Although only clients in the restaurant, almost everything went wrong with our orders, but we were hungry and thirsty, and we choose to let it go. When checked in, I mentioned the surprises, but more like tongue in cheek. Although I politely declined, I didnt expect though to have my drink forcefully replaced with another one (ironically wrong again), followed by the obnoxious question Any more complains?. Certainly, these people are from a different planet, and need hundreds of years to understand the meaning of hospitality, proper server etiquette, etc.

Everything about this place is amazing! Cozy little place that makes you feel welcomed. The food was so good and well prepared, also large enough to share between 2-3 people.

I don t normally leave reviews, but the service we experienced at this restaurant was awful. We arrived around 7:45 pm on a Friday night. We didn t have reservations but were told no problem, they have open tables. We sat down and ordered cocktails followed by a bottle of wine and 5 different appetizers to share between three people. We then also ordered a bottle of wine and a beer. By 9pm the server started coming around every 5 minutes to try to clear food we were still eating. By 9:30 we were told it was last call, which is fine. We looked on google and saw that the restaurant closes at 10. Early for a Friday, but again, no problem. We didn t order more drinks because we still had half a bottle of wine to finish. The waitress then came back again like 5 minutes later and said, the staff and I was to close up and handed us our bills. We paid and tipped well but still had almost a full glass of wine to finish. At 9:45 the sever turned on the full bright lighting in the restaurant and literally walked up to our table and said I m locking the door so . After spending $100/person for food and drinks, I m shocked to have literally been kicked out before your closing time. The waitress was so unprofessional. And now after reading the owner s responses to other people s reviews, I m even less impressed. As a Burlington resident, there are a dozen other restaurants downtown that I would rather take friends and family. I will not go here again.

I knew it was a 5 star before I even got my food. Service was nice and overwhelmingly accommodating. I could go with my family on a nice afternoon or even crunch in a nice meal on a 45 minute lunch break. Servers were very kind and food was fantastic, and its a nice little restaurant to pass by especially in warm weather. Parking: Street parking free after 5 and free weekends

Enjoyed a delightful lunch with former colleagues in the most warm and welcoming environment. The bruschetta was fresh and flavourful and the salmon crepe with dill sauce was superb with perfect portion size. Our server was friendly and attentive while allowing us time to visit and reconnect. Last night, my date and I had the pleasure of revisiting Downtown Bistro in Burlington, and it was nothing short of fantastic! This gem has been one of my favorite dining spots for the past six years, and it never fails to exceed my expectations. One of the things my date and I love about this place is the option to order multiple dishes and share the culinary experience. We kicked off our delightful meal with the Bruschetta, followed by the divine Beetroot & Goat Cheese Stack. For our main course, we indulged in the Salmon special of the day. From start to finish, the experience was impeccable. The service was not only friendly but also timely, allowing us to savor each moment without any rush. And lets talk about the dishes oh, they were nothing short of mouthwatering! As someone who has explored numerous exceptional restaurants, I must say, Downtown Bistro truly outdid itself last night. I celebrated my Birthday there last night with friends and we re already trying to figure out when we can return. I haven t had a dining experience this amazing in a while. The cozy atmosphere and the incredible server made it a wonderful experience, but we spent the car ride home arguing over who had the best meal because every dish was perfection. It seemed like most people in there are regulars and I can totally see why- thank you for a fabulous evening!

This is our favourite place to eat in Buffalo. Love the food. The steak is the best and the homemade bread is awesome. The food in general is very filling. Will go back forever..highly recommended.

For my birthday, we decided to try a new restaurant. We were incredibly happy with the Downtown Bistro. It s a small restaurant oozing with warmth and ambience. Service is perfect. The food was fantastic. My husband s short ribs were OMG, so fantastic! . He didn t even need a knife melt in your mouth. I had the pork tenderloin schnitzel with mushroom gravy. Perfectly cooked and not dry. Our veggies were perfect too. I m not typically a dessert person, but they gifted me with a chocolate torte that was to die for . We left that beautiful little restaurant looking forward to our booking. Thank you for a great night. You deserve all the 5-star ratings. Parking: Located a large parking lot, offering free parking after 6pm and on weekends.

