181 Battery St, Burlington, VT 05401, United States
Old-fashioned seafood place & raw bar offering classic surf 'n' turf & views of Lake Champlain.
I came looking for a lobster roll, and boy did I find a great one. I also got the clam chowder and it was very good. The waitress convinced me to get a key lime pie(my favorite). I got a fiddlesticks beer and it was and enjoyable time being there.
Context: Canadian resident traveling to the US for the first time. I arrived in Burlington by greyhound for a day out and was starving by the time I finished walking around and taking the boat ride nearby. I was greeted promptly at the restaurant and escorted to an outdoor table, as per my preference. The ambience at the place is great with a fair amount of tastefully done sailor decor all around. The restrooms are a flight up for those that have considerations. If they have a ttain passing by the place, the outside patrons may be subject to a really loud horn. My ears were left ringing for a minute. I ordered a plate of fish n chips like I do everywhere I go, along with a glass of ginger beer. The fish was fresh and succulent with the perfect amount of crisp. The tartar sauce was great and so was the coleslaw. I asked them to go easy on the chips (fries) and got a smaller portion. These were good as well. The service was great and the hosts were super friendly although curiously the person who was serving me asked twice if I was done when clearly I wasn't even half finished and even got the check before I asked. I'm not sure if this is how it works this side of the border but thought it was strange. I left a good tip but did have to check with the server on this as it differs slightly from Canada. Overall a good first experience dining in the US!
This is the go to restaurant in Burlington for great seafood. The view of Lake Champlain is worth it alone. Great bar great drinks best service. Outside eating available. Great job Shanty
What can I say about Shanty On The Shore... as soon as I walked in I was greeted and seated within a minute. Everyone from the greeter, to host to server was wonderful. The seafood here was not only fresh but DELICIOUS! The oyster was definitely on the sweeter side and was paired perfectly with the cocktail sauce. The lobster was oh so sweet and perfectly prepared. The ambiance was simply breath taking. Props to everyone at Shantys. I will be returning!
I had a cup of tasty clam chowder, the delicious fish & chips, & yummy cranberry mule mocktail (I was driving). My server was also excellent & I wish I remembered her name because I’d give her a s/o! If I were here longer this would easily become a regular place for me! I am from OR, currently working in ME, & in Burlington for a work training trip. Thank you for a perfect experience!
Second time visiting. Everything is still great. It was a little crowded but we just waited like 15 minutes. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. Recommended 💯
Delicious food, amazing service, and beautiful views…highly recommend eating your next dinner here. We all got something different and everything was super yummy. I can’t eat seafood, so I got the filet. Delicious, tender, savory, everything you expect. The wife got the seafood platter and was not disappointed, nor could she finish it all. Our usually picky kids were actually quiet during dinner because they were too busy stuffing their faces…loved it…great times and fond memories. Thank you Shanty on the Shore, keep it up!!!!
Lydia was lovely and warm. We had a cup of the Lobster Bisque - nice & creamy. Husband had the Honey Maple Glazed Salmon - said it was a good piece of fish, but wished it could have been more "marinated" but glaze seemed to have been added after. Veggies were yum! Fish & chips was cooked perfectly. The haddock was delicious and the panko crust just right! Thank you!
The shanty is Always a Fantastic place to go!
Food was good. Had the mussels and the lobster roll. Service was great, and excellent views of the lake.
Lobster roll and crispy chicken sandwich were delicious. Great view on the terrasse.
Wonderful food with a lake view! Particularly great fish & chips and fish tacos. Stopped in during a trip for lunch and its as great as ever.
Food is bland and clearly rushed. They have young kids frantically shucking shellfish with minimal sanitation. Server was nice but visibly stressed out. Much better off at Spot on the Dock in my opinion. To quote a previous review, the place is definitely resting on their laurels from a time long past. I normally don t leave reviews but this was an exceptional experience.
The portion of the Lobster Roll seemed like it was for children and to top it off, it was very expensive, the drinks were a Lemonade berries that only tasted like water, the place was a big disappointment, I would not return, nor do I recommend it either
Fried chicken sandwich was delicious
Stopped here for lunch on our way home to New Jersey. Our server Kristina was a total gem. Loved her. We had the calamari app, the clam strips, and the salmon BLT special. Everything thing was just wonderful. Glad we chose Shanty to eat at.
