Good place to have traditional Chinese dianxin cuisine in Burnaby. Better to book early, otherwise need to wait a long time especially during weekend. Cantonese cuisine tastes delicious and authentic. Seafood material is fresh. Price is reasonable, waiters and waitress are nice and check customers frequently whether they need anything or changing plates. Strongly recommend my friends and clients to come here.
My family was looking for a dim sum place to eat to celebrate my brother's bday and this restaurant inside Crystal Mall by Metrotown was suggested by my other brother as he had been there before plus had a 10% discount card. We got there when it pretty pack but pretty spacious inside. We ordered a bunch of items that included (in order of pictures) Steamed Siu Mai, Rice w/Spareribs & Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce, Pan Fried Prawns with Chive Dumplings, Deep Fried Seven Spices Squid Tentacles, Steamed Rice Rolls wraps w/Chinese Donut, Bean Sheet Wraps w/Meat & Enoki in Abalone Sauce, Steamed Prawn Dumplings, Baked Snowy Mountain BBQ Pork Buns, Steamed Beef Balls, and Grand Crystal House Special Chow Mein. Overall the dim sum was pretty good. Siu Mai & Shrimp dumplings were 5 pieces each which most other dim sum places serve 4 pieces. The highlight was the Deep Fried Squid as it was fried perfectly and seasoned very well. Will definitely come back for dim sum again.
customer service so so, food taste so so…😞I live close to metro town area, and I love dim sum very much , but there is not much chioce of the delicious cantonese dim sum resraurants. Hope they can service more patience and friendly. And the dim sum there just very normal and Nothing outstanding. when I check out, I have been told my total is $40.47 something(before tax), total less than $50. so the cashier told me if I wanna pay credit card, they need charge $2 more, and I choose to pay cash. beacuse I was paying cash, and also I still have lots of coins, so I gave all my coins and some cash total are $46.35(including tips ), and I count 3 times before I gave to cashier, then I went to washroom, after I came back, I found out there were$2.35 on my table, and I have been told there were not enough tips I gave. I gave total$46.35, which means I gave $5.88 Tips already, and I count 3 times before I gave to the cashier lady, I should not went to the washroom and watch she count the money first, and I asked the cashier lady, and told her I gave her total $46.35, it should be enough tips already , and she said I gave her lots coins , and maybe I count wrong, But I count 3 times before I gave to her, unfortunately I didn't take any photo to prove it, so at last I have to gave her $3 more , which means today the bill was $40.47, and total I gave her$49.35 which means I gave $8.88 tips by this kind of customer service😔😔which makes me felt really upset. I am not lying, and it was super busy there, I count 3 times of the money, Why must I have miscounted? Is it possible that maybe the cashier was counting wrong, after all, I counted 3 times before I gave the money to her.☹️☹️☹️ This time of the dim sum experience is really terrible, very unhappy.
The food tastes mediocre, the decor is average, and the service is just okay. The $49 weekday dinner special roast duck requires ordering an additional regular-priced dish to use. The Peking duck slices are quite thick, but the $49 price is still unbeatable.
We decided to try their dinner menu. The BBQ roasted duck was on sale during the weekdays so we ordered them. It's just so so. Their mixed seafood and meat tofu in a pot was great. The place was surprisingly busy during a week night and their AC wasn't good enough so it's kind of stuffy inside the restaurant. The servers did not have much service in general. They looked very tired.
There’s nothing grand about this place. It’s so busy that staff just doesn’t give AF. We came for dimsum with my parents on weds afternoon. We were led into the restaurant thinking there was a table ready but she stops me and says the table isn’t clean yet. She gots there to put all the dirty dishes away. When we were seated, our male server threw all the cups, plates, utensils in the middle and says “set it up yourself”. Like… ok. Every plate, utensil and cup was so dirty. We had to sanitize the chopsticks in hot tea. The tea cups had splatters all over it, the lazy Susan table was wiped with a dirty towel because it was grimy and sticky when we tried to turn it. Pretty much service sucked, if you needed anything they come over and act like they’re doing us a favour. Food was not great, e we got the sticky rice wrapped in leaf and it was over cooked, weird flavour and my kid didn’t even eat it. The only thing that was good was the snowy mountain bbq pork bun. But that isn’t enough to save this place. I do not recommend this place at all, it’s gotten so bad over the years.
Inside crystal mall. Mainly serving dimsum during the day. And seafood dinner at night. Busy but not crazy. Got a table right away. Serving Cantonese dimsum. Food came out fast after ordering. Taste good. Big portion. The 3 managers / head waiters were a bit less friendly. But the rest of the staff were very attentive. Not sure why that is. Especially this older manager (not sure if that is the owner) was borderline rude. Not a word came out of him the entire time. We did overlook that. We enjoyed the food nonetheless. All the female servers were very polite and attentive.
