Visiting from out of state. Loved the food!! This is authentic (not from a microwave as another reviewer inaccurately posted 😡) Turkish food. The Meze platter was amazing! The Turkish salsa is a must try! The house made yogurt was so creamy and thick. The kabobs were juicy and tender, the lavash bread right off the grill. If you are in town, you need to try this place!
We got Adana kebab, tenderloin kebab and vegetarian platter. Very tasty but small portions for lunch. Kunefe for dessert. Incredible. Our host was super. Very accommodating of our kids and allergies. Highly recommend. We'd return.
Delicious! and I can’t stop craving it! A permanent bar has been set! This was a surprise when visiting our family in Vermont. Always up for something new was eager to try it. Our group of 7 shared the Turkish Meze Platter and the flavor is off the charts! By happy accident, given the size of our group, I was presented with the chicken Adana kebab vs the grilled chicken kebab. Although they offered right away to make the dish I ordered I decided to dig in and so I’m glad I did! It’s savory and satiating. Everyone loved their food and we often reflected through them remainder of the trip that this was our favorite spot. They even have a location closer to their home in Windsor! I can’t wait to go back! In the meantime I’m turning over every stone in Utah for anything that could mildly compare.
I have eaten here a few times it is my go to spot. Fantastic food top notch flavor in every course. They treat every meal with upmost care. Don’t let the road construction stop you it is worth the effort. First time on the roof top deck. I had no idea they were so big. Full bar a great plus. This is a great place check it out.
Everything was perfect! The food quality was great and the service too. The manager was taking care of each costumer and was making sure that everything was okay! The atmosphere was so friendly, definitely coming back again!
Come for the view-not the food. A fancy roof terrace in a city of burger joints and Irish pubs does not a good Turkish restaurant make. Having lived for over a decade in London’s Turkish neighbourhood I am more than familiar Turkish cuisine of exceptional quality and authenticity. This had neither. Not only was it grossly overpriced but the food was bland, clearly straight from a microwave (arrived tepid and soggy in 5mins of us ordering) and bearing no resemblance to authentic Turkish food. Portions were tiny - even compared to other Turkish restaurants in the US, who actually take their authenticity seriously, and the whole experience was compounded by an extremely confused server who didn’t seem to know the menu. (For reference, this tiny flavourless lamb-stuff aubergine was $25 before tax. We pay less for a full mixed grill with four meats and a full rice-salad plate at our regular Turkish in Houston). The Turkish wine flight, though also tiny and overpriced, was far better than the food - but that’s not saying much. Do yourselves a favour and go to Magic Chopsticks round the corner.
We absolutely LOVED this Turkish restaurant! Just go and you won't be disappointed. It is the cutest little brick building on a side street across from the main entrance to Church Street. The traditional decor was so warm, inviting and cozy! We made reservations to sit on the rooftop and were very pleased with that experience! The service was phenomenal- everyone smiled and greeted us. Everyone was just so friendly and helpful! The menu was fun and clearly explained the ingredients of each dish. We of course went with the meze platter that everyone has raved about and it was so fun! Break off pieces of the puffed lavash bread - they are crispy like crackers - spread on the various dips; mix and match for different flavors! My teenage son played it safe with a lamb and beef Kabab dish, and my husband and I tried the Guvec (smokey casseroles baked in turkish earthenware bowls, served sizzling hot with our turkish rice pilav) and let me tell you WOW🤤🤩 They may not look beautiful but they are so delicious! And that rice is perfection - I could eat it plain and can't wait to go back for more! The drinks were also superb! Paid parking was across the street in a small lot and we had no issues getting a spot. We walked Church Street after dinner and it was a lovely way to spend and evening!
Great restaurant, a bit on the more expensive side depending on what you order. The hosts were able to accommodate our group of 13 (split in 6 & 7) and were extremely helpful throughout. The mixed platter ($41) was delicious - the chicken and lamb adona standing out amongst the rest. I really enjoyed the pickled onion and rice attached with the order. I would NOT recommend the calamari; the portion was small and the calamari was rubbery and undercooked.
Perfect customer Services from Dilek
Great food but small portion sizes
Delicious lamb and chicken kebab, relaxing atmosphere, genuine service
Simply the best
Delicious. Eat this food
Staff was friendly, food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommend!
The food was excellent! Two of us shared the hummus starter and the mixed grill plate. We enjoyed ourselves. We had our baby with us and all the staff were super nice, welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely go back!
If you go to Burlington you should stop at this place and try their Alexander Kebab. The best Kebab I ve ever had. Dilek and Azem are great hosts. I will definitely go back.
Fantastic! Loved every bit of it.
Great Place! Great Service!
ALL of the kebabs were delicious and we tried almost all of them. Perfectly seasoned and tender. The service wasnt amazing and as a table of two we got less attention than the big groups we were surrounded by. But overall the food was fantastic.
