10 Church St, Burlington, VT 05401, United States
Burlington's best Prime Steakhouse in the Historic District of downtown Burlington, VT
The restaurant has a classy atmosphere, very clean, and the service is great! All the food tasted very fresh, the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We really enjoy our meal here and will definitely be coming back!
Our go-to place in Vermont! The ambiance, staff and food of E.B. Strong is second to none. We have been coming here many years and it’s the first restaurant we hit up when we come back to Vermont for the summer. The staff is exceptional…so many of them have worked here many years because it’s just that great of a place. The owners (Tim and Kristen) are super approachable and when not hustling to help out, they converse with patrons. The bar is our favorite but if it’s packed, the dining tables offer enough privacy to have conversations or romantic dinners. And last, the food is amazing. We wouldn’t go anywhere else when in the mood for a steak. Don’t like beef? Try the scallops, lamb or anything else. You won’t be disappointed! Our son is a chef and this is a must-go when he and his wife visit.
Great staff! Perfect ambience for a steakhouse. Ordered a rare filet mignon and received it medium. A good portion, but not tender or buttery. The outter part of the cut was a bit rough and dry, thankfully the sauce and mash potatoes were delightful enough to balance out the plate. Vermont Cheese plate, steak tartar and calamari appetizers were good, better than the main meal.
The first place we ate in Burlington - wanted to love it, but it fell flat. The food was not great (the escargot was prepared differently… which is fine except it wasn’t that warm and a bit chewy), and the shrimp cocktail was fine. The ahi tuna salad had huge chunks of tuna with a sort of smoky preparation I wasn’t expecting, and no real flavor otherwise. Even the wantons they served it with tasted more like pita chips and lacked any salt or flavor other than oil. The best thing we had was the complimentary bread and butter, which was delicious. The mashed potatoes were good too. Overall, it was quite loud (we were seated next to a large party) and expensive for what it was.
This is a nice steakhouse in the middle of Chruch St. My family shared calamari and mussels for an appetizer - both were delicious, the mussels were amazing. I had a boneless ribeye for the main course, it was tasty and cooked well. Beware that sides are not included with your $60 steak. One complaint was the very slow kitchen service - it took about an hour and a half between us sitting and getting the main course. The server was apologetic. I was debating between 3 and 4 stars but decided to round up. Happy holidays
Holy smokes! We have been wanting to try EB Strong's and tonight it finally happened. Dinner was spectacular, the staff was amazing, I am going to go out here and say that this place blew Leunigs OUT OF THE WATER! I say this mostly for the service, their food is easily equally as good. They are really amazing. Leunigs lately has left a I am better than you vibe with their service. If you are looking for an amazing dinner, atmosphere, and service, look no further than EB Strong's.
The steaks were outstanding. The service was great but usually fully booked. I was lucky to have twos seats by the bar. Highly recommend their steaks and cheese.
My wife and I enjoyed a great dinner here. The calamari was delicious, lightly breaded which helped us finish our main course. My wife had the 12oz new York strip and I had the 18oz bone in ribeye. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, the strip had a wonderful crust and it may have been the better of the two but I would have no issue recommending either steak. For sides the Brussel sprouts are an excellent choice. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The only negative I have for this restaurant is the creamed spinach. We had to send it back, but the great response from our server maintains the 5 star rating for me.
I came here a couple years ago for one of my 21st birthday celebrations - I felt like more of an adult visiting then; than I do today. Our waitress, who is to remain unnamed (we were not introduced) was not very kind. We arrived 1 hour and 10 minutes before closing but we felt incredibly rushed. We were asked what s for dinner twice before our drinks had even arrived. I have never been asked what s for dinner at any establishment let alone a prime steak house. I ve worked in the service industry - that s not how any of this works. I ordered the fillet rare but was questioned whether I actually wanted that. Like when I order normal hot from an Indian restaurant and they ask, are you sure . That specific line of questioning seems to come from a place of genuine concern. In contrast, this questioning seemed to presume our inexperience. I have not ordered a medium rare steak in 10 years but changed pace when I was told that the steak would be served cold and bloody . I understand the French market rare steaks as saignant but the poetry does not translate. I felt that there was no confidence in a steak served rare. I think it s because we re gay smh. Just kidding, we were probably just young and in t-shirts, but that still feels like no excuse when we ve been to definitively higher tier restaurants in the same attire and have been treated with respect. We walked from our home to this restaurant, we are your neighbors, it did not feel reciprocal. This is the behavior I expect from Leunigs, do better.
