1801 Walkers Line unit 7, Burlington, ON L7M 0H6, Canada
Creative modern fare & full bar with draft beers, served in chic digs with communal & chef's tables.
I liked everything about this place. The food was very good. I had the beet salad with goat cheese and carmelized walnuts. Very nicely balanced and very tasty. And the rabbit gnocci, which I'm guessing must be the best item on the menu. We had a very reasonably priced California cab which was delicious. The place is nicely decorated, dimly lit and has a great vibe and ambiance. Friendly staff. Drove from Toronto for a family Christmas dinner. Worth the drive!
The portions were very small. While the steak was perfectly cooked, it was undersized, accompanied by just five asparagus spears and two small sides of 1,000-layer potato. However, the most disappointing part of our experience was feeling rushed by our server. We understand this is a busy time of year, but it would have been more considerate to provide a heads-up when we made our reservation. Paying premium prices for small portions and being repeatedly reminded to finish quickly so the table could be turned over felt disrespectful. Our group of eight friends, coming from all over Ontario, had chosen this restaurant to reunite, catch up, and celebrate our Christmas dinner over good food and drinks, but the experience fell short of expectations. I received the pictured dish with a Cesar cocktail and my bill was $72
Went for brunch this past weekend and our server was great. So personable and funny. Went with a group and we all loved our dishes. 10/10 for taste and quality. Already thinking of the next time I’ll be going. Don’t think you could go wrong with anything you choose!
I recently visited Rust Bistro Bar with my boy——friend, and it was such a fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, we felt the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The decor was chic, and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxed yet special evening out. The menu had a great variety of options, and the food did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
Service is friendly and prompt. Pink skies was sweet and light. The prosciutto sandwich was very flavourful with balsamic and olives w/ a side of homestyle fries. The French toast is to die for with sticky honey butter and pecan drizzle so delicious!
Love coming to rust. Have been here for drinks and apps a couple times and the food is always good. Tried brunch for the first time last Sunday and really enjoyed it. The drinks for brunch are pricey but really tasty. I enjoyed the eggs benny and my friend got the hash. We both really enjoyed our dishes. The service was fantastic as usual.
We loved dining at Rust Bistrobar, an intimate and casual dining destination in Burlington. The food is exceptional. From unique options like bison burgers to classic favorites like steak frites, the menu delivers a delightful culinary experience. I tried the Bison burger and it was delicious. The side of brussel sprouts was huge! A meal in itself. Our party also ordered the Mushroom Risotto and Tagliatelle-both were delicious. And the drinks, top notch! I ordered the Negroni that came with foamed egg white… very good and unique. One of the standout features is their open kitchen. Watching the skilled chefs in action adds an exciting element to the dining experience. It’s like having a front-row seat to culinary magic! They have a bar and long farmhouse tables… great for groups. The service and staff are friendly and attentive, going the extra mile to ensure guests have a memorable time. Nestled in a strip mall, in northern Burlington, a hidden gem, that you must try. Highly recommended. It was our first time and we will definitely be back.
Fantastic experience. Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Will definitely go back. Tuna Poke was amazing!!! Beet salad was delicious. Scallops had pork belly with it. The bison/boar burger was the best I've ever had (forgot pics of main) Fun drink list.
Fab food. Amazing service. And the Christmas decor is simply spectacular!
Stopped by for a late lunch. Food was fresh and truly tasty. Served by Rowe. Nice guy and very attentive. Cob Salad top notch.
Food was absolutely delicious. You can really tell that the ingredients used were fresh and the portion sizes were great. The cocktails are also a great touch.
Great food! Awesome Service! Pleasant atmosphere!
Fantastic food and service! Highly recommend.
Second time to this restaurant but the first was a few years ago. The food is excellent very creative and flavourful. It was very hard to choose!! Ditto for the cocktails. Service was very good as well. The only note of caution is that it gets very loud in the space (which is very open). Very positive experience.
Their hours are a bit weird, but its a great spot for a date or to grab a drink and a snack on the summer when the patio is open. Delicious brunch food and solid regular offerings. The best part though is the patio.
Incredible food! The shortrib and the rabbit were amazing! Ill definitely come back for the tomahawk
Food was very flavourful, well seasoned, cooked to perfection, service was top notch, will return...
Amazing service. Loved it.
Our server Rayne (sp?) was amazing. Everything we ordered was a great portion, fresh and delicious. Im not a cheesecake fan but OMG... Best cheesecake EVER! We cant wait to come back for the great service and delicious food
First time there went for brunch. Food was amazing and large portions. Blueberries pancakes are fantastic! All the workers were friendly without being annoying. Coffee was just okay. Cocktails were really good! Prices are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food. Will definitely be going again.
Excellent dinner with my spouse; great service, food, and ambiance. Definitely recommend!
I cant say enough about RUST! We hosted a brunch for 40 of our family and friends following our daughters wedding the night before. Paola was incredible and extremely accommodating to deal with while planning this. I walked in and was greeted by Deanne and Ro. WOW! So incredibly friendly and hospitable. Everything went without a hitch. The food was amazing - everyone raved and the service was top notch! I would HIGHLY recommend Rust and will get there anytime Im back in Burlington!