Clam chowder had lumps of thickner in it. Not good flavor, hardly any clams. Chicken wings were not hot, barely warm. Food
As a lover of New England seafood, I always order the fishermans platter when Im out here. This one was really good! It had a giant piece of fish, clams and shrimp. The breading was different than Im used to out here, wasnt sold on that. The view off the deck was spectacular. Good drinks, but it took awhile to get them. Ill go back.
Best place ever
Food was good, nice outside dining area. Service slow but nice.
Nice place for casual meal overlooking lake Champlain. Very good service and friendly staff. Food was fresh!
Best lobster roll in Burlington VT
Watery Caesars dressing. Bland chowder. Nice view bad food
Nice view if you can get a front row table, good food, great service
The food was great. The location on the shore of Lake Champlain was excellent.
The food was good. However, we noticed that we were the only table being served with white chipped cups for soup. All other tables were served with nice brown jars. Our kids milk drinks were served in Coke disposable cups. I didnt realize this until we have paid and walked out. Therefore we dont have pictures for the cups, but wanted to leave a review for this.
Shanty on the Shore is a fantastic and affordable spot with beautiful views of Lake Champlain. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and decided to stop by for lunch. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Afterward, we took a lovely walk, soaking in the stunning views of Lake Champlain. Apologies for no food pictures I couldnt wait to dig in because it was just that good!
Food was good, sat next to a group that were too loud with politics
My favorite restaurant in Burlington VT. Have been going there when visiting for over 30 years. You cant get whole belly clams in New York. They also have escargot.
three of is had lobster rolls with fries. each of the bread rolls were very burned.
My lobster roll was great! The waitress was very sweet.
I got shrimp scampi it was delicious. My husband got scallops. Service was good and the weather happened to be nice . Food : 5/5
Didnt get waited on after I was seated for 10 minutes. Just felt like it was a place for African Americans so I got up and left. Fyi: they werent busy.
Fried chicken sandwich was pretty good not the best I ve had and the shrimp scampi was pretty solid.
Great food, excellent service provided by our server Ashly!
Great seafood. Good service and nice view of the lake.
Great food.. Beautiful. View
What a find! Some locals recommended this restaurant to us after the sunset cruise and we were absolutely delighted. Very tasty food (we had the broiled fish platter for two), lovely atmosphere outside and excellent service. Highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Very good and fresh vegetables
Had a delicious meal with excellent service! Cant wait to return. Had escargot & mussels! Wonderful
Food was great, waitress very nice and service was good
No doubt the worst restaurant ive been, in terms of food and service as well. Mind you that me and my family are the complete opposite of picky eaters, and the food we got served manage to ruin our whole day, it was THAT bad, and way too expensive. Avoid this place !
The good first. Unbeatable view and they allow small dogs on the patio. The food is extra mediocre. Caesar salad has Italian dressing, not caesar; baked potato undercooked; not sure the Mac and cheese contains cheese (macaroni pasta with a seafood and milk based sauce; haddock, fine; and escargot and fries frozen. The waitress was well intentioned, but overstretched and so service lacked. Place is definitely resting on their laurels from a time long past, or perhaps just assuming folks will come thanks to the view (which is likely correct). They should really take an inward look on their food though and make an effort to improve.
Our server was in training, but she handled our large group very well. Each person enjoyed their food. Though the steak frites plate was overcooked, the flavor was good. The chocolate mousse pie was absolutely divine - split between a table of seven.
Watched the sunset over a fabulous Cosmo, then ate fantastically fresh seafood. Superb waitress
Had the lobster roll and just expected a little more. It was good with plenty of meat, roll was toasted well. Fries were top notch.. Oysters were suberb
Delicious food and nice & attentive staff! Fresh variety of oysters, the fish n chips was amazing so was the lobster roll sandwich! Food
Very good service and excellent food. New York cheese pie, excellent.
Had a high priced bloody mary that had 3 good shrimp with poor mixer and light on alcohol. My wife had the worst clam Chowder which consisted of heavy cream and 2 minced pcs of class. Baked haddock was good but service was super slow and waitress did not want to return wrong drink she brought!! Dogs on deck not enticing.
Lobster bisque was really good but the fried shrimp and scallops were rather mediocre. The fish tacos were mostly coleslaw. First time visiting and wouldn t bother coming back.