Absolutely Terrible. Toughest Fillet I ever had. Could barely cut it and had to saw through it. Cold bread, frozen butter. Food came out cold 35 minutes after it was ordered. Would have sent it back but didnt want to wait another 35 minutes to have it replaced.
OMG! So good!! I had the calamari and the scallops! Freaking delicious!! I highly recommend!!
White tablecloths and a private room for six with everything served the right way-We started our evening with salads and enjoyed them as much as the steak frites, creamed spinach and seared/crusted Ahi Tuna-all superb and delicious. The service and hospitality also hit the spot!l
My favorite bar in BTV! Amazing staff & a great, chilled dirty martini! Love this place!
My strip steak was under cooked - raw in center, which is not how I ordered. Nice piece of meat, but under seasoned. Need to order a sauce for the steak separately. Several people in my group mentioned several of the sides were too salty. Disappointed that all or most of the desserts were dairy and no chocolate offering.
The atmosphere is nice, but the steak was pretty dry. The asparagus was very fresh and nice.
Wonderful place to dine.
Nice atmosphere. Decent service. Good wines. Steak was disappointing. For $52 I expected my NY Strip to be stellar. It was not. A bit over cooked for rare. Just a slab of meat on a plate. No garnish. So lacking in presentation. And not a great steak - thin and not particularly tender or tasty.
Wouldn t bring our food for an hour
The food was excellent, but very pricy, me and a friend payed over $200, I had the venison special and he had the most expensive steak at like $50, we both had one cocktail, thats a little pricy
We ordered a 24-ounce porterhouse, and it appeared much smaller than that what was advertised. It was a very underwhelming experience. Also, I requested birthday desserts for my family, and they completely failed to deliver. They offered to box it up AFTER we paid for the check, but the gesture was too late. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
We had a great experience at E B Strongs. We lucked out on a busy night that someone didnt show up for their reservation! Sat at a very cozy table and enjoyed 4 delicious courses (soup/salad/entrée/dessert). They had a maple Crème Brûlée... The wait staff was overwhelmingly friendly and added to the all around great experience. Highly recommend!
Perfect go-to every time. Timeless. Hospitable. Professional. Thank you!
Perfect. Historic. Local. 100% Professional. Cant wait to go again soon!
Amazing food, amazing service. We were a party of 8 and had a private room. Dim lit, lovely ambiance. Definitely recommend. If youre planning on trying E B Strongs; I recommend making reservations.
Our server Sydney was the greatest. The entire staff was Incredibly nice and on top of everything. The food was a 10 ! Cant wait to go back .
Best tartare I ve had in Vermont.. service is impeccable. They do an incredible job.
The steak and potatoes were amazing. Also, very nice staff.
Excellent restaurant. The Tartare is exceptional.
Great vibes and food. The cocktails are top notch and surf and turf is YUM. Solid wine menu too!
Very expensive dinner, overall the food was good, the beef tartare was delicious, one of the best i ve ever had. The maple brussel sprouts were also delicious. For main dish, I had the surf and turf, the lobster tail was good but the choice filet (piece of beef) was okay at best. I asked for medium rare and it felt like it was medium at best. Then, it felt like the meat had been cooked sous vide for too long, the fibers of the meat were all broken down you could not see or feel them when cutting the meat. I would return for the beef tartare but I would not have a steak, I would try the lobster mac and cheese. Service was perfect
I recently ate at EB Strongs, food was amazing, drinks were okay. The bartender Susie was incredibly rude and off putting. Came in with a large party at the bar and eat there. Will never be doing that again. Rest of the staff was amazing, very kind. I recommend not eating at the bar due to that one bartender.
Ocean tower had no decoration; My porter house steak didn t have sufficient Maillard reactions and didn t taste like aged; Very disappointed to choose this restaurant for my birthday
We attended the restaurant for a special occasion and were very pleased. The food was extremely good. The staff was excellent and made for a terrific experience.
This place is outstanding! Amazing service. Hands down the best cocktails on Church Street. Good was delicious. We asks the waitstaff to surprise us for EVERYTHING and it was delicious. And the crème brûlée is to die for. Great atmosphere. Accommodating to dietary needs as well. A+. Go here for dinner!
the food was great i got the surf and turf and i m mainly giving 5 stars for the service
I had a decent experience. Upon walking into the restaurant, I noticed it was a little dark. I get the whole ambiance thing, but it was a little much for me. The staff was excellent from the hostess to the waitress. The food was so so. I expected more considering the prices on the menu. Then again, Im not native to Vermont so maybe this is their upscale. I had a prime steak with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and spinach. It was good enough to give another try and maybe find something else on the menu.