We had one of the worst dining experiences at Rust. While my meal was fine, both of my girlfriends dishes were completely inedible due to the overwhelming amount of pepper in the main part of the dish. When brought to the staffs attention, their solution was to tell us that that is how the dish is supposed to taste, and offered my girlfriends one small serving of undercooked broccolini for them to share. Not only was this a completely inadequate response, but it showed a complete lack of care for the issue we raised. We were expecting a replacement or a genuine effort to make things right, but instead, my friends were left disappointed, hungry, and paying full price for their main dish. Needless to say, we wont be returning and we definitely will not recommend Rust to anyone looking for a good dining experience.
Been a bunch of times. Good people, good food.
My husband and I eat out frequently and this is one of our favourites! Everything we have there tastes incredible. My husband has the filet mignon and it was better than any steakhouse we ve been to. The service is always top notch and we love the decor.
Incredible food and excellent service. The restaurant was packed for a 6 pm on Wednesday which goes to say what it means !! The date night special was a great value for money. As a vegetarian I felt pretty good with the array of flavours. Excellent hospitality and decor was so beautiful.
Friendly service and very good food!
First time at Rust was fantastic. There were 4 of us and we all got something different. We all want each others meals, they looked and tasted delicious. I recommend the steak frites was ridiculously good.
The food and service are always amazing here. Rust is definitely one of my go to spots in Burlington
Had the burger and fries. The burger was amazing with Brie cheese. The fries had truffle oil and parm. Wow. Worth the bite. We will be back. Service was friendly and fast.
First time at Rust and everything was amazing: service, the wait, and the food was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be eating there again.
Amazing food an atmosphere. We were able to move to patio which was nice. Only item I was disappointed with was the scallop appetizer. Only 2 scallops. Expensive appetizer for such a small portion. But steak and frittes to die for as was the cheesecake. So next time no appetizer. Money better spent on desert. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accommodating moved us from the Hightower they booked us to a table more accessible for my husband.
Overrated and overpriced for what it is
Great food and atmosphere. Always love the burger and brussel sprouts, but also tried and loved the Tenderloin steak.
Fantastic restaurant, delicious food and wonderful host. All the food was cooked to perfection and delicious. I will come back when Im in the area.
I wrote a good review but then I got my credit card and we were charged more then what we paid. Do the math and it isn t even 25% tip or 20%. It is an in between number which doesn t make sense. Also they charge per glass of pop and didn t tell us. The non alcoholic and dessert prices are not on menu nor do they tell you the cost. I am fine paying for a good meal but then after you get charged a different number that doesn t make sense
My husband and I are regulars here for a reason (actually A LOT of reasons!) The atmosphere is awesome, the service is fabulous and the food is outstanding!!
Had brunch with some friends on Sunday. The food was delicious and well prepared. Our server, Rain, was nice, competent and made some good recommendations. Good vibes - recommend.
Best time, accomated large party my birthday brunch (70th) best server made us feel special. Thank you server name starts with R. Food
The food was really good, I got a steak that came with fries, I only wish it came with some vegetables as well. Yes, you can get veg separately, but youre already looking at $48 for the steak and fries.
The food is amazing. 5 star restaurant for sure. As good or better than the keg
Nicole was amazing, food was great, portions were what you pay for, atmosphere great!!
Food was AMAZING! Service was FANTASTIC!
Food and service was great. Portions are very good.
The food here was creative and tasty. The bison burger was quite dry, so I wouldnt recommend that, but everything else my table of five ate was tasty. The service was lovely! Very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is loud, and the acoustics make it super echoey, so its more of a group of friends vibe, as opposed to a quiet date spot. Overall, Id visit again (but get the chicken and waffles instead of the burger).
Honest and genuine review. Made a reservation for 7:00pm on a Saturday evening. Got in and they said the table isnt ready but have a seat at the bar. Got our table at 7:15, slightly annoyed but things happen. The waitress was inattentive, did not refill our drinks or check on us. The food is pretty good. We got the brie appetizer and it is a very undersized portion of brie with more pastry than cheese. Id say overall its not a bad place but this is certainly no 5-star restaurant or service. Its a pretty decent place for a pint and a bite but dont expect world class food or service. May return some time but many other better places in Burlington.
Went for Valentine s Day and the food was incredible. I got the braised beef and my girlfriend got the steak frites. Lots of flavour, cooked well.
A grown-up bar for people who enjoy exceptional quality food.
Rust!! The absolute best cocktails we have ever had! Thank you Rick? Im horrible with names but we had an incredible time sitting at the bar. The burger and arctic char were phenomenal. And those cocktail! So perfectly balanced. Thank you for such an amazing night.
This is a little hidden gem as far as menu goes. Ive been a few times for both brunch and dinner, and the food never disappoints! The staff is also very lovely. Its a must-try!
