Middle Eastern, Syrian or Lebanese affair. That s a real plus. In fact, I found them often to be more North African than Middle Eastern. What reminded me of North Africa was the very heavy use of hot spices and chiles. I do use some Syrian, hot spices in my own cooking. I had wished for a dish or two that weren t so picoso. But since the current US trend seems to be to very spicy chiloso dishes, others may find these perfectly spiced. I do recommend to the chef to cook the pitas a little more. While my 3 companions seemed pleased with them, I thought the one I tased was a little doughy and under cooked. I also thought the lamb kafta was a little undercooked, but I appreciated that it wasn t dry. With these very spicy foods, I recommend beer over wine.

I was misled by yelp as this is not a 2 dollar sign restaurant more like 3 dollar sign. The 15 dollar 6 pcs chicken wings and 16 dollar fried squid are overpriced IMO as the portion is pretty small. But if you can get pass their just pretentious enough vibe the flavors are definitely delicious and worth a try. Plus the drinks are not expensive.

Parking: We parked about two blocks away in a paid public parking lot during designated hours and free private parking during other hours... We were there during paid hours.... And it was an outrageous cost for parking - price was over $16 for just a couple hours . Theres probably something more reasonable around

TL/DR: This place is awesome. Go now. My girlfriend and I came here last night. Wed had some of their food before at pop-up events before they actually opened, but this was the first time we went to their actual brick & mortar location. We arrived at about 7:30 on Thursday evening and were told it would be about an hour and a half for a table for two. Thats a pretty long time, but they were up front about it so I didnt mind. The place was packed. We went elsewhere to grab a glass of wine while we waited, and came back about 5 minutes short of the expected wait time. My phone chose right then to die, so we went in to let them know we were there and they actually had a table ready to go. We knew going in that its a Turkish/Mediterranean themed, small plate restaurant. My girlfriend and I are both total winos, so the first thing we looked at was the wine list. It. Was. Awesome. Easily one of the best restaurant wine lists weve had recently. Our server, Xenia, was very attentive and helpful when we were so overwhelmed by the wine choices that we couldnt make a decision, and she was obviously very knowledgeable about the wine they sell. For good measure she also sent over (I think) one of the owners, who offered a little more insight. Decisions made, we moved onto the food. We were much more decisive about that. I want to say, we appreciated the order that things came out. Weve been to other small-plates places recently where it seems like everything gets put in at once and they come out when they come out. Maybe it was just random luck that things came out in the order we would have chosen, but Ill give them the benefit of the doubt that it was intentional. We ordered 4 plates, starting with Fried Feta, then moving to Cheese Borek, (Im not sure what kind of cheese this was but it was definitely heartier than the feta), then Chicken Wings with Harissa-Brown Sugar, and finally Mousakka, which was a whole tomato stuffed with Greek cheese, crispy potato, and lamb. All of it was tremendous. Service was fantastic; attentive without being obnoxious. It probably helps that, being a small-plate restaurant, theyre constantly coming by to clear plates or bring out the next thing, so theyre probably more apt to notice when were running low on wine or water or whatever. Regardless, we felt like the service was nearly perfect. We ended with Baklava and Turkish coffee. Im not sure what exactly Turkish coffee is or how its different from regular coffee, but it was delicious, as was the Baklava. All told the bill was in-line with what wed expect for the amount of food we had plus two glasses of wine each. There are a lot of great restaurants in the Burlington area. This one is, I think, wholly unique in their style, and it has immediately moved into the conversation for my favorite restaurant in the area. Go here, you wont regret it.

Such a fun restaurant. The food is great, we love all the dips and pickles and the harissa chicken wings and the lamb kafka. The menu changes seasonally so it always feels fresh. The Bees Teas is an excellent non-alcoholic cocktail and the presentation is beautiful. I appreciate the thought and effort into creating a N/A drink that an adult will feel good about drinking.