Delicious dinner and great atmosphere
Would I recommend. Yes. Service was great. Atmosphere great. Overall a great experience. Portion size could have been slightly larger on some meals for the price. Wife had the diver scallops....honestly....it was appetizer size. 3 scallops and maybe 6-8 oz of risotto max. Visual disappointing and not satisfying. I feel it needed at least 1 more scallop and some more risotto to be considered an entrée. Management should evaluate that menu item.
Our first experience here was great. The second was terrible. Both steaks were over cooked and the rest of the food as well. Its sad as I thought we found a nice steak house like the Capital grille but here in Vermont.
Appetizers and drinks were very good, and then the steaks came out . The steaks were extremely disappointing. Very bland and overcooked. It was one of the worst ribeyes Ive ever eaten. For the price, and the fact that we were dining at a steakhouse, I would have expected much better.
Great burger especially for the price. The truffle fries are hard to beat. Their drinks are tremendous. I recommend their old fashioned. Lovely staff always making sure everything is in order.
I was thrilled to try this recommended institution by cultural, beer & bourbon colleagues. Sat at bar 12 minutes before service. Drinks service 2 out of 10, food 4 out of 10. Had to ask for service 3x - lovely loud locals demanded service, naturally: Empty drinks & h20 for Outsiders, no menu and locals getting deserved w/ great attention is motto I m white gal, small town & big Int l travelled and felt sad along w/black fellow - local gent who heard craziness by locals wow! Change needed with 60+ art-science-history crowd. I ll give it 2 stars for travelers & 4 star for locals.
When at a steakhouse eat steak and so I did. Excellent filet and the truffle fries, so good! The squash soup which was more puréed squash was so flavorful and almost a meal by itself. My vegetarian friend really enjoyed her beet salad with chèvre. We topped off with some local cheeses and the maple crème brûlée and ate every bite. Great wine selection, alcohol selection and a vibrant bar scene as well if you prefer that over table service. Place is very clean and an enjoyable space to be in. Definitely worth a visit.
The food was amazing, the staff were fantastic, and the overall experience was wonderful! We were in Burlington on vacation but would definitely return if we come back. The filet mignon was my favorite part!
E.B. Strong s is our favorite spot for a delicious, elegant meal in Burlington. The food delights both our family s fish and our steak enthusiasts. The servers are always professional, knowledgeable , and unobtrusive.
For a steakhouse, this is as good as it gets for Vermont. The small parking lot in the back is very convenient. We started with the potato leek soup and fried calamari. Both were delicious. Filet and lamb chops for the entree and they were cooked to perfection. My review is for 4.5 stars. My only complaint was that the service was a little slow.
Great steakhouse. I had a great meal
Parking: Restaurant will give you a free parking pass to put on your dashboard. Food
Excelent service and super friendly staff
Perfectly firm.
Completely ignored by the waiter at the bar talking to his friends on July 1, 2023 around 6:45PM. We walked out. Do better. :)
The tartare was one of the best things Ive ever put in my mouth. Ridiculously good.
So good, both of our steaks were cooked perfectly! They definitely know how to cook a steak!! Fries were so good too! And, the desserts
By far the best steak in Burlington. One of my favorite things to eat is the beef tartare with a great cocktail at the bar.
Cierra was an excellent server. Went for escargot, but they didnt get a shipment. We had the tuna and mussels for appetizers. Both were prepared to perfection. I had the surf and turf for my main. The filet was cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was overcooked, cool, and not seasoned. My partner had the cioppino which was very good with the normal issue of tails on the shrimp in a broth. I dont know who thinks that is a good idea, but we hate it, even though we expect it. Cierra said I should have told her about the lobster, and she would have replaced it. I try never to send food back for all the obvious reasons. The wine was good also. Overall, we would return, but I will skip the lobster next time.
We choose EB Strongs for a client dinner while visiting Burlington for meetings. We had a group of 13, and were seated with a reservation in the private room, and everything was perfect. We had several servers checking in on us and we didnt need a thing, ever! Across the group we tried lots of dishes including the filet, surf and turf, crab cake, calamari, shrimp cocktail, salads, and chocolate martinis for dessert. Everyone enjoyed their food, and we had a great time.
AMAZING!! 10 outta 10 will go again!
