The food was great! I liked the beef with curry and rice. I found garbage in my fried rice, but they made another one! The restaurant is kind of small, but the food is still pretty delicious.
This place is pretty good , I really like the curry here , it's kinda coconut-y and there is a good amount of meat and fillings in it. In terms of the Hainan chciken it's alright , I have had it twice , one time it was flavorless and the other it was over cooked. But you do get a good amount for the price you pay , like 17 is enough for two. In terms of the Malaysian roti , it's alright , it comes with some of the curry so it tastes good but it's quite expensive compared to other options at Crystal mall. In terms of the lemon tea , the lemon tea is good , it satisfied all my conditions for a good lemon tea. Oh and the you fan is fine , I have gotten it twice and one time it was too watery. I would rate this place a bit higher but everytime I eat here I get a stomach ache, including all of my friends . But just like how lactose interlorant people still enjoy dairy products , I will still continue to enjoy the food here.
I have been tracking the gross weight of their take-out curry beef brisket for 10 orders in the past two years. They range in weight from 618g to 730g (variation: 112g / 18.1%). Last week I bought one at 650g. Not being able to know what weighs the most, I’m unable to tell the value:cost ratio but the range of 112g is really quite unreasonable. They should improve the consistency of the product with a more uniform ratio of beef brisket : potatoes : curry sauce. Update: While your reply is very much appreciated, you missed my point
The hainanese chicken had no taste and was just oily. The chicken oil rice had no chicken oil taste. The fried rice was pretty mid.
So. Yummy. Curry beef brisket with rice totally hit the spot for me. Had 2 big pieces of potato (kentang), my fav part of Chinese curry. Ate alone as usual, portion is enough for 2 meals for me, will pack for lunch tomorrow. Only thing is - there's no veg in the curry. Otherwise, it's pretty solid. And no, not spicy. Just yummy. Beef is so tender and tear away good. Has good amount of fatty bits which I like.
We normally go to their location on Victoria Drive. This is our favorite Hong Kong-style cafe. The staff always chat with us and check how we are doing. Today we were in this area and just needed a small snack before heading home to make dinner. We had French toast and Peanut Butter toast with condensed milk. You can see French toast was crispy but not oily. They put the right amount of peanut butter and condensed milk. Their hot drink was great as always. Same for daily soup!
This is a new location. I’ve been ordering many years from the Victoria drive location. The curry beef brisket is a must. It’s the classic Cantonese style dish perfect for lunch or dinner. The sauce is killer with rice. Fish and tofu with bbq pork. Savoury gravy. Delicious. Perfect with rice as well. Would I order again? Not regularly. Prices inflated and the take out sizes are not generous. There’s better competition elsewhere. Mind you I was a regular at least minimum 2 to 3 times a week in the past for this brand. However, if you’re tight on time and want to satisfy your craving, this place won’t disappoint on flavours. If your looking for a large meal, this isn’t the place for value.
The restaurant is bright and clean. Children's tableware and chairs are provided for kids. The service is good and timely. The meals are delicious and large portions. My favorite is the milk tea, which is comparable to the taste in HK. Personally, I suggest that the more peanut butter in the French toast will taste better, and that the potatoes in the curry brisket will be simmered longer to become softer, waxier and more delicious. Everything else was perfect and we will dine again. Glad Burnaby also has delicious tea restaurants. Best of all they are kid friendly and we enjoyed our meal.
Very slow service high waiting for orders
Very ordinary overall. A small restaurant in demand in the area.
The service is very good, the price is reasonable, and the taste is good There are also set meals for two and four people...
Hong Kong style restaurant with reasonable price and normal taste. You can give it a try
Ordered curry beef brisket take out tonight. The beef is chewy and the potatoes are undercooked. Bad quality. Not impressed.
I originally planned to dine at Crystal Mall, but on the way, I saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try because of its reputation. I ordered a tofu and fish dish, and it was a huge disappointment. The fish was not fresh, coated in a thick layer of starch, and the tofu was mediocre and overly salty. The overall flavor of the dish was poor. I deeply regret not going to Crystal Mall. I won t be returning to this restaurant again. ---
Curry beef brisket is our go to dish and it s always consistently delicious and aromatic. Fast service. Would highly recommend.