June 21, 2024

We were from out of town and opted for the tasting/sharing menu, hoping to experience the best the restaurant had to offer. The description indicated as such, as it did not list the items included. Instead it was a series of low-effort, high-margin snacks really the most uninteresting things on the menu such as the pita and chickpeas. It is clearly meant to tempt customers who aren t regulars, so that the chefs can toss out the easy items that take no effort. For $50/person before tax and tip and drinks, this was an extremely disappointing meal. The food I tried was well executed, but nothing outstanding and, like I said, uninteresting. Besides this, the ambiance of the restaurant didn t live up to the review ratings tables were crammed together and it was noisy. For the record, I m from the area originally, so I know Vermont doesn t have a lot of competition for interesting and creative Mediterranean. That s the only reason I can think of for the glowing reviews.

Absolutely, the food is over priced! Main dishes are not existing (only two dishes). We ordered 7 dishes - (5 we loved it and 2main dishes not great). $35 Pizza pita with sausage is absolutely overpriced and not good! Also, Tuna dish almost had no tuna. We spent $350 with no desert. Warm and comforting. Everything came in logical order, we enjoyed it, but one dish we ordered just didnt come- to the point we debated over whether or not we had more food coming. About 20-25 minutes into waiting and getting quite chilly outside with empty plates in front of us, the server either remembered what was forgotten or the kitchen finished it. It was lukewarm and unsatisfactory. The server herself was authentic and warm. As a whole it didnt meet expectations.

OMG this place is like a flavor party in your mouth. Such unique and interesting blends of Eastern Mediterranean flavors. We were visiting Burlington and stumbled upon this place by chance. Would definitely repeat next time. Every plate was amazing in its own way. Portions are on the smaller side, so if you re hungry you ll probably want to order a good amount of plates. The roasted carrots and house ricotta with honey was a creamy dream, so tasty!! It s a small plate so not sure I would repeat. The braised lamb and simit bun is amazing. Would recommend ordering one per person, it s hard to share and is a must try. Kale salad with tahini sauce is great, easy to share and decently sized. Oh and the lamb kofta, great texture, amazing combination of flavors. Highly recommended. We didn t try any drinks but by the looks of it , they looked like they would be such intriguing blends. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was phenomenal! Our waitress Sam went above and beyond and we really enjoyed talking with her. The different flavors and spices stood out from a lot of other restaurants I ve tried in the Burlington area. Our favorite dish was the grape leaf dolma! We also enjoyed the seared halloumi, sweet harissa chicken wings, grilled octopus, lamb kofta, and braised duck. My only recommendation would be to offer a little more food for the price, we really enjoyed the halloumi but it was $16 for two pieces of cheese. The service is warm and charming, striking a good balance between making you feel comfortable and delivering food in a timely and efficient manner. The atmosphere is snug without feeling cramped, and the high ceilings create a sense of breathing room. The menu is tapas-style; after 4 dishes for dinner followed by 2 desserts, our party of two was quite full. Honey Road is an exceptional culinary experience the kale salad with quinoa is creamy with a delightful crunch. The chicken wings are simply perfect. The dolmas are firm (not mush)with a wonderful spicy edge. And the halibut packs an incredible complexity of flavor. My recommendation just go for the journey. You won t be disappointed.

The food here is superb. Very well seasoned and well executed dishes. I had the trout dish which was sort of like a shakshukah with baked trout and onion. The flavors were wonderful and I kept going back bite after bite to the dish. The spiced chicken wings were equally delicious. My only wish is that this restaurant changed their playlist; the music was 90s rock hits which did not seem to fit the atmosphere of the restaurant (which was otherwise wonderful). I suggest playing some bands like Altin Gün which would fit with the middle eastern and mediterranean aesthetics and tastes. I am very glad they could accommodate many dietary restrictions in our party Dietary restrictions: Fantastic gluten free options

This place was really solid!! Very unique flavors and well done dishes. Among the three of us, our faves were the lamb kofta, halloumi, the octopus and cheese pide. We loved the Murahamma and the pita was soo soft and fluffy. Everything was had was great. 2-3 portions per person were great, we were 2 girls and 1 guy and 8 dishes left us all full and satisfied. The service and atmosphere were great, it is a bit of a wait (30-40min on Saturday for a bar seat) but you can show up in person and wait for a text instead of waiting at the restaurant.