Beautiful restaurant and great service but the food is just OK here and not worth the cost compared to similar places in this price range (the guild, hen of the wood).
Prime rib special was just OK. Overall experience was good. But for the price I d expect perfection. The potato fingerlings are very good.
Top bartender in town! Id give Susie a 10-star if I could. She makes the best Gin Fizz Ive ever had. Parking: They offer a ticket for free parking.
We enjoyed our time here. We ordered the herb fries as a snack and a few drinks, everything was excellent and the service was great.
Probably the best steakhouse in Vermont, though Im still trying to try them all. Dont miss the steak options at the bottom of the menu. Quality cuts of USDA prime that you dont find elsewhere in Vermont.
I ordered the special as it sounded like a good steak. The server confirmed that it was looking and smelling good. It was fine. However, when the bill came, I was shocked at the price. Generally I would expect the cost of a special to be in line with the cost of the other entrees on the menu. This was significantly more at $85. I do not believe there was anything else on the menu at this price point. I feel that the price should have been communicated and I am left feeling ripped off. It is not likely that I will return to this restaurant.
I know there are a handful of fine dining options in the area but we are so glad we picked here. Emma was our server tonight and she was excellent. Take your time and enjoy a unique dining experience here. French onion soup. Potato leek soup. Escargot. Filet. Mud pie. All so good. $15 for 2 hr parking in lot attached to building.
I ordered the prime rib. It was excellent. My wife ordered surf and turf. She love hers as well. Service was great as well. Then there was the cheese cake omg it was delicious when you re read. I am.
Went for a work holiday party. Our Frist time here and everything was fantastic! Will try on our own!
Enjoyed dinner at Strong s last night. Staff was attentive and engaging, dinner was delicious. Plan to visit again when we return.
If there is a place to get a steak in Burlington, this is it. Not to mention the Wine list is probably the best in town, too. I have dined well in many cities and they do it right with everything from the drink menu, to the food pairings and how the tastes of the menu compliment each other, to the plate presentation, to the horseradish sauce to go with the prime rib. My girlfriend may have also said This is the best meal I have ever had. 10/10 would recommend.
Lovely atmosphere. We had apps, cocktails, entrees and desserts. Each one was delicious. I was over the moon about the steak tartare. It was absolutely delicious. Mud pie for dessert is enough to share and wonderful. Filets cooked the right way and served over potatoes with crspy onions on top. All so good. Brussel sprouts are also a great side to share for two. Service was kind and attentive. Properly spaced tables taking covid into consideration. Check them out, I dont think they get the hype they deserve.
Great service and everything was cooked to perfection and delicious!
It was another delightful night out dining with my friends at EBs: --Scrumptious entrees and salads --Beautiful presentation --Fabulous cocktails --Super friendly and attentive wait staff --Festive atmosphere E B Strongs never disappoints!
We were served by Caitlin. She is extremely knowledgeable about the menu, as well as wine pairing. We started with the jumbo shrimp, as well as a Caesar salad. The homemade Caesar dressing was fabulous. We followed up with the filet mignon and a ribbsteak. Both were cooked to perfection. We will definitely return here.
Very nice place for a special dinner or evening excellent service wonderful staff and great food
Excellent food,drinks and service!
My new favorite at the top of church street. EXCELLENT FOOD, friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff.
Incredible experience at this restaurant. The people who work there are all very kind. Our waitress was lovely. The food is AMAZING. Highly recommend the surf and turf entree, the steak was cooked perfectly. Can t wait to come back next time we re in Burlington!
Pros: I changed my reservation to the day of(Friday) and they accommodated me despite their busy schedule. The atmosphere was great The food was good Very friendly and helpful waitstaff Cons: No sides included with entrees? Sides are $8 extra We waited for almost 1:30 for our food NY Strip Steak was probably on par with the best steak you could get at Texas Road House(not bad, but expected better for the $46 dollar price tag) The beer menu was extremely limited(not a con for everyone but worth mentioning)
Scallops were amazing....
Worth every penny. Great food and service.
Had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes for dinner. Then it finally came and the meat was served lukewarm. Only the fries with my burger were hot. Save your money and go somewhere else. Would not recommend!
Super disappointed , we reserved early. Arrived and seated, got our drinks, placed our order and waited, and waited... Had a couple come in and sit down next to us and they were served an app, entrees and desert while we continued to wait. My husband flagged our non existent waitress who let us know she was assisting a larger party and was so sorry for the wait. She was going to the kitchen to check on our food and would get him a drink refill. An hr and 15 minutes our food arrived Luke warm except the Frys. Waiting for the server to come back and check in to complain... I payed for a late, cold dinner. 10 minutes after the food arrived his drink refill arrived as well. Over all it was a horrible experience. Wouldnt recommend.