Food was amazing unfortunately we did not enjoy it since it was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. They should have AC especially on those humid days. We had no choice but to eat our food in a rush instead of enjoying it!
I had salmon and my husband had steak. Both were cooked to perfection!! By far the best dinner we have had in a long time!!
The seafood platter with breadcrumbs was super dry, I couldn t taste the seafood flavor at all. The salmon was drowning with maple syrup It was very disappointed and the server couldn t do anything about the food. They didn t offer any complementary and the kitchen staffs just insisted the food was good. . You pay the meal for the view!
Delicious food with easy parking and a great view of the lake! Dietary restrictions: Easily accommodated a severe gluten allergy with no issues. Food : 5/5 |
Broiled seafood platter was over covered with bread crumbs. Chowder had no clams. Comfortable atmosphere.
We are regulars at Shantys. Love the food, we come every summer! We had the BEST server, so attentive, so kind and great at communicating with our table. We came back two weeks later and asked to be sat in Ians section and he was unfortunately no longer working there. He was the BEST server we had this year. Hope he comes back. The 5 stars in this review was for our server and host. Both were great. The food quality has slightly declined this past summer, but nonetheless, service we had was great.
Great place
On water of Lake Champlain in Burlington. Newly remodeled patio .great food, service, & ambience. A+
Quick stop for apps and a drink. Service was great
Church mission trip.stopped and NOTHING negative to say. Best escargot, and lobster bisque I have had ANY where! By far the best service and these ladies worked their butt off! Up and down the stairs, big smile, never any negative look, and they completed the great dining experience! Truly a place to return to eat and enjoy it ALL!!
I usually do not review businesses. I am making an exception. My wife ,my daughter and I just had dinner at Shanty on the Shore. The food was surprisingly bad (relative to the reviews AND their website. ) The Bahama Mama cocktail was weak enough to confuse with a mocktail. My broiled seafood platter ( advertised breadcrumbs on the menu) was just that. A huge amount of dry to slightly mushy breadcrumbs, about a half of a cup appeared to have been dumped over the seafood after it came out of the broiler, obviously without a hint of butter or any traditional seafood seasonings. . Not at all a broiled seafood dinner. Very bland haddock shrimp and scallops that reflect a complete lack of understanding of how to prepare seafood. I know good seafood and unfortunately, this was not. Seven or eight young people (the waitstaff) were milling around as we were seated. Our server, polite cheerful and well mannered, had no info with her on the daily specials. Its a cumulative experience that was a disappointment. On the positive side we were promptly reseated inside because of the extreme heat from the afternoon sun. But we wont be returning for another meal while in the area.
Another outstanding meal at the Shanty. The fish tacos are REALLY good and our server Madeleine was super nice and attentive. The view from the deck is amazing Thanks to everyone at the Shanty
Absolutely gorgeous place, food is excellent, and the view is gorgeous!
Really great well done food with generous portions. The oysters were so good - flavourful and a good size.
Even though food was tasty it was definitely overpriced. And then while cleaning up the server spilled leftover clam ice all over my friends purse and barely tried to clean it up. Disappointed.
The Restaurant was very beautiful inside with a wrap around deck overlooking the bay. The food was tasty and the service was impressive Parking: The Restaurant parking lot was equipped with handicap spaces. Parking lot was smooth. Wheelchair accessibility: I was able to use the sidewalk ramp with large door opening Very easy with a clean handicap restroom.
Got sat directly in sun and told we couldn t move. Food was horrible. Seems like the owner is trying to cut costs as much a possible resulting in disgusting food. Manager never approached even after finding a hair in the middle of the sandwich. Overall major disappointment and will never visit again or recommend. Service was great though very sweet server but seems like a bad establishment to work for.
We use to eat there more often, but our favourite dishes are not longer available. The key lime pie was amazing.
Food was okay. Just so you know, this SEAFOOD restaurant charges $1 for Tartar sauce.
My favorite place to eat! Delicious food, good sunset martini, very nice staff and a beautiful view.
Absolutely first class service, food, and beautiful atmosphere. We were there on a mission trip from Ga. The staff was beautiful, friendly, hot working, and honest with their suggestions. Their escargot was one of the best I have had anywhere, as well as the lobster bisque! There was No complaints from the entire group. Each enjoyed top fresh, tasty meals .
