Global small plates & Spanish tapas with an extensive wine & drink menu in an easygoing setting.
Stopped for brunch. Enjoyed the food - the brunch menu is pretty great. The servers were kind. My partner didn’t enjoy his drink too much and I didn’t like my coffee at all - which I think has to be great - especially at brunch. It was too bitter for my taste. I’d probably return but only if I was in the area.
A great vibe for tappa dishes. The food was tasty and it just felt like there was a real buzz. Especial recommend the artichokes with pesto. Some of the dishes were just ok (the Diablo shrimp for example), but overall it would be a great spot to catch up with a friend or a casual date.
Table of 2 , shared a spinach pepper pizza ($19) and traditional paella ($29). Both were so flavourful. The chicken in the paella had a smoked flavour and the pizza had the right balance of sweet to spiciness from the jalapeño peppers. We tried 2 dishes but suspect anything off this menu will be delicious. Great ambiance - a good date night spot!
"I absolutely love the customer service here! The staff is amazing, and the Seafood Lovers dish was a delight. Definitely a place I’d recommend to all seafood fans!".
Came here late night after work with my father and thoroughly enjoyed my time. This is a place where the experience isn’t primarily driven by the food but rather the ambience and hospitality. Although the food wasn’t amazing it was still enjoyable, the patatas bravas were a bit disappointing but otherwise the other two burrata dishes we had were pretty good. The lamb reminded me of a bone broth and although a bit lacking in flavour was still very pleasant. No real complaints about the tomato, olive burrata concoction thingy, tasted good! Same can be said about the cocktails. Negroni was basically just gin, but maybe I am just a wimp, however the pisco sour was nice. The real star of the show was the live music. I was surprised that they played classics among other songs such as songs from the smiths (please please…) that played a large role in our enjoyment of our time here. Not to mention, the service, accommadative even at 10pm right before their kitchen closes. They went out of their way to heat up bread even at this late of an hour. Overall had a great time, definitely reccomend to try out, if not for the food for the live music and we will definitely be back!
First experience for 3 of us which we all enjoyed. Wonderful atmosphere. Large variety for their tapas menu and regular menu. Food was unique and delicious. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Server Lucas was very accommodating and helpful.
Incredible first experience at Barra Fion! We walked in without reservations on a Friday evening but were able to sit us at the bar top. We order the mixed grill platter, Mediterranean salad and sizzling mushrooms… Wow, wow, wow! The flavour profiles of each dish were outstanding, chef’s kiss! The atmosphere and vibe was on point but to make things even better, there was an incredible solo guitarist, John Rogers.. he’s VERY talented! We can’t wait to return, try some new plates and see John play again! P.s. can you please add bacon wrapped dates to the menu ;)
Really enjoyed the food, nice assortment of tapas to pick from. The drinks were perfect and really liked the atmosphere. Because of the open area it can get a bit loud with a large group. The service was great however our meal got mixed up and had to wait a long time, we did have a large group so it can happen. Would go back for a dinner date.
Food
BEWARE OF CHRISTY We visited the restaurant with our children and specifically requested corner seats to prevent them from wandering around. The staff assured us it was fine, and children wouldn t be an issue. However, about 30 minutes into our meal, the manager, Christy, approached us rudely, complaining about the children. When we tried to explain, she interrupted, responded dismissively, and walked off. Despite few waitresses being polite and accommodating, the manager s unprofessional behavior ruined our dining experience. Kid-friendliness: NOT AT ALL. BEWARE OF CHRISTY
Worth going back
Tacos are soooo goood!
Ive been wanting to check out Barra Fion for a while now and when I saw that they do Brunch, I canceled a previous reservation to go there instead. As the Cher song goes If I could turn back time.... We had a reservation for 2 for 12pm. I saw 1 table of 9 and a table of 2 when we got there. 1 server and 2 kitchen staff. With a full view of everything, here were some of my observations: 1. In what universe does a reputable restaurant owner think that its OK to have only 1 server (fairly new from what she said) working on a Sunday Brunch/Lunch alone. This poor girl was seating people, setting tables, cleaning tables, making drinks and serving food and answering the phone - all by herself!! 2. There were 2 guys working in the kitchen. They were moving SO slowly that the server was often times standing there, waiting for the food to come out. I think one of the guys was new or on loan or something and he definitely didnt have much motivation to be there. 3. The Food. We didnt see any food at our table for about an hour. We ordered Tortilla Española (Spanish Omelette) Skillet, Barras Eggs Benedict, a side of Tarragon Frites and Churros. *The Spanish Omelette was super bland. Saving grace was the tomato sauce and sourdough toast. *Eggs Benedict ...poached Eggs were rock solid. The only reason I didnt send them back was because I was afraid Id have to wait half hour for a new plate. *Tarragon Frites - I noticed they fried them up and put them in a metal bowl to sit under the heat lamp. They sat there for almost 10 minutes. Then they put them back into a fryer and flash fried them to reheat them. So that means the fries soaked up the grease not once, but twice. Did they think we wouldnt notice?! GROSS! *Churros ... They were yummy. Based on our Brunch experience there, we wont be going back for Brunch ... lunch or dinner. Im someone who loves Brunch and I dont think Ive ever been so disappointed..... and to pay $84 for that disappointment was heartbreaking. I felt really bad for the server and I tipped her accordingly because she deserved better. Save your money and go somewhere else for a quality Brunch.