I went to Downtown Bistro for the first time a few weeks ago on a first date that went VERY wrong. The female server/bartender there was absolutely incredible. Not only did she make me feel at ease in a very strange situation, but she went out of her way to ensure that I was safe. I wish there was a way that I could truly express my gratitude for her friendliness, but also, she really was a great server/bartender. Thank YOU!

The staff are amazing, the food was fantastic. I only found this gem of a restaurant earlier in this past week, when I took my sister out to lunch. Decided this was the restaurant for my wife and I to celebrate her birthday at and happy we did, atmosphere was calming as I said above everything was amazing and fantastic- cannot wait to go back and try the different items in this menu.

Just got home from this place and it was absolutely amazing. Its been a long time since I dined out and have left so satisfied and happy to have spent my money on dinner. Had the Pecan Crusted Chicken and everything was cooked perfectly and steaming hot. The jalapeno sauce was delicious , beet salad superb! Jessica was our server and I did not wait on anything. As soon as I put my silverware down on a plate it was removed, water empty and refilled immediately, alcoholic beverage replenished right away. I will be back again and again and have found my new favorite place. Thanks for an excellent experience!

Every other time I have been there before this restaurant , the food and service were great . This time however, the seafood crepe was burnt and so were the mushrooms inside . It was so bad I tasted it all day . Yes I did eat some of it because reordering would have meant waiting another 25 min . In between every course , the wait time was app 20-25 min. and I had places to be . Worst of all I finally mentioned it to the server , and nothing was done . No acknowledgement . Nothing . So disappointing because I really liked this place .

This is a favorite spot! Always delicious fresh food and wonderful service. First time back since the pandemic, and it didnt disappoint.

First time at Downtown Bistro and Grill in Burlington and gotta say this is the best restaurant Ive gone to in the Hamilton/Burlington area since moving out here in 2013. Service was perfect, food was insanely delicious. Crab cakes and Calamari for appetizers and the Pecan Chicken Seafood Linguine for Entrée. Didnt have desert unfortunately we couldnt stay too long with kids at home. I read another review where someone was complaining that he had two or three closed clams, but after seeing how many mussels, shrimp, scallops and clams you get in the Linguine I dont see how a a couple closed clams are really a big deal. I had one closed clam out of maybe 10. Big Deal... If I had to think of anything negative perhaps I would say the table was a little big small but hey Im a 250 pound man maybe I should just lose some weight. Lol. Great Restaurant definitely going there again.

First time here and I havent been this impressed by a restaurant in a long time. Fine dining without being snobby or uptight. Music and lighting were perfect, atmosphere is cozy and warm. Our server Jessica was incredibly attentive and the chef came and quality checked each course. The food is absolutely to die for. Best crab cakes Ive ever had and the ravioli sauce was amazing. 10/10 would recommend for any occasion!

Beautiful interior, tables and the staff are so friendly, attentive and professional. My husband had the braised beef rib and it was the most tender cut of meat. Delicious. The French onion soup, was rich and full of glorious properly caramelized onion. Soup of the day was mushroom, and there was levels of different mushroom flavours. The 3 cheese ravioli ..to die for. The pasta was thin and delicate .. it tastes handmade. This is truly a GEM in downtown Burlington. You have to check it out. The menu has something for everyone

Discovered this fabulous restaurant by walking around Burlington downtown, observing ambience, seating and menus at various restaurants. Received glowing review by patrons who had just dined. The culinary experience exceeded all expectations. Diverse well-thought out wine offerings that complimented the menu. Welcoming, experienced host and wait staff. The lightly bread calamari were perfect; tender and paired with red pepper alioli. Chose the Louisiana Cajun Blackened chicken with shrimp linguini, seasoned with a fragrant palate-pleasing herded sauce. It came steamy hot, and graciously the chef subbed mushrooms for the red bell peppers as my friend had a night shade sensitivity. The flourless chocolate torte was light, creamy and presented like a work of art. Generous portions. Environmentally friendly take home cartons for leftovers. No deliveries. Takeout is an option. Recommend reservations for special occasions as the popularity of the restaurant will continue to climb! The chef uses many locally sourced ingredients, another bonus for eating there.

