Modern Casual Fine Dining, serving creative Canadian cuisine with Italian and French influence.
Loondocks hosted our corporate holiday party for a group of ~65. Owner was very accommodating during the planning process, and ensured no detail was missed on the night of our event (such as printing corporate-branded cocktail menus, and welcome sign for our colleagues). Restaurant was beautifully decorated inside, food was top notch, and staff were friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience!
Wow! Wasn't expecting this experience at all. It was so yummy! 😍 Partner had the Arctic Char and I had the Wild Boar. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. Coat check was brought around and helped put on is just the luxury touch. The atmosphere was charming and quaint. Easily hold a conversation between the table. The price is high but for the quality of food that was presented I was okay with it. Definitely somewhere you take a loved one for an anniversary treat
Absolutely a must visit restaurant!! I wish I could give more stars. We came here to celebrate my engagement with my family and my partners family, and so we were a decent sized group. They made what was already a memorable day, even better. We were served by Brittany and another waitress (I don't recall her name - sorry!!) and their service was phenomenal! We were never rushed to order or to leave (we left approximately 15 minutes after closing), which meant we were able to really soak in this great occasion. Brittany explained the menu, answered all our questions, and was just a general delight the entire night. She offered to take our family's photo as she knew we were celebrating- I would go back for her service alone. On top of that, the food was AMAZING, and the entire family were still talking about the restaurant days later. I cannot say how much it meant to me that we got to have such an amazing celebration, and that I can always look back on the day with so many happy memories. Safe to say, we will be returning, and have told friends and family that this is a must visit if they're in the area.
We had a lovely vegan meal here for my birthday. The food was delicious and so beautifully presented.
A perfect evening at Loondocks! The food is beyond incredible, the chef has created such a unique menu with amazing flavours. We had the red pepper and goat cheese arancini, bison carpaccio, lobster risotto, and wild boar tenderloin, all delicious! The atmosphere is warm and homey while classy; perfect for a date night or family gathering. The servers took great care of us too. This place is a gem, I highly recommend!
Delightful fine dining! The perfect trifecta experience. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The waitstaff are friendly and professional. The food is absolutely divine!! (Luckily, our group has no qualms about sharing). Generous portions and lovely presentations. Definitely worth a visit....or two....or three.....or four.......etc!
An absolute Gem of a restaurant! If I could give more stars I would! The food is fresh, creative, and beautifully presented. It’s like when each dish is brought to the table you say “wow”! You can tell everything is prepared from scratch and it’s obvious a lot of “love” goes into each dish. The atmosphere is classy and cozy. Casual fine dining at it’s best. Exceptional service, friendly, attentive without being intrusive. You truly feel like a valued guest…. for real! We had the Lamb Wellington – mouthwatering , melt in your mouth! The Gnocchi – apparently a signature dish they’ve had on the menu from the beginning - is superb! We added beef tips …yum! Our other guest added shrimp...equally delicious! I had the Arctic Char….light, moist and flaky, perfectly cooked with wonderful complimentary sides. Good variety of salads and interesting starters. Cocktail menu is unique and creative ….. try their Salted Caramel Espresso martini! Great selection of wines and specialty coffees. A thoroughly delightful dining experience on all fronts. We will be back! Special thanks to Brittany and Heather for making our evening so wonderful!
Fantastic service and food, best crab cakes I have ever had. We have been back many times. Nice atmosphere and creative menu, both food and cocktails are unique and delicious. Wine list is really great too. It’s really nice to have such a good restaurant in this area, otherwise you need to travel to Toronto for this kind of experience. Highly recommended!
9 of us ladies ( The MMs) Enjoyed our evening at Loondocks. I was pleasantly surprised by this fine dining establishment in a mall at New and Appleby. Food was great as it wasnt the usual heat and serve fare served in most places today. The chef had inspired dishes, reflecting our Canadiana cuisine. The staff were outstanding and knowledgeable about the menu and the wine choices, Everyone enjoyed the crab cakes, innovated salads, yummy soup. Mains enjoyed were the Angus Burger with Wild boar bacon, Artic Char, Atlantic Halibut in a lovely creme sauce and the Chorizo Gnocchi. The desserts were delish and specialty coffee perfect, especially the Loondocks Affogato. Loondocks is a great choice in Burlington and it is not overpriced and has loads of parking.
We chose Loondocks for our son and daughter-in-laws wedding rehearsal dinner. From the initial contact with Kevin right through to the evening of the dinner, everything was top notch. The staff were extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. The food was terrific, and our vegan guests were well looked after. I highly recommend Loondocks and we will be going back. Vegetarian options: Terrific vegetarian and vegan options
Food was great! Well presented and the staff were friendly as well. Will definitely go back.
Delicious food, excellent staff - wine is pricey - sorry, tapped wrong star
Lovely, lovely food, service and place! Dietary restrictions: EXCELLENT reassuring care for Nut Allergy whcih is why we chose them the first time! Food : 5/5 |
We had an exceptional meal at Loondocks. Unique offerings we partook in included: the delicious Bison Carpaccio, the Wild Boar, the Nova Scotia Crab Cakes and the Chorizo Gnocchi. Food was beautifully presented, as well as delectable. The ambiance and service were top notch, as well! A great find!!! We have been recommending to all of our friends!!!
Eaten here many times! Fab food! Parking: good Kid-friendliness: Not really keto friendly. A couple of things maybe.
My go to place for lunch! Food is outstanding, as is the service and ambiance. I don t often eat dessert but their Crème Brûlée is hard to resist!
Great food and service staff were a very accommodating.
It rocked our faces off!
