This is our go to restaurant for sushi in Burlington. Their dinner for 2 take-out is also great. Lots of food for a reasonable cost. Parking: Small lot to try to get a spot. Kid-friendliness: They had kids chopsticks and they loved ordering from the iPads.

One of my favourite AYCE restaurants. Staff are extremely attentive, food is always fresh and yummy. I highly recommend the tacos! Price is reasonable compared to others in the area. Selection is decent as well for lunch. Parking can be a challenge as lot is quite small.

I went on a Sunday for lunch with my family . The wait was rlly fast around 2 minute . The servers was nice but one looking like she doesn t want to be there. The food was okay, a lot doesn t look as good as what it look like on the tablet (menu) .the sushi roll, some were a lot of rice and less toppings inside. I really recommend the dragon rolls . It s so good and full with topping inside. The seafood udon has very very little toppings which we were disappointed about. The steak skewers were dried, tiny,thin , it doesn t match well with the teriyaki sauce they put on top. The sashimi were fresh . The atmosphere were nice , quiet. The food came out fast as well. It was our first time , wasn t bad but wouldn t come back .

I had an extremely disappointing and insulting experience at August 8. After hearing great things about it as a top spot for all-you-can-eat sushi, I was excited to try it. However, the experience was far from what I expected, especially at $50 per person. First, I was served cold Wagyu beef, which should never happen at a restaurant of this caliber. On top of that, the beef dumplings had undercooked meat with an unappetizing texture, making the meal not just disappointing but off-putting. But what truly shocked and upset us was the behavior of the waiter. He had the audacity to ask my date about her age, suggesting she might qualify for a childrens discount. In my culture, asking a woman s age is considered highly inappropriate, and this was especially humiliating since he assumed she was a child. She s 22, yet he asked if she was 12. Understandably, she was in tears after this experience, and I was equally offended. I am astonished that such a well-known restaurant could deliver such a subpar dining experience, both in terms of food quality and staff conduct.

This restaurant offers reasonable price (approx. $40 total/person for lunch) for all you can eat dining experience. This is much cheaper price compared to downtown restaurant while make you can t eat anymore.

Best Edamame in town

Food was decent. Service was horrible. We had to ask three times to pay. We asked once. Waited 30 minutes. We used the ordering tablet to check out and then asked a second waiter for our bill. We asked a third time and the waiter finally headed over to our table but gave us a look of distain like we were being demanding. In total it took approximately 90 minutes to get our bill and then he rushed us like we had been the issue. Nope. Won t be returning.

Theyve updated the menu and everything was amazing

Went last week for lunch and was very very disappointed. The staffs werent really attentive, we waited for 30mins to be serve and another 30mins for our bill. The lunch menu price kept raising up its price everytime we come and visit but this time their menu options was very limited. Alot of items werent in the menu anymore like cheese wontons. This isnt my first time in this location so its really disappointing seeing a drastic change in this place. Never again.

I have no idea why the ratings for this place are 4.2. This place is a 5/5. I ve been to every other August 8 location, Hamilton, Stoney creek, Brampton, Oakville, this is by far the BEST location. I have gone here so many times and have never been disappointed. Service is always amazing, food is always amazing!

Dough for dim sum is much too thick and chewy. Same issue with the tempura. Its supposed to be light and delicate. I only ended up eating one of each type I ordered. Brought it to the attention of the manager and he did absolutely nothing about it. Complete waste of money and time. Ended up only being able to eat about a third of what I ordered. Avoid this restaurant!