Service was good but food is just expensive fried fish without taste really disappointed about the food for the price we paid (85+tx+tips for 2 people) We usually go to spot on the dock . We wanted to give it a try but we won t go here again. Food
Couldnt have asked for better seafood!!!
Fresh seafood
Great service, food, and view of the lake, and both outdoor and indoor seating.
Great deck. Way overpriced! The food is decent but nothing to write home about. The Maple Salmon was the only thing exceptional. Cocktails were overly sweet. The service is not good, a lot of young, inexperienced servers who don t know how to serve, out of step with the high prices of the food. The whole place stinks like bad sea food. Do they not clean? Fried fish tacos (yuck!). Seafood restaurants should not smell like the bottom of a lake if the food is stored and served properly.
Im glad we didnt listen to the reviews! Our food was excellent! The staff was great! I highly recommend this restaurant. My husband had steak and I had the broiled fishermans platter.
The Shanty has been a family fave for many years... and for good reason. Excellent food and awesome views of lake Champlain. Service is also consistently top shelf!
It was wonderful. Clean and efficient
The service was mediocre. The lobster was ok(something every lobster place should have perfect) don t get the snails it s minimal portions and it doesn t taste good. Atmosphere was ok we went here right after the eclipse. Overall not satisfied with this place. Would not go again even if it was free
A very nice experience great patio views of Lake Champlain. My broiled haddock with veg and baked potato side was delicious. My partners haddock tacos were delicious; however, the toppings made the tacos soggy, so she had to eat it with knife and fork.
It was OK. Lobster was a bot tough chewy. Lobster bisq was ok tasted good but not your traditional bisque was not smooth.
Excellent.
Awful food the fish was beyond awful worst fish tacos I ve ever had. Fries Cold and just not with it! You need to up your game yes view is ok. Overpriced and not worth it.
Parking: AMAZING food. Beautiful view of the lake. Very expensive. Filthy bathroom. Rude hostess (girl who stands at a podium across from the front door). Rude waitress. Parking is difficult, take an Uber instead of driving.
Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly Food
Just reviewing the clam chowder but its solid for the area.
The most disappointing $20 grilled chicken sandwich Ive ever seen. The chicken breast was 1/4 the size of the bun, with two tiny strips of bacon. And it took an hour to arrive at our table. Our server Molly was great however. Love this spot, but its gonna be a while before we go back. Bummer.
We ate on the deck overlooking the lake, with a beautiful view. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was great. Would definitely go back.
Great view of the bay. The food was great! Try the lobster bisque or the clam chowder. Very rich, but very good!
Great food with a fantastic view of the lake.
Vegetarian options: salads Wheelchair accessibility: have a ramp a little crowded inside but still accessible Food : 5/5 |
Great ppace for sea-food. Staff is kind and Knowledgeable. Staff willing to talk and answer any questions. Good Atmosphere. Can sit both inside outside Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp to get to main Walkway good spacing.
I really wanted to try the lobster roll, so I ordered it because it was on the menu! Originally, the lobster I ate was tough, but this one The lobster roll was very soft! The price is market price, so it varies from time to time, but I paid $30 more for it. When asked if I would eat it again, I said no, just one time. It was a great experience! If the day had been less cold, I think we would have eaten outside. The view was nice, the staff were friendly, and the bathroom was clean! Kid-friendliness: Tighten it. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a private entrance
You cant have a better view. Delicious food.
Ordered 2 salmon dinners to go and I paid $60 for small portion sizes 4-6oz of salmon which was cold and dry and a few pieces of asparagus that were over cooked and soggy 3 stars is what you can expect from The Shanty on the shore!
Another stop while here. Ive never had scallops, so I inquired if I could try it to decide. Spoke with Al, not certain if hes the owner or manager, explained what i was looking to do. He said dont move a few minutes later got me a sample to try. It was very good so I decided on the fried shrimp and scallops. The dish was good, and our server was amazing as well. Nice place with a good view.
Went for a celebration after buying a new van. Had a HUMUNGOUS plate of Fried haddock, clams and shrimp, along with gold fries, and a great salad. My friend says it was the best fried fish hes ever had, and hes a fried fish fanatic. Great view from the upper seating section, even with the mist and rain. I will DEF be returning!!
Location is fantastic. Food was very good. Service was very friendly and professional. Not super fancy but perfect for what we were looking for.
Great view. Very good mussels. Fries nice and crispy. Thats all I had. But 5 stars. Would return.