We came here for dinner and chose their meal combo with a choice of 3 dishes. Food: 4/5 - the portions were decent size and food was tasty. Overall we were impressed Service: 3/5 - service was on the slow side. Atmosphere: 5/5 - a great place for any occasion from birthdays to just because. They even have large party rooms for a special event. Parking: 5/5 - complimentary parking available in the parkade downstairs. Overall a great place for Asian food in the Metrotown area.
This restaurants service is outstanding. The table is always clean and well-kept, enhancing the overall dining atmosphere.
Enjoyed fish and vegetables, beef and bitter melon, pork tendon in sweet sauce. Came again today and our group ordered about 10 dishes and paid less than $20 per person for dim sum. Big dishes of food so full with leftovers to take home.came again recently and got served quickly with lots of food leftovers. Come here regularly with tai chi class as within walking distance from Burnaby south Neighbourhood house. Better than station square restaurant. Came again with friends. Enjoyed everything including purple yam purses. Came again for dinner and enjoyed the crispy chicken. Also had spicy beans, halibut, fish and veggies. Came again for lunch. Had fried fish, beef balls, beef rice rolls. Rice rolls too sticky. Fish a bit bony. Beef balls nice and bouncy. Came again with 19 guests from tai chi group at two tables. Everything delicious and eaten up. Enjoyed noodles, eggplant, beef balls
Went to Regent today for brunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Because it is of great significance, choose our confident Regent Restaurant to have a great time. According to past experience, Regents service, food quality, taste, portion size and price are unparalleled among all restaurants we have tried. Only the chicken patties had a little more gravy, which made the crispy bottom a little softer. In addition, the chicken patties are very filling, very filling, and the skin is very crispy. I also went to this restaurant for dinner and had the same review. Regency is my highly recommended restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner, they never disappoint.
Good morning tea
We paid cash for our lunch at the table. While we walked out the door, one of the female staffs yelled at us and ask us to return to the cashier counter . She said we didnt give any gratitude. I opened inside a pocket of the invoice holder where few dollars was hidden as our tips which she didnt find . This is a low class service restaurant with untrained low class servers. We stop going there anymore.
Terrible service Cant speak a word when serving food Ask people polite questions But it was an incomprehensible and rude reply. Finally, a packing box is needed It s also like being debt-collected But can it be any less qualified?
And the atmosphere in the store is relaxed and pleasant, making it a great place to dine.
The woman with a bob-cut at reception is the rudest I ve ever seen. She ignores you or shouts at you if you ever dare to talk to her.
In fact, I highly recommend this place, but the more I recommend it, the more I can t get a reservation. It s very contradictory!
The kitchen floor drain is unobstructed, there is no accumulation of water in the store, the food tastes great, and you can enjoy your meal.
New manager Parking: There are free parking underground, but parking is busy.... Food : 5/5 |
Some of the best value pho I have had in years. Quality and quantity surprisingly good. Wheelchair accessibility: A bit awkward. If you knock they will accommodate
The delicious food in this restaurant makes people have endless aftertastes.
Good
Food and service are good....
The chicken wings in this restaurant are amazing! Each wing is grilled to perfection. The outer skin is golden and crispy, just like being covered with a layer of golden armor
The restaurant is very clean and reassuring.
The place found through Google Maps is satisfactory.
I chose not to leave a tip at the POS machine because I saw the waiters cold face from beginning to end. I wanted to tip the waiter who ordered the food. Although her attitude was not good, it was just because she did serve me. My wife didnt bring any cash, so I didnt leave a tip. When I got up to leave and passed the cashier, I was stopped. The person sitting at the bar acted like a policeman interrogating a prisoner and wanted to forcefully charge me more than 10% of the tip, but I refused to give that much. I understand that tipping is given voluntarily by the customer, rather than tipping in an almost threatening manner for receiving cold service. The food here is good, but I would give 0 stars for the service.
The three of us went to have morning tea. When we arrived, the male manager who showed us the table was very nice and had a smile. The food is average, but nothing is lost. However, the fried squid dish has a hairy squid with a fried skin. In the end, we couldnt eat enough, and when I saw a female staff member wearing a mask (wearing a black suit) at the isolation counter, she put down the snack paper. I asked, No, can you give me a box? . A female staff member turned around, stared at me, and said in a harsh tone: Miss, please wait for a while, Ill hold on tight! I didnt say anything and waited for him for 5 minutes. After taking the table, the female staff returned to the door and continued to wait for the delivery. She had no idea of going in to pick up a box for me. Finally, I asked other staff to give me a box. The three of us paid a little over $90, so I ll give you $5 just for the tips! Since you are in the catering industry and you need to collect tips, you should be kind and have a good attitude! I won t come to help you again next time! There are so many restaurants in Burnaby, what should I do if the service attitude in one of them is poor? The food here are fine. Nothing special for the breakfast. But the fried squid has human hair inside!! Thats mean the hygiene here is not very good!! Also, there is a female manager who is unfriendly!!! I just asked her to give me a to-go box. She replied me very rudely Miss can you wait? I am busy! something like that. Then I waited for 5 minutes and she didnt give me the box at the end. I won t come here anymore!!