A wonderful evening was had by me and my wife. It was her birthday and the restaurant and the servers made sure we were welcome, comfortable, and satisfied. Our meals were excellent and the ambience on the rooftop was delight. We cannot recommend Boondocks highly enough.
Great staff. Friendly. Nice selection of wines. Quiet atmosphere. Parking: Mall parking Food : 5/5 |
My wife and I had our first dinner at Loondocks recently and enjoyed the quiet ambiance. Our appetizer and entrees were well spaced. Overall, enjoyable experience will likely return.
We stopped in here for lunch when wowed by the menu via google search of local restaurants. The decor is deep colours Muskoka cottage but the food is world class modern cuisine while drawing heavily on Canadian ingredients lobster, angus beef, bison, boar, berries, seasonal vegetables. They are great with allergies and celiac so no worry. I will be back and definitely feel good about booking a group.
I have been to Loondocks on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. The food is always outstanding, and the service is great!
We dine at Loondocks frequently and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent as is the service. We like to reserve a table for two by the fireplace for a romantic dinner.
Recently held an important family event at Loondocks Restaurant--as usual the service and food were first class--and interaction with all the staff was super. Cant go wrong-totally reliable and consistent, Parking: parking is very close
Theres a good reason why Lookdocks was selected as Canadas best gourmet restaurant! We came here for our 25th anniversary. Everyone was very pleasant and the food was spectacular! I had the angus filet, my wife had the chicken. Both were simply amazing, and obviously well presented. Well worth the price. Ive had more expensive meals at places in downtown Toronto and this topped them all. Well definitely be back.
Great 1st time experience. Warm personal staff. Food was very flavorful most notably the in house made citrus chocolate cheesecake. Ill definitely be coming back!
Excellent food and service!
We celebrated our anniversary at Loondocks. The meal was outstanding . My husband had Chorizo Gnocchi and I had the Lobster Risotto. I highly recommend this restaurant for its warm atmosphere and excellent service.
Delicious creative menu. Really enjoyed the Arancini. Lovely, friendly staff.
amazing, well rounded dishes. the peach sour was a great drink and paired well with the delicious bison carpaccio. the crème brûlée for desert was the best i ve ever had. our server was very prompt and kind! highly recommend for a night out.
My husband and I came to Loondocks on Jul 20 for dinner. First time there. I ordered the warm goat cheese beet salad and the shredded duck appetizer. My husband had the Angus burger. I also had the blood orange Margherita and hubby a IPA beer and a bottle of san pelligrino mineral water. I wish I took pictures because the presentation of the food was great. The flavors for everything we ate was fantastic. My Margherita was really well done. The service was excellent. The only thing I didnt like was where we sat. A 2 person table somewhat crammed into a corner and having to listen to loud conversations by the folks next to us. We should have spoken up but I certainly will when we return to try other items on this menu.
Was there for my Mothers 92nd birthday and she was treated like the queen she is. Food was great and our server was even better.
We went in for a celebration meal. The service was fantastic ! Food was a bit under whelming despite having a vegan menu the dishes were not packing the much expected punch. drinks were average. Overall an ok experience.
Loved it. The food was amazing and the staff were very kind. I will definitely be returning to try more dishes.
From the minute we were seated on the rooftop patio we knew we made the right choice. Everything was delicious, our server Olivia was great.
The food and service here are top notch. You can t go wrong.
We shared a wonderful anniversary dinner at Loondocks. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food is delicious. Our server was accommodating and hospitable. Thank you for a memorable experience Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access into the building with plenty of room to manoeuvre.
Found my new favourite restaurant. While the food was amazing, and well deserving of the 2024 Canadian Gourmet Restaurant of the Year title by Travel & Hospitality, it was only out done by the outstanding service provided by Mandy. Mandy was professional, attentive and extremely friendly bring together the perfect evening. To the chef/owner and his staff, thank you for a wonderful experience on behalf of my wife, friends and me.
My wife and I visited recently to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary together. We had never been to Loondocks in the past, but always heard fantastic things. Very pleased to see the reputation is very much earned! They knew it was a special occasion for us and they seemed super motivated to make sure everything was exceptional. Phenomenal food and a special shoutout to Heather our waitress, she was lovely. See yall soon, thanks again!
Great restaurant, but I can t give it 5 star review because of the super high cost of the food compared to the proportionality. It was $11 for a tiny piece of chicken on the salad, and $14 for two pieces of shrimp. The salads themselves were not even that big. I get that we re all dealing with increased costs, but this was just excessive for the tiny proportions. Great service and atmosphere otherwise, but I cannot recommend.
A need to head to Home Hardware on a Sunday afternoon, and then an empty tummy, lead us to Loondocks for a bite to eat.....AND IT WAS BRILLIANT! My wife is Vegan for medical reasons, and this GEM of a place had many many options. Our Server Heather was delightful, caring, and just exceptional. The Food was some of the best I have had this year! I am looking forward to making this my goto for occasions big & small.....well done!
Had dinner there a week ago. All 3 of us enjoyed our meals, they were very tasty and cooked perfectly.
Wonderful experience at Loondocks on the rooftop patio. Worth paying a bit more for high quality ingredients and artistically hand crafted dishes made from scratch. Our server Mandy was knowledgeable and lovely, and told us what a fantastic employer the restaurant was. Birthday dessert was on the house! Would definitely return to support this independently owned gem!
Went yesterday with my wife for the first time as we walked in it felt like walking into a wake just no atmosphere. Ask to sit up on the roof top because it s been hot for the last 5 days just to be told it s closed until June how sad I guess you don t like money. I will never go back SMH.
Definitely recommend and will definitely be back. Cant wait to try other food and drink options.
