I used to visit Dynasty Dumpling House frequently when it first opened, but I stopped going after noticing a decline in quality. However, I decided to return last week, and I’m pleased to say that things have improved considerably. The Xiaolongbao and dumplings are as delightful as ever, juicy, flavourful, and expertly made. The Pot Stickers are also excellent, with their perfectly crisp bases and tender, well-seasoned filling. The Camphor and Tea Smoked Duck is a standout dish, featuring tender, smoky meat and beautifully crispy skin. Another must-try is the Deep-Fried Tofu in Garlic Sauce, which boasts a satisfyingly crispy texture and a rich, garlicky sauce that’s truly indulgent. While some dishes remain slightly greasy, it’s within an acceptable range and doesn’t overshadow the flavours. Dynasty Dumpling House seems to have regained much of its original quality, making it a fantastic choice for authentic dumplings and a variety of other flavour-packed dishes. Well worth revisiting!
We ordered their Dried Scallop and Egg White Fried Rice. It was an absolute disappointment. We are regulars at Dinesty Robson, and have ordered this dish many times. The Robson location has great, consistent cooking, and never disappoints. While fried rice is one of the humbler dishes, they always cook it extremely well, with perfect seasoning. The Robson location is closed between 2-5pm, so we decided to order delivery from the Burnaby location. Huge mistake. The fried rice was basically unseasoned, very soggy and some chunks were even stuck together. While fried rice is often made with leftover rice, this was on another level, and NOT fried rice. The difference in quality between the locations is shocking.
Standard and efficient service. Food came super fast (made me a little worried if some dishes were pre-made). Spicy boiled beef was surprisingly good - asked for mild spicy level, even kids enjoyed it. Steamed pork and green bean were too oily.
We love Chinese and our friend wanted us to try this. It was a good experience and the food is typical Chinese. I loved everything and my favourite was their fried bean curd, so good and healthy too. Great location and service but a bit pricey compared to our other favourite Chinese restos. Worth the trip.
Spacious dining area, above par service, excellent Shanghainese/Taiwanese dishes. The chilled shredded chicken with jellyfish was tasty.....barely any jellyfish mixed in though so we ordered an additional dish of jellyfish, the pan seared gyoza's arrived to the table piping hot 👌, the spicy pork blood was a little too spicy for our liking, the pan fried pork buns were yum, and the pork dumplings were superb.
Xialongbao better than expected. Although this is a dumpling house, the Shanghai fried noodle was one of the best I have had. We made a reservation for lunch on a weekday but it probably wasn't needed, they weren't too busy.
Came here for lunch with my family on a Friday afternoon, not busy, or any wait at all. The parking lot by the Element Hotel has a parking entry on Willington, but it's not free, and the restaurant doesn't reimburse it. The food isn't as good as expected, was looking forward to the duck dish; it is a very common dish in shanghaiese restaurants, but the duck was dry on meat and greasy on the skin while it's not even crunchy. The other dishes were okay, and some were interesting by design.
Decided to revisit this place after more than 10 years. The service back then was indifferent. Not this time. Excellent service and dishes came out fast but not too fast. Good dishes. The XLB’s were much better as well. Before it was dry. The fried red bean pancake for dessert was good. While not close to Taiwanese “flavour” we are used to in Taiwan, still good dining experience. Recommended.
I don t know why, but most of the rice in today s bento is pot rice, which is too hard to eat! This has never happened before! I hope I won t encounter it next time I order.
The pine nut fish was completely tasteless and stale, and I had a stomachache all night after I got home. The fried rice is as oily as French fries. The thick fried noodles with shredded chicken had no shredded chicken at all and had a burnt taste. Rubbish restaurant, not recommended.
Their horrible service will shock you.
This is the best Chinese food I ve ever had. The texture and taste was outstanding. The waitress were attentive to everything.
Hands down one of the best Chinese food places I ve been the service was incredible with food being make in minutes fresh and hot the steak was so tender and soft it melted in my mouth the dumplings were amazing and full of flavour the atmosphere had a futuristic modern look that made you feel like loyalty it can be on the pricier side but kept me full for 4+ hours
For XLB taste, one of the best in Canada. But compared to Asia, still a notch below. As per receipt, most dishes pretty good. Especially the pan fried tofu, crispy edge with green onions nicely toasted and sweet soya sauce. Service is outstanding easy to glad a server and sure quick to add items. Washrooms much too tiny. Easy parking underground via hotel Elements beside it. Go to P3 to be on safe side. Loses a star for value. Used to be better priced for its XLB but hey that s inflationary times we live in.
Excellent soup dumplings
Loved the food! The tea duck with buns was one of the best duck dishes I have ever had. The pot sticker and soup dumplings were great.
good service, xiaolungbao is not that good, a bit pricey compared to the portion, and way too much msg
Quite busy. A good choice for Shanghai and Sichuan food and dim sum. Average consumption $40-50. Food
The quality of food here is unacceptable. My husband and I ordered the following items, and I will comment on them one by one: 1) Xiao Long Bao - Standard flavor 2) Smoked fish - The fish is not fresh -The sauce is not the standard taste for this dish either 3) Cold Shredded Chicken - no taste at all We usually take the rest of the food home, but we were left with half the smoked fish that we couldnt eat and wouldnt take home. When we told the waiter that the smoked fish was not only tasteless but also stale, she replied its just a taste youre not familiar with and the fish must be fresh. (Hey, why don t you try some chopsticks yourself?) This company should provide adequate staff training: many customers are not eating Shanghainese food for the first time, especially since we are Chinese and have been to Shanghai, Taiwan and Hong Kong many times ourselves. We can easily tell what is good and what is bad. As for the quality of the fish, there is so much seafood available to Vancouverites here. Will the fish be inedible if it is not fresh? A good company should listen to feedback and use it as a way to improve the quality of their food and service from their staff. Definitely wont go there again. The food presentation and taste has deteriorate in the past year
Everything on fleek. Especially impressed with xiao long bao, noodles, and veggies like pea tips. Dumplings made fresh on premises. All good.
