Buvette Restaurant and Wine Bar in Burlington

I had high hopes for Buvette, but unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. We had a reservation for 20 people at 8 PM, which was pushed to 8:30 on the day of the event. Despite this adjustment, we didn t end up sitting down until 9 PM. Adding to the frustration, we were required to pre-order our meals a week in advance, yet we didn t receive any food until around 11 11:30 PM. For a group dining experience, this kind of delay is unacceptable. When the food finally arrived, it was a mixed bag. My chicken was cold and overcooked, a major letdown. The Buvette salad, on the other hand, was excellent, and the Brussels sprouts were mediocre at best. That said, I want to highlight that the waitstaff was fantastic. They were clearly put in a tough position and did their best to stay attentive and accommodating under difficult circumstances. I m generally not picky, but this was one of the worst dinner services I ve ever had. To make matters worse, there were no efforts to make up for the delay no bread, appetizers, or anything to tide us over while we waited. Overall, the experience was frustrating and far from what I d expect at a place like Buvette.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Buvette restaurant I can confidently say it was one of the best dining experiences I ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and soft lighting that set the perfect mood. The service was impeccable with Chris as our sever. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. It was clear the staff took pride in delivering top-notch hospitality.

We always enjoy going to Buvette! The food is always delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy. We have had Darcey as our server numerous times, and its always a treat to be served by her! She is so kind and super responsive and always ensures we are cared for! Having a wonderful server like her makes the experience way better! We will be back!

The restaurant is beautiful and the food was good, but the service was awful. Our server changed twice and took very long to tend to the table repeatedly. The music was also so loud. I understand it s important to have music for the ambience, but I couldn t hear the person sitting across from me.

It was our first time visiting Buvetti with a few friends. We were seated in the lower section, very comfortable, the lighting was great, and the music was perfect. As the evening went on, the lighting got darker in the music got louder which was perfect for us. The food and the sides we ordered were excellent. Unfortunately, our server Darcey seem to be rushing us along and was very standoffish. Our guest built a glass of wine and received a rude comment however, she did provide a top up on the house. To get to the washroom, you need to climb a lot of stairs. The bar got busy after dinner and was a great spot for an after dinner drink.

We have been here twice and really enjoyed all of our food both times! The atmosphere can be a bit dark and loud, especially later in the evening but we didn t mind. The steak BBs and calamari fritti are great appetizers and I my wife loves the mushroom risotto. We would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a place for a special occasion.

IF I COULD GIVE THIS RESTAURANT ONE STAR I WOULD. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GET BETTER SERVICE AT THE KEG! I am absolutely repulsed by our server, we had a table for 12 and his rudeness was insane, for a high end restaurant you would think they would cater to their clients more. First he was rude, second he was walking away as I am asking him questions about the menu acting like he is too good for this table because he had other tables but we are a table for 12... so obviously it will take more work. When it was time to order I was very clear on what my boyfriend and I will order. we ordered a total of 3 things. The food starts coming out and I realize that my boyfriend received a steak frites instead of filet mignon, we said we did not order that and he said are you sure you do not want it because the filet mignon will take a long time to make now.... excuse me? It is not our fault you got the order wrong... our friend beside us ordered the steak frites so im sure he got confused and just wrote down 2 instead of 1 filet mignon and 1 steak frites HOWEVER he was very passive when taking back the plate that HE messed up on. My order came fine but I told him I was missing my side which i paid EXTRA for and wanted to eat with my main entree... he was WALKING AWAY WHILE I AM TELLING HIM I AM MISSING FOOD and he said ok ok ... it ended up coming with my boyfriends steak. which came 30 minutes late. No compensation, did not offer us a drink or a salad in the mean time while 10 of our friendd were eating at the table and we did not have our food plates in front of us... we literally had nothing in front of us for most of the dinner and out food came nearly as dessert was being served. No proper manners from the waiter, I still have his name and would love to talk to management but of course nobody answered their email and wanted to talk about it so I resorted to this google review instead. In comparison. - At the keg when they miss something in your order, they compensate you or they offer you a complimentary appetizer or SOMETHING. This waiter was beyond rude and did not care that he messed up our entire order and experience. Not even a penny off on our bill either. HORRIBLE - WILL NOT BE RETURNING BASED ON THE SERVICE ALONE. Extremely disappointed with this place.

Good food, great atmosphere and service. It did get a little loud with the music (and then the pellet around us talking over the music even louder). Otherwise a great experience.

Enjoyed a great meal here last night! Food was great, service was great and decor was lovely. Two pieces of feedback that could be very helpful if you want to make it a better experience. 1. The music is too loud, which caused people to talk too loud to try to hear each other. Was not conversation friendly because of how loud it was. We wanted to enjoy conversation with our friends and it was challenging. 2. It is too dark inside. Had to use a flashlight to read the menu and more importantly, when our meals came, we had to use a flashlight to see what was on our plates. That said, the presentation on the plate was beautiful, there were colourful flowers and herbs which showed great effort and pride in the presentation, but it was lost because of the darkness, you cannot see this as you are eating. It doesn t have to be bright in the restaurant, but you need to see to order and see what you are eating

I cant say enough good things about Buvette From the moment you walk in, youre greeted with warm, attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The staff is always friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure an exceptional dining experience. The chef Joel is truly a master of his craft. Whether youre ordering a signature dish or trying something new, youre in for a treat. The owner Alex is equally amazing, often stopping by to check in with guests. Its clear that this restaurant is a labor of love, and that dedication shines through in every aspect. Overall, this place delivers on all fronts delicious food, top-notch service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Its hands-down my favorite spot to dine!