im writing this about two months after i had intended to originally post it, so you may be wondering why i chose to write it at all simply put, im leaving a review because my all-but abysmal time at the august 8 on brant has somehow managed to immortalize its name as one of my worst dine-in experiences to-date. my boyfriend and i had been thinking about going to august 8 for dinner for at least a month before we finally found the time to make it happen. we picked a day, dressed the part, and set off through (downtown) burlington towards our then-promising destination. after all that excitement, you could imagine our disappointment when our special night-out was ruined not by the food! but by the restaurants service itself, or lack thereof entirely, in this case. our evening started off rather innocuously, with us being seated and provided the tablet on which to make our menu-selections, et cetera, and then it became glaringly clear throughout our otherwise enjoyable meal that the employees at this specific location were far from professional in the slightest. at several points during my partner and is meal, wherein we were attempting to share a rare moment of respite from our hectic schedules, we noticed several members of the waitstaff crowding together (when they had other patrons to attend to!) and throwing conspicuous, sidelong glances our way. i try to avoid making unsupported allegations at the best of times, but even to my own, untrained-eyes, and my boyfriends arguably more perceptive ones, the male waitstaff in particular were paying me a little too much attention. as theyd each pass by (which happened more frequently than them actually stopping to speak to us), it reached the point where one server completely ignored my partner in favour of addressing me as if he wasnt sitting directly in front of me. but the real clincher was when we decided to leave (earlier than wed originally planned because of how things were going by that point!) and asked for the check, only to sit at that table for another half-hour patiently waiting for our server to return! just to see them breeze by us and happily assist the table right next to ours. at last! a different server came up to us and asked if we needed anything, and a few short minutes later wed paid and were out of there significantly less enthused than we had been when we first walked in earlier that night. i had been to august 8 before, on two separate occasions, but both were at their downtown-hamilton location, and i left thoroughly satisfied with each visit. even now, ill still suggest august 8 to anyone looking for good sushi-spot recommendations but from my personal experience with their (at the time) selective, lacklustre, service: id stay away from the one on brant, if i were you. tl;dr good food, mediocre atmosphere, bad service.

Me and my friends Went to August 8 and we had a phenomenal time. We really enjoyed the sushi rolls, tempura, salmon, and the dessert was great .CP and Cristin worked so hard to serve us . They were so friendly. Personally I would recommend this place to any friends and family thanks to the great food, place and don t forgot the greatest service ever.

Ordered delivery by Door Dash. Half of the order felt like it was leftover from the day before. The butterfish handroll had just little tiny pieces of fish (see picture) and the curried cuttlefish was so tough it had to be thrown away. The salmon avocado rolls were mushy. Have eaten in before and enjoyed it so either someone goofed or things are going downhill. Won t be ordering again!!

Their order system is easy and nice. I went here today for dinner but even though I was born on August 8, they didn t give us a birthday discount so it was pointless to choose this restaurant but I ve been to some of their other locations and I like the all you can eat it s usually good overall.

I ordered extra Wasabi, extra ginger sea weed salad on the side and yet with my sushi order this place wouldnt add chopsticks. Thats really cheap according to my young nephew and i really do agree. Shame on you for destroying his surprise treat!

The restaurant and dining experience itself is amazing. Ive been a little disappointed as the selection of food seems to be decreasing a bit but overall it still meets expectations. The worst part of this location is the parking lot. It is challenging to park anything larger than a compact and even that proves challenging. Every time Ive been here theres been some kind of fender bender because of the tight driving lane and parking spots. I recommend looking for alternate parking or transportation if its available, or at the very least carpooling with your entire group to minimize the number of vehicles. Dont take a truck, SUV, or crossover unless youre willing to wait for an ideal spot and hope nobody else sneaks in and takes it.

Decent AYCE place given that its in Burlington, good service & atmosphere. Steamed frozen dim sum but the chicken feet had gone bad & the waiter apologized promptly & said would tell kitchen. They actually gave us a discount without saying anything.

We arrived at 3 pm, not a busy time . We were sat to the furthest corner table , even though all the tables were empty, because I have tiny service dog And after we had 3 dirty water glasses with all lipstick on them. Then we were told we have only 30 mins to order from lunch menu, So we started to order our appetizers ( salad and soup) Then we ordered the main meal. Unfortunately our sushi and dumplings came before salad and soup and we had our appetizers after 10 mins and the soups were cold . We had teriyaki beef in our orders , chewy ! Not able to swallow! Our water cups got empty, and didn t get offer for refill. Not happy with good and service and won t come back.