The food is some of the best in the state and is a great change of pace from the some of the more standard regional food restaurants in Vermont. Our server was fantastic, knowledgeable about the menu and very personable. The decorations in the restaurant were very nice and atmospheric as well, the only thing I would say is that the dining room was a little small but without moving from church street that would be hard to change. Dietary restrictions: My girlfriend has a peanut allergy and the restaurant was great at accommodating it. After we arrived they saw the allergy mentioned in the reservation and made sure to cross out every entre with peanuts integrated into it and to put a asterisk next to any entrees with a different nut or potential contamination. This was above and beyond the expectation and just helped to add to the experience.

There are other places you can get same quality food at a better price. I would say try it at least once. Top restaurants for me would be single pebble, eb strongs, and pascolo. Almost $200 for 2 people. Single pebble was the sMe price with like 8 coarse.

My partner and I went and at a bar for about 20 minutes for two seats at the bar. We ordered baba ghanoush, Hummus, zaatar garlic knots, harissa chicken wings, Kofta, and a glass of wine. The portions were small and the food was pretty good, but not authentic and well overpriced. We both went home hungry and our bill was generously over $100. Not to mention, the experience felt cheapened by the fact that they charged you extra if you wanted your mezze to come with pita ($2 for a piece of pita!?), and the zaatar garlic knots was one (albeit apple sized) garlic knot that came with barely a hint of zaatar anywhere near it. At the end of the day, that was just an $8 garlic knot. The wings were overcooked and the kofta was OK, but everything tasted like an American adaptation not true to the culture except for the baba ghanoush which was absolutely delicious. The service was busy and preoccupied but polite and the restaurant space was beautiful. However, it is clear that you are paying for their astronomical rent at that location, not good food and certainly not middle eastern cuisine. If I were to go again, I would easily recommend ordering a glass of wine, maybe a cocktail, some baba ghanoush, and bringing your own pita.

As someone from the middle east, its insulting that a restaurant would charge so much for such small portions. We paid $200 and left hungry. Selling a dip for $8 thats literally a microscopic dollop without even a pita to dip in it is unacceptable. Avoid this place.

It was ok. The food was over hyped and the struggle to get a reservation doesnt help. Portions are small, which would be OK, but the composition of dishes was mediocre. The peppers on the Pepper Labne were jalapenos from a jar. The Hummus wasnt anything special. We both would have gotten 2nd cocktails, but our server was only seen to order and give the bill. Dishes were all dropped off by someone else. Despite being told to order all at once and have the food staggered, it all just kept coming. At one point we had 9 dishes on the table at the same time. It felt rushed. Oh, and the music playlist was strange. Like an 80s vibe. It seemed like an odd choice. The whole thing was just OK. We wont be back, it wasnt worth it for almost $200

We had been planning a trip to honey road for a while. We made a reservation more than a week before. It seems to be at capacity during most of their operating hours. The restaurant decor was incredible. The style of the furniture and lighting was gorgeous and made for a relaxing setting. We ordered 4 items for 2 people. The first thing that came out was the tahini hummus and it was incredibly flavorful and smooth. I thought how amazing can hummus actually get? Its so simple. But turns out the chefs at Honey Road have hummus perfected with a great balance of oil, Tahiti, chickpeas and blended in a way that makes it smooth and light. Cant go wrong ordering it as a starter! We received the Baba Ganoush with pickled cauliflower next and it was incredible. We had warm toasted pita to enjoy the Baba with. It was delicious and elegantly crafted. It was the smoothest Baba Ganoush I have had and the cauliflower was mind blowing. The next item was the Leb Lebi - spiced fried chickpeas. These were very crispy and without being too hard or crunchy. The spices were out of this world. This was the smallest of the 4 items we ordered but also one of the cheapest on the menu. We also ordered the Sweet Harissa chicken wings which had a sweet Barbecue style sauce that was like no chicken wing I have ever eaten. I eat almost entirely vegetarian but made the exception at Honey Road as I had heard great things about several dishes. Lastly Ill mention we got two cocktails that were both exquisite (I got the Luna). I grew up in a middle eastern household and I tried to be as critical as I could with Honey Road but they left me in awe. The dishes are on the expensive side for the size they are but I think the food and experience was beyond worth it. Amazingly well run restaurant with a menu you could never get bored of. We will be returning here for our next big dinner date!