This place rules. My new go-to date night spot
We ordered an array of tapas and every single thing we had was delicious. First time here and the service and quality of the food was so good. Food
We got reservation at 5:30pm and they told us 7:30 you need to get out. Food was ok but it was overpriced for quality of food. :/ Then around 6:20 she comes and say make sure you need to get out by 6:30. I was like seriously, .. Im not coming back sorry. Food
Christa is an amazing boss and the chef Ben the best besides Ashley making it great time
Ordered on SkipTheDishes 5 PM order total came to $86 and was so looking forward to the items I had selected. Approximately 10 minutes later I get a message saying my order has been canceled. No reason given. And you don t get your money back it goes onto credit with skip the dish which means my $85 Now sits on account and I have to find another restaurant to patronize, as I don t get the money back But I don t feel like any other restaurant as my craving was for Barra Fion. Disappointing
Such an awesome fun and delicious experience here! Vegetarian options: They have the most imaginative tasty tapas. Artichokes with pesto, olive tapenade! Beet salad with hot honey dressing. A tomato chutney that was magic! I hear that the mushrooms are amazing too. Desserts were great. The meat eatèrs had a great time too Wheelchair accessibility: One party member was mobility impaired. Access was not a problem.
The food was great. The service was friendly, and the place was pretty cozy. Their tapas is some of the best Ive had.
I hope this was just a one time experience but I felt that I needed to make a review. As someone who has celiac, it is really hard for me to eat out and I had heard great things about the food and the staff at this restaurant for accommodating for celiac people. Trust me, I know the whole spiel about there not being a guarantee about no gluten due to cross contamination but I was fine to try from the reviews I had seen on some gluten free review apps. Unfortunately, when we got there, the host (who was also the bartender) wasnt very pleased to see us, but hey, everyone has bad days. He sat us in a nearly empty restaurant other than another table so I had high hopes about the ability for my food to be made celiac safe. When we came over, he was really unfriendly and honestly I just tried to give him the benefit of the doubt until it came to our order. As I was trying to order, I have to tell people about my allergies because celiac is severe and I have nut allergies too that... yk... can kill me. As I was trying to explain to him that I have celiac, he cut me off in the middle rolling his eyes saying the whole thing about how they cant guarantee anything. This was not only rude but also belittling. Then I asked if the fries were gluten free as in are they cooked in the same fryer as gluten containing items (since it reads GLUTEN FREE on the menu when it isnt gluten free it is gluten FRIENDLY which is not for anyone with celiac or allergies so it shouldnt say that) and he cut me off again saying it was in a fryer that had gluten items so no I couldnt do that. Again, the tone was so unwelcoming and all we wanted was to explain my situation to the waiter. I further asked about the Mexican street corn salad (again, labelled GF) and he said very passive aggressively well does it sayyy gluten free I said yes and he responded then it is. I was shocked and also sad like I am not someone who makes reviews and I know how bad restaurants are accommodating for gluten free BUT if you cant you cant! Im not going to complain when staff can communicate that they have too much cross contamination or they arent safe for me to eat that is fine. What ISNT fine it belittling a 20 year old girl for trying to explain her allergies, dismissing her and not letting her finish her sentences and trying to do the order as fast as possible so he could continue to talk to another worker at the bar and play on his phone in an AGAIN nearly empty restaurant. I really do want to eat here, especially because I have heard good things about food and staff! However, it just totally made me disappointed and scared to return because I dont want to be made to feel like that in situations where I shouldnt be. I am just as deserving of being served and served safely as anyone else. I didnt catch his name but I really hope he doesnt treat anyone else like that because that was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant - my partner and I just ended up packing the food away and leaving. This is my experience and my experience alone. I am in no way saying not to eat here, I really did hear great things and still do from my loved ones, but for me as someone with celiac disease, this was beyond hurtful
Went for dinner with my Husband Saturday night. We had an amazing experience. Our server was Ashley. She was super friendly and very attentive. The bartender lady made an amazing Manhattan and the mussels were amazing with the goat cheese. Would highly recommend this place. The drinks, food, and service were top notch.
The only thing good about it was the view of the lake. The food was no comment. Service was great, but the price is way too high not recommended sorry.
Totally disappointed! Arrived just before 6 for Tappas Hour. Told we couldnt sit anywhere but the bar. There were empty tables. (We left at 7 with still empty tables) The bartender was terrible, gave us our first drink and an order. Never offered our second glass of wine (our glasses sat empty for about 15 minutes) He walked up and down the bar area at least 8 times that I counted, ignored us and we were the only patrons at the bar. He occasionally filled drink orders for the servers and spent most of his time on his cell phone at the end of the bar. He had the personality of a tree stump. We then asked to speak with someone in charge. No one on staff was in authority. Perhaps the reason for poor attention
Great food and atmosphere. Terrific venue and service - a great place to gather with friends and family. Thanks Barra Fion - I will see you soon :)
Felt very rushed. Rushed our orders and drinks. It seemed like they all wanted to go home early. Food wasn t very good as well. charcuterie board was not worth the price. Servers were friendly though.
Got the large traditional paella. It was great.
Hidden gem of Burlington Excellent seafood. Great service. The plaza looks like nothing but the restaurant is standing out! Definitely come back and recommend to everyone Food : 5/5 |
Try the tacos!! Absolutely delicious!!! Parking: Easy to find a spot Food : 5/5 |
The mixed grill is excellent and the Mexican corn salad is the best Ive had anywhere. They were very busy and only had one waitress who could serve alcohol so quite slow but they were doing their best to keep up with a surprisingly busy Monday night. A great meal. Good spot.
I had an amazing time at Barra Fion! Lukas was incredibly welcoming and respectful, making me feel right at home. I want to thank Lukas for introducing me to peanut whisky, it was a delightful and unique experience.