A pocket list of snack shops that your family must eat every week
This restaurant has an elegant setting, delicious food, and attentive service. Highly recommended.
Excellent dim sum offerings. Loved every dish.
The taste of the snacks was so-so. I asked a gentleman in a suit to get more paper towels, but there was no response or a smile. After a while, I gave a few more. My friend said it felt like we owed him money!
The food n service very great. Highly recommended,
The service is very professional. It responds to the needs of guests in time, making people feel very satisfied. The presentation of the dishes is very exquisite. People will have an appetite at a glance.
Great dim sum, big portions and tasty
The taste of the dishes is good. The service is also very enthusiastic. It is a good restaurant.
The taste is excellent, and the ingredients are very fresh. I enjoyed the meal very much.
Very good food
The food was served quickly and was delicious. Very good.
Everything at normal condition, no surprise, some of the dishes can be improved to a higher level.
Its really comfortable. Its really a pleasure to dine in this place.
To be honest, I don t care how good the food is at this place. The service was absolutely atrocious! We called ahead to reserve a spot and were told our name was on the list. When we arrived with a baby, they shoved us to the very bottom of the list and made us start over. We waited an hour and a half with a newborn, and when we had to step away to change a diaper, they claimed we were missed and forced us to go back to the end of the line AGAIN. Meanwhile, I saw the manager giving/holding tables to regulars while we were stuck waiting. The line-up system is a complete joke, showing no fairness whatsoever. If you want a table quickly, youd better have a lot of time to waste and be willing to return multiple times to get any respect. I will never come back here, and I certainly wont recommend it to any of my friends or family.
The food is hot, fresh and delicious
I really recommend you to come and try it. The ingredients are very fresh and delicious. The environment is elegant.
I have always patronized this restaurant. The reason is that the boss is very nice.
We were there for a fuction. With special food for this occasion.
The owner of this restaurant is really kind! Every time I come here, I can feel the warmth like spring breeze. The owner is always smiling and warmly welcomes every customer. He will carefully ask about customers needs and try his best to meet everyones requirements. Having a meal here, you can not only taste delicious food, but also gain a sincere concern, which makes people feel extremely warm.
Went here to try after their reopening but everything went down hill from here. The bbq buck special was so bad you can get better one from the food court next door. Not recommended. Food : 1/5
Service was not the greatest, kinda rude and dont care attitude. Food is very delicious, great flavor and good portion.
Food is standard, but the size is about 50% bigger than most other restaurants. The service is great; everyone has nice attitude. If you like a vibrant atmosphere, this is a good place for that.
It was busy so food did not come out quickly. Then we got served a dessert dish first. After a long wait, we got served a rice roll that was completely cold. It had been left out, probably from someone else s order. I spoke to the manager. No apology or offer to do anything. Then we had items to pack up. Didn t give us enough take out containers or a bag. We didn t specify amount of take out containers but asked for them. We had paid the bill while packing up items and had paid for the take out containers. I told her about the cold item again and she told me it s supposed to be like that!!! I have had ordered the same dish for years, definitely not served cold. I couldn t believe it. Then I realized we weren t given a bag to put our leftovers in. Asked for a bag. Lady then said we don t get a bag because we asked for another take out container, the one that we were shorted on in the first place!!! She told me to get a bag it s another 50 cents. I told her why didn t you add the amount to the bill so we could have a bag? No response. Told her I m not ever coming back. She literally didn t care. Either did her manager. Cold food and super petty.
Servers too busy to be more attentive. Wheelchair accessibility: Tables too close for walkers and wheelchairs. No easy access to washrooms for mobility challengenged guests. Food : 4/5 |
We went for dinner on a week day. I think we were the only few sets of people there around 830pm. We ordered the Halibut stir fried with ginger green onions ($27). We ordered the shrimp pork fried rice ($30). The food was lacking in taste. No flavor whatsoever. Very disappointing. Lots of bones were left in the fish. At these prices, we expected the food to taste great but they were terrible.
They try to rob tips. They forcefully collect tips. Even if they give 10%, they still stop the customers from leaving and ask why they give so little. They are extremely disgusting and greedy. I think everyone should call the police. Terribly greedy people!