Awesome place. Not cheap, but service and food definitely worth it. Tried bison & brie burgers and mussels - they were fabulous. Will come again for steak some day. Kid-friendliness: No kid menu
The food was amazing, would definately recommend anyone taking family, friends or business dinners out to this place
We came here for our first time tonight. We had reservations. The server and service in general was fantastic and the food was top notch quality. Thank you so much, well be back for certain!
Such a great place for dinner. Great selection of cocktails and good local wines on the menu. The Korean cauliflower was amazing - easily shareable. Tuna poke with kiwis sounds weird but was an amazing combo. All our food was good - ended with the cheesecake. An absolute must have! Will be returning for sure.
Everything was excellent..... Johnie was amazing
Food was awesome! Really friendly and accommodating staff. Ordered a charcuterie board which had a lovely variety of meats, cheese, bread, spreads, olives and more. As well as filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked perfect. Asked for a sangria which is not on the menu but they still made one which was also delicious! Very busy so i recommend reservations
The restaurant itself was very nice but it lacked in service. The hostess was very friendly but it took a while for our waitress to come around to get our drink orders. And then took about 35-40 minutes for the food to come out, two of our dishes were lukewarm while the other was hot. The food was alright, nothing too special. We did get checked on as soon as we got our meal but then our waitress left halfway through the meal without closing out or telling us she was leaving. So we sat again for another 45 minutes before someone came over and asked us if we were okay. Not overly satisfied with the service we received, probably wont be going back.
Great staff, great atmosphere and the food here is on another level! We tried the Crostone, Beet Salad and Coq Au Vin and they were absolutely perfect! Apple cider margharita is also highly recommended.
Food was expensive for what you got. Potatoes were overcooked, almost burnt. Cocktails started at 16.95 Breakfast menu started at 20+ and most things were add on. And worse, food was lukewarm upon arrival. Service slow. Actually had to go up to bar and get our cocktails as Sat on counter for 20 minutes. Long wait for food. Not in a hurry to go back.
Two appetizers and 4 mains between 5 people. We had a lot of value for the food. The tomahawk steak was comparable to a high end restaurant. Service was good and attentative. Would definitely come return.
Had dinner and drinks Jan 2023. Such a unique space! I loved the open kitchen. We ordered drinks off the Holiday menu. The apple spiced margarita and smoked old fashioned were amazing. Dinner was excellent and unique - scallop risotto and mushroom Wellington were both perfect. Highly recommend trying this hidden gem out! Make sure to make reservations as the space is cozy.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Been here a few times and will be back. Highly recommend!
Showed up and was informed my reservation was no longer there (they gave it away). Not sure theyre aware of what a reservation is supposed to be. Fortunately I know what a review is supposed to be, and mine is less than impressed.
Three of us ventured out to Rust a few weeks ago and explored the menu. Nice atmosphere, and had heard great things about the quality of food. Here is how the night went. 1. We ordered the Buratta salad which was nice but really is meant to share AND you really need to add some bread to this dish. In talking to the server, they did mention that it used to come with bread but was recently changed. You need to bring this back. What person or persons can just eat a lump of cheese in that manner? We asked for side bread (which is an additional charge... really nickel and diming us here) and this definitely improved the tastes of the dish. 2. Ordered the Fritto Misto and just found that the dish could benefit from perhaps fresh citrus rather than deep fried/burned lemon pieces. Very unpleasant 3. Mushroom Crostone - Great flavours yes BUT wow $20 for a piece of 3x4 sourdough bread with mushrooms. Dont get me wrong, great tasting dish, but this markup is substantial. Maybe offer another piece for that amount of money. WOW. 3. Burger was great Just felt that when you charge these prices, you can afford to offer the guests a little more to enhance the experience. And if your servers can see that the dishes may need something, I think you need to listen to them. I think this place will make their money, but cutting too many corners will definitely turn people off. Very unsure if Ill go back. We knew the price and type of night we were in for, but it did not really leave a fantastic feeling in the three of us when we left.
Food was FANTASTIC! Had the braised short ribs and burrata. Our server, Nicole, was wonderful, engaging and on the ball. Ill go again.
One word - AMAZING. Do your taste buds a favour and go. Also always best to make a reservation as its always busy. The staff is great and the food is always FANTASTIC
Best brunch in Burlington
Fantastic service and the lamb was delivered! Great cocktails too.
Amazing place for food and drinks. Such a happy place. It s our go to place for the best drink in tow . Rick is an amazing and he makes the best drinks in Canada.
Delicious and great service! My sister thought her scallops tasted fishy and they comped her dish which was very nice of them. The rest of us really enjoyed our meals.