Beautiful experience! They were extremely accommodating to our large party, very kind! Will definitely come back
Delicious food, great service, no complaints here. Currently working in Stowe, VT where it takes 45mins to get food. This was an amazing place to go to and would definitely come back.
Sierra is a phenomenal server. First class!
Thank you for making a birthday celebration such a great memory. Everything was perfect, starting with the table for two in the Nixon Room. The oysters, filets and desert were fantastic. I cannot forget to thank our server Katelyn for adding to the experience. She was so knowledgeable and had a special way of making us feel relaxed. The Birthday Boy will always remember this one as one of his best birthday dinners. Phenomenal evening!!!
Great service, great food.
Great service and delicious food. Hostess was a little rude.
I travel for work and I tend to pick a steakhouse when Im out of town. This place is great. Food was of good quality and cooked to order. The menu was diverse but not overwhelming. The server was polite and attentive. The atmosphere was a nice old fashioned steakhouse wich i like. I will definitely be back and will also recommend this awesome steakhouse.
Classic steakhouse. Superb quality, great wine list, cocktails on point. Service was tremendous
Ate here a few months back when my parents came up to visit. I had the ribeye which was pretty pricey ($58 for an 18oz), and it was the lousiest steak Ive had in a while. Ive personally made better steaks at home. My parents both ordered seafood. Later that night they both became violently ill and had to call an ambulance to their hotel room. Helluva first experience...
Solid!
Decided to see if the bar was available and got lucky had seafood and steak everything was so great. A waitress sat us because the hostes was busy I thought that was great teamwork and we really appreciate the sense of urgency, even though we didnt have a reservation. This is by fat the best service on church street and in vermont as a whole. Thank you for going above and beyond. Our spontaneous date night was elevated by dinning here.
High end steakhouse with excellent food and friendly staff.
Our favorite restaurant in Burlington. Excellent service incredible food love the atmosphere. Checks every box for us.
This is a great place for a very nice, well prepared meal, and is a nice quiet setting. They have some semi-private areas which are great for business dinners of where you need a more intimate setting. This time, just like last time, the food was out of this world!
Wonderful steakhouse. Great atmosphere and delicious food
Excellent food and service
Fantastic restaurant. The scallops were exceptional - highly recommended. We shared a wedge salad and they were so great to serve it already split on to two separate plates. The service was excellent and the ambiance ever so lovely. Great spot for a date night. Will definitely return the next time I visit Burlington.
Phenomenal service with a smile, well prepared steaks and seafood with flavorful and well-paired sides, and decadent desserts. Our party never felt rushed or forgotten, staff refilled drinks regularly and gave informed answers to menu questions. Truly an eatery well worth the price tag, and worth considering during any celebration or trip through Vermont. Five stars.
Fabulous
Great food! Steak tartar was delicious!
Expensive but the food was excellent and well worth the money. Will be coming back.
We had an amazing time here! Everyone was so friendly. The food was amazing and so worth every penny! Also our server Margo was a superstar!! We loved her! Definitely will return!
I was in burlington VT for the night with my girlfriend and I always wanted to take her somewhere nice like a ruth chris and this place was my choice. Someone told me it s expensive and for me that my target. I like expensive eats. We ordered the muscles first as an appetizer and the sauce used and the way it was presented was very good. It reminded me of my grandmothers sauce she used to make with the breadcrumbs. I Ordered the 12 oz prime steak with Salted butter. The prime steak was delicious and cooked to the way i asked medium. My girlfriend got the steak tip salad. I also ordered the truffle fries and the bacon Brussels Sprouts, and i can t even say words for how good everything was. My bartender (i sat at the bar) Helena was very attentive and explained everything that I needed to know. The wine selections are very nice as well. I will be coming back if i m ever in the area again! Very impressed.
My cousin visiting from Key West said EB Strong was one of the best steak houses he has eaten in. All 6 of us had wonderful meals. EB Strongs is a favorite. !!