Its with a heavy heart that Im writing this, the food (AYCE) was good, all the sushis were fresh and flavorful, But the service. We ordered a bunch of stuff, at one point the server brought us a platter that we mistakenly thought we hadnt ordered and they took it back, later in the night we asked for our desserts and ice cream they blatantly told us because we sent back those sushis they wouldnt serve us dessert. That was a passive aggressive thing to do, they should have brought us the sushis and we would have dealt with it somehow. But to refuse to serve us dessert? That was low.

Everything was amazing except for the sashimi which to my tastebuds seemed to have a different taste then Imused to. Im worried that its lab grown. Other than that the service is top notch. The atmosphere is good. The decor is very cozy, almost high class. Their deserts are to die for. Especially the mini eclaire and cheesecake.

We ordered a takeout and they forgot to pack some of the items wed ordered, they contacted us, and we were forced to go through the horrible traffic to get the food we ordered and to be told that, as a compensation, the next time we order we can get the forgotten items for free. Not sure Im ordering again from them.

Great food, good service but the place is unpleasantly loud - horrible music selection that would be more suited for a nightclub. Music is so loud it s not easy to have a conversation. Vegetarian options: Cucumber sushi, salads, fried rice. Dietary restrictions: They offer gluten free soy sauce and food options. Parking: Parking is quite small. Been to the place a few times and sometimes I find a spot easily and sometimes it s not possible to park there (we ended up parking on one of the streets behind the restaurant). Depends how busy the restaurant is.

This August 8 has the same great quality youd expect from this chain of all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants. The food was awesome, the service was fast, and the atmosphere was lovely. One little complaint is that they didnt have deep fried cream cheese wontons on the lunch menu, but the rest of the selection was great. The parking lot is also a little small for the amount of people the restaurant accommodates, but street parking is available on the next side street over.

Have been here countless times. Always great staff huge portions and very friendly. They take reservations over the phone here even for parties of 2 which is what I like about this location. Stoney creek location refuses to take reservations for parties of 2 which I find ridiculous. The food here has always been great and they don t skimp out on the sashimi.

With all-you-can-eat, you have an YUGE menu to choose from to sample from, including some the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth fresh salmon - brought in EVERY morning! You will surely notice the difference FRESH makes to a dish. Vegetarian options: Non-meat or fish options Parking: The parking lot fills up quickly at busy lunch and dinner times, so it might me tight to find a spot. There apparently is parking nearby on either side of the restaurant... in the evening in the Ford dealership next door, or a block south in a small plaza. Also limited accessibility parking spots. Having said that, Ive only not found a spot at the restaurant just once. Wheelchair accessibility: Exterior ramp to front door.

The two things that held me back from giving this place a 5 star were the following: 1. Order and delay in food service. For example the sea weed salad and Miso soup was served about after 3 appetizers were served. This may be a kitchen issue. But as a patron, one sees the oddity here. 2. The parking sucks!

I had the opportunity to try out a popular sushi restaurant called August 8 in Burlington for the first time. It was an incredible experience! The restaurant offers a AYCE sushi, where you can eat as much as you want. The quality of the sushi was outstanding, and the service provided by the staff was exceptional. I highly recommend checking out August 8 if youre in the area!