The best part of the visit was the food, by far! We were a group of 6, out to celebrate mine and my father-in-laws birthdays. Each of us had something different, and there were no complaints. I chose the Burratta plate, as well as the braised beef and potatoes. I always take home half of everything, but with the serving sizes, I was able to enjoy everything and have 2 servings for myself left over. That is a win, in my opinion. Prices were normal for the type of food, and due to the portions, it feels worth the money. All the drinks were tasty, too. Our service was a little slow, but not anything that upset the evening. I will be coming back with just my husband and I to enjoy the atmosphere on a more relaxed night for us. I noticed the central table, which likely makes a unique spot for a larger birthday or celebration.
Been here 3 times now, but never going back. First time we had a seat with zero privacy, felt like the people next to us were listening to every word we said. Second time, our steaks were not done properly and had to be sent back twice. Third time, we were seated outside in the worst possible location (the sun was beating on us and when we asked to move to one of the other available 10 or more tables, the server said they were all reserved - yet, somehow no one was there.) Treated very poorly, so our party of 4 left. I have no idea how other people have enjoyed it here. Waited a long time to write this review, but had to be said at some point.
Amazing food and great service.
Went with family. They all ordered the same dish, and enjoyed it. I ordered a ravioli dish which was tasty but undercooked. Server was nice to us and polite.
Food was amazing and our server went above and beyond
Fantastic across the board Thanks for the exceptional service. Best staff in Burlington.
Eggs Bennys were outstanding!
Best burger Ive ever had in my life!
We had the most amazing brunch here on Sunday. It was full but we sat at the bar. Service was speedy and friendly. The food was amazing, everything was cooked to perfection and tasty. I had chorizo eggs Benny and hubby had steak and eggs. We will be back!
Nice place... Bit expensive..but good food .. We live nearby so it was nice for our Wedding Anniversary dinner Food : 5/5
Rib cooked well but flavour less. Needed serious salt. Was much better heated up at home. Cornish hen dinner was a very small meal. The whole night was an Overpriced disappointment.(almost $200 with tips and 2 glasses of wine and 2 beer). Service was good. Im going back to the judge and jury just down the street. Half the price, twice the taste.
Food looked and tasted delicious. There were seven of us there for brunch. Everybody was happy and full. They were very good about menu adjustments Sauce on the side, no jalapeños, etc. they were having a problem with their milk frothed for our cappuccinos so they took quite a while, but they never charges us...we didn t ask them to and never complained very good customer service. Cocktails are a little pricey I think. Otherwise all good. Bill was approximately $50 per person which was a cocktail and a brunch item (that nobody could finish, but really wanted to). The patio was open and it did that little rough but it is the beginning of the patio season. We were all happy and will all return for dinner next.
Osso Buco and short rib absolutely amazing and super hot when it arrived. Cool cocktails too. Nice to see the open kitchen.
Food was a little pricey, but tasted very nice.
Dinner menu needs work! We have been here multiple times for brunch and it has been spectacular each time. We recently tried their dinner menu and it fell far below expectations. I wanted to love it so much, but the taste of the food itself was not at all the same. For instance, the steak frites, though cooked perfectly, were seasoned with an overwhelming amount of rosemary, to the point where that s all you could taste, despite the description mentioning other strong flavours such as truffle. It was super disappointing. Similarly, the flavours in the other dinner dishes ordered were not at all balanced. Easy fixes Hopefully given they have the quality of food down
Probably the best bennies ever! Try the chorizo one and pair with mimosas on a summer patio day.
Great place for upscale dining and excellent service. Steak cooked perfectly and good Brussel sprouts
Dietary restrictions: Keto friendly Food
First time to Rust, but I have been all over Burlington. So far my favourite place to eat here. Great atmosphere, great cocktails, great service and great food. Appetizers, cauliflower best I had for a long time, flavourful, with a crunch and just delicious. Cesar, really fresh, flavourful and a very good salad. Mains, burgers, man what a burger and what fries juice, great tasting, the brie with the scallops jelly, and the patty, oh my goodness. Steak perfectly cooked, great flavour with the fries, fantastic. Desert cheesecake with caramel, exceptional. Even the decaf cappuccinos were excellent. Great food experience, my favourite place in Burlington and well deserved 5 stars.
One of the best restaurants Ive been to. If you havent already, go there now!
Very overpriced
Overall the service was great and so was the vibe here. However two menu options I wanted for brunch were all done for the day. I would have called in to check but I didn t expect that as it s unusual for a popular restaurant to be out of steak and club sandwiches. Nonetheless the one item we did order was alright. Perhaps I would rate higher if I was able to try a couple of different items. Service was incredible. Our server was very polite and kind and I would go here again. However I would call to check next time and may want to make sure you call in as well if you re looking for a steak and egg brunch to make sure they have it available.
The food is absolutely amazing, with an ever changing menu- which never disappoints. A warm and inviting atmosphere. The service is always exceptional
Rust was small and unique which I love! The staff were very nice and friendly. Although we didn t have reservations, they sat us down pretty quickly. The food here is on another level, everything we had was delicious and would recommend this place to anyone! I highly recommend the short rib, just don t eat too much of the appetizers because the portion is large.
Every single item Ive had here over the years is simply fantastic. Every ingredient is so well thought out to make the final masterpiece. Food
Great date night vibes
Be prepared to spend some money...