I love the food and the environment. I love that they have Halal meat and chicken! Definitely, I will always go back!
Great food, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic staff!
After our delightful first visit, my wife and I knew we had to come back to Istanbul Kebab House for a proper meal. Last week, we decided to turn our date night into something special with dinner at this Turkish gem followed by a Broadway musical, Newsies, at the Flynn Center. We made a reservation in advance, as this spot is quite popular in the evenings - especially when theres a play happening nearby. The ambiance was inviting and warm, with soft lighting and traditional Turkish decor creating a perfect setting for a romantic evening. The service was exceptional, and our server, Alexandra B., made the experience even more memorable with his attentiveness and friendly demeanor. We started with the Small Meze Platter ($16.99), an excellent choice for sharing. The platter featured haydari, hummus, babaganoush, Turkish salsa, and stuffed grape leaves, all served with soft lavash bread. For those seeking a gluten-free option, fresh-cut veggie sticks are available. Each dip and spread was bursting with flavor, making this a must-try appetizer. For the main course, I chose from the Earthenware Casseroles and ordered the Lamb Guvec ($27.99). The tender, marinated lamb pieces combined with tomato, mushroom, onion, pepper, and eggplant were served sizzling hot, and the aroma alone was irresistible. It was hearty, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the recommended 9oz glass of Vinkara red wine ($16.50). My wife selected the Chicken Adana Kebab ($22.99) from the Traditional Kebabs menu. The mildly spicy, hand-ground chicken seasoned with Turkish mara pepper and parsley was grilled to perfection and served with Turkish rice pilav, a side of greens, house pickled red cabbage, and marinated onions. She enjoyed every bite and complemented her meal with a 9oz glass of Ancyra white wine ($16.50), which was light and refreshing. To close the evening, we indulged in a classic Turkish dessert, Baklava ($9.99). The layers of fresh phyllo, walnuts, and crushed pistachios, finished with a simple syrup, were the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Istanbul Kebab House continues to impress with its excellent food, cozy ambiance, and impeccable service. Whether it s a casual dinner or a special occasion, this restaurant is a must-visit in Burlington. We ll definitely be back again!
A phenomenal dinner and great Kebab and lamb meatballs.
Stopped by on my way back to New Hampshire a couple weeks ago, and had a great experience! We were greeted with a warm welcome, and loved the charming atmosphere of the restaurant. The calimari was some of the most tender and flavorful Ive eaten. I cant remember what our entrees were called, but we were very happy with the meal. We finished our meal with one of my wifes favorite treats, kunefe(may have misspelled it). It takes a couple of minutes to prepare but well worth the wait! We will definitely be stopping in next time we head that way. Hopefully the road construction will be done by then and we can enjoy the whole area a little better!
Food was delicious and service was awesome Azem and Dilek took great care of us.
Very nice Turkish restaurant this is. Friendly service and good food. The menu is easy to understand with explanation of each dish. The portions are not big, which is a good thing.
Food was really great but quite pricey
Authentic turkish food, great atmosphere
We stopped at this place for a lunch and were not disappointed. Delicious food and great service. Big plus for being open earlier as most of other restaurants were opening afternoon only. Food
Really good place to eat. I had alexander and my fiancee had lamp govec. Both were just amazing.
The lamb was dry. Expensive and dry. Service was very slow. It was almost as if we had been forgotten about. I would likely try it again, but hopefully they will improve in these areas.
Amazing service. Everyone from the hostess to the waitstaff was kind and welcoming. We drove an hour from Stowe because we heard great things about this restaurant. Atmosphere was amazing and food looked great. Taste was a bit lacking. For an American audience, the food is solid but for someone who s had Turkish cuisine this was decent at best. The lentil soup and Turkish coffee were decent. The falafel could ve used some salt. The kebabs could ve used some more flavor. Rice pudding was barely a pudding and more like rice soup. If you re expecting amazing Turkish food, this isn t the place for you, but if you re expecting decent Turkish food with kind employees and a warm environment, this is the place for you.
The hostess and the waitress was very welcoming. But never expected that the quantity of food would be so less, that it did not even fill my stomach corner. Also 4 adults and 4 small kids menu. And some appetizers ordered. Taking 20% gratuity by force thats ripping off customers. Tips are to be decided depending the customers satisfaction. 214$ usd so expensive. In montreal in Istanbul kebab in Longueuil. I could fill my self so full. Plz I recommend you to pay attention to the cooking time for the chicken shish kebab some pieces was not cooked properly compared to other pieces
We stopped by the restaurant an hour before it closed. They stood us up for five minutes to tell us they wont give service. If you close the restaurant at 8 pm you should have to change the close time from 9 pm to 8 pm. This is disrespectful and confusing to the customers.