Food is too salty! ! !
Shanghai fried noodle was very doughy and soft and not chewy like the usual noodles missing cabbage and other vegetables Eggplant was okay, tasted a bit off Overall food wasnt great, wasnt horrible either. Food : 3/5
Went for lunch during the weekend just before noon, quickly had a table and sat down. The servers were quite attentive, they provided kids bowl and utensils. Its a family friendly resturant. However, the food was a little on the salter side, but the foods came very quickly after ordering. Their sticky rice with taro in bamboo holder was interesting and tasty. *forgot to take photo this time. i also like their mayo shrimp ans pineable dish.
Normal quality, not said to be delicious Today I ordered Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp Pot Stickers, Sauce Duck, and Cucumber and Jellyfish Head
Challenging to find parking. Good Shanghai taste and open view to kitchen. MSG overload.
It sucks that this location is the closest to me, but is truthfully the worst one. I have gave it a chance over three times now and every time the food is not good. If you can definitely go to the downtown location, it has never disappointed
Best dumpling in town
When I ordered food on doordash, one pan-fried bun was missing from the meal. We immediately called to confirm. On the first call, they said they would confirm it for us and immediately hung up on me. The second call also hung up directly, and the third call was another one. When we were picked up, he said he would help us deal with it and then said that the food had already been placed inside and could not be redone. He asked us to contact the customer service of the platform ourselves. The attitude was very bad! But we just didn t receive our meals ? Should we handle it ourselves? Moreover, the take-out package was not sealed or had a receipt attached, terrible service attitude!
I usually order from Skip The Dishes, and my orders are typically over $100, which results in an additional $30 charge when using the app. This time, I decided to call in my order, but the person on the phone didn t understand English, so I opted not to proceed. Ordering through the app costs about 30% more. While the food is decent, its definitely overpriced for the portion sizes. I think Ill start considering other options for future orders.
Mapo tofu was delicious, but really salty. XLB are okay.
Staff can be replaced by kiosk, dont expect any service. They should remove the tip option.
So I was holding a baby and they had like 10+ tables open with cutlery all setup ready for customers but all the staff just looked at me and turned around one finally came and said one second, she then proceeds to serve other people, and took some other tables order, clean up a bit, made me wait a long time all while I was holding my baby, so I yelled at them and walked out, terrible experience, super bad customer service, I used to go here alot but after this experience I will never come back here again. Luckily next door the hotpot place the girls were nice and took us in right away.
Food is always good but service levels are not consistent. Definitely would go back for food Shanghai style food.
Delicious fried rice, Kung Pao squid, Mapo tofu, Shrimp with scrambled eggs. Every dish has its own deliciousness
I usually have a great experience going to this restaurant but not this time around. I found a HAIR in my sakura fried rice and voiced to one of the waitress about it. She took it back then Ive heard and saw her yelled at the kitchen staff. That was unprofessional, not only that but they didnt make a new rice dish for me (probably toke out the hair and then served it back to me).... poor business, lack of accountability, and the staff looks miserable. To add to, I didnt get an apology or discount on my bill.
The food is delicious and the environment is comfortable. But the beef noodles would like to suggest that people can choose noodles, after all, no one likes different noodles. I like wide-cut noodles, not homemade noodles. So for the beef noodles I ordered today, I only had a few bites of the noodles.
The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly and helpful!!
Been a while since we were last here. Looks like they did some renos since our last visit... Plus they also have a robot server which delivers your dishes (sort of). Of course, the reason to visit this place is their xiao long bao (they have a few varieties). I feel like their dumplings have gotten a bit smaller over time. Not bad but I remember them being better. I do like that they give everyone their own dipping sauce so you dont have to share. Added a few other dishes like the hot and sour soup, stir-fried vermicelli, and the seafood with veggies. All pretty good. Update Apr 2024: Theres a reason why this place is one of our staples for xlb... consistency. Wrappers are fairly thin yet hold up pretty well without breaking and adequate soup inside. Individual vinegar dipping sauce with ginger. The dumplings are on the smaller size but you get 8 with your order and they are piping hot. Also got the fried sweet and sour grouper which is a stunning dish to look at.