Excellent Service
Food was very bland and mediocre at best. I got the beef brisket on rice combo and the soup was basically just water with a couple of carrots people there were pretty rude. Way nicer, better value places around. Regret going. WONT be going back.
Ordered from the combo, portions are small and price is way OVERPRICED for what you get. The food dude not taste good. I would go to any of the other good restaurants around even the Metropolis food court would have better food. Service was abismal! They BULLIED us into tipping. You need to train your staff better you lost several customers now as me and my friends will tell everyone we know not to eat there. Never ever bully customers for tips. Its disrespectful and tips are optional. PERIOD.
Noisy, very bad service, demanded tip at payment. Tips are OPTIONAL, say it with me! OPTIONAL! Easily never coming back.
The dishes of specially fired vermicelli Singapore are not Hong Kong style. Didn t have curry powder. TVB
Busy dinner hour, so had to be more patient. Curry beef brisket on rice ×2 please. Take out again to better enjoy my food, lol.
Such bad customer service. The staff is rude and unhelpful. Restaurant is empty and still they won t entertain you
Various meals, good tasty ,fried food is crisp.
Mui; Please stop using poor quality, reused, or recycled oil for the fried rice It causes acid reflux and other digestive problems Food : 2/5 |
Dined in and liked the food, hainan chicken and curry shrimp. Ordered soup for my elderly mom and they forgot to give it to me. Called to complain but the rep didn t understand. Check your takeout order and don t assume everything is there. Did not like no credit card option. Why?
2024-03-24 The Cantonese lady with very short hair was extremely rude to me when I pointed out there was a bug in my dish. She dismissed it as a piece of vegetable and quickly walked away to take someone else s order, completely ignoring me despite me politely pointing out that there were fully attached legs and head on the vegetable . I had to wave down a different waitress with pony tail, who was thankfully much nicer about it. She took the issue seriously and offered me a refund, to which I refused and decided to pay the bill with a discount based on her professional attitude. The bug problem happened to me here twice in a week on my first two visits to this restaurant, both times involved dishes with bok choy. I hope the kitchen takes this issue seriously and start washing their vegetables instead of doing quick rinses. That short-haired lady should be fired for gaslighting and rudely ignoring customers like that! It s a waiting staff s job to deal with customer complaints, being a jerk about it just means pushing the issue onto her colleagues. Honestly ruined my day. This review would ve been 1-star (0 if possible) if it wasn t for the pony-tail lady.
Awful service
Do not order any catered large tray food from here. The fried rice had very few filling (literally 75% white rice to 25% other ingredients) , brocolli was bitter - yes bitter either nearing or expired produce, and the noodles were oily with very few filling. Discovered it way after plating it for a party and was honestly embarrassed by the feedback from the guests who had it. Youd expect the higher than normal prices they charge to be half decent but it was worse than any modest home cook meal. Youre better off going to Kents kitchen for cheaper prices or paying same price anywhere else for better taste and value.
I think he is the manager he was nice enough to bring out my take out order for me. He forgot my drinks and brought it out for me seeing as how I was pregnant. They were accommodating to my requests even when it was busy. I tried to tip and he did not take it. So happy they have a mui garden in burnaby i hope they will one day expand to surrey!
Authentic Cantonese style restaurant. Street parking only.
The curry beef brisket is very delicious!
Great curry with beef brisket
Tiny restaurant. No atmosphere. Good very good.
The dish I ordered was delivered very quickly. The dish was well prepared for lunch special. I ordered Veggies with beef on the rice and was happy with the taste and the amount. I guess the good location across from the metropolis would demand a higher price compared to not so centrally located restaurants away from Metrotown. But Mui Garden has been around for a long time in Vancouver and its dishes always are of high quality to me and I would love to bring friends to dine at Mui Garden in the future, especially trying out their Curry dishes and yummy skewers.
Great beef brisket with curry and white rice; Id recommend this spot for a casual dinner with friends or family. Great location, across from Metrotown so easy access for people who take transit, but also easy to find street parking alongside street. The menu is super diverse in terms of offerings, price, and value. They only take cash or debit.