Food was tasty, delicious and fresh. Portions were moderate. Ambiance was good.
the Ayran was home made but someone burnt the milk - they shouldnt have used it. the stuffed eggplant and chicken sheekh kebab were great, as were the desserts. service was awesome. i had booked (and confirmed outdoor) but that was closed and had to sit indoor in a cramped, dingy room. good, not great. Dietary restrictions: some gluten free options available. as expected, vegetarian options are limited (makes sense).
Food and wine were both delicious. Worthwhile trip , would recommend to anyone.
HORRIBLE experience at this restaurant in Burlington last night. My family and I decided to try this place as it has relatively good reviews. We sat on the rooftop, which was a pleasant surprise. Our server couldn t have been more rude and off-putting. We understand that it was a busy night but when we kindly asked for some water, he snapped back with In a minute. I couldn t believe what I had heard. Terrible customer service. If you re looking for similar cuisine, head over to Honey Road. Will not be coming back. Very disappointing.
Me and my finance ate on the rooftop, the atmosphere was amazing as well as the food. The best part was the service, the waiter periodically checked on us to make sure we were all happy with everything, and also recommended the dishes which we ended up eating and absolutely LOVED. It was the perfect dining experience. We will definitely be coming back and bringing friends with us. This place is a must try!!
We enjoyed our experience on the rooftop. The food and service were amazing. The waiter was very knowledgeable and helped us with any allergy restrictions. His recommendations for dessert were spot on. We will be coming back the next time we re in town.
Sitting on the rooftop in the late summer, we felt transported to Istanbul. The menu (both cocktail and food) was vast and tempting- the difficulty being to choose. Loving eggplant, I selected the lamb stuffed baked eggplant while my husband opted for the traditional lamb kebab. Both were delicious. I m including the cocktail options. My smoky Caravan Saray was memorable!
Exquisite dining experience on the rooftop, top class food and drinks Service and staff the best in Vermont management and servers ensured satisfaction Will return again
Went with my boyfriend the other day and what an amazing vibe, delicious food, perfect drinks, very good portions. Our waiter was very efficient (Mukhtar) and kind. Couldn t have asked for better. We sat on the roof top which was so nice. He did a very good job explaining the menu and making recommendations. Despite getting busy he was fast and checked in on us and never kept us waiting. Everyone was pleasant. We loved the vibe so much once we finished and paid we ended up sitting at the bar downstairs and ordered more drinks and made lovely conversation with the bartender and another waitress. Can t wait to go back and highly recommend!
The worst of all. It was heavy raining outside and we waited to have lunch. We waited for about15 minutes and they didnt accept us and said we have to leave. It was the worst experience I had . They could at least say before waiting for too long. If I could give zero stars I would do that. So sorry for such an irresponsible restaurant!!!!
food, atmosphere, service, all terrible. i paid fifteen dollars for hummus: it came out on a tiny plate and it was obviously EXPIRED. when i tasted it, it was fizzy. i ate the whole thing because i was starving but then i got sick. not to mention the wait staff said it came with bread, but it was listed as extra on the menu. my group s water glasses tasted like dish soap. my brother asked for a beer, and when it didn t come he asked the wait staff, and they said they were out. the wait staff thought the host was a member of our party. our food ranged from mid to inedible, was ridiculously expensive, and came on tiny plates. i genuinely want my money back, but i didn t complain because it s obvious this restaurant will fail within the year. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
The food was horrible - bad quality and overpriced. We had the lamb stuffed eggplant. It was soggy, sloppy, and flavorless, which cost $25 before tax, a total rip-off. Major disappointment.
Amazing food at a reasonable price. We thought this was a fast food place but the ambiance and decor are very nice. The cold meze and swordfish kebab were amazing. The fish was grilled and so fresh. If youre hesitating between this and any of the tap and grills, think no more!
The best place in Burlington to eat! The food was so delicious and fresh, The stuffed eggplant 10/10 and the price was reasonable. Both of the albanian servers were so nice and helpful! Definetly coming again! Food
Update: Went back recently and really underwhelmed. Party of 6. We got the large mezze platter, suggested we order more lavash as it only comes with one? For $21 hmmm. Service was off too. One member of our group got his meal 10 min before the rest of us then we all got our drinks after our meal. Whole meal was really slow and disjointed. Had to ask multiple times for more water, hot sauce, etc. Everyone was friendly and I feel bad giving a low review but for the price and meh food, just wouldnt recommend. I think were done trying here. Okay first experience. Requested outside (only thing to check when reserving) and thought wed get rooftop but I think that must be noted in special requests. We were out front which is not spectacular but I appreciate the extra outside seating. Food was tasty. Mezze platter and hot Lavash is just as good as everyone raves. Veg casserole was so good. Not a lot of veg offerings if thats important to you and everything seemed a bit pricey for what you got. Well be back again to try more. Great location.