Mitch is the BEST security guard I ve ever met! Takes it so seriously, doesn t ever let too drunk people in, one of the only places that doesn t prioritize quantity over quality! He s awesome.

Absolutely disgusted with this place. My friend and I decided to have a drink here after first stopping into Dickens next door where the music wasnt to our liking. I told the owner they play better music then Dickens, and Im not sure what rivalry might exist between these two establishments, but he asked me if i washed my hands before coming into his restaurant, insinuating Dickens is THAT dirty. I immediately paid my bill and we left. This man is a disgrace to the hospitality industry. Will never go back.

Amazing food! Best Caesar salad I ve ever had. The rack of lamb was out of this world! The cheesecake is to die for! Highly recommend this restaurant. If you love good food, this is the place to go! Yes, it s a little on the high end price wise, but worth every penny.

On August 4th, I had a traumatic experience at Buvette Restaurant in Burlington. I went there with my wife and two kids to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worse when I discovered a bandaid in my mouth while eating the Lobster Cocktail Royale appetizer. This is not only extremely unappetizing but also a serious violation of public health protocols. Given this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to family or friends and have been sharing my experience with anyone who inquires. We have been unable to eat out since that night due to the lasting impact of this incident. Such issues should not occur in any restaurant, especially one with a high ranking like Buvette.

We decide to try Buvette for the first time after hearing some good things about the place. First off- well-done ambiance and modern décor, creating a stylish and comfortable setting to enjoy our meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, contributing to a positive overall experience. My wife and I decided to sample a few appetizers and share an entrée. Unfortunately, the food didn t live up to the high praise we had read in reviews. The **Steak BB s** was dry and tough, which was disappointing. On the brighter side, the **shrimp cocktail** was fresh and enjoyable. However, the **fried calamari** was overcooked and rubbery, leaving much to be desired. For our entrée, we had the **lobster gnocchi**. The gnocchi themselves were well-prepared and quite delicious, but the lobster was overcooked, and the sauce lacked the depth of flavor we were hoping for. It s possible the kitchen was having an off night, and while our experience wasn t stellar, we might give Buvette another try in the future to see if things improve.

This place is a joke. Please note they do NOT let you just sit down and have drinks in the dining area, you MUST eat and appetizers don t count for this LOL (does not specify when you make a reservation) The owner is probably one of the most incompetent people I have ever talked too. If you don t look rich don t bother going. I made a reservation for 5 people (had ppl drive from Toronto) and we were denied our table because we told him we are just having drinks, WHAT IS THAT. Anyways, call ahead of time even if you have a reservation to make sure they actually want your business LOL place is an absolute joke.

The atmosphere, decor, and overall ambiance of this place is all well put together, unfortunately thats where the experience peaks. Youre paying what I would consider to be premium prices but the food, drinks, and service are just average. Nothing that we consumed really stood out, no depth of flavor, nothing we tried left us wanting to come back to eat it again. Its a nice place but a bit overpriced for the overall experience.

Possibly one of the worst customer experiences ever. I reached out to the restaurant three weeks ago to arrange a family dinner for an 80th birthday party. We wanted a round table and easy access for a party of seven. A reservation was made for 7pm, with assurance that we would be seated downstairs, with minimal steps for my mother. Two days before our dinner, I received a text from the restaurant asking me to confirm number and time. I did. And this is where it gets interesting. They advised in a text that they could not accommodate the table request and that we would have to dine at 6.30pm. They said the round tables are for large groups. I called and they would not honour the reservation we had made, location or time. At this point, I should have canceled the reservation and booked elsewhere - but with only two days notice, this wasn t an option. We arrived to find that we were placed at a booth for 5, not a round table for 7. The table was upstairs, 3 flights of stairs to be exact, after specifically asking for a seating that had easy access for my 80 year-old mother. When advised that the sun was blinding us, I m not sure the waiter could have been less helpful. The music was quite loud, and we asked if it could be turned down a little so we could talk, it wasn t. And after advising them that it was a landmark birthday at time of reservation and again at two days prior when they wanted reservation confirmation, they did nothing to celebrate. Food was good, but we will never go back. We understand that sometimes things go wrong, but the multitude of inconsiderate actions leave me wishing we went somewhere else on the night.

Great food, great atmosphere

I had a wonderful experience at Buvette with my lady. They treated us like gold. The food is top notch, try the cioppino it s to die for! Also I m a cheesecake lover and I dream of that mascarpone one! Will 100% be back to try out more of the menu.

This is the ABSOLUTE BEST RESTAURANT in Burlington. I simply don t have the words to describe how delicious the food is. Better than delicious? That s all I got. The bartender Jesse is so professional and friendly. Sitting on the patio if he is working is a guaranteed good time. His service is out of this world. Handsome guy to boot, for those single ladies out there. Overall, having extensive experience dining in downtown Burlington, Buvette is the ONLY place you want to be.

Terrible Service. I hate giving one star reviews but this was the worse of the worse. The doorman was unprofessional and probably inebriated.

Good spot, good food, good service. Unorganized when it s busy, they need to figure that out. We were kicked off our table after 90 mins for a larger party. To pay that amount of money to be told to leave after 90 mins, for whatever the reason, is unacceptable. You want to be a premier restaurant in Burlington figure it out.