I have since edited my review and lowered my stars. The last few times we have been to this restaurant the beef has been way over peppered, service quality has gone down, pricing up and they will add a 15% tip to a party of 6 without telling u. Thats an easy $30 that is not worth it. Very disappointing. Parking is absurd too I have mixed feelings about this restaurant but it has more to do with personal taste than anything else. The restaurant is clean, open and well laid out. The staff is friendly, work well as a team, and cleared the table often. One disappointment we did have is that we had to ask for missing items such as a plate, chopsticks, and sauce bowls. We also were never given extra napkins or asked if we wanted more water or a refill on our drinks so that can be a suggestions for improvement. Of course they come often enough to the table so snagging someone is easy enough. It was nice to be able to send our own order and not have to call a server to do so and food came out in a timely manner (one item didnt come but we just ordered it again). There are a great many options on the menu so there is something for every one. As for taste this is were I get iffy. I love rolls and I found these ones rather tasteless. They werent bad but just something was missing that made them stand out from other restaurants. A couple other dishes were like that as well, rather bland but nothing to overtly criticize. Meat dishes consistency were excellent, if not always flavourful outside of the sauces used. The steak tenderloin was very good but if you dont like the taste of worchestershire sauce you wont like it. Again my thoughts are a matter of taste, I like fresh ingredients, with loads of flavor and textures and I cant say all ingredients seemed fresh so this place to me was hit and miss but not a bad option. Our family favorites were the edamame, shrimp spring rolls, steak tenderloin, and fish tacos. These were very flavourful. The dessert list was amazing, so many options. I love Chocolate and the ice cream definitely was so chocolatety it satisfied that craving. The kids loved all the desserts. Vegetarian options: Lots of options Dietary restrictions: They have a list separating off the gluten free options which is nice Parking: Lot is narrow and entry and exiting may be difficult due to location Kid-friendliness: Dinner for children is $2 times the childs age (ie 7 yrs old = $14)

Very rude staff and food is not flavourful

They have very good food. Problem is, they dont follow instructions when you request them. Seriously, how hard is it to keep the veggie item from the meat item? Especially when its requested and shows on the receipt that it was requested. Vegetarian options: The have good vegetarian options but they dont always separate vegetarian Im from non-vegetarin items, even when you request it.

Its been many years since dining on August 8. It was just an ok experience. The quality of sushi and sashimi has changed noticeably. I think it may be my last adventure there.

Overall I did not like the food here specially for the price they charge. You can get better sushi from food court in a mall than what s served here. Average mediocre sushi mostly tasted stale. Teppanyaki stake and chicken were not good at all, not freshly prepared. I would not visit again and also don t recommend.

Everything was a miss here. Extremely small lot so look to park on a nearby residential street and walk across. Chair at our table was dirty with food on it. I can tell the iPads never get sanitized because there were a ton of fingerprints all over it. A lot of the food is drenched in the same ginger-sesame type of sauce. Generally this is a way of hiding tasteless food that might previous frozen or about to go bad. They forgot things that were on our order and also tried to give us the wrong dishes a few time which we had to correct the waitstaff on. A lot of this was common behaviour for AYCE restaurants that first opened 10 years ago when there was no competition. Alas, this is in Burlington so there is no competition and they can get away with this type of food.

The quality of sushi and sashimi is similar to other all-you-can-eat restaurants. The grilled salmon salad is delicious, the deli portion is average, the grilled shrimp is of varying quality, and the desserts are pretty good. The location is very crowded, and you often have to go back and forth while waiting to get in. There are not enough parking spaces and it is not easy to park.

I find the great food is let down by the poor service, several times now we have been and several times we have had the same issues, great food, poor servers. They bring things you didnt order and dont look happy when you ask them to take it away, they also can stroppy when we asked for simple things like knife and fork, seemed on last two visits that it was an issue, seemed even worse when we asked them to get another for another member of the party, but all they had to do was ask if anyone else required it when we originally asked, go that extra mile. Parking: There is a very limited number of spots when the place is busy.

One of my favourite August 8 locations. The serving sizes are a lot better than most (look at the size of the eel and salmon), most places in Hamilton give out paper thin pieces of fish haha. Highly suggest going when they first open because of parking lot (easy to get in and out, but not a lot of parking spots).