This was one of the best meals Ive had in at least the last 10 years! I had the Surf and Turf - 6 oz filet and split lobster tail - with garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The filet was EXCELLENT - I asked for medium but it arrived closer to medium rare, but was perfect! Very tender with no gristle or fat.. The lobster tail was good too, but one side was kind of hard to get out of shell... The garlic mashed were creamy and perfectly seasoned. The spinach I didnt eat - just dont care for creamed spinach. My husband had the scallops with crispy prosciutto and corn relish over risotto. It was really good, but a little salty. For dessert we split the maple creme brulee -- yummy. Large serving - thank you! Margo was our server and she was wonderful! This meal and the excellent service capped off our week in Vermont perfectly.
If you are looking for a great dinner in downtown BVT, you MUST go to Strongs!!! My BF and I went for our anniversary dinner and had a fantastic experience! From the service to the cocktails and food, we were very impressed! Even though our server was a little new she was still more AMAZING than servers weve seen elsewhere with more years of experience! It was very obvious that they do a great job of training their staff! And hats off to the chef and the menu selections! FAB U LOUS! HIGHLY RECOMMEND STRONGs! xoxoxo
Delicious steaks and nice atmosphere!
Great food and excellent service from Franny.
Great food and service.
Always an amazing and special dinner experience. The owner recommended a wonderful wine to pair with our meal. The staff was courteous and attentive. Completely worth the experience. We had the filet and the prime rib special which were cooked to perfection.
top tier
This place is super solid. Ive had an outstanding experience every time Ive dined here.
Great appetizers (had tartare and calamari) and a fantastic steak! I left very impressed and was glad to get a table without a reservation on a Wednesday night...will return on next trip to Burlington!
I LOVE steakhouses! EB Strongs was a HUGE disappointment. It took 15 minutes for us to have our water glasses filled upon arrival. Multiple waiters and waitresses walked by and saw us not being helped but didn t step in. My boyfriend s plate for bread was noticeably dirty. We told the waitress (when she eventually came over) and she took it away, without apology and didn t come back with a new one until reminded. The chopped salad was nauseating and the Caesar with anchovies was sub par. Anchovies are not chopped, just placed on top. The filet was pretty good. The Brussels which were highly recommended by our waitress tasted like they were bought frozen from the supermarket, thrown in a pan for a few minutes and had maple syrup sprinkled on it. I m a horrible cook and couldve made them better. They ran out of desserts except 3. The dessert we got was OK. Nothing made up for the horrible service, dirty plates and well below average food. The bill was about $180 (1 drink each) for a pretty terrible experience. As we left, the bartender made fun of our coats. All in all, would never recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Delicious food, great service and upscale dining. Fantastic place for a date
great food
Amazing steak and wonderful selection of other meats and seafoods. A little pricey but worth the money! I always stop in during a visit to Burlington.
Always great! Spectacular service, and amazing steaks!
The food is ok. Sides were ok also. But, ok should not be the adjective applied to a restaurant this pricey. I am never one to write 1 STAR reviews and will not do so here. Succinctly stated, this is an average steak house. Not an exceptional or notable steak house. However, to serve coffee (cold) is not excusable. We did not complain as we were underwhelmed by the whole dining experience. None of us were impressed and I doubt we will ever return.
Food was excellent, but service was just ok.
Was very impressed with every aspect of this restaurant! Very nicely located on church street, this steakhouse has great food! The staff was so prompt and very polite! I started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail and it was awesome. Then I had their maple old fashion, which I think completely embraced the flavors of Vermont and it was delicious. For dinner I had the surf and turf, with a filet and lobster tail. Finally, we had the deserts. We ate everything and took nothing home, that s how good it was!!
It was worth every penny and then some! Get the truffle fries regardless of what else you order and treat yourself to a Maple Old-Fashioned. But it will only be a perfect evening if you ask for Margo to be your waitress. She was charming, funny, engaging... my wife and I adored her. The restaurant lets you request servers, so do yourself a favor and ask for her.
Bought a 45.00 steak. Not even close to good. I cook delmonico on my grill at home for 13.00 that taste 3 times better. Oh and you only get the steak for 45.00 nothing comes with it. Everything is extra money. My bill was 135.00 with tip. (Our waitress was phenomenal) I could of made 2 delmonico steaks with baked potato and a vegetable at home for 30.00. And actually enjoyed it. Severely unimpressed!!!
Weird vibe with Covid, but staff was friendly and the food was great. Get the maple bacon Brussel sprouts.
I travel all over the country and try to find the #1 restaurant wherever I stay. Criteria? Pleasant atmosphere, welcoming, friendly and attentive staff, an engaged proprietor and fantastic food. EB s checks all the boxes and more! Even during these difficult times Christina and her crew go above and beyond! Whether you live local or just passing thru check them out. You will not be disappointed.