Still okay not as good as it used to be. But not a chain restaurant tapas and pallea were very good. Nice wines reminds us of Europe foods but no longer quite there. Crème brûlée was excellent.
I LOVE this place! The food is awesome! Even though they offer seafood and I m fatally allergic to it I ve never had problems with my order there - in hindsight I ll let them know next time onwards. I was visiting from Texas and made it a point to stop and get my favorite wild mushrooms paella! Cozy and very relaxing atmosphere. I m really thankful this place is so close to my Canada home, I look forward to visiting more frequently when i move back. Thanks guys!
Went here for the first time the other day. Chicken tacos were excellent, truffle frites were okay. Service was great, our server was very kind and helpful. The place had live music and the performer was ok, but the main thing is that it was at a good volume - you could still have a conversation just fine. Overall I d come back and try more!
Told three times (!) upon arriving that we had to be out by 7. Our plates were cleared as we were eating and we were told Your time is almost up. Food was just OK lacked flavour and was very oily. Cocktails were forgettable.
They gave us a coupon for buy one brunch and get one free on Sundays in April but they were closed on Sundays. That s very odd.
Great food, friendly staff. Good sized portions. Will return.
Called in three times to try to order for takeout no one answered, thought they were busy, so I had to drive for 30 minutes to place the order in person. When I arrived it wasn t super busy. The girl at the greeting table told me it ll take 50 minutes for paella. I asked why was no one answering the phone as I called in a few times 30 min ago and really didn t get a good answer. Very lost and disorganized. I can appreciate it s a popular restaurant in the area but the way they treat customers leaves a great deal to be desired.
Good experience at Barra Fion. Walked in without a reservation on Friday night, and were able to get seated right away. Ordered the coffee-rubbed steak and the piri piri chicken, both were okay. We werent asked how we wanted our steak cooked which I thought was strange, and it came a bit well done. The piri piri chicken had good flavours. Regarding the atmosphere, there was live music which we didnt know and due to how open concept the restaurant is, the sound travelled quite a bit and was fairly loud.
Went for our 20th anniversary. Food was amazing. Our server (didnt get his name but 6ft giant) was great. Would definitely recommend for date night or a girls night out.
First time here Tuesday for happy hour! Everything was prepared with just as much love as the ala carte dishes. Delicious flavor. Ice cold beer. Friendly staff. Coming back soon!
Great value for amazing flavors. We will be back. Quite a good scotch selection as well.
Great location to come with a significant other or friends. The wife and I enjoyed a rare date night here. Food, service, and atmosphere were all great. They had live entertainment on Saturday night. Definitely recommend.
Great food, great environment! The tarragon shrimp, olive tapenade, patatas bravas and buffalo cauliflower were delicious. Will be back!!

Arrived for our reserved table at correct time. Hostess asked my name and I gave her my last name. She said there was no table reserved we could sit at bar. I told her we just drove an hour and had reserved a table. She laughed hystericaly the entire time which I found wierd. I asked her what was so funny and she laughed even more to the extent I asked her if she was high. Rather then discuss with her I asked for the manager. The manager then came to the front and cleared up the table issue which apparently was under my first rather then last name. The manager then told me was all my fault as I hadnt given the right name and that I was quote aggressive with the hostess. I said what there was no aggression there were definitely questions as there should be and the hysterical laughter was inappropriate as was her unsubstantiated claim that we were aggressive in any way. Anyway told the manager that the manager was not very professional either. Ended up having a great meal, was served by a very professional waitress and enjoyed the musician. To bad things had to start on a completely unnecessary note.
Little gem in Burlington, this place exceeded our expectations.. from the service to the delicious food and the ambience, everything was perfect. Highly recommend to try at least once! Vegetarian options: Plenty of veg options
Great taste
Probably wont eat here again - food was just okay. Service was great though! We got the olive tapinade and it was EXTREMELY salty to the point we took one bite and couldnt eat anymore of it. The beet and goat cheese dish was just okay and so was their margarita pizza. It was nothing amazing. Service and atmosphere were terrific though. Vegetarian options: There were about 6 or 7 vegetarian options.
Great atmosphere and even better food! We got the mixed grill plate and cornbread
Our first time here and Sarah, our server, and I hope Im spelling her name correctly, was amazing! Her gluten free recommendations for my wife were great. From the chicken tacos, to the pizza and the cheesecake... DE-LISH... my pork sliders were what I called a plate of messy deliciousness! If you like pork and fried eggs, this is a MUST try. MAKE A RESERVATION... I didnt but we were hesitantly placed a table next to the kitchen but in all honesty, it was a great view of the artistry of the kitchen staff... we will be returning with friends and family!
What looks like a hole in the wall from the outside is a great atmosphere inside! The portions sizes are larger than expected which was a welcomed surprise. First was the breaded cauliflower which was big chunks of caluliflower and good amounts of breading. Then was the curry chicken poutine which has way more curry and chicken on it than i expected, which is a preference thing and not necessarily bad. Next was the piri piri chicken which I would have expected to be a bit spicier but nevertheless the less good. The best part of the menu was the bee sting pizza. A perfectly balanced pizza, not cheap on the toppings and a nice thin crust. To top off the evening, a live piano player was there. Perfect volume to still chat and enjoy the company you would with. Would 100% go back and looking forward to it. Dietary restrictions: Plenty GF and veg options available
The food was well prepared and very satisfying. The Tapas were generally large portions and were great for sharing. Although its a small place, the seating didnt feel cramped, and live music started around 7:00 which was a nice touch.