Hello! Please enjoy reading this review about my experience at Dinesty. (This reviews target is to save money from my people of the Lower Mainland.) Our family chose Dinesty to celebrate my grandpas birthday, but unfortunately, it turned out to be an utterly disappointing experience. Despite the occasion, the three servers at Dinesty showed no interest in providing even the most basic level of service. Instead, their behaviour bordered on disrespectful. ( ) Throughout the meal, empty dishes piled up on our table, ignored by the servers, who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves or, in one instance, engrossed in their phones. (I want to be paid to be on my phone as well!!!). Its disheartening to witness such disregard, especially on a special occasion like my grandpas birthday. The lack of attention and care shown by the staff was simply unacceptable. If only they were as dedicated to their jobs as they were to checking their phones, perhaps the experience would have been more enjoyable. Dinestys failure to meet even the most fundamental service standards tarnished what should have been a memorable celebration. My grandpas birthday celebration was oblivious to Dinestys goofball service, but we wont let it dampen our spirits. (Because we are good people.) Well be taking our celebrations elsewhere in the future, where our patronage is valued and appreciated. (Im telling you, Crystal Mall! Its right across the street) Dinesty, take note: genuine service goes a long way in ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty. To those good employees at Dinesty, find somewhere better to work. Your reputation at Dinesty will be smeared to the floor to the point of no return. P.S. How on the face of this planet does your san zhen bao and xiao long bao have NO JUICE?!? Please read the discription of a Xiao Long Bao that I found on google. Xiao Long Bao (XLB), or soup dumplings, are probably the most famous of Shangais steamed dumplings, and rightly so. These are delicately pleated balls of dough with broth and pork meat filling. Yes - they dont float in the soup. Instead, they encase the yummy WARM BROTH inside the dough wrapper. WHERE?? WHERE IS MY WARM BROTH? This is a disgrace to the Chinese Community. Lots of Love, A
I feel like not even giving it one star. This place offers oil in a plate and calls it food. I was throughly disappointed by the taste and price point really bad taste. I did have nausea after coming home.
Soup dumplings soup dumplings!!! Havent had anything here that I didnt like. Except for my bill afterwards which my cc didnt like! Can get very busy and service slows down a bit but they try their best.
Clean, open, modern dining room. Parking at the Kingsway location is a challenge. We ve visited various Dinesty locations over the last few years. Food is consistent and tastes fresh. Pictures on the menu is a plus!
VERY VERY good tasting food here in Burnaby..we have tried so MANY from the menu now- and it is definitely a GO TO place for a really great taste- with every choice! QUALITY and QUANTITY..servers .. really nice.. the place is SO clean. ALL the dishes are nicely, timely, and attractively served..excellent different flavours amongst. Tgeir prices are fair. Their truffle dumplings in particular are SO incredibly tasty! Many New menu items! Try smoked duck there -delicious-as is EVERYthing else we have tried! WOW! Not even ONE complaint here! You will NOT likely be disappointed! Prices are actually quite reasonable. There are lineups at certain day times- but never too long a wait..closed Tuesdays, I believe it is. Kid-friendliness: Yes! Bring them all! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, ground level.
Several interesting facts of this place: 1. You can not separate bill on weekend. 2. Waiters are going to staring on you if you pay low tips they are going to say something bad for example You should never dine in but take out or order for delivery . 3. Absolutely overpriced food and oversalted . I want to say that Chinese food and restaurant should not indicate oversalted and bad service but this place absolutely fits in this stereotype. P.S. the seafood dumplings is worst than the original pork dumplings if you insist to come.
The duck was very dry and food was very saucy.. the waiting stuff was trying to get us out as fast as they can..
Are small portions and overpriced. Not coming back because there are better restaurants than them in that area. We ordered signature Chinese dishes, but none of them met the standard. Never fill up our hot tea or ask hows the dishes, and they are expecting a 15% tip. They should increase their customer service skill to get that much of tips.
Extremely bad! Terrible service from staff and terrible food!
NOT RECOMMENDED! The steamed XO sauce dumplings are not fresh at all. There is a wired flavor in it. And the dishes are absolutely overpriced. The stir-fried cuisine is acceptable but the price is still not worthy. The waitress is so rude. If you agree that tip is optional, how can you ask the customer DO NOT to dine-in for the next time. Worst dine-in experience ever!
This place used to be good but no longer. Noodles with house made meat sauce was sooo salty. Pan fried buns had barely any meat in them. This place has increased in price but quality declined significantly. I would not recommend this place.
Eating in was ok but take outs are horrible value and nasty very small protein portion -3 piece of fish, a hair was found in the food, and some of their side dish tasting funky and sour. Last time ordering from this place. .. ordered a $8 soup and it had almost nothing inside, barely any ribs and veggies were not edible.
Their stewed pork in brown sauce gave me food poisoning
This restaurant is part of a well-established chain with numerous branches. While it boasts an extensive menu, the flavors of the dishes are generally average. The pricing is positioned in the middle range, striking a balance between not being overly expensive and not particularly budget-friendly. Despite the modest culinary experience, the widespread availability of these establishments can make them a convenient choice for various occasions.
We ordered the steam chicken, but the meat was still bloody raw. We asked the server s opinion, but she said that s the way how the chicken was cooked and refused to exchange. We spent $106.50 there, everything was so sweet sugar taste. We don t like eating food like dessert. No one came to ask if it was everything ok or if we need more tea or water. We won t come back because we don t like sweet food and eat raw food.
Food is good not bad, service is fast but eveyrthing is overpriced. Small portion not worth it. Came out hungry
For a dim sum place, I find the food average/ mediocre but the price they charge is at a premium. Also - the service isn t the greatest, when you enter the restaurant feels sleepy and the people working aren t so attentive / polite.