My favorite place in Burlington
We have been trying to eat here for at least a year and had troubles because we don t plan to make reservations far enough in advance so it never worked out until a few nights ago. We ended up arriving 20 minutes early and they were able to seat us immediately. The staff was friendly and attentive the whole time. Oysters and shrimp cocktail appetizers were great. My lamb was good with the chimichurri sauce, but the meat was more gamey then I prefer although it s probably a personal preference than anything off with the lamb. My fiancé had the Snake river farm flank steak/wagyu and ordered it medium well. It was cooked a little rather than her prefers but he ate every last bite. Lastly we wrapped up with lattes, espressos, Creme Brûlée and chocolate kahlua cake. It was a great dining experience for our first visit. We would definitely come again.
Lovely staff but as a steakhouse you have to know how to cook a steak. Our entire party got over cooked (grey) steaks when med rare was requested. Sent it back and a waitress said that the lighting changes the color of the steak. Not trying to roast this place but a steakhouse really has 1 main job, cook a steak right. When they start telling you why the customer is wrong, not a good look.
Delicious food, an elegant atmosphere, and a staff that deserves every tip they get, and more. Even after receiving an overdone steak, it was replaced quickly with a sincere apology and compensated appetizers we didnt even ask for. Id drive all the way from Boston again just to have that Filet Mignon
Fabulous meal overall. Delighted by the food, service and ambiance! Had dinner with my bride here mid October. Covid still going strong, we have been hesitant to eat inside. Felt comfortable here. A little too cold to eat outside (although some did) (why arent there more gas heaters in use up here? ). Really appreciate how they have set the tables up in the bar... spaced pretty far apart and running them parallel to the bar (no stools at bar, just takes for two turned sideways). Provides a different vibe having the bar on one side of you but we liked it. Bride had the filet- cooked perfectly. Came to table hot, as it should. She loved everything but especially appreciated the demiglas (sp?). l had the diver scallops with risotto... oh wow! Scallops cooked perfectly as well. Food came out piping hot. The risotto was the star of this dish though... if I could lick the plate I would have. I will remember that meal for a long time! We also had bread with a great butter (had salt sprinkled on it... nice). I ordered an Allagash White - one of my faves. $7 seemed a little high for it. Bill came to $80, tipped $20. Prices are not cheap here, but I am happy to pay for such a great meal. Service was great as well. Man and woman behind the bar gave us the right amount of attention, filled our water glasses, etc. Good conversation with them. About the only negative for us was the seats or stools we sat in. They were not the most comfortable. If we were to return to the area this would be a must stop to revisit. Highly recommend! 5 !!!
Good food. Service was great. When we went, they didnt have out first 2 or 3 choices, but that was due to COVID and the fact that we were there late (8:30pm reservation) on their last night being open for a while. They do have some higher prices, but there are also some lower priced entrees ($16 or so) just in case you have a lower budget. I would say average meal (2 drinks, 2 apps, 2 entrees,. 1 dessert) would run $150 if you pick the middle road pricing. Food was delicious though even though it wasnt our first pick. Recommend the crab cake appetizer.
I was so happy to finally find a steakhouse near us. The service n food were great. We would definitely go back again especially when the bar is able to open. Very cozy atmosphere to celebrate my birthday with my husband. The maple brussel sprouts n filet were delicious. Cheers!
The food and service are top notch!
Phenomenal good, excellent service!! Will definitely return in the future!!
Best restaurant in Burlington for a combination of excellent food, drinks and attentive wait staff.
Sold steak house with great staff. They could get more seasonal with their appitizers and their sides.
If you want the best steak around, you must go to E.B. Strong s. In fact, I ve never had anything on the menu that wasn t scrumptious. Then add in the congenial professionalism of the servers and bartenders and one s dining experience is perfection indeed!
Absolutely great, Prime Rib and Filet Mignon very tasty.
EB Strongs has quickly become one of my favorite places to dine. I have been so impressed with the level of service and friendliness over the last year, that I decided to have our company holiday party here. WOW!! - one of the best decisions made. We are a group of about 20 and our team raved about the experience for days after. The food was spectacular, the private bar was spot on, and the staff that served us were all on the ball with perfect attention to detail. You deserve more than this 5 star review. Needless to say, I will be back and Thank You. Well Done, EB Strongs! -Kristopher Larson, Owner at Otter Creek Awnings.