Ive ordered takeout from here twice. Both times, the food was amazing. Great selection of tapas. Friendly staff. Im definitely coming back for a dine in experience next time. Food
Went here for a quick date night while our son was at a class. We tried 4 tapas items and everything was really good especially the steak skewer. The steak was just melting in the mouth. As we were in a hurry to pick up our son, they were kind enough to rush out dessert order and pack it for us. The churros are yummmm..
Awesome experience. Food was delicious and unique with excellent service. Sangria was really good. The live music was a wonderful addition to the night. We will definitely be back. Thanks for the great night.
Good food, service was average. Atmosphere on a Saturday night was very busy. Recommend making a reservation. May go back at a less busy time.
Hi love the food and atmosphere and great server.
No bright ads, hard to find place, but open a door and from the boring parking lot you will teleport to another universe. A hidden gem with delicious food (try mussels with goat cheese!), wine on tap, awesome cocktails and a pleasant atmosphere. Mon-Fri happy hour is a bargain, great tapas and mules for $8. Just double check your bill to make sure you will have a discount price in a bill, not the full one - the only thing which spoiled an impression. Desserts were quite usual: tried strawberry cheesecake and creme-brulee. Will try churros next time.
Very nice place. Super friendly staff and great food and atmosphere at a fair price.
Lovely place with great food and awesome service. Google review says price 30 per person , not even close. We ordered 5 tapas and 4 drinks in total and it is 140 in total, 70/pp.
Easy parking. Place is clean. Good service, staff friendly. Food taste good, however the calamari and octopus were tough. My jaw got a good workout. Paella good. Tapas good. Food size reasonable. Mojito could use a bit more mint leaves. Churos ok.
Loved this place ! The aroma of stone oven welcomes you at the door ! Food was wonderful and delicious- authentic. Great customer service from Brenda ! Love the ambiance as welll !
Mushroom paella was great. Very friendly service and reasonably priced.
I have been to many restaurants but this one has to be my favourite. The food is outstanding for the price you pay. They also have amazing live music.
Went with my wife and mother on mothers day. Staff was attentive and food was great. Will be going back.
This place is a gem. All the food we had was wonderful! Highly recommend Food
First time dining experience. Good tapas menu with a friendly vibe and staff. Worth a visit!
What a little treasure this place is!! Great atmosphere, greaþ staff, great food!
Tonight will be our 3rd visit to Barra Fione this month!!! Amazingly fresh and wonderfully plated tapas, delicious thin crust pizza from the wood fire oven are sure to tantalize our tastebuds once again! The kicker is the fresh made churros delish!!! Friendly customer service, ambiance and prices are excellent. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights is an added bonus just adore the vibe here! LOVED the $20 bottle of wine, as a clear out special because the menu was changing! A PERFECT LITTLE REGULAR HANG OUT SPOT WITH LOTS OF FREE PARKING!!! See u again tonight! Carole and Tony .
Paella was really good
Very poor value. I was shocked at the size of the portions vis-a-vis the cost. The taste of the food was good. Parking: Located in a plaza with many available parking spots, perhaps 50 at most times.
Been there 3 times recently. Its our new favorite.
Came for a date night Wednesday evening. Very quiet being mid week. We ordered a few items to share, Chorizo shrimp Satays - not bad, little on the bland side and it s exactly what it is, chorizo and shrimp that s all. Patatas bravas - sauce was great, we loved these and was a great portion Honey pistachio manchego - I love manchego so this was an easy sell, great and classic pairing. Mussels - white wine, cooked great, but very bland , needed salt We sat at the bar , bartender seemed nice, but not much personality, never really checked in to see how things were, cocktails were good, espresso martini was great . Overall would definitely return, want to try a few more things on the menu
Phenomenal dining experience! Best churros, lifetime.
First visit, everything was fantastic. Definitely recommend a trip.
The food was excellent. However, it would have been preferred that our dishes came at the same time. My husbands dish took longer to prepare, and he sat with no food while the 3 of us already had our meals. Other than the timing of our dishes being served, I will definitely go back.
I mean it s THE BEST RESTAURANT EVER! It s the first time in my life that I absolutely love every single plate a restaurant serves! The atmosphere is great too!!
Highly recommend, even if it s out of the way. Tasty food with a great vibe. Bartender was speaking to my soul with those mixes and I ll definitely be back. Churros and skewers are must.
I wanted to go somewhere with my girlfriends to catch up. We went on a Saturday night, not knowing that there was live music. Personally, I wouldve preferred somewhere quieter in this instance. If you want something lively, this would be a good place on a Saturday night. I ordered a mojito and it honestly tasted like water. There was absolutely no taste to it. No taste of mint, lime or any booze. I ordered the garlic cream artichokes and there was no taste to it either. The roasted garlic baked brie was promising, but the bacon jam was too sweet for my liking so kind of ruined that dish for me. I also ordered the traditional paella and that was the only dish that I liked. We didnt bother with dessert because we just wanted to get out of there because it was too loud and we just wanted to talk to each other. Honestly, I dont know if I would recommend this place after my first experience.
I love Barra, I worked there when it first opened for a few years and have never stopped loving it since! My husband and I love the goat cheese muscles and the tacos so much! We will never stop coming here and always recommending it to friends! Get yourself the espresso martini, I promise you won t be disappointed! The pizza is phenomenal as well.
I had lunch at Barra Fion last week with a colleague. The place was busy and buzzing. We ordered a couple of pizzas and a couple of glasses of wine which both hit the spot. The server was kind and attentive, and the food came out hot and quick. I really couldn t have asked for more, and I m looking forward to coming back soon!