Food wasnt seasoned and took forever to come out. We were the only people in the restaurant.
Food is tasty, but a bit expensive. What I didnt like was that I got a dirty glass.
Really good food. Chowder is the best in town. In my opinion, of course.
A little pricey but over all a good experience.
This place is awesome and wonderful customer service. The waitress was awesome and quick with the drinks. She had great picks for food. I had the tacos and she had the steak.
Great place to eat, very busy and the atmosphere was great. The service was very good
Food was great, wait staff was quick witted and awesome! Would return!
Amazing food. Our server was so good!
Awful. Waited 1 hour for a table that we never got. We had to walk out after waiting that long and we went somewhere else. I called before hand as well. There were so many empty tables. Everyones running around and no one knows whats going on. I understand maybe they were short staffed but I will never be going there again
Bar tender was god awful. Couldnt make a drink to save her life. Idk what was going on. Couldnt hardly hear her and she brought out food we didnt order.
Such a lovely dinner! The view was amazing, the maple ginger salmon was so delicious and the service was super friendly. Highly recommend!
Got whole belly clams for lunch and were outstanding . I have had clams all over Maine and Massachusetts and these held up to these other areas known for good clams. I am rather particular about clams and seafood. Bonus fries were good and cole slaw too The Shanty inside looks like a nice atmosphere after being renovated. It was previously rather dated inside. So I will be returning for inside dining soon!
Nice views of the lake but the oysters and clams from the raw bar were not good.
We had our first meal here as an engaged couple! Our server did a phenomenal job and made our special evening even more special with how kind she was. In fact everyone in the restaurant was so incredibly kind and helped us celebrate our engagement, which made the entire experience at Shanty on the Shore shine like the diamonds on my fiancées ring. We had the lobster (lazy man style) with the mac and cheese, clam chowder, and Wild Maine and PEI oysters which were all amazing. The view of Lake Champlain was breathtaking, the food was spectacular, and being able to enjoy the whole experience with my fiancée made this the best experience ever. They also gave us a piece of the key lime pie on the house as a congratulations on our engagement. Honestly, if you are in Burlington and you dont have a meal here, you have done yourself a great disservice. This place is 10/10.
Amazing seafood! Love this place!
Great lobster rolls!
Visited Burlington for a day trip & stopped here. The food is so fantastic that I plan to visit yearly - Ive already put my next visit in my itinerary!
Very good food and clean environment.
The Maple Manhatten specials were divine. The lobster bisque in the bread bowl was excellent. The only thing missing were anchovies on the Cesaer salad (neglected to ask). Service was friendly and timely. A great respite after a tough day in court.
Food was tasty and seasoned well!
I had a delightful dining experience, starting with the calamari as an appetizer And followed by the lobster roll accompanied by curly fries. The dishes were both fresh and delicious. We chose to sit outdoors to savor a picturesque lakeside view. The staffs friendliness added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Great spot overlooking the lake. Food was fine (nothing bad), but also nothing particularly noteworthy. Service was attentive but not overly so. Wheelchair accessibility: bathrooms are upstairs
This place had it all! Fried clams, with the bellies! Awesome chowder, and the lobster was succulent and to die for! The service was fantastic and the view was terrific!
Shanty on the shore has a great location right in front of the marina in Burlington. They have a very nice patio as well. I went around 5pm and sat at the bar inside and had the lobster roll. It was $30 and came with fries. I also got a Labatt Blue on draft. Personally, I think this is too expensive. The sandwich consisted of texas toast as the bun, green leaf lettuce, tomato, parsley and lobster. There may have also been some kind of aioli on there, I cant remember. It came with a lemon and pickle as well. Although the lobster seemed fresh, it didnt have a whole lot of flavor. Or maybe its that it was overwhelmed by too much lettuce and bread. My fries were mostly stale, or had been sitting too long in the kitchen. Id give this place a second try, but might not order the lobster roll again. It wasnt worth $30. I would say if youre in town, Id still try the place if you want some seafood. The staff was friendly. With 1 beer and the lobster roll entree, after a 20% tip, its over $48. Parking: They have a very small parking lot.
Food was really great and the service was amazing. We came in last minute with a large party and they were able to move some things around and sit us very quickly. We had an issue with the table next to us and the staff was so supportive and kind. I can t wait to go back
Maple glazed salmon over rice was very good, but $7.00 upcharge for vegetables. No dinner roles. Broiled seafood platter loaded with bread crumbs made dish dry, shrimp over done. Dish came with summer vegetables, again upcharge for rice $7.00).