We got dinner here and it was amazing!! Beautiful vibes, delicious food, and great service from our server Sarah. So tasty and I will definitely be back!
Loved Istanbull!! Sarah is an excellent server and a bonafide cutie patootie. The swordfish kebab was fantastic.
The food was amazing! The place is so cozy. And the staff was very welcoming.
This is my favorite restaurant in Burlington--the food, drinks, and service are always so so good. My husband and I both got guvec (sort of a stew in a clay bowl) last night and it was really delicious. Also if you go leave room for dessert, the chef Sedat is a magician--the kunefe is my favorite.
I came in for lunch with my girlfriend and we were seated quickly and our food was brought to us quickly. I ordered the tenderloin kebab and it was cooked to perfection. I plan to return very soon
Khabab was old,we orders lots of food But everybody was complaining Me and my husband was the host for the lunch Coz of that we was filling so bad. Food : 1/5
Absolutely delicious food! I highly recommend the vegetable stuffed eggplant. Warm and attentive service. I have already been back twice!
fantastic food from Türkiye. The owner gets much of his food straight outta Türkiye. So the food is not only Turkish but made with Turkish ingredients. This is a big deal because the taste of food from the home country is significantly tastier than if you get it from even a place like Trader Joes or Healthy Living. This DOES drive up the price but the owners dedication to cooking with truly Turkish ingredients is very very commendable and i am definitely willing to pay more if it means im truly eating real Turkish food. Their Ayran (salty yogurt drink) is homemade and fantastic. Significantly better than store-bought Kefir. The large meza platter was absolutely fantastic. Delicious. Wow. The stuffed grape leaves are to die for. If there are any other Bosnians reading this, its like a zeljanica on steroids. The salsa was actually spicy so good sign there and very tasty. Hummus was amazing, babaganoush was great. Their falafel is tasty as well, you can tell that the dough is very high-quality. Interior has a café-like feel to it. Ive seen some folks complaining, but as a Bosnian i love it as it is like a Kavana back in the home-country. clean.
We simply loved this restaurant. The dishes are very tasty and fragrant. Dont hesitate. Bon appetit !
Came from Montréal, we took 2 plates to go for almost 60$ & the plates were literally empty. We wanted to try new places to eat & we were really disappointed. I recommend to look before you leave.
Terrible service and the food is really smal portion
Terrible service, the food is below average, and prices are too expensive for the quanlity of food. I dont recommend this place to anybody! Food
Small portions. Big prices. It was clearly a tourist trap. Terrible service and is not professionnal at all. The cold appetizer sampler for four was four little spoons. Gone litteraly in almost 60 seconds, with 3 people. We were disappointed and still very hungry. My chiken kebab plat was almost empty small portion for rice and chiken. Its not worth it the price. Dont recommand this place.
Its a good gyro shop. The amount of food is reflected in the reasonable price point.
Very pricey considering the portion size and quality (nothing like I had in Turkey). The service was very good - quick and attentive. The atmosphere was cute on the second floor. Overall I think its overpriced and if I wasnt here for business I wouldnt recommend. If youre on business though, its an alright spot.
Gordon Ramsay would cry at the minute taste of the sword fish. I don t recall ever having tasted such an overcooked fish in my life! Not to mention that the portion sizes are ones fit for a 10 year old child. Very small for the price of 22+ USD. To our demise, we decided to complain to the manager ( we pulled the manager a aside) and we politely told him our review of the place. Of course, the best he could do was remove 2 drinks. Once we left dissatisfied to say the least, we were told To go to Mcdonalds if we were still hungry. Complete lack of professionalism. Would avoid even if starving. The staff were very impolite and i don t think the average customer would enjoy the banging of dishes every 2 seconds (since i don t believe that the waiters know to the send the dishes back promptly to the kitchen)
Portions too small for the price of USD 26, swordfish was slightly overdone. Rice portion too small. Beer prices not the worst at USD 7. Servers were clearing and banging dishes 4 feet away from our table. Multiple times. The food was edible. Would not come back here.
The waiter made me cry. This never happened. They yelled at me for asking for the wifi. I am appalled
Not sure what the hype is for this place. Ordered pick up here and hostess was not friendly. Went to pick up and and it felt like I was being a burden for ordering rather than giving them business. Portion sizes were small for the price and food was below average. Lots of better places to eat in Burlington over here.
Average food but great service
The neighborhood is shockingly, extremely rundown. Same thing with the restaurant. The price was high for what you get. The doner kebab was dry. The bread was flavorless and hard. The baklava was prepackaged (we actually saw a member of staff opening the boxes). How this ranks is one of the highest restaurants in the area is a total mystery.