Very relaxing; great food and great service! The music was great...well done overall!
Always heard about this place having lived here forever. A diamond in the Burlington rough. Great tasting tapas, with good sized portions and decent beer menu. Service was spot on (unusual for Burlington) especially for Monday night. 4 X Tapas 1 X salad 2 X drinks Less than $100 including tax before tip Ill be coming back for sure. Vegetarian options: Plenty of options for vegans
Very very nice place. That makes you feel like you in Spain ! Nice music also ! Come back again 100% Food : 5/5 |
Ordered the truffle fries and traditional paella. Food was delicious and friendly staff!
Tasty food and drinks
Lovely place and the live music added to the atmosphere. Food was good. Cocktails were average (too much ice). The Buffalo cauliflower and truffle frites were very tasty my wife and I ordered the mushroom and seafood paella respectively. It was disappointing that the paella didn t come in the iron pan it was cooked in. The seafood was great, but rice was average. The taste from the iron pans was missing overall, a lively place to visit again!
We went for dinner and the food was amazing. The potion size for tapas are very good. I recommend to try this gem in Burlington. I will definitely go there again. Vegetarian options: Good selection of vegetarian options!!
Food was amazing. Was seated at the bar no issues. The hostess was great. Bartender lacked personality and charisma and unfortunately the drinks were not impressive despite such a long drinks list and watered down. Will come back and hopefully get better drinks.
An amazing finding, a gem :) I visited two nights in a row. Great food, super clean place and good service. Highly recommend.
Good food but the service seriously needs some work. We were a table of 4 and ordered 3 appetizers (tapas) and 2 came out at the same time. Then 1 entree came, so we asked the server what happened to our third app since we assumed our other entrees were soon to follow. We were told the kitchen was very busy and it would be out shortly. It did come out about 5 minutes later. Everyone at the table still had food to eat, but it was about another 10 minutes before the second entree came out. At this point it was almost 15 minutes since the first entree had arrived and only half our table had their meals. 5 minutes later entree 3 came out, and another 5 minutes after that, entree 4 finally arrived as the first two members of our party were finishing their meals. I understand restaurant kitchens get busy on weekends, but this is something that should never happen in the restaurant business. There should never be 25 minutes between the first and last meals arriving at a table. At the absolute most, it shouldnt be more than 5 minutes. This shows really horrible planning by the kitchen staff and management. Our servers were also completely oblivious to how unacceptable this was and never even acknowledged how strange it was that they were clearing the plate of one guest immediately after bringing the meal of another guest at the table. A restaurant needs to be more than just good food.
Sorry to say that service and food quality were not their usual caliber... We love the owners and the vibe of this place but my octopus was sitting in a half cup of oil, my drink took nearly 20 minutes to get to me and our waiter wasnt interested in our comments. I write this review merely to let the owners know.
Great food, Great Ambience, Amazing service and music. Will definitely go back soon
Went last night for taste of Burlington and was blown away with the taste of the food, the nice selection of cocktails and service was fantastic! It was my first time going but assure you it won t be my last. Bravo!
Went here on a Saturday night and honestly I dont understand all the positive reviews; maybe we just got unlucky and came on an off night? The portions were expected for a tapas restaurant but the taste and quality just werent there... then we got to the pulled pork sliders which were literally inedible. The meat was grey-looking and bland, almost tasted off. I dont understand how pulled pork could be prepared that poorly. Fortunately that was our last food order of the night so we just paid and left. Two stars for the cocktails being strong and for our server giving us free drinks after forgetting to put one of our orders in, but overall super disappointed.
Great food and awesome staff.
Had a fantastic time. Enjoyed the vibe and the delicious food. We opted for tapas, and tried the manchego, hoisin button mushrooms, Mexican street corn salad with shrimp, and fish tacos. Our favourite was the corn salad. Smokey and delicious. Manchego was awesome too. One suggestion: make the portions smaller like true tapas size and charge a couple dollars less for each dish. We were expecting small plates but everything was full appetizer size. We were very full! Delicious food and great service. Well be back to try the rest of the menu.
One of our favourites in Burlington. Food is great. Wait staff excellent. Great wine selection and decent choice of beers beyond the usual suspects.
Loved this place! Pleasantly surprised, cocktails were delish and shared some delish tapas, will be back to try more. Live music on a Saturday night was great touch
Decided to dine at Barra Fion after reading the highly rated reviews. Can honestly say we had just an ok experience. Welcome person: not welcoming at all, barely a smile and almost try to put us off by saying that it would take 20 mins for a table. 2 minutes later a table became free. Food: we ordered the Parmesan potatoes- blah, pork sliders- delicious, large paella- did not taste like paella at all and the chicken was raw. When we brought it to the attention of the server she agreed to have it cooked some more but no apology whatsoever. After 10 minutes another server brought our chicken back and just plopped it on the table saying here s your chicken No apology or anything. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant.
Love all the food and deserve to try again
A wonderful meal with great atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
The service is extremely friendly, and the menu items are all amazing. Everything is very flavorful and unique. Prices are very reasonable as well.
Food was generally good, fresh and hot. The chicken satay was not good. The featured Pizza was decent.
Great experience.
I am a regular customer here and ordered 2 pizzas on their $12 pizza night. When the bill came, I was charged full price and after asking why, I was told they werent featured pizzas. Why wasnt this mentioned when I ordered? They never even said what the featured pizzas are! What made things worse is that I ordered the same 2 pizzas a few weeks ago and got the advertised $12 price. The manager clearly makes the rules as she goes. As a customer for over 4 years I am very disappointed.