Surprising to me the local tolerance of the pricing of this establishment. Don t get me wrong, there was some great food, but I cannot for my life fathom the decisions this restaurant has made when designing its menu; the first and most alarming red flag is offering mezze (hummus, babaganoush, etc ) without something to dip in it. If I were to go to a Mexican restaurant and order salsa, how do you think I d feel to learn that chips are charged separately? Ludicrous. Restaurant prides itself on quality ingredients when the spicy labneh clearly has bought-in pickled jalepenos and the $25 4 piece shrimp plate had an almond sauce with a heavily handed almond extract in tow. I m glad this local joint is busy, I m glad that they have a great staff, but this ain t it. Won t be back, won t recommend. Not worth the $$$.

We thought it was a great restaurant from a great chef but we will return to Hen of the Woods instead. In 2019 Honey Road was one of my favorite restaurants in Burlington, which is saying something because there are so many great places to eat! My friends and I were so excited to finally come back, but were really disappointed. The dips (most noticeably the muhammara) came out smaller than we remembered, but we thought they d increase in size as the courses went on. But as it continued, the dishes remained small and slowly came one at a time, which meant each of us got the tiniest spoonful of food and felt like we were rationing bites. We had to go somewhere else after to make up for how hungry we still were. It made us so sad because we really loved this spot back in the day :(

Honey road is a must-visit restaurant. If you ve ever eaten here it should be no surprise to you that there are multiple James Beard Award nominees in the kitchen. And unfortunately for us that means booking reservations a few weeks in advance. Fortunately for them- that means a full restaurant most days of the week. My first visit to honey road was for cocktails and whipped feta before I moved out of state. Now when I visit, it s one of the top restaurants on my list. This evening I was sad to see that the whipped feta was off the menu, but there was still plenty to devour and delight in. We started with two dips- the muhamarra and the hot pepper labneh with winter squash and harissa. Muhamarra is one of my favorite dips and this was top notch. Labneh was not spicy and was in fact a soothing blend of squash with a dollop of infused labneh and harissa in the middle. A little warmth but nothing too hot. We split 2 pita among three people and that was perfect for these two apps. Our first mezze item was the farm greens salad, with delicata squash, cranberries and pepitas atop an herby whipped goat cheese. It was a delicious in between bite. The star of tonight s show was the broccolini Caesar. The broccolini itself was perfectly cooked with a little bit of char, mixed with a tahini Caesar sauce/dressing, avocado, and cheese crackers. Every bite on its own was yummy but together? They soared. The earthiness of the broccolini, the creaminess of the avocado, and the sharp salt and crisp of the cheese was everything. I would go back again and again for that dish. We also got the cauliflower, which was amazing, but it came after the broccolini and truly that wasn t a fair fight. For proteins we ordered the sweet harissa chicken wings and the lamb kafta. The chicken wings have been on the menu since the beginning and their spot there is deserved. Sweet, slightly spicy, reliably delicious. The dried lime labneh is lovely but not necessary unless you have no spice tolerance. I don t typically eat a lot of lamb, but the herbs mixed with the meat and the pairing of apple and caramelized leeks made me a believer. For dessert, we had the brown butter pecan cake (with buttermilk raspberry ice cream and figs) which was utterly perfect. Soft spongey cake which makes a perfect vehicle for the luxurious ice cream. We also got the chocolate coffee tart, which sat upon a caramel of sorts, topped with maple labneh, and had diced pumpkin coated in your favorite seasonal spices along side it. Pumpkin has literally never tasted so good. My dining partners additionally shared a slice of baklava, which was delightfully flakey, nutty, and bound together with the perfect amount of honey. Big props to the milk & honey cocktail (a cheeky play on a bees knees with labneh and lavender) as well as the garden variety (a mezcal cocktail with ?celery? that you will definitely want to order a second of). TLDR? Book your reservation now, as the flavors move with the seasons and you don t want to miss this fall menu.