Loondocks is my go to place. I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. The quality of the food and service has always remained at a very high level. I love how they are committed to sourcing out local ingredients. The food is beyond delicious. Everything from the presentation to the service is top notch. The servers are friendly, helpful and add to the welcoming atmosphere of the venue. If you haven t been to Loondocks, don t wait. You will love the total experience. Also I loved their homemade caesar drinks. Dietary restrictions: Very responsive to my friends glutin free restrictions.
We celebrated a friends very special birthday over lunch today and had a very good experience at Loondocks. I would especially point out that the service was excellent - they could not have been more helpful. Everyone really enjoyed their meals as well. Thanks for a great experience for a very important lunch!
Fabulous Dining Experience! I dine at Loondocks frequently and have continued to love the quality of the food, the attentive service and the pleasing décor. Of particular note on the menu is the Beet & Warm Goat Cheese Salad, the Daily Soups, Chorizo Gnocchi, the Duck Wellington, and Grilled Angus Filet Mignon. I know they change their menu seasonally so I am anxious to return and try out some of the new items. Thanks Kevin & Brittany for creating a great dining experience. EJD Mississauga
Service and food was excellent! Highly recommend Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor Food : 5/5 |
Most lovely setting with awesome menu, service and ownership dedication.
Great fine dining option. Service is exceptional and the menu is full of good options.
Our kids took us to Loondocks last night to celebrate our anniversary. It is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service and excellent food. Thankyou so much for making our anniversary special and a day to remember. We will be back.
We had an incredible anniversary dinner at Loondocks last night. We were lead to this restaurant through a gift card from a family member, and we would definitely come back. Our server Britt was excellent, kind and attentive. She offered us a compensated glass of prosecco to celebrate our anniversary and offered us expert descriptions of all items on the menu. My husband had the lobster rissotto and he greatly enjoyed it. Said the lobster was cooked to perfect. I had the mushroom Wellington and it was so mouthwatering. The seasonal and local menu cannot be beat! Make sure you enjoy a dessert as well!
Hi, Im vising from Toronto and was looking for a great place for dinner with me and my girlfriends. We shopped around looking for decent price venues. We came across Loondocks and to be honest it was not what we expected. We arrived around 730 and the restaurant was not busy which was great we were seated right away. As we revived the menu and put our order in. As always you start with Drinks, we had ordered a bottle of wine which was not available. Which we were not given any other option within that price range. When our main courses arrived at the table we were given the chorozi gnocchi which we never ordered and the presentation of that dish was leaking out of the dish. This was disappointing as friends we dont eat any dishes that provide pork. As the evening continued we were given a complimentary dessert for the trouble of the wine and dish that we didnt order. As the waitress handed us 4 menus we didnt know if we were picking one dessert or 4 as nothing was mentioned what exactly is going on here??? Alot of confusion for not a busy location and no clear communication.
Excellent quality food and beverages. Unique choices. Great service.
The food was spectacular. Great local spot. Well worth going to check it out. I ll be back again.
Superb service and food!! We had Artic Char, Beet and Goat Cheese salads and Crab Cakes. The quality and presentation of our meals was outstanding. The staff were exceptional ! Sorry that we did not Have room to try desserts!!!!!
Hearty, tasty food served reasonably swiftly by an attentive team. Wine list good. Dinner options good. Gluten free options available. Vegetarian options: Many of the items on the menu were gluten free or could be adapted that way.
Was really disappointed when we got their most expensive dish the halibut served cold. Other dishes were ok at best. Service was great. Drinks were good too
Loondocks was a pleasant surprise in Burlington. When you enter you are met with a homey feel with pictures of cottages and canoes and loons everywhere. They had unique cocktails and the Loondocks Cab Nero wine from Pilliteri estates was delicious. The food was also very nice. I had the tiger shrimp risotto and my husband had the filet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection and had a lovely presentation. I was celebrating my birthday but was too full for dessert ap they sent me home with a piece of cheesecake to enjoy. Excellent friendly service from the owner who also moved our table to a quieter spot away from louder groups. Highly recommended. Parking: Open lot in a plaza, but the windows if the restaurant have dark shades drawn gor a better ambiance.
Every item I have ever tried on their menu is excellent!
I;ve been there several times and always had a great experience. The food is really good, the service second to none! Parking: All around the restaurant which is in a plaza so no problems finding a spot
We have been to Loondocks several times, and have always enjoyed it. IMO it is a but pricey - dinner, drinks, dessert for three just under 400 w tip. But the food is very good and the service very attentive. Flourless chocolate cake very dense. Otherwise, enjoy !!
The service and food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant. Bob
Absolutely great experience. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The hosts and the server were very professional and polite. The food was exceptional. The appetizers and portions are perfect size, they are well plated and the taste is just amazing. Some dishes could have used a bit more salt (mushroom medley and the potato tower that came with the filet mignon) but its not something you cant solve with the waiter. Everything else was super delicious. Definitely coming back to try more dishes
Loondocks is has got to be one of the best restaurants in Ontario, everything about the experience is 5-star all the way. First and foremost the food is nothing short of spectacular. I ordered a 3 course with Poached Pear Salad and Yukon Arctic Char Filet, also had some Manitoba Elk Sliders, everything was literally perfect. Our server Olivia was excellent, explained the menu very well, she was charming and checked on us during each round to make sure we had everything we needed, it would have been hard to do any better. All the other supporting staff were very well mannered and made our experience for my Dad s 71st birthday impeccable. Even if I showed up here on at the end of a bad day and I tried to find something wrong, it would be a huge challenge. I can promise, no matter what the occasion is you go here for, it s going to be a 10/10. I live over 30 mins away but it s a damn short drive given the reward. Treat yourself, friends and family by going to Loondocks, it will be hard not to go back! Thank you team Loondocks!