I did not expect Barcelona tapas in Burlington, ON. However, I was hoping for a nice dining experience on a Saturday night with my husband. One of the small plates in particular was not edible. The chicken satay...the colour did NOT look right. I had a little bite but that was enough for me! It tasted bland. The texture was also really odd. Reminded me of rubbery boiled chicken. I told the employee who cleared our plates that I could not eat the chicken satay. She replied: It will make a good meal for a DOG. What??? Well, I wouldnt even serve that chicken satay to my pet. Also, our pitcher of Sangria tasted more like sugared Fruit Punch. For a Saturday Night, this restaurant was NOT hopping. People were straggling in but there were still lots of available seats. For dessert, I ordered coffee and the raspberry yoghurt cake, hoping to end our night on a sweet note. The raspberry cake was really bright red. The coffee was bland. I took a few sips. My husband left a tip, to be polite. However, well never be back. Theres a first and a last time for everything. Our bill for two people, with the tip was a little over $100.00.
Will be back many times. Plenty of delicious food and drink options, live music too!
Just had the most amazing meal here! The food was absolutely perfect and the service was great as always!
An all-time great of Greater-Oakville-Area Spanish food. Lets begin the review. The ambiance: solid. Good lighting, interior is nice enough, theyve got some fun stuff going on. The bar looks pretty cool. The service: solid. our waitress was really nice and gave us some helpful tips and such when applicable. She also brought us complimentary bread after we asked even though they dont normally offer it. Lovely. The food: mm mm mmmm. Delicious. As 4 hungry young boys, we shared the Patatas Bravas (so value for $8, so good), Chorizo & Shrimp Diablo (its like a little pot of the stuff that you dip bread into, was also amazing), a Traditional Paella (yum), and the Signature Mixed Grill large plate (scrumptious, and the street corn salad was 10/10). The meal came out to ~$25 a person before tip, split 4 ways. So all in all, the food was seriously amazing. Every single thing we got blew me away. I was really impressed. So much flavour. Will definitely be coming back!!!
Delicious choices of tapas plates, great ambience, friendly staff. Overall an amazing experience!
My wife and I were searching for a Tapas place and come across Barra Fion. We enjoyed several dishes, sitting out on the patio on a beautiful evening. Lindsey was a wonderful host and went over and beyond to provide us a most welcoming culinary experience. I knocked off my glass of beer (clumsy of me!) which was promptly replaced at no extra cost! The tapas helpings are designed to cater to (the larger) North American appetites! Another feature worthy of note - the staff and management appears to be entirely female; brava! Will be back soon, thanks.
My wife and I eat out regularly, so we were looking for a change from our regular spots. Barra Fion came up in a Google search, reviews were great, so we decided to go. The food is amazing, nice atmosphere with live music. Absolutely the best meal we have had in a while. Highly recommend!
Love Love this place!! If you love mussels this is your place to go! There mussels are packed with flavour they make a delicious flank skewer on a bed of a yummy-licious sauce with a hint of spiciness there paella is packed with beautiful flavours. They lost my one star because they don t serve enough bread to soak up all that goodness in the mussels:) It s a must try!! Reasonable prices!
Goof food, service and prices. Spanish restaurant with stone oven pizza. Margherita was full cheese pizza, not usual spotty cheese like others. Good amount of cheese, tasty sauce, thin crispy crust. Mediterranean salad was very fresh. Signature mixed grill is served on a wooden plank- 3 skewers - flank steak, piri piri chicken, shrimp with chorizo (spicy sausage). All were tasty. Steak was fatty like Korean beef ribs, chicken was dark meat. Served with potatoes- I have alternative potatoes- garlic sauce and spicy ketchup. Comes with Mexican Streetcorn salad- lots of corn, some red pepper, onion and sauce and topped with feta. If there a lot of people, it can be fairly loud. Large patio outside. Mature serving staff. Serve tap water in chilled bottles. Servers dont get upset if you dont order drinks, which was a nice change. Large drink menu available, but we didnt get anything. Couple TVs showing sports. Highly recommended. Some nice unique dishes. Pork sliders looked really good. Vegetarian options: Salads, pizza, fries, cauliflower, potatoes, Parking: In a plaza with a lot of parking.
We ve been here a few times and LOVE this place! The food is so so good!! Tried different things and everything has been so delicious!! We ve had the pleasure of Denise serving us every time we ve been- she s so friendly, efficient and just awesome at what she does! Love everyone here-thank you for a great dinner always!
The food is amazing! The service is even better must try the Mexican shrimp salad and the steak skewers and the churros are right die for
Never a bad meal here. One of my favorite spots in Burlington.
Friendly service saved our meal. It has been a few years since we last tried Barra Fiona and it wasnt much better than we last remembered. The mixed grill platter was underwhelming except for the garlic parmesan potatoes. The piri piri chicken skewers and flank steak skewers both lacked flavour. The forest mushroom on toast was good. Biggest disappointment of all was the grilled calamari and octopus. The octopus was perfectly cooked but needed more flavour. The calamari had no flavour at all and were undercooked mushy.
Excellent customer service. Family friendly restaurant. Food taste amazing! Must try paella and pizza! Beautiful atmosphere. Felt like home. We even accidentally broke a wine glass and they were great about it! First time here and definitely coming back. Thank you for the service.
It was so good that I didn t have the time to take pictures lol. First time here and I will definitely be back. The pizza was AMAZING, good size to share. Fresh, delicious food and friendly staff.