It is exactly what you want in an AYCE restaurant. Glad that the prices are better for lunch. Affordable

What happened to August 8? This used to be our Go-To dim sum and sushi place until we found Wind Restaurants in St.Catharines and Niagara Falls a few years ago. We came today because we were in Burlington to August 8. Wow, it has gone downhill! The quality of food andthe lack of service was bad. No hostess to greet guests or skip drivers. Waited a while to get seated , when lots of seats available. Had to ask multiple times for chopsticks and forks. Asked 3 different servers for soy sauce before we got any. Isnt soy sauce a staple at these restaurants? Why do we need to ask for it? The rolls lacked flavour. They definitely needed the soy sauce. Overall, not impressed. This used to be the best August 8 location too. Sad. We wont be back.

We came here because this is my partner s favourite childhood spot. In my many visits over the years, the food have gotten worse and worse and worse. Today I had the unfortunate experience of eating here again. Almost all our favourite food items lost their charm, the shrimp was unseasoned, the eel sushi felt like it was without sprit, and the chicken wings tasted rancid. What were formerly somewhat fresh ingredients have been replaced with obvious frozen low grade food. This is a sad development as we used to visit here 5-8 times in a year, sadly, after returning many plats of food, I do not believe we will be coming back.

All you can eat dinner buffet was great. Lots of options even if you are on keto diet. Service was great too. My 10 year old and I left the restaurant too happy and too full :)

We went for a family dinner and were surprised by the size and function of the parking lot. It is very small with one opening for entry and exit. First suggestion is to carpool if you are meeting others for a meal. We ordered food and the dishes came very quickly but we could tell the servers just wanted to drop off as quickly as possible and move on to the next table. I understand that it was a very busy dinner service but literally dropping dishes or handing it off to customers and walking away as fast as you can wasnt the greatest experience. The food quality is great with no complaints but there were a few instances where items we ordered did not make it to the table at all. We noticed that a lot of people ordered takeout from here so if you want to just get great food and skip out of the hassle of parking and missing items that would probably be the best route to go.

Holy cow! Amazing, best sushi I have ever had tbh, I m from Toronto and stoped by today and wowzaaaa.

Service was very quick and the food was delicious! The torched sushi was yummy, along with the sashimi. However, it is a medium-sized restaurant and has an equally small parking lot. Wheelchair friendly Food : 5/5 |

Another visit to August 8. The service was great. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was much better than our last visit.

Me and my friend got tummy ach and diarrhea all day after we ate there yesterday! I thought some food items might not be fresh but this never happened to me before. I always like Hamilton s location but burlington s location, NEVER AGAIN!

My boyfriend and I had the all you can eat lunch yesterday. We were underwhelmed and disappointed. The sushi did not taste fresh, and was not well presented. It was also not appetizing when there was hair in the food when I ordered the beef teriyaki. I don t think that s acceptable and not sanitary at all. The staff were nice but I would not come here again.

Great location, service is always so fast and attentive

This is our family go-to place for all you can eat sushi. The quality and service here are consistently great. I cant count how many times weve been here over the years.

August 8, all you can eat lunches are fabulous - the system to order is easy, typically when you get there before or at 12 there isnt a long line up to get seated. Didnt need a reservation. Ordering food is quick, and depending on how busy it is gets out in 5-10min. Price is decent, but has definitely gotten much more expensive than even 5y ago.

The decor and the ambience is not at all appealing. The dim lights, and few non working light lamps, do not allow you to enjoy the food visually. Seated close to the entrance, on a cold day, can add to the misery, when guests open and exit the restaurant. The food and service is good, but the decor was a real damper. They do offer a good desert serving with candle and singing, for a birthday celebration. That was really good.

Sashimi was great. Sushi was great too. I only gave 4 stars because there is always room for improvement. Sarah did a good job getting the food to us in a timely manner. Thanks.

I ordered the food at 9:24 , for 45 min until I got the fried squid.