I had the most disappointing dining experience at Buvette restaurant in Burlington last night. Despite having a reservation, we were seated 20 minutes late. The table they gave us was a mismatch of three different table sizes awkwardly joined together. When we complained, the owner was indifferent and simply said, This is the table I have. Things only got worse from there. Our food was delayed by an astonishing 1.5 hours. When it finally arrived, they served food for only two people of our group first, and the rest of us had to wait another 10 minutes. We were celebrating the birthdays of two friends, and to top it all off, they charged us a fortune just to serve the birthday cakes we brought ourselves. This was the worst experience Ive ever had at a supposedly high-end restaurant. To add insult to injury, we ended up paying a fortune for this terrible service. I would not recommend Buvette to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

Good vibe, but our meal took a very long time to come out, an hour after our appetizer plates were cleared. Steak was cold unfortunately. Very expensive for what you get. Too bad, I was really looking forward to trying Buvette!

Neighborhood gem...great service & crowd!

I had my friend s birthday at this restaurant. The location is fantastic. I tried the raspberry mojito there which was okay. Food was great, definitely had lots of flavour! Perhaps a little on the expensive side, but definitely worth giving it a try! I would come back here for a special event/celebration. Our server was also really great!

Excellent food and atmosphere

We had heard great things about this restaurant however we did not have a great experience. We had made reservations, but when we arrived on time at the restaurant, we had to wait 20 minutes for the table to be ready. We were seated upstairs where the atmosphere was nothing special. Most of the tables were empty, and there was only one other party up there. Service was not great. We were never offered wine with dinner, and I had to get up refill our own water as our server would disappear for long periods of time (The main floor of the restaurant was busy, so I assume he was paying more attention to that area of the restaurant). And the food was certainly not worth the price. My Burger was extremely sloppy, and fell apart before I could finish it. And my wife s salmon had a hair baked right into it. She pulled it out to show the server. And while he did offer to replace the meal, my wife was turned off the food by this point. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Had great apps and cocktails with a friend on Saturday night. Its a very busy place music a good vibe.

Found this place by accident after our original plans to Prime Steakhouse failed as their kitchen was closed . Well, maybe this was a sign ! Nestled in a cute tiny village-style area, this likely doesnt look like much from the outside. The inside is dark, cocktail lounge themed ambiance . Dirty Gin martinis were perfect ! One of the best Ive had . Crystal clear but with a hint of dirty . Oysters were amazing . Great Cesar salad and mashed potatoes are yum yum in my bum bum . Got the 24 oz bone in rib eye. Perfect size for 2 people. Cooked to medium rare and seared on the outside, it was perfectly salty. While this was good steal, it was not among the best Ive ever had but it sure beats The Keg by a landslide . Overall, great service and great dining experience.

Had matt serve us today, he was great. Provided elegance to a great meal. Definitely recommend the calamari and buvette salad they are incredibly good. Wait time per meal is about 10-15minutes which is amazing for the quality they present. Recommend this for people who enjoy quality cuisine.

I ve been to Buvette a few times now with family and friends and it s been great! Price is definitely on the higher end. My husband and I were at Buvette to celebrate our anniversary yesterday and as always the food was great we had the truffled mushroom risotto and chicken as well as the KFC and Beet salad. The best part was the service provided by Ally, she was absolutely amazing and took care of us. Thank you Ally for making our night memorable and special!!

Went for late night dinner and loved it!

Fantastic place, amazing food and exceptional service. Every time we go here the food is always delicious and cooked to perfection. The service is always terrific and our server today was also very informative about the menu. Wish I recalled the servers name, our bill said Chris ! Wow what an experience, we came to celebrate my wife s Birthday and Darcy was our server she was amazing,we loved all the dishes but the grilled calamari stood out , we will be back for sure

Food is terrible and to noise a very expensive!!

Didn t even get inside to experience the place as I was immediately greeted by the doorman wearing the most horrendous shoes I ve ever seen refuse entry as we didn t have a booking, despite the fact I could see the place was relatively and it was past the dinner time rush. Huge let down as it looks like a great place. Clearly this guy thinks he is something. Before his he spent most of his time chatting up ladies smoking outside.

No air-conditioning (or close to no A\C) on the main floor and the temperature was unbearable and the staff made excuses it s an old house and basically it is what it is. We were literally melting. My 8 month pregnant daughter was extremely uncomfortable in this very hot restaurant. Absolutely terrible experience the worst close to $700 I ve ever spent. I do not recommend going in the summertime/hot temperatures to this restaurant and IF you do ask for upstairs.

I had the worst experience today at Buvette. I am newly engaged and my sister and I popped in to inquire about having my wedding there. A man, who I can only assume is the owner didn t even greet us and when I asked about having a wedding there he was so rude and dismissive and said flat out no. Then he said if it s on a Friday or Saturday I would have to rent out the whole restaurant. I said that would be ok and he looked at me and said no, insinuating that I couldn t afford to rent out his restaurant. I was very embarrassed and thanked him and left. I have lived in the Burlington core my whole life and anyone who knows me knows I love Burlington so much. I have never been treated with such haughty disrespect. It s very sad to see. Business owners should never judge a book by its cover. Sadly, none of my family or friends will ever be going back to Buvette.