The burger was very interesting but the risotto was not good very bland my hubbies complained and still has to pay full bill empty seats for reserved but no one showed we were done by time of res but not offered those seats very disorganized
Had the beef short rib and wow soooo good. Definitely lives up to the reviews and am sure to come back again!
The service was soooo slow and our waitress even said our service isn t that great, it s more about the food. Beware.
We were there for dinner as a party of 8 celebrating 2 birthdays. We had made a 6:30 reservation weeks prior due to the fact we had a baby in a high chair with us. As we were seated we were told we had the table for 2 hours. Our waitress approached immediately and took our drink orders. Half an hour later we were finally served our drinks. We asked to order and she said she d be back in a minute. 20 minutes later she returned. We ordered and our apps were delivered in a fairly timely fashion. Our mains took at least 50 minutes to get there. When the baby started to tire I asked the waitress what was taking so long and she replied that they were not a fast service restaurant. In the end the parents with the baby took their dinners to go as it was past 8:30. The food was not amazing. My polenta was cold. The whole evening was very disappointing. I had been there several times prior but after that experience we will never ever return.
Unbelievably slow service and my steak was raw when I asked for medium rare. Had to take it to go because of the slow service too. First and last time I dine here. Prices were outlandish considering their mediocrity as well.
I NEVER complain, ever. I never even write negative reviews, ever. However, today I was very confused with my meal. I went there for the first time and was excited to experience the brunch menu. I got the regular eggs Benedict, and it came with potatoes and salad (which I thought was strange, but whatever). When I got my food, it was cold; the eggs were cold, the hollandaise was cold, everything was cold. I asked the server for a side of hollandaise hoping it was nice and hot and would heat everything up, and when I got it, I poured it on my eggs and it was COLD. I couldn t believe it. I asked them to heat up my plate cause I couldn t eat it the way it was, and the server brought it back and then told me that the hollandaise is actually suppose to be cold, but they re going to try and figure out how to heat up your plate. I have never heard of hollandaise being cold, ever. I got my plate back and it seemed as if they put more barely lukewarm hollandaise on it. I ate it, reluctantly because I was starving and had a long drive home. I was really disappointed and won t be going back there, especially not for brunch.
Tuff to get table... but the chefs are well worth the visit.
Amazing food. Really good service and ambiance! Good spot for date night and cocktails.
Always a great meal at Rust!
No longer one of my fave restaurants in Burlington. Every other restaurant will LET YOU KNOW if food will take a little while longer and customers who are hungry will usually then decide to pick something else. Ali failed to mention coq au vin takes 40-45 mins. We almost got up and went to a&w but felt bad thinking the food was coming and it never came. We even asked Ali how long itll take after 40 mins and she came back saying 2 more minutes and apologizing. Took another 6 mins and someone else served it to us apologizing and she even gave us our bill with an employee discount and a free dessert. Didnt catch her name but she was way better than Ali. Not impressed Ali.
Visited Rust for the first time this weekend for a Sunday brunch and was really pleasantly surprised! Our group of 4 all ordered different versions of the eggs benedict and they were all incredible, the hash browns are some of the best Ive ever had. Service was also great, polite and not rushing us through even though the restaurant was quite busy. Will definitely be back for dinner and a seat on the patio in the summer!
The portion of the plate very small . The prices vary high . Too long waiting for the order Food : 1/5
Very displeased with the service. Waiters were very kind and did great on their part but the food took forever to reach us. We waited 40-45 minutes for the food, which is okay for a large portion but even then the portion was small. The ravioli had 7 or 8 pieces, and they werent big pieces, the burger was small, but the jerk chicken club was tasty. The food tasted okay, wasnt special or particularly good. Presentation was solid too. Atmosphere is great but the displeasure with the experience leaving a bitter taste. Not to mention the prices were insanely high for the portion. I wouldnt come here again. If you want bang for buck go to AYCE sushi or mandarin. If you want higher quality theres better place, this is a poor middle ground option.
It took 45 minutes to get the food. The price for the food amount is high; small burger with fries for $29; 7 or 8 pcs of ravioli for $28.
Had a tasty frittata for lunch, with an espresso & gluten-free bread. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, and the service was great, so we decided to stay for dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was quite rich, which was nicely paired with fresh fruit and whipped cream. Would definitely return! Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free toast & and gluten-free flourless chocolate cake!
Had a great time here on Sat night! I had the burger and ceasar salad - both of which were soooooo delicious! My friend is a french onion soup nut, so she had that. Said the broth was a bit of a creamy texture, but still good. She also had the beet salad which she said was outstanding especially the whipped goat cheese! We shared the truffle frites, which were so yummy. Service was great!
The food was amazing and so were the cocktails. Negroni sour. Yum!