My Mom made a reservation one week ago for a party of 5. She was sent a text to confirm the reservation days ago, which she did. Then tonight, she got a call an hour and a half before tonights reservation and told they overbooked and her reservation cancelled. Despite a request for an accomodation in the form of a small gift certificate for her trouble the staff refused and never even apologized for this error. This is appalling customer service! As someone who has worked in five star restaurants I am shocked that any establishment would so cavalierly alienate any local customer in such a way as to ensure that they never return. Consequently, you can be assured that a large Burlington area friend contingent will also choose to boycott this establishment.
Delicious fresh kebabs, hummus, grape leaves - omg! The baklava is amazing! Highly recommend checking it out!
My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner on the second floor. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. Loved her. She checked in with us often and made sure we were cared for. The portion sizes were perfect. We felt full and satisfied and didn t have to take anything home. After reading through the other comments it seems there are too many entitled, glutinous people complaining about the portion sizes. They are probably used to the typical troth of cheap American food and not used to paying for quality and a healthy portion. Our only complaint was a woman with dark hair acting like a Karen berating other waitstaff loudly in front of us. She was super dramatic flailing around and fanning her face as if she was going to pass out. She continued this loudly for several minutes until our waitress told her she was being unprofessional. It was VERY unprofessional and we were embarrassed for her. Afterwards we just called it a dinner and a show. Give her an Emmy! I hope she s part of the local theater. Parking: There are lots of parking options if you know your way around the city.
Having recently came back from Turkey I was excited to find a well rated Turkish kebob restaurant in Burlington. Unfortunately the food was just okay. The prices were pretty high all things considered. The atmosphere was amazing-- the rooftop seating was marvelous.
Service was great, decoration was nice, but sadly the food was tasteless, and an embarrassment to Turkish food. Steer a way from this place.
Verry good tasting food and quality. Some of the best food I had in a long while !
Pretty good donner. Not a replacement for authentic donner but a good substitute until you can catch a plane.
delicious!
What a find this small Turkish restaurant in Burlington, Vermont was for me and a group of my friends celebrating my daughter s wedding. I chose the restaurant for lunch, and we had the most delicious homemade Turkish food served in an authentic atmosphere with great service. A memorable addition to a weekend full of fun in Burlington.
Food was delicious, staff was very attentive and courteous. Disappointed with the portion sizes, though. Lavash bread was one single piece of bread for $2, and the $9 hummus was served on a small plate. The chicken shish kebab was one small skewer with a few small pieces of pepper for over $22 (barely more food than my daughter s kids meal). The flavor and quality were great, but for the prices we paid, I would have expected at least twice as much food.
Favorite place to eat in Burlington. Absolutely amazing food and flavors! Great service!
Istanbul Kebab House serves up delicious Turkish cuisine, with standout dishes like the flavorful lamb kebab and satisfying Iskender kebab. The quality of food is high, pleasing both my wife and me. However, be prepared for the higher price point, which may impact overall value for some diners.
Not much space in here but the food is good! Just a heads up, they charge for refills of soda and its from a can, lol. I didnt notice that and had like 3 diet sodas... needless to say between that and my dates 2 refills, it added up to quite a bit on the bill.
We ate here twice in a matter of 3 days while visiting Vermont. The best Turkish food that I have had. The staff are friendly and welcoming, especially Delek who helped us- IS THE BEST! Looking forward to coming back here again!
Tourist trap. Small portions. Big prices. The cold appetizer sampler for four was four little spoons. Gone in 60 seconds, with two people. The stuffed grape leaves were good. I ordered lamp kebab medium-rare, but it was completely well done. My sons lamb guvec had almost no meat. With no drinks, only water, spent almost $200 for 2 adults and two 8 year olds. The food tasted ok, but we left hungry.
I really enjoyed my meal here, and was surprised that so few people were there when I came for dinner on a Wednesday night (though it was pouring rain outside, so maybe the weather was a factor!). I enjoyed a white wine flight featuring all wines from Turkey, and loved my swordfish cuvec, which was basically grilled swordfish pieces cooked in a little cauldron with tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, and spices. It came out steaming hot. I was a bit disappointed by the prices, which were higher than the ones Id seen posted by prior Google reviewers, but it was still reasonable for the quality of the food and the ambience. It would be really lovely if they served some pita and dipping oil at the start of ones meal...just a thought.
Didnt expect the price to be in the higher range, and that surprise disappointed me. The price didnt match the size of the dish, first floor views and the location. If its at least 20% cheaper, I would rate it 5 stars. Even Boston has higher portion/price ratios. Another downside is that, when I visited, I expected to sit at the rooftop, which was occupied by a private party, so we had to sit by the road side, which was not pleasant at all. We didnt want to sit inside since its summer. Food is good but kind of lame that everyone left feeling hungry.
Atmosphere was lovely, but portion sizes are quite small. We enjoyed the meal and the ambiance, but we will likely not return.