I have heard about this place and finally got a chance to go there for lunch. Their service was excellent, paid perfect t attention to us. The food was excellent, I ordered their lunch crepe fantastic.

We had a really good meal tonight. My husband had the Arctic Char special and I had the Pecan-Crusted Chicken. We shared the Lemon-Lime Beach Pie for dessert. With drinks before and coffee after, we enjoyed every bite! Great to sit out on the patio, and our server Kim was attentive, friendly and made great recommendations.

I was expecting the kinda typical pub-grub food but was pleasantly surprised and the taste and quality of our meal. Prices were reasonable and portions were decent. Staff was great and did not rush us at all. We were lucky to get one of the few seats on the patio and the restaurant is on a quiet-ish street, so it was really enjoyable. Highly recommend.

Excellent experience as per usual. Had the seafood linguine and the paella. Was so good and overflowing with seafood. Have been back 3 times in last 2 months and it only better each time. Patio is quiet and great for date night.

Greens and berries salad was a hit disappointing. Had to ask for pecans as none in my salad, not roasted as described. Berries were somewhat scarce as was the dressing, prefer on the side. All in all would not order again. Service was good, waitress friendly and accommodating.

Had an excellent meal here with appetizers. We shared the charcuterie board and grilled calamari. Both were excellent, squid not chewy and cooked to perfection. I had the braised beef short rib dinner, also excellent. Service staff was on point and friendly. Cost was very fair Id say. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for a nice dinner in a cozy atmosphere.

My wife and I have enjoyed the service and food three times. Each time we have tried a different dish and loved them. The carrot cake is awesome!

We chose Downtown Bistro for lunch, because the variety on the menu would suit everyone in our group. The food was delicious. We had a fantastic server, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. We will definitely go back.

First time there in 2016 was the night I asked my wife to marry me. Was an amazing experience food was great drinks were good. Fast forward 6 years. Went to dinner with my wife for our anniversary. Made reservations mentioned it was our anniversary. 1st off ordered martinis never had one before my wife said it s all about the presentation and they are delicious. We ordered 2. 1 came half full with a messy done half rim.2nd came with a piece of frozen pineapple in it then started to have pieces of the pineapple floating around the top. They didn t taste bad but not what me or my wife were expecting. Complained to waitress said that s how they come. I said you should put some more care into there product. We ordered a Caesar salad to start with pecan crusted chicken for my wife and seafood linguine for myself.as we were eating the salad she asked twice if we were done. As soon as my wife was done they brought out the food as I was still eating my salad. Felt very rushed. My wife ordered the same thing before as did I thinking they were great before why wouldn t they be now. Came with pickled sliced beets no where on the menu did it say that and my wife s allergic to beets.told the waitress again she said it was cabbage it was not. My pasta came with good mussels and 5 clams and a bunch of scallops. 3 of the 5 clams did not open therefore they are bad should not have been sent out. I told waitress once again nothing was done. Pasta tasted like great value brand and served on a cold plate. Was an absolutely horrible dinner and not a pleasant way to start the night off, will never go back again.

Went for my wifes birthday this evening. Dinner was the best I have had in Burlington delicious, the atmosphere was just right and our waitress was very attentive. This is one restaurant you should go to.

Just had take out from here last evening and it was all simply delicious. Highly recommend the jumbo shrimp linguine and grilled vegetable salad. My hubby enjoyed his breaded schnitzel and Caesar salad too. Owner even brought it out to us curbside. Was still piping hot by the time we got it home. So nice to be able to still take out high quality food to eat at home during the pandemic. Highly recommend!

My husband and I visited this place for the first time the other week and we werent disappointed. The food was phenomenal Definitely a must try.