Have my lunch tea here. Food has authentic taste and is price friendly. Small dish is about 5-6 dollars each. I didn t order main course but I saw that average price is about 20. Service is ok. No surprise or bad surprise
Curry beef brisket with rice is bomb
Useless and rude stuff
Hainan chicken was cold and taste bad, not worth the price. Staff attitude was poor. Waste of money Recommended dishes Hainanese Chicken with Soup and Chicken Oil Rice
Hai Nam Chicken and Curry dishes are good. Hai Name Chicken with rice, $13.95, good for lunch.
Tastes good and reasonably priced
Called Zuo Hainanese Chicken Rice Food quality is very poor Very bad experience Service attitude is also very poor
Drinks are often tied with takeout bags slanted, and even when carrying a bride, there is no left half...
Very good curry chicken
Its becoming our favorite for Saturday night dinners. Been here 4 wks in a row. Theres something on the menus for everyone. 6 in our group. Wonderful curry beef briskets to go with oil rice! Yummy!
UberEats shows $57.5, order directly from store is 39.5$. Lol. Now I know don t order from online platform. Taste is not bad. Love the Hainanese chicken. Satay chicken skew is just ok. The Malay crepe with curry sauce is the best! Will be my go to place for the next while
Authentic Hong Kong-style cafe. Had curry beef briskets, Malaysian roti, and iced milk. They were all good. Food came very quickly. Debt and cash only.
Curry tastes like watered down curry and then added salt to it. Hainese chicken taste like salted chicked from a cantonese bbq place. Pineapple fried rice is chicken fried rice with pineapple chucks in it. The only edible dish was the sweet and sour pork. Definitely will not order from this place again
The waiter had a bad attitude towards customers who spoke Mandarin and pretended not to hear what we said.
Just an update from our most recent visit: Our bill was automatically added a tip for a party of four unbeknownst to us. This left a bad taste on such a dodgy business practice. We will be hesitant in revisiting Mui Garden Restaurant in the future. ___________________________________________________ The Missus and I along with the boys have tried Mui Garden Restaurant for lunch on a number of occasions. The restaurant is not very big but service is quick. Only cash or debit are payment options. Our go to is the curry beef brisket on rice as the beef is very tender and flavourful. The beef fried noodle is also very tasty. The Missus enjoyed her fresh shrimp wonton noodle soup. For our Hong Kong style cafe outing, we certainly recommend Mui Garden.
I go here about twice a month for their curry beef brisket. It is one of my favorite dishes in the world.
Its been a while Ive not been here. Their Singapore vermicelli fried noodle has good wok hay fire. I didnt take a pic of the curry fish and rice my mom devoured but its good. Its the recipe theyve had for a long time. All in all better than I remember 3.5*. Good Hainan [email protected]*, ok 3.5* Singapore vermicelli, 3* fish curry (chicken or beef is better).
The food was ok but the service was not. The deal 2 for 42 bucks was a rip-off, you can get the same thing individually on their regular menu. It did come with the soup of the day with a tiny piece of meat on a bone and a few chopped carrots and celery. No dessert because its not after 5 pm. The server did not even come back to our table to check on how the food was or if we need anything. Cash and debit card only is also an inconvenience. The server also demanded a tip of 10 bucks when our bill was just less than 45 bucks. Thats 22%, she only had to take our orders and bring them to the table and she did not come back until we are done eating. The taste of the food was ok but the price that we have to pay just to eat here was not. The food is not enough reason to make me come back or recommend the place. Good service was more important to me.
All Mui Gardens are great! This location does not disappoint. Free parking in the back is a plus in this area across from Metrotown. We ordered a half Hainan chicken, chicken rice and pineapple chicken fried rice. Will be back. Too hungry no pictures:)
The Victoria mui garden tastes better in my opinion
Rude and aggressive customer service. The spring rolls are friend frozen and were they werent cooked inside, still cold. The get us another pair but mushy and unpalatable. The chicken wings are just the wingettes. 4 pieces only for $9 plus. No space or seasoning. The fried rice as bland, but the honey garlic pork was good. Overall horrible experience with the rude customer service. She was short and not patient when asking questions. Not worth it overall.
Food was absolutely amazing and service was so quick and kind
A little too small but staffs were nice, and the food was delicious.
Good foods and portion. Friendly services. Family meal vibe. Food
Basic hole in the wall, well known for their curries and Hainan chicken and classical Cantonese casual fare
Was there to order take out. Asked to put breaded deep fried pork chop seperate from the curry as it makes it SOGGY! The lady said they were unable to put the pork chop in a seperate container like it was the end of the world. No one like soggy pork chops smh. So I ordered something else because it seem they cannot do a simple task by separating food. Prices are extremely overpriced for what you get. I recommend going over to Crystal mall instead or even the place next door. Would not go back.