I was a walk up. It was busy for a Wednesday. Poor hostess got mobbed by people asking to be placed on the waitlist. Waited over 20 mins. Realized people phoned in to reserve their name on the waitlist. I noticed large groups over 5 were being brought in rather than the lesser groups. I didnt play this game right. Left to eat at the food court nearby.
We had a family dinner for 10 and my father ordered a set dinner based on the menu. The food was okay and arrived fairly fast but the service was a little slow. The set dinner my father ordered had a special item on it but it never arrived. The server indicated that all the items ordered had arrived. Upon further inquiries it appears the kitchen substituted the special menu item with something totally different as they didn t have it. My issue was that nobody ever communicated this to us or asked us. A little underhanded I would say. Not impressed.
Ordered a live crab. It tasted super dry. Fried rice portion is big but tasted not fresh at all. We could not finish all food because of the taste
sat outside at the waiting area food so so perfect location Food : 2/5
Ladies should never get their hair done at the salon next to this restaurant. It will be an unforgettable, lifelong regret. The worst part is, if they mess up your hair, you cant even complain because if you do, the hairdresser will give you attitude and act even more aggrieved than you.
Great Peking duck and value meals with 3 dishes included
I had the suckling pig meal. The suckling pig was of normal quality and quite thin. The fried double lobster vermicelli was very poor. It was too thin and had too much corn flour. The fried seabass with sweet beans was average and had a lot of MSG. The soy sauce chicken was average and the price was more expensive than that of Kirin Restaurant. poorly cooked
Food was delicious. Hot and fresh on the table when it gets to the table. Well seasoned.
I m surprised I haven t seen more reviews on this restaurants HORRIBLE SERVICE. We walk in and try to put our name on the waiting list but the manager comes up, looking mad as ever and sways us to our table. The servers, manager, EVERYONE had an extremely impatient attitude like they didn t want to be there. I ll admit, we came to the restaurant because of the discount on the peking duck, but so did everyone else?? When we ordered the duck, they DEMANDED we order another dish .collecting the dishes, giving us napkins, everything was thrown all over the place. The only reason we stayed was because we already ordered. DONT come here.
I m really angry, if you are chinese(just Chinese not other Asian), you cannot speak Cantonese, then don t go there. One captain recommended us that he is a friend of this restaurant, they are pretty good at seafood food, so we made a call to this restaurant. They told us if we bring our seafood, it s going to be 12/lb. It s a fair price so that s why we decided to go. But, when we took 40 minutes arrive there, the is a guy ( should be a manager) told us it s only for steam sea food. Others cooking method all need to 21/lb. We ask him what kind of cooking method they can do. They didn t answer. But just ask us to choose one. I feel like they decide their price by customer. If you look younger and not a local people. They think they can squeeze more dollar from you. Anyway, plz try avoid this restaurant. The management service are really suck. I rather eat raw sea food than get it cooked there
Family eats here say no more.
Great restaurant and great service!
Great food, tea was strong and flavourful, lazy susan moved with grace. Would come again!
The taste is very good and the boss is also very nice
Staffs are nice and friendly. Good service, good food, good people
Good dim sum but they have issues with managing reservations. Expect to be seated an hour after your booking.
Great location, great food.
Ordered the ten person set dinner. Very tasty. Large portion. Crabs were a bit small with little meat. Yummy baked sago taro dessert.
Terrible service, not fresh food
The special roast duck is amazing! Cut such a big piece! Just chew it!
Great chinese food and dim sum
So busy and it s clear why! There are commonly line ups, but once you re in, expect very efficient service from the staff and good food from the kitchen! Portions are pretty big and some of them are presented uniquely. Only took the photo of the shrimp looking like flower, but plenty of colourful dumplings available too!
There were so many people in this restaurant that we were placed at the first table at the front desk. Some people waiting for a table lost their patience and asked the waiter again and again. I was worried that their conversation would splash saliva on the food on our table. . The food was good, but the environment was really bad, which of course had something to do with where we were sitting. The restaurant is too crowded, and we were seated at the front table near the reception. Im really worried about the conversations of impatient people waiting nearby splashing saliva onto our food. The dishes are decent, but the environment is just too chaotic, partly due to where were seated.
Nice food and services
Authentic Guangdong dishes - meat appetisers dish, spring onion chicken, steamed fish .. yummy!