Oh my god, my husband and I visited RUST for the first time last night and we were not disappointed!!! Service was amazing, and the food wow. Not only delicious, but extremely generous portion sizes. We sat at the kitchen counter and my jaw dropped when I saw some of the plates heading out to their tables. Most notably was the Tomahawk steak which literally looked bigger than my head. And I also have to mention the Apple Cider Margarita what a damn good drink !!! If you want to try it, make sure you get reservations!!!
Giving this restaurant 2 stars. 1 star because the food tasted good and was plated nicely. Although our steak was over cooked so that sort of brings it down a bit. Second star is because the servers were nice. BUT, the restaurant was frigid. I mean, we and everyone around us was wearing a winter coat. My feet were so cold it took our entire 45 minute drive home to warm up. We told the server and she did say that it was a persistent problem, but if it is then get some space heaters! We spent $300 to literally shiver for an hour and a half. Also wasn t crazy about being told there was a table waiting behind us at 7pm especially when we were clearly on our way out anyways. We had dessert and all of the sudden this table was pressing. It felt like they only said it after we had finished spending money. Next the prices for this food are a bit insane. And I say this knowing everything is more expensive lately but my goodness $24 for two crab cakes. Very overpriced for what you re getting in my opinion. The experience and quality don t match the price.
We decided to give this place a try to celebrate Valentines day this past weekend. They did not have the pre fix menu and so we ordered off the ala carte menu. The drinks, food and service was excellent and the rustic and cozy atmosphere added to the experience. We ordered the Korean cauliflower, burrata, chicken and braised short ribs and finished with chocolate dessert. It was all delicious!! Highly recommended!
Amazing food. The bison burger was exquisite! Great service too.
Good service , love the Old Fashioned and kung pao brussel sprouts.
Delicious food, excellent service.
Updated the review after my last visit. Steak wasn t as impressive as before. Crème brûlée was stunning. The guy in the kitchen is he really wearing a mask?? I personally think that masks should be mandatory for restaurants. I heard a lot about this place and decided to give this place a try. Did not disappoint me, at all. The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was excellent (special thanks to Rick). We had the Steak Frites with a side of Caesar. The steak was cooked perfectly and very tasty. The Caesar salad was also excellent. Finished it off with their Vanilla bean cheesecake. Wow. My go to steak restaurant from now on.
Random quick pick to meet a friend and they did not disappoint! A cute hidden place with great service & the food was delicious!! I do recommend to book as it can get busy, we enjoyed sitting by the kitchen.
Busy, upscale-ish eatery with average food and a very pretentious reservation policy (read below) Called a week ahead to reserve a table for 7 and was told they require a credit card to hold the reservation. Was then told that a $25 PER HEAD penalty would be applied if the reservation was cancelled less than 24 hours ahead. I have NEVER encountered such a practice before and find it predatory and not a little pretentious. On with the review Pros: - nice location with good decor - average service speed - good size portions Cons : - slightly overpriced for what you get - very loud when busy making difficult for conversations - food was over salted - ridiculous reservation policy Leaning toward recommending a pass on this experience.
Loved it, great neighborhood restaurant with an upscale menu. Going to return for the Tommyhawk steak. Had the Brussel sprouts & we shared the charcuterie platter, risotto, steak & frittes - all good.
Service was great, plenty of parking outside. For brunch had the hash, and crab cake Bennie, everything was cooked perfectly and super hot when it came out.
Very accommodating, great food. Adding it to our roster of go to restos.
Had a great time here! Food was great, very flavourful and the display was amazing too. Also had the honour of sitting next to the king of lakeshore :D any staff working that day will remember. Thanks!
The waitress had a bit of an attitude, almost sounding annoyed with the questions we asked of her. All of these questions were allergy related, as we had some severe allergies within our dinner party. The food was great, well done to the kitchen staff on this. We also enjoyed our dessert. Would likely order for takeout in the future, with specific instructions.
Fantastic food
This was the first place I went for dinner in Burlington and absolutely LOVEDD it!!! The food was exactlyy what we wanted; a bit pricey however the quantity and delicacy makes up for it! The staff was very attentive and friendly! Great ambience; didnt expect to find this gem in Burlington! Made my experience of this city even better! Would definitely recommend!!
Best food Ive ever had in 20+ years in Burlington. Very large portions, not like the bird portions elsewhere. Huge appetizer. Quite noisy and more of pub atmosphere. We both really enjoyed the food.
Very poor customer service. Treated us terribly from the moment we arrived so we left. They need to seriously work on improving their customer service.
Was a good meal, food tasted good. Just a little on the pricy side for the type of food served but otherwise very good.
The atmosphere was good and our server was nice but it took a long time to get our cocktails once seated and once we got them our appetizers came, I had mentioned that we would like to have our drinks and then order wine to go with our food. Our server said no problem and that the kitchen would do a new app when drinks were done. Once drinks were done and wine was ordered my crab cakes came and were luke warm at best, likely the same ones. I had Steak Frites medium rare, it was very much medium, not tender and the fries were extremely salty. I expected much better for what seemed to be a higher quality restaurant and menu. The Fritto Misto was nice, light and airy. The short ribs were flavourful but 2 of the 3 meals were quite fatty and not much meat. Overall disappointing but will probably give it another try at some point but unlikely to order the same.