This is a small restaurant and has limited seats. Food was pretty good and delicious. Service was quick when requested for additional utensils and chilli sauce. Will be back for round 2.
The food quality is not particularly good. The attitude of the waiters is very bad. I will never patronize it. The food quality was subpar, and the staff service was both rude and truly awful. I have no intention of returning never!
Newest Mui Garden location across from Metrotown. Not a very big interior. Hainan chicken seemed to be cut in rather large pieces (tho not a lot of meat). The chicken rice is good. Curry beef brisket is definitely a must. Again, the pieces were cut rather large which made it difficult to eat. But that curry sauce is prefect for sopping up with rice. I could just eat the curry sauce on rice and be happy. Feel like the food wasnt on par with their other locations but theyve just opened up so might be working things out.
The curry beef brisket was served cold. That was a dealbreaker for me. Also the waitress dropped a spoon into our soup, and claims that it s fine and clean. After I spoke out, they reluctantly replaced the soup. This is my first time and will be my last time at Mui Garden. Best of luck to this franchise.
This location of Mui Garden was recently opened some time before Christmas. We live in the area so we gave it a try. Ordered their popular curry beef brisket, salted fish and chicken fried rice and stir-fried long bean with minced pork. Overall, food is decent and service is good. There is nothing to complain about. Even though still not quite on par with the other locations, but they just need some time. Will definitely go back.
Just like the mui I remember from coquitlam... Need more of these type of Chinese quick eat around this area.
2022 Jan 15, I tried 1/ Satay chicken skewers in Meiyuan (the chicken was tender and smooth, but the satay sauce only had sweet and peanut flavor, not fragrant enough, and was slightly inferior! 2/ Pancakes with curry sauce (Pancakes are not hand pancakes) Its crispy, but the texture is a bit tough, and the curry sauce lacks the aroma of curry and only tastes like coconut milk, so numb!) 3/ Fried rice with minced olives, vegetables and meat (this one is delicious! The rice grains are distinct and fragrant. This one deserves a thumbs up. ! )
If you re craving hinanese chicken it ll do the job although we feel like the Victoria Dr. location has better quality food. I ll definitely come back soon
People tripping if they are coming to a Chinese restaurant for the dining experience. Youve been away from the motherland for too long. The service is what you expect, cold stares from waitresses that are there to feed your soul, not your sense of self worth. The HK style lemon ice tea will melt that mask right off your face. Its time to come back home son
Is this the 15 yuan Hainanese chicken set meal? terrible. If you go to the food court on the second floor of Regent, the Mala Sing or Ipoh Sprout Chicken are much more plentiful than this, and they are also much cheaper. Imagine that you want to order a work meal for lunch, thinking that the 15 yuan set meal should be good, but in the end you are not full. Isnt this a scam? At first we thought it was the food deliveryman who ate it, but later we asked Fantuan to confirm with the merchant. The merchant actually said it was a normal amount and the explanation given was incomprehensible. Is this how you made money when you first opened the store? Would you pay 15 bucks for this combo ? I would never again and I would avoid this restaurant like the plague.
First time visiting this location and it was great! The service was extremely fast and while the interior is small I am sure that is what helps the restaurant have such speedy service. I ordered the Hainan chicken, pea tips, Currey, green beans , walnut prawns, sweet and sour pork, french toast and all the dishes had excellent flavour. I will definitely be returning to try more of their food!
Always tasty food great curry
The food is delicious and the portions are generous, but parking is not easy. You can park in the shopping mall opposite and then walk across the street to dine in the store.
Food is available, but there is no parking space.
We had chicken curry and chicken salted fish fried rice. The fried rice was good but the chicken curry was watery.
I was quite skeptical coming based off some of the other review but my girlfriend wanted to try it. It completely exceeded my expectations. Great value and very big portions. Got the black bean beef chow mein and was quite impressed, one of the best I ve had in awhile. Will definitely be back.
black bean ribs fries noodles always the best in town
The curry beef brisket is too salty. It would taste wonderful if the chef can taste it and put less salt. The Hainan chicken was good.