We came for the King Crab! When it comes to king crab set dinner, there are so many choices. We picked Grand Crystal for its reasonable price, tasty cooking and generous portion. There were 7 of us that evening, but we only ordered a king crab set dinner for 4ppl and added a Sichuan Boiled Fish and a noodles cooked with crab broth. At the end, we had to take some of the fried rice and noodles home. The king crab was about 7-8lbs and served in 3 ways, steamed legs, deep fried the body and fried rice with the roe. It was finger licking good that we wished there were more. The other dishes including the stir fry fish fillet with veggie and the chicken included in the set dinner were also very tasty. The Sichuan Boiled Fish, which we added, was not bad but its not spicy enough for a Sichuan dish. The manager was so kind to offer us a complimentary baked custard pudding. The crust was like the HK style pineapple bun being crunchy and rich in butter and egg flavor. We rushed into it without taking a picture.
Great dim sums which have a good portion. Siew Mai and Har Gao on the spot. Rice roll was pretty good. Gets busy quickly, so call for reservation ahead for time.
The service is the worst forever. The shrimp dumplings is raw. We told the server the dumplings is not fully cooked. The sever told us: its the way the restaurant Cook. I told her my husband worked in restaurant before, he knows it. She still insists thats the way the restaurant Cook. I told her she can eat it and see if she gets diarrhea or not. I never went to the restaurant that provided this worst service. the server is supper mean too. Even, the chicken feet is very harden and Could not even eat it. Will not go again. Its the worst of the worst restaurants I have ever go.
Peking duck
If you dont want to compare with one star, you can comment first. I dont want to compare with one. I asked the customer to pay the bill and asked the customer to go to the cashier. The attitude of the lady at the cashier was very bad. She did not accept American Express and said it was fully subsidized. I asked for the calculation and opened it. You are asking me to sell myself, but I am not rich. Do I need such an attitude? Its simply discriminatory, its discriminatory, its discriminatory against using American Express, its discriminatory against me, it requires selling ones body, everyone should not go there, the taste is average, but its very annoying.
We just arrived from Australia and really wanted to try a live Alaskan crab for the first time. Ordered the crab banquet and the food was amazing. Everything went well until it came to the bill. We paid $8 as tips but the cashier lady demanded we pay them a minimum 10% in tips. This would have been around $52 and said this was the norm in Canada. She spoke in a loud voice to try an embarrass us in front of other patrons to pressure us to pay. After a few back and forth later. I handed her an extra $10 in cash. She said their livelihood depended on it. I said I thought only America would do this kinda thing. Not in Canada. She said we can swipe our card in the machine to pay the extra I said no. She went away and we left. What a disappointing end to a nice meal.
Been there many times, love it. I don t understand why it only scores 3.6, it s obviously better than many 4+ scores. Various dishes, take out 10% off, will continue to go.
Very classic multi-course special Chinese dinner sets here complete with baked tapioca dessert and osmanthus goji jelly. The Peking duck was delicious. The Crab claws were good too and cooked cute and round. The Lobster, fish, chicken, scallops, and veggies were typical of formal Chinese restaurant dinner places. Went again for their king crab and it was very fresh with sweet juicy meat. Highly recommend their honey garlic spareribs as well! Service was sincere and friendly.
Dim sum on Sunday morning. Very nice rustic, authentic restaurant. We will be back
King crab is pretty good
Its pricey. We ordered the Alaska King crab at the special, and it is supposed to be at least 7 lbs. It did not look like 6 lbs. Not worth the money.
The taste of morning tea cannot be compared with Richmond, but it is still higher than the average level of burnaby. The key point is that the portions are generous and cost-effective!
Portion is big , but not too tasty. Smell the beach while dining
great ambience and food
The place is big, the service is friendly and professional, the food tastes good and the price is reasonable.
Wonderful food with reasonable price convenience parking
We made a reservation at 7:30 on New Years Eve and we 7 young people went to have dinner If there are many people in advance, you will have to wait for 30 minutes. What do you know? It s better to have a front desk than to reserve a desk. Regular customers can come in first. Waited for 40 minutes on the left. A customer lost his temper and tried to wait for 40 minutes on the left, but nothing happened. Take him in immediately At the same time, I have to wait 40 minutes on the left. Then slowly expose all the people at the door It turns out that my land is surrounded by young people, but there are still no children. Just ask Jidu Department. Next one. But the next one will always be a middle-aged person. Put the prawns on my side, they won t get rotten and fried Finally, after waiting for an hour on the left, everyone has not yet arrived. I have to find a group of people around me. Asked the front desk, the attitude was very bad. Claiming not to be able to eat in my land Extremely negative review If the first round of pre-left table is cleared and the table is not cut When ordering Taiwan fruit, you should ask me to order the night. Instead of asking me to stand at the door for an hour and make trouble for me
New Years Distribution Manager has extremely bad attitude You can actually make trouble with guests Already have a reservation desk But wait for a full hour Seeing someone without an appointment scares me to death The manager will let you in immediately! Because regular customers can be seated immediately? Arrangements are chaotic, no worries about doing business
After waiting for an hour, there was no table. The people at the Zhongbi left table who had no reservations made it clear that our waiter had a very bad attitude.