Amazing food and ambiance. We sat at the kitchen bar and watched the talented chefs prepare dish after dish of 5 star meals. Must try - we ll be back.
Very first experience at Rust consisting of two couples, the food was to die for and the waitress was good + friendly. But they ran out of appetizers (mussels) also ran out of a main menu item. Our reservation was for 7:30pm and your kitchen is running out of food...not good. We booked the patio and it was windy/cool but they had propane heating and during dinner we asked twice to have them turned on and finally after the third request were they exnited but reluctant to do so. Management know this your rating would have been higher but you failed in Customer Satisfaction.
Braised short rib dish. Needed a bit of salt but over all 9/0. Melted off the bone as it should, drinks were very well made. Great atmosphere.
Fantastic!!
Great, friendly service, yummy food.
Our first time here. I can say that the food was delicious. Specially the main courses. The burger was delicious and so the steak and frites. The hostess and our waiter were polite and courteous. We seated inside and could appreciate the dedication that was put into every plate and how they were examined before leaving the kitchen . I d definitely go back
Super friendly staff, food is top notch and ambiance was lovely.
The food was good. Nothing special or out of the ordinary but still good. They were out of the ribs & steak when we went, which was the main reason we went to this restaurant so that was disappointing. So, Make sure you have something else in mind when you go. the service was also very horrible! The guy that served us barely talked to us, took a very long time just to bring us water (25 minutes to be exact). It was also over an hour wait for our food and there was only 2 of us. This was on a WEDNESDAY night. Not even a very busy dining night. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we didn t end up leaving until 9:20 (not because we were busy talking, the service was just that slow). Thankfully at one point a female server noticed we were waiting forever and actually came over to grab our dessert order and drinks. Otherwise we would probably still be waiting for our server lol. She was lovely. Our server did not check in on us once to see if our meal was okay or to refill our drinks. I also mentioned on our reservation that my friend and I were both celebrating our birthday (as it asked if we were celebrating anything for our visit) and we didn t even get a simple happy birthday . Not sure what the point of asking people their reason for reservation if they won t do anything with that information but oh well lol will probably not return or recommend this place. Sorry.
Everything we had was absolutely delicious!! Wait staff was amazing!
Delicious and the service was great. Highly recommend
Without a doubt, one of the best bistro style restaurants I have ever been to! We started with one of their whimsical cocktails - I had the strawberry elderflower Collins, and it was refreshing and a great start. Our table shared a charcuterie plank with meat and cheese, and the 4 person offering was just right for our 5 person party. Then, our mains arrived. The short ribs were braIsed to succulent perfection, no knife required, and served with chili garlic broccolini and whipped potatoes. The Kung Pao Brussels sprouts were caramelized delightfully and had a nice bite from the chili peppers. We did not have dessert, mostly because we needed a walk after all of the fantastic food ! I cant wait to go back and try something else the next time we are in Burlington. Bravo!
Phenomenal food. I m so sad we didn t discover this place earlier! Most definitely the best food in Burlington! Servers are equally as awesome!!
Enjoyed a great burger a must to try.
We spent $144.00 before tip on two appetisers, two entrees and one side dish. NO alcohol , no desert. the Beef Carpaccio was nice but heavy on the mustard. The muscles were lukewarm, and I had to ask for the bread that was supposed to accompany the dish. Cod was slightly over cooked but flavourful. Brussel sprouts were tasty but lacked in pork belly. However I do NOT recommend the Risotto. It was rather bland, with three VERY small, overcooked scallops for $36.00. Totally not what the website depicted! The ambiance with open concept kitchen is visually distracting, watching things being scooped out of plastic tubs etc. Although no desert was had, the fatty mirror on the way out made you very glad you didnt have one! Unfortunately a one and done experience for us.
AMAZING place
Paige was very friendly and went through the menu including the drinks. The food was very good, we would go back again.
A friend was visiting and we decided to try the bistro. We had the risotto which was well done and flavourful. The cocktails were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. The next visit we will definitely come back.
Unfortunately we went to eat the Tomahook steak but they dont serve it on Sunday, I give the 4 stars for the staff worm Wellcome and their help to make my order possible. Ill try to do it next time and give my rate for the food as well
Really bold flavours everywhere you look on this menu. If your tastes lean towards overwhelming numbers of constituent flavours or textures, Rust has you covered. Strangely they are able to balance all the differences without any one component taking over. They may take turns on center stage but you do end up meeting every single one of them.
A good neighborhood bistro, great for what it is! Very friendly and efficient service and nice ambiance. The food was good overall. The crostini appetizer was excellent. I loved that they had vegan and vegetarian options.
It take so long too get food I hate this place no wifi it s bad!
We had great food and great service. Definitely recommend it. We will be back soon. Special thanks to Evan he was excellent, kind and very helpful. Thank you Evan you are the best.
The bison and boar burger was amazing.