When we moved to Burlington recently I was surprised by the number of fine dining choices in the downtown area. Im glad we tried the Downtown Bistro because it certainly exceeded my expectations. The server suggested the daily special which was beef tacos. Nice beef tenderloin with salad or fries. We chose the salads and both the tacos and salad were excellent. Excellent presentation and a great server who made us feel very welcome. The rear patio is a great addition. Very relaxing. Well certainly be back soon .

Quaint place but my dish, though not bad, was nothing special. Ordered the Seafood Linguine that had lots of average marinara type sauce. My partner had the Louisiana Linguine that was supposed to have blackened chicken...which was everyday chicken cubes. Weve had blackened chicken before and this was not blackened chicken.

We were in burlington and decided to try this place. Food was great. The weather was perfect. Tried crab cake , creamy chicken pasta and parmesan fries. Everything was delicious. Will definitely go back to have that crab cake again

Long story short, horrible service. I dont care to watch my friend get accused and screamed at for no reason. Had a reservation made for lunch. The couple we were meeting had a dog, so we asked if the dog could come on the patio. We were told no, which wasnt an issue. The couple said they would return the dog back to the vehicle and leave it running, therefore, the AC being on. Three of us sat down and the waitress comes rushing back to our table. She starts yelling how she isnt comfortable with us putting a dog in a vehicle we couldnt see. And tells us we HAVE to move the vehicle to the back parking and sit back there as well, so we can see the vehicle. We corrected her to let her know we could indeed see the vehicle, so it wouldnt be a problem. She continued to berate us how it was wrong to leave a dog in a vehicle on a warm day. We again said that the vehicle was running, so the AC was on. She said oh, ok and walked back into the restaurant. Another server brought us our menus and left. We did the same shortly after. Left. I understand being worried about animals, but there is a way to go about it. Yelling at people, especially your customers, is the wrong way. The waitress could have come over and talked out her concerns instead. If she would have, we would have probably never left. We ended up going to the place right down the road called The Dickens which had phenomenal service and food. On a plus we were also able to bring the dog on the patio. He was given his own water bowl, snacks and love.

Awful experience here. Didnt even have a chance to try the food, the staff member that seated us was incredibly rude and berated us over a simple misunderstanding. Recommend avoiding, there are much better places just around the corner. Love the response from the owner because your staff was more than a little concerned considering she continued to yell at us over leaving a dog in an air conditioned vehicle. There are ways to talk to people and I suppose we just expected more than basic human decency

First time here.. awesome meal. I had the orgnanic blackened salmon. Kate was wonderful. Everyone had something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. Cosy back patio. Wine prices bit high comparibly, but staff, patio and food was all excellent!!

First, for those people that had an issue with the dog. KEEP THE DOG AT HOME. Not fair to other customers or to your dog. And good to the waitress for checking on your pet being left in a car. Second: Hadnt been to this restaurant for a while. Food wasnt great and service was so so. Yesterday we thought we would give it another try. Kim, our server, is irreplaceable. Her personality and genuine caring makes her a star in our books. Mike, dont ever let her go. We enjoyed and shared the baked brie and the carrot cake. And a drink of course! WONDERFUL. We will return, but only if Kim is there. Keep up the good work and you wont have much competition.

I took one of my best friends here for dinner to celebrate his recent wedding. The food, drinks, and service were superb. Everyone in our party seemed pleased. I enjoyed the crab cakes, which, while seemingly small, proved to be quite filling. The staff are lovely. Predictions are risky business, but I foresee a bright future for this charming restaurant.

Initial greeting by the host was rude. I had walked into the restaurant and explained I was meeting my parents. Was told Not in here. No one is seated inside. Which is fine, but then where are they? Our server was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the Penne Alla Vodka. Chicken was totally dry and the pasta bland. However, the rest of our party enjoyed their meals. My drink was heavily watered down. Dessert was good. Overall, not a terrible experience but definitely started on the wrong foot.

Food was flavorful, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly and I would highly recommend it.