Great owner. Great food and service.
Wow! Nothing less but a Gem we found! Peaceful Muskoka theme, super friendly server telling interesting stories about the place, charming environment and unbeatably delicious gnocchi! See you soon again!
Love this place. Always great service and amazing food.
Service was excellent and the food was outstanding! The gnocchi is the best I ve ever had. We will definitely be back.
Love that they are very accommodating to dietary requirements including Celiac. Delicious food, wonderful staff. Perfect night out! Dietary restrictions: Majority of items are Celiac safe. I had choices!!
Great food and fantastic service. The staff were very friendly and helpful with menu choices and they were very flexible regarding modifications. They also have a very nice wine list. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: The staff was very accommodating with dietary restrictions that we had at our table.
Tasting menu New Year s Eve was exceptional
Loondocks Restaurant is a culinary delight, particularly known for its delicious lamb dishes. The menu boasts a variety of flavorful options that cater to diverse tastes. The portion sizes are acceptable, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. What sets this restaurant apart is the warm and welcoming nature of the staff, creating a friendly atmosphere that adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Whether youre a fan of lamb or looking for a welcoming dining environment, Loondocks Restaurant comes highly recommended for its delicious cuisine and hospitality.
Very positive atmosphere, beautiful decoration, kind servants, delicious and well designed food.
Really enjoyed my first time at Loondocks today. My daughter and I enjoyed our lunch so much. Service was exceptional and the food was amazing.
This restaurant was cozy and attractive. As a person who brought two kids I would say its not really the kind of place Id bring them usually but it worked out well. The server Amanda clearly had a lot of experience and made took care of all the little things that make kids visit go smoothly. Everyone really enjoyed their food choices and we had a perfect family lunch date.
Had the new years tasting menu. 5 out of 7 aint bad. Accept the entre , lamb Wellington was way over cooked and tasteless. Dessert was way too rich. I love this restaurant but please try better next year.
Amazing food and amazing service, will definitely be back!
Fantastic first time there. Lesley, our server, provided outstanding attention. The food was 10/10. We look forward to returning. Parking: No issues parking
We went for the first time. We had several apps. The apple pecan salad was a wonderful portion, colourful and delicious. The venison sliders were beyond amazing. They were were juicy and tender. A treat for the senses. The restaurants environment has a very Muskoka centric upscale vibe that works on every level. The decor was spectacular, warm and inviting. For my main I got the filet and it was perfect. Flavoured to perfection and think about it basically melted in my mouth. The prices were very fair considering the outstanding quality. I will absolutely be going back. What an experience. 10/10
I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Loondocks last evening! I ordered the Choriza Gnocchi and my friend had the filet Mignon. We both loved our meals! Our server, Cindy, provided excellent service. The atmosphere was relaxing! I will definitely be revisiting this wonderful restaurant!
The food was amazing and service was more than what we expected. Shout out to our server, Cindy, looking after my family during our dine in visit.
Lily was a most friendly and attentive hostess. Thanks
Great restaurant to visit when you re in Burlington. Place is clean, subtle but pleasantly decorated but the main thing that makes it great is the food.
Wife and I thought it would be nice to stop in for a quick drink after a long day. We walked in about ten after nine and headed to the bar where Kelly welcomed us and I informed her we were just looking for a drink and maybe catch the end of the Leaf game, it seemed perfectly alright to her. Then the manager (blonde hair big glasses) raced right over to very rudely let us know that they were closed, even though it clearly says they are open until 10. But we are extremely lucky because it just so happens that there are still people eating so she will grant us the privilege of having a drink from the bar. She also seemed to take great pleasure in informing me that they dont get the channel that the Leaf game is on, she never asked what channel it was and I dont believe they dont get basic TSN. Kelly was a great server but who ever that manager was, wow, what a trainwreck of communication skills, she has the ability to make her customers feel completely unwelcome and just for fun serve them a side of lies too. I feel sorry for whoever has to work under her. Ive been bringing my family to Loondocks for special occasions through the years, the Valentines Day dinner was the most recent, and I even ordered the Mothers Day brunch delivery twice from them during the Covid lockdowns. But I will never return now. And if anyone ever asks me about a good place to eat. I will simply say this. AVOID LOONDOCKS!
Experienced the seven course Valentine s Day set menu and it was lovely. The server was friendly and attentive. Each course worked well together and it definitely inspired us to come back and try the full menu one day!
Had a wonderful night at Loondocks, ordered brie, wild boar and crab cakes, wine and chamomille. Food was excellent, servers were friendly and attentive, ambiance was nice.
First time at this place. Great food, lovely servers.. Gnocchi was fantastic!
4 of us went in for dinner, quiet Wed night. First time for 2 of us. 2 appetizers, the salads, the mains...all FANTASTIC. All so well balanced. Really good service from Kelly. Highly recommend this place. Parking: All free parking in the lot
Oh my goodness and I do mean GOODNESS!!!.. I invited my neighbor to lunch and we were most warmly welcomed by Cindy and taken to our table. Maya and Cindy took great care of us. We ordered the French onion soup which was beautifully served and just delicious, we Both ordered the Steak Frites and it was absolutely just FABULOUS, the steak was tender and just so good, and the frites were perfect.. I kept telling Cindy please tell the Chef how much we enjoyed our meal, and a most charming young man Kevin came out of the kitchen our chef, of course it made our day he has been at Loondocks for over10 years and loves his career, he works with the best ingredients.. This restaurant gets 5 stars on every level. If you havent been you are missing a first class experience.
Great food.