Just arrived at Buvette at around 10pm. My girlfriends had made a reservation and were in the bar drinking. As I approached the door a gentleman named Mitch proceeded to yell at me wow where do you think you re going to which I replied I have a reservation. He then proceeded to state reservation under who, you can t get in, have your friend come to the door . When my friend approached the gentleman he stated I cannot come in and told me to leave. Not to mention he made a racist comment. Nice to know a restaurant in Burlington thinks they re as bougie as LA or New York

Great energy, food and ambience

What an amazing experience. The food was amazing with lots of different choices to fit the pickiest of eaters. The service was best in class, very attentive and friendly, ensuring we had the best time possible. This extends to the owner who continually came over to our table to ensure we were having the best time possible. Would definitely recommend visiting if you enjoy great food and atmosphere.

Ok food. Good service. Too tight inside. So tight in fact, that they seated my wife and I with strangers. They built up a little fake wall in the middle of a 4 person table with empty wine boxes. We booked weeks in advance. Wont be back and you should definitely ask in advance if you are being seated with strangers. You are literally part of someone else s conversation over dinner.

Great food and service

The server forgot to bring the side we ordered that goes with dinner , after we asked for it had someone else serve it after the meal was complete where we sent it back irritated. Then the server had audacity to say, we did not include it in bill and apologize for it being cold. If you like being rushed and servers with attitude this is your ideal restaurant. All around an amazing, delicious experience at Buvette. From the head chef to our server, we had wonderful customer service. The carnivore platter was 10/10 ! And the cocktails were on point. Will be back for sure.

One of the best Restaurants I ve ever been to. The entrees, the mains, the drinks, everything was over the top! Brussel sprouts were to die for! As a group, many of us shared pieces of our mains and it all melted in your mouth! Highly recommended and will be back!

Staff are not friendly

I attended on a Friday night for a friend s birthday. We were seated at a round table in the middle of the lower level, but the music was so loud it was impossible to hear any conversations being had amongst our group. The oysters were great! We shared Caesar d and calamari, also very great. I had ordered a burger but only had a couple bites out of it. The taste was very bland and the fries were more on the soggy side. Our server was good - drinks came out minutes after being ordered and the food didn t take long. I would definitely return to try other options on the menu as well to enjoy their patio in the summer.

Loved the atmosphere. Came here with my wife. We had a great time. The wine selection recommended by Criss was I excellent choice The food was very tasty. We felt like we were in a little trip away Dad from home. We enjoyed every moment and will come again with friends.

Being a server downtown Burlington myself, I have heard lots of similar stories from here and suggest you spend your money elsewhere. Couldn t even make it past the bouncers who are clearly not sober and will yell at patrons including women. Sad place. To whoever that bouncer is, grow up and learn how to be a functional human. Ps: other servers and industry people will spend /tip a lot in your restaurant.

I m a semi-regular here and genuinely have enjoyed it, sadly I will not be returning. As a member of hospitality management I would HIGHLY recommend you don t allow your staff (especially bouncers, specifically Mitch) to be high while on shift. We were allowed in without a reservation to have drinks at the bar but then abruptly kicked out because one member of our party had a backpack with him, meanwhile my purse was much larger than his backpack (they claimed size was an issue). My friend asked if they had a coat check, they said they didn t (what fine dining restaurant doesn t offer a place to keep your coat/bag) When I asked for clarification of why people can t bring backpacks into their establishment I was met with hostility and violence. Super unacceptable especially for a place with this price tag, the food is good but not nearly good enough to excuse the way they treat people. Edit** spoke with management (Alex) and a server (Christos), they only made the situation worse. Said they didn t allow drunk children from the dickens , we were all 27+ and sober as we were coming from work. The downtown Burlington restaurant scene has so much to offer, please don t waste your money here.

Definitely not fine dining! You do not want to take your first date or any other date there afterwards- although it s an awesome place if you don t want to talk to your date or partner! The music is so loud EVERYONE is yelling at each other! Absolutely impossible to have a romantic dinner. For the cost IF you could actually enjoy the atmosphere would be ok, but to eat and run because you feel a migraine coming on, it would be better to go to the casino where your $500 would possibly be worth the headache!

This was my 3rd time dining at Buvette. First time was an excellent experience and unfortunately the last two times the experience was disappointing. We were a group of 4. They lost our reservation ( I had confirmation on my phone) they made us wait 40 min to get seated, and didn t offer a drink at the bar. We just stood there. I mean it s not about a free drink but it is about being acknowledged and taken care of as a customer. The owner was drinking at the bar with his buddies and didnt seem to care he had customers just standing there. Once we got seated in the main room the waitress serving us forgot our drink order twice. The calamari were so greasy and pale. The waitress forgot cutlery and couldn t be found. The male that was serving other tables was incredible and kept apologizing and trying to compensate for poor service despite us not being in his section. We had to hint her down for water and drinks. The main specials we ordered were disappointing .the food had great presentation but was very bland and greasy. Service was so bad we thought we were being pranked. I went again with another group for a birthday and again service sucked in the main room all the while the male server trying to compensate for other s lack of initiative and touch. Food was better this time around. Additionally Mitch the doorman is a hoot though. It s very pretty inside and the picture booth is fun. Overall Not enough to compensate for bad service and sub par experience.

Came here for a nice little date night, overall the server was great, the food was poor and misleading and the atmosphere was good. We ordered the caviar, scallops and oysters Rockefeller for apps. They were all out of caviar as they were apparently using it for other dishes. The scallops were advertised as adorned with caviar, they unfortunately came with fake little black spheres, not real caviar. The oysters were okay, but just a gooey mess, not broiled properly and full of broken shell/sand. For mains we went with the Ribeye for 2, it was well done in parts and medium in others. The whole thing was cold and mushy with no sear whatsoever. I suspect they sous vide the steaks to save time and have better consistency, but it was just bad and nowhere near 24oz as advertised, closer to 12. The truffle fries were quite good. Crème Brûlée and Cheese cake for dessert. The Cheesecake was all bad, who covers the plate with dark chocolate for a blueberry vanilla cheesecake? Crust was bad. The crème brûlée was fine, but not great. I suspect this place is burning cash which is why they are cutting corners and will shut its doors relatively soon. Go to Cima for a better experience across the board.