Great little restaurant! I gave it 3 stars because our waitress was a beginner and made a fair number of mistakes. The calamari in 2 of our dishes was severely overcooked and barely edible. The paella was excellent except the calamari! I would go back.
Evening was excellent, cheers!
They dont know to make the fancy drinks on the menu ....not impressed Server was nice but the feeling was not enjoyable Food was ok
Great food and place. And thanks for finding my cell phone :)
Amazing drinks, service, ambiance and delicious food. Lots of vegetarian/vegan options to select fr9m and some of the best mocktails as well. Looking forward to visiting again soon!!
We preordered the Christmas dinner from Barra Fíon Tapas & Barrel. The dinner was excellent, we will definitely do this again. Support local businesses and have more time to spend with your family. Merry Christmas #BarraFion #curbsidepickup #christmasdinner #supportlocal
Having never ordered from here, we tried the Valentine s Day special and were blown away. Easily the best takeaway meal we have had during COVID. We will definitely be trying the main menu.
Terrific food and service!
Made a reservation for my father s birthday. I brought in some balloons and flowers ahead of time and asked the staff if they could place things nicely at the table. When we showed up everything was beautifully arranged. The staff exceeded my expectations. Throughout the night the service, food, and drinks were all amazing. I d give Barra Fion ten stars if I could. Thanks to everyone there for the great hospitality!
Amazing value for fine dining quality food. Check out their date night specials. Amazing!
The best tapas food in town! Awesome service!
Had the Mothers Day menu, ordered seafood paella, mushroom paella and churros. Everything was so amazing, the lady who greeted me at the front was very pleasant. Could not recommend more
The pizzas here were amazing! Great service as well. We had a bunch of other tapas and were impressed with them all. The corn salad could have been a bit larger as I really enjoyed it and wished there was more. Overall would definitely return as everything was fresh and we felt like we got great value.
To be honest, I was a little hesitant to try this place due to its location in a strip plaza. However...I wish I had a long time ago. It is excellent! The food was great. Everything seemed well thought out and made with care, yet not obnoxiously priced. I think weve found a new go-to spot for special nights or get togethers with friends.
This whole experience was just really bad. The food and the service. Plates were dirty. Waitress was inattentive - didn t help recommend any dishes when we said we were new and when we said we weren t happy with the food she just walked away and didn t try to remedy anything. I m confused by all these high ratings. We had 6 different dishes and all were tasteless or extremely subpar.
Just amazing. Everything tasty, staff very gentle. Will go back till I try every plate
Went there last night, food was awesome, service could have been better. I am big on service and it was not great.. Four stars only for the food.
Delicious! Will keep coming here!
We were not notified of the change in business hours and only found out after 1hr drive. They didnt update their reservation system that I even received a txt reminder notification the night before.l of our 1:30pm reservation. It was unfortunate because we were looking forward as it was our first stop in celebrating our girlfriends 50th birthday.
If I could give this place a 100 , I would. This place is f@%king amazing. The food is super phenomenal. The tacos were just super bliss. I cant say enough about this place. Im a foodie and this place deserves more stars than what google gives out. If you love food above all else, this is the place for you. Number one spot! THE BEST PLACE IN BURLINGTON!!!!!
Great cocktails, service, atmosphere and food. Came here for the first time for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh, delicious and of quality. Can t wait to come back to try more dishes.
Excellent flavours. Very friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Live music. Patio. Fantastic!
Lovely food and lovely service! Ordered for pickup but ended up only being to pick it up 1.5 hours later and the hostess was so nice about it. The food was still warm when we picked it up. Ordered a mushroom paella and cauliflower bites and both were equally delicious. The paella was a favourite.
Love going here ,the food and service are great going back tonight after just a couple days
Amazing atmosphere and great service! Went here with 3 other people - shared a bunch of different tapas, with the chicken empanadas and sizzling shrooms being some of our faves. We got the traditional and seafood paella to share - so delicious and filling! They did not skimp on the chicken/seafood at all. The bonus was the live music playing. Despite them being short staffed, they did an awesome job and we were super satisfied with our experience and will come back!
Amazing first experience! Will absolutely go again!
The food was very good, and our servers made the night. Celebrated my birthday there, and already cant wait to go back!
Yum-O! Good food My resto to go when I fancy tapas with my hottie luvey!! I so like the ambience too, very clean and artsy. Highly recommend
We were looking for a good tapas restaurant and came across Barra Fíon in our search. Since they don t take reservations and it was a Saturday night we showed up at about 6:15 PM and the place was already buzzing. We were immediately seated and our server, Marianne, was amazing. We ordered four or five items off the tapas menu and everyone of them were absolutely excellent! By 7 PM the place was packed. We loved the vibe at Barra Fíon, the outstanding service and the incredibly tasty food. We have every intention of returning sooner than later. Highly recommend!
An amazing local gem..located in a strip mall but the patio is quiet and lovely. The food is out of this world especially if you enjoy seafood. We tend to order larger boards of mixed tapas. However their salads and pizza are delish too.
A hidden gem! Loveee it!
Spicy and alright
Service is horrible. Waited for an hour and asked our server when will our food be coming out, to find that the cook forgot about our order. Not worth the high prices. Left hungry.
Great hidden gem
As good as tapas in Spain
Nice place
We were here for Taste of Burlington. Good was really good, especially the slow roast steak bruschetta. I have never seen Tiger shrimps get that big, its the size of little lobsters. Waitress was friendly and attentive but food came out rather slow, make sure you have time to spare if you go. Overall I would recommend this place and definite be back.
Amazing food and service!