The manager s attitude was extremely POOR and unhelpful. There is no point for reserving a table as they will ONLY prioritizing their so called loyal customers Overall, this is the WORST experience I ever had and I will not recommend this restaurant entirely as you will only be served with disappointment.
RIDICULOUS! The most terrible and ignorant service I ever experienced.
Horrible service, the chef refused to make our food because the management got into an argument. Management barely apologized to us. Worst $700 spent. This was not how I wanted to spend my Lunar New Year dinner.
This store only accepts familiar customers. If you are not familiar with them, others will keep jumping in line. Even if you reserve a seat, it will be useless. They will also say that you are hindering them. This restaurant only serves regular customers, so if you re not their friends , you ll have to wait in line even if you make a reservation, and they might even say you re causing inconvenience.
We are very disappointed and find it ridiculous. We booked a table for 7:30 PM, but ended up waiting for over an hour. We understand that many people booked tables to celebrate the New Years dinner, but we observed some individuals who hadn t booked being allowed in by the receptionist, presumably because they knew them. Whenever we asked when we could be seated, we were told it would be the next table many times. Both the manager and the receptionist had very bad attitudes. We won t be returning again.
Very impressed by the food and service. Was never disappointed at this place for so many years. Thank you so much for your great work and effort. Happy new year to you all!!!
This is one of the worst!!! restaurant I have experienced with! Their waiter is super impatient with our friends. They forced us to tip them with poor service. I strongly recommend you guys to try other Cantonese restaurants. Be vise to choose decent restaurants to spend time with!!!
It s really annoying to be bullied by the front desk during the New Year s Eve dinner! If you book on the left side, you have to wait more than 45 minutes. What should you do if you book on the left side? A tethered customer is better than a regular customer, right?
Credit card payment allowed only for above $50 otherwise pay additional 2%. Tea charges per person on top of your tipping. Prices of timsum are not cheap compared to many others.
Dim sum was not as good as before, but service was very good Parking: Crystal mall parking Food : 4/5 |
They would lie to you about having discounts and once you pay they would simply say No discount. Service is literally the worst. The old man server is rude to the customers. The place is unprepared as well even when we made reservation first.
In my experience, it seems making a reservation here is useless. Made a reservation for 11:30am and didnt get seated till an hour later. So make sure you just come early to wait, I guess. It does seem that they prioritize and give preferential treatment to regular customers/friends more than others.
Yummy
The dinner and the lunch-hour chef specialties used to be excellent. What happens? Chef left his shoes behind? Food : 1/5
This tea house is located in the Crystal Mall, with convenient parking and close to the Metrotown Skytrain Station and bus station, making it convenient for transportation. The teahouse has plenty of seats and nice decoration. The snacks for morning tea are generous. There are actually five shrimp dumplings. The shrimp dumplings are large and delicious, so they are a good choice.
Lousy food ! 3 0 0
Its crowded in the weekend. However food is good. King crab promo$268 for 2 eats.
Good luck during the weekend as it s super busy! Very efficient in getting you a table and taking your orders when the time comes. Definitely one of the better ones when it comes to price and what you get. 10 dishes for about $180. Decent portions and typical dimsum taste. Be warned they charge $1.50 per person for tea!
The lady asking for more tips ruined the experience. Managers, control your employee. She needs to give good service, train them to do well to gain tips.
Not bad food, but nothing special. Very high prices for what you get.
Busy but good food
Yum food
Good
Had private party here. Didnt really enjoy random people poking their heads in all night. Didnt enjoy being rushed to eat with plenty of time to eat before closing. Others than that the service was good by the waiters. But the manager seemed Abit pushy when it came down to the last hour before closing. Even though we were cautious of the time. Parking: Gets crowded remember your patience !
big portion but the food tastes bad
Very loud. Typical service. Food was ok, but priced high for what it is. Im very obviously not Chinese and they made it very clear they only want to speak in Chinese.
Other than anything steamed, food was lukewarm or cold.