Delicious lunch

Great dinner Wednesday night. Had bruschetta, baked Brie and truffle fries for appetizers. Beef short ribs, salmon and French onion soup for mains. All were delicious, good sized portions and excellent service. We really enjoyed our evening.

How have we not been here before? Wife and I went last week for our first time and were really pleased. Great location with tons of parking in the municipal lot right across the street. Service was friendly and our server {Im sorry I have forgotten your name) was very pleasant even though we almost immediately spilled a drink! She was very sweet happens all the time. Short rib was amazing, great bottle of wine and a great evening. In fact we are taking friends for dinner again tonight!

Went here for the first time last night to celebrate our anniversary. Quaint little place, with nice ambience on a miserable rainy night. Our meals were amazing (penne a la vodka, charred calamari, truffle fries, schnitzel with mushroom sauce, dessert) and drinks plentiful. Our server Andrea was also a complete joy, sweet, bubbly and funny. Our food, and drinks all arrived perfectly timed with no wait, hot and fresh. I cant wait to go back and enjoy all over again. Thank you Andrea and Downtown Bistro for making our night even more special!

Lovely lunch with my mother and a first visit for both of us. The restaurant was not busy on a Thursday at 1pm. The waitress was lovely and the food was wonderful. I had the smoked salmon crepe and my mother had the shrimp linguine. The flavor and portion size was perfect. Will definitely return.

Absolutely mediocre place: inattentive, rushed service (if you didn t fit into the 2 hour window, too bad - you ll be simply pushed out! The food was as mediocre as the rest - at best, level of a highway cafe. Very disappointed.

First time visiting this restaurant, as I was in town for business. Great little place, with excellent food. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is a very quaint dining room, so I highly recommend making reservations. The holiday lights along the lakeshore was also a nice plus!

Please change your working hours if your kitchen closes 90 minutes before your restaurant does, this way you will waste less peoples time when they are looking for later night dining.

Good atmosphere, good food, reasonable prices.

Went to the downtown bistro in Burlington for a New Year s Eve dinner (2019) and it did not disappoint! Most places for New Years dinner rush you in and out and serve you some over priced slop.....not this place, we had amazing scallops topped with a bacon jam appetizer followed by a rare treat, a perfectly cooked beef Wellington on mashed potatoes with some carrots and turnips, the server poured the piping hot gravy at the table and it was all delicious! For desert we had the the house made cheesecake, maybe not the best, but certainly very good, it was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Service was well paced, leaving just the right amount of time between courses, my water was always topped up and she made sure we were enjoying our meal. The restaurant is small and intimate, great for a date night out, not really for kids or families. Parking is located behind the house or across the street at the municipal lot. It s also within walking distance of lakeshore, the park and walkways for a stroll after or before your meal! Will definitely come back, the location is great, the atmosphere cozy and the food top notch!

We went here to celebrate a birthday . It was our first time at this establishment and certainly won t be our last . It is the cutest restaurant in a lovely area of Burlington . We were there early so it was really quiet. The server was so friendly and efficient . The menu had a nice variety of food . We particularly loved the warm Brie as an appetizer . This is now one of my favorite restaurants. I highly recommend it!

Cost atmosphere, wonderful staff. Mussels were divine, arctic char to die for. My wife had three cheese ravioli, also amazing. Creme brulee, the perfect finish.

Loved the smoked salmon rosti, although the rosti is missing something, lemon perhaps? The lamb ragout was just ok but would be fabulous if it was New Zealand lamb, unfortunately Ontario lamb is void of any lamb flavour. The pear sticky toffee cake is good... the custard is so sweet it I took the cake out of the bowl - adding sweet really does not enhance any flavour it just makes things sweet!

Lovely little restaurant, great decor and ambience. Food was delicious and portions good size. Staff were very pleasant and service very good other than we felt we were being rushed. We asked to slow it down a little which they did. Also dishes were removed before everyone at the table had finished. Much better to wait til everyone had finished eating. Would recommend it though!