I recently had a great experience at this restaurant. The ambiance was lovely, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing, leaving me impressed with each dish I tried. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. However, one area that could be improved is the choice of wines by the glass. While there were options available, I felt that the selection could have been more extensive. Nonetheless, the overall dining experience was fantastic, and it did not detract from my overall enjoyment. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. The flavors and quality of the food were outstanding, and the atmosphere added to the overall charm. Despite the slight limitation with the wine selection, I would definitely visit again and recommend it to others who appreciate good food and a delightful ambiance.

Fun vibe, very loud (some acoustic fabric would really help). We d go back for a drink / app. The service was ok, food was fine but nothing more. Pre dinner cocktails came after the apps, we cancelled our bottle of sparkling because it paired with the apps. Had glasses of red with main, upon finishing we were offered dessert we said yes to coffee and were advised bill was coming with it and we had ten minutes to leave. Overall the experience fell significantly below the very high price.

: Extremely disappointed with our recent visit to Buvette. When we arrived to the location we were denied entry because a family member was wearing a hat and jeans. The staffs refusal was not only unwarranted but also delivered with a judgmental tone, making us feel unwelcome. A restaurants hospitality should extend beyond dress code policies. Sadly, our experience was tarnished by unnecessary rigidity, and we wont be returning.

My fiancé and I just had the worst experience. We were denied entry because he was wearing a hat. We said no problem and then he came back and he said they were full for reservations. They clearly were not as the bar was dead for a Saturday night at 10:30pm. Extremely disappointed and we will never come back. We ve lived in Burlington for years and we felt so unwelcome

Had a nice dinner at Paradiso . Decided to extend the night with a few more drinks. We were walking earlier and we were in casual attire. Arrived at 830 to 25% capacity and one person at the bar. We were told they were booked up! Its a shame because we both have an appreciation for higher end drinks but were turned away because of our looks. Save your money folks, dont give it to arrogant pretentious people who do not care about service.

The food was good, unfortunately it is very difficult to enjoy it. I have never dined at such a loud restaurant. The food is 4/5, the ambiance is a 1. If I wanted to listen to gym bros screaming while throwing $500 sharable dishes of meat around, whilst birthday parties take turns to see who can shout loudest, I would dine in Ibiza. Pity, food is great, atmosphere is perfect for the deaf. If I dine there again, I will surely be one of them. To sum up, great food, obnoxious staff (grinded my teeth while hitting the tip button. 1 hour after the reservation and to get a drink, the guy was terrible), clientele and atmosphere. But seeing the Globe recently ran an article about this particular phenomenon, I think it must be a modern trend.

I was so excited to finally try this place thats in my hood. Booked a bday dinner for 4 people and felt I needed to be honest with my review so that management can take a good look at operations. At this point, I dont think well consider returning again, unless its during the week and they dont blast the music and allow large parties shouting during an expensive $250-$300 per couple dinner. 1) THE LATE SEATING: They seated us 30 mins past our reservation time. We wouldnt have minded but there was no area at the bar to stand because its such a small and cramped area. The manager on duty accidentally walked into our friend who was standing at the cramped bar area, and didnt notice knocking some of his drink. No apologies and we didnt bother making a big deal. 2) THE WAITER: We still tipped 16%, but our waiter was aloof, a bit rude, didnt bring us our wine before dinner or take our order until almost 30 mins after being seated. He then decided to set a table for about 10 people abd I motioned him over so we can get our drinks, to which his reply was, can you give me some time since Im setting the table. The most surprising was he didnt offer us takeout boxes He stacked our plates and before I know it, some ribeye steak was wasted, brussels, and delicious fries 1/3 eaten. 3) THE NOISE: HOLY the noise. I suggest turning down the music so that people are not talking over it. We decided to turn on an app and recorded it at over 82 decimals, and that was after one very loud group of people had just left The music was good but too loud for a restaurant that offered sharing plates for $500! It was weird that groups of people would feel the right to yell and party like it was a bar. This one is a tough one. You dont want to tell people to quiet down bc youll offend them. Turn down the music. 4) THE FOOD: The seafood shareable bowl was $65 and it was delicious. Slightly tempurad items like lobster tail, shrimps, and asparagus, with nicely grilled calamari. 5) The shareable ribeye on its own was $95. Good portion for 2 people but it was not great value. We ordered two sides but they really need to include sides. 6) The tuna tartar was EXCELLENT

Very rude server. Wouldnt check with kitchen regarding ingredients in dishes and didnt know himself. Isnt that the bare minimum expectation? Gave me attitude upon asking if he could check with kitchen. Felt awkward the rest of dinner.

Had an amazing time on Saturday night. This place is Beautiful! The location, the people, right down to the presentation of their food and cocktails! Reservations are highly recommended but either way...Truthfully the food is worth the wait! Perfect for date night or just an evening with friends or family. Cannot wait to try their patio this summer!