I had a steak here that was flavored as if it was made by an angelic Chef Quite simply the best steak i ve had in recent memory. The service was amazing and the whole atmosphere was very professional. The chef s in there really know what they are doing!
Great food. Nice ambience.
A very nicely decorated, venture into Burlingtons best. After having tried many of Burlingtons top spots, we tried Rust and believe it to easily be the best of what Burlington has to offer. The Korean cauliflower was incredible. Wife loved the seafood risotto and my short rib was good, but not incredible. The Broccolini with the short rib were undercooked and under seasoned, while parts of the short rib were charred. The ambiance and staff were lovely. Well return for the cauliflower alone and I look forward to trying another option.
Food service is okay but overpriced
Great food and drinks. Cocktails to die for and the cheesecake will have you not ever skipping desert
Awesome experience. Great food. Nice portions
Awesome place
Food and service was great. A little over priced.
This place is amazing food and service are spectacular. Definitely the best restaurant in Burlington.
Underwhelming experience. Cauliflower starter was very overpriced and under seasoned. Steak frites were decent, fries were served lukewarm and very greasy. Steak was cooked well. When asked for suggestions on cocktails, server did not provide any alternatives to what was on the menu. Cocktail listing was limited. Also for a Friday night the staff was overworked and felt very rushed. I spent $120 with tip on 2 cocktails a starter and a main. Very generic spot, middle of Burlington. Crowd is generic as well.
The service and drinks were good but the food was soggy, eggs over cooked. Wouldn t come back
Exceptional service and they were busy! The food was mouth watering delicious. Excellent portions! Steak and Frites - wow! Burgers - superb! Beef rib - fall off the bone delicious! Best kept secret and leave room for dessert!
Awesome place to have dinner with friends. Not cheap but well worth it.
Friendly service and good standard bistro fare. I enjoyed the burrata, steak frites, and cocktail on the patio with friends. Looking forward to returning.
Order the Cabernet braised beef ribs . OMG! Its Chef Lukes own recipe. The sauce was heavenly...the amount of reduction and time to make one that good is substantial. Nicole, our server was very attentive and friendly. Since we sat at the kitchen bar we were able to interact with the cooking staff who were friendly and answered our many questions.
Great decor and vibe! And the food is amazing!! Plus the service was stellar (thanks Jonni!!). Looking forward to our next visit!
One of the best dining experiences we ve ever had. Nicole, our server was attentive, kind and helpful. We sat at the kitchen bar and Mike, Mark and Luke gave new meaning to personable kitchen staff. We love them! The food is delicious- large portions and great quality and the drinks were amazing and unique too. We will be back asap. Thank you for the great experience.
One of the best restaurants Ive been to in a long long time. The cheesecake is the best Ive ever had. Amazing cocktails. The fillet mignon is beautifully cooked. Wonderful service. I will come here over and over now that Ive found it. Thank you Rust family for helping make my husbands birthday amazing.
Amazing food and drinks and Johnny was awesome!!!!
We were party of 9 Everything was amazing the atmosphere, service, food Definitely coming again
Great food and service
Went there last night as a recommendation from some locals. Honestly for the price, we were still hungry after. The food was good, but the total came to 145 for 2 people. This was 2 entrees, one appetizer, two beers and a Diet Coke. The portions were small for their price, and the menu didn t allow for much modifications for people who didn t want to eat the meals they were. I wanted to like this place, but I can t justify the cost.
Please people do not miss out! just go do yourself a favor and a enjoy. Literally blew my taste buds away. Rust just definitely made a repeat customer and cant wait to try more on the ridiculously exciting mouth watering menu. My date and I were amazing with flavor and the service was impeccable...
First time being here, gotta say we enjoyed our evening. Had a negroni to start off, both enjoyed our cocktails. Then started with the carpaccio, and Crostone. We then split the wild boar Ragu. We loved everything but felt there was something missing in each dish, was all made and presented beautifully, but needed a little more pop in flavour. Food also took a while to come out even with only a couple of tables in the restaurant. Service was great, you can tell it s a team effort. Overall happy with our experience and will definitely be back.
Really great food, service was good but a bit slow. I find it a bit loud but the decor and atmospher are really good.
Brunch was delicious. Nice restaurant and atmosphere.
Many many thanks to Tha amazing ing team. We had a surprise celebration today and it went flawlessly. The food beyond words spectacular and the caring staff were pleasant and very efficient. Thank you Vegetarian options: Options available Dietary restrictions: Many choices available Parking: Plenty available Kid-friendliness: My grandson l9ved the pancakes!!!!! Wheelchair accessibility: We had one guest who was graciously accommodated without hesitation
The staff here were very welcoming. We added extra people to out party last minute which we thought would be an issue but they made it happen! Greatest highlight of the night was the Tomahawk Steak. Unbelievable and perfectly cooked. The side of Brussles too...wow! Definitely will be back and thank you again to the servers and kitchen!
Food is never disappointing- would highly recommend; especially the Sunday brunch!