Had the 32oz tomahawk ribeye. The mashed potatoes were traditional and amazing. The brussel sprouts were perfect. The service was tremendous. Really enjoyed everything.
GREAT place to visit. Historical site.
3 out of 4 meals where perfect.
Food was exquisite and our server was extremely attentive and competent.
Delicious prime rib steak (14 oz). I enjoyed my mashed potatoes as well! This is the first time, however, that a steak restaurant advised that the chef recommended to have the steak cooked medium (I initially requested rare - medium rare). A bit odd, but the end result was good!
I had a great time yesterday. Thank you to Sierra, waitress, who was friendly and courteous.
Delicious dinner from start to finish. No complaints. Very good tuna tar tar with delicious watermelon appetizer Our steaks were also cooked perfectly.
Dinner last night. Prime was cooked exactly the way I like it. Service was excellent. This place is a hidden gem.
We were visiting Vermont last week to check out some colleges for my 17 year old son and decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner out. This was a Wednesday evening, and although it is a touristy type of town, it was not a busy Friday or Saturday night and we did make reservations for 7:00 p.m. We were seated promptly. The service was so-so, meaning that the servers were all very friendly, but my son waited on a refill for over half an hour. It took about 2 hours for our food to come out, which we didnt *terribly* mind because we were having nice conversation and enjoying the atmosphere, but thats still waaaay too long to wait for food. I should say that the salads came out on time, but it was the main entrees that took an exorbitant amount of time. When main course did arrive, we were sad to find that all of the dishes had different temperatures. The creamed corn was piping hot, but the mashed potatoes and even our steaks were less than warm. They were actually cooked to our liking, and they tasted fine. We werent about to send anything back and wait longer for food at that point! We did opt not to get dessert. We ordered a Coke, a Sprite, two vodka cranberries, two caprese salads, 14oz. Ribeye, a New York Strip, a Filet, fingerling potatoes (a bit too crispy), creamed corn, mashed potatoes. The bill was just under $300 & I would not recommend going to this place based on the wait time and inconsistent food temperatures. My real rating would be 2 and a 1/2 stars.
Absolutely loved everything!! We even went out to buy black salt!
From the ambience, to the staff, and especially the food; everything was great. Have a cocktail, enjoy some cow!
Worst service in the Burlington area for fine dining, bartender was hammered at 8 oclock.
Fw
Just the bread, served on a board, with butter, infused oil, and 2 types of salt earned the 5 star rating alone. The truffle fries were amazing! From our greeting upon arrival through the farewell on our departure, the staff was above and beyond welcoming and gracious! Well absolutely return! Thank you!!!
Great experience
I stopped in here on a Saturday night in late October in search of an escape from a long work week in the form of a delicious steak and I was not disappointed. My filet was cooked absolutely beautifully to order. The meat was divine and so tender the steak knife the waitress brought me was all but useless as the butter knife on the neatly set table would have sufficed. The atmosphere was upscale but still casual that I did not feel out of place in a sweater and jeans infact many of the patrons were dressed even more casual than that. You certainly would not feel out of place in a sport coat and slacks however. The dining room is intimate and perfect for a date but large enough to also host a family or large party without ruining the cozy mood.
GREAT place to eat. Best steak Ive had in years. Service was nothing short of excellent. Would recommend to all.
so far incredible been here once before
E.B. Strong s is by far one of the best restaurants in the Burlington area. At the risk of sounding full of myself, I ve eaten at amazing restaurants all over the world and E.B. Strong s never disappoints. The last time I was here, I took my fiancée and we both tried the surf and turf . The steak was cooked perfectly (I ordered a medium rare) and the lobster tail was to-die-for. I highly recommend E.B. Strong s because you get great food and a great overall experience, where the staff treat the customer as their number one priority. But like any other high-end, fancy restaurant....be prepared to pay for the experience.
My favorite restaurant in New England.
Excellent food. Best Ive had in a while. Great service.
Good food. Ala cart menu, so a expensive for the offering. Has private wine lockers.
The staff was really friendly. Service was pretty good. Unfortunately, the food was so so. Nothing to brag about, and Ive had better $15 steaks. The wifes chicken was very good. Turtle fries were super oily and the amount of salt was quite steep. Once again though, the staff was really friendly. Maybe next time...
Excellent!
Excellent choices. Excellent food. Very knowledgeable team. Very nice atmosphere. From semi formal to semi casual. We had a great time. Would highly recommend! Plan on $100 per person.