My husband and I stumbled upon this place a while ago walking through the village one night. We did try to drop in, but they rarely take walk in s. Reservations get booked pretty fast, so we did have to wait a few weeks, but it was certainly worth the wait. The food and atmosphere were amazing. I got two separate cocktails that were also delicious. We absolutely loved it. I did dock a star only because it s a little louder than I was expecting and if you stay late in the evening, the environment gets a little busier, but that s merely preference. I m sure that s what some are looking for. Overall, great dining spot.

Wanted to check out this place for so long. Finally went today. TERRIBLE PLACE. They first gave us a table and took it away after we had already ordered food and drink forcing us to move for some other people that must ve arrived at the restaurant. They forced us to move to the bar all before our food arrived. Being a regular at all fine dining in Oakville and Toronto I have never had an Experience like this. Felt like leaving right away, completely offended and treated as a valueless patron. Manager was extremely rude and ill mannered - even brought me my bill FOR my food that I cancelled AFTER he says the food is on us . so ended up paying for everything .. Very disappointing. From business owner to business owner this is not how you treat customers and clients. NEVER GOING BACK OR RECOMMENDING to ANYONE.

We went downtown to try Martini house, but yet again never seem to have room for two. We continued walking down and saw the nice patio with huge umbrellas. We thought why not? We walked in, and offered patio seating without a reservation. It didnt feel crowded and had great music playing. The servers were all helpful and chatted with us, helping us decide on drinks and food. We had great drinks, and the food was amazing!! The beef carpaccio was a good appetizer size to share. Had the buvette salad with salmon, that was cooked to perfection! My husband had lobster gnocchi, which was the best gnocchi hes ever had. We had a great time, absolutely nothing to complain about.

My parents and I had a great night out at Buvette back in February 2023. It s definitely the trendy place to be in Burlington s cute Village. The cocktails were very tasty and refreshing. I definitely recommend the Korean fried cauliflower. The shrimp cocktail was a bit underwhelming though. Overall, great drinks, atmosphere, and service!

First time, recommended by a friend. Very accommodating in reserving a table short notice. When entering Buvette has a cool vibe, I liked it. Cocktails were very good. Appetizers, Buratta and Tuna sashimi were excellent, flavourful and a great portion to share. Mains, Lobster gnocchi, steak and fries, and Lamb shank. All three dishes were excellent and well done. Desert a heavenly combo of nuts, cheesecake and chocolate. just delicious. To us, we have been to several places around Burlington, and I have to say best food so far. Better than other places which are ranked higher and offer similar type of food. Only 4 star in service, as when I asked to try a wine (I ordered wine by the glass) I was told we dont do that which is normal for other places when you order by the glass to try a sip. But that was it. Great food, decent price and cool vibe make it to one of the best restaurants in Burlington and it certainly should be higher on the list of where to eat. great job, ill be back.

Showed up last minute for food and the Server Dan and the Kitchen Staff made it happen! Recommendations and service from Dan were amazing and the Food was Top Tier! Steak Bite were best ones I think I ve ever had! Dan come visit at the Bayside Lounge and or Chop while in Vancouver and we will return the Hospitality!

This is one of my new favorite restaurants. Hands down the best grilled octopus Ive ever had. Had the beef fillet and paid extra for the seafood tower on top, amazing. The waiter helps you with food and drink selections. Our original table reservation wasnt the greatest location but they moved us so not a big deal.

Just a quick drop in for a few cocktails and apps and we were not disappointed. Food was outstanding and the bartenders went out of their way to make me a cocktail I would enjoy.

Beautiful restaurant. Awesome food. Flavor is spot on. Ribeye medium rare cooked perfectly. Great chimichurri sauce! Brussel sprouts side is very tasty. Truffle mashed unfortunately had no truffle flavor at all. Grilled calamari was cooked well and good flavoring on the sauces. Music is abit too loud we could barely hear the waiter and the choice of music don t really suit the ambiance of the place (it went from dance to hip hop and then country music anything but dinner music) Service was great. Portion size was good.

I would not call this fine dining but they do offer great food, in a cool, casual downtown Burlington location close to all the action Burlington offers. We were greeted warmly and seated on the patio, nice atmosphere, especially on a summers evening, our server was friendly and checked in often. I didn t find them snobby and the timing was spot on, courses arrived right on time, contrary to some other reviews. Started with the KFC Korean fried cauliflower, it was an interesting take on this vegetable and it was delicious, portioned to share . If you like. Cocktails were interesting and tasty, try at least one Main course, had the lobster gnocchi and my guest, the salmon, both great portions, beautifully presented and very well cooked. The Lobster gnocchi had a wonderful cream sauce that I wish they served bread with to soak up every bit of its deliciousness .. really a shame . Italian food options and seafood with no bread?? My one disappointment . and recommendation! The Salmon was perfectly cooked, thick well seared, perfectly moist on the inside, and beautifully plated as well. Although stuffed, had to try the house made cheesecake, and it did not disappoint, if you like your cheesecake more on the lighter side, this is it! Big enough to share, light and airy, a nice finish to our dinner. Overall a great dinner, what I expected yes It s not inexpensive, but in todays world, good food costs! Definitely will go back again

Buvette is a really good restaurant that could be great. Ive been 3 times now, so I do like it a lot. The interior of the restaurant is extremely nice, and the patio is good as well. For me, the appetizers at Buvette are outstanding (love the steak BBs, Korean cauliflower, tuna tartare, beet salad), but the entrees are slightly underwhelming. Ive had the beef shortribs, veal parmesan, and salmon. All good - but nothing blew me away in terms of flavor. Room to improve there. Id love to see them incorporate more Asian flavors into their entrees.