I WISH I COULD RATE IT ZERO STARS!!! This is the most frustrating experience I have had so far. I was shocked to find out that a 12% gratuity was compulsory. I believe that tipping should be a voluntary expression of gratitude for exceptional service, and not something that is forced upon customers. I attempted to pay an 8 dollar tip for my 84 dollar meal, which I believe is a fair amount given the average quality of the food and service. However, I was met with hostility from the waitress who became angry and accused me of being STINGY and sitting there for the entire day (when I had only been there for 2 hours). The waitress spoke to me in Cantonese and made the following statement: 8 10% (In translation: Are you kidding me? Only giving $8 and no 10% tip? And youve been sitting here all day. Youre so stingy) I found this behavior to be completely unacceptable and unprofessional. As a customer, I have the right to decide whether or not to leave a tip, and I should not be made to feel guilty or attacked for making that decision. This kind of behavior is disrespectful and reflects poorly on your restaurant. In the end, to avoid further confrontation, I gave a 12% tip. However, the waitresss attitude remained extremely poor, even after I had given a tip. I will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. This experience has left me extremely angry and I am willing to take the time to leave a review on Google to share my experience with others.
The service was very poor. When the food was served, it was thrown directly on the glass table. I dont know if it was hot to the touch. Then the fish had scales and the rice was not scraped off. I was also abrupt and wanted to change the rice, but was told that I couldnt change the rice. It was cooked in a large pot at one time and I might need to change it. You have to wait for a long time, the taste is average and can be tasted in the middle and lower reaches. The service is also very slow.
The service was horrible today, we were there celebrating mothers Day and we just needed some extra soya sauce and we got lectured by one of the head waitresses and after we didnt tip the minimum but we tipped regardless and was chased down by a manager asking why we didnt pay the minimum tip... Unreal...
The portion of food is large but the quality is so-so. The selling point of this restaurant is its low-priced dim sum. By the way, the steamed custard lava bun does not look alike pig actually. The portions of the food are large, but the quality is average. The selling point of this restaurant must be that it is cheap. The Liuxin pig buns actually don t look like pigs at all, and the claypot rice doesn t have crispy rice balls, but each dim sum usually comes with 4-5 pieces.
The price is not too expensive and acceptable
Yummy!!!
Extremely rude. We called in to ask for table for brunch, the lady responded that there were many people in line and we should just go and wait. We then said ok, and what would be the approximate wait time. The lady then raised her tone and started berating us, and yelled how on earth would she know. We were aghast. Why so much hostility for such simple question. Even if the restaurant was busy, such attitude should not be justified. We had been to the restaurant before, the food is not bad but definitely will not go there again. Rude and disrespectful.
Food comes out quick. The place is bigger than you think.
Food was very tasty and the portions were well sized. There were a large variety of options to pick for food. Several floors of free parking underground is very convenient.
The worst service I ve ever experienced, especially the host. She was rude, unprofessional and didn t show respect to the guests. She didn t bother greeting or looking at us when we arrived, and the way she aggressively threw the bowls and dishes on the table was unacceptable. Food was not bad, but we will definitely not go back after this terrible experience.
My parents went to have tea in the morning and left a 10% tip. When they left the restaurant, the waiter yelled back and said that the tip was not enough. You can do something about it. My parents didnt want to cause trouble, so they gave me a few extra dollars to satisfy the waiter. But I appeal to everyone not to be afraid if something like this happens. The police station is downstairs. I strongly recommend that everyone call the police where they are. * Cautions * Beware of mandatory tip when you eat in at this place. Even when the food isnt delicious or service is not that satisfied.
Located on the second floor of a shopping mall. Took some time to find the entrance. The seafood tastes good. Service also fast and good. Food portion is of average not that big.
Lunch was good. Dim sum delicious. Professional service.
Came here to celebrate dad s birthday! We booked their private room that has Kareoke. The room is very specious, large enough to fit a party of up to 30 people. We ordered their set menu for 10 people and pre-ordered a winter melon soup, 8 treasure duck and a baked tapioca pudding. The winter melon soup was flavorful and filled with crab and scallops. I want to go back and try their Buddha Jump the Wall soup next time. The egg plant with tenderloin was also very good. The tapioca pudding was delicious and the kids love it. Make sure you preorder it. The portions were huge that we had to pack half of it home. The service was good and the atmosphere was great since we had our own private room. The kids could run around, sing and dance.
The crispy chicken with sticky rice was very good. Some of the other dishes were reasonable but not wow. Overall decent.
Always come here for dimsum. Good spot
Relatively affordable price for Alaska king crab and the food taste good
The restaurant is newly renovated and very spacious. The food is fresh and large portion size. The servers were very helpful with food recommendations and good service.
Great restaurant! Food is great and large portions, staff are professional.
Went here for a dinner during a conference. We were a large crowd and they had the space reserved for us. Food came slow and we werent quite sure what else or how much more would be coming. It was very yummy and we had tons of food left over to take with us. The servers were not always able to answer our questions about the food, perhaps a language barrier (some of us were vegan or gluten free).