This was my first time, and will not be my last! Great food, decent wine list that covered the grounds. Amazing prices 50% off wine on Mondays... Can you go wrong? No you can t! Taste of Burlington menu $40.00 plus a few bottles of vino less then $200 how can you do better? Not fine dinning but who needed that? Bistro right? Well it was all done RIGHT upscale, clean, tasty, well presented, amazing service. Thank you Courtney amazing server, great product knowledge, made us feel welcome from the get go. Super chill crowd, the dinning room brought me to a place of happiness! What an experience keep doing your thing. Bravo to the Bistro

I enjoy downtown bistro because of its amazing homemade taste and feel. Every time I dine in, I feel comfortable and relaxed. The staff is amazing and I highly recommend the grilled calamari and the mussels are exquisite.

Got takeout tonight. Contactless they just place it in the trunk. Food was fantastic. Deal on the wine was amazing. Would highly recommend!

Excellent service, and deliciously prepared food, made for an exquisite dining experience. Weve been a few times and have never been disappointed.

Top-notch in every respect: menu, design and preparation of every dish, wine list, service, service, service and overall vibe. Their street-side porch is perfectly set up for social-distancing and every staffer was not only unfailingly helpful and polite but was wearing a mask at all times (unlike the mostly mask-free staff witnessed outside at their neighbour restaurant!). A first visit to their porch/patio but it wont be our last!

Was walking downtown looking for somewhere to eat and saw downtown bistro patio pretty much empty so went in and sat down for a few minutes before a server came out and said they are fully booked and no space at all tonight.

Excellent experience all round. Service was above and beyond especially considering the times we are in. Lovely patio out back with servers who were on both technically and personally. The meal was terrific with generous portions and beautifully presented. A full house so reso is a must but well worth planning ahead! I believe this owner and/or chef have got it right.

First visit but it wont be the last. The restaurant had all necessary Covid protections in place and we barely noticed. We were there for lunch. The lunch menu is expansive and affordable with entrees under $20. I had Shrimp Linguine and my two friends both opted for the Salmon Crepe. Excellent presentation, very flavorful, and suitable portion size. Great dessert selections too. All made in-house. Speaking of house, the restaurant is located in an old downtown house which certainly adds to the interest and ambience. Covered patio on the porch.

Downtown Bistro & Grill has a great patio and fantastic food. The sangria is . Salads, French onion soup, and burger are delicious as well. Highly recommend.

I really wish I could remember my servers name from last night.... For that I am sorry. This was my second time dinning with the Downtown Bistro, and once again I was not let down. The service was on point, the food came out perfectly timed for the pace we choose to dine at. I find the menu to be well laid out. The ingredients, plating, and taste all have a touch of flare. I really like this Bistro and I am happy to have a place like this in our downtown core. The prices are more then fair. I would highly recommend the Bistro as a great choice for an upscale dinning experience. Once again amazing service, great taste, nice presentation on the plates. I have to mention it was very noticeable that the establishment has gone to great lengths and measures to keep the guest as safe as possible with the updates for COVID. I also just wanted to add to anyone who sees this review..... If you do have an issue with a restaurant call them directly rather then write a negative review. Lets do our part to keep home grown well established business safe and thriving in these hard times. Cheers to the Bistro we will see you again!

October 15th 2020 update. Another fantastic meal last night! All in the heated comfort of the tented front patio. Candles, string lights, ambiance..........The Taste of Burlington Menu is new, original, unique and delicious. It was difficult to narrow down our choices. Thank you Mike and Andrea and team for making our first dinner out in almost 8 months so memorable.

We had a wonderful time there sitting outside in their heated COVID tent. It was very quiet, but it was a Wednesday evening. The food was excellent as was the service. A very small and quaint place. Will gladly return.

its a charming restaurant near the lake in burlington - more like a bistro than a grill... the food was superb and the service excellent... we lingered after lunch and never felt rushed... it was a great afternoon and I would definitely go back...

Great food and lovely atmosphere. Servers were friendly, knowledgeable and super accommodating. My gf ordered a Penne without chicken and got mushrooms instead. Food was fresh and delicious. Cocktails were very well done as well. A hidden Burlington gem for sure. Highly recommend.