I cant comment on the food as I went there many times for drinks and patio. One day Ill have dinner and let you all know

Went here for my boyfriends birthday tonight for the first time. Heard great things! And everything lived up to what I heard. Our server Danny was absolutely amazing! Food was incredible! Sure, pricey but the service and quality of food made sense for the price. The place is very modern and clean, and very busy considering it was a Sunday. Ordered the shareble T-bone steak and risotto. Steak was perfectly cook. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a higher end meal. And delicious cocktails. Thanks Danny for the great service. Will definitely be back.

I love love love this restaurant. It is very classy and chic. The restaurant owner is an absolute sweetheart. The managers are outstanding. The service is always top notch. The food is delicious and the cheesecake is to die for. All desserts are home made and sooooo delicious. I love this place and love the service this place has. 10/10

I tried to book a group of 18 women for my birthday. I was told they could seat 80 people in the restaurant at any given time. They would not allow me to rent the floor, pay a deposit on a Friday but said they would accommodate on a Wednesday Or Sunday. When paying customers are willing to rent a space, pay a deposit and you have the capacity, best business practice would be to to reserve those seats for a large party. Very disappointing business practice and staff on the phone were rude explaining it to me, both the manager and hostess.

This was my third time at Buvette, I will never return and will be sure to tell my friends and family the same. First time was fine. Bartender was so awesome and chatted with us all night. Second time was met at the door by the really rude owner who told us it was full and sarcastically asked if we made a reservation as if I was attempting to enter an elite nightclub in NYC. The patio was EMPTY. We were so turned off we vowed to never go back. We figured we would try again last night as we had a gift card to use. We sat on the patio with direct eyesight of the bar and I watched the owner berate the bartenders and server all night. I said something to an employee as I work in health and safety and his behaviour and treatment of his staff is NOT ACCEPTABLE. I wanted them to know they do not have to tolerate this harassment. Do not support a business who treats their employees like this.

Witness at least 3 waiters smoking in the alleyway within 30 mins and head back to the restaurant. Its gross and unsightly as well as non hygienic

I had a truly unfortunate experience at Buvette last night. After consuming oysters there, I suffered from severe food poisoning, which resulted in violent vomiting only one hour later. To make matters worse, when I called the restaurant to inform the owner about my ordeal, he was shockingly dismissive. Despite explaining how quickly oysters can cause such reactions and my distressing situation, he refused to acknowledge any responsibility or offer an apology telling me that it must have been something else. My partner and I were left in a terrible predicament, with me on my knees in the parking lot across the street, violently ill and unable to drive myself home. I had to rely on my partner to drive me back, and I spent the entire day bedridden as a result of this food poisoning incident. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth, not just due to the food poisoning but also because of the owners callous response. Its disheartening because I initially enjoyed my evening at Buvette, despite the excessively loud music. I would have gladly given the restaurant a positive review until this unfortunate interaction with the owner. In light of the owners dismissive attitude, I will be reporting this incident to public health on Tuesday. This entire ordeal has left me deeply disappointed in Buvettes handling of the situation.

The food was next level. Went to celebrate Dads birthday with my brother. We shared a main dish, mushroom risotto as a starter. And ee picked Lobster Gnocchi, Filet Mignon & Steak Frites main meals. I highly recommend the Lobster (which comes with the perfect slice of bread for the unreal creamy sauce) and cant say enough about the 8oz Filet Mignon sitting in a great gravy reduction sitting on a truffle mashed. (Failed to taste any truffle though?). Every bite was 10/10. Nutella cheesecake was an unreal to cap off the evening. Though perhaps we will split a single slice next time, vs ea getting our own! Service was wondeful too, attentive & great candor with the table. Only thing Id say was that the music was a bit loud for us to hear each other, but we all agreed will definitely be returning!

I arrived at the restaurant to celebrate my one-year anniversary with my wife, having made a reservation for 10 pm. Upon our arrival, we were met by a doorman named Mich, who informed us that the restaurant was fully booked and we couldn t be accommodated. I explained our reservation, to which he responded, That doesn t matter; we are fully booked. Would you like to speak to the owner? I agreed, and he claimed to be the owner. However, after contacting the establishment, we learned that he was just a doorman, not the owner. It would be beneficial to provide proper training to the security staff on how to interact with patrons. Frustrated, we decided to go to Harbour 60 for dinner instead. As an influencer from Toronto, we had driven 45 minutes to visit, recommended by our lawyer, but this experience has left a bitter taste in our mouths. We will now restrict our dining experiences to the downtown core of Toronto. We plan to share our entire interaction in a video using the hashtag #buvetterestaurant.

Sent my cousin his wife here for a 1 year anniversary, and let me tell you, I was extremely disheartened to hear what happened. I ve been here once and it was great, but yesterday due to Mr. Mitch at the door, they were denied entry to the restaurant even with valid reservations. Seems to me Mitch was having a bad day and decided to be racist. In todays world in the year 2023, Mitch should highly reconsider his decisions when speaking to valuable customers. Ps: he claimed he was the owner pretty sad look for an owner.

I would like to suggest that they instruct their doormen not to impersonate being owners of the restaurant. Additionally, its essential to ensure that the staff they hire is not racist, promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests. A reservation is used to guarantee a dining slot, and it was disappointing to hear that guests who were celebrating their 1 year Anniversary that travelled over 1 hour away, were denied entry due to restaurant over booking. Buvette was recommended to me by a friend for a date night, and it did not disappoint. The decor and atmosphere is lovely, very cozy and intimate. Great red wine selections from France and Italy. But most importantly, the food was divine the care that is put into the dishes is noticeable. Our server, Adele, was sweet and attentive, and made our evening into a five star experience. Grate service and good food!