The environment is okay, the service is basically non-existent, the dishes are basically pre-made, the taste is good, but too oily! There was no broth in the beef patty and it was all oil! There is too much oil in the fried rice! Also, the portions of each dish are very small, which is not worthy of the price.
Ordered off UberEats here and found a bandaid in my food. It is definitely a bandaid because it has the pores, fibers, and elasticity a bandaid would have. It was also in my mouth at one point and was difficult to chew
Tiny portions, three cup chicken was mostly bone. overpriced for what it is.
Food came out fast with good flavor but please clean the washrooms. Ruined the entire experience and lost my appetite.
Love their dumplings!
Warning food poisoning alert!!!! My friends ate here the other day and within 24 hours my one friend had watery bowel movements, vomiting, stomach cramps, fever and chills. She s okay now, but it was definitely from the dumplings at this restaurant. Something was undercooked or rotten.
After a week travel in US and even had a chance to try one Michelin Star Din Tai Fung which is well known of its soup dumpling (Xiao Long Bao), I found out Dynasty is by far better. I spent about USD130 for 4 in DTF Seattle while I only spent around CAD 70. It is a very good value 2nd post about Dinesty and this time we havd 11 ppl for diner. Nearly almost all dishes were in great quality. I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead (no need to pay) and we are allow to sit in a corner like a private room Parking: Lots of parking in underground paid parking. Chance is that you can find street parking and I found a lot of people dont pay their meter Wheelchair accessibility: I dont see any stairs and there are lot of space for wheelchair to access. The restaurant also have their own robot going in between table
it s very good I was craving chinese food and this was v good. price is very reasonable - ambience is good! would recommend
Went here with family including two kids, 4 and 7. Super good food. We would go here again. Everyone loved the food!
The fried tofu is okay. The red oil sauce is not very authentic but it s okay. It s suitable for people who don t like spicy food. Some bad ones: Beef patty too greasy Their Xiao Long Bao is particularly unpalatable. Neither the noodles nor the fillings taste good. It doesn t taste like Xiao Long Bao at all. There is also a Shanghai soup that is not good. The bacon in it is very fat and salty, and the bamboo shoots are not chewable. Basically, you can only eat some vegetable leaves. Wont go again
The dumpling soup was surprisingly good.
We went to the one on Kingsway in Bby. This stores staffs were very mean. When we entered the restaurant the staff with cool face to us also nothing to say. After we just finished our food. The waitress immediately bought us the bill. She was holding the machine waited us to pay. It was no one waiting there and lots of the empty tables available. Even food quality is good but the customer services are poor.
I went to this restaurant and the staff had the worst behavior to me. There was a lady as a cashier. I asked her when my order will be ready? She said with loud voice YOU HAVE TO WAIT!!! I was speechless. I ordered noodles with pork and wrap which was the worst food I have ever eaten. Now I have diarrhea and I can not go to work tomorrow I guess. Uber eats deliverers where so angry because they were wasting their time. So rude and the worst food I have ever eaten. By the way I found hair in my food and I couldn t continue eating... Worst experience in my life thanks to those rude staff, DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT IF YOUR MONEY AND TIME IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU.
OMG! Dont go to this place. Rude staff, Worst food ever, took 2 hours to bring our food. IDK why there was many people in it! I wish I could give them zero stars.
My favourite place to come to eat donair
this restaurant is my worst nightmare. I wish I had never gone here. Disrespectful personnel. Foods are horrible. I couldnt even hear my friends voice because it was so crowded. 0 out of 10 is my rate to this place.
The male waiters attitude was very good. Its a good restaurant for a change of taste, but its still different from authentic Shanghainese food. Can give 3.8 points
Love love love this place, very spacious, service on point and the soup dumplings were amazing
Dumplings!!!!
Nice spacious restaurant for getting a huge variety of Shanghainese/Taiwanese food. The robot server was cool for the kids. The XLBs were great. The veggies were plentiful and the beef noodle soup was also pretty good. Great family restaurant.
Very delicious
Lost my appetite when a dead/cooked fly was found in the Simmer Napa Cabbage dish! Period!
Very bad quality. Especially , very disappointed . Never go back again
Food and specialty drinks were delicious!! Service could be a bit improved with checking in more.
Excellent location.
Decent food, but whether due to the pandemic or not, the quality of food has gone down. I had seen the better days of this restaurant... Its kind of sad to see it go down hill Food
The XLB here is not as good as the Richmond location. Mainly the skin is thicker and less soup inside. At least I got to try the truffle XLB here. The thick noodle was full of onions but great flavours. The rice needed a tad more salt and the beef was flavourful.
Taiwanese style Shanghai foods. The xiaolongbao is pretty standard. My favorite is the pork and shrimp wonton, it uses a whole shrimp with pork. Theres street paid parking in front. Good choice for a warm meal on a cold rainy Sunday.
No only Chicken Long Bao on menu (Not everyone likes pork)
Food tastes bland. Service is passable
Great dim sum. The soup dumplings are delicious! Has a huge variety of dishes to explore. I especially like the stewed eggplant dish.
It was taiwanese style when it first opened years ago, and it was good. Now the taste and the way they cook shifted to more mainland Chinese style, which is greasy and salty. Steam dumplings and xiaolongbao perhaps still ok because it is steamed. The other dishes are salty and oily, taiwanese never cook like that. Need to have a strong heart and healthy blood vessels for their food. I only recommend the steam xiaolongbao and dumplings.