Brian was - kind, efficient, & thought of everything before we ever needed to ask. This gal never finishes an entree but the lamb kebab was indeed finished lol. (Everyone loved their dish) THANK YOU!!! Food : 5/5
The food is OK but not memorable (I had the haydari and adana kebab), both my wife and I found it a little bland. The portions are a bit disappointing and the prices are on the high side. Selling haydari and charging extra for lavash is like charging customers for dip and then making them pay extra for the chips, it comes off as being cheap. The rooftop deck was quite nice. I personally would not go back.
Disappointing Experience Our recent visit left much to be desired. Firstly, the prices are exorbitant for the serving sizes provided. I requested fries as a substitute for rice and received a mere 7-8 soggy fries, alongside just 5 small chicken cubes. The hummus was entirely flavorless, lacking any hint of tahini. Despite spending $75, my husband and I left the restaurant still hungry, and that amount didn t even include drinks or dessert. I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
Outstanding Turkish cuisine. Perfect seasoning and preparation. Meats were tender and juicy. Highly recommend this restaurant.
If you like Mediterranean food, you will love the Istanbul Kebab House. The service and food are the best Turkish food in the Burlington area. They offer a variety of kebabs and Güveç, with aromatic spices, along with hummus, stuffed grape leaves, falafel and other choices.
The food was above average, plus the quantity was very minimal. Although the atmosphere was good, I especially didnt like the service. I felt the waiter was a bit rude especially arrogant when we asked to explain a few menu items.
Worst food ever in my life never recommend this place lady order taker so disrespectful and inoperative dont want to listen so pathetic never go again or order
Honestly food was mediocre but the bartender on the second floor was incredibly disrespectful to my mother. I think they should reevaluate their staff and their attitudes. She asked for bread and he assumed she expected it to come with the yogurt all snappy like.
Walked in, asked for a table of 2. Person at the front asked if we had reservations. We did not. They then told us pretty rudely that we could not be seated without reservations and we should leave. No offer to put a name down on a waitlist or anything. There seemed to be plenty of open tables and after checking Resy, there were still tables available as well so it didnt seem like they were booked out. Stepped out for a few minutes to look for other options. Saw 5-6 other groups go in during that time frame, and they all similarly got turned away. I dont really get it. If youre going to be that uptight about requiring reservations even when theres tables and reservations available, maybe mention it on the website or throw up a sign in the door or something?
Outstanding food and creative drinks.
The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned
Awesome place and awesome food
Paying cdn$ 90 dollars for exactly one beer, on one large plate for looks one skewer of barely put lamb cubes and one plate with exactly one skewer of chicken pieces, with each having just a cup of rice with measly cut up onions and tiny bit of red cabbage. No thank you. Over highped, waste of money venture ended up sitting up on terrace due to hot simple dinning room. Who really gives such high tributes is beyond me. I am a world traveler and give no stars here. Courtesy 2* for the lady was good at service.
We were a group of 4 - 2 adults and 2 elementary age children. We stopped in for lunch on a weekday, and were seated immediately. The food was delicious and the service was attentive. Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu, which one of the kids decided to try. (Cheese Pizza)
Outdoor seating food was authentic and very good. I will be back.
My server was Summer she was so nice and friendly her service was outstanding. The food was just amazing!!! I ordered the MEZE PLATE, LAVASH BREAD and CHICKEN SHISH KEBAB everything was so so good. The ambiance of the restaurant is so beautiful with some many Turkish details. I really recommend it. 10/10.
Server was very attentive and had great suggestions for items to share. (Meatball, kebab, one appetizer platter) Everything was beyond delicious. We all left full and with just enough to bring to our friend! Vegetarian options: there were some vegetarian soup and salad options, anything else was labled
Little cozy restaurant with amazing Turkish food. Every bite was exquisite. Cant wait to return.
Exceptional service & the food was spectacular!
Very Small portions for take out
Food was good. Quantity was very little. Service was very mid. Wouldn t recommend
We went on saturday 5/11 around 6:40pm. The inside was filled so we had to sit outside. I was hesitant and was going to leave because it was cold out but they said the food was delicious you ll be missing out So we ate outside and everyone was friendly/ but then our food took 45 minutes and it started raining and we were freezing. We ate our food which was delicious but the portion sizes for the prices are not worth it. Our bill was $70 + tip and we don t feel that reflected our experience in the slightest (we didn t get drinks) . We left cold, and kind of hungry still
Great food and great atmosphere. The sampler plate, imported olives, and the puff bread were all excellent. I still have dreams about the hummus.
the kebab is amazing, pictured is the baked casserole which had great ingredients not quite as flavorful and good as the kebab but still ate it all!
Loved this place! We arrived nearly at closing after a very long drive (up visiting UVM) and they kindly seated us and treated us to a memorable meal. The swordfish and sirloin kebab was fantastic, as was the lamb. Highly recommend for a charming, authentic experience.