The food is okay, but I was unhappy with the way that this one waitress treated this poor girl. She was with her family and the waitress wanted to move pass her. Seems like she forcefully pushed the girl s chair and the girl customer didn t look happy at all. She even left the restaurant for a while too. I respect that if you have to ask the customer to move in order to get through, but of all places they chose to go through the most difficult part and try and squeeze into a small space. Not a typical scene, but like if the customer cannot love any further, don t force your way through in and just find another way. What happened to customers comes first? Regardless of the situation, this is not okay!!
Went here today, ha gao is pretty good and all the other things were mediocre. Make sure you check what you ordered, this place started sending me dishes that I did not order and I ended up having to pay for it.
Have been to this place three times for lunch and twice for dinner. Dim sum was amazing. Flavours were on point and portion sizes were bigger than you would normally get at a Dim Sum restaurant. Normally, you would get 4 pieces of siu mai/har gow in one steamer but they had 5. Service was very friendly. We asked for another dish and they were eager to entertain our request. Atmosphere is very modern and cozy. Overall, this is a great place to go for Chinese food. Do note that it gets busy during lunch and dinner so get there early for a spot.
The food is very good, but there is no service! They dont care ! I wouldnt go there again anytime soon ! Fast forward, went there again last month (July, 2023), the food quality are very bad, seafood and meat are not fresh and are extremely salty !!! Too salty to eat !!! Definitely not going there again !!!
Great HK Chinese food, at a good price. Jason, the boss, is super kind and accommodating of us for our reception dinner.
yummy
Very busy place, prepare to wait. We had a family gathering there for lunch and it was delicious. The lobster with noodles were very good!
Authentic dim sum experience with very tasty food (best pineapple buns)
So hard to get any service (restaurant wasn t even busy) and messed up the ordering twice, they seem to only pay attention to the regulars. Very rude and slow service. Food is okay but they do charge premium prices - $9.50-$12.50 for most dimsum items. For those prices, we can get better experience and food elsewhere. We won t be back.
Two months before the summer vacation, several of our friends were having dinner, and the waiter unkindly forced us to change tables. He also said that the other party had a meal package, why didnt he tell us earlier? Very dishonest service! In fact, in order to attract more customers, the people sitting next to us were guests who had just attended the funeral. Why dont you tell the truth and make people feel uncomfortable! Dietary restrictions: The restaurant doesnt care about the mood and interests of the customers. It makes people feel numb by arranging a casual guest to sit next to you, and also forces you to change tables. Its a bad attitude! Arrogant!
I like this
King crab advertisement 268 each. Everyone had already taken their seats, and when the crabs were brought, the price for sitting on the floor was increased by 70 Canadian dollars. After reading and writing, I was still thinking. After two seconds, the waiter told me not to forget it and turned around and left without picking up the customer. Who does this kind of business? It is recommended not to be exploited like a fool, an extra pound is 70 Canadian dollars!
not really tasty and authentic on the dimsum
Great tasting chinese food everything was tasty l cannot complain. Waitress was very attentive and gave us extra napkins. This place is usually busy because the food is good. Menu has nice pictures which helps a lot when ordering.
The waitress had a bad attitude. It took more than 20 minutes to reserve a seat. When I asked the waiter, she yelled at her and even lied. When her lie was exposed, she even cursed her with other colleagues in front of her. This service attitude is absolutely amazing!
TLDR; catty take it or leave it attitude from staff, why pay to be disrespected, lots of alternative dimsum spots in the area ~ Extremely poor and unacceptable service. Hostess was extremely rude. She kept bumping us for walk-in groups that came in after us despite us being there first. These groups after us did not even make a reservation to justify skipping the queue. After seating all of these other guests (whom I assume she gave preferential treatment to because she knew them) the hostess then offered us a make-shift table near the entrance of the door. We declined due to a draft and told them we preferred to sit in the main dining room and would wait. To our response the hostess and another server (both middle to older aged asian see-lais with bob cuts) started bad-talking us to each other in Cantonese saying which roughly translates to Let them wait. Whatever, if they dont want to sit then it their problem while throwing us dirty stares and waving a dismissive hand at us. After receiving such nasty attitude and extremely unkind service from the hostess we decided to leave and not dine here. Why would we subject ourselves to such catty and hateful attitude, let alone PAY to be treated so poorly. I strongly suggest future diners to reevaluate their decision to dine here if you dont want to be patronized and if you value having a good time at dimsum. It is clear that all they care about is the money, so much so that they dont even care to treat others with basic pleasantries or kindness. Its this take it or leave it attitude from the staff that will be the downfall of this restaurant.
Very spacious and good service.
Clean nice restaurant located inside the Crystal mall, price is right, food portion is reasonable size, not all dim sum are great but is good enough
Food like home
We came here for a company event banquet. Overall, the food were average. Parking: Free parking at Crystal mall but all weird angles parking. Food : 3/5 |