This was our second visit. I ordered a vodka martini. It wasnt very cold, and came served in a 70s style champagne glass. I then tried an old fashioned, which was delicious. My husband ordered the wild boar which was just okay. I ordered the monk fish, which was one of the oddest dishes Ive ever tasted. It was fish wrapped in prosciutto served with curried cabbage. No mention of curry at all in the menu description. My husband ordered strawberry cheesecake and got chocolate. I ordered spiced pear gelato, which was grainy and salty. I actually had to leave the restaurant to get some air, and to buy Gravol from the pharmacy across the parking lot. Needless to say, we wont be back.
Great food, very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Got to our table right away and service was awesome.
Kevin and the team hosted our staff dinner for ~23 people, service was excellent and food was prepared beautifully with portions that left noone hungry. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: We had several vegetarians and they were well catered for. Parking: Plenty of parking in the mall they are located in.
Cozy up scale dinning. Food was excellent. We had the bison and wild bore and they were bother really good. Parking: A lot of parking.
Love the atmosphere and decor. Food was yummy but overpriced. flour less chocolate cake was too dense but the French toast creme brulee was the best ever
The drinks were perfect. Fries were lovely. I really liked the light seasoning and herbs on them. The veggie burger was wholesome and nice tasting a bit soft and undercooked, though I m sure that s an easy fix. The rooftop patio wasn t open yet, but it was still nice and very enjoyable.
I agree. 4.5/5.0 or higher is fair. They performed well in all areas (food, service, design). I didn t even know they have a cool rooftop patio that is great for sunsets. Had 3 courses (soup, appetizer, entree ) and they were all consistent and well executed. Dinner: 1) soup- shrimp & chorizo bisque 8.3 2) crab cakes - Nova Scotia - 8.1 3) bison Remoulade - 8.0 4) bonus they have potato au gratin as a side and I substituted for the fingerlings. Absolutely recommend if you ve never had or like au gratin. Google it. Portion looks small but is powerful. Don t think twice if you like potatoes. The bread comes warm with a nice flavoured butter. Service was super quick. Food was coming out in less than 10-15m mins. Staff were friendly and likeable. They could improve the music, but overall, an understated high value experience. Prices were on par for the competition. I would go back. It seems great for parties, romance and friends. Wine list is decent not extensive. I guess if I could sum them up, excellent quality, not pretentious and seem like they all care about quality. Good job on how they run the business.
Not much room to sit outside but inside is very nice. Amazing food.
I had a very tasty meal! They made is actually custom for me. My husband usually orders signature burgers. He liked his burger as well. Food
Enjoyed dinner at Loondocks, the service staff was very friendly and helpful. The appetizers looked delicious but the servings are big. The steak was cooked perfectly and the risotto with shrimp was so tasty. Would have enjoyed dessert but we were so full. The music was not too loud, was just a nice relaxing atmosphere. Lots of parking which is always helpful!
A wonderful experience! My wife and I both greatly enjoyed our lunch, and the service was exceptional.
My husband and I had a truly lovely dinner at Loondocks, wonderful service and incredible food. I had the pickerel and my husband had the wild boar, both were delicious and cooked perfectly. I also had a blackberry soda that was so yummy. It was such a treat, hoping we can make it back again!
Great place for dinner in Burlington.
Vegetarian options: They have an entire menu for vegetarian options Food
Amazing food some of the best crab cakes I ve had and a great server. Plus awesome drinks
Great place if youre looking for a nice dinner! I especially recommend their chorizo gnocchi, strawberry garden soda, and French toast creme brulee.
Celebrated our wedding anni dinner here while we stayed at the beautiful Pearle. On Canadas 100 best 2021 so we had some high expectations. Complimentary champagne was provided which was a nice touch. The couple of apps we had such as crab cakes, duck carpaccio were outstanding. Big two pieces of fully stuffed crab cake and carpaccio was flavourful. Cheddar potato gratin also great. It was one of the the mains that wasnt up to snuff. The Boar had a lot of positive reviews which influenced me to order it. Supposed to be tender, juicy and melt in mouth. Unfortunately mine was none of the above. Overcooked, tough and dry. Arctic Char was cooked perfectly with crispy skin. Crème brûlée dessert which was also fantastic with flavours of vanilla, cinnamon and maple, was served on a plate with Happy Anniversary printed on it and a candle. Overall a great experience. Just got let down by the boar.
Came here for anniversary. We had soups, duck and fish. They were all excellent! Thank you for making food nice and hot. Food : 5/5 |
Service was perfect Suggestion for better lighting on the patio at night Service
+ Muskoka Grille + good drinks = = Croc Rock Lives!!!!!
Absolutely love this venue! It is like a hidden paradise. If you are looking to have great dining experience come visit the Loondocks. Food will not taste the same after you do! Thanks for having us! ps Can t wait to come back!
Me and my wife dont smoke or drink but thoroughly enjoy dining out as our guilt pleasure. Over the past couple of years we have seeked out and experienced many places but this place really and I mean really stands out. All three courses were absolutely mind blowingly incredible and the staff and service was equally impressive. If you have an opportunity to visit this place you would be crazy to pass it up *****
Had a great experience with our server Olivia at Loondocks. We both order the filter mignon, (mushroom sauce was spectacular) and it was perfectly cooked. My wife had the best Caesar shes had and I fell in love with the smooth sailing light beer. Great date night on the patio that felt very intimate and exclusive. Highly recommeding this hidden gem and the side patio was surprisingly empty. We live in Milton and nothing in that town can replicate this experience. Parking: Wide open spot everywhere.
A hidden gem ! We had such a lovely experience here. The food was delicious- I had the Arctic Char and my husband had the Shrimp Risotto. The crab cakes were excellent! All of the food was beautifully presented. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. Can t wait to be back!