Love the combo food they offer
Newer addition HKG style cafe in Metrotown area. Chain restaurant. Nice and clean. Service was ok and fast. Food was reasonably priced. Hot and freshly cooked. Mini set has limited items. Curry beef brisket and hainanese chicken are some of their signature dishes. Great place for a quick bite.
The food was good but the price of what you get is Way too expensive to eat out now.
one word, no good, Victoria drive branch is the best
The service attitude of the boss and staff is very good! Curry beef brisket, satay chicken skewers, sauce...! I like eating here and will come again I wish the boss a prosperous business
Curry beef wow. It reminds me of a mum and pop shop many moons ago in Vancouver. Good size beef chunks and potato. $15 is worth it and will come back over and over again. Only complaint is the potatoes in the brisket are to hard and crunchy. Almost every time I go. Once a week. The other location is much softer.
Bad service leaving without getting what I ordered after long time waiting.
This the worst Gantonese restaurant Ive been I went there alone and ordered a small Shanghai dumplings. 30 min.s after, I was still waiting. I asked the waiter to follow, he replied that it took LONG time to cook the dumplines. 30mins. long People were there later than me got their food. I highly doubted that Mui Garden did this purposely b/c my order was too small. Unbelievable aweful service
Its ok, food is decent not that great. Also one of the few chinese restaurant that dont serve chilli oil, they do have XO sauce which I dislike and they are very stingy about it too anyway...
Hainanese chicken rice is really delicious Although you may need to wait for some time after booking a table But I think its worth it
Good
Excellent Service, nice and efficient staff. Food are outstanding. Big portion of food. I am glad they are in this location near my office. =)
amazing food, great service, friendly people.
The most clean Vietnamese restaurant I ever been
Overall mid food with unfriendly service. Don t recommend
You know they didn t wash the vegetable well when you could still see dirt close to inner side of the stems. I was reminded I didn t order a beverage, and WAS ASKED for tip. Food was on par with any average Hk style tea restaurant, more to the salty side. I won t go back and do not recommend this restaurant because of their unfriendly service.
This place is very close to our house. My friend and I were both craving for fried rice and fried pork. The food is so good especially their chili oil! I wish I can buy one bottle of their chili oil! The service is great! Our server Sally and the Owner were both very nice. We will definitely come back!
Dinner was delicious tonight. The sweet and sour pork was on point! Every dish was great and perfect for sharing. We ordered a ton but dived right in before getting more photos. We left with leftovers for tomorrow. Parking: Street parking available depending on the time of day. Free lot out back for patrons.
Recently opened in Metrotown. Minimal renovation. Got a handful of AC units around, but still not too cool. It was not a exceptional hot day already. Still serving the same renowned curry dishes and satay skewers. Same old taste and still delicious. Note that cash and debit only. No credit card.
One of the worst Hainanese Chicken I have ever had.
Good food Malaysia type curry really fantastic. Not hot but delicious.
Its been a while since this newest Mui Garden opened their doors on the ever busy Kingsway in Burnaby! Ordered their basics to check out the quality and flavour and happy to report that this location was able to excel in all the items I ordered .. .. Hainanese Chicken was on point with both chilli sauce, ginger green onion sauce made to perfection! .. Muis own Singapore Fried Vermicelli, this is the original way that is unique at Muis. They dont use curry paste in their version and instead they use their own chilli paste which is way more pungent & spicy! .. Fried Fish Cake Noodles, they do not have as many choices of noodles as before but still maintained some basic items, missed their wontons & sui gaus!! With these basic items done right, I have more confidence to try out other items with my next visit! Being on Kingsway, parking is a challenge!!
Great food and portion, never disappointed
Awesome carries
Not as good as expected
Food is only okay compare to the Richmond location. Richmond is better. We ordered oil rice. It was gross, it was submerged in oil. We had to drain the oil out. Flies were flying everywhere, landed on all our dishes. They asked us to pay for the bill first. We did and even gave them a good tip. We asked for our dessert which supposed to come with our combo meal. They said they ran out of dessert and didnt compensate with anything. Wont go back sorry.