Excellent food and vibe but the music was too loud to hear the waiter or the other people I was dining with. My only recommendation would be to turn it down a notch but otherwise this place is lovely.

This is the place if you want good food, good service plus lively loud music and atmosphere. Excellent menu beautifully prepared and presented. This is not for you if you re looking for a quiet evening. The staff are unwilling or perhaps unable to lower the music volume claiming the acoustics of the main room are not conducive to quiet atmosphere. Upstairs tables are a tad quieter. The staff are bright and pleasant as possible. Though unfortunately I wasn t greeted by either of the staff members at the front podium who were talking to each other when I entered. I ventured further in to the restaurant where I got a very friendly reception and was seated by a gentlemanly man. Our visit was to host business associates and I think they really enjoyed the food and drink, delicious!

Save your money and go elsewhere. This establishment apparently adds a gratuity if you have 5 or more people, but doesn t tell you and it is not noted on the bill.. we only happened to catch it because they gave us one bill and when we asked to have it split into 2 bills, the amount changed. They very sneakily added $60 to each bill. We unfortunately paid it and noticed the issue after we had paid. The server tried to tell us that it was for a second, $120, bottle of wine they forgot to add to the first bill this turned out to be a huge lie and they got caught. We only ordered one bottle of wine and a few overpriced cocktails and food. After the server admitted that they added the gratuity and it wasn t noted, they gave us some $ back. If we hadn t noticed it, the server would have made double the $$ in tips from us. We were asked to leave immediately after paying our $1100 bill (for 5 people). They said they were booked up and needed the table for their next set of guests.. at 10pm?! I guess they were mad that their overpriced drinks didn t impede our math skills. I tell everyone about this experience and advise not to waste their time, energy or money on this place. To no surprise at all, Alex did not respond to my email regarding the issue. This is not how you treat customers. Business owners these days think everyone wants something for free, and this was not the case. A simple acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way in this instance. Pride never wins. Good luck to you, though.

Went to this restaurant last night for the first time and was so happy with our service and food. Has a very romantic atmosphere and the food was amazing. Drinks are also beautifully presented and tasted even better. One of the best dinners out we have had in a while. Would definitely recommend and will be going back in the future.

I thought this place was a solid 4. We were celebrating a friends 50th birthday and they were gracious at the end of the night with a couple of surprises that helped make her night. The 4 of us all enjoyed our main meals and our appetizers! The dessert made by the owners dad is simply delicious. Nice atmosphere and in a vibrant little part of Burlington. Many free after 5pm free parking options too.

My husband and I went for dinner here recently for my birthday and it was incredible. The food, service and atmosphere were unmatched and it was one of my best birthday dinners yet! We will definitely be back soon, thank you for making our evening so special!

Drinks are delicious but on the pricey side. Truffle fries are great. I was looking forward to coming back to try more items off their menu but last night, the man working at the door was extremely rude to me and my party. I understand this is a busy time of year, but there is a way to communicate with your guests in a more respectful manner. Very disappointing service for an establishment that markets itself as fine dining. I won t be rushing back here any time soon.

The food was amazing. Worth every penny. Great quality and portions. The service was horrible. Worst Ive had. Unless your spending alot of money or look as though youre rich. Not a place for the middle class. Its caters to the rich. They wont lose customers, but they treat people based in their financial demographic Ill never go back again

First time here last night with my girlfriend. We share the beef carpaccio, it Was melt in your mouth amazing. The 3 female bartenders were super accommodating, friendly & quick with the drinks. Will be back to try more entrees. Made sure to tell my family & friends how amazing it is too.

The doorman Mitch at this establishment needs a reality check. Wanted to grab a drink at the bar because when I was at this restaurant last time, they had no problem letting us go to the bar (without a reservation) as all of their tables were full, which was completely okay. We didn t have a reservation this time around and after asking if there was any room at the bar, Mitch went ballistic and started swearing. I asked him to get the manager which he kept refusing to do, and physically threw out the person I was with outside against the wall, even though they did absolutely nothing to him. He lost his temper very very quickly and is obvious he is a hot headed person. Called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager, which was Alex, and after explaining the situation it seemed he didn t care about how his doorman treated us. Alex replied back with well he s our doorman so, I don t know what happened but I ll talk to him and wasn t too apologetic with his sorry. I don t think anything is going to be done about this situation, as upon reading other reviews it is clear that Mitch is a problematic person. Had Mitch spoken to us politely from the beginning this would not have happened. Strongly do not recommend this establishment unless you want to be screamed at for not having a reservation.

After how the doorman, Mitch, treated my sister and her boyfriend last night, I suggest everyone to avoid this place. Doorman seems to be very aggressive with guests who do not have a reservation, he yelled at them and he picked up my sister s boyfriend, dragged him out and pushed him up against the wall even when he didn t say anything. After reading some of the other reservations, seems like he s a problem.

Lots of sizzle in the atmosphere but, the food is below average in quality although priced like it has a Michelin Star. Ravioli was leathery and served in a pool of oil. Brussel sprouts were hard as rocks. Salmon was ok but lacking flavour and the Truffle Fries tasted like a frozen McCain product. Significant improvement is required!