At $3.50 an oyster they should be fresh and shucked properly. Soup was excellent, clam strips were terrible, didnt seem to be fresh, tasted and looked like Sysco delivery. Mussels were small and overcooked. Definitely not $142 meal. Will not be back.
Great place. Wonderful view of Lake Champlain .Prompt server.
Food wasnt as amazing as I would have liked. Bit on the pricey side. The fries were my favorite part of my meal. Parking: Plenty of parking out back.
Visitor here! Shanty had such a beautiful view from the outside seating area. We ordered the oysters for appetizers and oh my lord. I don t have to say anything but ORDER IT! The food was delicious and the service was great. 10/10 recommend!
The worst seafood we ever had, we went for the view but we didn t expected the food to be that bad.
We received a great service!
The best sea food in town, great views of the Champlain lake
Service was great, fun place, great view. We ordered 2 lobster bisque and seems received clam chowders (see pic) (the waitress said it was the cream that made it white...). In all a good place, but food is just ok.
This restaurant has a beautiful deck overlooking the water. Service is friendly and competent. The food looks delicious but everything we had was severely underseasoned. The shrimp on the bloody Mary seemed to be boiled in unseasoned water and had zero flavor. The breading on everything deep fried had no flavor. The fries underneath hadnt even been salted. They also were the very bottom of the bag it seemed. Curly fries should have a piece bigger than 1 long There are good beer and cocktail options and the view is great. Maybe just stick to an appetizer and some cocktails and grab dinner elsewhere.
A nice, relaxed seafood restaurant on the lakeshore. I had the Captains platter - haddock, shrimp, and clam strips on a bed of fries. It was huge! Way more than I could eat. I really enjoyed the clam and shrimp; the haddock was full of flavor though a little on the dry side. The coleslaw is also fantastic. The drinks are balanced - decent pour and full of flavor. I recommend the house margarita. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, though the front door is quite heavy.
Always a pleasure to eat at this restaurant
Okay, for starters, Im a connnoisseur of fish and chips. I order them anytime I see them on a menu. Thats being said, the fish and chips here are by far the best Ive ever had. My wife ordered the ahi tuna salad, also amazing. The New England Clam Chowder was amazing. We ate outside and the view couldnt be beat. To make our evening perfect, Kathryn was our server. You should be so lucky to get her as your server!
Service was good and the view is great but the food was bland. Being a midwesterner I don t have terribly high standards for seafood but this did not meet expectations.
Sitting on the deck outside is the best place to enjoy a great meal!
Ordered the lobster bisque. It was flavorful, but on the watery side with a small amount of lobster. The salmon while it was tasty, it was more or less dry. But the maple syrup drizzled on top is what gave the salmon most of its flavor. The ambiance was great being over the water and the waitstaff very attentive. Overall it was ok, not sure I would go back, not that it was bad.
This place was wonderful
Nice
No flavor to anything and overpriced. You shouldnt sell seafood at market price that is clearly frozen. The tartar sauce that was served, had been sitting out at room temperature for so long, it had gone clear. The MP whole belly clams came out mixed with clam strips and clearly not cooked to order and served over soggy cold fries. They actually had the audacity to serve an Oyster in a shell smaller than a quarter... And still charge 3.50 for it. Long John silvers would be a better option.
I recommend this restaurant. Food and drinks were on point!! Ill be back some day!
Our B and B recommended but we were disappointed in the inattentive service, good was mediocre. Would not recommend
Food was decent and loved their outside deck!
The food was excellent. They were busy, and we were surprised at how fast we were seated and the food was served. (They do recommend reservations, but we didnt have any.) The only downfall was that the waitress didnt refill our glasses until we asked, even though both glasses were completely empty.
Food and service were good. Price was also reasonable
Delicious fish & chips with a pretty view of Lake Champlain. I am a Cape Cod seafood fan, and this was a good find!
Abigail was our server and she was fantastic! The good was excellent and the service superb. Top notch all around. One had the broiled seafood platter, the other a lobster roll with mac instead of fries. We also shared a brownie dessert which was terrific.
Wonderful restaurant! We visited twice during our time in Vermont. Delicious fish and chips! Friendly service and the view of Lake Champlain was awesome, too.