I was appalled by the service. My father asked a server for soy sauce, and the server blatantly ignored him. So I asked for water, and soy sauce from another server and they ridiculed me for being a princess asking. They forgot to give items, and the servers trash talked every table. It was sad, I spoke Cantonese, and knowing I spoke Cantonese. They still spoke poorly about everyone around me, when I sat 6 feet away. It was a revolting attitude. The food was good, but it isn t good enough I d go back.
Tried the take out curry Beef Brisket on rice and deep fried curry beef brisket. Both were okay but not spectacular or special in anyway. The portion for the deep fried curry beef brisket was quite small, the brisket was dry, the box was not filled, and scant veggies came with. Not bad, but just an average Asian food takeout experience.
I grew up eating Mui Garden at the Vancouver and Richmond location. My office is in Burnaby so this new location is perfect. Good food and service at a reasonable price! Make sure you try the Hainaness chicken and beef brisket curry!
Love the food! So fresh and cooked to perfection!
Was served very quickly which is great. Chain restaurant alike the many other ones. First day opening. Loved how the menu is simple and condensed to ensure items can come out fast. Unfortunately the plates, chopsticks were greasy (hard to see but the tea had a layer of grease on top after dunking). The Gai lan fried rice is kind of sad to be honest... It wasnt even one full piece of Gai lan but half of one. Not too impressed with that. My French toast was great otherwise though. And the coffee was fine too.
Just had satay rice noodles with beef. On menu says $14.95. Went to pay and was $16.90. Where does a 16% tax come into play? Takes cash only and no receipt... hmm...
Had beef and veggie chow mein.Reasonable quality. Not the best service. Waiteresses obviosly served chinese speaking customers more expediently and tended to refilling tea much sooner. Hadnt been given a menu and I get asked what I want to order. I had to wait for someone to take my order while a chinese guy is attended to the moment he sits down. I understood what they said to me. I spoke to waitress in English. Quite a limited menu also.No congee available. Not even won ton noodles.
Food was tasty. We especially loved the Hainese chicken & rice & the very authentic tasting Singapore fried vermicelli. Delicious. The curry beef brisket was ok but definitely seems like the meat was added to the sauce & not cooked in the sauce.
Service was great. Ordered a few dishes. I would say its above average really good Chinese food. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for some great Chinese food !!
Kingsway is known to have a lot of great restaurants. If youre bold enough to open here then you had better be ready. This place was definitely not ready. The front door doesnt close, I had to get up 3 times to close it because we were getting a cold draft. Everyone is so disorganized. The waitress cleaned our table but doesnt wipe it dry. We had to use our own tissue to pad it dry. The food is decent but the whole dining experience is not worth it. Dont even ask about the washroom. Yikes.
Did take out. Lots debugging required to meet their other branches standards so will wait a while to try again. Hainan chicken was overcooked, and ginger oil was missing salt. Their curry beef stew was tough as cows hides. Will wait at least another month before attempting to try again. Nice to have a Burnaby location but food quality definitely needs improvement. Heads up when ordering set meals, the desserts are only for dine in, you will not get any for takeouts.
Sorry to say, this is the most insincere Hainanese chicken rice I have ever tasted. The rice has no chicken fat smell, the chicken is not smooth and has no chicken taste. The ginger paste and other sauces are tasteless. I have to add soy sauce myself to make the soup. It tastes so good when mixed with water... I went to a restaurant in Victoria a few years ago and I already felt it was not good. But I saw some people saying that the new restaurant has improved, so I will try it again, but I will not patronize it again. Worst Hainanese Chicken rice that I have ever had in my life, from the chicken , rice to the sauce and even the soup had no flavor, don t waste your money on this, even T&T is better then this.
Sweet and sour pork and bitter melon beef is really good
Its a pleasant surprise to see a new HK restaurant option open in this part of Burnaby. I would never return to the Boss in Metrotown so I was looking forward to Mui. They have selections of staples HK style rice and noodle dishes. I didnt get to try their famous Hainese chicken rice (next time) the portions are just right. Their HK style lemon tea is really good. The only thing I didnt like is their washroom. It was so small it was hard closing the door when Im inside. Staff was attentive and food was fast and quick from order to table. Cash or debit only.
How nice to greet guests. The food is pretty good.
Thought wed try something new and ordered take out at the Burnaby Mui Garden Restaurant last night. Ordered $75 worth, the food was disappointing, the portions were small and expensive for what you got, so wont be going back again as there are much better options out there.