Celebrated an anniversary which was acknowledged by the woman sitting us as well as our friendly server. Pleasant atmosphere and the server was very friendly and attentive and answered our questions about the menu. Food was superb (had a pickerel dish and red pepper chorizo soup and delicious creme brulee). The only recommendation I would have is have a couple of more dishes that dont have cheese in them. I cant have cheese. All in all a great dining experience.
What a wonderful menu, a gem...my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and decided to try a new restaurant.. wow..we went to Loondocks in Burlington, and we were so glad we did.. The food is plated like art, the food flavors are seasoned to perfection and the service is professionally given...the portions are very fare, the prices are based on great meat quality and choice selections..we will be back again especially since they do seasonal menus..
It was a quiet evening but the service was very slow. Angus beef tenderloin tips were amazing but didnt really enjoy the watermelon salad.
Food is out of this world!
Our expectations were crushed after our experience as this meal failed to meet the hype. First off the server was great, she was super friendly and well experienced. At first glance you might think you were going to be in for a treat as the dishes were plated well, but then at first taste you realize there is no flavor and absolutely no umami. The biggest disappointment is that this lesson comes at a high price. Cheers!
Happened upon this restaurant while avoiding Toronto traffic and will definitely be back. Beautifully prepared real food with interesting and well balanced flavours. Nice atmosphere for being in town. Generous portions for this quality of dining!
I ve been here twice with a large crowd and the food and staff never miss! The menu is well thought out and well portioned. They offer a variety of cocktails that complement the meals. This place has the best carpaccio in the surrounding area. I chose the filet mignon with tiger shrimp, it was incredible! 10/10 would highly recommend!
We recently had our private birthday party hosted by Loondocks. From start to finish, we felt like honored guests. The staff were amazing, as well as the selected appetizers. Nice adult vibe makes Loondocks a wonderful venue. The price point is really competitive. WORTH EVERY PENNY. Thank you!! Dan and Deb
The food here is _amazing_, I wish I could give it more stars. I loved every bite, and Im really picky. We had a big group and they did a good job overall, if a bit slow. Would definitely eat here again the next time Im looking for a fancy meal. Vegetarian options: They have a small vegetarian and vegan menu. At first glance it looks like an afterthought, but the vegan croquettes were amazing according to my vegan friend, so they narrowed the menu to stuff they can do really well.
very nice and pleasant restaurant, price very reasonable.
Great food and excellent service Will definitely be back when in the area Food
Was there on Thursday November 30 for a late lunch. Service was on point, food was stellar, wine list was great. Will be coming back
Came here after hearing continuously how great it is as a lunch date. I get what the hype is for. Its a quaint spot with efficient and friendly service. It was pretty quiet when we went because it was week day lunch, but I can see this place getting a little noisy since we could hear every word a table that was pretty far away from us was saying. I had the crab cakes and a Caesar salad; both of which were very enjoyable. Id love to come back and try dinner sometime.
Wonderful dinner at Loondocks. The filet mignon and artichoke char were out of this world along with some amazing cocktails. Great service and beautiful atmosphere. Fantastic night out. Totally recommend it.
Ordered takeout last night for dinner and the meal was excellent. Staff were friendly and the meal was so fresh that the food was still hot after the drive home.
My brother visited from Poland and we went to Loondocks for a fancy dinner to celebrate before he left. I wish we went a few more times when he was here because we all loved the food and atmosphere. We were a table of 5 and ordered food from the main menu and the Vegan menu. It was really nice that they had a dedicated plant-based selection so we were not all searching for items in a large menu. Everything was clearly labeled and fresh. Everyone got something different and all the dishes came out at the same time, hot and delicious. We were all very pleased with the presentation and service. We never had to call a server over, it is like they instinctively knew the best times to check on us. My husband also loved the craft draft Canadian beers. I loved the wine selection and pairings that were suggested by Brittany. The owner and Chef Kevin came out to see how we were enjoying the dinner and we learned more about him and his sustainable philosophy with food waste and their meticulous ingredient selection. The name Loondocks really sounded familiar and after talking with Kevin I remembered that we actually ate at his previous location in Port Carling Muskoka many years ago! And he actually remembered us :) I have meant to write this review for awhile and am still in awe over that night as I don t get to see my brother very often. I m really happy I took him here and plan on making this a tradition when he comes back in the summer. When you remember an experience this long you know the staff did an amazing job. We drove from Mississauga and passed by so many other places to get there. I would highly recommend if you have never been. Beware though it may raise the bar higher than you thought and other restaurants might not compare.
Based on strong reviews (not always right but in this case ..) went for dinner, greeted and seated promptly and politely, I would say the decor was just basic, but that said it was a cold winter night, I haven t seen the upper patio, and due to COVID rules the tables were far apart, I guess losing that intimate feeling. The food though, was excellent! Well presented, good portion sized in my opinion, others may have a heftier appetite but I left pleasantly full after a 5 course meal, every course was delicious! Beet salad was fantastic with the goat cheese balls, I think I could just have that and the squash soup for lunch and call it a day! The Filet mignon was an ok size for me, I don t eat that much red meat, but every bite was good with a nice mushroom sauce to give it that extra pop! The red snapper, moist and flavourful as I m told, a nice healthy alternative I skipped this time for the steak! Service was great, kind and attentive, with food coming at the perfect time. A great dinner worthy of the good reviews, will definitely go again, especially to try the outdoor patio in the summer!
Nothing to complain about and was only satisfied afterwards! That was our experience from being seated to paying the bill. Food portions were right and the risotto especially was flavourful. The crème brûlée was the perfect way to close off dinner! Pricing was moderate and the ambience was quiet and warm. Also, the service was great; everyone was kind and welcoming!