Its been years (pre COVID) since we last visited the Richmond location. Came on a whim for dinner at 8pm on a Sunday. Note last call is 8:30pm! Its still a solid choice for good dumplings, noodles and other dishes. The beef roll was perfectly done and flakey. We found the rice cakes and pork chops to be a bit too saucy and needed a bit more fire to bring the flavour. We shared an ancient boil chili fish which was brimming with fish and veg. Wonderful flavour that I remembered.
The GREAT: steamed dumplings are tasty as expected. The darkened truffle ones are a novelty and taste ok (assume you must like truffle) . The green beans w minced pork were delicious. The GOOD: fried rice. The BAD: service is slow to sit you even when they had available tables AND VERY NOISY. More than usual busy places. Perhaps the acoustics of the restaurant?? Bottom line: we will go again but maybe less busy part of the day/week. Ok, we went again Sat May 27, 2023 when it opened at 5pm... Definitely less noisy and more enjoyable experience!! Food came fast and service was better. Added egg yolk/custard buns which my wife thought was pretty good - though Pink Pearls Dim Sum restaurant is still better! Also, got small hot and sour soup which I thought was VERY tasty.
Good food at decent prices! I hadn t been here in years. We had dine in dinner. Our rating is based on 5 stars as the highest: Food: 4/5 decent portions with sufficient seafood. FYI- the menu said prawns which is really shrimp for 2 of the dishes we ordered. Dumplings were okay. Ambience: 5/5 Value: 4/5 Customer service: 4/5 Go early as there can be waits. There s metered parking is on Kingsway.
The Shancheng spicy chicken is not bad. It tastes crispy and fragrant after being fried, but the seasoning is a bit too salty and needs to be served with rice. The fried rice cake is average
Ordered the Xiao long bao (pork soup dumplings) and a fried noodles dish. The food tasted fine as expected. But IMO the prices are high and the portion size of the noodle dish is quite small. The washroom was clean, but the bathroom practices of the CUSTOMERS were unsanitary (they dont flush the toilet and dont wash hands afterwards).
Good food. Its an attempt to replicate Ding Tai Fung (GTA) food for west coast Canadians but still has its own dishes too. One of the best place for soup dumplings and stir fry shanghai food.
Pretty good and reasonable price.
2 major problems. Went for the Wednesday special to be told it was sold out. Yet I was still able to order the beef noodle by itself. As good PR, should Dinesty not offered substitute dumplings? Worst yet, I got major food poisoning. Went to Dinesty at about 7:30. By 1:30am, severe stomach cramps. Paying for a XLB that tasted rotten as I bit into it. Ugh.
Ordered take out from them the food tasted great until I discovered an used floss dental soft pick in my noodles. Extremely disgusting...The cook or someone in the kitchen must have been flossing while cooking and dropped it in there. Now, I want to puke everything I ate out.
The food was good, but the portions were quite small for the price.
Update after several years later.... Drunken chicken: extremely watered down and barely any hua diao. Chicken was dry and bland. Xlb, pork was not fresh and had a lot of pepper to cover the stinky pork flavor. Onion pancake rolled in beef, the beef was good but pancake was so oily and the sauce wasnt the right sauce so flavor isnt traditional. Red Bean pancake and red oil dumpling were the only things that I would try again. The dumping itself was good but the sauce wasnt too interesting. The red Bean paste was good. Was really worried about the place being too hot so we went early. Glad we did as it will probably be very hot if it was crowded. The restaurant beside this has very good AC and its. Hotpot place so definitely not an issue with the building. ----- its extremely stuffy and hot in the restaurant. Feel a bit faint from dining here... Lol... Food was good I think? but I couldnt really tell when its like a sauna...
Limited parking.
Food
Dimsum here is great Parking: Kingsway street. Food : 5/5 |
Excellent restaurant. I recommend the xiaolongbao, the shanghai style noodles and the camphor tea smoked duck. Absolutely delicious. Service is fast and no frills. Restaurant is clean and spacious.
Food is very delicious !
There is no nut free option, if you have nuts allergies, dont go. If you have any other food allergies, you HAVE to tell them before they place the order, they wont ask (That was their explanation). Dietary restrictions: No nut free option
Food was really good had abit of everything and nothing disappointed. The dumplings was honestly amazing.
Very nice food and the price is ok. I recommend you eat this delicious food
Food was just ok? I dont love ding tai fung but taste wise its a level above this place. The pricing is affordable though.
price to performance ratio is sub par
Horrible, raw, stinking dumplings. Never going to order from this restaurant. My suggestion don t!!! Tasteless noodles. Had to put our food in the trash! Sleept hungry.
service was efficient and friendly. we stopped in for lunch and got the xiaolongbao, stir fried noodles with chicken and pan fried potstickers. within 10 minutes of ordering our food arrived. it exceeded expectations, everything tasted amazing, a ton of flavour! would highly recommend!!
Food was ok but don t expect too much. For the price there s definitely better quality funds in the city
Good place to have Chinese food in Vancouver. Service was quick and accommodated special dietary requests. Huge seating arrangement which could easily seatup to 80 over diners. Our food was delicious, but lacks the bit of spiciness.
Just bad!! no words.
Food Not bad, small portion.