Very Cool Vibe food is amazing and service next level you gotta eat here
Great food and a wide variety, staff very friendly and very quick in reacting to our needs. I will recommend to anyone whos interested. Thank you to all the staff for making us and our guest feel like home
Loved barra fion
Great food love their tapas go there frequently
Great food and staff
Super spot for casual lunch or dinner. Food is excellent, staff are friendly and love to serve.
Did the take-out Tappy Board the other night and it was everything we expected and more!!! Take advantage of their take-out specials - they are great value and the flavours are awesome....will be back again soon.
Amazing food! More importantly, amazing people. Great service, especially in these unusual times. Highly recommended!!
We ordered the Smokin Family Feast last week (during COVID-19) and added an order of paella and it was fantastic! I picked up everything in the restaurant and I cant wait to be able to go back some day to eat in, looks like a great place. Will definitely order again, so many great looking choices!
Love this place. Just had date night there and where treated fabulously
Awesome lunch on the patio! We had chicken tostadas, patatas bravas (which were just like we ve had in Spain) and buffalo cauliflower... all were delicious. Highly recommends for the food and service!
Food was terrific, staff Awesome! Thank you for a lovely girls nite out!
Food and service is excellent. Everything fresh made. Delicious!
A wee bit late on the review, but better late than never lol We ordered their pizza, wing, and poutine special at random as we wanted to try something close by. We were not disappointed. This combo of food was the perfect amount for 2-3 people. We had some extra for snacks that evening. Definitely need to come by and try their entire menu. Cheers
Amazing selection and a warm welcoming staff as always. Great covid measures in place
It was our first time visiting Barra Fion. We were pleased with the variety of tapas to choose from. Some were much better than others, will be back specifically for the corn bread, empanadas and buffalo cauliflower! Service was good, we had several staff checking in on us on the patio.
We picked a restaurant at random on Google and we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely amazing! The cornbread was delicious, as was our shrimp, brie and pesto pizza. Loved the atmosphere. Service was a little inattentive for the small amount of customers in the dining room, but the food definitely made up for it. Will be back for sure!
Food, drinks and most importantly the service was all just phenomenal! Super friendly staff that made sure we were taken care of Definitely will be coming back!
Friendly staff, delicious and quality food. The Paella taste authentic.
We usally love Barra Fion but not last night. We rarely go out any more due to Covid so for our anniversary we decided to do take out. It was terrible. I would normally never say that about a restaurant especially during these hard times but it really was so disappointing. I encourage them to relook at their cooking. It felt like the food was not made fresh, very processed and the flavours were very poor. Not at all well prepared. I feel we wasted our money. So sad.
I really wanted to LOVE this place based on all the great reviews, but Im torn on the food. My husband and I came here Friday for brunch and the patio is quite adorable. Lots of regulars here and all the waitstaff were all in PPE (yay)! It was a bit confusing to get seated because we werent sure if we were supposed to wait by the patio or inside, so we awkwardly stood around until someone took pity on us and seated us. We ordered the mix grill, mushroom paella, and churros for dessert. The mix grill was AMAZING and everything was cooked great, especially the potatoes that came with it. So crispy and I couldve probably eaten 5 portions of it on my own. The mushroom paella however, was such a disappointment. It came served in a plate with a bunch of uncooked enoki mushrooms and didnt have any of the delicious bite of any paella Ive ever eaten. Kind of a bummer in that regard, but still an enjoyable meal nonetheless! Would come back to try their other tapas dishes, but please serve paella in a paella pan!
We really enjoyed this place! We always enjoy trying new things and Barra Fion has a lot of options of unique dishes that are delicious. We split 4 dishes and the Butter Chicken poutine and Pork Sliders stood out as our favourites. We can t wait to go back and try some new stuff! Also good job on covid measures, this place is hands down the safest place we have been to since the pandemic started.
Fantastic food, service wasnt the greatest
Very good food and great service. Crab cakes with mushrooms are a must!
Owners are awesome and the paella is delish!!!
Pleasantly surprised by this small cozy restaurant. Offers dine in and take out. Well-known for paella, tapas and pizza. Had traditional and seafood lovers paella. Seafood had extra oomph being a little more spicy. Serrano croquettes and Crab cake garlic mushroom stack were outstanding. Was told that tacos and steaks were highly recommended but there is only so much room available. Will definitely be back again soon.
I found the place and was a lovely surprise for me. I 100% recommend it.
Visited here because my another friend visited here for dinner. They had well-followed COVID-19 protocol. Hand sanitizer was also placed on the entrance and checked our temperature as well as contact numbers. The food we ordered tasty, a little bit salty but it was okay. Cozy restaurant, but overall portion was small for us. It might be just we were starving at that time.
We enjoyed a great meal of tapas at Barra Fion this past Saturday. We were really impressed with the protocols in place to ensure a safe environment for staff & patrons. The health screening included a temperature scan & contact tracing information. The food was excellent; the Mexican Street corn salad was fresh & flavourful. We also enjoyed an olive tapenade, chicken enchiladas & a crab cake with mushrooms - all really delicious. The wine and beer selection was great; the ambiance was really pleasant & thanks to all of the staff for making it a pleasant dining experience. We will be back.
We tried the paella today it was amazing will definitely come again and the service was great too
I ordered take-out from Barra Fion last week and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their dishes. I tried the Mix Grill, Traditional Paella, and Bacon Mushroom Pizza and all three dishes were excellent. IMHO, the plates at Barra Fion are on par with the top Spanish tapas restaurants in the GTA including Patria, La Vinia, Carmen, and Bar Ravel/Isabel.