The food was OK, but it felt like you were eating at the red lobster in the 70s. Nothing great that would make me go back.
I grew up on Cape Cod so the food by those standards would not have been top tier but the fact that theres an option in Burlington to get seafood at all is such a luxury. We got the lobster roll, the fish and chips and the Caesar salad and the whole belly clams. Everything was good except for the clams which were a lot of money for a small portion and they werent the best Ive had. The lobster roll was great but on the smaller side and came with an insane amount of French fries as did the fish and chips. It felt like a give them a ton of fries because they are cheap and they will have the illusion they had a bigger meal than they did kind of vibe. All in all, Im happy theres at least on decent seafood place nearby. Although I probably would t eat here often - maybe once a year or every other year at best.
It was my first time visiting New England so I wanted to try a lobster roll, and theirs was amazing!! I was seated near the window with a great view of Lale Champlain. It was the perfect afternoon delight! Parking: Parking is for patrons only!
Great place for our group.
My family and I recently had a wonderful meal here! The food was delicious and affordable and our server Vanessa took great care of us! We had the salmon, fish tacos, shrimp scampi, clam chowder and the mac and cheese and it was all great!
The hostess was so friendly. He was helpful and accommodating. He shared stories about the restaurant as well which added to the ambience! The views are so beautiful from upstairs sitting area. It was too cold for us to sit comfortably outside so sitting upstairs was amazing. We watched the sunlight dappling on the fall leaves on the mountains and shimmering on the lake water. Watching as boats and ferries cruised along. We ordered the maple ginger salmon with seasonal vegetables( squash) and we were very pleased with our selection! The salmon was cooked properly and had a wonderful glaze that had caramelized beautifully. The squash was fresh and yummy. Our waitress was attentive. Unfortunately there was a delay in our wine bottle order as they didn t have a bartender. Overall we had a great visit here and look forward to our next visit.
Beautiful location overlooking Lake Champlain. If I would have known how good the Buffalo shrimp was, I would have made a meal out of it, but the maple glazed salmon was very good and highly recommended. The service was professional and we were formally greeted and seated at our choice at the top of the stairs for a great view.
Impressive portion size on the mussels and excellent oysters!
The food was ok Had the clam chowder and wouldnt really recommend it. I had the fried Shrimp and scallops. They were ok too. Service was VERY VERY SLOW.
Very happy! Good food and a good view!
Quality has declined quite a bit. Clam chowder was potato soup, no taste, fish overcooked. Been going there over 10 years but last 2 visits were disappointing. Not worth it anymore.
Not worth it if youre working and need a take out meal. The atmosphere and views at the restaurant must make up for the lack of sides that should accompany a Maple Salmon dish. For $30, the salmon was well cooked and flavorful, but the rice was just soaked in the sauce. Some string beans or veggies would go well. Food
Enjoyed our meal at Shanty s tonight. The bisque, chowder and PEI mussels were great. Lobster roll, broiled fish and whole belly clams excellent. Service was professional and attentive. Scenery beautiful. So glad we chose this for dinner with our UVM grandson. Thanks for making it memorable, we ll be back!
Great location. Really good food. Make sure and try the clam chowder. Excellent lobster roll.
We waited at the bar for about 25 minutes before being seated as this is a very popular spot on a Thursday evening! The servers were all very attentive and professional, while the menu was varied and delicious. The ambiance is one of casual comfort while enjoying good seafood. The view of the lake is spectacular!
Good seafood.
Very good and wasn t very expensive. Has a parking lot and a great view
Best food ever I had a wonderful dinner with my son and grandson and daughter and law and mom great food and big portion s and friendly service
The food was so delicious! The Best clam chowder, fish tacos and French fries!!! Parking: Beautiful water view
Amazing place to get some great seafood! The views were phenomenal of the lake while eating too!
Theyre buffalo shrimp was very good surprisingly, didnt think that that combination was a thing. And the maple salmon is amazing.
Lobster bisque is killer! As a local of Northshore MA, I know a good bisque and this one blows it out of the water. The service is fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and so sweet. Definitely check out this place on your Burlington trip!
Went to dinner here, was an amazing little place. Food was fresh and delicious. The Dessert (Key Lime Pie) was to die for. Would highly recommend if your passing through or spending the night and looking for an amazing dinner.