Authentic Turkish flavors!
Amazing hole in the wall!
Its absolutely delicious, especially my tenderloin kebab. Its so tender and very tasty. Taste just perfect with the pickles veggies (onion and cabbage) and their rice. Its our third choice of restaurant, actually. Went to the first and second, but its a long waiting, so we walked all the way to here from where we parked. Im glad we did, though.
Excellent food and service was very fast. Everything from appetizers to entrees to dessert was delicious. There were several Gluten free items, and all were clearly labeled on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free selection and options were clearly labeled on menu.
Stopped in Sunday afternoon for a felafel to go. Top notch sandwich, heavenly thin warm lavash rolled up with hint of purple cabbage, gorgeous chickpea balls ( not oily) and yummy sauce on the side. Nice atmosphere, very clean fast service from bartender. Resisted, with difficulty , the Vt maple baklava ! Will be back with friends !
I cant recommend the food at this restaurant. The lentil soup did not impress, although Ive never had Turkish lentil soup, and Im not sure what it should have tasted like but my own lentil soup is far better. The worst part of the meal where the dolmas; they were practically frozen, and when I noted that, the server replied that they serve them cold! Room temperature I can understand, but these were just too cold to be edible.
Amazing, authentic, food with great service! Highly recommend the chicken kebabs. App sampler plate and stuffed grape leaves!
Great food, home-like atmosphere, kinda small, but very friendly. Highly recommend it
We loved the food and will go back the next time we go to Burlington!
The food is delicious!!! I m so glad I was able to get a table. They accommodated my boyfriend and I with ease. Very intimate setting on the lower level. Service is wonderful as and speedy.
We were lucky that there was no wait during our dine as what our friend told us there is usually a wait here. The food was really good! If i could be somewhere in the middleeast then i could say it has an authentic taste! They accept credit/debit. Find a parking garage, if you re lucky you could find a street parking. No high chair. Ambiance feels like in the arabian countries. Customer service is also great.
Bad service, very disappointed We order for wrap by phone and we paid 90 dollars 4 sandwiches. But when we arrived we received 4 plates. No explications, you need some tips to be more commercial with your clients. Food
Food is good-normal, I took take away and the portion was little. I recommend eating in if you want to try.
Outstanding food and service. We loved everything.
The food was fresh and the service was great.
The Food was delcious, the bread with humus was delcious. My family.had the Doner Kebab and I had the Adana Kebab whichw as declious. Our server was professional and on top of everything. I forgot her name buy she was a very nice young lady.
We order from Istanbul Kebab House and picked up the food. It was prepared quickly and was very tasty. We had the mezze, eggplant with lamb, chicken shish kebab and lamb adena. All delicious.
Excellent food excellent, customer service one of my favorite places to go Vegetarian options: Many different vegetarian in the menus Parking: City park Kid-friendliness: Kids friendly
Great food, top notch service. One of my favorite places in VT.
My wife and I were struggling to find somewhere that wasn t uncultured/for college students by college students type restaurants( she s a very picky eater and has never be one to enjoy food that s been strongly influenced by those of European descent)even having to leave some places after viewing their menus. Until finally coming across this absolutely beautiful, delightful and delicious restaurant that treated every customer with astounding service and quality of food. Even the atmosphere in there was sublime from the Visual aspects inside to the gorgeous aroma making its way around the room .Seeing how we are from out of town I would happily drive back just to indulge myself in all that they have to offer.
Food and service excellent
Lamb stuffed eggplant is a must. Kebabs were to the point, creamy and well cooked.
If the operator who says he is closed when there are 15 minutes before closing is unable to serve soup, he should close his place at 8:30!
Very good food. Highly recommend
Great food. Very warm customer service. We ordered different food options and tried all food. Everything was very delicious. Strongly recommend
The environment, food, and service were great! Enjoyed the time!
Delicious, authentic Turkish cuisine. Love the food here. Im a sucker for their lamb.
No real complaints. Good lunch stop, great mezze plate. Easy outdoor seating. Appropriately attentive wait staff.
This restaurant is always fantastic. We usually get the babaganoush with lavash bread as well as the mixed grill. The meat is very tender and flavorful
Fast service Delicious meal Authentic place Friendly staff Enjoy
Good food. Fast service. Recommend a reservation on the weekend.
Delicious, Fresh Food with Friendly service
Best Turkish food Ive ever had in the states. Reminded me of home
I got this restaurant service is less than normal he looks to us like alien will not come back again, To the Arab brothers, the staff are Turks, and you know how to look and treat me. I dont need to tell you There are many good things around it, and I felt like I had gone to them The kebab looked dry. We heated the baguette kebab yesterday And the rice is cold
Poor service at the restaurant from the waiter. Felt unwelcome and rushed to leave, even though we were a family of 8 people. Be carful they charge 20% tips automatically ! The food was good !