They were out of their famous dumplings! Hows that even possible?! But great atmosphere, really pretty and relaxed. Service was good too. Other foods were yummy and reasonably priced.
For a food court Chinese food, I was pleasantly surprised and I enjoyed my noodle dish.
Good food, but when you charge 35 cents for a takeaway box, thats when I decide not to leave a tip and not return for dinner.
First time here and extremely disappointed. Came with families and friends on Sunday morning. Everything tasted like from last night s leftovers. The beef wraps were solid hard and cold. The smoke duck was cold, and dry. The sweet and sour squirrel fish which tasted rubbery. The stewed pork with tofu was very salty.
Not even finished .. The environment and service is good but food is just okay
Went here for a friends birthday. Every time Ive been with my Asian friends the service has been good. However, at my friends birthday which included a more diverse group, the service was absolutely terrible! Our waitress scowled at our friends of different racial backgrounds. The Asians in our group got their orders first, but the others were missing parts of their order. When we mentioned the missing items to our server, she insisted that she had already provided them, despite this not being the case. I even overheard her calling one of our friends gweilo to her coworker. Absolutely unacceptable racial discrimination.
Not bad
Good spot on Burnaby for quick food. Plenty of tables here so not sure if you need to make reservations, it was half full when we went. Lots of options on the menu as well as lots of options for different types of dumplings. Good comes out fairly quick and the service was good.
Not tasty at all
Great food, bit small portion compare to other Chinese restaurants.
After a morning of shopping at Metrotown, a debate arose between my parents whether lunch would be at a HK bistro type restaurant in the mall or Shanghainese on Kingsway just outside. My mom wanted Shanghainese and she won. My husband and I had been to Dinesty on Robson in Vancouver many times so I was pleasantly surprised there are more than one location and the one in Burnaby was the one my mom wanted to visit. We walked in at about 13:30. It was quiet on Tuesday afternoon. We later learnt that they would close at 14:30 for the afternoon. We somewhat knew what we wanted ahead of time and placed our order for hot and sour soup, pan fried thick noodles with pork, pork XLBs and scrambled egg with prawns, shortly after we were seated. All the dishes were quite good. My dad and I are not big fans of hot and sour soup (heat and tartness) but my mom loves it. My favourite was the scrambled egg and prawns. The egg was fluffy and slightly gooey with perfect seasoning. The XLBs were very juicy as well. I was, however, very impressed with the services. We were served over the course by 2 wait persons. They were both courteous and prompt. We put down $70 cash to cover our bill of $63 including tips. The waitress took the tray away to the cashier for change. For some idiotic reason, I thought we would only walk away with $2 back (instead of $7) so I waved at the waitress to keep the change. We were putting on our jackets and getting ready to leave. She came back with our change and asked if I was sure because the tip would have been too much. Then it dawned on me that I did the math wrong in my head after I paid and took just $5 back. I thanked her.
The food was disappointingly mediocre; Ive been to a Dinesty in Richmond before, and I remember enjoying that a lot more. We got the kimchi pork soup dumplings (fine, but nothing to write home about), pan fried pork buns (completely wrong, only a thin layer of crispy on the bottom), flaky scallion pancakes (way too oily from being deep-friend, I can only assume, and bland), radish cake (awful - there was meat in it, the pastry dough was chalky, ugh). Service was good, atmosphere was very pleasant, quite empty when we showed at 11:30 on a Friday, but increasingly busy.
Went for dinner at opening time so was seated right away. The food all tastes really healthy, I think they use leaner meats in their dumpling filling. The XLB had an herbal flavour soup, and the pan fried pork buns were so soft and fluffy. My favourite was the steamed fish dumpling though, very fresh seafood flavour. Will definitely come again with more family to try more foods.
No complaint. All good.
Came on a Saturday night and waited out the rain and for a table. Ended up being a ~30 minute wait. Ancient boiled chili fish hit the spot. A bit on the oily side but expected from good Chinese food. Really big portions and fairly priced
Wow...the food was very salty (high in sodium and MSG) during my visit to this restaurant. Even the soup was salty. Maybe my blood pressure went up a few points after having my dinner there. Service was just OK as they seems to be understaff. It took the server some time to refill the tea pot. Also dinner was restricted to 1.5 hours so everything seems rush. It seems as though the restaurant served everything all at once with only a few minutes break in between dishes. They want the table turnover as quickly as possible thus eating is limited to 1.5 hours only. Not happy....I cant enjoy my meal. Im not sure if theres an underground parking but I parked on the street - meter parking.
Nothing is tasty. A lot of canned And precooked dishes are heated then served. Wasting time and money to eat there.
I came here with no expectations because Wangs Soryongpo restaurant, which I used to frequent nearby, was closed, but the dumplings and fried rice here were all good, so I had a good time. Ill come back next time.
I came here to leave a message because we ordered a $20.95 scallop and bean curd roll, but it turned out that there were only mushrooms in the bean curd. Where can we find the scallops? Finally, I found a mini scallop in the bean skin! Is it too exaggerated? The price of a small dish is not cheap, but it cuts corners like this! Although it is very close to my home, I never dare to eat there again! Anyway, the quality of the food is not stable. I went there twice and some of the dishes were delicious! But every time I go there, I always order mine or it s too salty! Forget it! It s really a waste to cut corners!