Went last night for the first time, loved everything about it. Its a beautiful restaurant, and the food was amazing. We had crab cakes, beet salad, turbot and duck wellington. All was delicious and the service was excellent.
Seems out of place to have such a lovely hideaway in a shopping plaza. You might expect to see something like a fast food joint or a pub in a plaza, but not something as delightful as this. Do yourself a favour and dont let the odd placement fool you. Give it a try. A Muskoka feel on the interior with delicious food and great service.
My wife and I popped in on the spur of the moment and were pleasantly surprised. Our server (Thomas) was friendly and informative. The food was well plated and delicious. Definitely coming back.
Went back for dinner this time. Customer service is welcoming. Seated right away. The server immediately comes with our request for drinks. After our orders, we were served with a basket of cute rosemary bread with whipped butter. It was so deliciously soft, aromatic and a touch of sweetness into our mouth. The right kind of bread anytime. Our meals were wild Baffin Island turbot and tiger shrimp risotto. Not only were the turbot presented nicely, it has the right texture and tastes so good. The risotto was creamy and the shrimps were fresh and sweet. Most of all, the meals were served warm! The dessert we ordered was strawberry cheesecake and coffee. Have never tasted such detailed and deliciously made cheesecake before. The best so far! Portion were just good for one and the pricing were a bit steep. Overall, it is worth the value as the ingredients are all locally produced. Will definitely go back again.
Delicious vegan options!
Came here with my family of 8 for Good Friday Lunch had wonderful options and a vegetarian menu. Server even took a family photo of us all. 10/10
First time here, food was good. Dufton provided amazing service. Great way to celebrate birthday.
Had a date night with my wife here last night. The service, cocktails and food were all great! Will be going back 100%
Was really hoping this would be better - especially with it having been chosen as one of Canadas top 100 in 2021. Our appetizers (crab cakes and bison carpaccio) were good. But the mains were underwhelming. Not bad. Just not WOW as top 100 would suggest they ought to be. And, maybe its just me, but I find zucchini a bit of a cop-out as a seasonal vegetable. Our service was very pleasant but not especially attentive. Long moments without a check in, having to request a dessert menu, no dessert cutlery (we used our coffee spoons). Not a big deal AT ALL...just not reflective of top 100.
The hours on Google and Open Table are wrong. We dropped in at 930 for a drink but the bartender said they were closed. Google said it was open until 10pm. Not sure what the closing time is and would love for this to be clarified.
Great food excellent service
Excellent food and service! Thank you Maya and the rest of the team! This is definitely our new go to spot!
Tonight was my first experience at this fabulous establishment. Well, I was not disappointed. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch. Overall experience was A+. Highly recommend others to try it out. Keep up the good work!!
Friendly and accommodating staff. Delicious food in perfect proportions.
Unfortunately had a bad experience here. Seems as if one of the hostess who was serving our table had an issue with me and I felt as if I were treated poorly. I had been seated with my group for a couple of minutes, and while this hostess was pouring a drink of water for the person who was across the table from me, I politely asked if I could order a drink as I had just reviewed the mixed drink menu. I have no idea why, but her face immediately dropped as if she were annoyed upon hearing my request. She straightened up, completely ignored me, then turned and walked away VERY quickly from the table without even acknowledging me. Mind you, she was literally leaning over me to pour out the drink for my friend across the table, so there is no way she could not have heard me. I was caught off guard at the rudeness, and was baffled for a second - as I clued in to her trying to ignore me as she left the table, I turned around to say excuse me! with enough volume so she could hear me. She kept walking (maybe to the bar/ the kitchen?) and disappeared in the back. Still perplexed, I looked around at a few people who were sitting beside and across from me at the table to confirm that I wasnt just hearing/seeing things, and they echoed my confusion - they were asking what just happened, why did she do that? She came back to the table and this time started pouring out some water for me, still looking annoyed but not acknowledging what just happened. I asked her directly did she not just hear me ask her if I could order a drink? She denied hearing me and I proceeded to order my drink but felt so uncomfortable with that whole interaction. The food was okay, reminiscent of the Keg. The restaurant did a good job serving our group, meals came out in a timely manner. I think it was the manager who came out at some point as well to help take orders, and she was really nice and funny. The rest of the staff were kind and helpful. Unfortunately it was the one servers attitude that ruined most of the night for me and I wont be returning.
Great food and friendly staff. They are a fine dining restaurant, but I didnt find them overly expensive. Id definitely go back again. ***updated - Curbside pickup*** I decided to do a Curbside pickup and arrived 10 minutes early to pick up my food. It was not ready, which is a good thing as they have it fresh and hot the time that you are supposed to arrive. The food was nicely prepared and packaged up. ***Updated - June 2022*** Went back to in-person dining. The food is still very good and the staff is still friendly.
Just went in for a drink the other day. Staff and owner were very friendly. Place was very clean and organized. Will be going back for a meal and I expect it will be good. Really nice place to go for a drink. Oh, and the drink to me was very reasonably priced.
Wonderful dining experience. Our waiter was super friendly with a great energy. The flavour of every plate was AMAZING! Zero complaints. Highly recommend!
Great food and amazing staff.
Best food I had in a loooong time! Chef and staff are amazing! (We had crab cakes, filet mignon, and wine)
Leslie is the best. And the food was amazing.
Good service. Great food.
Such an amazing meal!!! We were on the rooftop patio and the service was wonderful
Nice rooftop atmosphere. Good service. High quality drinks and food. Good experience.
Great experience! Fresh ingredients and fishes! Enjoyed every single dish! Chef was very informative with each dish.
Great lunch menu. Roof top was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to the staff for making our visit a pleasure.