Very good food, very tasty!!
Exactly what I wanted! Delicious meal in a lowkey atmosphere. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Great place to eat Turkish food
Food was delicious. NOT everything is halal here. Server confirmed that only Chicken and Lamb is Halal. Food was delicious
We ordered the falafel, falafel wrap, lamb and chicken kebabs, and all of them were great. One of the best falafels Ive ever had.
Visited Burlington for one evening and a coworker recommended that I go here. So glad I followed that advice! Nice outdoor seating area and great service. I got the chicken kebab and it was genuinely the most juicy and flavorful chicken I think I have ever had. I loved that the rice pilaf was gluten free and it was delicious! This is a hard one to beat
A little bit expensive but food was good
This place is always reliable. The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable. Last evening, despite a reservation and my request for an indoor table, we were seated outdoors. We got caught in downpour, which begs the question: If cant honor reservations, dont take them!, They moved us inside to the totally empty unused dining room upstairs for dessert. Oh, another thing: SKIP DESSERT. There was noting Turkish about the Turkish Rice Pudding. One can find better rice pudding at any roadside diner. It tasted like the disposable foil baking dish that it was cooked in. For $8 bucks, couldnt you bake and serve a pudding in a ceramic ramekin? Our server was great. She asked if she could delete the desserts from the bill, but I suggested that it was more important to me that Management hear my concerns. We paid for the two, nearly inedible, served in disposable containers desserts.
Vegetarian options: So many delicious vegetarian options! Food
Its my first time to eat Turkish food. All of the things are so great! Must try!
The portion of food for the price is ridiculous and the older gentleman there lacked manners when asked about items on menu, just rude. I wouldnt recommend.
Excellent! A real surprise!
We made reservations for 6@6:40 and we were 15 min late and they still held our reservation, that was fantastic of them. They didn t have any indoor dining and we had a table reserved for outdoor dining. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick and food delicious. Definitely go back.
The ambiance and atmosphere are absolutely delightful. It exudes a warm and welcoming vibe, which is no surprise considering its a restaurant personally run by the owner. This place holds the distinction of being the sole Turkish restaurant in the city, and its become a personal favorite of mine. The Iskender Kebab they serve here is outstanding and truly authentic. And lets not forget the Baklava; its like a slice of home, a genuine taste of traditional baklava. I highly recommend trying it out. Overall, its a fantastic dining experience, a little taste of Turkey in the heart of the city. If youre looking for a cozy and inviting spot with exceptional Turkish cuisine, this is the place to be.
Best Ive had. Seriously next level. Quaint lil spot, seats about 8, nice music playing, and the folks running the kitchen know what TF they are doing!
Authentic Turkish cuisine. The dishes were just like the ones I had in Turkey. Must-try when you visit Burlington
I brought a couple of friends to the Istanbul Kebab House, yesterday. The service is exemplary, the atmosphere was fun and very comfortable, and the food was amazing! This will be our new pre-Flynn spot!!
Best meal Ive had in a restaurant in years.
Had a great and authentic Turkish feast! Every element of the meal was delicious. We had lamb kebobs and a sizzling lamb stew - wonderfully marinated and spiced to perfection. My hope is that the chef entrusts his recipes to someone, so the art will not be lost! Very well-designed wine list, and delicious desert options. Will definitely come back! Parking: Across the street.
Vegetarian options: Only a few vegetarian options, but they are excellent. Food
A small place with an upstair dining. Food is very fresh & tasty. Parking: A very busy area. Paid parking is difficult & requires 2 hours minimum parking. Food : 5/5 |
Fast delivery of food but by no means fast food. Dietary restrictions: We ordered mixed grill for two and it was great. I just could not find it as an option. Also we had grape leaves and cheese rolls. All was good. Food : 5/5 |
Wonderful dining experience.
The food was good but Luke warm. Very disappointed with the service, the staff were only interested in rushing us and getting us out of the restaurant table was cleared while we were eating appetizer and main course was served. We were present with our invoice while we were still eating our main course. We felt unwelcome at the restaurant
serves alcohol Waiter was extremely rude to us. Never ever. Food : 1/5
I enjoyed eating on the patio. My sampler plate was spectacular! I will go back every time I visit upstate New York. Restaurant is small, located on walking mall of shops new university.
It was just like eating in Turkey
Wow! One of the few places taking reservations we were delighted with our choice. The staff were all amazing. Fast, friendly, and very helpful. The food was incredible, especially the Istanbul Salad. The Beyti was good, but Im going to try something else next time. And there will be many next time here!
This is the second time my daughter and I have been there. The food was just as great as the first time. Great atmosphere !!
Food is always delicious. Great service. Go-to restaurant in Burlington.
The entire experience was wonderfull! The food was mouth watering delicious, and our server was wonderfull. 5 Stars, no complaints at all!