Have a dinner
This place is right beside my work and I tried it for the first time yesterday, amazing food. The pork soup dumplings and ancient chili beef dish are amazing. Be careful with the beef one though because youll be tasting spice out of two spots if you know what I mean!
I was happy to have dinner with my family, but I was annoyed by the cashiers attitude. I paid $108 for a $96.88 order and said I didnt need to change it. My husband and I had already counted it, but we were refunded more than $4. I didnt understand. When I asked why, the cashier said We only paid $101. After negotiation, she said she was too busy, not sure, and didnt know, but insisted that she had done nothing wrong. She still didnt apologize or couldnt afford it, but I felt insulted. Its a good restaurant. , shoddy staff, what a pity, I believe I will not patronize it again! 12-12-2023, 8:00pm This happens in many Burnaby stores!
The cashier had a bad attitude. He didnt apologize when he made a mistake. He misunderstood the customer and underpaid. He just said he was too busy and didnt know clearly. He insisted that he was not wrong. Its a pity that a famous restaurant has such employees! 12-12-2023 8 pm Yes, what happened at the Burnaby store! I believe I will not patronize it again in the future!
do not order take out from here with door dash or uber or whatever. Their lunch special with drinks will take over an hour. I called the restuarnt and see if my order was ready. the lady over the phone rudely told me that if you order a drink with your order, it will take more than an hour to be ready. do not ever order take out from this place with your delivery apps.
Dumplings are the best part!
Always a great meal at Dinesty. My favourite place for Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) and the best bowl of hot and sour soup around. Highly recommended.
You could definitely have better soup dumplings in the crystal mall foodcourt..
Food was alright. Not spectacular. Average. Place was quiet on a Sunday. Hope this place make it. It has been slowly going quiet since it opened. Take outs will help. 15 workers on a shift needs the revenue to pay the overhead cost.
2022/07/11 Today s meal time is 1:50, which is close to their 2:30 lunch break. We measured the time required for our meal, so we decided to spend. As a result, the two of us were seated at a table for two and ordered a small dish. Long Bao is just a big steamer, and when you order a bowl of beef noodles, there is no room to eat. How difficult is it to give guests a comfortable place for four people? There are three other tables for four people, and there are only two people eating. The hostess is the face of the hostess. We have to request to sit in the four-seater table. The hostess has an unhappy look on her face and pays the bill. You just don t give a tip, so you guys should know what s the problem? Why can two people at other tables be seated for four people when they are dining? Understand that the most important thing is for the guests to dine comfortably. We, the waiter, didn t even read the menu after ordering the meal. Do the guests owe you? If you feel aggrieved, dont come to work, just have a meal, and you still have to suffer, what kind of onion are you?
This place has bad attitude servers and has hair in their dishes. Got take out a few days later, also had hair right when i opened the bag.
One star is more than enough for this location. The food was not too good but not really bad, but something wrong here about customer service. The way they brought the food to us just simply like throwing the dishes on the table, without even one word to let us know; and it continually happened throughout our meal. They didn t even bother cleaning the dishes, we had to finish our dessert with a table full of dirty dishes. When it was almost their closing time, after noticing us, they just threw the bill on the table and waited for us to stop eating and pay. We left while the servers whispering to each other behind our back. Will not come back to this location and will also not recommend any of my friends to go here..
Lady demanded tip. We paid card but were going to leave a cash tip but before we could, she started to question why we didnt tip and if we dont like the service next time we should pick up the phone ( hand gesture) and do take out. Very rude! Robot brings the food. Very disappointed as the food was delicious but the lady was awful. Doesnt work like that here. Very unprofessional and mean.
Edit: this was my 3rd time, and I have to edit my previous review. Seems like Dinesty was too busy pre-pandemic, and customer service dropped. Now that its calmer again, I guess the staff are less stressed. The staff were very polite, and the food was fast. When I told them the washroom ran out of soap, they refilled it right away. It was totally different than my previous stays. The food was meh, but it wasnt bad either. Just a bit greasy and salty :) The price was actually pretty reasonable. Seems they didnt raise the price after inflation especially after gas prices skyrocketed. This is my second time to this place. The first was in Aberdeen. I was not Impressed. Today at the Burnaby branch, I was disappointed. The service here was disgusting. We arrived and wrote our names down. The girl at the front told us the wait would be at least 30 minufes. We said we would take a breather and be back in a couple minutes since it was a long wait. We crossed the road and walked back after 7 minutes. Then the same staff angrily walked over and told us that she called our name right when we left the door. We would have to wait another 30 minutes. Thats outrageous! We were told at least 30 minutes wait, not 30 seconds. When we finally got seated, the all of the staff ignored us. It took us forever to call a server. While we were waiting, one of the staff put a bill on our table. Then he took it back and gave it to the next table. It wasnt ours. Very unprofessional. After we ordered, the food arrived. It was very expensive. Now I know why everyone goes to the xiao long bao place in Crystal Mall. Its way better and cheaper. The noodles were soaked with Soy Sauce and very salty. The xiao long bao was very tiny and pathetic looking. There was virtually no soup inside. When I went to the washroom, their utilities werent even working. Then it took us another forever to call a server for the bill. When we finally got ones attention, he told a waitress to attend to us. Then they continued to ignore us. We waited another 10 minutes. Im never coming back here again.