This is a very solid restaurant for Canadian cuisine. The service is excellent. I find the menu a bit uninspiring for the price but the food is still quite tasty.
Bit better than a Kelsey s - maybe. Solid 6.25/10 however Kelsey s has far more choice. Cannot compare this with Carriage House which has far better quality.
Went to this place for a beer when it first started and was worried it wouldnt take off. Was beyond happy when we went back for dinner on the rooftop. Good view, cold drink and amazing food. If youre looking for pub food or Boston Pizza style cuisine, dont come here. But if you want a great dining experience, better food and a good date night out, this is the place.
Really nice restaurant. Boar was on the small side but very tasty. Worth getting the tiger shrimp added on. Cocktails were nice, although I think it was syrup for the Manhattan instead of bitters? Quiet on a weeknight
Sept 2, 2022 edit Had the Arctic Char tonight. It was excellent. Excellent food and service. We were there for a celebration and the was given complimentary sparkling wine to start our meals. My main course was the veal chop. It was probably the best veal chop that I had in recent memory, cooked to a perfect medium rare. I had a taste of the halibut that my wife ordered and it was also excellent. Note that the portions are generous. The meal was completed with the cream brûlée, which I really enjoyed.
Great place for dinner! The food was incredible and the staff was friendly. Good service and loved the rooftop patio. Definately want to go back and will recommend to my friends!
Great atmosphere, better food
Yummy food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and very accommodating to different needs. I had been waiting to go for quite some time and they did not disappoint =)
Very few items on the menu. Just ok to try. Kids menu is just fine Parking: Lots of parking open space Wheelchair accessibility: Yes there was one
We had a delicious meal and it was prepared to perfection . we enjoyed the cauliflower soup, duck breast arctic char, wild boar, and gnocchi!! Fabulous food and great service. Parking: Easy parking in mall Kid-friendliness: There were young families enjoying dinner Wheelchair accessibility: Everything on one level
It was my boyfriend birthday and I want it to make him to feel special and I invite him to this amazing restaurant. I visited this place many years ago but this time it was very pleasant experience. We got a table close to the fireplace. Cozy atmosphere and very clean elegant place. Our waitress Nicole was very nice and within her warm smile we felt welcome. Food so delicious and beautifully presented. I will be going back for many more occasions.
Based on the excellent reviews went for dinner but the waitress was just ok not welcoming , although the restaurant was not busy the food took so long to be served and it was just warm not hot when it came the best plate was the shrimp risotto We were a family of six and they added the 17% service although all other restaurants never did that usually it s for a party of (7+) guests
Thanks Thomas for great service - first time eating here everything was amazing. The mushrooms soup was delicious- took my sister for her B-Day, she had the Brie and Mushroom Burger said it was just the right size filling but not too much and although she first declined desert, she changed her mind and had the Creme Brulee with cinnamon and Malpe Syrup she said it was fabulous.
1st time eating here and I will return. Food was delicious and Thomas, our server was terrific!
Very quiet when we visited but was a windy old day. Decided to have the burger wand it was ok and place very clean and tidy. Happy to visit again if in the area as its a pleasesnt restruant. Could do with a more upmarket menu. Im from overseas and was surprised how nice it was for a strip mall. If thats correct term . Happy to go again
The wild boar tenderloin is absolutely exquisite. Great ambience and wonderful staff.
In town for convention. Good choice for your dining pleasure.
Never disappoints! !
Amazing food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. Our server Laurie was so kind and attentive, we really appreciated it as it was our first time there! Will definitely be back!
Update: Ive been a few more times for lunch and dinner. Loondocks has not disappointed. The food is consistently delicious! Will definitely continue to go in the future. This was the first time my wife and I had been to Loondocks. Their menu was different from the usual restaurants we go to, but different in a great way. For appetizers we tried the Red Pepper + Goat Cheese Arancini, the Ontario Venison Sliders, and the Caesar Salad. An absolutely amazing start to the meal. It was all so delicious. For the entrée my wife got the Nova Scotia Snow Crab Cakes app with a side of herb frites with truffle aioli. I got the Yukon Arctic Char Filet. It was the best food Ive had in Burlington. No word of a lie, probably the best food Ive had in my life. I will definitely be coming here again. Fine dining food has grabbed ahold of my heart!
Amazing food and wonderful service
Really terrific food. Great dining environment. Was a nice break from usual lunch stops.
Great place to dine. Love the atmosphere and the food
Unfortunate event took place tonight. Even after confirming with server multiple times I was served pork! I do not eat pork . & I ended up paying full bill. Completely insensitive server & chef. No diversity or inclusion at this restaurant. Not sure if I was targeted due to my colour or belief . What a nightmare!!! After I said I will post about this incident , manager Brittany came up to address the concern & server or chef were no where to be found. I paid $50 for food I could not eat. Horrible experience.
We had our Christmas party at Loondocks on Saturday evening. The food was amazing and our waiters Maya and Leslie were professional and went above and beyond! thank you, we will definitely be back!
Fantastic local restaurant. My first experience with Loondocks was last year and Ive been going back ever since. The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is fantastic!
Had a very good dinner there yesterday. Our server Thomas was very friendly and helpful. ambiance and food both were good
Cozy, warm restaurant with incredible food! This place has quickly become a favorite for date night with my husband. Weve had Leslie serve us the last 2 visits and shes great! Attentive and professional service. We will definitely be back and hope to have her as our server again!
A very comfortable dining experience. The food was outstanding, and the service very good. Pandemic protocols were very good and adhered to. Highly recommend
Food delicious, place cozy.
Went in expecting it to be special. Very disappointed. It was not bad just nothing special.