Really tasty place for Taiwanese and Shanghai cuisine. Large menu with something for anyone. Only complaint is the poor air conditioning as the place was absolutely baking when we went during the recent heat wave. So, be warned if you go on a very warm day as it may be quite warm inside. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options on the menu.
The food is okay; the taste is a bit repetitive between dishes and all so greasy. When we arrived, the staff member was grumpy and putting down the plates aggressively. Additionally, the bathroom is small and feels cramped. We probably won t come back here again.
Food was good but the service was poor. Does not remove empty dishes to make more room. Asked them to but still won t. Requested for small plates to serve cake as it was our sons birthday but wanted us to pay first before they do it. Never had this happen at any restaurants.
Good food, overall pretty good. Main reason Im reviewing is that the mens washroom has no locks. The stall has had its bolt removed and the only thing that keeps the door closed is a little garbage can in the corner you push against the door. The washroom door itself has a lock, but its bolt has also been removed so its useless. Pretty weird for a 1 person washroom.
mouth watering shao long bao was scrumptuous!
Soup dumplings and Shanghai noodles are a must try ! The service was excellent and we received the food fairly quickly. It was all delicious and worth it :) definitely will be returning.
Small and crowded. Food not as good as other locations and the AC insufficient. Wifi was allegedly down but was able to connect.
Delicpus alittle pricey ... u get what u pay for ...
We ve been here, as well as the Robson location, a few times. The food has always been okay, so is the service. However, this visit made me want to post a review. The two of us ordered two dishes: shredded pork with rice cakes and braised pork with buns. The rice cakes were decent, quite standard. The braised dongpo pork was not what we had expected. We expected the pork to be cooked long enough to partially melt in your mouth and more flavourful. We were surprised to find the pork plain (or what we say white-cut in Chinese) with the sauce on top, rather than cooked with the sauce fully absorbed. It was also far from melting in your mouth. We even waited 20 minutes for this dish! When we asked about it, we were told that it was supposed to be like that.
2 stars for food, 4 stars for environment, 1 star for service
Edit: 3 stars off now. We went back to do takeout, got their top XO fried rice, and we found very small bone fragments inside! not suitable for little kids and seniors at all! 2 stars off due to the unpleasant & uncomfortable attitude of the server. Also they gave us a dirty bowl for our table, it had dried sauce on the side. How they missed it is beyond me. If you are bringing relatives, I suggest other branches. Decor and space is not as nice as the one in Richmond. But if you are taking out, its fine. + food was cooked quickly and you can tell how hard working the chefs are (the kitchen has a glass wall) + food was delicious, highly recommend all of their top picks on the menu, you cant go wrong with those. + street parking in front as well as underground parking in the building. Parking entrance on Willingdon Ave. We arrived at 11:10, they opened at 11. The server that we had had a scowl on her face... like we forced her to start her job early. I was a server before, so I do not understand it. There were only 3 other tables, so she wasnt incredibly busy or stressed. She was in a rush to take our order, and when we were eating I heard someone banging plates & was going to look up expecting a baby/toddler at another table. No it wasnt. It was the same scowling server putting away plates on the shelf, pushing and throwing them (perhaps showing the manger she is busy?). We still tipped, but would take out from now on.
bad service
Good tasty Shanghai cuisine. Amongst the best.
Excellent dim sum and cooking.
Shanghai noodle is chewy and tasty. Xiao long bao is good too. All dishes I ordered are well seasoned but I feel like they are missing a kick of flavor. Will try other dishes next time.
Food was great and service was excellent. Priced was decent.
Quite good. We expected dim sum carts but it was off menu offerings. A bit on the pricey side for what you get for some dishes, others were good portions for the price. Service was slow & not really attentive. Overall, I would go back for the so-called regular dishes like fried rice, beef & greens, Shanghai noodles etc. & get dim sum dishes elsewhere. Recommended. $$$ 3/5 .
Place was alright food was good for the price.
Food was alright, the vegetable dish we ordered was burnt. Staffs were rude, brought our food and just stood there and wait for us to clear the table for them(super awkward). They didnt even removed empty plates. With so many other similar options around, not sure if we wanted to come back any time soon. Food : 2/5
Nice rest
We went as a group of three and got seated immediately. Service was quick, restaurant was clean and it started picking up after we got seated. Food was fine but for the price I expected better.
First time being to the Burnaby location. Overall good experience. Parking is a bit of a nightmare though, there is parking at station square, save on or crystal mall for free or you can pay $2/hr to park underground
Loved the soup dumpling! Service was great. dessert was served first even though we told the server to serve it later pan fried beef was dry I always loved salted egg bun from other xlb place because it s runny, but I m surprised the salted egg filling here is dry . It was still good though
I like the soup and dishes here. The xiaolongbao is not recommended here. Its just simply common xiaolongbao like you can have everywhere. But the fry noodle and fry rice is still good. Overall, it is a common level chinese cuisine restaurant, no surprising features but also no obvious disadvantages.
I visited Dinesty in Richmond three years ago and it was delicious, xiao long bao was perfect and the beef rolls were flavourful. That was Richmond, this one on Kingsway was a terrible disappointment. The XLB was delicious as so was the shrimp dumpling, however the beef wrap utterly failed as it was dripping with oil and tasteless. For desert we ordered salted egg bun and it was dry, there was taste but it looked like it was steamed way too long.
I used to come here a lot but now I find the food to be not as good as it used too.
